Well why don’t we just do Unlimited Moves and PP outside WCS, since we’re already placing limits for WCS? That way we can have our fun for other battles or whatever outside. Then those serious about battling in the WCS have to deal with the 8 or so move limit as well as limited PP. I presume the limited PP will just be the same as the base PP in the games, if not more to make up for the limit of the moves.

Because 1) I just said I liked the idea of putting limits on WCS, not that they were already placed on WCS. There are no limits on WCS at this moment. That's just an idea that was pitched.

2) If we place limits on WCS, I noted it would be limited to just WCS, but if the villainous characters are going to do any PvP it would 90% of the time be outside the WCS and we'd still want to avoid people spamming moves.

Fair points. Guess we just gotta wait to see how the vote turns out then. Congrats on the 200th post here btw

Name: Jin Shino

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Trainer Class: Battler

Physical Appearance: Shorter than his sister, Jin stands at 5'5 with silvery blonde hair that goes past his ears. His skin is pale white, while his eyes are a dark brown. His body has barely any muscle definition, and his body is much frailer than his sister's. On his left hand is a birth mark a birthmark in the shape of what seems to be a lily.

Clothing: Jin is almost always wearing a black shirt, or at least a shirt with black as its main colour. Over that he wears a white jacket, one that was a gift from an old friend. He normally wears loose clothing, with baggy jeans on the bottom which are often times dirty at the knees. To complete it, he wears high top shoes.

unknown.png

Personality: Jin has an odd personality, he seems friendly and nice but underneath it is just an undertone of coldness. As if he's just trying to suppress it all. He laughs a lot and his jokes can come off as a bit dark or morbid, but overall not too worrying. Though a bit of an extroverted introvert, he tries to be open around others. In battle you can really see his true colours though, cold and calculating. He doesn't care who his opponent is, when he battle he battles without restraint. Weak, strong, they're all the same to him. He dislikes weak people, he knows how burdening they can be to others. But he hates strong people due to how they remind him of how weak he is. Though, he keeps this to himself and never really shows it.

Backstory: Jin was lucky to be born, that's what they all said. Those were the first words he had ever heard. Jin was born as a twin, his twin being Kira Shino. From birth, all Jin knew was that he was weak. He was physically weak. His own body was frail and not good for much. But what he lacked in raw strength he more than made up for with his calculating and witty nature. He was smart to put it bluntly. Though it took a while for others to pick up on it, Jin was always praised by Kira for his intelligence. Growing up, the pair were always close. Jin always looked after his twin sister, to him she felt like the only one who could properly understand him. Though Kira wasn't the only one Jin was close to. Jin also had a brother. An older brother by 10 years. Which being honest, it's a massive age gap. The older brother in name was a boy called Kurou Shino. He was anything you could ask for an older brother. He was kind, smart, strong, caring and overall just a nice guy who loved nothing more than seeing the faces of his little sibling light up with joy. He was just that kind of guy.

As for Jin's parents? Well, that's not important seeing as they're both gone. At the age of 3, Jin, Kurou and Kira, lost their parents when they were caught in gang violence. Jin and Kira, they weren't really affected too deeply by this at their age. They could only ask, "when's mum and dad going to come home?" or "I'm sure they're going to come see us soon!". Though it would take a bit longer for either of them to understand it, but Jin was the first one to understand it between him and Kira. Though, this ordeal seemed to trouble Kurou the most. He wasn't really ever the same again. He was violent. He was bad tempered. He started to "discipline" his siblings with physical violence and when questioned about it he played it off as sibling love. Jin often times was the one who got it worse. He was punched, beaten, thrown around and he couldn't do anything about it. Tell his new parents? What were they going to do? Kick out Kurou? That would make Kira sad. That would make him sad.

For a while the three lived together under one roof, a friend of Kurou's parents decided to take them under their wings. Looking after the twins and Kurou. Though this was short lived too as 5 years later, Kurou left them. That final meeting with the three at a cafe. Everything seemed normal. It seemed like Kurou was finally coming to terms with the incident. The days running up to their final meeting was nicer. Kurou seemed back to his old self. He seemed normal again. He was giving them that love they used to have. But then he just left. Not a word. He was gone. This troubled Jin. For the next couple years, the Shino family were never really the same. Jin was guilt riddled about it. He blamed himself for Kurou leaving. He blamed his own weakness. It took Jin a good 3 years to finally find out what happened to Kurou. And though he may have never seen Kurou, the news about him was something Jin wasn't expecting.

