Open Professional Battling League

Everly’s eyes widened in disbalief. As much as she liked to boast how great of a trainer she was, she was shocked she had won this battle. Rampardos slowed to a stop, the flames once again dying out. He was breathing extremely heavily, and slowly made his way back to Everly, clearly worn out. Everly hugged Rampardos so tight her arms hurt. His body was still hot from the fire, and she quickly let go. “Rampardos, we did it! I cant believe it, we won! Im so proud of you buddy. You did so well. How about you take a rest ok? Return!” She clicked the pokeballs button, and a red light took Rampardos back into the ball. Everly glanced at Otis, and she couldnt keep her newfound admiration for the trainer hidden. “Otis, that was...amazing! I would be lying if i said that wasnt one of the most intense battles ive ever had! I cant imagine what your other pokemon can do...”

Shiori was completely floored by the battle he just witnessed. That was... incredible... The whole intensity of the battle reminded him of two great titans clashing, fighting and brawling until one came out on top. And one did come out on top. Everly and her Rampardos had fought like it was against her most intense rival at that moment. It really was a beautiful battle, full of twists and turns. This was definately the type of battles that Pierre liked. Shiori began applauding, and Raza looked quite impressed as well.
"That was amazing! A real fantastic battle, both of you!" Shiori said.

Otis ran over to Serperior, she was holding a revival herb. Serperior opened her eyes, and quickly ate the herb. “You did an amazing job, Serperior!” Otis pet Serperior, and Serperior smiled, she was proud of herself. “Phew, that was an intense battle!” Otis exclaimed. Serperior got up and slithered to Everly, with Otis behind her. Otis smiled at Everly, “Thanks, and congrats on beating me, no one has ever beat me before!” That was true, every person she has battled so far lost to Otis and her pokemon, that is why she is the champion of the Unova region.

Everly blushed at the praise she had been given by her friends. She had never realized there were so many ways to battle. She was so thankful to Shiori and Otis for teaching her new ways of battling. She would never be able to thank them enough. “Thank you so much! To both of you guys! Ill definitely be using everything you guys showed me in my main battle!” She hoped she would get to battle Joe too. She wanted to learn everything. Everly pat Serperior on the her head. She fought so hard. “Im proud of you too Serperior. Youre so fast!”

“Aww, your welcome!” Otis was so happy for Everly. Serperior smiled and hugged Everly, she had enjoyed battling Rampardos. Otis looked at Serperior and let out a quiet laugh, “I think she likes you!” Otis was really proud of Serperior, she had fought her hardest. “Group hug!” Otis exclaimed as she also joined in on the hug, Otis was quite the hugger.

Shiori watched as the girls and their Pokemon hugged it out. How cute. But there was something unusual that Otis had said that confused Shiori. Did she say that she had never lost a match, before this one? Shiori found that a little difficult to believe. People in Unova weren't exactly what Shiori would call wimpy. They were pretty tough. And Otis said she hadn't lost once? Not even when she was starting out? Well, it wasn't any of his business. Shiori turned his attention to Joe. He smiled challengingly at the young woman.
"So... you want to have a go? I still have some time before my match starts." Shiori said.

Everly giggled happily as she got embrased in a tight group hug. She had never been the type to hug others, but this was different somehow. She wasnt just happy because she won. She had never had such a great group of friends such as these people. Even their pokemon all had their own interesting personalities that gave everything a whole new perspective. She couldnt wait to see her friends main battles. Then she overheard Shiori ask Joe to battle, and she began to get excited again. She liked battling, but she enjoyed watching others battle too.

Joe watched the battle unfold with a critical eye, soaking in as much tactic and status as she could read from the trainers and their pokemon. She was a stratigic thinker by heart, always had been, her team well balanced between speed, defense, and brute force, carefully worked to create the strongest powerhouse she could muster of all her friends.

Everly used a potion and she quickly made sure the scowl she felt didn't reach her face for viewing. She hated when trainers used healing machines and berries, always feeling the pokemon's base strength should be the determining factor. However her disapproval quickly vanished as Everly showed her a different way to fight, one she had never seen before. Her pokemon coated itself in fire, and charged, intriguing Joe. When she thought about it, Baily did something similar with a natural move she knew. However using a differing move like that? Joe smiled softly, a bit of a smirk. She'd have to work on that, maybe with Paula...

