As she followed Dom into the mountains, June began to tire; she wasn’t well conditioned to moving through uneven terrain, constantly climbing over rocks and ducking under tree branches. She turned to see if her Durant was doing any better, and was dismayed to find that the Pokemon was missing. ”What the…?” June muttered as she looked around frantically, before finally managing to spot her partner not far down the path.
The Durant appeared to have been caught in some sort of spider web. June, relieved, went to help unstick her. “I guess this is an occupational hazard of having a Pokemon thats practically blind, huh?“ she said. “And silent too.” She turned back to see if Dom had noticed her predicament yet, but found that he was already gone; she would have to run to catch up once she finished freeing Durant. As she tugged, however, June realised that her Pokemon was really stuck, so she drew Durant’s Pokeball to try and recall her. Suddenly, she was blown back by a powerful attack.
June quickly scrambled to her feet and realised, with horror, that the Pokemon that likely built the web Durant was trapped in had returned. She watched helplessly as the Ariados reared up and brandished its fangs, which glowed a malicious purple, before bringing them down onto Durant…and sliding off harmlessly. The situation would have been funny if the Ariados didn’t immediately turn its focus on to the softer bodied and non-Steel type June. June tried to back away from the Pokemon, but Ariados simply cut to the chase, pouncing at her the moment its feet left the web. Thinking fast, June pulled an empty Pokeball from her belt and attempted to block the attack—a maneuver that miraculously succeeded. The Pokeball hit the ground shaking as the Ariados struggled to break free, and June immediately kicked it away before the Pokemon could escape. She scooped up Durants Pokeball, which she had dropped when the Ariados knocked her back, and recalled her Pokemon.
“Well, that was fun,” June said breathlessly, releasing Durant back out of her Pokeball. “Now, help track Dom for me will ya?” Durant, a little shocked from the experience herself, dutifully obliged, bringing her antennae to the ground and following the scent trail Dom left behind. It wasn’t long before June managed to spot her companion, who was now on the way back with his Electabuzz by his side. “Well, how was training? I’m walking in front next time, by the way.”