Something you should know about Kurou, is that he's a very strong trainer. Being a pokemon trainer from the age of 10, he often travelled around but came home frequently before going out again. He was a strong trainer in his own rights. Now knowing this, what do you think a vengeful 18 year old would do with nothing to lose? If you guessed that he would take revenge on the gang you'd be correct! Kurou did just that and not only that but more. He didn't just take revenge, he ended up taking over the gang. Los Zeta, the name of his new family. His new home. But what on earth made this gang stand out from the others? Well to put it simply, they were organised. They knew how to make money. They knew how to inflict fear. They were feared for their strength. The gang itself was split into 3 parts. The Y unit that specialised in taking jobs from higher clients. They were often seen as a shady protection service. Then there was the X unit. These guys were often used as enforcers. Being paid to do gang attacks, fight other gangs, collect money. These guys were paid to be violent, the transactions often being done in secret. And finally there were the Zeta unit. These guys were the dark side to this gang. They did jobs that were almost always illegal, ranging from hits to dealings. They ran the underground fight club Rabios. This was a place where underground money was made in masses. How long did it take for Kurou to reform the gang into what it is now? 3 years. It took him. In those 3 years he's managed to establish a name for them, making them feared.

Now hearing this you'd expect a person who has just heard that their brother was now a wanted criminal to be confused right? Surprised, shocked, or something like that. But not Jin. He just... kept quiet. He just bottled it in. Jin knew what this would mean. He knew one day, one day his brother was going to fall from glory. He knew one day he'd mess with the wrong person. Though this news did do something good for him. It sparked a fire in him. An inferno that nobody was ever going to put out. One day, just one day, he was going to be able to join his brother. He was going to be there to protect him if it ever did go south. Be there with him so he would never be alone like he was during that incident. He wasn't going to be weak anymore. He was going to be strong. Stronger than ever before.

At the age of 10, Jin was gifted with his first pokemon. His starter. Who gifted it to him? Well, none other than his guardian parents. Both him and Kira gained the same pokemon. Rockruffs. Both Kira and Jin was ecstatic for this new event. They had their first pokemon! Though deep down they had different reasons to be happy. This was Jin's first step into becoming a pokemon master. At first when the pair went out to adventure, they went together. Jin and Kira both stayed together close for the first couple years. During this time it had Jin realise something. He was never going to be as strong as Kira. Her and her pokemon were just always stronger than his. maybe it was the amount of training and effort she put it, maybe him and his pokemon weren't able to keep up, but whatever it was... it was starting to become apparent. Jin needed to do something if he didn't want to be left in the dust and it soon became clear to him what he had to do. If he couldn't use raw strength to keep up with his sister, he'd just have to use his head.

It was during a fateful night, when the pair were talking about their brother, only then did they find out each other's motivations. Kira's motivation was to stop their brother from going any further, Jin's was to join him. It's safe to say that this lead to an altercation. The pair battled it out for hours. It was hard to say who won the match. Jin was knocked down and defeated while some of his pokemon remained. Albeit weakened. However, Kira was left standing. Her team were beaten but she was still standing, just a bit injured. This marked the splitting of the two. From there they went their own paths. Jin was hurt inside. This one hurt him more than anything. The one person who loved him for him, just gone. The one person he cared about most, just gone now. Though, this only fuelled his own determination. He was going to get strong enough before Kira, he was going to face his brother first so he could have Kira join them. She would join them, wouldn't she? Once she realised that the best thing to do was for the three of them to be together.

