(This RP looks like it's going to be so amazing!)
Knights Reliquary
Name: Mason Kendrick
Age: 20
Personality:
Intuitive yet mild, Mason is a kind and subdued soul that tends to balance out the tension of those around himself. Though he primarily tends to prefer his own company to strangers, most people he meets are charmed by the boy's sweet spirit and calming voice, arguably some of his greatest strengths. Mason has a great talent for reading the current environment and adapting to new situations with ease. This also extends to his eventual potential relationships with other people, as he can bolster the moods of people in his vicinity with his refined personality.
However, Mason is definitely more complex under the surface. He always looks for way to improve himself, yet even so, he often keeps his problems and conflicts to himself and may come across as standoffish. Because of this, he does have some issues 'letting people in,' so to speak. Mason trusts his instincts above all else, as they have never turned him the wrong direction. He is not afraid or completely unwilling to take less morally righteous actions should the occasion be absolutely necessary.
Mason is definitely more go-with-the-flow, but he isn't afraid to give voice to his concerns. He is determined yet mild, understated yet spirited, a layered individual who only opens up to those willing to take the time and get to know him on a deeper level. However, once you have his trust, you have a loyal and trusting companion for life.
Appearance:
Mason stands at 5'11", his frame made of strong, lean muscle under caramel-tinted skin. Short, dark-brown hair, green-blue eyes, and a small vertical scar across his left eyebrow adorn his head and face.
When called for duty, Mason wears a simple white shirt with protective black leather-lined body armor on top in the form of a steel chestplate and bracers for his forearms. His pants are loose enough to allow for swift movement and to keep him cool during long journeys. Completing the look are a pair of black boots, light enough to keep him quick but very durable, which cover his shins very well.
Favored Weapon:
Dual wields two twelve-inch long Colichemarde daggers, 'Dawn and Dusk'. Each blade was forged wide at the forte then steeped down or narrowed for the rest of its length before ending in a wicked point, them to be used to parry or oppose even the heaviest weapons without breaking, yet remain light and supple enough to take full advantage of the lightning quick point. Occasionally used by Mason as throwing knives. The hilt of both feature a decorative, yet highly functional, double shell guard, complete with finger loops and knuckle bow, while the grip is completely wire wrapped and capped with a matching pommel.
Skills??:
The baron Robert Kendrick, having been a proud rags-to-riches knight before Mason, taught his only son everything he knew from a young age. As the only male after his father in a family of five belonging to minor nobility, Mason was imparted with the knowledge necessary to survive in battle, the wilderness, and court. His access to good education allowed him to grow up with the histories and proper customs of Amoria, but he was also taught to have a strong sense of individualism, critical thinking, and cunning. His innate good nature, looks, and friendly mannerisms let him get close to whomever he wishes, making him an effective persuader or even spy.
Trained in combat since childhood, Mason is very quick and agile, and his surprising strength often takes opponents by surprise. Though he was taught to wield a variety of weapons, he much prefers the reflexive movements required by daggers, but he has also honed his accuracy to the extent that his secondary weapon would be a bow. Without weapons, he is also considerably adept at hand-to-hand combat. However, Mason's endurance certainly requires work, and though he can take hits very well it would only take a well-placed attack or two to keep him down. His relative inexperience and youth compared to other knights may also get the better of him at times as well.
His motto when it comes to fighting is simple: End it quickly and effectively, no matter what it takes.
Hunting and cooking are also passions of his.
Partner Pokémon: Freya, the Haxorus
Gender: Female
Armor: Thanks to the Haxorus species' naturally occurring armor, all she really needs to wear is a sleek black breastplate that covers her soft underbelly.
Ability: Mold Breaker
Personality:
Solid armor, imposing and threatening stature, razor sharp claws, and of course enormous axe-like tusks impose fear into the hearts of the inexperienced. On the battlefield, this Haxorus can be found amidst the densest piles of shredded victims, employing each and every attack at her disposal to tear down enemies with bloodthirsty hunger. There is absolutely no kill like overkill.
As a token of her species, however, Freya is usually very docile, friendly, and even playful... once her trust is gained. Her relationship with her trainer is almost mirror-like, as the two tend to gravitate towards solitude whenever able and are annoyed easily, though her case may directly stem from natural Haxorus territorialism. This nature tends to extend towards loved ones as well, increasing her drive to protect and possibly accounting for her savagery in battle.
How you met:
December the 11th marked Mason Kendrick's birthday, the annual event always being a decadent affair at Kendrick Manor. Despite the small gathering of attendees, mostly family, the baron never spared expense in preparing for his children's birthdays. On that day, five years ago specifically, fifteen year old Mason spent his time happily with his family, sharing amazing food with grandparents, aunts and uncles, and playing games with his cousins and two younger sisters. He always enjoyed days like these, where he could just enjoy life and relax, breaking the monotony of training and studying as his father groomed him for knighthood. Throughout the years he couldn't help but develop a growing resentment towards the man, one which he hated to admit. He only wanted what was best for Mason after all, and he certainly appreciated his standard of living, but... he felt trapped, alone. Being closer to his mother, Claudia, he had often spoken with her about his feelings, but she only urged him to hold on. "It's going to be okay," she would say. "Everything will work out for the best."
As Mason found out that day, she was right. His fifteenth birthday was drawing to a close, and he had just received what he thought was his final gift: a pair of gorgeous, lethal Colichemarde daggers from his father, imported from and perfectly forged by some of the best smiths in Amoria. His mother had one surprise for him, though, and after all the guests had left she handed him a glass display case with a beautiful dark green, black striped egg on a cushion within. She had given him a partner, someone he could share life with. A few days later, the egg hatched and the cutest little Axew emerged; since then, Mason and Freya were basically inseparable, training together, fighting together, growing together.
