Ask to Join GYM Leader Academy (GLA)

Tsuzuki was the next one to class, he was way earlier than he’d expected to be. “Wait, so we won’t be doing any actual battle training yet? Well... it sucks, but judging by the looks of things we’ll be doing theory first... I need to get better.” He thought to himself as he took a seat diagonally back from the only other person in the class at that moment and laid his things on his desk..

After a few minutes of mindless surveying with no results, Buneary hopped away to look outside. There, it saw two students enter a building that seemed pretty important, so it ran back to it's trainer and nudged it into that direction. "Buneary, you're a genius!" Adrianna remarked, petting Buneary to show her thanks.

Adrianna raced into the building, searching for which classroom she needed to be in. After a few awkward moments running into active sophomore classes, she finally peaked through a window and saw a class with students with matching uniforms to her. "Yes, we found it! This is it, our very first class of gym leader school, here we-" Adrianna rapidly opened the door, making it smack against the wall loudly. "Go!". Adrianna awkwardly looked around to see a couple of students sitting down, getting books ready, and not in fact about to battle. "Oh, it's uh, battle theory huh?" Adrianna asked herself, suddenly feeling awkward at the commotion she created. She quickly returned Aipom to its ball, seeing that it wasn't needed and would likely cause a riot, and she found her way to a seat on the far left with Buneary, who followed Adrianna at a distance to which it hoped nobody could tell it was associated.

"Battle me now."

"No."

"Now?"

"No."

"You're no fun."

"Yeah."

Oblivious to the inner-workings of the academy they'd somehow been accepted to, Seth and Mari kept at it out on the track. Unwilling to battle, Mari set Seth about more exercises. Short distance sprints, jumping jacks, burpees, crunches. The longer they went on, the further from human he felt. And all the while, she kept bothering him to battle. The fearful Fuschia-native did everything he could to avoid her relentless probing.

"Why won't you battle me?"

"Battling's stupid."

"Then why are you here?" Mari switched from disappointed to annoyed real quick.

"Who knows. I was bored. Why do you care?"

"I don't, really."

"Oh."

They went back and forth like that as the clock neared 8 am. They broke to eat and hydrate, then stretched and walked around the track a couple times to stretch their legs, Nidorino and Heracross beside them. Finally, Mari shut up for an extended period of time. Maybe she'd forgotten about battling him, at least for the moment.

"I wonder when classes start," Seth pondered, looking off toward the school. Then he saw people filing in toward the school from the other side, and lights began to flare up in the classrooms. "Wait a minute."

"Are you stupid?" Mari asked. She knew the answer.

They booked it for the school and waited for someone they recognized from the freshmen dorm to pass by, following them to room 201. Sweaty and more than a little confused, the huffing Seth and Mari rushed to the far back left of the classroom and shared sips of Mari's water.

After a bit more of map studying, Vikal was sure he knew where to go and his pokemon were ready to go.
Well, everyone except Voltug, who continued to ravenously absorb electricity. The bug pokemon has been completely impatient when it came to it's evolution, absorbing all kinds of food and electricity in hoped to evolve. He and Vikal knew that was not the intended way, he had to be in a specific place, but Voltug remain unmoving in his hurry to evolve.
Anyway, the time for reminiscing wasn't now. Vikal didn't want them to be late, and bedsides, battling 1 was first, and he couldn't wait. He got off his chair and went over to Jade's room, finding her watching her two sleeping pokemon.
He gave a small grin "Hey Jade? Hate to interrupt this, but we should get a move on. Don't wanna be late for out first day." he spoke quietly, if a little hurriedly.

Alex walked back through the forest. Once he arrived back to the main area he showed a Corviknight his ID. The giant steel bird launched itself into the air flying off into the distance. Alex watched in awe from the carriage as the forest below shrunk and the Corviknight reached the top of the mountain. Descending Alex headed off toward his classroom. Earlier that morning in his spot in the woods he had memorised the timetable and map of the school so he knew exactly where his classroom was. 5 Other kids where already seated around the classroom. Alex took a seat next to the door so that he could be the first one out. Fluffy settled herself on Alex's desk as he sent out Turnip the Morelull and Lilly the Ralts. You guys need to pay attention ok? You'll be the ones battling when we start and I don't wanna embarrass myself. Lilly and Turnip nodded and Alex relaxed a little.

