Name: Joyce Blake
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Trainer Class: Battler
Physical Appearance: A young woman standing at 1.6 meters tall with an average physique. She has black hair styled in a chin length bob and hazel eyes with gold flecks.
Clothing: (Normal clothing) A casual black dress with white frills on the skirt above black stockings and brown boots. A headband with a small black bow decorates her head. (Tropical clothing) A black tank top, blue shorts and beige sandals. Has the same headband from her usual outfit one her head but it's hidden by a straw hat.
Personality: Joyce is very jolly and optimistic, always looking at the best of any given situation. However, she's also pretty grounded and knows when to turn down her enthusiasm. She isn't one to dwell on any one topic for too long and can often be seen as absent-minded. She can also be somewhat careless at times. However, these traits never seem to show themselves when Joyce enters a battle, one of the few things she is proficient at. She is good at thinking on the spot in tense scenarios, although she's usually in a state of panic while doing so.
Backstory: Joyce Blake is the younger sister of Ken Blake. She grew up in Kanto and has always had a fascination with Pokemon Battles. The way trainers and their pokemon worked together to achieve a flashing display of attack combinations always made the young girl's eyes sjine with glee. The fact that her older brother was already a pretty well known trained by the time she was born also helped in elevating her passion. Joyce spend her childhood studying pokemon battles by watching and mimicking moves made by some of the top trainers during their public matches, visualizing herself in those situations and how she'd fight those battles. On her tenth birthday, she received her first pokemon. Coming back home after a trip to the Sinnoh Region, her older brother gifted her a Turtwig. With her coming of age here, Joyce set out on her own journey as soon as she could... only to return home a few days later. Although she has spent a great deal of time learning about pokemon battles, that was the only thing she ever focused on, leaving her basically clueless about everything else she needed to know when out alone in the wilderness. Not willing to give up over such a slight mishap, Joyce took this as a lesson that she needs to be more prepare out in the real world and began planning for when she'll be ready to set out again. She also took up some jobs in order to save up money for her travels.

Pokemon:

Species: Turtwig
Name: Sapling
Gender: Male
Nature: Brave
Ability: Overgrow
Bio: Joyce's fist pokemon, picked up by Ken as an Egg during one of his trips to Sinnoh. Has been Joyce's most loyal partner ever since. Full of spirit and always ready for action, Sapling is willing to charge headfirst into danger without a second thought.

Species: Larvitar
Name:Thorn
Gender: Male
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Guts
Bio: When Joyce was helping out on a farm owned by an old couple, they gifted her an Egg as a reward. That Egg later hatched into a Larvitar. Headstrong and likes to act tough, Thorn is quite a reliable partner.

Species: Gyarados
Name: Wyrm
Gender: Male
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Intimidate
Bio: One day, Joyce decided to do some fishing. During her trip down the river, she fished up a lowly Magikarp which she quickly dispatched with a Seed Bomb from Sapling. Not long after doing so, a very angry Gyarado re-emerged from the water. In order to stop the pokemon from going on a rampage, and because this is entirely her fault, Joyce entered a fierce battle with the raging water dragon and managed to capture it in the end. Aggressive and uncompromising, Wyrm is still angry at Joyce for what she did.

This'll be the character I'll be using for the long run.

Have you noticed that everything Reina touches turns hostile? @EnviousWorm

And here is my main OC!

Name: Fuyuki Ume (decides to go by Gray in the modern world)
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Trainer Class: Explorer
Appearance: Fuyuki is, for the most part, a typical young teenager. He stands at 5’5 and is a scrappy looking kid with a big mess of crimson hair, golden eyes, and a nearly perpetual grin. The fair skin of his face and arms always have various little nicks and cuts from his constant “adventures.” His forearms are decorated with dark blue tribal tattoos. He wears clothes in the same style as the typical hisui kimono set, with his having navy pants, red ankle guards, tan sandals, and a white top decorated with red waves coming from the waist and sleeves. The kimono also has a hood and all the edges are lined with navy Luxray fur.
Personality: Simple minded, straightforward, slow learner. His redeeming qualities are that he is defined by his fearlessness, curiosity, and kindness

Backstory: Born in ancient Hisui to a tribe that lived along the side of Mt. Coronet, Fuyuki was a misfit from the get go. While the other children were taught the lore of their storied region and learned to hunt and gather food for the tribe, Fuyuki was much more interested in exploring, often resulting in him needing to be saved from an enraged pokemon. But that barrier only made him determined to become a great trainer: so he could put together a powerful team and explore without having to worry about any obstacles stopping him.

