Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
So her first arc will be done within the first week or month? That’s also a good way to slide in some interactions with other characters too now that I think about it.
Not her arc, just traveling around to get an introduction to all the types of trainers out there. She's from Oblivia, so trainers don't exist. She wants to see all the types of trainers in action before deciding to pick one. Esther's first arc will take a while.
This feels interesting, I might see about making a character for this, although idk if I should go along with one of my OCs (one of which can be seen in my signature) or make an entirely new one.
Also, if I do join, I can't promise how often I'll post due to how busy I get.
Since you've got a lot of flexibility I recommend moving between regions. Whenever I have a more focus arc like—explore these here ruins—I'll also be giving you guys a heads-up in case you want to join. I got quite a few things approved by Stell and never got to use them. I intend to have some fun and anyone who wants to come along for the ride is welcome. I could even actually use the entire mechanized labyrinth I made for Geminos before no one went in it smh.

A psychic trainer could be interesting. If you're going to be in and out that's fine, but you should coordinator with whoever you're traveling with. Have your characters part ways for a bit until you can be more active.
Once I make my character, should I add in additional Pokemon that he may switch to? I remember your first post saying something about adding additional Pokemon to the roster, so I assumed that was a possibility.
Even if it is, I imagine that's more of an endgame thing rather than something one can do right off the bat.

You're allowed to write your character wherever they are in their journey, so long as you provide the appropriate backstory to justify it all. So you can write whatever Pokemon he owns, including additional, if you feel the need to do so and want him to be that far along. You should take a look at the World Coronation Rankings and then give him a rank if you plan to make him an experienced trainer.
Name: Brian Killian Gender: Male Hometown: Opelucid City, Unova Age: 23 Trainer Class: Psychic Type Specialist Trainer Rank: Great Class - 267 Physical Appearance: Standing at 5'11" with skin between Pale and Fair, Hot pink eyes and smooth Dull dark blue hair that goes down to his chin. His facial features have gotten him called handsome a few times and his physical build shows no sign of fat or muscle, yet decently slim thanks to a lot of travelling. Clothing: His attire consists of a Black t shirt underneath a Fuchsia knee long closed trench coat with a White scarf, Dark brown pants, Black boots and a Fuchsia trilby hat.
Personality: Brian is a kind and friendly individual who tries to behave like a gentleman, especially toward women. He has a good sense of humor and rarely gets angry... although when he does, he can be very cruel and terrifying. He also cares deeply for his Pokemon as if they were his own children and would do anything to protect them. He also chose to train with only Psychic types like his father who was a gifted fortune teller and through this, has a strong belief in destiny. Backstory: Born in Unova between a Female Pokemon Veteran and a gifted Fortune Teller with great Psychic abilities to see the future that his family had for generations. Brian unfortunately didn't posses his father's gift, but he and his mother raised him well nonetheless. As Brian's childhood went by, they began to realize that he was a lot more like his mother; Someone who loved Pokemon and battling with them considering how often Brian battled with his mother's beloved Arcanine. One day he was gifted a Pokemon egg which soon hatched into the Ralts that became his first partner Pokemon. His father ended up having a vision that involved Brian "Reaching a new height as a Pokemon trainer", so Brian decided to travel the world and train to live up to his father's prediction.
Gender: Male Ability: Steadfast Special Features: Purple neckerchief scarf around his neck. History: Since Brian learned he didn't inherit his father's future seeing abilities, his positive demeanor showed signs of diminishing, so his mother took measures into her own hands and showed Brian the thrills of Pokemon battling. Brian was fascinated by this and his positive attitude was reignited once more. By his eighth birthday Brian was gifted a Pokemon egg that hatched into Brian's first ever Pokemon: Ralts, who immediately took a liking to Brian and vice versa, already becoming inseparable. As he evolved, his bond with Brian grew until the two saw each other as brothers, because of this, Brian has picked up a habit of sometimes calling his Gallade "Brother."
Gallade shares a similar personality to Brian and undoubtedly loyal to him, caring deeply for his trainer and enjoys it when he calls him "Brother." He tends to try and help others whenever they need it, shows a somewhat playful side toward the younger Pokemon and embarrassment when around female Pokemon due to his popularity with them.
Gender: Female Ability: Competitive History: Gothitelle was a wild Pokemon in Unova who fell head over heels in love with Brian's Gallade (Ralts) at first sight. Ever since then, she tried to do what she could to be 'worthy' to join Brian's team... only to be surprised when she was able to join easily. As time went on and after she evolved, she eventually confessed to Gallade and began a promising relationship, all while helping Brian with his future.
She has a caring side like one wouldn't believe, especially toward Gallade, she gets jealous very easily if a female Pokemon interacts with him and is considered a mother figure to some of Brian's Pokemon. She is best friends with Hatterene and knew about Hatterene's feelings towards Gallade, but went easy on her due to their friendship.
Gender: N/A Ability: Clear Body Special Features: Shiny History: Metagross was found in a cave by Brian ever since they were a Metang in Hoenn, Brian tried several times to bond with the Metang in the hope that he would catch it, only to learn that Metang would only join him after they saw how he was in battle. The battle was a difficult one which ended in a tie, the Metang was convinced and joined Brian's team. He became even more loyal to Brian after evolving into a powerful Metagross, becoming Brian's second strongest Pokemon. (And mode of transportation during emergencies)
Has a strong sense of loyalty and honor when it comes to battling; one of the reasons why he joined Brian... Although he does share Brian's mercilessness when it comes to dealing with bad guys.
Gender: Female Ability: Synchronize History: Brian found Espeon while it was still an Eevee. She was injured and ill after an unfortunate incident, when Brian found her, he took her to a Pokemon center as quickly as he could. After three days, she got better and started to follow Brian around, much to his slight confusion. Eventually, Brian decided to catch her and the two gained a promising bond, especially after she evolved into Espeon.
Espeon was cheerful back when she was an Eevee, remaining close to Brian's side even after evolving. Like other Espeons who display loyalty, Espeon is a Pokemon who always listens to Brian without question.
Gender: Female Ability: Magic Bounce Special Features: She can Gigantamax History: Back when she was a Hatenna enjoying life in the wild area of Galar, but when she met Brian, she was immediately drawn to his calm and positive attitude and immediately wanted to join him and his team. After she evolved, she began to gain a friendship with Gothitelle and feelings for Gallade... her best friend's lover. Gothitelle knew of this and decided to help her--with Brian's aid--get over her crush, still remaining close to Gallade and Brian.
Hatterene is a playful Pokemon who overreacts to other people's emotions, although Brian has taught her not to react as much and can be rather sadistic in battle.
Gender: Male Ability: Pastel Veil History: Back as a Ponyta, he was often bullied by a group of Impidimps and didn't have any friends until Brian came along and helped him with his bully problem, Brian caught him shortly after and the two shared a decent bond. After evolving, Rapidash gained a habit of sometimes levitating Brian on to his back and giving him rides.
Rapidash is a very friendly and loyal Pokemon who enjoys open areas to run around in. He doesn't like it when people touch his hair.
Gender: Male Ability: Keen eye History: Back when he was an Espurr, he curiously followed Brian ever since he sensed 'something' from him. Once Brian noticed the little Espurr, he was curious as to why he followed him. Brian eventually saw promise in the little guy's potential and caught him. He became a bit more lazy upon evolution though...
Sometimes a mixture between lazy or curious, he does listen to Brian to some degree, but follows his commands without question when in battle.
Gender: Male Ability: Ice Body History: During Brian's time in Galar he met a Galarian Mr Mime and was immediately fascinated by it, when he saw that Mr Mime had a bit of trouble with a Galarian Darmanitan, Brian decided to try and help the two settle their problems. Mr Mime took a liking to Brian for his kind and friendly demeanor alongside how he wanted to try settling thing peacefully, after some time, the two Ice types saw eye to eye and seemed to get along better, although Mr Mime decided he wanted to travel with Brian, much to his delight. After he joined and evolved, he became one of Brian's most helpful Pokemon, either helping out with simple chores or trying to help his fellow Psychic teammates.
Mr Rime is a kind and friendly Pokemon ever since he was a Mr Mime, slowly acting more like a gentleman with likely better manners than Brian, he cares deeply about his friends and prefers the peaceful option to dealing with problems... that said, he can be a ruthless Pokemon on the battlefield and can turn cold hearted in seconds if he is forced to resort to violence.
Gender: Female Ability: Synchronize History: During Brian's travels through Galar, his Mr Mime stumbled upon a wild Indeedee and the two became fast friends due to their shared politeness and love of helping others. Mr Mime introduced Indeedee to Brian who was definitely interested to see. When Brian caught Indeedee, she was mainly seen hanging out with Mr Mime/Rime and tended to help Brian with his tasks such as setting up camp or preparing food for his team... although when battling was brought up, Indeedee wasn't too keen on the idea, Brian understood this and decided to keep Indeedee around, but won't have her battle like she desired.
Indeedee is a very polite Pokemon who is mainly seen hanging out with Mr Rime, the two share a great friendship with one another, although there are signs that Indeedee may have feelings for the Ice type as whenever people mention the pair as a couple, she get very flustered. Unlike many of Brian's Pokemon, she doesn't enjoy battling--she doesn't mind everyone else battling but not battling herself, thus, she is mainly seen as a "Support Pokemon" to Brian, something she slowly took pride in.
Gender: Female Ability: Refrigerate History: Brian met Aurorus when she was just an Amaura on the run from some Pokemon hunters, Brian did his best to try and protect the poor Pokemon, but the hunters were too persistent, eventually managing to corner Brian and his Pokemon. Amaura couldn't bear to think of what happened if the hunters won and her desire to protect Brian as he protected her caused her to evolve, her new power helped her easily subdue the hunters who were arrested and taken away, Brian was about to say his goodbyes to Aurorus only to discover that she wanted to join him, an offer that Brian happily accepted.
Aurorus is likely Brian's biggest Pokemon and is seen as a gentle giant, very protective of her friends, especially Brian, although in battle her kindness shifts to a more ruthless demeanor.
Gender: Male Ability: Levitate History: Brian met Flygon when he was just a Vibrava under the ownership of a snobby trainer, after beating them in a battle, the trainer scolded her Vibrava for being too weak, Brian was quick to defend the poor Vibrava from her harsh trainer and went so far as to blame her for the defeat, something the trainer didn't take to very kindly. When the trainer decided it was best to release Vibrava, Brian took it upon himself to take in and look after the abandoned Pokemon, his time with Brian helped him gain a sense of friendship and trust, after a few weeks, Brian met the same trainer and asked they battle, the trainer accepted her challenge and claimed she found a Pokemon much stronger than Vibrava, a Drampa. During the battle, while Vibrava held his ground, he was no match for Drampa... until he suddenly began to evolve, turning the tables and easily defeating Drampa. The girl attempted to apologize and asked Flygon to return now that he was "strong enough for her" only to be met with sand in the face, thus officially joining Brian.
Back when Flygon was a Vibrava, he seemed to suffer from anxiety and became very timid, but under Brian's care, he began to show more signs of confidence in both himself and his friends, this confidence of his skyrocketed upon his evolution.
Gender: Female Ability: Cursed Body History: During Brian's time in Alola, he went to relax by a lake only to see a Frillish training her water attacks against a rock, Brian was impressed by this and commended the Water type, much to her embarrassment, Brian decided to go on and catch her, seeing her typing as a great addition to his arsenal. One day as he relaxed on the Alolan beaches, a Pallosand emerged and attacked Brian and his friends, Frillish jumped in to help her trainer only to be beaten back easily, when he saw Brian about to get buried, she unleashed a powerful water attack and evolved as a result, her increased power helped her defeat the giant sandcastle Pokemon and proved to be a great ally for Brian.
Jellicent is extremely energetic and playful, always wanting to hang out and play with others and has a habit on clinging to Brian at times. After she evolved she seemed to gain a more sadistic side that was mainly shown in battle, this dark side of her was menacing enough to make even Brian's Metagross flinch.
Lemmie know if anything needs changing or if I should remove a Pokemon or two, even though he's meant to be more experienced, I understand if this is a lot.