Looking around the room he noticed Azumi, Maker's sister. He then realised he had no idea where Maker could be. He gained a bit of respect for Maker when she never retaliated the night before and would've liked to know where she was. Alex made his way toward Azumi wondering if she new as Turnip and Lilly played together underneath Alex's desk.
"Hi Azumi, do you know where Maker could be, I didn't see her this morning."

Ashley had gotten to the dorm the previous night, and woke up a little late as she had been searching for Sethis, running towards class finding several of her classmates, her Murkrow had popped out of his pokeball and recognized Sethis from yesterday. She returned Murkrow and sat down next to him. She then prepared her notebooks for class, not sure what the day had to offer.

After his coffee break, Smith would return Skarrmory to its pokeball and head to class. Unfortunately though, he didnt get a break from his pokemon, since as soon as his meowth smelled the coffee, she came out of her pokeball and wouldnt leave him alone until he gave her a sip. Giving a pokemon coffee? Probably a bad idea. Giving it to a meowth, especcially one from Galar, is even more so. This is all to simply explain why the tall, wide, ginger came to his first ever class at this new school, wearing the cat like pokemon as a scarf. He would sit near the middle and try in vain to get the pokemon to calm down, even just a litttle bit

As Adrianna sat at her desk, wondering why everyone had so many books for one class, she noticed that one trainer that sat in the middle had a Galarian Meowth on their shoulders, a very restless one at that. Adrianna giggled at the sight, figuring it must have had some form of caffeine, as her Aipom had a similar reaction when it had soda.

Adrianna poked the student to try and get their attention and whispered "Hey pal, I see your Meowth is super hyper, been there! Try giving it this:" Adrianna held out a handful of brown Poke-Treats with an almond aroma. "These are jam-packed full of nuts, which is like opposite caffeine or something like that, I'm no professor. But, I do know that it works!" Adrianna explained, keeping her voice low as to not disrupt the silence by too much. Buneary appeared from under Adrianna's desk and shot its paws in the air and cheered, trying to communicate that "it really does work!", through body language.

Smith would turn towards the girl and take the treat and let out a sort of half laugh/half dejected sigh. "i mean, its worth a shot. She...kinda picks and chooses what she will eat though..." As if to confirm this, the meowth would turn her nose up at the treat, and kind of retreat into the crook between Smiths neck and shoulder. Turns out that the meowth liked being hyper. "Ah its alright, she'll fizzle out in a bit. The joys of bbeing a trainer right?" He would joke. Now Smith wasnt...well he wasnt quiet so any attempt at sublety the girl had tried to have were thrown out the window because of Smiths deep, carrying voice.

“Err... no. I guess I’ll see you later.”
Renz opened the door and walked out. How had he not seen her Meditite before? If he had seen that, surely he would have known. But she didn’t seem a very talkative person, so perhaps it was best to give her space. He let go of this and headed for the base of the falls. He wanted to walk up this first day.
And the walk was worth it. Despite being a little tiring from the uphill slant, the view was amazing. He even paused halfway up just to let out his Pokémon and take in the sight with them. Then they all set off uphill together... or rather, Renz stopped to put Zade on Mudbray’s back and picked up Gible himself, and then they raced. Gible’s legs were too small, and Zade did better with sand than hard stone.
Once at the top, he returned all three to their Pokéballs and entered the school itself. It took him a minute or two to find his classroom, but soon he had taken the seat in the back right corner.

Jackie shrugged. “Eh, we’ll see. Just warn yer Dreepy not to get too close to Rift.” She took one last sip and walked over to the sink. She unscrewed the bottle and rinsed it out, then began filling it up with water. Then she gestured for her Pokémon to hurry up and finish eating so they could leave.

Adrianna let out a few more small laughs at the silly Meowth. Pokemon truly were a marvel. Adrianna already noticed Buneary staring intensely at the treats, so Adrianna dropped a few for Buneary, who ate them swiftly and cleanly. "You said it, well I thought I'd try and help a fellow trainer out, seeing as I've been in similar pickles. The name's Adrianna, and I'm the normal type specialist!" Adrianna remarked, now speaking at a normal talking voice. Buneary jumped onto the desk and let out a sublet cry, emphasising it's proudness in the title.

