The ice that had encrusted the ground had all but turned into water at this point. The ground was marred with countless explosions from erupting earth. And all that stood between the Infernape's way was a god damn ditch.

The Infernape had thankfully been looking for the Earth Power and he dodged it in time, though it was extremely close to hitting him. These quick applications of Earth Power actually had him worried. But he saw so much chunky pieces of earth that were now separate from the ground, and while the Grassy Terrain was uneven, there was still some of it that led into the ditch and up to where the Venusaur sat.

Hah. How cute.

His fist glowing with fire, he smashed into the ground in front of him, the «Fire Punch» exploding in contact with the ground and sending a wave of fire through the glowing grass, down the ditch, and up to Mega Venusaur. He then charged forward, diving into the ditch just to bounce against the wall of the ditch and come back up for another «Aerial Ace».

Hopefully, this should be enough for him because he knew he was going to be able to continue this.

Trying to burn her grassy terrain? Gardenia scoffed but decided to wait it out. Thick Fat would reduce the damage Venusaur took and this was a chance to finish things. Infernape charged and dived into the ditch. Venusaur growled, when the Infernape emerged with its Aerial Ace it would be to the building toxins of Venusaur’s bloom as it sprayed «sludge bomb» and the offending monkey!

She seemed to get caught up pretty easily. Milo watched as Laura bounced between excited to disappointed and upset, back to being inspired. "You got some spirit about'cha. Alrighty."

"«Magical Leaf»!" The Oddish bravely stood her ground, sending out magical, rainbow leaves homing in on the Magneton. They didn't lose their target, even as the Magnet Bomb slammed into the Oddish, knocking it out.

"Good job, challenger." Milo grinned, returning his first Pokemon. "Now for the real fight." He sent out his Eldegoss, the giant cotton weed floated about just above the ground with elegance. The sunlight faded.

All he had to do was wait for her to send out her Pokemon. Then, he was going to make her big.

The Infernape attempted to run through the Sludge Bomb, but it was just too much. His Aerial Ace died early, and he collapsed at the foot of the Mega Venusaur, covered in searing poison. Naka immediately returned him, giving him a fond look. "Good job, Hanu." Pocketing her ball, she pulled out Silenus's PokeBall, a reminiscent smile on her face. "Good luck, Silenus." She sent him out, the Sceptile standing in his 6'03" glory, a Scope Lens on his face to get a good read on what areas to hit the best for a critical hit.

The Sceptile looked on at the Mega Venusaur, a calm gaze on his features as he breathed nice and easy. Closing his eyes, the Sceptile took a deep breath in, then a deep breath out, using «Focus Energy» as he calmly assessed his environment, then the enemy.

The rambunctious air from the Infernape, the jolly atmospheres of Ludicolo and Aerodactyl, the quiet vibe of Zweilous, and the more frustrated, vain air of the Froslass were not comparable to that of the energy this Sceptile exuded. Easily, this Pokemon was one of Naka's strongest.

Making sure he wasn't being set upon by an attack, he immediately smashed the ground with his fist, a large stone three times as large as he erupting from the ground, before splitting apart and crashing into the rest of the battlefield, creating a rock maze for which Silenus may use as cover. This was «Stone Edge».

The Sceptile's legs were tense, ready to spring into action.

Gardenia breathed a sigh of relief as Infernape went down and Nakano’s last pokémon came out. A Sceptile? Gardenia relaxed. Sceptile was a strong and powerful pokémon, but was it a match for Mega Venasaur? Fat chance. It was time to recover.

“Now Venusaur, «Sunny Day» and «Synthesis»!”

The boost from sunny day would allow synthesis to recover more health, restoring a lot of the damage it had taken from Infernape. With supporting heals from grassy terrain, Naka would have a long way to go to take this bad boy down!

Wincing from the Spikes, Silenus breathed easy. He can see the Venusaur's glow and the sun got harsher. Good. The Grassy Terrain was soothing him from his own damage from the Spikes.

His back leg slipped, then he disappeared, having used «Quick Attack» to close the distance. Eyes gleaming, he had bounced the least amount of rock surfaces to get to Mega Venusaur, leaf blades burning with an intense sky blue energy as he went in for an «Aerial Ace», honing in on a weak spot he found for a critical hit. His body was ready to have a counter to his attack, despite his blazing speed. Even when he wasn't being boosted by his Quick Attack, he was still almost a blur.

Speed. It looked like that was Nakano’s play, to use her Sceptile’s superior speed to evade and attack the bulkier, more offensive Venusaur. It was a pity Venusaur couldn’t match Sceptile for speed...or could it? Gardenia hadn’t become a gym leader without finding ways around problems like this!

As Sceptile zoomed in Venusaur’s legs tensed, and its flower swayed dangerously. As Quick Attack transitioned into Aerial Ace Vensaur moved, its speed dramatically increased as it moved across the grasses below—«Grassy Glide»!

The sudden increase in speed allowed it to shift away from aerial ace, and its flower oozed with poison—if its sudden movements took Sceptile off-guard, its opponent would be in for a devastating Sludge Bomb!

