"Trust me, Gladiator Beast Equeste. I intend on doing so. I equip Gladiator Beast Bestiari with Battle Gladius and end my turn. Show me what you've got, Gladiator Beast Equeste!" Willow returned Equeste's sentiment as her monster was granted a sword. All she needed was a single gladiator beast to go into Gyzarus, and only Laquari would be able to take Bestiari down at the moment by taking itself down too.

Equipping Bestiari with Battle Gladius, a move to be expected. One that certainly made it more difficult for Equeste. Still, the Gladiator Beast smiled. This was battle, what he had trained for!
"I draw!" Equeste exclaimed. "I'll just make this a quick turn, then. I'll summon a Gladiator Beast Sagittarri of my own!"
Placing a card onto the the summoning disk, the other centaur-like Gladiator Beast appeared and reared up, drawing his bow and arrows and readying his weapon.
"Next, I'll set another card face-down. And that will end my turn." Equeste said. A short turn, but there wasn't much he could do now while on the defensive.

Another set card. Willow did not see it to be any trouble, as the last one also was a dud. "I draw, and we both know what this card is. I set one monster facedown and attack you with Bestiari, Updraft Blade!" The Battle Gladius was infused with wind energy as Bestiari attacked Sagittarii with the blade, slashing at its opponent.

"Not so fast! My trap card activates!" Equeste called out as Bestiari charged towards Sagattarii. The face-down card flipped up to reveal a purple trap card, depicting a winged creature being struck by lightning.
"Icarus Attack! This card lets me tribute one Winged Beast monster on my field, then destroy two cards on the field. So I'll tribute Gladiator Beast Sagattarii, and destroy Bestiari and your face-down monster!" Equeste explained. Just like on the trap card, a blast of lightning struck Sagattarii. Two bolts of electricity shot towards Bestiari and Willow's set card, ready to destroy them!

Willow did not expect the trap to be live and had no response as her monsters were struck by lightning, destroying them. "Clever, that explains why you did not use it when I attacked Hoplomus. I set one card and end my turn." The Slifer Red crossed her arms as she awaited Equeste's move. He cleared her field in a single move, this duel was going to be more difficult than she first thought.

"My turn!" Equeste exclaimed, drawing another card. Willow had two face-down cards... Equeste hadn't had the chance to probe Willow's defenses, see what they were like. Only one way to find out...
"I summon Gladiator Beast Lanista!" Equeste declared. On the field, a winged humanoid with a bird's head and green armor appeared. It wielded a red lance, brandishing it at Willow. It's stats read 1800 ATK and 1200 DEF. Equeste pointed to Willow.
"It seems first blood will be mine, Gladiator Beast Tamer! Lanista, attack! Soaring Spear Slash!" Equeste said. The winged Gladiator Beast took to the air, letting out a screech as it swooped towards Willow.

"Hmph...no, nothing can be done." Tobias responded. "The battleground for this theoretical fight lies within Willow...and that relic."

Looking at the rock in question, Tobias couldn't help but feel a sense of concern rising. He hadn't had prolong contact with these things, but since they had a influence in spirits...could Willow he contacting one right now? Then again, that could be a rash assumption. Perhaps Lance would need to be appraised of this...

"Now, Hero kids, combine forces! Triple Threat: Multicolored Madness!!”

Three Hero Kids linked up their hands, forming a triangle of Blue, Green, and Red energies. Then, a flurry of mixed colors lashed out at a poor duelist's field. A Feral Imp, Luster Dragon, and Phantom Dewan were obliterated by the combo attack. The young duelist got teary eyed, sniffling as his field was utterly whipped. They sobbed before just turning around and running away, forfeiting the game in frustration.

"Hahahahaha! Looooooooser!" Weasel called out to him. "Pheeeew! So many weaklings think they can stop me today, pfffft! As if!"

The three hero kids high fived before vanishing off the field. Bix and Braxer grinned in at the display, glad to see Weasel back to his self. Well, mostly that is. Braxer walked up to him, putting his hands on his hips.

"Ha, true that boss. But you don't actually think this will make you feel better from that duel with that girl Bella, right?"

"Oh dear sweet stupid Braxer." Weasel retorted. "I'm not UPSET that wannabe hero won. In fact, it's been rather enlightening."

"Uh...h-how boss?" Bix asked.

"Oh, it just means that I need to twist a few strings and cut a few. But! Make no mistake, if I were using my real deck, it would have been a beating! Ha!"

"Sure..." Braxer chuckled. "No hard feelings there, eh?"

"Yo. Brax. Another word about it and you'll wake up covered in two years old syrup. Picking up what I'm throwing down?"

