Ask to Join Naruto: Shinobi’s Dawn (Discussion)

Ranger's char was rejected and he hasn't fixed the problems yet and Koop's char is...? I'm not too sure how that's coming along.

I'll probably make a second character to fill in for Kumo later on though.
Koop said he's still working on the Kumo character last I checked on him. It doesn't seem like Ranger is gonna fix his OC so that should still be one slot open in Kumo.

So since I’ve just been replaced... any chance I could adapt Nue so he’s already a chunin for the sound and he’ll just come during the attack?
@Mystic Zander

Regarding my last post, and the arrival of Mitarashi Anko!

The Death-warrants are pinned to your desk with kunai, that was the 'chorus of thuds' that I alluded to in the earlier section of the post. Pull up your pants and tighten your girdles boys and girls, next stop...

Here’s my second attempt at coming up with a character, hopefully this one doesn’t get replaced cause I’m running out of ideas xD. Just to put this out there, this character does have a Kekkei Tota. I’ve talked this over with a few people and nobody seems to have a problem with it so far after I explained what it entailed. If anyone has any concerns about it after reading the bio I’d be happy to talk it out and adjust accordingly!

Name: Keba Chikuwa
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Nationality: Kumogakure
Ninja Rank: Genin

Chakra Nature:
Water/Wind/Lightning
Kekkei Tota: Cloud Release- Water, Wind, and Lightning release.
The user is given the ability to create electrically charged clouds which leads to a wide array of applications. The capabilities of the clouds scale to the user’s strength so it is not an inherently powerful ability. For example, about all Keba can do for now is generate small clouds and move them with wind, basically allowing him to run in the air. Passing a metallic object through a cloud would charge it with electricity and increase its capabilities. The clouds are also capable of shooting water bullets and small zaps of lightning, though they would understandably disappear after extended usage. An expert application for Keba would include creating a large thundercloud to engulf the battlefield and utilize the electricity with his swords to increase their power and speed and generate electric slashes.

Hiden (If Applicable): N/A

I know this isn’t a required category but it felt relevant to his character. Anyways, here’s the basics of his signature sword style where Keba uses any number of his four blades in a variety of ways in order to increase his versatility.

Standard Form

He typically wields two blades in reverse grip while the others are thrown like boomerangs (though he’ll occasionally throw more than two at once). This allows him to trap opponents as his combat relies heavily on overwhelming opponents from all angles in order to make up for his lack of raw strength.

Throwing Path

Double-Double Blades: He has the ability to connect the hilts of two swords to create double sided swords. This style decreases the versatility he has in his standard form but makes up for it with increased power when thrown.

The sword-shuriken: Throwing power can be increased even further by connecting the hilts of all four blades to create a shuriken-like weapon, though this leaves him without a weapon to hold.

Melee Path

Twin joint blades: He can connect the tip of one sword to the hilt of the other in order to create long swords with a joint in the middle, allowing for greater versatility in close combat but decreases his throwing ability.

The Sword-Whip: All four swords are connected blade to hilt, allowing for greatly increased melee range and power in exchange for throwing ability and an increased lag time before and after each attack.

Appearance:
From just a glance, it’s apparent that Keba is a lazy and rebellious child who does not hold a single care in the world. His slate gray hair is messily pulled back into a rather spiky topknot while a few rebellious strands drift over the badge of his white Kumogakure headband and fall above Keba’s contrasting dark skin. Pointed eyebrows the same color as his hair frame the top of his sharp amber eyes while his cheekbones bare small zigzag markings just below. His round face is adorned various scars, including a cut that comes out of his signature smirk, a diagonal slash along the arch of his button nose, and a circular gash that creeps out from under the left side of his headband.

His typical attire consists of the a loose fitting navy long sleeve shirt over a black tee and the standard one strapped flak jacket of Kumogakure worn over it. The sleeves are pulled up to a little below his elbows that are adorned with circular elbow guards, the one on the left is silver while the one on the right is bronze. He wears loose black pants with silver circular knee guards that are tightened at the bottom by wrappings that lead into his black boots. On his waist there is a white sash that is slightly covered by the baggy bottoms of his shirt. Four identical Kodachi swords, each with a sage green wrap around the hilt, a rosewood scabbard, and no hand guard, are tucked into the sash with two on each side. He also has fingerless gloves with silver metal plates on the backhand with which he almost constantly is holding a fruit to snack on.
As previously stated, Keba is a boy who lives without a care. This is largely due to the fact that his entire existence is greatly considered wasted potential and so he is not particularly inspired to try to achieve anything. By coupling up one of their best users of storm release and one of their finest wind natured shinobi, Kumogakure had high hopes that the child would grow into one of the greatest warriors the village had ever produced. Instead, they were given an unambitious child whose fabled Kekkei Tota seemed to be little more useful than a party trick. Humiliated by the shame brought to his family by his son’s disappointing ability, Keba’s father was determined to force his son into becoming a great shinobi in order to restore honor to his name. Unfortunately for the man, no matter how many times he tortured, cut, and abused his guiltless child, Keba’s sense of humor and carefree nature were unable to be beaten out of him, so his father eventually gave up and disowned the boy.