It wasn't just speed, it was also his reaction timing. All of his training was just maneuvering, and reacting. Everything since he was a Treecko because Naka, even when she was eighteen, saw his potential in speed and reaction time. So when he saw the entire body of the Mega Venusaur move, he knew he was going to miss. He canceled his attack, landed, then shot forward to another rock, diving behind it to avoid a Sludge Bomb, which bashed a crater into one of the rocks.

He then zipped around the stony field, wondering when the big oaf was going to fire his shot. Come on, blow this whole place up!

Meanwhile, he came in from behind, then gave a piddly little «Quick Attack» just to then dive back into the rocks, goading him.

“Venusaur, «Grassy Terrain»!”

With their last glassy glide, the flourishing land beneath them had returned to normal as the effects of grassy terrain ended. Gardenia was careful to not get swept into Nakano’s pace and refreshed her terrain to maintain her speed.

Now with the combined power of grassy terrain and growth, Venusaur was poised to remove the rocky jungle gym Sceptile wanted to play in.

“Let’s remove those pebbles Venusaur, blow it away with «Solarbeam»!”

Sunlight gathered in Venusaur’s flower, and the endless power of the solar star condensed into raw, unfettered destruction. Venusaur took aim at the rocky outcrops that had been created the gym rumbled with its roar—solarbeam fired! The flash is almost blinding! The air burning white-hot!

Venusaur swept its destructive beam across the boulders, fully intending to pulverize the obstructions.

The Magnet Bomb and Magical Leaf whizzed by each other. As the metallic blue orb hit the Oddish, so did the glowing leaves with Magneton. Simultaneously, both pokemon fell to their respective attacks. Magneton fell down to the ground, out for real this time. Laura pulled out her pokeball and returned her fallen pokemon. “You did great Magneton, we probably would have been in a better position if it weren’t for my mistake.” She said to the pokeball before putting it away. The girl then pulled out her second pokemon. “Ok, down to one pokemon each.” She whispered to herself before reeling her arm back. “Come on out Koffing!” She shouted as she threw the pokeball containing her second pokemon, sending out her Koffing. While throwing her ball, Laura nearly tripped over nothing, but she was able to regain her balance before she fell down.

The Poison type spun around in the air with a big smile on his face, happy to be out and about. “Koffing! Let’s start strong and use Poison Gas!” Learning from the previous round, Laura did not wait around this time and went straight to inflicting a status as soon as she could. Hearing his trainer’s command, Koffin released a noxious purple fume from his many holes which would begin floating towards the opposing Eldegoss.

Trying to keep up that Grassy Terrain? Seems more like tactical desperation to Silenus. That Venusaur was far too slow to properly match his speed without a beefed up Grassy Glide. Still, that Sludge Bomb was concerning.

Hearing the Venusaur was going to use Solar Beam, he chose a nearby crater to hide in, the Solar Beam passing over him. He chose a crater where it was effectively the beginning of the roundabout Solar Beam, that way he was able to dance about with «Swords Dance».

The Solar Beam ended just as Silenus had finished his Swords Dance. He smashed his fists into the earth, a large stone erecting from it. It splintered, but then shot towards the Venusaur instead of making more, covering a slightly wider area than normal to make sure the «Stone Edge» hit despite the Grassy Glide.

These splintered off rocks will also land into the field, creating more surfaces if they don't get hit by the Venusaur outright.

Milo decided to wait, the poison affecting his Eldegoss. She got sick, but that's alright. He returned his Eldegoss, his Dynamax Band glowing and encapsulating his PokeBall. It grew bigger, becoming the size of a beach ball and looking like a Premier Ball on steroids. He patted the PokeBall as if it were a Wooloo and chucked it with one arm, sending the now humungous Eldegoss onto the field.

"You'll need to Dynamax if you want to survive this, challenger!" He actually gave Laura the common courtesy to Dynamax, before he called out his first move. "Max Overgrowth!"

The Eldegoss sang, then shook her cotton afro and sent forth several large, glowing seeds that were irradiating with latent and potent grass energy, which then immediately sprout into mushrooms before exploding and covering the entire field in Grassy Terrain.

“«Solarbeam»”

Gardenia’s arms were folded and the gym leader appeared unconcerned with the jagged rock barreling toward her pokémon. The air around Venusaur flickered and dimmed; its petals and leaves devoured sunlight and condensed it into a weaponized beam of destruction. The great beast anchored itself, its claws found purchase in the earth beneath. It tilted forward, the cannon of its bloom pointed towards the incoming stone edge.

When Venusaur fired the scintillating collision saw the pillar of rock groan and then fracture beneath the power of solarbeam. In part, this was because the power of the move had been dispersed by its spread but also—silly challenger, Grass was super effective against Rock.

“Now «Growth»!”

Gardenia could see Nakano’s endgame. They danced on the knife’s edge: a single move would end things, and whoever got hit first would lose.

