Private/Closed Welcome to the Battle Frontier

As Noland approached Finion he looked up to him, listening carefully to what he was sayingtaking a deep breath and nodding with a smile. "Right, thank you" He was a quick thinker but couldn't react just because he had been intimidated, because he had panicked. He needed to get past that. As Noland began talking to the others Sparky returned to Finion's side, climbing up the trainers body to sit on his shoulder and munch happily on a sandwhich. With a confused but amused look Finion tilted his head and asked his companion. "Where'd you get that?" The Pachirisu shrugged mischievously and Fin began to walk back to the group, smiling gratefully at Westley's encouragement. "Thanks!"

Landon walked back into the Battle Factory after chasing the Rattata, "Well, I never found my sandwich," Landon commented as he grabbed his bag and went outside. Landon began taking different pieces out of his bag until he had set up a small cooking station, "Alright, Rhy and Heart I need you two out here!" Landon yelled as he threw two Pokeballs into the air, releasing a Rhydon and a Swoobat, "You two go collect some berries," they both nodded and ran off.

Lyra walked over to where Finion was and gave him a pat on the back, "Don't worry Finion, everyone has a bad day," she commented, "Landon has lost more battles than I can keep count of." "I heard that!" Landon yelled from outside. "Doesn't change the fact that it happened!" Lyra yelled back laughing, "Just don't let it get you down."

The pat on the back slightly suprised him and he quickly turned to see Lyra, laughing slightly at her comment about Landon. "I'll try not too" He knew that letting the fact he lost get him would do not good but he couldn't help but feel like he had let that Jolteon down, that maybe he could've used quick attack to dodge the meteors or thunder to block them. Once again Finion zoned out as he thought, Sparky having to poke his cheek to gain the trainers attention. "Hmm? Right, yeah sorry"

Nina had been lazily dozing off throughout the match, only stirring from her slumber at the sound of Landon and Lyra shouting to each other. Startled by the noise, she woke up with a start and jumped from her seat. "Huh? What's goin on? What'd I miss?" After gathering her bearings, Nina slowly started to remember where she was. "Uh...so izzit my turn yet?" Nina slurred her words, still groggy from her nap. Grabbing the railings of the steps, Nina staggered down to the arena, shaking off the last bits of sleep. "Alright, so how does this work anyway? I heard these facilities all have weird gimmicks in their battles. What's the deal here...uh...factory guy?"

"The name's Noland," Noland replied to Nina, he pressed a button and two trays extended to each of the trainers, "We'll use 3 random Pokemon each in a best of 3 battle," Noland grabbed his first Pokeball and threw it straight up releasing an Espeon, "We'll give you the honor of the first move," Noland offered.

Nina was rather dejected at the Factory's gimmick. Random Pokémon? What was the point of pouring her blood, sweat, and tears into raising up her partners then? Begrudgingly, Nina took a pokeball from the tray, not even bothering to look at it. She threw it into the air, releasing an odd looking winged Pokémon with a long, multicolored beak. Nina had absolutely no idea what species it was, let alone what moves it could use. Then it hit her. Nina had no way of knowing what moves any Pokémon would know! "Oí, what is this? Some kinda guessing game? There's no way of telling what moves this birdbrain can use!" The unknown Pokémon squeaked at its temporary trainer, clearly upset at being called a "birdbrain."

"If you won't attack then we will, use Psybeam!" Noland called, Espeon shot a multi-colored beam from it's red gem on it's forehead straight for Tucannon.

Landon walked back into the Battle Factory, this time he had a whole sack of muffins and a stack of sandwiches made, "So Nina got a Tucannon, that should be good," he commented as he watched the battle, eating a muffin at the same time. "Tucannon is strong, but like your Togedemaru she's never seen it before," Lyra replied. "So it's probably safe to say she's never been to Alola," Landon commented as he finished his muffin. "Yeah, hopefully she can still pull this out," she commented.

Nina was shocked that the Frontier Brain just straight up ignored her question. These guys were ruthless! The strange Pokemon was hit in the dead center of its body, shoving it across the stadium. Nina shook off her surprise and focused, rapidly trying to think of common flying type moves. Maybe something to do with its beak? "Alright, birdbrain, try using...uh...Drill Peck!" The Pokemon squawked at Nina again, this time threatening its talons. "Look, I don't know what you are, so for now you're birdbrain, got it?!" The Pokemon rolled its eyes at Nina, but seemed to accept the situation if only to end their interaction sooner. "Alright, now that we're clear, get in there and ram that Espeon with Drill Peck!" The flying Pokemon flew up into the air, then swooped back down while spinning its whole body around, sending itself flying straight for the Espeon.

