Rules:

As you may have guessed, this is an RP taking place in a fan made region. Fakémon are encouraged, as long as they are listed in the Mithos Region Pokédex. In order to get started you must fill out a Trainer Card (i.e. character sheet). Please include all relevant information. Be sure to include your character’s hometown (must be somewhere in Mithos). This important especially since your character’s starter Pokémon will be determined by their hometown. Under “Occupation” you may put “Trainer” unless you wish to play as a Gym Leader, Villain Grunt, Researcher, Pokémon Professor, etc.

You can have up to six Pokémon. Each Pokémon can know up to eight moves. Please limit the use of TMs and Egg Moves and try to keep it reasonable. I doubt there are many trainers that carry endless wads of cash.

Your character may possess any Pokémon from the current National Dex except for the following:
  • Gen 1-9 Starters (excluding Pikachu and Eevee)*
  • Ultra Beasts
  • Paradox Pokémon
  • Legendary Pokémon
  • Mythical Pokémon
  • Gimmicks (ie. Mega Evolution, Dynamax, Gigantamax, Z Moves, Terrestrialization)**

*The Gen 1-9 Starters may become available during a special RP event.
**I’m going to exclude this for now. I want to run this region as if it were its own thing, so I may introduce a new “gimmick” later on.

Other than that, basic RP entiquitte applies. Be kind to each other. If you create multiple characters, be sure you keep track of them. I personally don’t recommend more than three major characters per person. Minor characters and NPCs do not require a Trainer Card. If your character runs into a family member, rival, or villain team grunt as a “pop-up” or inciting incident do not fill out a Trainer Card form. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to discuss them here.

Now! Onto the nitty gritty stuff.

Choosing a Starter

To keep things interesting, I'm going to keep this region as close to the game format as possible (i.e. new region, new starter Pokémon). This way everyone can truly immerse themselves in the RP. As I mentioned before, the hometown you selected for your character will affect your choice of starter.

~The Lore~

Mithos was not always the unified region you see today. In ancient times, each of its modern cities had its own form of government, not unlike ancient Greece. As a result, the people of Mithos value their independence more than their nationality. Each city offers its own unique set of starter Pokémon. For the purpose of this role play, you will have three hometowns to choose from: Chaplet Town, Coronet City, and Crest Island. These locations are home to the Grass, Fire, and Water type Gyms respectively.

~The Starters~

If you chose Chaplet Town, you have the following options:

Chickapea "the Grass Chick Pokémon", Sizzly "the Flame Bear Pokémon", or Puggle "the Platypus Pokémon".

If you chose Coronet City, you have the following options:

Wulfleur "the Grass Wolf Pokémon", Matchling "the Fire Turtle Starter", or Dripurr "the Water Kitten Pokémon".

Finally, if you chose Crest Island, you have the following starter options:

Aloegar "the Grass Crocodile Pokémon", Wigwarm "the Flaming Tadpole Pokémon", or Dribbon "the Water Monkey Pokémon".

~About the Starters~

Chickapea is a green and purple chick Pokémon with bright orange feet. Its wings resemble the halves of a peapod. The feather on top of its head resembles a sage leaf and its tail resembles a maple seed only with two eye spots, one on each side. This starter is energetic and cheerful. It enjoys hoping and twirling around. It evolves into a Grass-Psychic-type Peacock Fakémon.

Sizzly is a red-orange bear cub with a black patch on its belly resembling a flame. Its ears and tail are black-tipped. These catch fire when Sizzly is angry or annoyed. This starter is generally quiet and cuddly, though it does enjoy wrestling with its trainers. It appears to have an unusual fear of the dark, and will often try to climb into its trainers bed at night. Sizzly evolved into a Fire-Dark-type Bear Fakémon.

Puggle is a round baby platypus-like creature with livid fur and blue eyes. It has a leathery beak and tail, plus webbed feet tipped with black claws. Puggle is generally timid and shy around people, but shows great confidence and focus in battle. Its baby fat prevents it from being easily hurt. It evolves into a Water-Ground-type Surfer Platypus Fakémon.

Wulfleur is a green and white husky puppy known for bringing fish, shells, and other sea treasures to people it likes. It is incredibly loyal to it's trainer and will go to great lengths to protect them, even from imaginary dangers such as noisy alarm clocks and "growling" rolls of toilet paper. Trainers who pick Wulfleur should note that this Pokémon has a lot of energy and needs plenty of exercise. It evolves into a Grass-Fairy-type Wolf.

