Psyduck has a Key
The bird hadn't swallowed the key, not yet, anyway, so when Specter attempted to yoink the key, Psyduck reacted by clamping down his bill real hard. Both of his hands went to his mouth as well, keeping it clamped shut, but as a result the whole Pokémon was dragged towards the simian.
The Duck struggled against the pull unsuccessfully, still opting to keep the key in his mouth. When he neared his foe, though, he suddenly lunged forward with a bitch slap to get the monkey to cut it out!

Master Chief

As Hareta spoke, the Spartan approached him slowly, before there was a brief pause following the conclusion of Hareta's words. He seemed to be under the impression that Chief had won the tournament, and maybe even that 117 had been the one to revive the kid. John might have been born a human, but 40 years of war had turned him into more machine than what even his armor implied. Still, he could feel a movement stir inside of him. Empathy.

Slowly, the Spartan lowered himself onto one knee to be eye-level with Hareta. "The fight isn't finished," he stated. "I'm..." he found these words difficult to spit out. Spartan-II's had never been trained to be emotionally complex. After all, you didn't want to have your killing machine talking about their feelings. Even so, John hated that he'd had to kill Hareta. It hurt that strange spot in his heart even more to be talking to the kid, even despite the boy's assurance of "no hard feelings".

"I'm sorry you can't be there to finish it," 117 awkwardly lifted an arm to place on Hareta's shoulder, before he paused, and his arm just as awkwardly fell back to his side. That was when he felt a sudden weight enter his other palm, and as he lifted it up to open his fist, he found a key similar to Hareta's in his hand. He looked up from it at Hareta, then toward the boy's own key.

He had no idea what the purpose of these keys were outside of the events his alternate self had lived---these things didn't seem to give any sort of power boost. Maybe collecting all of them allowed the user to actually have the power of the victory prize. Maybe they were part of something bigger. "I think these keys are what we need," Chief told Hareta. "To complete this tournament."

Axe

"Huh, wasn't expecting that..." Axe commented to himself as Snake showed himself flying. Of course, this time Axe had learnt to figure something was afoot after the previous trap. Trying to keep an eye on Snake, he began to think on what the soldier had done...

Maybe he came from under the bridge, but why would he...? Oh!

Figuring the bridge was a bad idea to cross now, Axe chose to move forward, seeming to go towards Snake - Something he figured Snake expected, despite him being the air - but ran right past, attempting to make it towards...A cannon! Of course it was quite a distance away, so Axe was now hoping whatever Snake was using to fly wasn't faster than running.

Hareta

"Hey, I lost fair and square. That's what a battle is, right? Don't feel bad, you won! It was a fun battle!"

Hareta offered a grin. A somewhat somber grin. One that knew his fate wasn't going to be what he had in mind, but he kept his spirits up.

"Heh...I only wish we could had a rematch."

Upon Chief taking out his own key, Hareta's glimmered slightly. The key seemed to react to it's sibling, wanting to get closer. hearing what the soldier had to say regarding them, the boy stopped in thought.

"Huh...you think so, huh?"

Nodding his head, he held the key out toward Chief, his will never once fading from his face.

"Here, you'll need it. Dunno what they'll do, but you better show the big bad who's boss! If you don't, I'll never let ya hear the end of it!"

Hareta closed his eyes, ever smiling. He was a good sport on his defeat. He was willing to accept what giving up this key meant.

"Hope you had as much fun during that fight as I did, big guy."

.....

Specter

The overlord grimaced as Psyduck approached, raising a hand and blocking the slap with his wrist. That's when he grabbed Psyduck's tightly, looking at him in the eyes.

"I have a plan to end this game, and any game to come. That key is what I require to make my plan a reality. No stop being selfish and grant the world the ending it needs!"

Psyduck
At this point, Psyduck was still a big fan of the game and the Generic Host, much more so than he was Specter. Though, the waterfowl seemed to evaluate the simian's words for a moment.

"Psyduck psyduck PSYduck duck?"

Then, he heaved his weight onto Specter, tackling him! If they went down, The Duck would continue to wrestle with his foe until further notice! It seems the ape had made a negative impression on the otherwise monkey-loving Psyduck.

Solid Snake

Still wearing Axe's shield, Snake dropped to the ground, Cypher eloping elsewhere to be summoned by the soldier later. The boy wisely raced away from the bridge, which was fine with Snake, he'd been wanting to keep the kid here. While Axe was fast for his size, Snake didn't need to move very far, whipping out his rocket launcher onto his shoulder.

