Hi, dudes! I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this, but I thought I'd set up a personalized ad page for the prefixes "Ask to Join" and "Private/Closed." The Pokemon Roleplay thread's got about 20 active games going (new posts within 24 hours), 30 on life support, and 1500 that are decisively dead, most before getting past the first page. All were hoping to get in a good, long story, I'm sure.
First thing you should know about me: I don't intend to join an RPG that dies before completion. That means the game's gotta show promise. In other words, NOT the following:
[Insert-Region-Here] Pokemon Journey
Rules: 1. No profanity
2. No godmodding
3. Have to post at least three sentences per post
4. Have fun
[Insert-trainer-here] skipped down the road to [insert-professor-here]'s lab. "Oh boy, time to start my pokemon journey for some reason! I sure hope I get [insert-starter-here]!"

I'm not a roleplay snob, but I've seen it literally a thousand and a half times before, and I hate having to keep restarting over and over because everyone got bored with an ineffective formula. That's no fun. Most people who make a "have fun" rule are still developing their creative muscles, hoping it will just work out like "A Journey In Alola" did. But it turns out you need vision:
-a setting in which a pokemon journey serves a greater purpose,
-characters with less focus on personal appearance, and more on interactivity with others,
-conflicts beyond gym leaders and evil teams, in which villains are consequential to the plot,
-themes we care about that relate to our lives (good and evil, growing up, life and death, etc.)
I want to be part of a story with a beautiful vision. In return, I'll be one of your greatest assets. I'll make a habit of posting every 24 hours (with an occasional exception). My characters will take interest in yours, and I'll permit you to use them as you see fit. Struggles against npcs and real characters will fare alike: with no certainty of the outcome ahead of time. And if interest in the game dips before we're ready to let it go, I'll work with you in the discussion thread to come up with ideas. I'm pretty cheerful by nature, but I've also got high standards, and I want to see us succeed.
So, uh . . . if you're more ambitious than most people, and you'd like to have me aboard your project, please let me know. Thanks for your consideration. Cheers,
-PFN