Matchling is a mischievous baby turtle with a brick colored shell. It crawls on all fours, making it slower than most fire type starters. It's carefree attitude and optimistic spirit are perfect for perky trainers and people who need a little light in their lives. It evolves into a Fire-Steel-type Armored Terrapin.

Dripurr is a shaggy blue kitten with white stripes, white paws, and a white chin and underbelly. This starter is independent and bold. It enjoys hunting, long naps, and fishing. Drippur evolves into a Water-Flying-type Tiger Fakémon.

Aloeghar is a baby quadrupedal green alligator with a collar around its neck that resembles the aloe vera plant. It can be picky and temperamental, but makes an excellent sparring partner. It enjoys sunbathing on the beach and evolves into a Grass-Ground-type Crocodile Fakémon.

Wigwarm resembles a poison dart frog with a tadpole's tail. It has shiny black eyes and red skin with dark-purple markings. Its tongue is bright orange. This starter enjoys singing and hoping to the rhythm of music. It evolves into an enormous Fire-Poison-type Toad.

Dribbon is a baby baboon with blue fur. It has a pale face and white hands and feet. The fur on the top of its head is darker than the rest of its body. This starter is playful, slightly mischievous, and full of energy. It loves to play, so much so that it will use bubbles as volleyballs or basketballs.

My time hath come...
I'm glad the creators approve!
I don't even need to wait for you to finish: Here's my sheet!

Name:
Aceso Moustakas
Age: 15
Hometown: Crest Island
Gender/Pronouns: Female (She, Her, They, Them)
Appearance: With a slim build and short hair, Aceso is the description of a swimmer. She is 5'4 and black haired, with eyes as deep a blue as the sea. She often wears a swimsuit under fancy yet comfortable clothing, ready eternally for a good dunk.
Bio (optional): Aceso is strong, and yet acts like a princess. Her pretty face and proud bearing makes her popular in the area of Crest Island, yet that is not where she originally came from. She is actually from a rather large region quite close to Unova...
She will almost always act like a true Princess, rarely insulting people or making jokes. She is kind and truly enjoys the company of Pokemon, rather than just using them as battle machines. She is also athletic, but only in the area of swimming. However, Aceso takes everything seriously, and she is often oblivious and innocent. She is too trusting on the good nature of people.
Pokémon Starter: Aloeghar
Other: (Her last name means 'A person with a mustache', and is Greek despite the fact that she's not from Mithos...? Strange...)

    • Chickpea: A green and purple chick Pokémon with bright orange feet. Its wings resemble the halves of a peapod. The feather on top of its head resembles a sage leaf and its tail resembles a maple seed only with two eye spots, one on each side. This starter is energetic and cheerful. It enjoys hoping and twirling around. This is the Grass-type starter of Chaplet Town.

    • Peafoul: A bird with grey and brown plumage, a blue neck, and purple green-tipped feathers on the top of its head that come down over its eyes. It is sometimes called "the Emo Pokémon" due to its moody teenager-like phase.

      • Moves: Capable of learning Normal, Grass, Flying, and Pyschic-type moves. Sp. Atk recommended.
    • Peercock: a.k.a "the Vainglory Pokémon”. Its indigo head, neck, and body and white patches around its eyes are nothing compared to the enormous tail that spreads out like a paper fan. The tail is green and covered with purple, blue, and orange markings that many say depict symbols of the Illuminati. The feathers on top of this Pokémon's head are dialed back into familiar peacock-like tuffs. When its tail fan is open, this Pokémon is said to give off a distinctive rainbow-colored aura. Why is the merciless debt collector Tom Nook a Pokemon now??
On a side note, I really feel for you because not only because you have to reveal all the Fakemon your going to use, but you also have to decide which already existing Pokemon you want to carry over, unless you've already done that, since I know you put a lot of thought into this.

Can't wait to start. First time I've really role played for a while, can't wait to show off my polished skills compared to the mess I had 3 or four years ago. I forget how many.

I'm not going to lie, I have no clue who that is. XD I assume you are referring to Tyccoon. I kinda thought it went with the theme, so I ran with it.

I'm going to wait for at least two other people to join before I get this up and running. In the meantime, keep a lookout for the finished Fakédex. I'm hoping to finish it today.

I myself am holding out to see which preexisting Pokemon return before I decide. But Aloeghar will be there, as well as Samamba and Aveon eventually.
Pretty much any preexisting Pokémon that resembles anything that can be found in ancient and modern Greece will be returning. If you have a favorite Pokémon you want to include, let me know. Chances are, I will approve it. I can even tell you where you can encounter it in the wild.