The guided missile whistled out, zipping directly toward Axe, but this was a ruse, as the soldier would then instead spiral the projectile out of the way of Axe (or any counter he had to intercept it), the missile whipping about in an almost haphazard fashion, before it arced its way directly for the cannon the kid had been racing for, the missile aimed to go right down the chute and disrupt the weapon at its core.

Master Chief

Hareta held the key out for the Spartan to take. Gently, he plucked the key away, resting it beside the second. As he could recall from the absorbed memories of his alternate self, this was easily more keys than he'd achieved before. Of course, there were more desperate and powerful forces at play, entire factions of enemies. A tournament was a bit easier.

And Specter was next on the list.

"Hope you had as much fun during that fight as I did, big guy," Hareta smiled, though a hint of solemness lay behind it. It was here that Chief raised his hand again, and this time he placed it gently upon Hareta's shoulder.

"You're one tough sumbitch," John praised, breaking his steely vocabulary for a moment to indulge in a jarhead-level compliment. In retrospect, Chief wasn't certain if that kind of compliment would settle as well with Hareta as it would with most marines and UNSC soldiers, so 117 followed up with a simple; "Yeah. It was fun."

Specter

His attempt at reasoning with the Pokémon went sour, the duck attempting to turn this into a second brawl. Except, they had made one major miscalculation. The reason they were in this void in the first place.

Still locked onto the key psychically, Specter forced Psyduck off of him, raising him into the air.

"You are alive right now, only temporarily. That is because of what you have. The entire purpose of you still living is to pass it to me. Nothing more. So fulfill your role!"

While keeping Psyduck raised in the air, his cutlass unsheathed itself and floated via Specter's psychic powers. It twirled to face Psyduck before it would plunge into him, forcing him to cough off the key. And if by some reason he did not. It would simply carve an orfice for it to escape from.

.......

PING!

With those final words, Chief had been returned to the plaza. Only without Hareta by his side. The glowing warmth of the key, although dulled, was still felt on chief's palms, despite not appearing before him anymore. But now? He lay alone. Alone with his thoughts. Not a soul in the plaza, and yet, nobody was left in Specter's match either.

Axe

Axe yelped as he saw, and felt, the guided missiles swipe right past him, before gulping as he saw it enter the cannon. Deciding not to risk it, Axe knew he had to change his plans on the fly now, turning around to run at Snake while the cannon blew up. As soon as he got close, he let out a small cry.
"Got you now!"
And this time, no escape!

Now close, he quickly moved to take back his shield, in the process attempting to damage Snake's launcher with the help of the red stone. If he was successful in regaining his shield, his next step would be to try and bash Snake's face in with it after jumping.

The first explosion erupted the base of the cannon, but almost instantaneously, the cannon's ammunition erupted as well, tripling the size of the explosion that sent super-heated shrapnel flying all over. Axe was charging forward, seemingly triumphant at the prospect of engaging in close-quarters combat. He was headed for the shield again, a red stone in his other hand aimed for the launcher, though in the time it took Axe to reach him, the soldier had placed the weapon back into his inventory, and was now swinging Ax's own shield.

To Snake's surprise, an axe head emerged from the shield as Snake swung it, the blade clashing against the red stone. Axe's other hand had found the edge of the shield, but David swept a foot while Axe was distracted with this, aiming to kick the kid's legs out from under him. If successful, Snake would use the momentary leverage in, well, leverage to use Axe's hold on the shield to heavily slam him into the ground.

Death
Though his mini-scythes were reflected, this was an easy counter to perform, especially with his second opponent focusing on the first. His main scythe quickly moving over to deflect the incoming scythes, destroying them on impact, Death was granted more opportunity to charge his portals. And though they were briefly gathered by the winds, this did not prevent his mini-scythes from keeping up their constant spawning and chasing after his enemies, nor did it stop Death's Scythe from spinning protectively around him as a sort of guardian. Just a bit more, and then things could really get started..

Psychic Duck
Psyduck's eyes went wide and his arms flailed as he was lifted up via the key clamped shut in his mug. Specter went on with his pompous narcissism, which only riled up The Duck more. However, the appearance of the hurty-sword did the opposite, meekening him. Right before the sword was to plunge into him, Psyduck let go of the key, but with a Hydro Pump ready, blasting the key out of Specter's psychic grip, if only temporarily. He landed un his buttox with a bounce, and stuck out his tongue at the rather rude monkey. That was his final act of defiance, just in case Specter hadn't already gotten the hint that Psyduck didn't like him.

Psyduck will return...

