Maya, now somewhat bored with confessions and talk of crushes, ironically went to follow Soul (of all people), trotting alongside him and Christian onto the training field.
With the army of scattered dummies, she studied them curiously, running her fingertips over the material. Some coarse, some smooth.. a select few even boasted as to being indestructible. Humming in thought, she settled in to stretch, tuning into the boys’ conversation.
She watched intently, frozen in stretch form, as Soul went to preform Cosmic Impact once more. If she watched very closely, and studied his movements... maybe she could find a way to understand, and even to withstand it.
Obviously, this didn’t go all too well as Soul was thrown backwards; scrambling up from her seated position, she looked over to where he was slumped, worry etched on her face. She listened to what Christian said for a moment, still a good distance away from them, when a shiver crossed from her spine all the way to her fingertips. Something was wrong, and she heard a scream from the tournament stands.
Acting immediately on some strange protective twinge, she quickly looked at the indestructible dummy, lifting it within seconds and tossing it over in front of Soul and Christian. Obviously, this left her exposed to the blast, and she staggered backwards as she was literally knocked off her feet, scraping her elbows slightly but still uninjured. Wobbling to a standing position, she looked at the pair with a worried expression.
“Any clue what the hell that was?” she whispered softly.