WARNING, THIS IS A STAND-IN NAME, JUST TO GET THE POINT ACROSS. IN A THEORETICAL FAN-FIC, THIS COMPANY IS TEAM ROCKET REORGANIZED INTO A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS, HENCE, RKT. JUST FOR THE SAKE OF CONVENIENCE, I'M USING THE NAME RKT CORP IN PLACE OF JUST SAYING "THE BAD PEOPLE".
Anyway, my idea for the bad people is that there is one, smaller group that is easier to battle (the more classic style evil team) which focuses generally on being hoodlums - selling drugs, breaking stuff, stealing whatever, intimidating people, laying claim to "territory". But, that group will be funded/run by a legitimate, international business group named RKT CORPORATION. What makes the most sense is the group actually STARTED as the generic evil team, but took a legitimate turn at some point and it worked, due to the founder and CEO's general acumen.
RKT has recently thrown their hat into the Pokemon technological ring, adapting a much more commonly affordable, easy-to-use Pokemon Storage PC system. Over the past few years, not only have more and more regions and towns switched their systems over to RKT hardware and software, but RKT has worked toward cornering the markets that focus on breeding and selling starter Pokemon to hopeful, young trainers, as well as general PokeBall manufacturing. Of course, their criminal ring often focuses on stealing back the more valuable starter Pokemon being purchased legitimately.
Alongside monopolizing every corner of the Pokemon training market, RKT wishes to further drive up profits by programming an unfortunate glitch into their storage system: upon capture and transfer to a new box, or transfer between boxes, certain Pokemon have a minuscule chance to "disappear". Worried trainers contacting customer service are often met with hours of robo-narrated menus, hold music, and the occasional human explaining a "data error" that RKT uses to claim ignorance of any PC transactions that would result in "misplaced Pokemon".
Although RKT's political and economic influence make them a hard-to-topple foe, their inability to distance themselves from their criminal roots and growing assurance of their general immunity is what opens RKT to their downfall. What do they want? More money, more power. What will they do to get it? Anything.
A monopoly of the Pokemon Trainer Market would probably require RKT to launch some operation against the likes of Silph Co., Devon Corp., and others who would've already been very established as the premier producers of technology. Something like the Rocket take over of Silph Co., except more subtle cause terrorism isn't legitimate at all.