Axe

"Gh!" Axe yelped out as he was slammed to the ground by Snake, though he kept his grip. "Not...gonna take me down that easy!" He hissed, the red stone glowing as he began to try to pull the Shield to get it away from Snake and turn the sharpest end to Snake, Axe's strength seeming to almost instantly increase despite merely seeming closer to that of his size beforehand.

During the struggle, Axe quickly realised he needed to fight another way and, despite still being on the ground, he tried to kick out his legs, snaking his way up to launch a few kicks at Snake's legs.

Within seconds, the key was snatched in the air by the primate, despite the active defiance of the duck. With it in his grasp, he gave a final look at Psyduck, who stuck his tongue out.

"Mhm...been nice knowing ya. Ciao."

With that, he snapped his fingers, and on cue, the entire realm of space shook and filled with bright light. All the senses were overwhelmed as the realm shifted and churned. Thats when he had suddenly emerged back in the plaza, with one less duck in tow. His chair had transported with him. Lola, the chip, and other information safely aboard it. Now the ape stood face to face with Chief, who no doubt saw his arrival.

"Ha, I take it the child had a key as well." Specter noted. "It seems that we are the last men and mon standing. Normally I would say I'd take no pleasure in eliminating you, but in this case? That would be a lie. I would think the world would be all the better if less like you existed in it."

The lobby has changed upon his return. More statues stood around, this time of all members of the tournament. They formed half-circle rows in a wide arc around the Spartan. The back row was the first eliminated, the next row being the second round of eliminations, so on and so forth until two status stood close by; Hareta and Psyduck. Despite being small individuals respectively, their statues stood nearly 20 feet tall, and were among the smallest of the gigantic statues around them.

The statues of the still active contestants now stood by the gateways to each match. While the refreshments table remained, it seemed to have upgraded to some sort of high tech liquid fountain, capable of dispensing any liquid in the multiverse, according to the advertisement on its side.

Finally, the crack in the sky seemed to have grown exponentially. In fact, calling it a crack, or even a tear, was a massive disservice, as about a quarter of the entire skybox had now been ripped away to reveal a shifting mass of incomprehensible matter beyond, swirling colors and substances unknowable to any fourth dimensional life forms, and possibly even more advanced than that.

With one look at the screen displaying Specter's match, 117 could easily conclude what was happening.
Like Chief and Hareta, there was an exhanging of keys. Most mysteriously, the Generic Host was nowhere to be found, his usual pedestal off to the side sitting abandoned.

"Kalmiya," John spoke, "run through all of the collected data on Specter, compile a new dossier."
The AI set out to build a new file on the simian, as intel gathered in the more recent close-up fight had provided some insights into the ape. Almost as though summoned, he suddenly appeared a few meters opposite the Chief.

After taking a short moment to soak in his surroundings, Specter smirked at the Spartan, dispelling his fresh insult with little hesitation.
"I would think the world would be all the better if less like you existed in it," the simian concluded smugly.
"Likewise," was the only response 117 gave, his gaze turning away from Specter passively to observe the remaining battles. Three left.
There were so few of them now... Most of the alliances made previously seemed null at this point. Fortunately, the likes of Rebellio, Axe, and even the morally ambiguous Death remained, but for Specter's alliance, Metal Sonic still remained. The only individuals Chief had yet to form a personal opinion on were Amaterasu and Snake.

If the Chief could overcome Specter, he was concerned with the prospect of the final fight in this tournament, and the potential of facing Metal. While Hareta may have defeated him, and John had defeated Hareta, that didn't automatically mean the Spartan would come out on top.

Solid Snake

"Not... gonna take me down that easy...!" Axe grunted as he pushed back. Snake could recognize a test of strength when he saw one, and if the kid didn't want to be taken down so bad, then the soldier would pick him back up. Using Axe's own pushing strength as leverage, Snake would suddenly pull back, aiming to lift Axe up when he least expected it.

If the kid wanted his shield back, then the soldier would give it back. So as Snake would yank, he'd turn Axe in the air with the quick ferocity of the tug, and let the shield slide off his arm, effectively forcing Axe to go flying if he held onto the shield. The purpose of this was the small block of C4 plastered against the inside of the shield, and as it was released into the air with Axe, it would detonate.

The use of the physics leverage, and the thrust of the shield, would also be the result of preventing the shield's axe head from cutting into the soldier, only glancing off a few beard hairs.

