Just in curiosity, do we follow how everything happens in the game, or do we write our own story(EXAMPLE: My guy faces team rocket while in veridian forest and follows them to saffron city into the silph co.) Follow up question, is this before or after red beats and dis-mantles team rocket?

I kind of wonder too... Maybe it's a bit combined, we go in the game's order but the story has our own twist to it...