I mean, the monopoly could be their ultimate goal; the main idea being their prominence as a legitimate business coming into the general stratosphere as Silph and Devon. It mighta been Schrift who put it like, "so they're the Wal-Mart of Pokemon?" and basically...yeah, or the Amazon, in a sense. They weren't the first and they weren't necessarily expected to get as powerful as they did, but they offer cheap, quick, convenient and easy goods.
Yea, Hec makes a solid point. Are they doing anything...different or is it just cheaper? Would explain their target demographic, whether the wider trainer base or specifically newbie trainers looking to save a few bucks.
If they want to expand quickly, I would recommend their own cheaper brand, people don't care if it's lower quality as long as it does the job and is cheaper. Like dollar stores, it would spread fast

Ya my suggestion was gonna be something akin to, like, they have their own brand of Potions or PokeBalls which are individually inferior (say the Potions heal 5 HP *less* or the PokeBalls have a 1/100 chance to just...be a *dud*) to, say, Silph or Devon, but exponentially more affordable, and about as easily accessible as a company could make something like that -- like, say, the Pokemon version of Prime Delivery.

Ya most definitely — imma preface this by saying my focus rn is on finishing up my second character profile for this rp, and catching up on Superhero. Tomorrow I'm much more free to figure this all out and whatnot, but I do wanna float out off the top of my head:
RKT Poke Ball: $150; 1x catch rate modifier (or even .9x?), but a 1-in-50 chance to outright fail. So, essentially, if you buy 50 RKT Pokeballs, you save $2,500, *but* you're guaranteed at least *one* of those PokeBalls just...misfires.
Great Ball: $500; 1.2x catch rate modifier, a 1-in-100 chance to fail. Noticeably better than even a Silph Co Poke Ball, and thus twice as expensive — but noticeably worse than the Silph Co Great Ball slightly less expensive. Buying in bulk of 100 would save someone around $10,000, but again with the guarantee that at least *one* of those 100 fail.
(and so on, I'm sure the pattern I'm going for is apparent)
RKT Potion: $150; heals 15 HP instead of 20. Pretty straight forward.
Super Potion: $550; heals 40 HP.
Hyper Potion: $1000; heals 100 HP
RKT Repel: $275; keeps Pokemon away for 75 steps
Super Repel: $450; keeps Pokemon away for 150 steps
Max Repel: $775; keeps Pokemon away for 200 steps
Status Healing items, such as Antidote, Paralyze Heal, Burn Heal, etc. all have the same effect, except they are $150; outside of battle, they work the same. In battle, however, they don't heal status effects immediately; instead, the status condition remains for a little while longer, healing more naturally over time. In some instances, the status condition can worsen (slightly more poison damage, more attack reduction off burn, paralysis, etc.) before healing.
Anyway, that's what I have in mind. That started out simple, I started to get carried away lmao.
This will likely become important later on as we get into more custom-made interactions with Unown, Ruins, etc. Here are some questions I asked Stell and their answers:
Regarding Usage of Unown
For further information on Movie 3, it's the movie where the Unown created an entire world and specifically an Entei. Here's what Stell had to say on Illusions, Projections, and other Fake Legendary Encounters.
Regarding Fake Legendary Pokemon
Rules on Legendary Items
Regarding Legendary Locations
Regarding NPCs with Mega Pokemon
As more questions are asked this list will be updated.

Slim face, to the point of almost being gaunt, prominent cheekbones resting high under her expressive eyes. A long, pointed nose sits evenly between her symmetrical eyes and cheeks, patched by an array of freckles that stretch almost ear-to-ear. Small, round, pouty lips but a wide, pearly-white smile. Just under average height for her age, Penny often wears flats or sandals, not really a fan of heeled shoes. Often adorning herself in button-up blouses of varying floral designs in different colors, Penny matches those with skirts and knee-high or thigh-high socks. In the winter time, she'll wear thermal leggings under her skirts (if it's only somewhat cold) or under another pair of pants altogether. She keeps several cloaks — some for fall, summer and spring to keep away the rain, another pair also lined with thermal fabric for winter. Penny tends to wear a sun-hat that matches her eyes, though she'll occasionally switch that out for a beanie.
Personality: A quiet and patient girl for most of her life, Penny is currently undergoing a bit of a teenage rebellious phase — sneaking out at night, not coming home, neglecting chores, that sort of stuff; clever and studious, she planned for most of her life to attend a prestigious Academy in her home region of Unova, but was instead met with the news of her parents' divorce, the struggle of the custody settlement, and a sudden uprooting to Johto with her impish father.
Blessed with a wide array of technical, background knowledge, Penny has often been criticized for being much more of a thinker than a doer; she has less in the way of practical experience than she does theoretical. She knows a lot of things, but might not possess the wherewithal to perform such things.
Penny's interest has piqued, of late, in the negative environmental effects induced by corporate offices sprouting up across the Johto Region. A devout conservationist, she's concerned about people's need for convenience and instant gratification and that effect on the world - people and Pokemon alike - all around them.
Backstory: Born in Castelia City, Unova to a corporate lawyer father and grant-writing mother, Penny lived the life of a well-to-do rich girl for much of her young life. Homeschooled from an early age, she took to making friends with kids on her block in one of the city's ritzier neighborhoods. Whatever she wanted when she was younger, she got it. Even from a young age, she took to reading books and studying, wanting to be a Pokemon Professor — but she never asked for a Pokemon. Always more books, more lectures, more documentaries, more schematics and diagrams.
Things started to turn for the worse in Penny's home life right when she entered into a private academy, looking into colleges that would take her down non-Pokemon related career paths. Though she became popular at school, her parents argued, and her mother took to drinking, often punctuated with nasty fits of regret-soaked outbursts at Penny. Several times, the frightened girl had a full whine bottle whirled just inches away from her skull, shattering and splattering her with booze, glass slicing across her skin as it burst out or fell down to her feet.
Penny's father filed divorce shortly before her fourteenth birthday, right when she agreed to a date with a long-time friend of hers (back from when they played together on the block as kids.) Though the two were what seemed to be the perfect couple, the strain of the divorce filings and subsequent custody hearings (one of which her mom missed, the other, showed up hammered) took a heavy toll on Penny; it was all she could do to keep her grades respectable, let alone function and handle human relationships.
The kicker came when her dad announced he'd accepted a transfer to his company's office in Goldenrod City, Johto; he'd won the custody hearing quite easily, and hoped he and Penny could start a better life away from the failure of the past. Instead, he alienated Penny, whose boyfriend couldn't take the news and dumped her, citing emotional distance (and, eventually, physical.) In Johto, the frustrated teenager - seeking to lash out - began disobeying curfews, not asking her father permission to do anything, seeing certain, unseemly boys from school — beginning to live the life of a confused, hormonal, young girl without direction.
announced her intention, once again, to become a Pokemon Professor. Though her father strictly forbade her from entering a legitimate, Pokemon Academy, he did acquire for her little bit of a gift [bribe] — a starter Pokemon, the electric-bug Joltic, who the spider-crazed Penny took to immediately, naming, "Lil Zaps".
Still very much in the beginning of her story, Penny has worked a little bit with conservation groups surrounding the Ilex Forest and National Park, as well as the river running to the ocean near Goldenrod City; during a volunteer mission to clean up sections of Route 35, Penny met a strange, lost-looking Ditto. The two spent an hour together, the Ditto noticing Penny's efforts and deciding to help. Then, Penny returned the following day, to find the Ditto still there. And it hadn't moved the following day either, seeming to be waiting for something. Eventually, the girl got the nerve to ask if Ditto wanted to join her — which, to her surprise, the shape-shifting Pokemon agreed. She took to calling Ditto, "Mirror", since it loved to do mimic whatever she did.
On a day trip to the Ilex Forest to see Metapod evolution season in full swing, Penny again stumbled across a Pokemon in need — though this time it was far more dire; a baby Heracross had stumbled into a nest of Ariados and Kakuna, becoming poisoned, subdued by a large amount of speed-reducing string and otherwise battered by the many, hostile Pokemon. Penny, however, used her Ditto to transform into a large, menacing Beedrill, which intimidated the skittish spiders and won the allegiance of the Kakuna. The frightened, injured Heracross, though, didn't know this was an attempt to save its life, and attempted to battle Ditto in its Beedrill form. Penny, unwilling to attempt to harm the injured bug, fighting type any further, threw her first PokeBall in an attempt to capture it — and succeeded. Now with a third Pokemon on a vastly growing team, Penny named her Heracross Theseus. Although it wasn't quite as skilled a fighter as the old legend, she found it certainly as brave.