Axe

Just as Snake began to pull up, where Axe had assumed he'd get his shield back just before, Axe took one hand off to pull out a small bottle; Monster Perfume. As Snake began to pull, Axe sprayed the disgusting smell directly to his face, before letting it go flying out his hand and onto the edge of the platform as he let out a "Woah!" when Snake had him go into the air by his own shield!

Of course, Axe held on, though was struggling to keep a stable grip as it kept turning in mid air. He noticed a small strange block on the inside before he heard some kind of tick, turning the shield's inside away from him in fear. The explosion sent him flying back to the ground, since the shield's inside was facing up, though Axe caught it back just before it could land on him. He soon got up, groaning.

"Sheesh, what was that...? Some kind of firecracker...?" He wondered to himself out loud, before remembering Snake was still there and deciding to duck away to the side to hide from Snake himself, attempting to take the Icon of stealth at his own game by sneaking into the shadows, though he wasn't exactly the stealthiest...

A lil' squirt was given to Snake of a foul stench. His nose twitched as his eyes slightly watered. Certainly among some of the worst smells he'd ever smelled in a while, maybe even top 10, but it reminded him of beer.

... And now he wanted a drink.

Snorting out some of the stench, Snake watched as Axe shot back up, then darted away, clearly trying to hide. David blinked, before he dropped to a knee, placing his forefinger behind his ear, accessing his codec, its telepathic communicator making it impossible for Axe to hear anything being "said", as it was more of a thought conversation.

Snake: This kid can tank a lot of explosives... I'm getting the impression firepower is only so effective.
Snake: And what's with this red rock he keeps swingin' all over the place?
Otacon: That's the "Red Stone", Snake. When activated, it enhances Axe in most physical regards by about fivefold his original power.
Snake: Really? Hm... that would explain some things.
Otacon: I would suggest trying a different approach. You've used your explosions, now use your head, Snake! That's Outer Heaven, surely you picked it for a reason?
Snake: Yeah, I did, I just can't... wait, I've got an idea.
Otacon: What is it?
Snake: You'll see. Have you found out any weaknesses for the kid?
Otacon: In a word: you, Snake.
Snake: Huh?
Otacon: Axe can scale to the power level of his opponent using the red stone. Since you have a low power level, Axe isn't able to scale up to much.
Snake: Wow, thanks.
Otacon: That wasn't an insult, the fact you've gotten this far should be proof enough that you don't need physical superiority to win---and that's exactly how Axe plays the game. Now get back in there and show us why you're the greatest soldier of all time!
Snake: Thanks, Otacon. Talk to you in a few.

Only a few short moments had gone by, and while Axe slunk about, Snake's Solid Eye had been tracking him. Now, as Snake rose back up to his feet, he placed his hands on his hips. "Huh, I wonder where the kid went?" he looked left, then right, then between his legs, before stroking his beard thoughtfully. "Maybe he went this way," he said aloud, and moved toward a half-opened hangar door opposite to Axe. Snake's goal was to lead Axe into the interior of the base, where the soldier's true motive for the map would come into play.

Metal Sonic
As the he threw scythes sailed towards the wolf, Metal directed his attention to his other opponent. He blasted forward at blazing speeds, getting into close quarters with the reaper in an instant.

Not wasting anytime, Metal electrified his entire body, using his Spark Field (NOT the Ring Spark Field, that one is stronger, covers more area, and requires venting). Now that he had a physical edge, Metal quickly dashed forward, curled into a ball, aiming for the reaper’s torso.

He had to keep the orbiting scythe in mind, however. If he strayed too far from Death’s body, he would be in the scythe’s path. So he had to play the risky game.

Death
Finally, his summoning portals were just about done. Now, it was just a manner of placing them. That is when he noticed his metallic opponent taking a charge toward him. Hm, interesting. But, still foolish nonetheless. The reaper bided his time, waiting right until it seemed his enemy was too close to make any sudden moves.. until Death's frame squished together and vanished, his massive scythe already zooming over to where he was, spinning rapidly like a saw blade, ready to saw this nuisance in half!

The harvester of souls appeared a ways above the robotic hedgehog, his hands held high in the air. From the corners a few meters around Metal Sonic, different kinds of portals appeared. Purple, with gilded runes lining their outer rim. Out from them shot massive, metallic skeletal hands that held on to the other, forming a sort of cage around Metal Sonic that, if he tried avoiding the scythe, would allow it to bounce off the chains and fly right on back toward him!