A Note on Fossil Pokémon

In the spirit of Greece, there will be no dinosaur fossils available in the Mithos Region. This is because the climate during the mesozoic era did not allow their remains to be preserved. However, you will find mammal fossils in the region that will allow you to revive the following Pokémon:

  1. Nubwoo→Woollino (Ice-Ground Type) “The Woolly Rhinocerous Pokémon”
    1. Nubwoo: A baby fur covered rhinoceros with a small horn apparently made of ice. This Pokémon was surprisingly graceful for its size. Its padded feet give enabled it to run on ice. It is believed a warming climate brought this Pokémon to extinction. It is revived from a Horn Fossil.
    2. Woollino: A giant wolly rhinoceros with a horn so massive it can bust through glaciers. Some believe this Pokémon still survives at the Himalayan Mountains. Its assumed extinction was probably due to climate change and competition with Mamoswine. It is capable of learning Ice, Ground, Rock, and Normal-type moves.
  2. Ezekielk (Rock-Ice Type) “The Irish Elk Pokémon”
    1. A gigantic cervid with enormous moose-like antlers. It thrived in cold plain-like environments where there were few trees. Some say it could split the earth with its will. The cause of its extinction remains unknown. It is revived from an Old Antler. It is capable of learning Rock, Ice, Ground, and Normal-type moves.
  3. Antiquine (Normal-Rock Type) “The Horse Ancestor Pokémon”
    1. About the size of a Ponyta, this Pokémon with rust colored fur with white spots, white muzzle, and white underbelly is thought to be the ancestor of all horse Pokémon. It has a short black mane and donkey-like tail. Unlike a horse, however, Antiquine has cloven hooves similar to a goat. It is revived from a Hoof Fossil. It is capable of learning Normal, Rock, Ground, and Fire-type moves.

For those of you Dinosaur Pokémon lovers: Fear not! You will be able to find all preexisting fossil Pokémon, save for the Galar fossil fusions, in the DLC Location: The Gypsum Archipelago. The Gypsum Archipelago also presents you with the opportunity to find four new Pokémon fossils:
  1. Maestrodon (Rock-Psychic Type) “The Troodon Pokémon”
    1. This Pokémon isn't very strong, but makes up for it with it's amazing intellect. It uses it's psychic capabilities to mess with it's opponents' heads, confusing or making them panic. It is theorized that an ancient flood caused this Pokémon’s extinction.
    2. This Pokémon is capable of learning Rock, Psychic, Fire, and Normal-type moves.
  2. Roarzor (Rock-Steel Type) “The Therizinosaurus Pokémon”
    1. This Pokémon is tall and has very sharp, long claws; longer than even Sneasler's claws. Its bulky body makes this Pokemon a powerhouse at the cost of greatly reducing its foot speed. Despite its fierce appearance, scientists believe this Pokémon was a vegetarian. It is capable of learning Rock, Ground, Steel, Dark, Fighting, and Normal-type moves.
  3. PlankyloStegospike (Rock-Fighting Type) “The Plate Armor Pokémon”
    1. Plankylo: This Pokémon was built for defense, from the armor on its back to the club tail with four small spikes. It is incredibly slow but makes up for it by being virtually indestructible.
    2. Stegospike: This Pokémon was built for defense. Two large spikes stick out from its hips, two smaller spikes stick out from the side of its head, and its club tail has transformed into a menacing mace. This Pokémon shook the earth with its footsteps. Its main weakness is its soft underbelly. It is capable of learning Rock, Ground, Fighting, and Normal-type moves.
  4. ParashootParaseng (Rock-Grass Type) “The Hadrosaur Pokémon”
    1. Parashoot: A green hadrosaur Pokémon with a slightly curved crest. This Pokémon had a melodious voice that could be heard from kilometers away.
    2. Paraseng: This Pokémon’s music was thought to give it control over plants. Its large crest on top of its head functions as a resonating chamber. While Paraseng walked on all fours, it is thought to have run on two legs. What it lacks in defense it makes up for in speed and creativity. It is capable of learning Rock, Grass, Fairy, Ground, and Normal-type moves.

Note: Because this is a DLC Location and a group of islands, you will not be able to obtain these fossils unless you or the person you trade with has one fully evolved Flying-type or Water-type transport Pokémon.

I was thinking Honedge, which makes sense for her character.
Orchidylian, Aegislash, Aveon, Hissboomba, Gorgeon*, and Houndoom will be her final team.
*Or whichever evolution is the water type version of the Gorgon
And I have my reasons for each one.
Orchidylian because she actually sunburns pretty easily,
Aegislash because it detects the innate qualities of leadership and represents a royal guard of sorts
Aveon because of it's cuteness and grace
Hissboomba because dancing is also grace...?
Gorgeon because Beauty, shyness, yada yada
and Houndoom because it's a dog, no team is complete without a cute pupper.