Dope, yeah and it can be subject to change and whatnot, if you/anyone comes up with any interesting modifications or spots like inconsistencies, whatever. I was just kinda spit-ballin' and whatnot.
Didn't initially intend that going in, what with the Ditto and all, but maybe lmao; she's just gonna keep accidentally accruing bug pokemon through absurd incidents.
Name: Charade (Char-ah-duh) Gender: Male Age: 20 Trainer Class: Criminal! (The dangerous evil kind! Very cool too! And Charming!)
Physical Appearance/Clothing: Charade is never seen without his crimson red leather long sleeved shirt with black highlights on the edges, along with a streaming golden cape behind him. He has black pants and flames along them that look...hand sewn? He is rather tall and lacking noticeable muscle depth.
Personality: Loud and bombastic, Charade is the leader of the Crimson Crew, an elite team of thugs that have only one member: Charade himself. But he is constantly recruiting, asking people to join while committing overwhelmingly underwhelming acts of crime that no one seems to treat seriously. he's not the brightest light in the room, but he sure is the most noticeable.
Backstory: He always rooted for the bad guy on the shows, reading the stories of team rocket and the team galactic articles in the past and wanting to be just like them. Unfortunately, both organizations fell out of style before he could get up to age, but that didn't stop him! His mother thought he would grow out of the evil phase, but as time ticked on, that never grew to pass.
Charade dawned his new name and wished to start his own band of the baddest of baddies, and so commanded his mom in a very polite fashion to help him make a evil outfit. She hesitantly obliged and he thanked her sinisterly. To this day he is building up his wicked empire...so he says.

Interesting. Any official rank in the World coronation series? Also, levels are mostly used as a reference for when Pokemon learn moves and not strictly a measure of power. Accepted!

Fair argument. @EnviousWorm and @Schrift also have an evil gang working under a legitimate business, so if you wanna coordinate with them feel free, or you can do your own thing.