The original portals, the dark-blue and black ones, had been teleported alongside Death. And out of them now dove his most trusted soldiers - Slogra, the spear-wielding bird demon and Gaibon, the fire-breathing bat demon. Gaibon had gone into a glide to pick up Slogra by his shoulders and flew by his master's side, the both of them ready to protect him and to follow his orders so they can vanquish his enemies.

Axe

Axe felt an immense sense of pride again as he watched Snake talk, soon moving to begin to follow into the shadowy interior of the base and taking the long way around to stay in the shadows...

Gotta make sure it's not really a trap, or at least that I have some way to hold over him!
fwoom..

With his preparations made with the help of his steel-toed boots, Axe entered the interior, holding his breath tightly to his chest...

Solid Snake

The moment the soldier had disappeared around the bend into the partially opened hangar, he'd sprung into action, silently striding off and away toward a specific location, so that the moment Axe tip-toed into the hangar, he was met with an open and empty space. No aircraft filled the hangar at the moment, though there were a multitude of heavy crates and boxes lying about, some haphazardly, some in neat stacks.

The moment Axe stepped inside, however, the half-closed hangar door suddenly rolled shut with a loud screech, and plunged the room into darkness. After the roar of noise from the door, the only sound that followed was Axe's own breathing.

A distant voice echoed from somewhere further within the interior, Snake's voice to be specific. It sounded faint, evidently far away.
"Maybe he went this way."

Axe

"Yah!" Axe let out a small yelp as he heard the screech, having assumed Snake was behind him now. Realising what happened, he gulped.
Alright, stay calm...He's a bit far away, so I have to be careful in this dark.

Axe, now in complete darkness and taking a deep breath, slowly began to step forward. After a short bit of walking (Doing his best to keep on his feet to try and hide any sound of him falling over), he began to get closer to where he could've sworn he heard the noise. Making the reasonable assumption the hangar couldn't possibly be that much bigger - Why, it was already close to the size of the castle back home, it felt! - He revealed something to himself in his left hand, an item with a fuse which he threw forward. Once it landed out of sight, barely illuminated by the flame on the end of the fuse that was set outside, Axe ducked behind his shield, hoping his friend's own firecracker could turn the tide...

Slogra & Gaibon
One paid attention to the metallic opponent, one to the white wolf. Together, the pair noticed the canine prepare for an attack. Quickly, a volley of icy orbs seemed to be flying their way. What a rather simple attack. Gaibon had breathed out his own volley of fireballs at the incoming beads, clashing against them and neutralizing them with his own. Any that he missed would be jabbed out of the air by Slogra, who thrusted his weapon forwards quickly in a flurry of stabs.

Now going on the offensive, Gaibon had flipped around mid-air, throwing Slogra into the air. With a flip, Slogra now landed on Gaibon's back, who had gone into a dive towards the sun goddess, Slogra holding on to one of Gaibon's horns with one hand, his spear in the other. Gaibon maintained breathing out his continous stream of fireballs, while Slogra waited out for the right moment. He'd be ready to jump off of Gaibon should they get close enough and was ready to ward off this wolf creature should it try to intercept their diving attack.

Solid Snake

His ploy had worked. A small room stuck out of the side of the hangar, several meters off the ground---the control room. From there, Snake had closed the hangar door, and he'd also used the intercom system specifically to tap into a part of the facility deeper in, from where Axe had heard Snake's voice echoing from, giving the kid the impression that the soldier had gone much further in.

As the Solid Eye saw cleanly through the darkness, Snake had quietly descended back down a thin ladder to the ground, watching as Axe cautiously moved forward, before he tossed a firecracker ahead of him, providing minimal light. Admittedly, Snake wasn't sure what the strategy there was. An attempt at catching the mercenary off guard? A brief flash of light to illuminate the world around him? The latter seemed the most likely, so Snake answered by pulling out his tranq gun, and just before the firecracker went off, Snake fired a small tranquilizer dart five meters at Axe's neck from behind, the kid bracing himself behind his shield, directed at the firecracker.

Rebellio

Weavile had managed to slip just past Rebellio, leaving an icicle behind her as she flew up into the air. Detaching the string from his body as he turned around midair, the Falcon swung his scythe to cleave the icicle in half. Thread burst from below the Adept, reaching the ground before he did, taking the shape of a trampoline.

Using his creation to bounce right back into the air, Rebellio's scythe split apart into two spears, one in each hand--- before the Adept chucked them at Weavile, waiting a little bit before the second throw to either strike the Pokémon's next position or use it as a melee weapon.

Axe
Of course, while Snake wasn't quite right on Axe's intentions with the firecracker and the subsequent explosion, Axe had no way to know of Snake's own plan, much less of his seeming control over the situation in the hanger.