With this, Jin left the region. He went to a new one to start a fresh new leaf. His new temporary home? Hoen of course! Here he managed to catch a few more pokemon to add to his team. The gyms in Hoen were more so a breeze for him. With his small team of a rockruff, Noivern and Dartrix, Hoen really did help Jin grow up. It helped him grow into the trainer he was. As he went through the region, not every battle was an assured victory. He lost against gym leaders. He lost against others. But each and every time, he learnt to get better than his past failures. He gained new members to his team, evolved the few with him. Things were looking up. He had started to push through gym leaders, claiming all the badges. His goal? Get to the elite 4 and beat them. And he did it. He had managed to beat the elite 4, which only left the champion for him to battle. What did he do? Simple, not battle them. He ignored the champion. He wasn't going to win that battle and Jin never plays the losing game. He knows when he's going to lose and not gain something from it, so he didn't bother. What would he win if he lost? A small speech about getting better? A pat on the back? Plus there was the small chance that if he actually did win, what was he to do then? Become champion himself? Jin left Hoen, having been there long enough to be stronger than before. Much, much, much stronger than before. And now he was leaving Hoen, where to? Simple, to go to Sinnoh. That was his next destination. A place where he could start a new and work his way up again. He needed to get stronger. He was no longer going to sit around and be weak.

Starter:

Species: Gardevoir
Gender: Female
Ability: Synchronise
Other: It was the first pokemon Jin caught in Hoen. It acts as the mother of the team. A bit violent, yet loyal and loving.

Species: Metagross
Gender: N/A
Ability: Clear body
Other: Gets along surprisingly well with Jin's Gardevoir. Though it seems surprisingly shy, not being too aggressive. It seems to only battle if necessary and that's only when he's told to by Jin.

Species: Weavile
Gender: Male
Ability: Pick pocket
Other: Weavile is Jin's special pokemon, it stays with him at all times and is often the one with more bark than bite. It likes to annoy others, and when it back fires it's often up to the other pokemon in the team plus Jin, to help them out. Why does Jin still keep it around? Simple, he took pity on it and from that pity formed a bond between them. One where Jin will protect this chaotic gremlin if anything were to ever try and hurt it.

Species: Decidueye
Gender: Female
Ability: Overgrow
Other: Jin's third pokemon, and the one that plays the role of "I don't know why I'm here, I just get food". Probably Jin's laziest pokemon out of them all, Decidueye is probably the last one to get up and work. Often times it does the least amount of work, only really doing what it has to do in battle and apart from that it sleeps a lot, eats a lot, and can be a pain in the butt to deal with. Though Jin loves Decidueye, only because it is an asset to the team he would never ever replace.

Species: Noivern
Gender: Female
Ability: Infiltrator
Other: Probably the one pokemon on Jin's team that follows the "don't judge a book by its cover", on the outside it's big and intimidating, on the inside? Well it loves nothing more than a tummy rub. It's basically a massive flying puppy of death.

Species: Lycanroc(midnight)
Gender: Male
Ability: no guard
Other: Now for Jin's first pokemon and his most loyal one. The one that would go to the ends of the earth for him. Why? Well to put it simple, they've been together through a lot. Jin says he has no favourites, and he hides it pretty well, but deep down it's Lycanroc at heart. He loves his rock dog, and it loves him back too. It's a bit of a fighty pokemon, often getting into unneeded fights and being a bit of a wildcard in battle. It's the glass cannon of the team.

He's not a fan of name giving to his pokemon...

Name: Kira Shino

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Trainer Class: Battler

Physical Appearance: Kira is taller than Jin, she stands at 5'8 with a much more defined muscular physique compared to him. Her hair is relatively short and black, while her eyes contrast Jin's with a deep blue appearance. Often time her bangs cover her right eye. Having a more developed body and fine skin, she is definitely the one considered "prettier" between the two. Like Jin, she also has a birth mark. However, her's is on the other hand.

Clothing: Kira often wears a black jacket over a white tank top, tying the jacket on her waist when she's too hot. Her trousers are usually cargo trousers with her having outdoor running shoes on most of the time. She wears fingerless gloves and surprisingly she is almost never messy compared to Jin. It's not that she doesn't do things that get her messy, it's just that somehow she never finds herself falling into mud, being thrown around, getting dirtied easily.

unknown.png

Personality: On the outside? She can come off as slightly cold, but you can see the warmth underlying it. Her personality mirrors that of Jin's, though a slightly bit different. She's all about hard work. She was born strong and she was going to help others be strong. Those others? Her pokemon, other people's pokemon, other people. Albeit she runs off her emotions a bit too much, often choosing "the right thing" over what's logically smart is often her style to go. A fighter at heart and one that will push herself however much she has to to meet her end goals. That pretty much sums her up.