Backstory: (I'll add that tomorrow)
Starter: Skol the slowpoke
Physical Appearance: Monty is 6 feet (and a quarter inch) tall and weighs about 185 pounds with a fairly lean but strong build. He has cream-white skin and short, loosely-curled brown hair that he keeps tightly faded until the curls can just barely spill over the sides of his head in an undercut. Monty's eyes are a striking steely-grey, and if they aren't lit up from the excitement of a fight they're set in an intimidating scowl. He's clean shaven, save for a short brown mustache that hardly ventures past the corners of his mouth and separates in the middle. Monty's hands betray a long history of fights and manual labor, with rough callouses on the palms and thick scars from countless split knuckles and broken fingers. A thin scar trails from just behind the lobe of his left ear to the left corner of his jaw before snaking halfway along his jawline at a slight downward slope.
Clothing: Monty regularly wears dark navy jeans tucked into his sturdy leather combat boots and a black belt on his bottom half, with a dark grey pea coat covering an open grey button-down and white undershirt on his upper half. He usually wears a grey flat cap that matches his pea coat, and his other accessories include a black wool scarf, black wool gloves, a pair of very small silver hoop earrings on his left ear, and a heavy black leather backpack.
Personality: Monty is aggressive, assertive, and supremely self-confident. He's the first to speak his mind in any situation and the first to throw a punch if speaking his mind didn't work, and he always prefers the latter. When Monty speaks his voice carries an authoritative tone, as though every word demands respect from an inferior, and a slight Kalosian accent can be detected behind each syllable. He trusts his own instincts above anything else, and has an incredibly hard time relying on anything or anyone else. -------------------------
The Kalos region's Lumiose City needs no introduction. It's a titan of industry, research, and service, with its sprawling cobbled streets packed full of cafés, businesses, and even the occasional laboratory. Beneath the shiny, tourist-attracting veneer however is a thriving criminal underworld. Many people fool themselves into thinking that Lumiose has been free of organized crime since the dissolution of Team Flare a decade ago, but those who spend a lot of time on the less traveled streets and in the less frequented speakeasies are more than familiar with what really goes on in the shadow of Lumiose Tower.
Common gangsters on the prowl for easy mugging victims can be found in major cities all over the world, but Lumiose's criminal underworld is far more structured. Milieus, a Kalosian word for mobs or mafias, have controlled different parts of Lumiose for generations, with roots running so deep that even police officers aren't keen on entering certain establishments or turning down certain streets. While Lumiose City has always had a Milieu regulating crime the current dominant power, the Old Guard, specializes in extortion, illegal goods smuggling, and Pokémon trafficking in addition to operating a number of speakeasies and unofficial brothels as fronts for their criminal enterprises.
Montagne Khastil was born twenty three years ago in one such brothel to a young woman named Lara Khastil as she worked to pay off a debt she owed to the Old Guard. Lara was an intelligent woman, enough so that she knew she could achieve and desperately yearned for a better life, but she was unfortunately far too poor to pay off her debts to the Old Guard in a timely manner. She devised a way to escape her life in Lumiose without her creditors following, but it would require leaving her son behind to pay off her debt for her. One fateful night, about three weeks after her son's birth, Lara Khastil slipped out of Lumiose City and escaped her debt, never to be seen or heard from again.
When Lara's disappearance was discovered the issue of what to do with Montagne made its way to some of the ranking members of the Old Guard, known as "beaux voyous" or "good boys". It was ultimately decided that the boy would be raised within the Old Guard, and would start working for them as soon as he could to begin paying off his mother's debt. He was more or less raised by the women of the brothel for the first eight years of his life, with his own room and everything, until Monty was old enough to begin running errands for the Old Guard.
Monty's tasks started small, things like helping clean around the nearby warehouses and running written messages from street to street, until by the time he turned 15 years old Monty was collecting extortion payments from local businesses as an enforcer. The job suited the young man well, as over his fifteen years of life he had developed considerable strength and street fighting skills, and he enjoyed the satisfaction of taking the money anyway when the occasional brave café or shop owner decided to act tough.
Even though Monty was making considerably more money as an enforcer, he had unfortunately accrued his own debts to the Old Guard after spending so long in their care and was unable to make any substantial progress in paying it off. A seed of resentment was planted in Monty's mind when he realized he would never pay off his debt at that rate, though he never complained about his station in life and accepted the fact the he was well suited for it.
About half a year into Monty's time as an enforcer, Team Flare was dissolved and the freshly energized Lumiose police force began cracking down harder on organized crime in the city. They began sending plain clothes officers into establishments just to wait for milieu associates to start trouble, and Monty was caught in one such operation when he tried to collect payments from a main street café. Monty was charged with extortion, assaulting a police officer, and evading arrest, though the boy held his tongue well and managed to endure every interrogation levied against him throughout his two month long stint in prison.
On his release day Monty was personally picked up by the Old Guard's Boss, a thoroughly cunning and forward-thinking man named Jean-Lue Cormier. Cormier had been following Monty's progress within the organization for some time, and the boy's silence during his sentence was all the proof he needed of his loyalty. Monty was inducted as an official beaux voyous and his responsibilities grew exponentially that day, and on any given night he could be doing anything from working security at an Old Guard warehouse to driving trucks laden with illegal goods or trafficked Pokémon.
Monty worked as a beaux voyou well into his young adulthood, and became something of a personal enforcer on behalf of Boss Cormier. Without even realizing it Monty had spent the four years since his release being groomed by Cormier to become the next Old Guard Boss, but the ever forward-thinking man let Monty in on the plan around the time he turned 19 years old. The Boss told him that he could continue to work as he was, or in exchange for wiping away his debt to the organization Monty could continue training to succeed him should he ever pass; a deal the younger man could never pass up.
Monty spent the next year and half learning the ins and outs of running a criminal enterprise, and a far more calculated and menacing mindset began developing within him. Things went smoothly until Monty and three other beaux voyous were caught in a joint-raid by the Lumiose police and Looker Agency on an Old Guard warehouse full of illegal contraband from a recent shipment. Between the four men only one had a Pokémon partner to fend off the dozen-Pokémon strong raid force, and the criminals were quickly subdued.
Monty was sent to prison for the second time on charges of illegal goods trafficking, conspiracy to traffic illegal goods, and assault on a police officer. During his four month stint Monty received the scar trailing from his ear to his chin after a former shop owner whom recognized Monty as the Old Guard enforcer who collected his payments attacked the young man with a shiv. His stay in prison was otherwise uneventful, and Monty utilized the time to learn as much as he possibly could about Pokémon battling.
Upon his release Monty picked up right where he left off with his Old Guard duties, which is where we find him in the present day.

Cormier had been following Monty's progress within the organization from some time, and the boy's silence during his sentence was all the proof he needed of his loyalty.
Without even realizing it Monty had spent the six years since his release being groomed by Cormier to become the next Old Guard Boss, but the ever forward-thinking man let Monty in on the plan around the time he turned 21 years old. The Boss told him that he could continue to work as he was, or in exchange for wiping away his debt to the organization Monty could continue training to succeed him should he ever pass; a deal the younger man could never pass up.
Monty spent the next two and a half years learning the ins and outs of running a criminal enterprise, and a far more calculated and menacing mindset began developing within him. Things went smoothly until Monty and three other beaux voyous were caught in a joint-raid by the Lumiose police and Looker Agency on an Old Guard warehouse full of illegal contraband from a recent shipment.

