Yeah, agreed. The question is to when? I was thinking halloween but it could be a little early for that
I think the island was 1/4 beach, 1/4 rocky mountain area, and 1/2 forest. I could be getting it backwards but I think it was those three

@FlapJackSugaStak June is currently in the forest, so it would be funny if she saw Vars and attempted to catch her. Just to show why shiny Pokémon don’t walk alone. Should we do a little mini sequence like that?
Alright, that should work for the pokemon I plan to have Hokori catch. Now just to choose between the one on the beach or the one in rocky mountain area lol
Where would a Togetic appear on the Island?

Now that the speech is over, I'm tempted to have Thomas go back into the woods to see if he can find a lake for his Gyarados to swim in if not the beach and maybe find and catch a Dreepy.
Also thinking, with all the people having shinies, it would make sense if there was a "Shiny Club."

That would make sense, especially with James, he also has a Shiny Kingdra, on top of the Steelix that Thomas has met.

@DopeLeafeon470 I think a months time would be good. Just to see how far everyone has come and how weve settled into classrooms. This can also be when Hanzo begins tryouts for the battle tournament team that can take place over Thanksgiving break where we have a huge tournament against Groudon Canyon Academy.
(Not connected to my plot idea I just still think the two schools rivalry would be cool and that in a pokemon school there would be like a sports team that battles against other schools best trainers.)
and it could become like a sports festival type arc after this timeskip where over the fall break the schools hold a bunch of different events
(Things that come to mind: Monday Pokeathalon, Tuesday Contest, Wednesday each school puts on a pokemon musical, Friday is the day of the battle tournament)

Would this mean we'll have to make up student characters for Groudon Canyon? If that's the case, maybe I could add a minor(ish) character who Thomas used to know? One of those who used to make fun of him back when his Gyarados was only a Magikarp?

I feel like for Dom's rival it would be revisiting the idea of Dragon Busters (Like from the gen 5 anime) with the addition of fairy types.
Maybe said Rival meets and beats Emma in Festival.

My plan for him is that im going to delve more into Dom's initial reluctance to join the academy. His dad (when he was younger) used to battle a lot and was well on his way to 100 consecutive wins until he was brutally defeated by a Dragon Buster who ends up being Ron's Dad who actually witnessed the battle when it happened and recognizes Dom's dads fighting spirit in him. The reason Dom was a bit reluctant is that after the incident with Lycanroc he became somewhat insecure about his true strength but the village elder tells him that she thinks he should go to the academy anyway. When Dom realizes who he is he becomes extra determined to defeat him and I want this to be the first battle where Dom successfully uses Splintered Stormshards

Well there are classes, but they're optional so most people would be heading elsewhere
Also I made a card for Jack, his party is only up to what I had planned because it's more fun for me that way

He can, but not in a battle.
Magnezone would mess up this team, Pelipper is 4x weak to Electric, the rest are weak to Steel.

Is she going for Steel types? I think her and Jason can talk about Steel types, seeing that he has a Metagross and a Empoleon.
What about pokemon caught within the timeskip? Like do we just say, oh and during the timeskip I caught a pikachu or whatever, or should we hold off on catching until after, I'm fine with either or, or if someone else has an idea. I had an idea for Dom of catching a pokemon in the forest and then later down the line, getting one from the professor of the health class as sort of a final semester exam to train and nurse back to health, but I'm fine with doing it after the skip.
It depends on how important you want the encounter to be for that character. If you think it's worth showing then maybe do it after the skip or maybe have a flashback sequence to during the skip
Also here's the Jack rival, not all of his Pokémon are amazing but he specializes in big and tanky Pokémon save for the Gallade

I was thinking that for the first day’s battling class, the students would be given some sort of diagnostic test (most likely a short battle) and split into classes based on skill level.

To explain my post a little bit, I've always had the idea of a small, adorable Whimsicott being a vampiric demon with moves like Giga Drain and Leech Seed, and to follow up on that, I think it'd be really funny if this specific Whimsicott knew Perish Song if that's fine with everybody and I won't use Whimsicott in PvP battles, just Player vs NPC battles.