Willow bared her teeth as Lanista slashed at her, the attack actually hurt as her lifepoints dropped to 2200. A strong opening, but lifepoints were a resource. Her last duel told her that, but she still did not like being behind. The fact that she was blocked out of Gyzarus until she managed to get Bestiari back only made things worse than they already were. "A solid hit, Gladiator Beast Equeste. You managed to get a direct hit in with one of the strongest level 4 Gladiator Beasts, I expected nothing less." Complimenting her opponent, she put two fingers on her deck and closed her eyes for a second. If her deck ever had to pull through for her, it had to be now. Any monster would work, but she had a strong feeling that Equeste would bring out Bestiari to destroy one of her set cards or Laquari to seal the match next turn. "Continue with your turn."

Equeste nodded, gesturing to Gladiator Beast Lanista once again.
"As you know, Lanista shuffles itself back into the deck. Then I can special summon another Gladiator Beast monster. And I'll use it to call upon... myself! I summon Gladiator Beast Equeste!"
Let out a cry, Gladiator Beast Lanista disappeared back to the summoning disk in a burst of light. At the same time, another burst of light leapt from Equeste's summoning disk. Appearing where Lanista once stood, a seeming mirror copy of Gladiator Beast Equeste appeared!
"And because I was special summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast, I can return one of my allies from my graveyard to my hand!" Gladiator Beast Equeste explained. The spirit of Hoplomous rose from the ground, nodding to Willow before vanishing into Gladiator Beast Equeste's hand.

"I'll also activate my trap card! Double Tag Team!" Equeste announced. "Since I special summoned a Gladiator Beast monster, I can special summon a second Gladiator Beast monster, as long as its level 4 or lower. So I'll use it's effect to summon Gladiator Beast Samnite."
With a roar, another Gladiator Beast burst onto the field. This one appeared to be a humanoid saber-toothed lion with black armor, armed with a shield and a sword.

"Now! With two Gladiator Beasts on the field, its time! Gladiator Beast Contact Fusion!" Equeste announced. With a flash of light, the Equeste on the field and the Gladiator Beast Samnite began to merge together. Their skin darkened, their shields, armors, and blades merged together. The light faded, revealing a new Gladiator Beast.
"Rise to the battle, Gladiator Beast Essedarii!" Equeste said. The new Gladiator Beast, looking like a massive gorilla riding a golden chariot, let out a roar. Its stats read 2500 ATK and 1400 DEF.

"And with that, I'll set a card and end my turn. It is your turn, Willow Bretton!" Gladiator Beast Equeste said to Willow.

"My turn, draw!" Willow stared at the field in front of her and forced herself to stay calm. The fact that she was basically facing down a Summoned Skull wasn't lost on her, but she never expected Essedarii to be her opponent. She never bothered with that card as it had no effects that benefitted her, not even the tag-out effect of other fusions save for Heraklinos. Still, it would inflict lethal damage and that blow of Lanista still hurt like hell.

Looking at her newly drawn card, Willow's eyebrows raised. If she, quite literally, played her cards right, she could get rid of Essedarii next turn. It was by no means a graceful plan, but it would have to work. "I end my turn."

That's not all, when Noxious is special summoned by the effect of a Gladiator Beast, that includes itself, I can send one Gladiator Beast monster from my deck to my graveyard. "Thanks, and I mean it thank you for doing all this. Was a bit crazier than I expected but I am glad you took it in stride." Bella smiled back sheepishly at Lance as she seemed to thank him for all he had done to help with this. Between these Raiders and Duel Spirits, her first couple days on campus had been more insane than expected. But she seemed to have a renewed energy for setting this school on the right path, however she had capacity to help with that.

She turned to Goule. "So do I owe you anything for this service? I am grateful for your help, in spite of my earlier reservations..." Bella said as she figured it was the least she could afford the quirky but no less helpful student.

Zack waited for the effect of Blowback Dragon to go off, and it seemed that after his hot streak of luck to start Bob seemed to hit a lull as once more the flips had not gone the way he wanted which forced Bob to declare an attack with the monster instead, and this was enough to cause Zack to smirk. It had been time to test his luck.

"Not so fast there Bobby, I activate my Trap Card Ordeal of the Traveler!" Zack called out, as his face-down card flipped up and soon a holographic projection of a large sphinx seemed to rise behind the young man as a rumble sounded before he settled into place. Once that was done, Zack had taken the two cards in his hand and held one up though with its back facing Bob as if not to give a tell.