Being the legendary master of stealth he was, Snake was mostly unheard by Axe even in this near silence of the hanger, but there are some noises you cannot control. Noises that, in here, stuck out like a sore thumb in the early morning.
Such as a tranquillizer dart being fired from just a few meters away, which elicits a small sound that, while far quieter than most types of weaponry in order to usually avoid scaring the target, is still there as a notable sound in nigh absolute silence, and this was just enough for Axe to barely hear, and turning his shield just a little. The dart itself stuck itself into the side of his barely turned shield. The explosion from the firecracker came immeadiantly afterwards, the force of it getting a small yelp from the boy as it pushed him forward and knocked him off his feet, as the back of his shorts lit on fire. He quickly noticed and put it out with his hands before getting to his feet.

"Aha!" He let out a small cry of
excitement at his realisation of where Snake could be, beginning to dart towards where the tranquilizer seemed to have been shot from, shooting out the pickaxe end to extend it before swinging it with a wide swing to try and slash at Snake, his red stone giving off a small glow as flames seemed to slightly protrude from the pickaxe.

Deflected, but only barely. Snake pulled his weapon back, eyeing Axe as he was toppled off his feet by his own explosive. Smartly, the soldier dropped a block of C4 to the ground before he quickly stalked off, the kid patting out the fire to his shorts before he shot up and raced his way toward where Snake's last position had been. As Axe ran, Snake was a couple meters opposite him, moving in tandem to move behind the kid once again.

Seeing the red stone produce flames, Snake's eyes narrowed as he realized it could reveal his C4 prematurely, so he immediately activated it with a chemical activation, setting it off. While it wouldn't be a lethal detonation, it would undoubtedly make the boy unstable in his rush, probably throw him back---and if Snake's execution went to plan, his new tranq dart being fired would fly truer than his last, once again behind the boy.

Axe

Surprised to find himself missing his attack, Axe stumbled forward, before Snake's C4 went and blew up right under him. This explosion, since Axe was much closer to it, hurt a lot more, and sent the boy tumbling out of the blast, groaning and coughing away.

Then he felt a dart strike his neck.
"Ow!" He yelped, before starting to...feel a little...tired...
Ugh...so...tired...

Beginning to fall unconscious, Axe fell down on his front, just barely awake still, if you could call it that at this point.

No...can't...If I sleep now...I...die...

The young hero's mind began to race, trying to force itself to stay awake.
I...can't...

Of course, by some force of miracle, his mind began to try and think of reasons to keep going.
Everyone would...everyone would...Ma-Matock...Nelz...Pasmina...
Mom! I...I need to be there, for them! Please, don't fall!

With his thoughts fleeting as he got closer and closer to falling asleep, he saw a small black stone slip out of his satchel and to his hand.
I need more power!

Suddenly, once more, Axe's eyes burst wide open, as a flash of light crossed his chest and body before a pair of wings shot of out his back, seemingly demonic in appearance as markings began to appear on his face. The tranquilliser dart fell out of his neck, with its effect seemingly beginning to weaken on the boy, as he was pulled to the air. Before anything else, he suddenly flew up, bursting throwing the roof of the facility and creating a large hole, shedding light into the hangar.

Without another word, Axe dove back down to the facility in another spot, shedding more and more light in as he repeated the process, tearing through the hangar roof so much it may as well have not been there by the end. With this done, he now quickly looked to try and find Snake on the ground. If successful, his next move was to dive directly down on Snake to try and obliterate him right then and there. If unsuccessful in finding him, his next plan would instead to be to go under the whole platform, to try and tear through the support pillars (at least, that's what the boy would call them) holding it all up over the water in his anger. This...monster form, it's red eyes gave it clear Axe only had one goal given: Absolute victory.

Metal Sonic
Thinking fast, Metal grabbed the scythe’s handle as it came towards him. He then fired a beam from his chest, snapping one of the chains. Scythe still in hand, Metal flew out of the cage and into the air.

The scythe was being difficult, almost like it had a mind of its own, so Metal decided to get rid of it for the time being. He spun around rapidly then let go of the scythe, causing it to fly at high speeds directly into a stone pillar, lodging it in there.

Now that that was dealt with for now, Metal focused on his opponents. The two minions were busy dealing with the wolf, so Metal focused on Death himself. Metal was currently above Death, out of his current field of view, so perhaps he could get the drop on him. Metal fired a laser from his core, aiming directly for the collector of souls to get him from behind!