Keba was unbothered by the events though, and actually enjoyed his free lifestyle in which he would waste away his days sleeping in the clouds and flunking school without consequence despite possibly being the most naturally intelligent student in the building. There was something endearing about his carefree nature as if people envied his ability to let any troubles or hardships blow past him like the wind and live without worries and burdens. His infectious personality sustained his lifestyle through the numerous friends he had charmed. There was a person in every corner of the village that would offer meals or a place to spend the night.

This continued on for years, but often as boys mature and grow, so does their interest in females. Keba was yet another victim of this trend which ultimately led to a turning point in his life. One day, Keba crossed paths with an older female jonin who had just returned from a mission. As many women do in the world of naruto, she had quite large...... assets. Keba was immediately smitten, and began his efforts to earn her favor. However, he would soon suffer the worst rejection of his life as his boyish charm had no effect on the girl and she merely laughed at him, pointing out that his entire life had been a complete failure and thinking someone like him had a chance with her showed how dumb he really was. She then went on to explain that women are only attracted to men they can respect and she doubted he could even swing a sword.

For the first time in his life Keba had resolve. He knew if he could gain the reputation of a great shinobi his life would be filled with women like the one from that day. He elevated from putting no effort into his studies to putting in the minimal amount of effort required to excel. After school he would hide in the clouds and watching the greatest shinobi in his village train and then go on to workout late into the night.

After observing Killer B’s unique sword style, Keba was determined to invent his own that would set him apart and therefore make him stand out to girls. He was reminded of his father’s great sword that had been passed down from generation to generation in their clan and most recently used to give Keba the scar across his nose. That night, Keba stole the family heirloom and rationalized his crime by figuring the sword was meant to be passed onto him once he became a shinobi anyways. He then brought it to a sword smith, and sense he was unable to go to a very good one out of fear of being caught, the blade broke into four pieces as it was being reworked; however, it was a blessing in disguise as it led to the development of his signature sword style.

Keba’s father was enraged after he discovered his prized sword had been stolen and set out with a vengeance to find the thief. In order to avoid his wrath, Keba fled high to the clouds but a powerful storm rolled in and blew Keba far away until he landed on a snow capped mountain in the frost village of Shimogakure. Though the village was poor and small, Keba awoke to a kind, albeit scraggly, group of shinobi tending to Keba and offering him what little food they had as he recovered from his rough journey. It was a nice change to be regarded as a unique and special shinobi rather than a disappointment. The genuinely kind people and a blossoming crush on the village leaders daughter inspired Keba to stay and make the village his home, hoping to one day become a shinobi great enough to repay his debt to Shimogakure by putting it on the map and possibly winning the affections of the girl.
Clan History (If Applicable): There’s not much. As previously stated, his family had a great sword that was passed down, but I’m not particularly well versed in the powers of different swords so that is something to be discussed.

After discussion. Tentatively accepted.

A few notes though, until further notice:

1. No Kiba Blades
2. No Soaring Weaknessless Swords

You can fill out your stats with the same +5 bonus as kekkei genkai for now, if we decide to change that we'll notify you.

Zand should be around later on to add his piece as well.

Let’s try and get plenty of posts rolling out when possible.