The battle was over, and Joe smiled, her personality flopping back to openly friendly. She was naturally friendly, and honest, but battles? They brought out a whole different side to her.

She listened to Otis and Everly, a flicker of envy shooting through her. She had lost a few battles in her time, though latter in her career, and to a good friend of hers. She was to focused on them, and it took her a moment to realize she was being spoken too.

"O-oh!" she exclaimed, eyes widening as she stared at Shiori. "Me?" she smiled nervously and lifted her shoulders a little. "Uh... I guess..." she nervously adjusted her ball cap, fidgeting before the confident actor. It had blindsided her, but in hindsight it probably shouldn't have. She was used to confident trainers, and eager battlers, but she was also used to reserved fighters, and had planned to take that stance.

Squash quickly rushed into the Aether Dome. Phew, just in time! Streaks of liquid rushed down the boy’s face, and his tongue hung out like a Rockruff’s. He was partially upset since he never got to see or draw any of the Alolan Pokemon, but was astounded by the size of the dome. Not even Mauville’s dome came close to this.

Squash’s bag rustled, and out popped hit Togepi, who was fumed after being covered by ink. Squash sighed, lifting up his box of pens. Ink covered the entire case. Not matter. He would just have to use a pencil.

Entering the dome and getting a room, the boy rushed into the dorm and quickly changed clothes. His Togepi, Gohan, hopped on his bed after a good washing. The boy picked up his partner, who struggled to get back on the bed, and the duo huried to the stadium.

Over-hearing the intercom of the latest victory, the boy grew worried very quickly, but finally entered the lobby filled with the other trainers. Blood was rushing through his body twice as fast. His pulse was beating with furiousity, and a big smile spread through his face, while Gohan continued eating through Squash’s sandwiches and apples.

Otis let go of Everly, “That was intense, and that was just the training! Imagine the real battle!” Otis’ eyes brightened, “Well, I’m going back to the lounge!” She waved good bye, and entered the lounge. She sat down, with Serperior sitting next to her. Otis let out a sigh, and then noticed someone new was here.

Everly waved to Otis, giving a small smile. She really wanted to watch Joe’s and Shiori’s battle... Everly walked back to Joe, Shiori, and Raza, Abra following close behind as always. She yawned and stretched, warn out by the battles she had had. The heat wasnt helping. She sat down, putting her bag down beside her, Abra gently sitting himself down on her lap. She rested her back against the wall and shut her eyes. She was sure she would wake up when she heard the battle starting. Little did she know, when she had set her bag down, Luxio’s pokeball had rolled out of the bag along with a few potions (as she didnt keep everything safely in a pouch). The pokeball popped open and Luxio blearily opened his eyes in the sunlight. He stretched lazily and looked around. Sniffing the air, he caught a wonderfully sweet smell and made his way happily towards it.

Otis looked at Squash, “Hello, what is your name?” Otis held her hand out. Serperior sniffed Squash’s bag, she smelled something good. “Oh, don’t mind Serperior . . .” Otis said, and Serperior stopped, moments away from opening Squash’s bag. Otis sighed again, and Serperior sat back down.

“Oh, hiya!” Squash was taken back by the sudden introduction. “H-hey, Otis. I’m Squash. Nice to meetcha.” He give his hand to Otis, gripping tightly and shaking it with excitement. He watched on his Serperior headed for his bag. Luckily, Gohan quickly popped out and smacked the Serperior’s pointed nose, scoffing, and returning to his snack. “Gohan! Get off my food!” The Togepi hopped out the bag, avoiding a smack, and giggled.

“Oh, Otis. You were the one that lost, right? Sorry about that...I at least hope the match was fun.”