Unfortunately, beginning his Pokémon adventure would prove to be a difficult task to get started. In his village, an elder determines a “spirit pokemon” for every child when they come of age. They are then given a pokeball and told that upon catching and bonding with their spirit pokemon, their transition into adulthood would be acknowledged and they would be free to venture on their own paths. Hard workers were assigned pokemon like bidoof, intellects were given murkrows and glameows, but Fuyuki, the misfit and outcast, was assigned the elusive hisuian Zorua.

While at first he was ecstatic to have been assigned the rarest Pokémon of the bunch, he soon realized that it was more of a curse than anything. While his peers quickly found and bonded with their Pokémon and set out to find their own path with a Pokémon partner by their side, Fuyuki had not so much as seen a Zorua.

Days of searching turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, and soon enough a year had passed and left him as the only pokemon-less child in the village. And while the stubborn boy hadn’t given up hope, his tribe did and determined that he was to begin helping in berry farming in order to contribute.

This drove him insane. At least while he had been searching for Zorua he was able to go on some minor adventures, now he was stuck tending the fields alongside trainers and their budew. And even this he sucked at. Despite only being trusted to manage the smallest of gardens, his berry production was drastically below the projection. Fuyuki was convinced a wild Pokémon was stealing from his harvest, but the other members of his tribe just chalked it up to yet another one of his inadequacies.

Determined to prove his innocence, he planned a steak out. He hid in a tree armed with only a net and waited for the thief to appear. After initially nodding off, a rustling woke him up a few hours later and he saw the white and red pelt of a hisui Zorua. Finally, his chance had come. He leapt down from his perch and dashed towards the Pokémon. Startled by the human’s sudden appearance, the fox quickly summoned images that would reflect Fuyuki’s greatest fear, but nothing happened. Fuyuki’s greatest fear was quite literally nothing, being completely alone forever, and the conjuration of nothingness was less than intimidating. Never before had zorua’s tricks failed, and now frightened by the boy he fled into Mt. Coronet, with Fuyuki chasing after. Though eventually, an unfortunate turn of events led them into an ice type Ninetales den, and when Fuyuki accidentally woke it by stepping on its tale, the angered beast released a powerful curse and froze them in the heart of the mountain until this day.

This Zorua seems a bit bad at illusions...looks good though, accepted unless the mods have to say about legends content.

So last night, I asked Kyuu about this in the Discord and I was told to put this in the discussion thread for further discussion. In the manga, Arbok has certain body patterns that allows for special abilities. For example, Koga's Arbok has a pattern that regenerates any lost body part as long as the head is intact.

Meanwhile Agatha's Arbok has three patterns that it can change between, an attack pattern, a speed pattern and a pattern that grants it immunity against toxins. In the manga, the pattern is seen dispelling Poison attacks.

Although multiple sources list a speed-boosting pattern, I was unable to find any images of it. From what I've gathered, it is meant to be the second pattern shown in Agatha's explanation.

If these patterns are allowed for Arbok, the stats would be altered for the Attack and Speed boosting pattern. I do not think that a stat change is required for the immunity or regeneration pattern, but an ability could take care of those. I personally propose that the pattern changing between Attack, Speed and Immunity requires some sort of ability or outside help. Agatha uses some kind of smoke to change her Arbok's pattern.

For the Attack pattern, I personally thought about giving Attack and Special Attack a 20 point boost whilst the respective defenses lose 20 points. Whilst the manga says that the attack gets multiplied, I think that it can get out of hand fast even with a 1.5 multiplier. For the Speed pattern, I thought that a 25 point increase could work with a 15 point decrease in Attack and a 10 point decrease in Special Attack.

The Invulnerability pattern would probably grant an immunity to Poison attacks, with no stat changes. The Regeneration pattern would probably be a stand-alone pattern, so a potential ability to switch between Attack, Speed and Invulnerability patterns would not be able to get the Regeneration pattern. As for its ability, I thought of something akin to Leftovers or Black Sludge, recovering a certain amount of HP every turn as I doubt that anyone would go the Edgy Route and slice Pokémon apart.

