“S- Squirt?” The Squirtle hesitantly said to himself while feeling a highly malevolent ambience when the other trainer commanded the Absol to use such a powerful move. His vision started to slowly fade, while his breathing became noticeably quicker and louder. His hearing became fuzzier by the second, as his trainer thought, “Oh no... everyone’s gonna faint soon unless if we can win right now... What should I do? I’m not even sure if lil’ Bagon can even fight against a Pokémon with this move!”

The Squirtle’s right hand started to emit a bright, reddish light, as he attempted to keep his stance as straight as possible. A pulse of water was discharged at the ground, as the Squirtle was sent flying towards the Absol at a high speed!

Absol was pushed backwards by the speeding opponent, almost falling over, but managing to hold his ground. Gabriel thought quickly about the next move. " Hang in there Absol!" She cried. Absol gave a quick glance over his shoulder to show that he could continue.
"Absol, use Scratch!" (Deals damage with no additional effects)

The Squirtle ducked the moment when the other trainer commanded the Absol to attack. The Squirtle was left almost breathless while trying to not let his fading vision get the better of him. Time was running out for the little turtle, and it was only a matter of seconds before he realized that every second was to be utilized with utmost efficiency.

The Squirtle panted while attempting to fire off a forceful shot of water at the Absol. A stream of water was directed towards the Absol, as the Squirtle attempted to stand straight before he would eventually succumb to the melody heard from earlier.

Gabriel gasped as the Squirtle dodged Absol's attack. She weighed her options, this was her last chance to get it right. Absol was weakening now because of the water blast. She took another deep breath and decided to go for it.

"Absol use Quick Attack!" (Deals damage with a priority of 1)

Alan walked over to one of the adjacent Feilds. Taking his place on the side of the feild overlooking the courtyard, he selects two pokeballs from his belt enlarging them and tossing them underhanded so that the cross paths in the air.
“Treeko, Sneasel, To Arms!” Alan shouts as the two little Pokémon appear before him in a flash of red light.

These two aren’t as accustomed to working together as Treeko and Charmander Alan thought to himself but their speed really compliments each other.

The Squirtle attempted to block the swift strike after the Absol was commanded again by its trainer. Although the Squirtle gave his best at trying to parry an attack coming at near invisible speeds, he was instead sent flying toward his trainer! It seemed as if the world was spinning around in his field of vision at this point, as his trainer gasped and asked, “Ahh! Are you okay there Squirtle?”

“We don’t have to do this... we can always call it off. You look like you’re about to collapse or something!” Charles added while the Squirtle refused to give into his trainer’s orders of standing down.

The Squirtle sluggishly got on his feet while a light blue aura surrounded his body. He growled towards the Absol while preparing a move that could be his last.

His face started to turn crimson red, as his body shook like a pile of falling dominoes. A stream of boiling hot water was discharged at the Absol, as the Squirtle plummeted to the ground soon after.

Mike shrugged and headed to the battlefield where Alan was. He got on Pokéball from his belt and threw it into the air. Out of it a red light was appeared, which quickly turned into Torchic. "I'll finish this quickly, or maybe not. Whatever, Rowlet, use Peck on Treecko!" he shouted. The flying type went into the air and charged at Treecko with his beak. Mike's eyes under his bags were over-shown by his smile due to battling.

Gabriel noticed something was wrong instantly with the Squirtle. When he turned she saw the bandages on his bottom half and gasped. "ABSOL STOP!" She yelled. At the exact same time the Squirtle shot a blast of water at Absol, sending him flying towards her. She ran forwards and knelt down next to her fainted Pokemon. "Well done buddy." She whispered, sending him back to his pokeball and standing up to face Charles.

The Squirtle’s body lied as motionless as a statue near his trainer, as his heart was palpitating at this point. The last thing he saw before his vision faded to pitch black was the Absol being recalled back into the red and white capsule.

“I don’t even know if I really won... but I don’t really think I did... I think I lost more than that... I don’t think I can even feel my chest anymore...” The Squirtle thought while his trainer slowly approached him.

