Once Rory had made it a good ways away he pulled out his walkie talkie/intercom thing and spoke into it.
“Rory speaking. Mission is going well. My forces, hold back for now, give them some space. We’ll attack once they’ve had time to relax their guard. Same routine. Rory Out.”
Rocky sat by his feet, panting and looking up into a tree where there was a Dedenne, safely out of reach of the puppy and taunting him. Rocky growled and prepared to attack, but Rory bent down and stopped him.
“Hey, buddy. Leave the mouse alone. I have no doubt you could beat it, but we still have more to do before we leave the forest and we don’t need you getting hurt, do we?”
Rocky wagged his tail violently at the attention, now ignoring the Dedenne for his trainer’s sake. He licked at Rory’s face and nuzzled at him, which kind of hurt because of the rocks on the puppy’s neck. The trainer pet his Pokémon, and prepared to wait. He actually considered catching the Dedenne, so he dug through his bag to see if he had any extra Pokéballs. He didn’t know if he had any, since they weren’t supposed to have any on this mission due to the command to not capture the Converted in Pokéballs.

Perigrine was about to suggest that they could probably train in the clearing they were in, when Allie said there was someone coming. Not at all confident he would be able to win a fight, he attempted to hover to the tree he had hidden behind when Rory was there, but instead went a bit to the side, to a different tree. He couldn’t maneuver behind it, however, so he floated back towards Allie and her Pokémon. Safety in numbers, as they say.
“You said there was a trainer coming? With FIRE types? Oh no... I’m a Steel type now... I don’t like this.”
There was a metallic ring to his voice now that he was a Magnemite. The magnets that made his... arms? started to spin slightly.