He will give his opinion on a battle, and will hopefully help all parties improve (Watchful, Helpful), and will see what he has to work with and how to use it efficiently and effectively (Resourceful). He isn't much for Jokes, but will see how it went .
Backstory: Firey left home at age 12, taking a Torchic named Burny with him, was looking around on route 104 to see what was around when he met a Marill, he battled it and despite type disadvantage, he managed to Catch the Marill and headed on into the forest, Firey, Marill and Burny then dealt with any training needing done as well as some of the wild Pokémon causing a minor disturbance that was affecting Trainer's travels, Marill had solved the issue and they went to Rustboro and faced Roxanne, Marill had some issues but between her and Burny, they managed to beat Roxanne, and gain the first Badge. He would then head through the caves, picking up an Aron and an Abra while he was training in the Caves, Both Burny and the Abra evolved while they were there. He would go to face Brawley, with Aron and Marill sitting out, as Burny and The Newly Evolved Kadabra who learned Confusion. As he went on, he defeated Wattson after Firey realized That Burny could use Double Kick. He got a hold of some way through the desert, it was a long and Arduous trip, but he met and Caught a Trapinch while he was there. When he arrived in Fallarbor town, he had to deal with a local Skarmory population and eventually his Marill evolved to Azumarill during the Skarmory defense. He then climbed down to mountain to Lavaridge town, where Flannery awaited. Between his Aron, his Trapinch and Azumarill, he managed to beat Flannery. He then left for Petalburg City, that he had passed earlier, having to fight Norman, while he was back in the forest, he did a lot of mental training with his Pokémon to make sure they were ready, he arrived as such, between Aron, who evolved into Lairon midbattle and Burny, alongside Trapinch who evolved into Vibrava during the battle, he beat Norman, barely this time. After that, he headed off to find and fight Winona, as he got close to Fortree City, he was ambushed by Ninjas and managed to beat the three who ambushed him. After that, he took shelter for the night and woke up to find an Absol looking through his stuff, and helped her as best as he could, to which she eventually joined his team, nicknamed Sharp as he trained her alongside his Lairon as they prepared for Winona, which he knew was going to be tough. He prepared his team and went in, Beating Winona, due to unexpected events like Lairon learning Iron Tail. Firey wins the badge, and then decides to check out something in Meteor falls, as he arrived, he found a Bagon. The bagon was trying to fly, but it couldn't, he promised to help Bagon to eventually fly. After that was heading to Mossdeep to challenge the gym there, he gets over there after three months' training for Lairon to learn Surf, she Evolved into Aggron in the process, and off to Mossdeep, having to deal with a random Tentacruel problem after one tried to take a swimmer away. He got the Tentacruel to return where it was from and then approached Mossdeep City, took some time to train his team before heading into the Gym, Double battles. He used Aggron and Bagon, who Evolved into Shelgon mid battle and Aggron Surfed through Lunatone and Solrock. He was close, when he got a call that his mother had died. He went back home through Pacifidlog town towards Oldale Town. He arrived just in time for the funeral, watched over the family while he trained for a week and then had to head to Sootpolis to fight Wallace. He popped in after training some of his Pokémon, Aggron handled The Seaking with Blocking the Horn Drill, and turning the battle on its head. The rest of the team was very tough, but Shelgon and Vibrava both Evolved and Salamence learned how to Fly. He then prepared for the League, which was two months out, found Sky Pillar, but only went up to the second to floor to train against the wild Pokémon there for a month then headed to Victory Road. Getting through there took three days and he trained against the wild Pokémon there. He went to the league, Aggron swept a kid in a three on three match and his Rival Darius showed up for the first time. Firey was able to figure out weak points in opponents strategies and exploit those with his watchfulness and resourcefulness, making his rounds three and four matches flip from possible losses to wins. He got all the way to the Finals when he had to face Darius, Darius's Dragonair fell to Salamence, who also took out Alakazam before going down herself, after that Cloyster came out, Aggron Iron tailed it to go down before Aggron met Rhydon, both Pokémon knocked each other out. Darius's Swampert beat both Sharp and Azumarill before Flygon came into play beating Swampert and tying Tyranitar. He won the league and proceeded to take a good bit of training before fighting the Elite Four, he beat Sydney due to strategic planning, Mirror moves and Double Kicks. He lost to Phoebe though, 6-4, if it wasn't for his skills honing in, he would had been swept.
At that point, he declined the spot Sydney had and went to train, for nine years he, Burny, Sharp, Aggron and Salamence would train in multiple ways to get the group stronger. He even helped some of the bigger cities with some of their night crimes and caught several major suspects. During that time, stories of the Cloaked Rider came into appearance. After four of those years, he was told about a place called Sinnoh. He went there and trained, fought and even collected the Gym Badges, while he was there, he was following the reports of an oddly colored Skorupi that had been the target of poachers. His four years of Experience as a Vigilante were put to use when he found the Skorupi, and the Poachers. He fought poachers, four of them attacked, Aggron dealt with then all and Firey looked to see if Skorupi was okay, the Pokémon actually jumped in one of the spare pokeballs on his belt and joined the team. Skorupi was a helpful Pokémon with training Lower level trainers and it evolved into a Drapion right before the league. He registered his team and waited for the first round, he beat his opponent there, and it continued until the Finals, in which he ran into Kent Fieldcrosser, who ended up winning. Firey knew someone was going to end his streak, and he then was told about Unova, and Pokémon that couldn't be found almost anywhere else. As soon as he could he went to Unova, where his life changed for the better. Since his mental stability was starting to fail after his mother died, and aloofness was starting to take over but it was in Unova where he would meet his wife (More on that on main character). Firey would gain badges like usual, but at a slower, instead of six to eight months to get badges and prepare for the League, he took two years. He actually got some time to explore, as his first match was vs Chili. Drapion finished that match up, as he continued on, he found a Gigalith that had been terrorizing route 3. He tried to reason with the Pokémon, but it left him no choice, he caught the Gigalith after a long battle between him and Firey's Blaziken. He bumped into a girl in Nacrene City looking for Nuvema Town. He had passed the town earlier that week and decided to help her. When they got there, she picked out her starter as he watched, and the two walked on towards Nimbasa City, Since his Salamence knew Fly, he had her fly them there, with the Girl guiding him and Salamence. She introduced herself as Ariana Montgomery and they continued on their journey, the remaining badges were obtained somewhat easily, barring Skyla, who he would have lost if Gigalith hadn't learned Stone Edge Mid battle. He then trained through Victory Road, half way through, he accidentally startled a Boufalant and he missed the league that year due to injuries. He would realize while in the hospital that life is more than just training, the league, vigilantism, especially after he learned Ariana didn't leave his side during the time he recovered. It was at that point he went and asked her to do something for a day off training and stuff. So they went to Nimbasa, and looked around the city. It was then that he realized he would ask her to travel to what region he heard about next. She said yes, and they trained for the Better part of the year, when the league came back around, Firey dominated going the first four rounds without a KO, one close call that Sturdy on Aggron covered. He would face Jason Bluemoon and barely eek out a win in the semi finals, with Ariana practically cheering him on, he had the confidence to beat Darius, again after revealing the sixth pokeball, which was Volcarona, versus a Cacturne that Darius caught at home. It was a slaughterfest, with Volcarona having a field day. He then faced the Elite Four, beating them, taking two months to train before hand. He then Faced Alder, going one for one until the final match, which was Firey's Blaziken versus Alder's Volcarona in which a mistake caused a Hyper Beam to knock out Burny. Alder had commented that was the closest battle he'd had in Years, and there's someone who wants to see you. Ariana had been watching from the entrance and was given a suggestion to go to Kalos. The two thought it was a good idea for a more relaxing place. They then headed off, after giving the Elite Four a wave goodbye. It took a while to get there, but they arrived in Kalos. They take two days to sight see and see what the person talking about. They watched a Pokémon performance and Ariana had immediately decided to do those. The two would train, take in the sights and he would eventually catch a Magikarp while fishing one day. He'd work on training his Magikarp as one of the greatest challenges he ever had, more so than facing Alder. He reached Santalune City and Challenged Viola, using a bug type to beat the Pokémon Gym. He then headed off after telling her she could find a member of the species in Unova. As they went through the routes, he found an injured Luxio and immediately went to get help. After that, Luxio joined Firey's team. As they trained, Ariana completed her required Princess Keys, which sent them towards Firey's gym battles, Valerie was the only one that didn't go smoothly until he found out Aggron had a field day with the fairies. The next two badges took a whole month to get to, each. After that, The two went to do their specific events, Ariana made it to the semi finals of the Master class, as Firey won the League, it was not easy, and Darius and Jason returned, Firey Dominated Jason in round three, as Firey Faced Darius, it was pretty even until Firey had no choice but to send out Magikarp. The Magikarp evolved into Gyarados upon release of pokeball, and immediately learned Dragon Dance, Crunch, Waterfall, and Dragon Tail, using Dragon Dance, Waterfall and Crunch to decimate the Alakazam. He went into the Elite Four, and beat them, fighting Diantha, but could not win due to Diantha's Mega Evolution, as he was not able to access any. He did get commented for being one of the Closest battles she had in a few years. She then suggested relaxing with his wife. He denied the fact he would marry her, but he had got together with her right after he had fought Alder. He had snagged a ring in Lumiose city, and prepared to propose when he landed in Alola, which was a suggestion from Lana, Ariana's sister. The two went to Alola, and landed safely. When he got in Alola, he figured his plans would be to tutor and Propose marriage. He had a Layover in Goldenrod City where a man that worked with his father gave him an Egg, an Incubator, and a deed. Alola ended the nine year intense training, he met a Hawlucha on route three. He then started tutoring after some research on what his Pokémon could teach each other. He started on Tutoring Aerial Ace with the help of his then newly Caught Hawlucha. Burny and Gigalith were learning Stone Edge, well, Burny was, Gigalith was the tutor. He then had Luxray Tutor Volcarona for Wild Charge, and then His egg Hatched into a Beldum on the way to the forest halfway through Gigalith's tutoring. He trained Beldum with the help of Hawlucha until it evolved. His research continued when he found that Metagross could learn Psycho Cut. He had Sharp tutoring, and it got most of the way done. He then proposed, after Aggron's tutoring was completed, and she said yes. When the tutoring was done, he walked around, planning the wedding when they were alone together. Towards the end of their time there, Ariana was ambushed by a family of Roaming wild Heracross. Firey brought out Aggron and Metang as two Heracross challenged him. Aggron beat her Heracross, but Metang struggled until its desire to protect those closest to it came out, leading to evolution. The Newly Evolved Metagross Mastered Psycho Cut and learned Hammer Arm immediately and proceeded to knock out the Heracross. After that incident, The two prepared for their wedding in Goldenrod City, Johto. After selecting the venue and sending the invitations, they left for Goldenrod, with four months to the wedding, to help set up any final plans. The wedding came, everyone they invited, including Grimsley, Wikstrom, Alder and Diantha, those four were the ones who recommended him for The Battle Frontier. Firey and Ariana's Pokémon helped keep the paparazzi off of the four people and everyone else. Those four were able to talk about the Battle Frontier and the fact that they are looking for a new Facility and Brain. He thought about it, and applied for it. He got a call from the guy who invites people for the Frontier, saying that he's good to go as soon as he came up with a facility. Over the next three years, financing and construction of the Battle Maze would be completed. The day the facility was supposed to open, Ariana's water broke and Emma (Lower ranking OC) was born. He opened two weeks after she was born, has been running the facility for the last fifteen years. His facility is five floors of mazes that you have to get from one end to the other. Complete the first Maze, you go to the second and so forth until you complete the Fifth Maze, where you face the Maze Guardian himself in a three on three. He is currently away from the facility and finding strategy ideas in Galar.