Azumi was drawing circles on her notebook along with Nana. Hers seemed perfect while Nana's had too many curves for some reason and one had a corner. When Alex walked up to them, Azumi smiled shrugged. "Hi. I'm not sure, I haven't seen her since last night. But she is usually late, either she got lost or is having a conversation with someone. I wouldn't worry. Right Nana?" She asked her Ralts, who replied with a nod and a smile as she bit her cookie again. "Besides, you two didn't seemed to get along, I'm glad you made up, you're stuck together for an entire year."

Mr. Godspeed entered the room. "Good morning!" He said out loud. "Don't panico, we still got five minutos! I'm practicing my Spanish. How's everyone doing?"

"You're not interrupting anything, but you're right," Jade agreed, turning to look at Vikal. Then, she turned back to her Pokémon and held out Ralts's Poké Ball. "Ralts, return. And Hatenna, wake up. Or... never mind. Just sleep on my head." She rolled her eyes, but looked visibly amused as she placed Hatenna on her head. Jade stood up and placed two fists on her hips. "All right! I'm ready now!" she exclaimed, determined. "This'll be a great first day, let's go!"
At that, Hatenna woke up, chiming in with a cheerful, "Hatenna!"

Alex returned to his seat. He didn't know if he'd 'made up' with Maker, in fact he knew he hadn't. Returning to his desk he wondered if he should or even how he could.
"What do you guys think?" Alex asked his Pokémon. "Should I make up with Maker?" Fluffy (The Eevee) didn't answer as she was sleeping, Turnip (The Morelull) tilted its head to the side obviously confused, Lilly (The Ralts) however nodded showing she thought Alex should make up. Alex racked his brain for a way to apologise and make peace as the teacher, Mr Goodspeed, entered. Alex thought to the night before and remembered the pizza. He could buy a new one but he didn't have any money at all. Eventually he decided he'd make one using whatever was in the fridge, hopefully it was edible.

Adrianna looked up from her conversation to see Mr. Godspeed entering the class and greeting everyone. It was at this moment Adrianna realized that all the buildup over the last few months would start paying off right here.Adrianna looked at Buneary nervously, but once it saw a professor walk in it already knew to go back under the desk, as to not cause a distraction. Adrianna fished out a neon green notebook from her bag, and a yellow Sitrus berry themed pencil, and then sat straight. “Morning Mr. Godspeed!” Adrianna blurted out, not immediately realizing it was most likely a rhetorical question not meant to genuinely be answered. Buneary lost the confidence it had in it’s title in an instant.

Almost falling asleep when the oddly familiar girl say next to him, Sethis was rocked awake by the arrival of the loud Mr. Godspeed, and the louder girl returning his excitement in kind. If only he could find himself able to get that excited about anything...instead, Seth stayed silent, wishing he were back in bed.

Mari, though unresponsive to the teacher's bubbling enthusiasm for a new day, sat upright in her chair, hands folded on the desk. Sat next to Seth, the two looked like poster-children for how to spot troubling behavior in the classroom; what with the young boy slouching, eyes half closed, the young girl smiling and looking ahead.

An odd pair indeed.

Pearl glanced at the time and panicked. Class was about to start! She returned all her Pokemon and rushed out the door. To be tardy, on the first day! She was on the verge of tears as she felt them wield up. Being late ment a punishment, and she was already on the Verge of being kicked out due to her poor battling skills. The wind whistled in her ears, the water-trainer out of breath when she reached the school building. But she wasn't at her class yet. She sped walked the rest of the way, coming up to her class. She gulped when she saw the teacher and tried to sneak her way to a seat, as she thought she was late.
***
Dai Lin placed her book in her bag and walked to the school building. She had enough time. She knew if she left at that exact moment, she wasn't going to be late. After all it wasn't going to take too long if she remained calm. She walked into the classroom and sat down, getting a school book for a different class out and read that to study. After all, if she was going to succeed, she needed to live for the school. This was her life. Friends were just going to drag her behind and she didn't want that. She glanced at Bob before looking down at her book again.

Hunter looked at his watch and realised that they started in five minutes, so he got up quickly and left for class. After having walked around for about three minutes he arrived at room 201, so he opened the door and entered. He saw many students, including Soloman.
"Wait, when did he leave the dorm?" Hunter walked over to the closest table and took a seat, however, he was very distracted and came back to reality first when he heard Mr. Godspeeds voice. He let Monferno out of his Pokéball, and put his hair up in a man bun. It fitted his style, with him being a fighting type trainer, but he usually didn't have it in that way.