"This is simple. You pick one of these two cards in my hand, and declare the type of card you think it is. Monster, Spell or Trap. If you guess right, your attack goes through. Guess wrong? Well your attacking monster returns to your hand." Zack explained, which would put the current attack least for the moment on pause. Since Bob wanted to make this game about luck, Zack figured it was only fair he give it a spin as well.

"Heh...Unless you got the blood a virgin, I think there's not much you can offer." Goule teased.

Bella had taken this spirit thing a lot better than he had anticipated. The last couple he showed had to take a while to recover from the shock. The overly positive types were normally a pain in life, but perhaps this was their saving grace.

"But...I think that concludes our business here. Now if you excuse me, I need to sweep up this mess. The collection of white powder everywhere could be...misinterpreted. Heheh-ACK!"

"You know it! I activate Gladiator Beast Noxious' effect and tag it out for Gladiator Beast Murmillo!" Willow declared as the cheetah leapt back into her deck and was replaced with a card in armor. "I use Murmillo's effect to destroy one of your monsters! Aqua Annihilation, Murmillo! Destroy Essedarii!" The Slifer Red yelled as Murmillo sent a blast of water at the fusion, hoping to destroy it.

----------------------

Bob bit the inside of his cheeck as Zack revealed his set trap, Ordeal of the Traveller. He supposed Slifers were the right people to find cards as janky as that one, though he was no better. He had gamble cards after all. Thinking about what type of cards Zack was holding, traps immediately were the most unlikely. He had open backrow and he knew that he would need some defenses. Spell cards were a bit more likely given they could turn a match around, but the most logical option were monsters. They would stay in his hand until he could summon them, unlike the other cards. "I choose Monster card! Show me if I am correct."

"I-I see uh, t-thanks all the same..."

Bella sweat dropped as Goule explained this and she decided to leave it at that. Really what else could one say to this? He had capacity to speak to Duel Spirits which itself was a lot to accept for the new Obelisk Blue tried her best to take all this in stride. Which had been far easier said than done.

"I'll see you around..." Bella said to Lance and Goule with a wave, before she'd take her exit from the room. Her plan for now? Head to her dorm, so she could write down all the notes she had gotten on Duel Spirits and these Raiders for reference...and maybe try to clear her head a bit as everything she had experienced nearly made her faint.

---------
There seemed to be a bit of a delayed silence as Zack listened to Bob make his choice, though once his answer had left his lips a sly smirk seemed to curl as he flipped his card around. "Sorry, that's a wrong answer, it was a Spell Card!" Zack said as he revealed the card to be "Circle of the Fire Kings" before he flipped it back and shuffled his hand around. "So now Blowback Dragon goes back to your hand, I'd say I'll miss him but I was advised not to lie when I came back~" Zack mused, as he seemed to avoid one bullet for the time being.

Bob clenched his teeth as Blowback Dragon got sent back to his hand. He could try and beat over that set monster again, now that he had a 50/50 to destroy it. However, he could very well be walking straight into another Cataclysmic Sunscorcher, not to mention Backfire would just inflict another 500 burn damage like it did when Flamvell Firedog got destroyed. "I tribute summon Blowback Dragon again, tributing Green Gadget and end my turn." The roar of Blowback Dragon was once again heard as the Green Gadget vanished into a ray of light, bringing out Bob's favorite monster again.

"Thank you, it is a small combo that has saved me plenty of times. Now for my actual turn, I draw!" Willow looked at her card and judged it, it was not half bad. "I normal summon Gladiator Beast Dimacari in attack position!" A bipedal Cape Buffalo was summoned to the field, snorting as it prepared to fight. "I also equip it with Shooting Star Bow - Ceal from the field! This equip spell allows my monster to attack directly in return for lowering its attack points with 1000 points." "A good attempt, but Heplomous' armor is too thick!" Equeste said.

Willow looked at the Hoplomus and frowned, this could get nasty very fast. Her plan was prone to being disrupted by a new Gladiator Beast now. "I activate Dimacari's effect, however your effect will go first if you trigger it. Do you want to tag out?" Hoplomus was a big wall at 2100 defense, but any other card would lead to destruction due to its lower stats. Willow was okay with it tagging out, as long as a certain monster did not hit the field.

So return to the battle, Gladiator Beast Essedarii!" With the rumble of chariot wheels, once again Gladiator Beast Essedarii returned to the field and let out a roar. Equeste grinned.

Willow let out a sigh of relief that Equeste did not go into a card like Murmillo to deny her the tag out. "I also will go into Gladiator Beast Darius, special summoning Gladiator Beast Bestiari from the graveyard!" A gust of wind created a tornado from which Bestiari appeared, though they were not long for this field. Willow envisioned her extra deck cards, Gaiodiaz, Heraklinos, Nerokius and Gyzarus. Three of them were available now, but two had the ability to tag out. Gyzarus would clear the field, but Willow felt quite adventurous and wanted to try out her new toy.