Okay, now he was starting to get a vibe of her. He was suddenly reminded of the more country-style Unovan moms that lived around Driftveil City. But if they had a more Paldean accent. Her Grafaiai was certainly interesting, but it seemed like he was suddenly far more preoccupied with copying the Spearow's face rather than look at the Munna's flower on her body, to which the Munna got closer and cooed patiently, trying to get Baba's attention.

One of her other Pokemon showed up, and he's never really seen one before. He had heard of one though. What were they? Clodsire? It looked like a flatter version of a Quagsire. And it was a wayyy darker color, so it was like... He didn't know. But if every Pokemon on her team was a Poison-Type, then that meant this thing was a part Poison-Type. That was when Adrianne's Pokedex spoke of it and the Grafaiai, lending him to nod as he realized they were Pokemon he hadn't heard before. Fascinating.

He wondered if there were any Ghost-Types in Paldea.

Aqua seemed like she was trying to get out of her shell, unlike Missy, who was starting to get extremely uncomfortable getting stared at.

The fact that they were already acting like childhood friends had Reggie chuckling sheepishly. Really? That's pretty great, actually. Briar's deflection of Reggie's correction had Reggie realizing he had said something kind of rude, but he was also just really confused. He didn't know how to fully apologize for that right now though, his mind was being pulled in two directions.

Missy continued to stay behind, Reggie, ducking back around when Briar tried to have a look at her. Now, Briar had introduced herself again, but for Reggie it was the first time, his mind being very slow to process. Baba's sudden interest in Missy had the Misdreavus whining, suddenly disappearing and Emeric the Shiny Haunter appeared in her stead, the blue tongue sparkling oddly as he looked about, then at the new person in front of him, and these new Pokemon.

It was then Reggie was called out for looking tired. "Yeah... Had uh... Insomnia and nightmares, so I can't really stay asleep for long. Might as well need the Lunar Wing from Cresselia to sleep properly if it'll affect insomnia, but I don't even know where to get one without getting fooled by some tourist trap and getting a dud." He gruffly said, clearly a bit peeved on two accounts of everyone being bothered by it so much which only made him realize there wasn't a good way of handling it.

To break away from being told he needed to sleep better, he started walking towards the shore. "Come on, let's start fishing. I don't wanna wait until lunch!"

He walked up to the shore and awaited for Ivy's Gyarados to come out so they may swim out and find a good place to fish.

Cole was wondering what she was trying to be so sneaky about. He had caught her reaching into her bag, slowly grabbing for something, only for his words to bring her right out of whatever she was doing. Was she alright?

She seemed to have a sort of issue. Wanting to sound like he somewhat cared despite really just not wanting to hear her voice anymore, he spoke again. "Well, I think you should take a nap. You don't look so good." His Totodile had watched the Grafaiai steal a kid's drink, her eyes widening at the obvious display of theft. She wanted to say something, but looked back to see Cole staring at her questioningly with those dull, dark eyes of his. Not wanting to get them even more into trouble, she sighed and went back to watching the fight.

The Stone Edge was just a distraction. The Stone Edge was hovering in the air before it got obliterated, so Sceptile had used it and the light from the Solar Beam to shield his oncoming movement. As the Pokemon was now getting stronger and he was just a few yards away, his leaf blades burned with bug energy that he fired from a quick swipe from both arms at short range, the «X-Scissor» aiming for his head but while fully committing he was ready for an attack to be fired, his legs ready to jump elsewhere if the strength of the attack was too much for him to just glance off to the side with another attack.

Naka had to just put her trust in Silenus. He knew what he was doing, and she was afraid she was going to fuck it up with a command. Feeling all these eyes on her and her Pokemon only made this anxiety much worse. Her hands got clammy as she clenched them, eyes trying to find any advantage for her Sceptile that he hadn't seen yet.

Leaving it all to her pokémon? Gardenia frowned in disapproval. The trainer existed to offer a second set of eyes, to see and seize opportunities their pokémon couldn’t. As they said, an observer often saw things clearest.

“You’ll need to work together to beat me, challenger! Go! Venusaur push forward!” Gardenia saw an opportunity and went for the throat. Venusaur rushed forward with «Grassy Glide»! The distance between itself and Sceptile had been deleted in an instant. It had rushed through the X-Scissor to accomplish this feat, throwing caution to the wind and trusting its sheer bulk and its trainer in a way that Sceptile apparently couldn’t.

Gardenia’s plan was simple: Grassy Glide would slam into Sceptile and send it sprawling. The small distance between them almost guaranteed their ‘surprise’ attack would land. The Gym Leader knew Grassy Glide wouldn’t be enough to put Sceptile down for good; the Grassy Glide bodycheck was just a preamble, a way to knock Sceptile off its feet and cripple its ability to dodge. If it worked, their opponent would be open to a—"Now, «Sludge Bomb»!“

Gardenia's words maybe cut a bit too hard. She saw that look of disapproval. It wasn't that Sceptile couldn't trust her. It was Naka trusting in Silenus, but maybe it was a bit too much. Did she need to take action? Silenus didn't seem to have the wherewithal at the moment. She saw the Venusaur push forward and she had an idea and she wanted to prove Gardenia wrong. She wasn't a horrible trainer, she swore she wasn't!