Early game is the best time to establish those small personal details.

~~~
@Mango137 I’m trusting you to do some research into the abilities you’ve chosen and formulate a more elaborate backstory over time.
Remember, your ability is rare, but doesn’t guarantee a path to power. Let’s see some struggle.
As Kyuu said, accepted.
Thanks again! I’ll definitely work on the backstory and I promise he’ll struggle as much if not more than everyone else xD.
By the way, isn't glass already crystal? Just asking because if that's the case, I won't even need to use any chakra to crystalize them.
"Glass can not be classified as a crystal when it is in its amorphous phase. That means that the silicon dioxide will not be organized at long molecular ranges. It will be a mess. A random mess, thus amorphous. That is the glass we usually make windows and glasses out of."
"However, given the right conditions and the correct additives, glass can be crystallized. That means that the molecules that compose glass itself will be aligned and organized at long molecular ranges."
I see, well I guess I wouldn't mind pumping some chakra into them to make crystals. Itll definitely be more cost effective than making my own.
I'm not sure why people are so eager to sass the only proctor known for attacking the examinees, but if that's what you want then I'll oblige u_u
Koichi is sassy by nature in his efforts to play it cool and show it off, for better & for worse XD.
Guess I have to put out a justification for Garu now xD. His reasoning for the sass was A. Because he believes that shinobi should be professional and stray away from needless flashiness and B. Because I wanted to allow him to find his footing since he seems to be one of the weaker characters in terms of precense. I could be wrong though.
Anko's a bit of an odd-ball, she's noted as being similar to Naruto, which is kinda loud and brash. Stealth only really matters in stealth missions though.
Speaking of missions, we definitely need to crunch some missions for later on. Since we don't want every arc to be a massive war/invasion or what-not, we need to set up a collection of smaller missions and side-events. Suggestions are welcomed.
I’d say Garu has quite a bit of presence already. He seems to be one the most outspoken at least. Walked up to someone he basically didn’t know to try and converse with them. He also confidently spoke his thoughts to the proctor. So far, most of the other characters have kept to themselves and haven’t really done anything too interesting.
So I was theory crafting some concepts related to the Kyoyakishi clan(Crystal Release users) and I wanted to get y'all's input on them, whether it's in the form of approval or suggestions.
Concept 1: Official Kyoyakishi Brand Jewelry
Not only is this a logical expansion of crystal release, but high quality jewelry is a luxury item that no other village(that I know of) has easy access to. Implementing this feature would allow Iwa to have a unique trading resource with other villages and possibly improve it's economy on a global level.
Concept 2: Crystalized Drugs
Given that there's a medical field of Crystal Release users and since medication is a type of drug, it makes sense that other, more recreational drugs can be made with crystal release as well(primarily ninja meth). Implementing this feature would allow for the creation of a Drug Trade, giving the Kyoyakishi clan another source of income that serves as a shadier foil to the Kyoyakishi Jewelery Brand.
Ninja meth? Oh boy!
Can we make that term canon?
I'm down if everyone else is lmao.
Stimulant trade is pretty heavily regulated, so the Clan would definitely want to be on the down-low about it. Would definitely need to run some smuggling operations or something.
Well it is a shady line of work so smuggling operations are prerequisite, as well as keeping it a secret. However, I'm not sure how the higher ups would want to deal with it, if at all.
I think it's up for debate. The Tsuchikage is known for employing some pretty shady methods, so I actually doubt he'd stop them. As long as they weren't getting other Iwa-shinobi addicted he might not care.
The other villages would try to shut it down though, so it would need to be smuggled into their territory for sales.
That'll make it slightly more difficult to get actual income from since crossing borders of any strength is more difficult than just doing the business inside the native country. Would it be an actual line of income if all the sales came from foreign countries?
The drug smuggling would likely be a clan secret. A myth. If you ask a clan member, more than likely they'd act offended and assume your unjustly stereotyping them. Even if they are apart of the drug trade, I could imagine clan members running along with the myth belief and tell people not to spread false rumors.
If you really wanna get advanced, the Kyoyakishi clan doesn't have to sell the drugs. They could hire middlemen from outside clans to do the deeds for you. To add a layer or two of secrecy.
Maybe even have an entire branch of the family dedicated to protecting their secrets, including their drug secrets.
Personally, I think denial on their part would be pointless at best and downright insulting at worst; but, It would depend on how the drug was processed.
If there's enough Crystal Release remaining in the final product then other shinobi would probably connect the drug to the only Crystal Release Clan in the world.
How much crystal release can be detected in the final product is entirely dependent on how the drug is produced. We can talk about the details if you really want to theory-crunch it. I'm well-versed in this topic because Hyōryugetsu Hōzuki from the other Naruto RP utilizes drug-enhanced genjutsu which is produced through her kekkei genkai. Her version of ninja-meth is a plant-based narcotic; she ingests the plant and then extracts the narcotic bits to produce the drug. You could achieve something similar by using crystal release to process the drug instead of to create it from scratch.
I agree with thatguy on the distribution though. You'll have to do a bunch of thinking about how you want to distribute this drug. Criminal Cartels and Minor Shinobi forces do exist and they could act as intermediaries if needs be.
The ideal situation for your clan is probably to have a distributor within the other nations, some other Clan that you smuggle the drug to in bulk and then allow them to distribute it within their own borders.
How effective your distribution is will determine your profit margin. That and a bunch of other factors; production cost, production quantity, etc. will determine how realistic it could be for the Clan to use this as a main means of income.
For example, the largest Clans maybe have a thousand members, while most clans can reasonably be expected to have a few hundred.
If we say the Kyoyakishi have...800 or so members, an upper-end Clan, then how many of these people could be working on drug production? 100...200...300?
How many tons of crystal-drug could 300 shinobi produce?
tenor.gif
Guren is a Jonin, so she can produce quite a hefty amount of crystal; but, whether the Clan wants to invest its Jonin into drugs instead of their ninjutsu or medical divisions is up to you.
Details aside. You won't need highly specific answers to these questions (e.g. you won't need to know exactly how much crystal drug could be produced), just an idea of what the logistics are is enough for me.
Once you've got that down then yea, I could see it becoming a viable source of income.
The randomly determined holders of the scrolls are...
Heaven Scroll Holders
Earth Scroll Holders
The scrolls holders were determined very simply. All the characters were put into a list by order of their character sheets. We have 17 characters in total.
Odds-numbered characters have a Heaven Scroll, Even-numbered characters have an Earth scroll