Backstory: (Y'know what, I'll do this later since it's pretty similar to Jin's back stoy)

Starter:

Name: Sweet Horn
Species: Heracross

Ability: Guts
Other: This pokemon became close to Kira after trying to steal her lunch once. It was a fun battle and through it Kira gained a new companion. It just costed her her lunch.

Name: Patch
Species: Scrafty
Gender: Male
Ability: Moxie
Other: Kira's loyal Scrafty, the one pokemon that plays tough but has a soft heart. Often times it tries to come off as intimidating but just never realy sells it.

Name: Landmine
Species: Turtonator
Gender: Male
Ability: Shell Armour
Other: Kira found this pokemon when she almost stepped on it while it was asleep. They got off on a rocky start but soon got along and is now one of Kira's closest pokemon.

Name: Rocket
Species: Garchomp
Gender: Female
Ability: Rough Skin
Other: Ah Garchomp, where do we begin with you. Almost costed Kira her arm every time she tries to pet her. Though a pokemon with a fighting spirit, it often gets cocky and over its head. Perfect for a trainer like Kira.

Name: Aria
Species: Altaria
Gender: Female
Ability: Natural cure
Other:

Name: Paw
Species: Lycanroc(Midday)
Gender: Female
Ability: Sand Rush
Other: Kira's first pokemon, Paw was given its name simply due to the fact that it was fast.

Yes she names her pokemon like any good nuzzlocker trainer would do

A fighter at heart and one that will push herself however much she has to to meet her end goals. That pretty much sums her up.

Backstory: (Y'know what, I'll do this later since it's pretty similar to Jin's back stoy)

Starter:

Name: Sweet Horn
Species: Heracross
Gender: Male
Ability: Guts
Other: This pokemon became close to Kira after trying to steal her lunch once. It was a fun battle and through it Kira gained a new companion. It just costed her her lunch.

Name: Patch
Species: Scrafty
Gender: Male
Ability: Moxie
Other: Kira's loyal Scrafty, the one pokemon that plays tough but has a soft heart. Often times it tries to come off as intimidating but just never realy sells it.

Name: Landmine
Species: Turtonator
Gender: Male
Ability: Shell Armour
Other: Kira found this pokemon when she almost stepped on it while it was asleep. They got off on a rocky start but soon got along and is now one of Kira's closest pokemon.

Name: Rocket
Species: Garchomp
Gender: Female
Ability: Rough Skin
Other: Ah Garchomp, where do we begin with you. Almost costed Kira her arm every time she tries to pet her. Though a pokemon with a fighting spirit, it often gets cocky and over its head. Perfect for a trainer like Kira.

Name: Aria
Species: Altaria
Gender: Female
Ability: Natural cure
Other:

Name: Paw
Species: Lycanroc(Midday)
Gender: Female
Ability: Sand Rush
Other: Kira's first pokemon, Paw was given its name simply due to the fact that it was fast.

Yes she names her pokemon like any good nuzzlocker trainer would do
Both look good. Accepted!
Hi, apologies, I live in Australia so sometimes may reply at different times!

I don't really mind too much, but I guess I'll go for Option A?
Noted!

That ties things up again.

A: 6
B: 6

Impression of Esther thus far is essentially: isolating herself much in the same way jangmo-o do, though it feels a lil more selfish in a way — preferring to stick to insufficient shade than join people around her age in the river in spite of the drought, with it being made clear that she's uncomfortable. I get the "oblivious Oblivians" thing, which in itself is clearly ingrained bc Esther is close to her family, but it also shows that that, currently, overrides a more pragmatic approach. Almost an over-thinking the meaning (or...under-thinking?)sorta thing; and you alluded to it a bit as well with the pokedex entry post — it's something that, in itself, makes it possible for Esther herself to make folly as an "oblivious Oblivian".

@kyuukestu I wonder what would be Esther's reaction to Firey and his Salamence?
Abstract terror

alright great! perfectly on point then. Thanks!

@kyuukestu it's essentially the scariest Pokémon on the island?
There's also an Articuno on the island and I believe a Suicune, so there are contenders
Not the whole region, but there's a mountain on Sophian Island called Mt. Sorbet and at the peak is a Salamence. It occasionally terrorizes the island because it's a concentrated ball of spite and rage with wings.
Love that description