“A- are you okay man? Come on, say something!” Charles swiftly enquired while gently scooping the Squirtle in his arms.

There was no response from the turtle Pokémon, as his trainer gently stroked the top part of his shell while adding, “Are you hurt or anything? I might have to take you to the nurse if you’re not doing anything!”

No sound from the Squirtle was heard, as Charles’s face began to sweat after he gulped. He looked down at the Squirtle with a concerned gaze while thinking, “Oh no... I think he might of pushed himself too much! Ack, I should of stopped him when the battle started! What do I do... In the name of God... What... do... I... do!”

Chris was off to a bad start; He had been told off by the grumpy old regional studies professor for not knowing how many miles of water surrounded Sootopolis City and upon seeing his classmates battle, all his hopes of winning diminished. Chris thought to himself: Ugh, everybody is so good at battling....How can I even hope to compete? Never mind that, I should find a partner first.
With that, Chris proceeded to ask his new classmates if they wanted to be his partner.

Gabriel saw Charles holding the pokemon in his arms and gasped. She ran up to him and saw the motionless Squirtle lying with his eyes closed. She felt sick, really sick. Thoughts were going through her head way too fast.
What did you do? Why is it bandaged up? Was the attack really that powerful? What will I tell the others? WHY ISN'T IT MOVING?
She gulped, tears formed in her eyes as she looked at the Squirtle again. "It's not moving because you KILLED IT you idiot!" She screamed an answer to her thoughts out loud.

Charles looked over at the girl and her watering eyes, as he thought, “B- but... I wasn’t the one who hurt him... or what if I did... I gotta leave... now!” Charles left the class without a word and bolted down to the Nurse’s Office.

As soon as Charles got to the Nurse’s Office in a matter of a minute, he quickly opened the door while exclaiming, “SQUIRTLE’S NOT MOVING OR ANYTHING!”

“W- what? Seriously? He looks like he survived world war four!” The Nurse replied while gesturing the Chansey and Meganium to come over.

“Tch... I should of issued that other slip when I had the chance...” The Nurse thought while the Meganium and Chansey were behind the counter in a matter of seconds. A Joltic climbed up on the counter while looking a bit shocked at the Squirtle.

“Hand him over, we’ll deal with this. You can come inside if you want,” The Nurse calmly stated while Charles nodded and did as the Nurse told.

Gabriel watched the boy dash off, holding the Squirtle. "Great, my first interaction with my classmates, and I killed someone's Pokemon..." She choked and headed towards the dorm building, keeping her head down so no one would see her tears. As she walked into the courtyard, Minun and Plusle came running up to her, but stopped when they saw her face. They looked at her in confusion, looking hurt, as if they had been the ones who had made her cry. Gabriel continued walking silently towards the dorm, Minun and Plusle having to run to keep up with her, without having Absol to ride on.

The class wasn't really important, Alexis just took some notes. As it ended she quickly gathered her books, pens and put them in her bag "Man that was rough, I guess the teachers here are really strict" she thought. Continuing to the next class with the other freshmen, she noticed Atty went with a boy who seems to be chatting about things, As she reached the Field she could see lots of trainers battling, there was a Treeko, Charmander and an Absol, Alexis decided to sit down on the bleachers since there was no one to battle, she let her Pokemon out to see the battles between various trainers as she thought they could learn somethings by watching. Still, she hopes someone would battle her so she could train the three small Pokemon.

The Joltic emitted a tiny jolt of electricity towards the Squirtle’s chest after the Squirtle was placed on a cozy bed, while the Chansey placed some leads onto various areas on the Squirtle and turning on the electrocardiogram soon after. A computer screen booted up, revealing a series of red waves with the number above being about twenty less than two hundred after the Squirtle felt a gentle shock.

“Hey! Are you okay! We’re going to treat you, so try to relax alright?” The Nurse stated while the Chansey held a syringe with green liquid.