"Springboard and «Stone Edge»!" Her voice grew hoarse from how stern and raw that sounded, making her wince at hurting her throat.

The Sceptile was not surprised the Venusaur tried to close the distance as it was to be expected. He would have done the same, but hearing a command had him grinning. There we go, my trainer. That's the spirit! Jumping up and letting the Venusaur come to him, he used the Venusaur's head as a spring board to jump back, saving him from a good brunt of the Grassy Glide damage. Smashing his fist into the earth, a pointy rock came from underneath Venusaur, intending to strike it dead into his chest.

Gardenia’s expression eased into a gentle smile as Nakano got a grip and managed to find an opportunity amidst a dangerous situation. The Stone Edge slammed into Venusaur’s chest and it released a pained groan as it staggered backward. The damage it had taken had Venusaur’s legs weak and trembling. The lumbering beast shook and steadied itself, then it threw a look in Gardenia’s direction.

Gardenia sighed but maintained a smile. She nodded in her Venusaur’s direction, and it turned to face its opponent. Venusaur roared defiantly, it’s entire body beginning to glow with what was certainly the mother of all Solarbeams. However, the cataclysmic beam did not manifest, instead the light of mega-evolution shattered as Venusaur returned to its base form.

The announcer’s flag fell.

“Venusaur is unable to battle, the winner is the challenger, Nakano Saito!”

It was so surreal.

She... She won. No, they won.

The Sceptile had watched the Venusaur stagger and fall, the last few seconds having been terrifying as he didn't think he had the strength to dodge that Solar Beam and he would have certainly been hit by it.

But they won...

Just like that it was over. She was both in a constant state of thrill and fun that she barely noticed. She looked back at Ron, Gwen, Hana, and their Pokemon, smiling and waving at them. She looked back at Gardenia. Her head felt so dizzy. She collapsed on her knees, the emotional toll that took on her had her chuckling, then crying. Well, just slightly. But it was out of relief and joy.

She can do this.

Silenus saw his trainer collapse and he rushed to her side. Despite how badly his legs, wanted to give out, he still tried to pick up his trainer and get her to stand. She numbly stood back up with his help, then wrapped her arms around his neck and sobbed slightly in his shoulder, laughing a little in her crying. "We did it... We fuckin' did it..." Silenus smiled, holding her tight.

Chu - who had taken a sip of the soda from Hertz - found the taste absolutely amazing. But when the fight progressed to the last bit of Silenus versus Mega Venusaur, she was unusually silent. So when Naka won, she let out a grand cheer, even running through the boundaries to get to her trainer and crawl up her pant leg and up to her chest, nuzzling into her neck with happy squeaking. Naka chuckled, hugging Chu back with a hand. She wiped away her tears, looking back to see her Flareon, who was being tended to by Luz, stand up and actually let out a cheer. She's never seen him do that before.

He lightly headbutted Luz against her side to let her know he was going to leave but that he'll be back, before rushing headlong to Naka and jumping in her awaiting arms, not caring that there were people watching. It was as if the world stopped existing and it was only just her, her Pokemon, her friends, and her opponent.

It was exhilarating.

It made her want to cry again.

Letting go of her Pokemon, she gave Silenus affectionate scratches on the neck. She tried to return him, but he put his hand on the PokeBall and shook his head. Smiling, Naka jutted her head back to the stands, Chu giving her a little lick on the cheek before landing on Fluffy, who ran back to their friends. Fluffy felt a lot more relieved, rubbing himself along Luz in apparent happiness and a mega cuddling mood, while Chu went back to Marley to ask if she saw that and if she was proud of her trainer.

Naka walked over the marred battlefield, meeting up with Gardenia and bowing to her, still offering her respects despite having won. "Thank you for this honor and this amazing fight, Gardenia. I... I'm speechless, I don't know what else to say." She let out a chuckle. She felt herself crying again, her lip trembling and eyes misting up. She wiped her eyes quickly, shaking her head. "Sorry, I'm uh... I've never fought anyone stronger than the eighth gym in a normal gym circuit before. So, this is all very surprising to me. I-it honestly shouldn't be, because I trust everyone very much. I just didn't think I would get close and would end up disappointing my Pokemon..." She rambled, then shook her head. "But thank you." She said, gratitude in her voice which was starting to make her want to cry again.

Laura thought she was clever to set up first, but that feeling soon disappeared when she witnessed the Gym Leader Dynamax his pokemon. Hearing Milo’s words, the young woman was quick to act. “V-very well, we will do just that!” She yelled, extending her arm while holding Koffing’s pokeball. The light of the capsule returned the Poison type back into its ball. Right after, the Dynamax band around Laura’s wrist began to glow, enveloping the pokeball with its light.

Koffing’s pokeball began growing and changing form. Laura nearly dropped the ball as it grew, but was able to catch it with both hands. “Here we go!” Turning around, the young woman clumsily threw the massive pokeball behind her, letting out her now gigantic sized Koffing out on the field again.