Vikal gave a grin, more genuine this time "Cool, let's go." and he went out the door.
Eventually he made it to the classroom, and predictably, some students were already there.
Vikal went ahead a took a seat, somewhere around the back, and returned all of his pokemon, except Schtocky.
Vikal then sighed and leaned on his arm, already looking bored despite walking in ten seconds ago. Schtocky sat down, mirroring his movements.

Jade followed, Hatenna sitting on her head. For once, the small Pokémon wasn't sleeping, and as Jade arrived in the classroom, she took a seat close to the back, not liking sitting at the front or anything. "Hatenna, this is going to be a great day!" she whispered to her Pokémon, then looked to the front of the room and at the teacher. She bumped her toes on the floor in quiet excitement, hoping that nobody would hear her. Jade looked around at all the students. Some looked intimidating, while others looked more friendly. I hope I make lots of friends here! I'm so excited to meet everyone, she thought. I wonder if the teacher will have us all introduce ourselves to the class! What will I say...? So while Jade waited for the teacher to start speaking, she thought about what she'd say about herself if they were all going to introduce themselves.

Daniel shrugged back as Dreepy tilted her head in curiosity when she heard her name get mentioned. "Alright guys." Daniel said to his Pokemon. "Finish up soon so we can go and get our lessons over with." He said while his Dusclops and Golett finished their food while Dreepy also finished, but licked the bowl to still taste the food, Daniel sighed with a smile as he got out his three Poke balls. "Alright, time to return." Daniel said as his Poke balls shot red beams at the Pokemon who suddenly disappeared in to them, he put his Poke balls in his trouser pockets and began to walk to the door, he left it open in case Jackie was ready to leave. "After you." Daniel said half jokingly.

Jackie shrugged, got up, and walked out the door, all three of her Pokemon following behind. Vullaby was surprisingly quick, and able to keep up with the others quite well. Her shell was too thick and heavy for her to fly well, but she was still able to use her legs to good effect and was able to flap her wings and catch up if she fell too far behind. Rift and Shred followed at a regular pace as they tagged along behind Jackie, all the way out of the ‘Filter’ dorms.

As Alex waited for the teacher to start the lesson he looked through his bag. He grabbed out his pencil case and a notebook, but as he grabbed the items out he noticed a small shining object at the bottom. He grabbed it out and inspected it. It was a badge shaped like a heart, a straight line cut it in half down the middle, the left side was pink and the right side was white. He thought back to the day he got it, 3 days before leaving for the academy.

**The passage you are about to read contains profanity and adult themes such as alcohol and mild romantic themes. You have been warned**

4 days earlier

Alex walked through the door of Rachel's house. Damon the Oranguru hassled Alex about his muddy shoes. He wiped them across the welcome carpet and made his way through the crowds of people. The party was for him but most people where just there for a free drink and to socialise. He made his way to the living room where he saw a table with beer and soft drink on it. No-one there was allowed to drink but they wouldn't get caught if the kept it low-key.
From across the room Alex spied his ex David. They had broken up a while back when David was caught cheating on him at Rachels birthday party, The whole event was ruined so as a result Rachel wanted to make this party special. David wandered over to Alex he had had a bit to drink and he slurred his words slightly as he talked.
"Hey baby." David slurred as he slid his arm round Alex's back."Wanna get outa here? Have some fun?" Alex batted his arm away.
"Fuck off David." David took the hint and backed off. Fluffy (The Eevee) growled as David left the room.
"Alex, you've arrived." Alex turned to see his friends Andy and Rachel. Andy was stocky and on the shorter side, he wore his signature hoodie and tracksuit but Alex spotted the collar of a checkered shirt underneath his hoodie, this showed that Andy had dressed up for the party. Rachel Was average height and slightly overweight, she wore a small purple dress and looked a bit out of place.
"Looks like you're the only one who dressed up." Alex joked.
"Yeah I know its kinda embracing." Rachel said.
"Wanna drink?" Andy said as he passed the beer over. Alex accepted the drink but didn't open it immediately. Alex didn't enjoy the taste of alcohol and only sipped it over time.
"C'mon over here." Rachel said. "Ive got you a present" Alex followed Rachel to the side of he room where she picked up a small box with a ribbon over the top. Alex opened the box and inside were 2 nearly identical badges. They were shaped like a heart with a straight line down the middle, one side was pink and the other white. The only different was which way the colours were. Alex picked it up and pinned it to his shirt.
"Thanks." Alex smiled as he and Rachel hugged.