I have no intention to make a custom pattern, as these four are versatile enough in my honest opinion. For convenience, I have added Arbok's stats as to give an indication of the stat shuffling.

Name: Desmond Andrews

Gender: Male

Age: 19

Trainer Class: Photographer (Though does battle on the side)

Physical Appearance: A young man with a slightly tanned complexation with a slightly scruffy set of short black hair. Desmond has a visible scar above his right eye and the eyes themselves are colored a dark shade of brown. He stands at about average height for his age and has a lightly toned physique which indicates he does keep in shape if nothing else.

Clothing: He wears a light grey t-shirt that is usually covered by a black jacket that typically has its zipper undone for the sake of comfort. He also dawns a pair of old jeans and some brown tennis shoes while he carries around a bag strapped over his shoulder that contains his key items for travel. Around his neck, he has a silver locket which itself contains an image of himself and his brother Alvin as younger kids being silly together which he treasures above all else.

Personality: Desmond is a troubled individual to those who first meet him. Due to his Pokemon paranoia he is by nature a bit agitated and nervous when Pokemon are close to him which is not helped by the fact he usually reacts to this by trying to come off as jaded and cold to mask that fear; which only succeeded in shaping the image Desmond is a bit of a jerk. However, underneath this surface persona beyond the fear there is a young man who proves shockingly sensitive to the troubles of others and tries to express empathy as he learns to work through his trauma in order to succeed in his goal; showing he is quite determined. Truthfully not that Desmond is aware or would admit this all he longs for is to not let down those close to him and find that adventurer spirit he used to have.

Backstory: Kanto native Desmond was once a young kid who much like any kid dreamed of having his own Pokemon and going on adventures. However, those dreams seemed to end when an accident involving a flock of aggressive Spearow and a near death fall left Desmond scarred and a crippling paranoia about Pokemon developed. This caused him to shy away from his original desires and instead focus on a passion for photography, though trying to distance himself from Pokemon altogether proved to be well an impossibility. This was further complicated by his younger brother, Alvin, who by contrast had an undying love for Pokemon with a dream to one day travel the world and meet as many of them as he could. That dream sadly would not come to pass, as he tragically passed due to illness leaving a hole in his partner Pokemon Politoed, Desmond and their family. Desmond decided to try and honor his late brother's dream, to travel the world as he would try to get a photograph of every Pokemon he could to immortalize in a memorial book so his brother's image would be beside the creatures he held so close to his heart. Alvin's Politoed of course wanted to come along and Desmond more or less adopted the frog Pokemon much as this whole thing nerved him.

Starter: Politoed

Personality: In contrast to Desmond, Politoed is entirely a people and Pokemon person. Always friendly and full of energy Politoed just is a beacon of sunshine who seems to find fun in even the most mundane of situations. In spite of Desmond being nerved with Politoed around, it tries its best to be supportive of its new trainer to help him work though his trauma. Politoed is the ultimate cheerleader and has no issues showing support to those it considers its friends in even the darkest situations.

So what are the travel times like? Are we going with a realisticish kinda feel with walking an entire route takes a day or with game logic and it takes a few moments?
I'll be going the realistic route, so walking between routes will take hours to a day or two, depending on the length of that route. That's also why I plan to buy a bike to cut down on travel time. Ofc, riding Pokemon or paying for a bus, plane, whatever would be even faster.

Alright, people. As some of you may have noticed, we have a money system and items that can be bought from shops. This begs the question, 'How does one earn money?' One answer to that question is EVENTS! Tournaments, Pokeathalons, Fashion Shows, Marathons, etc. Many different events exist across the games and anime.

Here's a sample list of Sinnoh events.

Lilypad Town — Tag-Battle Competition

The Lilypad Tag-Battle Competition, held at the Lilypad Coliseum, is an battle-based tournament event.

Greenstation Town — Pokemon Hustle

The Greenstation Pokemon Hustle is a multi-stage ninja-warrior type challenge where trainers and a Pokemon of their choice will navigate a series of obstacle courses. Falling off the obstacle course constitutes immediate disqualification.

Pokemon Summer Academy — Poke-Triathalon

The Poke-Triathalon is a three-part race wherre competitors use a random borrowed pokemon rather than their own Pokemon.

The first leg of the race involves borrowing a pokemon that the trainer will then ride, through a forest, towards a check-point.

Once at that check-point the trainer will borrow a random water-type which will take them across the second leg of the race, over a lake.

