Alex listened carefully to Ray before responding to his first comment. "Haha, I guess they are advertising it. The flyer at least seemed pretty proud to have you speaking there," he said truthfully, trying to reassure Ray. "As for rehabilitation, I ... do have some knowledge," he explained hesitantly. "Like I said, I'm not as good as my mom, and it won't happen overnight, but I'd absolutely be willing to help. You said it yourself, you have to start somewhere!" Alex thought for a moment. "Some cases were more difficult than others, but we never encountered one we couldn't solve. I can give you a quick rundown of how it works in general if you'd like. Of course, specifics will change per the situation, but the general plan is usually the same."
"What you mentioned about the typical trainer-pokemon relationship is very interesting. I'm glad to hear that those relationships are still fairly sacred, even in the face of darkness. What surprised me was when you said both the trainers and pokemon had 'messed up views of the world'. That tells me that leaving an evil team isn't a transformation on the part of the trainer. What was it like when you switched sides? Did your pokemon simply follow suit or was it more of a collective decision? Or maybe some of your pokemon actually convinced you rather than vice versa?"