Name: Emmaline Marissa "Emma" Argentston
Alias: The Masked Skull
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Trainer Class (What goal do you have in mind for your character? Contests/Battler/Breeder/etc.): Battler
Physical Appearance: Emma is 5'9" long flowing silver hair, her hair is commonly kept in a right side ponytail. She has her mother's green eyes, and freckles on her average on a athletic but busty feminine frame.
Clothing: Emma commonly wears a yellow shirt with Cheri berry on the sleeves, the shirt is commonly worn open, with a red tank top under it, she commonly wears various pants, shorts or skirts depending on the season or event. She has a white reversible cloak with a black inside, which she reverses when she goes out as The Masked Skull. She wears a pendant on her neck that when asked, she will say she got it when she was young.
Personality: Emma is a Bold, Confident, Adventurous and even a bit flirty during her normal adventures, the Masked Skull is Serious, Watchful, and Resourceful. Even with those traits, she can find herself to be sweet and caring towards the right person and can be very cruel towards Pokémon Poachers, with the possibility of The Masked Skull traits seeping into her. She would be the one to start the conversation, but will never give her last name as it would reveal one of her Secrets.
Backstory: She was born the night construction finished on the Battle Maze, her Father's Frontier Facility. When she was 10, she left to Journey around Hoenn, being a little late and ended up with a Duskull. She fought the gyms, with her egg, which was gifted for a lesson on Responsibility, Hatched into an Oddly colored Larvesta. The two went through Roxanne with some difficulty, after that, most of the Gyms were pretty easy except Flannery, who beat her once, but some Trainer was being cruel towards a Drampa, the trainer released the Drampa after it gave no response. She then helped it out by trying to figure out what it was doing. Drampa ends up joining her team and they faced Flannery again, she won this time, but not without Drampa's Ability activating. After her Battle with Flannery, she found a Togetic wandering about Petalburg, and ended up Messing up Norman, and beat the rest pretty easily. During Victory Road, an Aggron attacked her and Larvesta stepped up to protect her, struggling severely until Larvesta started evolving, which it then immediately learned Quiver Dance, which it used to start outpacing the Aggron, and eventually learned Heat Wave which ended up taking out the Aggron. She then got to the league and prepared for it, mentally and Physically. When the league came, Her Duskull Evolved into Dusclops and her Drampa learned Fly. Dusclops and Volcarona totally messed up a young Psychic Trainer, as Drampa went berserk, and swept an entire team. She reached the Semifinals before her team got destroyed by a Charizard. She then prepared for what's next when she was told about the Galar region, and she immediately prepared for Travel. She headed off and landed in Motostoke with enough time to register and start the Ceremony. She went through the Ceremony with the Number 637. She then headed towards Turffield, Picking up A Yamper while she was there. She went through the Gym mission and fought Milo, he was somewhat easy, despite not being used to Dynamaxing. She then went on to the next gym, having to deal with her first major Rival, Francesca, who barely loses to Volcarona, and they then go on their separate ways towards finding Nessa, she gets to Hulberry and takes a rest. The next day, she challenged Nessa after navigating through a waterfall Maze. Nessa was tough, but not that tough due to Drampa and Yamper doing the work. As Emma continued on she caught a Shellos for facing Kabu. She faced Kabu, after Catching some Vulpixes. After defeating Kabu, she went on and caught a Wooloo, and then headed to face Allister, his mission was a bit tough, but she pulled it off, and faced him, Wooloo and Dusclops put in the work. Somewhere in there, she gets a hold of an Electrizer that she doesn't need, she was going to sell it, but her traveling companion had gotten a hold of a Reaper Cloth, and had an Electabuzz. So they swapped Evolutionary items, and did an evolution trade, Emma needed Disknoir back as he was her starter, and got him back. The two ended up in Ballonlea and faced Bede, (please keep in mind that Opal was nearly 90 when Sh/Sh happened), defeating him was a Cinch due to Volcarona and Boltund (the Yamper). After Ballonlea is when everything went towards her becoming the Masked Skull. Poachers killed her Wooloo looking for the wool, and Volcarona, who was rather close with Wooloo, flipped, and utterly floored those poachers, who had a Metagross and a Copperajah. Emma would bury Wooloo as a Raboot walked up to her, looking similarly downcast. She would end up asking Raboot if he had a trainer and he pressed a spare pokeball. Raboot's Trainer's sister would walk up explaining that Raboot's trainer was her brother and he had died. She nodded and promised to take care of Raboot, After that was Melony. Volcarona and Raboot had a field day with that one after the mission. It was during the nights she was in towns that she would fight crime around the cities she was in. As she did this, her father would take notice. She then went to challenge Piers, his Dark types had a nasty taste of their own medicine, with Raboot evolving into Cinderace, learning Pyro Ball and Counter. She then continued down to Raihan, where her Starter and Drampa beat him after the two gym trainers. She then prepared for Wyndon, while that was going on she found a Goomy in the wild Area, and got a hold of a Shiny Stone as a gift from her mother, for her thirteenth birthday. She arrived at the league, and made all the way to the Finals, as she encountered Alain (has Canonical Mega Charizard X), even Dusknoir and Cinderace couldn't beat him. She then went to the Isle of Armor, for martial arts training. That would go on for around eight months, she went home, and found her dad wanting to train her further. For the last year, she had been training her Pokémon, and herself for mental training. She left for Johto around her 15th birthday (a week and a half before starting the story), and arrived the day before the story started. Goomy evolved into Sliggoo and became a member she went to Johto with.

