Joe watched the battle unfold with a critical eye, soaking in as much tactic and status as she could read from the trainers and their pokemon. She was a stratigic thinker by heart, always had been, her team well balanced between speed, defense, and brute force, carefully worked to create the strongest powerhouse she could muster of all her friends.
Everly used a potion and she quickly made sure the scowl she felt didn't reach her face for viewing. She hated when trainers used healing machines and berries, always feeling the pokemon's base strength should be the determining factor. However her disapproval quickly vanished as Everly showed her a different way to fight, one she had never seen before. Her pokemon coated itself in fire, and charged, intriguing Joe. When she thought about it, Baily did something similar with a natural move she knew. However using a differing move like that? Joe smiled softly, a bit of a smirk. She'd have to work on that, maybe with Paula...
The battle was over, and Joe smiled, her personality flopping back to openly friendly. She was naturally friendly, and honest, but battles? They brought out a whole different side to her.
She listened to Otis and Everly, a flicker of envy shooting through her. She had lost a few battles in her time, though latter in her career, and to a good friend of hers. She was to focused on them, and it took her a moment to realize she was being spoken too.
"O-oh!" she exclaimed, eyes widening as she stared at Shiori. "Me?" she smiled nervously and lifted her shoulders a little. "Uh... I guess..." she nervously adjusted her ball cap, fidgeting before the confident actor. It had blindsided her, but in hindsight it probably shouldn't have. She was used to confident trainers, and eager battlers, but she was also used to reserved fighters, and had planned to take that stance.