Ooo! Like the theme. Delusa is the Water equivalent of Gorgeon by the way. Gorgeon is Rock/Dragon-type.

You know, it'd be interesting if the honedge line resembled Greek or Egyptian weaponry. You could say the fully evolved Aegislash looks like the sword and shield that Perseus used to slay Medusa. Just saying.
Oh no, he's right-
If there was one thing this was all missing it is regional variants!
So you guys are going to make me do more work, huh? @.@:D
Okay, challenge excepted. But if you all want regional variants, you are going to help.

Mithosican (Or Mithoslogical) Meowth and Purrcival (Fairy)
Meowth
(Fairy)
appearance: A pink, fluffy Meowth with elaborate curls, walking upon four legs. The curls go down like a cloak over it's figure. The coin on their head is thick and has man-like sketches on it.
Held in high esteem for many years, these Pokemon are even more pampered and self righteous than their Alolan cousins. Enjoy comfort over all other of life's necessities.
Purrcival (Fairy)
appearance: A large, pink creature with elaborate curls only upon it's head, the rest of it's body being covered in curls that resemble armor and cloak. It stand upright in battle but is on all four's the remainder of the time, and the coin once upon their brow has moved to the center of their chest.
This Pokemon has a strong sense of valor, often interrupting even it's sleep to defend the meek and poor from villains. Often train wild Pokemon to help them.

Forget Hissboomba, I want this thing!

Team Gnosis

One of the villain teams you may encounter in the Mithos Region. This team is lead by Director Athena Polias, business woman, scholar, and polymath who seeks the Lost Scroll that supposedly reveals the location of the Sunken City. She believes the common person has no respect for ancient history and valuable artifacts. Convenient, since she organized relocation projects and halted construction in order to get her hands on ancient artifacts. Her Pokémon Team includes Aegislash, Noctowl, Arboliva, Ariados, and Delusa.

Team Dynamis

One of the villain teams you may encounter in the Mithos Region. This group is led by Athena's older brother, Ares. Unlike Athena, his only concern is looking after his best interest. His "team" is less of an organized unit and more of a protest mob consisting mostly of workers, teenagers, and young adults who lost their jobs and or their homes so that archeologists could excavate ancient artifacts. He claims to support the "here and now" over the buried past, but really he enjoys profiting off other people's misery and making life difficult for his sister. His Pokémon include Mandibuzz, Boarbarian, Houndoom, Mightyena, and Rapidash.

I like it, but do you mind a couple of suggestions?

1) Mithosican or Mithoslogical could work, but I think Mithosian is less stuffy.
2) The past two Persian variants had only one type, so to be loyal to the canon it might be a good idea to choose between either Fairy or Fighting-type.

Other than that, I think the concept is perfect.

Oh, fine. If it's to be loyal to the canon.
Fairy works just fine, then, as it's typing.

      • Pokédex Entry: According to legend, this regional variant was born from the foam of the sea. It thrives in aquatic environments.
    • Mithosian Rapidash: Similar to the creature above, except with the horn of a narwhal and a longer flowing mane. Partially inspired by the kelpie of Scottish lore.
      • Pokédex Entry: Some accounts describe Rapidash growing back legs so that it can run on land. Trainers are advised to wear a snorkel or an oxygen mask when riding this Pokémon, as it often forgets that some creatures cannot breathe underwater.
  • Mithosian Dragonite (Dragon-Psychic Type)
    • A long, Purple, Dragonair-like creature that curls around a gold colored staff that is made of energy. At the tip of this intricate staff is an orb. The Dragonair-like creature has two wings sprouting from it's head, similar to Hermes's helmet. It is twice as long as Dragonair and completely encircles the Staff multiple times. It's tail end's in a cloud-like puff.

  • Mithosian Deino-->Mithosian Zweilous-->Mithosian Hydreigon (Poison-Dragon Type)

    • Zweilous: It is purple and black with red treads. Its body is more serpentine in structure. The back legs are non-existent.
    • Hydreigon: This Pokémon has three real heads, each with visible fangs dripping with venom. Its hands have turned into dummy heads. A Mithosian Hydreigon is said to guard The Tree of Beginning where the most delicious Fancy Apples grow. It is unknown whether this is the same Hydreigon that Akatara faced during his 12 Great Deeds.
  • Stingtyke-->Stingtine (Electric-Flying-type) "The Stingray Pokémon"
    • Stingtyke: Similar to Tentacool v. Toedscool, Stingtyke and Mantyke look very similar except Stingtyke is dark-blue and yellow and more shaped like a stingray. It has a lightning bolt tail.
    • Stingtine: While similar in appearance to Mantine, Stingtine is actually it own Pokémon. It has a lightning bolt tail, a light underside and a dark blue top with yellow spot markings on its fines and yellow tipped antennae. Its eyes are red and surrounded by black circles in contrast to Mantine's white and black eyes.