Now

Alex pinned the badge to his uniform and got his things in order before paying his attention back to the teacher.

"Names Smith, and Im good with steel types. l feel the best offense is a great def..." Smith was interupted by the teacher walking into class and turned away from the girl. Not at all to be rude but he came here to learn to be the best and he wasnt about to risk that on the first day by something as simple as talking out of place. He was kind of reliant on this trainer thing working out for him, as the alternative was to work in the metalshop with his dad, which while having good pay, wasnt exactly....fun...or at all how Smith wanted to spend his life. He had huge respect for metalworkers but he could never see himself as one, despite having gone to his Dad's shop on multiple ocasions. Failed attempts of recruitment. Smith shook his head back to focus. He couldnt afford to drift off into thought. Not today. And probably not for quite some time.

Maker finally reached the classroom, just one minute before class began. She looked around for a spot to sit and figured near Alex was a bad idea, so she sat next to the girl with the Bunneary. Eve sat down and began grooming herself as she sat under Maker's desk.
Azumi looked over at her sister and waved at her along with Nana. Maker waved back with a fake smile and then slouched on her sir.

"Alright is that everyone?" Mr. Godspeed said as he stood in front of the room. "Welcome! I'm glad to see you all again, I hope you all settled in and had no trouble, made new friends and got to know our little community. I will be in charge of battles, strategies, theory and some practice every now and then. Now before we start, there is something important I have to share with you all. You're not the only freshman group, you're group B, we got three more with different schedules, you've might have seen them on the tour yesterday. Also, clubs. Clubs are important and in order to move on to be a sophomore, you HAVE to take part at least in one. If you wish to make your own, that is if it doesn't exist already, you can just talk to me about it, since I will be the tutor for this group. Anyways, during lunch there will be Club presidents and vice presidents recruiting members, if you're not sure what to join, I would suggest you look around. Anyways, you're homework has been uploaded to the school platform. Log in through the school homepage, go to classroom and you will find it there." He took a deep breath and smiled. "Okay now that that's out of the way, oh one more thing, if you need to step out, just go, we aren't babysitters it's your grade, not ours. Now! Who can tell me what to do against an opponent who has used trick room and is slower then you?"

“Clubs huh? Guess it’d be a good idea to join one. Not sure particularly what I’d be looking for in one though...” Tsuzuki thought, though his thinking was cut short by Mr. Godspeeds question. He raised his hand before speaking up. “Priority moves? Moves like Quick Attack, Shadow Sneak and Extreme Speed to counter the trick rooms effects.” He suggested, feeling satisfied with his answer hoping he was correct.

"Oh I know!" Adrianna called out, while at the very same time raising her hand. Adrianna remembered watching a ton of matches on TV with Aipom, so she had experience dealing with a variety of different moves and tactics. "When you're opponent sets up a trick room, you should take the opportunity to use curse, well if you're not a ghost that is. That way, you can not only become even stronger and tougher than your opponent, but you can also play use their trick room to your advantage since curse will make you slower than your foe! I know a lot of Pokemon get that move, so it's a good thing to remember if you ever find yourself in that specific pickle!" Adrianna answered confidently, knowing this same tactic worked against a Reuniclus that used trick room on the battling channel.

Drake thought about the question carefully. He raised his hand and said. “When your opponent uses Trick Room. You want to use a slow Pokémon so that you will be faster than the person using the move. For example, a Spritzee that uses Trick Room against a Duraludon would make the Spritzee slower than the Duraludon, making the Duraludon faster and it could pull out a win.”

Vikal listened to the others speak, deep in thought, but not really confident enough to give his own answer. After a couple comments, he decide he may as well respond.
"I suppose there are many ways around it. Switching would be efficient, but would also be very match-dependant. The slower pokemon could very well have a type disadvantage. Cursing certainly is an option, and a pretty good one at that, but Trick room doesn't last forever, and once it wears off you'll be left in a pretty bad position, at least in terms of speed. Of course, there's also the option of ending it forcefully it out with your own Trick room. Priority seems like the best idea, as it bypasses Trick room's effect. Finally, you can simply ride it out. If they're using Trick room, they're at least somewhat dependent on it, and once it ends, they'll be at a disadvantage. You have a chance to hit them with a counterattack, or prevent them from using it again, such as with taunt."
He realized his answer was getting lengthy, and sunk a little in his chair, slightly embarrassed.