By the time Koffing Dynamaxed, Eldegoss had already used its first move, Max Overgrowth. Many giant mushrooms began sprouting up all across the battlefield and setting up a Grassy Terrain as they burst. The grassy explosion also hit Koffin, but due to the type resistance, he was able to avoid taking massive damage. “Now it’s our turn! Max Strike!” Doing a spin in the air before violently crashing down on the ground, Koffing caused a massive wave of energy to erupt towards the opposing Eldegoss.

Milo was glad Laura was learning here and not the next gym leader, like Nessa. She had learn how to do a Dynamax and pull it off, since Dynamaxing was a whole part of battling in Galar. Everyone - aside from those in Spikemuth as they didn't have a Power Spot - must do it.

The Eldegoss took the Max Strike hit, her speed lowering. But that was fine. What wasn't fine was how strong that was. She was blown back a ways from the hit, but managed to re-right herself and float back to her position. She still had some fight in her left, but she was sure she couldn't take another Max Strike like that. Milo noticed the strength of that attack and knew they had to be more on guard so they don't take too much damage from that.

She awaited Koffing's next move, wondering if it was going to be the same powerful Max Strike. She acted as if she was going for a Max Strike herself, but the glow of her attack was only her Max Guard that she ended up using to block whatever the next attack was going to be, a shield enveloping her at the last moment she would be getting hit.

If the Koffing were to strike at all.

Eterna City Gym
Pokémon & Status: Venusaur {Item: Venusaurite}
Field Effect: Sun (3 turns) || Terrain: Grassy Terrain (4 turns) || Hazards: Sealth Rock (Gym Leader) | Spikes x1 (Challenger)

Gardenia met Naka in the middle of the field, she wore a warm smile. “Don’t thank me, thank your pokémon. They’re the ones who worked hard to get you here, to earn you this—” The gym leader held out her hand and presented a crystalline gym badge, one that seemed to be crafted from the clearest diamond.

“Congratulations on earning the prestige Forest Badge!”

"Keep challenging the prestige tier gym leaders who knows? You might end up receiving an invitation to the Gym Leader’s tournament in Unova. Then we can battle again, though I won’t be under gym leader restrictions.”

Gardenia laughed merrily and gave Naka a firm pat on the shoulder.

“You can collect the rest of your winnings from the receptionist. I’ve got another challenger to see to! ”

Aldon was hanging onto his bronzor, Bran. He grinned and attempted to hold a thumbs up at Desmond, but didn't wanna loosen his grip, so he held a low thumbs up. He then turned to see the blastoise. The others were trying to fight it. This group would need to distract it, if they wanted to keep the attack team alive and not on t-shirt. In the meantime Aldon's main goal was to distract the blastoise but also keep enough distance from it and stay moving. Wunder and Kricketune were not far behind.

Briar let out an excited squeal as she turned to face Claudia. Placing a hand on Adrianne's back, she gestured to Claudia. Then squatted down to pet Claudia. Her Clodsire smiled at her, then rolled over as if expecting a belly rub. Briar couldn't refuse that happy lil face and rubbed her soft lil belly.

"Ain't she just adorable...?" Briar said cheerfully as she continued rubbing her belly. Briar stood up to smile and nod at Addriane as she spoke. Then she mentioned how she wasn't too picky about what pokemon she wanted, when she heard a great choice. Briar smiled, then cleared her throat.

"Slowpoke sounds like an amazing choice! So adorable! I seen a few, back in Galar! I thought about catching one, but I already have six pokemon and I wouldn't wanna have to decide which ones I keep on my team or not!" She said grinning as she pet Baba. Baba adjusted her head so Briar would be scratching her chin. Baba shifted her gaze around at all the different pokemon to eventually land on Munna again. The flower pokemon that was trying to get her attention. Baba leaned in this time, to try touch Elvira's flower and trace her finger around the edges. She looked at the shiny haunter and stuck her equally blue tongue out at it.

"Sounds like a bit of a wild quest to go on just to get some proper sleep. Heck! I could probably recommend a drink that always helps me get a good night's sleep, sugar" Briar said, thinking about wine.

"Need some help? Come on out Maggie!" Briar said, sending her tentecruel out. Claudia did not like the water, so Briar returned her to her pokéballs. She went over to Maggie and climbed on her back. Baba repeatedly poked Maggie until Maggie slapped Baba with her tentacle. Baba retaliated by slapping Maggie, to which Maggie lifted Baba up, and plunging her into the water before safely placing her back next to Briar. An annoyed and soaking wet Baba crawled up Briar's arm, and hung from her shoulder.

Briar looked down at the continued match. Meanwhile Baba noticed the attention she was recieving from the blue gator pokemon. Baba squinted her eyes at the totodile. Cocking her head back, but not looking away from it for a moment. She scratched her chin as to figure out what to think of the pokemon. Shaking her head side to side as if to give some sort of disapproval. Even going as far as to give a finger wag as she waved a single finger in the air. Briar turned to look at Cole, then turned back to the fight so not to make direct eye contact.

