Ask to Join Escape from Team Rocket

Kai mulled it over before nodding. It was a reasonable explanation, and he figured could behave himself for at least a few days. "Yeah," he said, pausing for a moment to think. "Sounds good. We'd definitely have to try and lay low, though; there's some Pokémon not found commonly in the city unless belonging to a trainer, and we have to avoid unnecessary attention. I figure if we can do that, we're golden. So, where's the nearest city?"

Luna looked at Kai then thought of a joke. "Actually I can't be golden" she said jokingly, putting out a paw. "But I get what you mean" she said and put her paw back on the ground.

"Lemme check!" Mint scrambled up the tallest tree he could see, chuckling at Luna's joke softly. The beginning of a worn pathway showed itself, leading toward something he couldn't see in the distance. He went back down then to announce the news. "There's a path to a city right over there. Let's go stealth!" He cheered, excited for using his skill for helping his friends.

Luna looked at Mint with a smile then became serious. "Where is the path?" She asked, a hint of excitement to actually be out and about in secret. 'Hopefully the plan works' she thought with an uneasy feeling.

"It's just over there. Hard to see because of all the leaves in the way. But Fury knows what I'm talking about." He laughed out of stress and shivered again. "Come on, let's go." His voice was more urgent this time.

Kai grinned, both at the enthusiasm, and their newfound hope. "Then let's go," he replied, turning in the direction Mint suggested. He wasn't sure how long of a trip it would be, but he kept his ears perked for any dangers they might run into.

Rage didn't hesitate either. He just followed the group. "Alright. Here we go!" He was nervous. Before getting captured, he heard about those "cities". It was the place where the humans lived, at least most of them. That was the only thing he knew for real. He had never been in one before, and he was a little excited about seeing one too. He didn't know what to expect.

The grass type led everyone down the trail steadily. Fury took the back, and before long, they reached the city. "Fury, you go make a distraction while I bring these guys to a house. It's an abandoned one. If you can't find it, then I'll get you there later." Mint commanded worriedly and leapt away, motioning for the others to come with him.

Kai padded after Mint, but paused for a moment to look back at Fury in concern. "Need help?" He asked. He knew he was slowing down their progress, but he also knew that the last thing they needed on top of everything was a missing teammate.

The Arcanine shook his head. "I'll draw enough attention. You go." He ran into the center of a road and started barking loudly, people's annoyed looks directed at him. Some trainers approached him with the intent of battle while he pranced about. "Fury can take care of it, Kai. Hurry!" Mint hustled the electric type.

"On it," Kai agreed gruffly, turning and following Mint, almost laughing out loud at the sound of annoyed car horns and shouts. This was definitely more fun than his last visit to a city, which honestly, had had a pretty miserable conclusion.

Luna looked at Fury worriedly then padded after Mint and the rest. "Are you sure that Fury is ok by himself? I could stay if he gets hurt then take him to the house?" She said worriedly, looking back at Fury then back to Mint.

"You can come with me if he doesn't get here by sundown." The Pansage found what he was looking for and motioned for them to go inside. The house wasn't too bad of a living space, with wooden beams crisscrossing the roof and some furniture standing around.

Luna looked at the house then looked at Mint. "I'll go find some food for us to eat while you guys check the place out. Sound good?" She asked Mint with a slight motion of her head to the nearest restaurant.

"Don't be caught." He warned Luna and pushed the other two inside before any trainers could see them. To relieve some of his stress, he jumped to grab a rafter and began swinging around as if he was jumping between vines back in the forest.

Meanwhile, Fury had fainted two trainer's pokemon and was working on a third. The held-up sounds of traffic filled his ears, but did not distract him from his goal. The Cacturne that fought him dodged his first flamethrower but didn't get out of the way in time for his second. The trainer cursed at Fury and moved toward him, but the fire type ran down a side street to avoid her wrath.

Kai explored each room, looking for any signs of life. The place was empty at least, but it was furnished, and that concerned him a little. He went into the kitchen and jumped up onto the marble counter, looking through cabinets and drawers. Most of the food and supplies were non-perishable, so it was difficult to say how often the place was populated. When he took a step away from investigating the surface of the stove, he accidentally knocked a ceramic plate from the counter, shattering it on the floor. Crap, that was loud, he thought in irritation.

Luna went into the restaurant stealthily. She looked around at the customers but when she saw one was looking at her she hesitantly took a step toward him. One of the humans that was sitting with looked at him then Luna. She took a step back then a little girl looked at and with a giant smile she ran over to her. She yelped then tried to pull away from her but the little girl kept a firm grip. "Hey, you know you shouldn't do that" one of them said as Luna kept on trying to get out of the little girl's grip.

Rage was surprised for all the city stuff, but he just kept close to the group, following them. He was astonished, and he couldn't say anything at all in that moment. He entered the house and stayed in the entrance for a moment. Wow... Those humans really know how to live pretty well. He started to think, but his thoughts were interrupted by a loud noise. "What... What was that?" He said as he inspected the hall. Some seconds after that, Rage remembered where and why he was there. He completely forgot during his trip. Rage went to the kitchen and saw the shattered ceramic plate on the floor. "Oh... Don't worry Kai. Accidents just... Happen... Sometimes. We have to make sure of not drawing more attention from now on. After all... The house is abandoned, isn't it?"

Mint fell down to go examine the shattered item. "This could cut our paws." He said after inspecting it for a second. He dropped a shard and swept the pile to the side using his tail. "At least, everyone's paws except yours, Rage."

Fury came in, panting from his dashing around town. He had lost his pursuers, then subsequently sprinted around some more before finding the group. "Where's the Eevee?"