Luxio trotted back toward the arena, whimpering as his mouth watered in hunger. The doors to the arena were closed, and Luxio, not paying attention to where he was going, smacked right into the door. He yelped and jumped back, rubbing his paw over his head. He growled threateningly at the door, his fur fluffing up in a way to make himself look tougher. He then noticed his reflection in the glass door, and he pounced at it, only to get knocked back again. He had almost had enough. This pokemon was getting in the way of his food. Electricity popped in his fur, and his body began giving off small zaps of lightning. He stalked slowly towards his reflection when the door opened and a very important looking man walked out. He seemed to be on the phone with someone. The guy was probably a guard, the ones who let people in their dressing rooms. Luxio trotted passed him happily, and the sweet smell was now almost overwhelming.

“Oh, don’t worry, that was just for training, I haven’t done my real match yet!” Otis smiled, and she wondered, who she was going to really battle. She pushed that question to the back of her mind. Serperior fell back as a pokemon smacked her, this made her more curious. She silently crept up on the bag, and she fully opened it.

“Oh...I thought it was the real match. I’m just really excited, my bad.” Squash sighed and scratched his head. “The matches are gonna be here soon, so I should prepare...” Gohan we fed back in the back earlier. Gohan look irritated this time to see Serperior again, and the small baby Pokemon took control and bit her nose.

“Speaking for prePARED,” Squash took the Togepi off of Serperior’s nose. “How about a two on two? The matches won’t start soon, so we could have a little spar. Up for the challenge?” Gohan hopped out of Squash’s arms, landing on the table, and crossed his arms, sniffing.

Luxio bounced happily around the lounge, oblivious to the annoyed looks he received from trainers and pokemon alike. The food was here somewhere.. He sniffed in Squash's bag, hoping to find the sweet smell in there. Nope! Although there WAS some food in there. He was about to take the food, but he remembered Everly saying something about thievery, and that it was bad. He looked up at the new trainer, sitting down and tilting his head in a begging manner. She didnt say anything about ASKING though!

“Alright! One rule, let’s not knock each other out. Don’t know when the tournament may start, hehe.” Gohan ginned with excited, punching his fist. He then spotted the Luxio, and with his foot, pushed it away in the face, growling. The Togepi looked ready to bite the Luxio as well. “Gohan, stop that!”

Luxio whimpered, putting his tail between his legs and gazing curiously at the little white pokemon. He sniffed curiously at it. Maybe that was what he had smelled? But the last time he had checked, food wasnt mean to him. He trotted off with a last glance to the strange pokemon, wondering what it was. Then he stopped. The snack bar!! When he was in here last, he hadnt been super hungry and hadnt smelled all of the deliciousness that was snacks, but now, as he approached the buffet of food, he knew this was the place. His mouth watered even more and his stomach growled loudly, causing a few people to look curiously in his direction.

“Okay then, so is it a one-on-one battle, or a double battle?” Otis already had her hand in her bag, and she pulled out a pokeball. Otis looked at Squash for a second, before looking at the Luxio. “That pokemon looks cool!” Otis smiled, and Serperior slithered up to Luxio. Serperior looked down at the Luxio, and waved.

Luxio gazed at Serperior, then back at the food. His stomach rumbled and he gave a slight whimper. The he looked back at Serperior and gave a small wave with his tail. Maybe this giant pokemon could help get food? He spun around in a circle once, then trotted over to where they had all of the delicious food stacked high on top of a table. He couldnt reach..

It took a second before Serperior realized what the Luxio was trying to say. Serperior nodded, and her tail lifted up, and grabbed some of the food off the table. She slowly brought the food down, until the food lay perfectly on the ground. Serperior sniffed the food, a sweet aroma entered her nose. Wow . . . She glanced at the Luxio, smiling.

Luxio purred happily, gobbling the food up hungrily. He was so happy, and much more content.. he saddled up alongside Serperior and nudged her appreciatively. Then he hopped back over to Otis and purred at her happily. Suddenly he dropped to the ground and rolled onto his back, waiting for her to pet his tummy. He liked it much better than he did outside in the heat.

Shiori smiled at Joe's response, and put some distance between himself and the girl. He put Looper's Pokeball back in his luggage bag and pulled out a different one, an Ultra Ball.
"Hey, if you don't want to battle then you don't have to. I can respect that." Shiori said. Raza seemed to perk up again at Shiori once again gearing up for a battle. The punk girl ran over to the actor, a hopeful expression on her face. Once again Shiori looked at Raza, an amused expression on his face, and shook his head. Raza frowned and crossed her arms once again, making a small huffing sound as she walked away. The punk girl sat down not far away, getting ready to watch the match and growling softly.