"Thanks for the concern, sugar but I'm good" Briar let out a yawn and whiped her eyes. Though admittedly a nap did sound like something she could use. She leaned back in the stands. Sunglasses hid the fact that her eyes were closed. There was no way of telling she was asleep, until a few minutes of slumber, when she started to drool. Baba jumped down, and sat by Frida. Wrapping her arm around her favorite dog friend. Baba was mostly pointing at random stuff to get Frida's attention. Occasionally glancing back over at totodile. Baba didn't trust it for some reason. She had a hard time trusting anything that looked at her as much as she looked at them.

Nakano Saito

Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 17
Location: Eterna City Gym, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Ludwig the Ludicolo, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous, Silenus the Sceptile

Interactions: Gardenia and Venusaur (kyuukestu), Ron Towers, Luz the Espeon, and Marley the Kantonian Raichu (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker, Ozzy the Deino, and Cobalt the Piplup (IDKWhatUserNameToDo), Hana Ikarri, Hertz the Noibat, Majesty the Servine, and Levy the Munna (JoyPaws)

Naka stifled another happy sob, seeing the shiny Forest Badge that was now in her possession. She earned it.

They earned it.

With another low bow, she took the Forest Badge and held her hand for a handshake, finally regaining herself to speak somewhat normally. "No no, I'm serious. Yes, my Pokemon will get their proper thanks, but this is just the start of my journey of healing, Gardenia. You have no idea how much this one battle means to me. Thank you. I'm glad you were the first one to help me see my worth."

She felt her hands tingle upon holding it. This was really not a dream. She was here, she was doing this, she was capable.

She chuckled when Gardenia even played with the idea of seeing her at the Gym Leader's tournament and she laughed. "I dunno about that, but that's going to be one hell of a goal to strive for." She let go of her hands and let nodded before departing. "Thank you so much, Gardenia. Hopefully, I get to see you later, whether on the other side of the battlefield or just as people."

She then ran off, her Sceptile running with her to collect her prize at the receptionist but to also help shield her from people. Even though his legs felt like jelly. Putting her Forest Badge somewhere safe, she went to the receptionist and got her fat stack of moolah from it.

But then... There were people. So many people. They all wanted to know what her next prestige gym fight will be, but Naka could barely get ahold of herself. First, she had the most emotional battle she had ever had, now she had the news after her???

Her Sceptile's mean, yet calm gaze helped to part the crowd for her, as well as his strong body keeping her from being touched or pulled away. She still had her backpack on, so all she had to do was leave.

Right, if the crowd would let her.

Silenus gripped her shoulder and walked her outside of the gym building, only to then help her turn a corner. Jumping on Sceptile's back, he winced at his legs didn't seem to want to budge, but he then darted off and away, disappearing in the woods to avoid the people, only to reappear through an alleyway and be at the Pokemon Center.

Sighing, she walked in and began healing her Pokemon, but the event of her battle had traveled to the center, as well. People were congratulating her on her win. Having needing to return her Sceptile, she gave the lady her Pokemon. She went into the bathroom to change, putting away her lab coat and wrapping her camouflage jacket around her waist again. She stared at the Forest Badge, glistening in the bathroom light as she shuddered and cried again.

This really was happening... Wasn't it...?

.......

Meanwhile, Fluffy and Chu watched as their trainer rushed to the receptionist counter and... Didn't come back. Assuming she needed to go to the Pokemon Center, Chu and Fluffy squeaked and barked up at Gwen, Ron, and Hana (with Chu waving at Hana to get her attention), and making a gesture for all of them to follow her. The Pichu then rushed off, with Fluffy staying beside Luz and partly guiding her and partly protecting her from the now leaving crowd to get them out of the gym and over to the Pokemon Center.

Azumi, why is there a hard sock under your bed?, Towers-

"Really? I'm glad to hear that." She sighed with relief, knowing she had acquired a group to travel with. "Well I just have to send my paperwork, they want me there as soon as I'm ready. So I'm planning on taking a break for maybe a month. I don't want to get too comfortable and not want to work." She lied, that was impossible for her.

As they stepped into the door, Azumi's eyes scanned the store, looking for the more casual section. "Any recommendations for what I should wear if we're going to travel? I don't know how to camp, should I buy pijamas? Tennis shoes are good, but won't hiking boots be better? One or two sweaters? What kind?" She bit her bottom lip and sighed, "This is a dilemma."

Ron, almost adopted another kid, Towers.

"Alright Gwen, let's go." Ron said as he stood up.

Up until when Naka had won, he had been more relaxed and quiet. He wasn't expecting her to disappear though and now they were stuck with a big crowd trying to leave or switch seats. He returned Marley to her PokeBall and made sure Luz walked between him and Fluffy while keeping Gwen close on the other side. Last thing he needed was to also lose Gwen. Because she had the Rotom Phone of course.

"Stay close." Ron said as he made way by pushing through the crowd, there were some complains, but most kept their mouth shut as soon as they saw who was moving them out of the way.