"Well... Advantages of being a Rock Type, I suppose... Yet still, we have our disadvantages... Our falls are harder" Rage continued saying. Then, he noticed that Fury entered the house. "Luna... Well... I was a little... In my world, but I think that she had gone out for some food. I guess she could have searched in the kitchen first..." Rage said, looking to the open drawers and supplies that were there.

Luna pulled against the little girl's grip one more time then finally got free and ran out of the restaurant, but before she did she grabbed a plate of food. She ran in and put the plate of food down, panting from all the work. "Sorry guys, I only got this much because of some humans" she said as she closed the door and walked into the kitchen with the plate of food.

"Luna! Good to see you around here again. Don't worry about the food, it's OK. There were some supplies in the kitchen. Knowing that you are alright is the most important thing right now." Said Rage with a huge smile. "But I propose that if we have to go out for... Reasons... We should go in pair. Just in case something happens, what do you think about that?"

"Sorry," Kai called down, hopping back to the floor while being wary of any shards. Their companions had gotten back by now, and he nodded in greeting. "I think it's a good idea. Do you guys think anyone might have followed you?"

Luna put the food down then smiled at Rage. "Thank you and that sounds like a great idea and I don't think any of them did but just to be sure" she said then she looked out the window, only to see the regular, everyday people walking the streets.

"Sounds like a plan. I think it'll be night soon, so we'd better start settling down." Mint smiled at Luna and handed some food out to everyone.

"There's no possible way. Left those punks in the dust." Fury remarked smugly, recalling the looks on their faces. He padded over to a corner and sat down with some food in his jaws.

Rage took some of the food that Luna brought, ate it and he started to inspect the drawers of the room, opening them. He opened one and it had some rags and blankets. "Hey. I was looking for a... I think it is said pillow, I don't know... Something I heard about that humans use to sleep more comfortable, and I found this. If someone is cold, just grab one from here" Rage said, picking one, hoping to use it as a pillow. After some time sleeping in a cage, his neck started to ache when he slept, not used to sleeping without nothing that could hold his head up. Then, he opened the door of a drawer and entered into it. I was used to sleeping in dark, closed caves, so I think this will do... Rage thought. "Good night to all!" Replied then, closing the door. "I'll be right here if you need me" Then, he took off his Safety Googles and closed his eyes.

"Pillows?" Fury asked excitedly. The Arcanine remembered playing with pillows when he had a trainer. He took two of them and lay down in front of the door, drifting off with memories in mind. Mint was less cheerful about Rage's discovery but admitted the usefulness of the soft items, taking one for himself and laying down on the counter.

Luna opened one eye to look at her new comrades. She smiled then closed her eye again, not bothering to get a pillow. "Who needs pillows anyway?' She thought as she drifted off to sleep.

"I'll take one," Kai said, grabbing one of the fluffy pillows with his teeth and laying it down. His ribs needed something that wasn't a hardwood floor. "Weeks of laying in a hard cage? Yes please."

He fell asleep to the imagined voice of his past trainer, and his rest was fitful and shallow. Regardless, though, it was still rest.

Luna woke up and looked around. "Morning guys" she mumbled as she stretched. "I'm going to go get more food for us, anyone want to go with me?" She asked them, hoping someone would wake up and go with her.

Kai opened eerie yellow eyes and blinked them at the Eevee. He couldn't really sleep very well anyway, and he figured that someone should at least help, if only to make sure that they stay in groups to avoid any troublesome situations. Most of whatever was left in the kitchen was either expired, or dry and tasteless, after all. "I'll go," he replied. "It's early anyway; there shouldn't be many people out yet."

"Mungh..." Mint twitched and scared himself in his sleep. He was further startled by the whispers from downstairs and almost fell in his haste to get there. "TAKE ME, NOT THEM!" He screamed at what he thought was a mob of dark types. The Pansage shuddered when he recognized Kai and Luna, and tried desperately to pretend like his outburst hadn't just happened.

Rage woke up. He had slept quite well, so much that he didn't notice all the things that the others were doing at that moment. At least, that night he slept much better than in the cage. He opened the drawer, took his Safety Glasses and went out of it. He yawned and went to a near window. He wanted to make sure that everything was OK. But then, he heard a shout that finally made him be really conscious about how he got there with the others. He approached the rest and talk: "Is everything OK?"

Luna smiled thankfully at Kai but was very startled by Mint's outburst then she smiled. "Thank you Mint, I'm glad you would sacrifice yourself for us but we were about to go get more food for everyone," she explained with a smile. "Do you want to come with us?" She asked Mint, her smile still on her face.

"Yes, I'm fine now." Mint panted, his heartbeat beginning to slow back to normal. "Sure, I'll go with you!" He grinned back at Luna with some effort then turned to Rage with a more serious expression. "Keep an eye on Fury for me, okay?" Mint saluted the Larvitar before flinching, surprised by passing footsteps.

Luna heard the footsteps and growled. "Alright we can go now," she said and slowly and cautiously she walked out of the house. She looked around then whispered, "it's clear, you can come out."

"Don't worry." Rage said with a huge smile on his face. "I'll do it". But first, Rage decided to go to the kitchen. He inspected all the cans that were there and took the one that got the best smell. He opened it and ate it. The Larvitar didn't like it too much: he took the first nibble of it, and he thought that it was tasteless. Anyways, it looked still edible, so he finished it. Then, he went to Fury, sitting in front of him. Rage waited there.

Mint stepped outside, all his senses on high alert. "Where do we go from here?" He asked while waiting for Kai to come outside as well. His eyes darted around warily while he tried to loosen up in preparation for the familiar task.

Luna looked around then saw some food stands. "Looks like we either beg for food or steal some food from the food stands," she said with a sigh afterwards.