The medicine was administered into the Squirtle’s arms, as hardly any pain could be felt when his life was likely at high stakes. The Joltic jumped towards the table with various tools while resting near an empty tray. The Meganium kept the Squirtle still with her left vine while using the other to grab a tiny bottle of green gel and a big roll of bandaging material. The Chansey went over to the table and took a pair of small scissors before heading back to the Squirtle.

Charles watched everyone assisting in the treatment of the Squirtle, while taking a seat in a plastic, cushioned chair. It was only a matter of time before he knew that he might have to miss next class.

Henry's classes had been going smoothly for the most part, though freshman year wasn't as exciting as he expected, as he headed out of class he heard something about a Pokémon getting injured in a battle involving his fellow freshmen, he was curious but preferred to take a break before the next class, so he decided to take a stroll around the campus. Before heading out he took his three pokéballs and released his pokémon. "Ax! Chiing! Star!" he heard in unison as his partners appeared, "I thought you guys could use some fresh air, let's go for a walk," he said.

While walking around the dorms he noticed someone walking at a strange pace, a girl and two pokemon by the looks of it, probably a classmate he hadn't met yet. He caught up with her, "Hi, name's Henry Cross, first year. You look like you're in a troubled, is there anything I can help you with?" he asked calmly.

Gabriel turned to him, her eyes full of tears. She shook her head. "I just...I just need to get back to my dorm right now." She started running in the direction of the girls dorms, leaving her two exhausted Pokemon behind her.

Henry sighed, "If that's what she wants.." he said to himself. He turned to her pokémon, a Pusle and Minun that looked both confused and exhausted from walking, "You two are probably just as confused as I am, here, you can have this," Henry said as he offered them two Oran Berries. "You can come with me if you wish to, I'm going to do some training with my own pokemon. I don't think there's much we can do about her right now." he said as he started walking towards the safari area.

At the Safari Area Henry pulled a marker from one of his pockets and drew a target on a large boulder. He looked at Staryu and said "Alright Staryu! you go first! I want you to do your best to nail the bullseye with you Water Gun!" Staryu jumped to the air and a high pressure stream of water started coming from it's gem, hitting the second row of rings of the target. "That's good, you can do better though, nail that bullseye!" Henry exclaimed. The time passed quickly.

"Axew! I want you to hit that tree as hard as you can with Scratch one last time!" Henry shouted at his tired pokémon. Axew's claws glowed and the pokémon started to relentlessly slash at the tree, before stopping out of exhaustion. "Alright, I think you had enough, here eat this" he said as he gave Axew a berry.

Henry sat on the grass, "I wonder what happened on that battle, maybe that girl had something to do with it? Whose pokémon was hurt?" he thought to himself, waiting for the next class.

"WHAT THE... I ZONED OUT FOR LIKE A MINUTE AND A POKEMON IS DEAD!" Maxis yelled "This, might not be for me, WHAT IS GOING ON! HOW WOULD THIS HAPPEN IN LIKE A MINUTE!!!"

Minun and Plusle devoured their berries in seconds, having not eaten since breakfast. They followed Henry to the Safari Zone, where they perched on a rock nearby and watched him and his Pokemon train. Every time the Pokemon did really well, they would jump up and down and cheer excitedly, sending sparks of electricity from their cheeks. After the training was over, and Henry and his Pokemon were resting, Minun and Plusle started a game of tag in the tall grass, tackling each other and squeaking with excitement.

"I'm going to the next class" Maxis said as he walked away What is up with that asseylum girl? she looks like royalty he thought as he walked to the place where they were supposed to be "Welp, I'm here now" Maxis said

Chris was extremely confused. Apparently there were rumors floating around about a trainer in his grade, whose Pokémon died. Chris decided to ask one of his classmates if they knew anything when he arrived at his next class. He approached a student named Maxis and said: “Hi there, I’m Chris. Do you happen to know what’s going on with the dead Pokémon and whatnot?”

"I'm going back to the bleachers, I left my partner" He said as he walked back to the roof or wherever "Hey, sorry for leaving you behind" He shouted at his partner as he walked up to his partner.