Mithosian Ponyta and Rapidash (Water type)
Appearance: same body plan as the originals, in place of flames are fishlike fins, the tail resembling a Vaporeon's.
Inspiration: the Hippocampus, aka Water Horse
As far as the Honedge line... What if it was Fairy/Steel or Ghost/Ground?

@Draco Nightshade

What type should Mithosian Aegislash be? I personally think Steel/Ghost is neat but there cannot be a variant without a type change. Steel/Dark maybe? What is befitting of the bronze Aegis and sword used to slay Medusa?
Putting my two cents in because I'm gonna be using it- Steel/Electric also works because Perseus got his sword from Zeus the God of Thunder, and is what I'm rooting for, but Steel/Fighting could also work (Less original though)
...WAIT IDEA FORMING: Dragonite that looks like Dragonair and is based off the Staff Asclepius/Hermes wields.

I was thinking about how the Pokemon more closely resembling Medusa is a Rock/Dragon type. You could say that the Honedge line in this region were supposedly forged by the gods in ancient times with the Fairy type representing the gods' power.

The Pokémon League v. The Labors Challenge

The Mithos League operates a bit different from other Pokémon Leagues. Here at Mithos, each Gym Leader is required to best all other Gym Leaders in order to qualify for their job. As such, Mithos has no "champion", as every Gym Leader was a champion at some time or another. When a Gym Leader retires, their replacement must beat them in a Pokémon Battle using Pokémon of the same type. Trainers who wish to challenge the League can challenge the gyms in any order. However, the final four Gym Leaders must be battled at Kraun City Stadium, along with all the other trainers who beat the league that year.

The Labors Challenge is a competition unique to Mithos. Anyone with four or more gym badges can compete. This competition was modeled after the legendary trainer Akatara who was supposedly the first Pokémon trainer in the Mithos Region as the first person to visit all of the ancient cities. Each stage of the competition is modeled after one of his twelve ancient deeds.
  1. Wrestle Pyroar
  2. Defeat Hydreigon
  3. Capture Stalhart
  4. Challenge Boarbarian
  5. Tend a Heliox herd
  6. Catch 20 Fearow
  7. Challenge Manataur
  8. Ride Pegagust
  9. Obtain Daenite’s Sash
  10. "Capture" a new Eeveelution
  11. Gather 10 Fancy Apples from The Tree of Beginning (The oldest tree in the region, guarded by serpentine and draconic Pokémon)
  12. Challenge Cerberoar

Competing these challenges and defeating all other competitors in a Pokémon Battle earns the trainer the title of Legend. Trainer and their Pokémon receive laurel crowns dipped in gold.

Okay yes but technically if we take it as literal, Fairies are often depicted in Greek mythology. They are technically different beings than Gods so why would Fairy be a good representation and not Electric if we're talking about godly power? Zeus is the king of Gods, after all.
If you are making it off of what could kill a rock/dragon real easy then it does make sense but as a representation of the power of God's I don't see it. And it's not like the sword was used only on Medusa, so why make it a direct counter specifically for the Pokemon, and not any of the more powerful monsters it mowed down?

...Sorry, I just really like debate.

Okay, you two. Rock-paper-scissors or find a tie breaker for Aegislash's type. In the meantime, you can read the other Regional Variant Dex entries. I finished updating the list.

That reminds me, Mithosian Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon (Poison/Dragon type) probably more serpentine body structure, back legs are non-existent, visible fangs dripping with venom, Hydreigon has three real heads with it's hands turning into dummies.

Technically, Perseus received the sword and shield from Athena but when you consider that the Electric type is not very effective against Dragon or Rock types, lore wise it just makes sense. Design wise, I'd have to go with a Spartan sword and shield with the shield looking more like a mirror.

Okay, okay, you win. I've thought about it and it makes sense now.
...How many of these regional variants do we need? Alola had 18, Galar had 19 (Thirteen in original, 19 after DLC), and Paldea had 3.

Honestly I just keep coming up with different idea's in the moment but we should probably put a cap on how many we're going to actually consider canon.