Death
His opponent out of view, Death focused on his scythe, getting ready to dive.. until a laser pierced him.

..or rather, his robes, as there was now a hole in the lower, torn half of his cloak, the laser having narrowly missed his ribcage. Angered at this and aware of his opponent's position now, Death now held up both hands, one arm more extended than the other. While his passive mini-scythes were spawning in small, perpetual quantities, his most-extended hand fired out an endless stream of multiple mini-scythes, blocking out the laser with their own rapidly-spawning amount.

With the other, Death fired large, blue orbs that arced around his left and right. As they came close to Metal Sonic, they quickly formed into even more massive, demonic skulls that got ready to chomp down on the robot to deal massive damage. His actual scythe, instead of trying to wriggle free, imploded itself into an implosion of mini-scythes that begun flying outward, potentially striking both his opponents should they not look out for the expanding circle of mini-scythes.

Solid Snake

The boy collapsed, weakly falling to the ground as the sedatives went into effect. Satisfied, Snake tucked his weapon away, but just as he was about to tug out a cigar, he paused, his brow furrowing together. No fanfare had begun to play, and no portal had opened. This little scuffle wasn't as open and shut as it had initially seemed.

What happened next confirmed as much, the boy transforming as he rose into the air, a monstrous personality emerging. As Snake watched, he defiantly lit his cigar and slid it into his mouth. Monster Axe then began to rip holes into the ceiling in his fury, the soldier observing every movement the creature made, who was putting on not only an impressive display---but a revealing one. If Axe had any intellect to him, that was overridden by his final cry. According to the Solid Eye, the beast had nothing but rage controlling it. In fact, it heavily reminded Snake of his first battle in this particular tournament, taking on Ranamon, who had transformed into Calmaramon---a fight he'd barely won, admittedly.

Taking a puff of the cigar, Snake sighed, sliding away his lighter as the beast looked down and let out a roar, its wings flapping to propel it down to the soldier. There were still plenty more tricks up the soldier's sleeves, and despite how powerful this monster form appeared, Snake knew he'd taken on things just as powerful, and then some. The trick was simple.

"He who controls the battlefield, controls history."

And here, he'd be writing it.

So the moment Monster Axe charged, Snake shot backward, propelling himself into a backflip, extending his arms to catch himself, and just as he'd push off the metal with his arms, the monster would land, a shockwave of kinetic energy propelling outward, and lifting Snake up as he pushed off the ground. Calling on a nuclear strike would be out of the question here---Snake doubted he could cover the ground needed to evade his most devastating attack while having it strike his opponent, but Snake did have something else he'd been holding onto for a while. Something he may need.

While it hadn't seemed that way at first, it was quickly revealed that Snake's plan of using not just his leap, but even the kinetic push, to his advantage, having angled himself so that as he went flying, he soared right through a doorway that led to a short hall, and subsequently a set of spiraling stairs that led deeper into the facility, and directly toward Snake's originally intended location when he'd first selected Outer Heaven.

Grabbing on the center bar as he moved, Snake began to rapidly spin down the length of the pole, swinging much faster than he could run down it, knowing full well that the monster would come charging after him.

Metal Sonic
Metal quickly deactivated the laser as it was clear he was not going to overpower the endless barrage of scythes. The droid then blasted forward at speeds high enough to leave a shockwave in his wake, which caused the mini-scythes from the previously large scythe to go off track, avoiding him. Metal moved to the side to avoid the endless stream of scythes coming from Death’s hand, then abruptly changed directions to avoid the large skulls that tried to munch down on him. While he was doing all of this, he continuously moved forward towards Death.

Now above Death, Metal then moved down towards him at incredibly fast speeds. During his descent, Metal crossed his arms, causing a large black diamond to appear around him. This was his Black Shield and it protected him from all damage. He had effectively turned himself into an incredibly dangerous and durable projectile, and he was heading right for Death!

Death
Hm. Tricky, tricky. This opponent was a fast one, weren't they? But, quick as this robot may be, this speed will be its eventual downfall. While it rotated and dodged the projectiles, Death begun lowering himself and ceased his fire, instead opting to create many purple portals in front of himself as the metallic hedgehog went above him. Then, when it finally tried crashing down on him, multiple metal hands fired repeatedly out of the created wall of portals, all clutched into fists. They quickly became a consecutive barrage, aiming to not just push back the hedgehog, but to shatter his barrier and beat him to scrap!