Joe's mind whirled, her smile growing confident as she backed up, flexing her hand. Paula? No maybe not... Kimiko? Might be risky...

Shiori's words just barley registered, but she smiled and nodded. "No worries, might be fun," she un-clipped a pokeball from her belt, choosing her closest companion. Better safe than sorry, and he was her most well balanced option.

"Let's have fun, yeah?" she managed before giving the pokeball a light toss.

The Typhlosion erupted from the pokeball with a triumphant roar, fire leaping up from his neckline and causing heat waves to distort the air around him, he set his blue eyes on the trainer before him, smiling softly as he flexed well hardened muscles.

Reese was her go too, fast, yet strong, kind, yet cunning. He was her brother at heart, and her first pokemon companion.

"Oh, wow... A Typhlosion! That's really cool!" Shiori said. "But check this out! Meet C.K!"
Shiori pressed the button on his Ultra Ball, and a large bird Pokemon burst from it. For this battle, Shiori had chosen his Braviary, C.K. He could have gone with one of his other water-types, since Joe had already picked a fire-type, but Shiori had already picked C.K. The Braviary was actually pretty big for it's species, standing a little taller than it's trainer. Around it's neck, a purple Life Orb hung in a necklace. C.K noticed the Typhlosion Joe had sent out, and flapped aggressively. It's expression was one of stoic focus and seriousness. Shiori posed dynamically, pointing at Joe and Reese.
"Prepare yourself! C.K, use Rock Slide!" Shiori exclaimed. The Braviary took to the air and let out a cry as the Life Orb glowed, enveloping the bird Pokemon's body in a purple energy. Large Boulders, also enveloped in purple energy, appeared around the Braviary and were launched at Reese. Even though the Life Orb had powered up C.K.'s move, it didn't look like it had affected C.K.'s health.

Joe smiled and brought her hand up, rubbing at the back of her neck. "Uh... thanks..." she managed, as Reese's flames flickered. He scratched at his cheek and gave an uneasy smile. The way he acted when called upon was truly just an act, and this stranger's praise left his face heated and his mind muddled.

Joe and Reese watched as Shiori sent out his Pokemon, and Joe tisked. She should have chosen Baily. The bird was indeed impressive looking, even if Joe had never seen it before. But Baily's electrical attacks would have fared far better against it than Reese's fire moved. That is until Shiori called the attack.

"Crap! Reese, Eruption!" she shouted heart rate beginning to pick up.

The Typhlosion bared its fangs and let lose explosions that shattered the closest rocks, but he couldn't keep it up for all of them, and he yelped when a few slipped by and smacked him.

"You ok buddy?" she watched as he shook dirt from his pelt and snarled. "Right on! Flamethrower!" she smiled, watching Reese carefully as he retaliated.

The claw shaped pendent that swung freely around his neck caught the sunlight just so, as Reese fell to all fours, the fire on his neck growing in intensity as he opened his jaws and spat fire.

Before C.K. had a chance to dodge, the line of flame from Joe's Typhlosion hit him dead on. Shiori raised an arm to protect his face, as he could feel the intense heat from the attack. The Braviary let out a screech and staggered in mid-air before regaining it's stability. C.K. flew up, letting out a cry and trying to put some more space between itself and the Typhlosion. Huh... that Typhlosion's Flamethrower attack could be a problem... But Shiori had confidence in the toughness of C.K.

"Alright, C.K! Let's go, Rock Slide bombing run!" Shiori directed. C.K. turned in air and flew towards Reese. Once again it's Life Orb necklace glowed purple, but the Braviary was not affected negatively by the item. As the Braviary flew over the Typhlosion, large boulders surrounded in a powerful purple aura appeared and were dropped at the Typhlosion.

“We can do a one on one match. How about that? Gohan is just itching for a fight! Literally..” The small egg continued to punch and push at the Luxio, baring teeth and stomping around. “Stop it, Gohan!” Squash picked up the small Pokemon and his back. He then grinned.

“Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be happy to challenge you.”

“Yeah, a one-on-one match sounds good!” Otis smiled, clutching a pokeball. She looked at Gohan, and Otis started to think of a strategy that would work against it. Otis’ eyes flashed with excitement, and she did a little nod. “Well, I’m ready now.” Determination shined in her eyes, and Otis looked at her pokeball. You can do this . . .

"Reese!" Joe shouted out a warning, watching with wide eyes a Reese danced around a rock, jumped clear of another, then cried out as a boulder slammed into his back, throwing him to the ground. He growled and glanced up, snarling at the bird as he struggled to his back legs. all that training in those caves seemed to be paying off.

Joe glanced up at the bird pokemon, her mind whirling. At this rate eruption would be less powerful, but his other fire type moves would be growing stronger. The more tired Reese became, the harder he tried. Eruption just took to much out of him.

"Alright buddy..." she muttered tracking the bird pokemon's movements. She grinned. "Let's give them something to focus on then!"

Reese let out a cry, collecting a ball of light in front of his mouth, before releasing a flurry of star shaped rays. Swift might not be his strongest move, but it would keep the bird busy, and it never missed. Joe was buying time now, letting Reese store up enough energy to attack with maximum force. One more turn... One more should do it... hopefully...

Shiori smiled, as the Rock Slide bombing run had been a complete success. The Braviary flew around for another run, only for both C.K. and Shiori to see the Typhlosion let loose a flurry of stars straight towards C.K. A Swift attack! C.K. squawked and reflexively maneuvered, letting the stars fly past him. They quickly changed direction, following after the Braviary and going much faster than the hawklike Pokemon. C.K. let out a screech as the Swift attack struck it from behind, and once again was almost knocked out of the air. Shiori winced, but C.K. regained it's stability. That Swift attack definitely hadn't done as much damage as the Flamthrower attack.

That Swift attack had indeed not dealt a lot of damage, but it had wasted the time Shiori and C.K. could've used to set up another bombing run with Rock Slide.
"C.K.! Another Rock Slide, you got this!" Shiori called up to C.K. The Braviary nodded back, summoning some boulders for a third time and flying towards Reese.

Joe smiled, a smirking confident thing as she watched the pokemon dodge the attack. That should keep it busy enough. "Reese now!" she shouted as C.K. was struck.

Reese opened his jaws and let lose a flamethrower, watching as boulders were summoned and rained down on him. Joe's heart leapt as her mind whirled. Would the flamethrower hit before the Rock slide?

“Alright! Let’s do this!” Squash headed out the dome, to the open field before the gates. Gohan finally let go of his arm, which he had been biting on for a while. “Gohan, you can fight now.” The togepi roared, and hopped in front of his trainer.

Otis smiled and followed Squash. Holding a pokeball, she threw it in the air. It opened to reveal a Scolipede. Scolipede looked at her opponent, and growled. “Okay, Scolipede, use VenoShock!” Scolipede nodded and spewed Poison at Gohan.

“Gohan, dodge!” The togepi quickly reacted, closing the spikes on his head, and spinning upside down on the grass. He then bounced up, rubbing his nose and smirking. “Alright! Strike back with a Headbutt!” He then charged straight for the giant bug type, right at the front.

The Flamethrower attack struck C.K. right before he released the Rock Slide, knocking the Braviary out of the sky. The eagle-like Pokemon crashed to the ground, knocked completely unconscious by the fire attack. The purple aura around the boulders faded, and fell right in front of Typhlosion.
"Aw, no way!" Shiori exclaimed, his hands going to his head. Raza shook her head and huffed quietly, and Shiori recalled his Braviary. With a rueful smile, he walked over to Joe and Reese. "Dang, you're pretty good. I can't wait to face you for real in the tournament."
Upon uttering these words, Shiori's eyes widened and he looked over at Raza slightly panicked. Raza looked back at Shiori, a little confused by his panicked expression.
"The tournament! We've been out here for way too long!" Shiori exclaimed. Raza started, and Shiori grabs his luggage bag.
"Uh, thanks for the battle! Good luck in the tournament! See you around!" Shiori exclaimed as the pair quickly ran back inside the building.