Henry noticed Plusle and Minun playing tag and his own pokémon, now rested, looking eagerly to join them, only waiting for their trainer's approval. Henry chuckled, "Go ahead, I'm sure we still have some time left" he said, surprised for his pokémon's quick recovery.

A light, pleasant breeze started to blow, Fletchling was cheerfully chasing other pokémon from the air. Henry laughed and said, "Hey I don't think that's very fair," but Fletchling just ignored it.

Henry checked his PDA and noticed class time was getting closer. He called back his pokémon and turned toward's Plusle and Minun, "Hey guys, I think you'll rejoin your trainer faster if you stick with me, assuming she decides to come back to class," he suggested as he put his hoodie back and headed to the academic building.

It was a bit awkward, the whole current situation. To begin with, there were rumors currently floating around that a student's Pokemon had gotten seriously injured, even to the point of death. The news struck a sour chord in Atty, the girl fidgeting with the bottom hem of her skirt. Sure, she was expecting some tough battles, but... Death was an entirely different story.

On top of that, Atty had noticed Maxis had left her at some point while she walked over to the bleachers. One minute he was there, the next gone. Luckily, he showed up again soon after, Atty giving a sigh of relief that she'd actually get a chance to battle.

"It's fine," She spoke up, a hand idly toying with the tips of her hair. "Let's just get this over with, alright? I heard about what's going on, I don't want anymore accidents." Walking over to the provided battle area, she gripped the Heal Ball and Dusk Ball containing her choice of partners for the Double Battle. "Okay, Belle and Whisp!" With a flash of warm, bright light, the Pokemon were sent out, a small Budew and Misdreavus now standing in front and occupying Atty's side of the field.

Plusle looked up at the other trainer and nodded at him. He went over to Minun and squeaked at him to let him know what was going on. Minun also nodded, and they followed Henry and his Pokemon to the main building to wait for next class.

"YEA!!! BATTLE TIME" Maxis yelled in excitement as he got his pokemon ready "XENA, ELGI AND SLASH, LETS FIGHT!" he one again yelled in excitement. Xena backed down knowing he would be his secret weapon.

As much as she wanted to use her Wurmple, Atty also figured her other two Pokemon could use some practice as well. Her Budew and Misdreavus worked well, ready to start the battle. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Atty took the chance to call out her commands first, beginning things off with a bang. "Belle, Toxic! And Whisp, use Confuse Ray!"

Whisp, the Misdreavus, was the first to react. The orbs around her neck began to glow a bright red, waves of energy being sent out towards one of the Pokemon that Maxis had sent out, the goal being to confound and confuse his Pokemon. Belle, the Budew, was second to go, building up a bright purple goo in her sprout before launching those globs at the other Pokemon on the field. If both attacks hit, both Pokemon would be inflicted with a status condition.

"ELGI! PHYBEAM, SLASH! DUAL CHOP" Maxis yelled as Slash aimed for budew before getting hit by the waves of energy, Elgi aimed for the Misdreavus, hoping the phybeam would hit her before he got hit by the goo.

“Treeko! Dodge with an Agility, Sneasel Knock it back with an IcePunch!” Alan shouted the commands gesturing sharply for Treeko to dodge to the left toward Sneasel and further away from Torchick.

The little Pokémon lept to action Treeko with its now enhanced speed dashed behind Sneasel with Rowlet in tow. Sneasel’s little white fist was covered by a jagged layer of shimmering Blue Ice as he swung Directly at the Owl Pokémon.

Both attacks hit, though luckily Whisp's damage was minimal thanks to the Psychic vs. Ghost type disadvantage. Belle, on the other hand, was knocked back from the blows of Dual Chop. Still standing however, the defensive little grass type could take much more still.

"Whisp, counter with Astonish! Belle, try Mega Drain!" Atty called out to her Pokemon, both taking action. Whisp breifly faded from sight for a mere moment of tension, reappearing right in front of Elgi and using Astonish. Although the Ghost type attack was weak, it was still super effective.

Belle, on the other hand, took advantage of the damage done to get in a Mega Drain. Although the move against Slash wasn't particularly effective, it still healed up the grass type some.