Amaterasu
Her beads hissed as they fizzled against the fire. Amaterasu kept her assault up, before flicking her tail in a spiral.
Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind blew through the arena, likely sending many things off course, including the midair monsters, as well as sending the flaming breath back on them

Weavile
Weavile landed back on the ground, catching sight of the spear soon after. Just as quick, she hopped up a bit to meet the spear . She grabbed its handle, and used its own momentum to turn and fling it back at Rebellio, gauging his next action with the second spear.

Metal Sonic
As the hands rapidly assaulted his shield, Metal slowed down but did not stop. However, he could not keep the shield up long enough for him to reach Death, and even if he did it wouldn’t do much considering his loss of speed. So, Metal switched to plan B.

Metal deactivated the shield and shot downwards in a fraction of a second. He then shot towards Death likely before he even had time to properly react, his body coated in a field of energy. He had used his V.Maximum Overdrive, and it quadrupled his speed. He intended to do big damage to Death here before he had time to react.

Death
There it was. The moment the shields were lowered. That is what Death was waiting for. Not for when his opponent would change direction, but just the moment he saw that shield start to dissipate. Speedy as his opponent was, even just the fading of the black sphere was grounds enough for Death to vanish, his frame squishing together. A fair bit away now, he had spun his portals around, surrounding his previous position. These fists would find their way, even if their positioning was a bit off. He'd keep them pumping out a constant barrage, except where it had previously been from one side, it would now be from all directions, still as non-stop as ever!

Slogra & Gaibon
Gaibon had turned himself around in the pushback, using these new currents in order to boost his velocity even more, flying up in the air alongside Slogra, who climbed around the bat-like demon to allow his pal Gaibon to grab onto his shoulders with his claws again. The dragon-like, bat-winged demon looped in the air and did a straight dive toward the ground, before taking a sharp turn and swooping over to the sun goddess at incredible speeds, aiming to crash right into the white wolf! Before taking a dive however, Slogra had leapt off of his buddy, using his jumping ability and the momentum to come crashing diagonally down at Amaterasu, spear-first, both now performing a sort of team attack to both impale- and ram into the wolf at the same time!

Amaterasu
Monster from above, monster from below. Despite their confidence, Amaterasu was unbothered by their techniques. She could've done many things, but Death was the ringleader; she needed to end this quick.
Two lines later, a sizable mass of mist blew up under the sun goddess, encasing both monsters and the wolf. However, unlike Ammy, Slogra and Gaibon had slowed to a near stop, inching toward and ahead respectively, while Amaterasu was unaffected.

It would be costly move(in terms of ink) but Amaterasu knew what she needed to do.
All she had were four real time seconds, though those would look like eons for the ghastly beasts. Especially since, after a quick swipe of her tail left an infinity sign, they were both engulfed in fire.

A massive explosion of holy flames burst from the sign, as Amaterasu ran out of the mist, leaving the two to their fate. She watched Death and Metal Duke it out as she approached, waiting for an opportunity.

Metal Sonic
As Death folded in on himself, Metal clicked in noticeable annoyance as he soared into the trees, considerable past Death’s previous location, leaving the fists punching the air. The droid touched onto the ground and screeched to a halt, beginning to vent.

Metal turned his head towards his opponents. The wolf was observing, seemingly waiting for an opportunity, and Death had not done anything else yet. Metal calculated the amount of time it would take for him to vent, and decided it was best to ambush an enemy and use the trees as cover to approach. By the time he reached one, his venting would be over.

So Metal did just that. He retreated into the trees and circled around to the other side of the battlefield, where Amaterasu was. He then blasted forth from the trees and fired 3 balls of energy towards the wolf, adjusting his aim if the wolf moved.

Amaterasu
Ammy trotted along the frozen floor, carefully watching Metal and Death. They appeared to have been in intense combat, before Metal disengaged and flew into some trees
Well that probably wasn't good.
Amaterasu skidded to a halt, still looking at Death. Until the sounds of whirring and energy caught her attention. In one smooth motion, she sent a line of ink behind herself, sending the balls of energy back in one ink line.

Rebellio

The spear he'd already thrown was sent back towards Rebellio, the Falcon using his own spear to bat it aside, trowing the one in his hand at Weavile as he fell back down. The spear morphed into a mace just before it hit Weavile, while the spear that had been knocked aside was pulled back toward Rebellio by a string, morphing into a scythe once it was in his grasp once more.

Another string shot out from Rebellio's left hand, striking a nearby chunk of ice left behind by one of Weavile's earlier attacks. With a hefty swing, the Adept launched it towards Weavile, aiming to leave her with little breathing room as he closed in behind it.