The third and final leg of the race is a standard sprint to the finish line. Trainers beware, the wild pokemon with the forest and lake are highly aggressive and will attack.

Somewhere near Eterna — Pokemon Dress Up Competition

Pokemon Dress-Up is a competition where Pokemon are judged on how well they can imitate other Pokemon, either by dressing up or by doing impressions. The key to achieve victory is to stay in character, replicating another Pokemon's behavior as closely as possible.

Pastoria City — Croagunk Festival

The Croagunk Festival is an annual tournament in celebration of croagunk, while the festival traditionally only allows croagunk to participate, the restrictions have been loosened in recent times to allow fighting and poison type pokemon. The festival involves a series of successive one on one battles from which one champion can emerge.

Hearthome City — Tag-Battle Competition

The Heathome City Tag-Battle Competition is a battle-focused tournament where teams of trainers, in pairs, compete against each other for the crown. Trainers are able to register three pokmonen which they may choose from before each battle. Although battles themselves will be two on two battles with no switches.

Hearthome Collection — Fashion Competition

The Hearthome Collection is a Fashion-based competition, where the participating trainers dress and model their Pokémon in a fashionably or unique way. They must then deliver a performance to show off their Pokémon's style. It is similar to the Performance Stage of Pokémon Contests, with the key difference being that Stylists have to display their Pokémon's charms while simultaneously highlighting the clothing and accessories worn by their Pokémon.

Additionally, Stylists must be dressed in accordance to the overall style exhibited by their Pokémon. In this sense, it's more similar Kalos' Pokemon Performances.

Squallville — PokeRinger (Only Pokemon that can fly)

The PokéRinger is a competitive sport where a Trainer and their Pokémon compete together as a team. The competition provides Trainers with a unique battle variation and tests how well they cooperate with their Pokémon. At the start of each match, a hot air balloon is released containing a ring hanging from it.

The competing Pokémon must retrieve the ring before its opponent and hang it on one of three hooks on the goalpost located at the center of the battlefield. For the competition, Trainers enter a single Pokémon capable of flying, which they must use in all matches. Trainers are expected to read air currents and wind patterns to assist their Pokémon in grabbing the ring and delivering it to the goalpost. Whichever team first completes that task is declared the winner.

During a PokéRinger match, Trainers stay on a hot air balloon from where they give commands to their Pokémon. While battling midair, the Pokémon are allowed to use their moves to prevent their opponents from delivering the ring. As such, a Pokémon may end up fainting during a match, thus a victory by knock out is also a possibility.

Camellia Town — Pokeathalon

The Pokeathalon is an athletic-focused five-event series in which trainers will submit one Pokemon to compete in a five-event pentathalon.

The events will be randomly chosen from this list:
- Hurdle Dash
- Ring Drop
- Snow Throw
- Lamp Jump
- Relay Run
- Block Smash
- Circle Push
- Disc Catch
- Pennant Capture
- Goal Roll

Trainers will not know which five events will be chosen beforehand.

Sandalstraw Town — Ping Pong

The Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament is an event where Pokémon and Trainer form a pair and compete in a game of ping pong. The Trainers use a paddle while the partner Pokémon uses its body to hit the ball. Pokémon are not allowed to use their moves and doing so will result in disqualification.

Snow Point City — Pokemon Iceberg Race

The race features a swim from the starting point around an iceberg and back to the start. Two lines of Chinchou mark the edges of the racetrack, while an Octillery gives the starting signal. Competitors are allowed to enter up to two Pokémon each.

Pokemon are allowed to obstruct each other during the race, so it is possible for pokemon to faint. Trainers should also beware the wild pokemon that may inhabit the route; most notably, a shiver of sharkish Pokemon are known the aggressively patrol the route.

Twinleaf Town — Festival Battle Challenge

The Festival Battle Challenge is a tournament held in Twinleaf Town, which consists of individual Double Battles and three-person triple-battles. It is the main event of the annual Twinleaf Festival. The winner of the festival will receive the honor of a showcase against Tower Tycoon Palmer.

Celestic Town — Valley Basin Flush (Requires a Pokemon than can swim)

The Vally Basin Flush is a water-based race. During the competition, Trainers race on floating platforms pulled by Water-type Pokémon following the flow of the Celestic river, which flows along route 210.