Finally, they stepped out of the stadium, watching Chu running towards the Pokemon Center. "Gwen, you should go get Naka at the Center. I'll wait for you guys out here, had enough crowded areas for today."

‘Rough, like coarse leather.’ That was Esther’s first thought as her bare feet touched Blastoise’s head. Her next thought was ‘ohGodohcrapohJesusoh—"

Blastoise lurched underfoot and the Oblivian was almost tumbled, head-over-heels, two stories down, and straight to her almost certain demise. Esther scrambled for any purchase and her hands found the flaps of a leathery-blue ear. In retrospect, it was a dumb idea to jump onto Blastoise knowing her friends were about to flip it over; but on second thought...Esther could feel her heart; it was in her chest, in her throat, in her ears.

It was electrifying! She knew in her heart of hearts that given the choice again, she would somehow find herself dangling off the ear of a two-story Blastoise. This kind of rush couldn’t be beaten! The maniacal on Esther’s lip beggared disbelief, but she wiped it away. It was time to get to work!

“Halay! Pyrrha! Blow out its ears!”

Esther’s most trusted pokémon flashed into being atop Blastoise’s head, their claws finding purchase where Esther’s feet could not.

July 2 - Lumiose City, Kalos

Monty's boots landed heavily on the store's hardwood floors, and his eyes inquisitorily shifted back and forth. The inside was like the opposite of Beware of the Granbull; tidy, organized, and brightly lit. Not many corners or huge displays that someone could hide behind, but the sparse population of customers inside more or less eliminated that possibility in the first place.

The exit was behind them, but the huge floor-to-ceiling windows would give him a heads-up if anyone was coming in. They were in the clear.

The criminal breathed a sigh of relief, and hovered around Azumi as he did some browsing of his own. "If we have to camp, I usually just sleep in my pants from that day. Easier to get up and moving if there's an emergency that way. If you're gonna be with us, though, Oracle and Chauffemagne keep a solid enough watch that you'd have plenty of warning if you needed to change." The sound of the Houndour pack howling in the shadows rang in his ears, but Monty pushed it out quickly.

The Lumiosite passed over the pajamas and drifted toward the footwear. Should he get a new pair of boots? His current pair were well-worn, designed for work, but maybe Azumi had the right idea with a proper hiking boot.

Monty picked up a pair, and raised his voice a little as he thought aloud, "My boots serve me well. I wouldn't trade 'em for sneakers, but it's the socks that make all the difference. They'll hurt like hell if you don't have enough cushion to blah blah blah..."

Oracle was tuning out of her trainer's rambling, and fast. This place wasn't nearly as interesting as that other store they'd went to. She saw nothing that would befit the collection of a queen, and if they hadn't such a thing then what was the point of being there?!

Oh! Perhaps they kept their more glamorous items further into the building? Of course they would! The greatest of treasures are not to be enjoyed by the basest of eyes, after all. The Absol glanced up at Monty as he put down the footwear in his hand. The basest of eyes...

Forget useless Monty and observant Azumi! Oracle had treasures to find! She silently padded away from the humans, keeping her red eyes peeled for a sign of regal value.

Garments for legs? No.
Strange overcoats mimicking fur? Absolutely not. Anything besides her own coat, especially after the wonderful treatment it received at the spa, would be a poor imitation.
Strips of cloth for one's shoulders? Where did humans come up with such frivolities. Just grow fur!

Oracle was seriously doubting that this store held any semblance of the treasure she sought. Typical useless Monty, so eager to reach a place of lesser value! Oh! But what was this? A corridor?

The Absol came to a crossroads of sorts. Plaques were nailed above two branching paths, each adorned with the innane markings that humans seemed to plaster all over their dwellings. Perhaps this was where the treasure was kept!

She opted for the path on the left, first. It led to a row of doors, some open and some closed. Their secrets were her's to uncover!

Treasure? No. The first room did hold some sort of reflective surface, though, and Oracle took a moment to admire her beauty. How resourceful of these humans, to lug a sliver of that cave's walls all the way here! Oh, how she enjoyed bullying the pokémon there.

Treasure? No, same as before. This room held another sliver of Reflection Cave, and the only other thing of note was a pair of the triangular sticks which humans hung their faux-furs from. Did humans have a name for such things? She would call them...hangers!

Oracle popped her head out of the hanger-room at the sound of a door cracking open. Someone must be transferring the treasures! She crept up to the now-open door and swung her head around to investigate.

Treasure?
"EEK!"

AH!
Oracle's hackles rose at the girl's startled shriek. She was right about there being someone transferring something, but all this girl had was more faux-fur on hangers! The Absol gave her a parting glare and stalked off. There was no treasure this way! Hopefully she'd have better luck down the other corridor.

The Absol returned to the crossroads and took the right hand corridor. Her last hope was held with this path being the one to treasure!

But what was this? A voice? No, voices? Keepers of the treasure, perhaps?