"I wouldn't even let the trick room hit me." Alex said raising his hand. "It will most likely go last so if you flinch, paralyse, 1 hit K.O. or send The Pokemon to sleep then trick room probably won't work. Thats why speed is still wanted at a higher level because if you bypass the move it doesn't work." Alex was satisfied with his answer, he wasn't sure if that was the correct one but didn't really care.

Ashley had been taking notes throughout class, noting what each classmate said. Her Braviary had been perched on her desk, watching with the eyes of a hawk. She looked up every so often, like when a different person spoke, she didn't really have anything to say, especially since one time, she was in a double battle training with her father, and he used Trick room with a Shuckle. That battle was like watching her Pokemon get struck by lightning. She shuddered at the memory, and got back to note taking.

Somewhat overwhelmed by the information that was being thrown around, Mari slumped back in her chair and tried to take in all the information she could. But when she looked to Seth, he seemed to be deep in thought, not lost like she was. Mari wasn't much of a battle strategist. She fought, she survived; those were completely different things. The idea of grades and joining clubs and trick rooms had the wires of her brain crossed.

Seth, meanwhile, took some time to contemplate his answer. Other students spoke up quick, but he had no desire to be fast, or even right. He felt Mari looking over to him, but didn't break his concentration. Finally, he let his hand reach into the air, to its peak, for the room to be quiet of his peers before saying: "Being I specialize in poison types, we don't tend to be the fastest or the hardest hitters anyway. Stick to our game plan. Toxic spikes, smokescreens, acid armors and sprays. If we haven't taken the pokemon out before trick room wears off, it should be poisoned and in a weakened state - should things go according to plan."

Feeling satisfied with his answer, Seth turned to Mari with a grin, who had returned his look with a blank gaze. Suddenly he felt sorry, and lost his smug smile, looking back to the front of the classroom with a scratch to the back of his head.

Renz thought about the questions. All the others had said the good strategies he knew of, and none of his Pokemon were particularly good at dealing with Trick Room. Mudbray actually benefitted from it, since she was rather slow, but in general his team didn't have much against Trick Room users. He thought about saying as much, but he decided it was probably unnecessary. But he did have another idea...
"I don't have many strategies against Trick Room, but I heard that some people use Speed boosting moves while Trick Room is active and if they survive they are able to outspeed the opponent and finish it off before activating Trick Room again. With my team, though, I'd just have to take the hits and fire back. Even if I can't outspeed them anymore, I can still try to break through."
It was at about this point that Jackie casually strolled into the classroom with all three of her Pokemon following. She slipped into an empty seat and looked at Mr. Godspeed. She suspected he would comment on her lateness, but she wanted to see what he would say.

Alex paid attention to the other's answers. He took notes on all those that seemed too give answers. Adrianna, Drake, Vikal, Ashley, Seth, Renz. He sorted them into a list titled Knowledgeable. He did this to distinguish the people who could be difficult to beat in the finals from the ones doomed to failure. It was only one question so he quickly wrote down a points system to see which were better than others. Answering a question gave each person only 1 point whereas beating someone else in a Pokémon battle would get them 10. He would take notes on what happened during class and that afternoon he would tally the points up and see who could be a threat.

He suspecting Dai Lin to come out on top as she seemed to always have a study book in her hands. Seth was patient and gave a good response and Vikal's was in depth so he gave them each an extra point. Maker got -1 for being late but maybe Alex just wanted her to fail. He remembered he had to make it up to her that afternoon but how could Alex make an entire pizza without Maker noticing when they shared a dorm together. As Alex thought Turnip (The Morelull) snuck out from under Alex's desk and waddled down the aisle, apparently she didn't know how to pay attention.