Caution is advised as the Celestic river is often mired by thick fogs which may prevent the trainer from safety navigating the river's rapids jagged rocks that precede the waterfall. The first trainer to safely navigate through all obstruction, down the waterfall, and into the Old Basin to the finish line is declared the winner.

Trainer's be advised, the race-course is perilous.

Eterna City — Eterna Cup (Only Grass types)

The annual Eterna Cup is a grass-type only competition where trainers engage in a series of one on one battles. The tournament is said to pay homage to the great Eterna forest and the many grass-type pokemon that call Eterna and it's surroundings home.

Solaceon Town — Battle-Swap Switcheroo

The Battle-Swap Switcheroo is a unique situation that tests trainer's versatility and ability to adapt. Trainer's submit one Pokemon to the competition, all of which will be added to a Pokemon pool mixed with random Pokemon. Before each round trainers will draw a random number that will determine what pokemon they battle with for that round.

Mt. Coronet — Pokemon Orienteering

Pokemon Orienteering is a competition that will test a trainer's ability to navigate and traverse harsh terrain. Trainers, along with one of their pokemon, must traverse the cliffs of Mt. Coronet while searching for five steles. At the steles, trainers will find inks and inscriptions they can copy using specially prepared note pads.

Trainer's beware, the steles have been erected within the heart of territories controlled by powerful Pokemon and their packs.

There are many, many, more events such as Alola's Pancake Race or Johto's Tour de Alto Mare, on top of these existing events, feel free to create your own events. People who are interested in earning money for TMs, Evolution Items, Supplies, etc. will likely be looking to join some of these events. Events will be divided by rank: Ultra, Great, Premier, Normal and higher-ranked events can give more rewards.

For those of you who want to create events, here's what I believe is a fair metric for how much each rank can dish out in prizes:

Ultra - up to 100k
Great - up to 50k
Premier - up to 25k
Normal - up to 10k

This will be in monetary value, so a Great ranked tournament could give out TRs so long as their combined price wasn't above 50k.

Events will probably be one of the more fun ways of getting characters to interact but remember you can still earn money through traditional means like betting your lunch money on a pokemon battle.

If you have any questions please ask.

Here's a list of anime-exclusive Pokemon events that can be found on Bulbapedia

An RP that intrigues me, and starts on my birthday too? Well, that's sure caught my eye!

Name: Shanya 'Colored' Harika
Gender: Female
Age: 15
Trainer Class: A mix of Battler and Coordinator.
Physical Appearance: Standing at 5'2, Shanya (or Colored as she likes to be called) isn't that remarkable physically. She's got typical weight for her age, and a rather pale skintone too. Her eyes are a natural hazel and she keeps her shoulder length, brown hair tied up in a ponytail most of the time. The only thing slightly interesting about her appears to be a scar above her left eye.
Clothing: Colored takes surprising pride in her appearance. She always wears an oversized purple hoodie with rosy pink trousers beneath it, and Velcro sneakers that are the same shade of purple as her hoodie. She... didn't learn how to tie shoelaces. Colored also has a glittery silver backpack with her at all times which mostly contains info on her team as well as other important items.
Personality: A mix of sweet and sour, if you would. Colored, for the most part, is introverted and very reserved with all that she does. Nobody ever seems to notice her, and she's honestly quite happy with that. But Colored can also be very snappy and rude at times, often accidentally becoming aggressive as well, although that's quite rare. But putting that aside, Colored is gentle and pure of heart no matter how you see her.
Backstory: Despite being named Shanya at birth, some online testing had made Shanya forget all about her real name and become her online persona instead: Colored. Being raised in Galar's Stow-on-Side, she learnt to stand her ground in the rustic town despite having to run most errands for the house she lived in. But one passion Colored couldn't shake was Pokémon, and boy did she want in on it. Yet it wasn't until she was 13 did she be granted permission to go off and find one.
This came in the form of a summer-break vacation she took that year to Colored's old home in Unova's Castelia City, where she took extreme caution in finding a lifelong partner. And eventually, she did find that one Pokémon her heart latched on to: a Snivy that was wandering through the woods not too far from Castelia.
On returning to Stow-on-Side later that year, Colored slowly built up a team she was happy to call her own and eventually felt ready to set foot into the world on her own accord after learning all she needed to know. Did she know what she was going to do? Nope, but that wasn't going to stop her from finding something out.