"SLASH! ASSURANCE!" Maxis yelled "ELGI, CONFUSION!" he yelled with enthusiasm "WE CAN WIN!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU GUYS, KEEP GOING" He yelled... again

Both of Atty's Pokemon made their attempt to dodge each attack sent their way, neither being succesful. Whisp continued to tank the Psychic-type attacks being sent her way, so not much damage was being dealt to her. However, Belle's attempt to dodge didn't go over as well. Not being quick enough, she was scathed by Assurance and whatever damage she had healed the past round was nullified.

Wanting to wrap things up, and knowing it was only a matter of time before the status conditions of Maxis' Pokemon would eventually take them down, Atty called out her turn. "Whisp! Protect Belle while she uses Synthesis!"

Understanding her trainer's plan, Whisp moved in front of Belle in order to provide backup. The Budew took the opportunity to heal, drawing in sunlight as the wounds began to fade. Whisp knew exactly what to do while she was healing, the orbs around her neck glowing once more. However, the glow became increasingly more intense, sending out bright flashes of light and sparks as a Dazzling Gleam. That kind of move could hit both of his Pokemon, providing that excellent extra cover for a teammate.

Rowlet back flipped mid air and dodged the attack meanwhile Torchic jumped and took the hit. “Retaliate,” Mike said calmly. The chick Pokemon got in front of Sneasel and then attempted to use Counter. Rowlet then started flying behind Treecko without making a sound (Pokedex entry b****) and then tried to use peck again.

"QUICK ELGI! HEAL BLOCK, WE GOTTA STOP THEM HEALING, SLASH! SAME AS BEFORE" He yelled before his pokemon got hit by the dazzling gleam "HOLD IN THERE GUYS!!! JUST A LITTLE MORE"

Thankfully, Belle was quick enough that most of the damage she had taken was restored before Heal Block could take effect. Whisp continued to protect Belle, taking the Assurance. If she wasn't taking damage before, she was definitely feeling it now. The Dark-type move hit, leaving the Ghost with not much to work with.

Atty winced, knowing that if Whisp took another hit, she would be down. "Okay, time to switch things up," She looked over at her opponent's Pokemon, hoping these last two attacks would be enough. And in the case that it wasn't, she and her team had done their best. "Psywave on Slash, Mega Drain on Elgi!"

The Budew and Midreavus nodded, their two attacks synchronized. Belle sapped health from Elgi, and although her healing was blocked, the attack could still do damage. Whisp, meanwhile, glowed a soft blue, sending out her signature Psywave attack towards Slash, concentrating all her energy into doing damage.

Rowlets peck attack sends Treeko tumbling across the rooftop as Sneasel pursues the now stationary Rowlet with another ice punch. “Sneasel, Focus on Rowlet. Treeko use Quick Attack on Torchick” The Pokémon presses the attack. Sneasel swinging a flurry of Icepunches on Rowlet and Treeko charging Torchick at extreme speed. Alan knew Treeko was At a disadvantage, but the grass type had pleanty of practice fighting against fire with his training against Charmander.

"Gah! GUYS QUICK LOOK OUT" Maxis yelled as the pokemon were getting up, Slash was alerted to the incoming attack and rolled away but Elgi was hit, he was down, he struggled to get up again. It looked like he was one hit away from fainting "SLASH, ASSURANCE AGAIN! ELGI! PHYBEAM" he yelled as the pokemon pulled off their moves, Elgi with great difficulty. Maxis hoped this would be the last hit needed to win "No matter who wins, this was a good battle" Maxis said while thinking If I win I'm gonna have to hold this up, I hope my pokemon trust me enough to pull off some crazy combo move.

Rowlet got surprised by the sudden attack of Sneasel and got hit by the Ice Punch. Torchic was too slow to react and the Quick Attack hit him. Both of Mike's Pokemon were fainted. The trainer shrugged and tried to cheer his Pokemon up from losing. Then he returned them to their Pokeballs. "Good job, Alan," Mike simply said before heading back to his dorm. Since it was free period he didn't have much to do so he started listening to music and drinking.