"Great answers everyone. Those are all great and logical ways to take on a Trick Room user, but being a great trainer also includes thinking outside the box and pushing logic to its limits. So if you ever want to be a great GYM leader, well you gotta learn to be a great trainer and that is exactly what..." Mr. Godspeed stopped and looked confused as he looked at Maker. "Miss, you okay?"
Maker was slouching in her seat, starring out the window. Apparently she didn't notice the teacher calling her. Mr. Godspeed chuckled and continued. "Anyways, that is what we will learn, to be great trainers. Now I believe you all have something to write with, right? I want you to analyze your own team, just the ones that match the type you have chosen of course, and place down their weaknesses and strengths. After that we will go over as many as we can. You gotta know yourself before knowing your opponents."
The class went on with Mr. Godspeed going over types advantages and leaving an essay for homework on the advantages of each individual's team. The bell soon rang and the students were given 30 minutes before the next class. Azumi sighed as she placed away her notebook in her bag. She had avoided answering anything during class, to try and learn more by listening to others.
Maker on the other hand had fallen asleep and was awaken by the bell. She stretched as she got up and walked out of the classroom. "Finally! I wonder when the real challenge will begin?" She said as she leaned against a wall. "Everyone so eager to answer easy questions, pfff."

Daniel sat silently at his desk and rested his head on one of his hands, although it didn't look like it, he did indeed listen carefully to what happened along with what would happen if someone were to use Trick Room. Daniel likely would have picked something other than Curse due to the fact his team consisted of Ghost types, when he was told to get out a pen or pencil to write stuff down, he did just that and tapped the end of his pen against his chin. He focused on his writing, although with his constant ponders and pencil fiddling, it seemed like there was a thing or two he still could have added--type match ups along with their strengths and weaknesses wasn't to much of a problem though.

When the bell finally rang, Daniel smiled as he put his pen away and picked up his bag. He wasted no time leaving the classroom as he looked around at everyone else. "This already feels like it may be a challenge... but I suppose being a Gym Leader can't be that easy." Daniel unintentionally muttered to himself.

While Jade had been taking notes and writing down what the others had been saying too, she felt a little intimidated as she left for the break, placing Hatenna back onto her head. I've never even thought about battling before! How am I even going to deal with this class? Jade thought anxiously. I wonder what the next class will be - and I hope I'll do better than in the last one... Hatenna seemed to notice her trainer's anxiety and patted Jade's head with a tiny arm. Jade giggled and petted Hatenna appreciatively. "Thanks, Hatenna - I know I can count on you." She looked out of the window, leaning on the sill while thinking hard.

Renz got up and stretched. The whole Type Advantages part of the class had been a breeze for him, he had had those down for years. The essay didn’t seem particularly daunting to him either, but he supposed that since it was the first day classes were a bit easier. And to be fair, he had forgotten that Fire types resisted Fairy type moves, and the essay might take him a while since he wanted to be thorough. He had 30 minutes before the next class, so he took a look at his schedule and his map, figured out where he had to go to get to his next class, and set to work on his essay. Back home he probably would have hung out with friends at least part of the time, but so far he didn’t really have any here. His pencil scratched along that paper as he wrote down his Pokémon, their types, their weaknesses and resistances, and some of their notable individual skills. After a while, though, he stopped and decided to finish later, and walked in the direction of his next class. He didn’t want to be so caught up in a paragaraph that he missed the time and was late to class. Besides, there was still a chance to make friends, even if his roommate was a tough nut.

Jackie was a little surprised that Mr Godspeed hadn’t commented on her tardiness, but she supposed he was just being lenient since it was the first day. Once class was over she went out into the hall and got something out of her pocket. She had been chewing gum throughout class, but it had lost its flavor and now she wanted more. Her three Pokémon hadn’t liked it in the classroom, since it was rather too crowded for their tastes, so Rift and Pluck had been returned and Shred stayed out. Now the Sneasel stayed near Jackie’s feet as the later walked down the hallway, chewing gum and wandering around to get a look at things.

An essay on my team's strengths and weaknesses? Well, since all my pokemon are normal, my rules are pretty simple: Don't fight the fighting, ghosts are mutual buds, and rock and steel don't wanna hear us. Adrianna looked down at her paper, and the few sentences she had written. Well, an essay's probably longer than that! I'll work on it later. Adrianna started doodling a bunch of the Pokemon she saw on a fresh piece of paper. There was a Hatenna chilling out on a girl's head, two sperate Ralts', and even a Braviary! Adrianna drew all of them, as she thought it'd be a good way of remembering the people around her.