The Drill Peck hit Espeon head on dealing lots of damage to it, "Not bad Nina!" Noland commented, "Espeon Zap Cannon!" Espeon began concentrating and summoned an orb of electricity. "Zap Cannon is a powerful move but that's providing you hit the attack, it requires lots of focus to use correctly!" Noland smiled as Espeon launched the attack.

Zap Cannon, eh? Knowing these Frontier Brains, they've probably mastered the art of hitting with low accuracy moves. And seeing as how the birdbrain was on a very predictable flight course, Nina thought it best to go for a defensive move rather than dodging. "Alright, birdbrain, use a mid-air Protect!" The Pokemon turned its head toward Nina and gave her a look of complete confusion, before being hit, and promptly knocked out, by the incoming Zap Cannon. "What the...does this thing not know protect?!"

"Toucannon is unable to battle! The first win goes to Noland!" Nina was on the verge of ripping her hair out from frustration. This was impossible! There was no way she could just guess each Pokemon's moveset! Nina began to mutter to herself. "Geez...how did Landon do it?" Landon didn't seem confused at all with any of his Pokemon. Either he got very lucky and picked species that he had raised before, or knew some kind of trick. Then Nina remembered: Landon had a Pokedex. At the realization, the Snowpoint trainer growled to herself. "So that's it...that Pokedex must be able to tell him movesets!" Even though it was infuriating for Nina, she became even more motivated to beat down this Frontier Brain than ever before.

Nina grabbed one of the pokeballs from the tray, staring at it for a bit before tossing it. "Welp, here goes nothing." The pokeball burst in mid air, releasing a gargantuan Abomasnow that towered over its temporary trainer. As soon as the Pokemon landed on the field, the air in the arena began to grow cold, and wind began to stir, creating a small hail storm within the arena. Nina smiled at her luck. Being from Snowpoint City, she knew Abomasnow lies the back of her hand. It was the local gym leader's ace, after all. "Well...at least I know what you are. You ready, Amomasnow?" The giant nodded. "In that case, let's start things off with a Blizzard!" The Abomasnow roared as it summoned up a strong gust of freezing wind and hail straight for its opponent.

"Dodge it!" Noland called, Toxicroak leaped up above the Blizzard, but the winds shifted and turned the direction of the Blizzard attack and forced it straight for Toxicroak, causing major damage to it, "Toxicroak, Brick Break!" Toxicroak ran toward Abomasnow, taking some damage from the Hail, it straightened it's hand and swung straight for Abomasnow's head.

Abomasnow was a large, lumbering Pokemon, so there was no chance that it could dodge Toxicroak's Brick Break. Nina had a different idea though. Why dodge when you can just hit harder? "Stand strong and counter with Wood Hammer!" The hulking Pokemon supplanted itself in a defensive stance just before impact, minimizing knockback but still taking quite a bit of damage. As soon as Toxicroak landed its attack though, Amomasnow's arms came together and swiftly came crashing down toward its opponent.

Abomasnow slammed Toxicroak into the field dealing lots of damage and knocking it out in the process, "Toxicroak is unable to battle, Abomasnow wins," The referee declared, "Nina gets the second win!" Noland smiled as he recalled Toxicroak, "Well done Nina, it's clear you know how to use Ice Pokemon," he commented as he grabbed his last Pokeball and threw it releasing a Gliscor.

Finion had been cheering from the sidelines the whole time, feeling pretty bad for Nina during the first round as she hadn't been told how to determine a random Pokemon's moves. He hadn't been told either but managed to figure it out before the first the round unlike Nina. 'Bird Brain' as Nina had called it was a Pokemon Finion didn't recognize and upon hearing Landon and Lyra discussing it he shuffled over to where they were sitting with a curious expression. "Where's Alola? Never heard of the place" It sounded interesting to say the least. For a moment he glanced back to the battlefield, smiling slightly upon seeing Nina win the second round before returning his attention back to Landon and Lyra.

Nina smirked at Noland, having regained her confidence. As long as the next Pokemon she chose wasn't another unknown species, she should have this in the bag. Though admittedly, a Gliscor was a tough opponent in regular battles, with her own personal team, so the battle would at the very least be a bit challenging either way. She grabbed her last pokeball from the tray and tossed it into the battlefield, releasing a tall, menacing Arbok. Nina's smirk grew into a full on grin. While Arbok was certainly at a disadvantage to the opposing ground type Pokemon, Nina was confident that she would be able to turn the tide in her favor.

"Eh, Ice types are great and all that, but if you thought that was my best, you haven't seen anything yet." She looked over the Arbok once more. She didn't even need to say anything, as the Arbok glanced over its shoulder and gave Nina a look that told her that Arbok was ready for anything. "Alright, let's kick things off with Coil! Prepare yourself!" The Arbok obeyed as it curled it's body into a spring like formation, tightening all the muscles in its body.
