LF help: Pokefanfic character(s)

So, as the title suggests, I need help making a character for a wip fanfic.
The main character is a riolu and she's travelling around her region
On the way she meets another lone pokemon
They make friends

What should the other Pokemon be? I don't mind what it is as long as it's not a Legend, Mythical, pre-evolved or has no evo at all.
Then I have to think of their name and gender