"I contact fusion with three materials! Come on out, my new warrior! Gladiator Beast Nerokius!" Darius, Murmillo and Bestiari were soon swallowed by darkness as the three cards returned to the deck, the darkness spreading as red eyes were seen glaring at Equeste before the darkness dissipated and revealed a large multi-winged bat that let out a high-pitched screech. It was not quite as strong as Heraklinos, but it allowed for more plays later on.

"Alright! Now that is a success in my book! I end my turn, how will you take care of Nerokius? Essedarii will not cut it at its current power, you will need something else." Willow grinned as the large stature of Nerokius stood in front of her. Equeste had no cards in hand and none of his monsters were Winged Beasts, so even an Icarus Attack could not save him.

"Trust me, it will get worse. I activate Nerokius' effect and return it to the extra deck to special summon two Gladiator Beast monsters from my deck." Gladiator Beast Nerokius turned into dark mist as they went back to the extra deck. "I special summon Gladiator Beast Laquari and Darius from my deck, triggering their effects! Zack called out, as the circle of flames seemed to shoot out and consume the Fire Kraken that cried out in pain, and as the flames died down the four-armed Fiend seemed to appear once more as it flashed a grin to Bob and his side of the field.

Cataclysmic Scorching Sunburner
2600 ATK/200 DEF

Bob frowned, so that monster was back again. However, it was not going to burn him since it was not summoned after a FIRE monster was destroyed by battle. Looking at his field, he had 4 ways to get rid of it, though it was very likely that one would be destroyed this turn. Zack only had 1 card in his hand, so he should be okay to destroy it, even with Ordeal of the Traveler.

"Go on."

---------

Willow grinned as Heraklinos destroyed the set monster, clearing Equeste's field.

"I end my turn."

Equeste drew a card from his deck. The Gladiator Beast looked to it for a moment before chuckling.
"You are very skilled, Willow Bretton. Being able to even command the likes of Nerokius, and of Heraklinos? I had no idea." Gladiator Beast Equeste said. "With your skills, I have no doubt you could even give the likes of Octavius a challenge. I myself am not so skilled, but however..."
The Gladiator Beast smiled before placing a hand on his summoning disk.
"I believe I have enough skill to realize when I've been outmatched. I yield, Willow Bretton." Gladiator Beast Equeste said, giving Willow a small bow. By now, most of the duel monsters that had been training in the arena had paused what they were doing to watch the duel between Equeste and Willow.

Willow looked at Equeste like a fish out of water, a forfeit? It made sense, but she did not expect it in the slightest. Heraklinos faded away as the match was over, a victory for the Slifer Red student that she did not expect. "You did well, Gladiator Beast Equeste. You maintained pressure on me and if I did not get Gladiator Beast Noxious, I could very well have lost. I believe that you can reach great heights if you keep training, and you have showed me my own shortcomings in this duel. I thank you for this opportunity." The girl returned the bow to Equeste, smiling at the Gladiator Beast as the adrenaline flowed out of her system.

"With pleasure, I attack Blowback Dragon with Cataclysmic Scorching Sunburner! Cataclysmic Slash!" Zack called out, as he seemed to deem it the biggest threat at the moment as his four-armed FIRE fiend began to heat up its blade as it seemed to be set ablaze, before it charged as he aimed to drive and slash the blade across the chest of Blowback Dragon to slash it to pieces!

Course, Zack knew he had been far from out of the woods, but he had to remove the monster that risked popping a card on his field each turn if he wanted to get back into this.

Blowback Dragon looked back at Bob before it got torn to pieces, whilst the boy merely nodded as his favorite monster got destroyed. "As expected, I really do not want to deal with that thing again, but you can't have everything you want in this world." Fire scorched his face as his lifepoints lowered by 300 to 1250. Zack had hung on longer than expected, but Bob was not out of the races yet. "Continue your turn."

In the arena there was a whoosh of wings as a shadow passed overhead. Gladiator Beast Octavius landed in the stands next to where Willow and Equeste were duel, his arms crossed. He looked over the pair with a stern expression.
"Captain Octavius!" Equeste said, quickly bowing to the fellow Gladiator Beast. The eagle-like beast nodded to Equeste.
"You did well, Equeste." Octavius spoke in a deep voice. He turned his attention to Willow. "As did you, Gladiator Beast Tamer."

His green eyes stared down to the Slifer Red girl, as if trying to look into her soul.
"Who are you, Tamer? What are your intentions?" Octavius asked.