Jeez Louisus it’s been eight hours and alluva sudden BIOS GALORE frick
Name: Emil Olsson Gender: Female Age: 16; birthday December 18 Trainer Class: Breeding and Contests
Physical Appearance: Slight of stature and flat-chested, Emil has a childlike yet surprisingly athletic build. Her hair is delicately wavy and a blond in varying hues, with a light dusting of freckles across her pale face and shoulders. Her eyes are a startling indigo, sparkling with flecks of green and gold, peeking out from beneath long bangs. Her right arm is missing from slightly below the shoulder joint. Clothing: Simple and practical, Emil wears slightly big cargo pants with a wide variety of easily-accessible pockets and a thin, wide-cut long-sleeved shirt. Over that, she wears a looser shirt, generally button-down, that she wouldn’t mind getting dirty. When she isn’t working, the overshirt is generally tied around her waist, out of the way. As to how she does so, she has become quite adept at using only one arm to get around in everyday life.
Personality: Emil is naturally a hard worker, born as a ninth child in a family of twelve and always competing with her siblings. The consistent feelings of not being good enough make her strive to impress in her own way. Her love of Pokémon means she prefers to stay away from battles, as they can get hurt, but is not shy at all when it comes to contests. She loves to show off her Pokémon’s abilities and her own unique sense of what makes a creature beautiful, and is quite an accomplished contest competitor in her age group. While ranked higher than many, there are many ranked higher than her, and that fact drives Emil to train even harder. And to anyone who dares to say contests are for wimps, she will gladly battle them—but only with a max revive on hand… for the other person.
Backstory: Born on a farm in Kalos with eleven other siblings, along with parents and quite a few members of extended family, Emil’s home was still rarely crowded. A few people were always working— whether it was milking the Miltanks, taking the Herdiers out for a run, or defending a pasture from a wild Pokémon on a rampage, there was always something to be done. Plus, the older kids had their fun sneaking out at night doing insane dares, or studying late hours. Many of them already have designated jobs on the farm as adults, and others had moved away to far out regions to battle or start businesses.
Two of her brothers are already Great Ranks 357 and 645, and the Olsson family farm is one of the best known breeding facilities in the world, only adding to Emil’s desire to prove herself. Their selective breeding processes for size, beauty, or strength have yielded impressive results thanks to the work of her parents, so Emil feels she has a lot to live up to. She studied hard and did her part on the farm with her Lillipup, Amaranth, learning about the technical as well as the hands-on parts of it, studying the behavioral patterns of many Pokémon and being taught how to breed for desirable traits and breed out the less desirable.
As she grew older, Emil received more responsibility as her younger siblings received the more menial tasks that she’d performed earlier in life. Despite being younger, she was one of the more responsible kids, and got her work done early, then went back to her studies on genetics, heredity, and the like. Sometimes, though, her more rambunctious siblings convinced her to sneak out with them and run through the Mareep pens or scare the Glameows out of the loft. It was during one of these escapades that Emil lost her right arm.
Five of them, including Emil, had gone up to the cliffside overlooking the coast to go cliff diving. Her oldest brother took the first leap, doing intricate flips before landing in a near-perfect dive. The twins went next, doing a rather painful-sounding belly flop in tandem. One of Emil’s older sisters encouraged her to try it next, but as she went under the water, some loose rocks were dislodged from the cliff face, raining down around the kids. Emil’s arm was trapped beneath one, crushed. The limb had to be amputated, and over time, she learned to live without it. But she still has an intense fear of water, and sometimes has phantom feelings of her arm when it was still there.
Time went on, and Emil grew older. She took part in her first contest with Amaranth when she was eleven, the Lillipup now a Herdier, and fell in love with the process. She trained harder, thinking that this could be the way she distinguished herself from her siblings. Eventually, Amaranth became a Stoutland, and Emil decided to travel abroad. She would encounter more trainers, contests, and Pokémon, and be challenged like never before, yes— but that was the fun of it.
She added to her team as time went on.
Amaranth: Stoutland
Adamant Nature
Likes Spicy / dislikes Dry
Selectively bred for size and speed on the farm. Emil’s closest friend throughout childhood and beyond. Between 5 and 6 feet tall.
Pikti: Jellicent (Male)
Naive Nature
Likes Sweet / dislikes Bitter
Encountered in a forest near a lake. Emil noticed it following her after around half an hour. Battled and captured it; the two are now tight friends.
Ivy: Servine
Rash Nature
Likes Dry / dislikes Bitter
Given to Emil by a friend. Constantly annoyed because of its comparably small size to the rest of Emil’s Pokémon. Eager to evolve to tower over them both, so reluctantly listens to its Trainer, but can often be found outside its Pokeball training on a tree or terrorizing wild Pokémon.
Starting region: Sinnoh
Contest/breeder! Prolly gonna be more of a side character depending on how much I post but eh let’s go with it lol