"-ank you for seeing me so soon, monsieur."
"
The pleasure is mine. Now is this a formal affair, or casual?"
"Formal. The launch party for Besnard Pharmacueticals' new product."

These were no keepers of treasure!

Oracle's hopes were dashed in an instant as she emerged into a room closely resembling that fur-worker's basement up Menhir Trail. Each wall was covered in fancy-looking faux-furs, suits as she once heard Monty call them, save for one that bore a much larger sliver of Reflection Cave. At the center of the room stood two men, both older than Monty but one much so, and the older one seemed to be taking measurements of the old-but-still-younger one.

Wait, Oracle knew that man! If there was no treasure to be found here, she might as well show off her new horn adornment!

"Very good sir. Any lining?"
"The works. If things go south, I might need IT!"

Both men jumped as Oracle appeared beside them, having silently padded over. She proudly turned her head to show off the gold bracelet at the base of her horn, completely oblivious to the shock she gave them, and the younger old-man laughed heartily once he recovered.

"You gave me quite the fright, mademoiselle! Oh, comme tu es belle! Lovely jewelry, Oracle!" The man crouched down to get a better look at the Absol, and she loved every second of it. "Say, is your trainer here?"

Hana Ikarry
June 17
Eterna City Gym

Hana looked at the Pichu and shook her head and looked over to her pokemon and slapped her thigh to get their attention. The Noibat, Munna, Jigglypuff and Servine all turned to look at their master. Hana pulled out Hertz and Melody's pokeballs, making Hertz frown at Hana looking rather annoyed but quickly said a goodbye to the Raichu and Pichu and then hoped over to Hana and went into his pokeball. Hana put Melody also in a pokeball and then stood up.

Hana looked at Gwen and Ron saying, "I'm sorry but I have to go now. Please tell Naka for me that It great getting to meet her and I wish her so much luck in the future!" She smiled and put her backpack on. She gave one last goodbye and started to head off to who knows where.

Majesty followed his master happily as the Servine would usually do. Majesty would follow Hana to the ends of the earth if he had too along with the rest of Hana's pokemon but Majesty especially would. Levy followed Hana too of course floating behind her happily as ever.

((OOC: This should be my last post for this rp! Sorry I have to leave but it was great getting to RP with everyone!!))

Pokemon on field: Dendro the Roserade - Fainted
Item: N/A
Status: N/A
Field Effect: Sandstorm
Winner: Ezio Farello

Kaden's lips tensed into a thin line as he simply watched Dendro fall to the Steelix's Earthquake. The Bouquet pokemon fell to the ground type attack, unable to take any more damage after both Stealth Rock and the Gyro ball. The Coordinator returned his Roserade to his pokeball and gave it a small pat before attaching it to his belt with his other fainted pokemon, "Thank you everyone," he said before turning to Ezio and walked over to the Ruin Maniac to shake his hand.
"Thank you for the battle. It's not often I battle like this, but it's good to mix things up every now and them," Kaden said with a smile, "Hope you liked what you saw from Etna in action,"

Lara Brook - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar
"I haven't watched bird pokemon specifically no.. More like pokemon in general. Whenever I had time I liked to go out and about and see my environment around me. The pokemon as they went on about their day, getting food, meandering about or what have you. Haven't had much time for that recently, but this feels nice. To sit down and let the enviorment around you absorbe you," Lara explained before she closed her eyes to better listen to all the Rookidee chirps and other pokemon cries that echoed in the area and feel the gentle gust of wind tussle her hair slightly. She missed these types of moments..

Gwen Tucker - 17th of June - Eterna Gym, Eterna City, Sinnoh
Gwen watched the battle with wide eyes, way too absorbed in the fight. It was all too intense and nail biting. Then the Venusaur came out. It wasn't any ordinary Seed Pokemon either but Gardenia's Mega Pokemon. It felt like Gwen was about to fall out of her seat as the dust settled and Naka was declared the winner of the match.

"FUCK YEAH!" Gwen yelled from the top of her lungs and continued to cheer until Ron ushered her to get up and go over to Naka. Due to the amount of people in the seats and trying to get out at the same time, the blue haired girl thought it would be best for her to return both Cobalt and Ozzy to their pokeballs. She did turn to Hana before getting up and going and gave the girl a nod, "Will do and good luck with your own trainer career!" she said and gave her a quick wave before noticing that Ron had almost disappeared into the crowd. Rushing forward she managed to catch up with the punk and kept close to him until they got to the field where she rushed to Naka.

"You won Naka! We both won! But your battle was just so much more... Of everything!" the young girl exclaimed but before she could do anything else she had dissapeared from the Gym building. She watched as Naka's Pichu ran towards the Pokecenter and Gwen gave Ron a firm nod and ran to the Pokemon center. People were in there, but Naka was no where to be seen. The young trainer then decided to check the bathroom and there the woman was... Crying? Gwen wasn't sure what to do, but she walked over and hugged Naka by wrapping her arms around her torso, not sure really what else to do, but she wanted to try and comfort her.

"You did it.. You won," the young girl then said in a more calm tone, but did her best to give Naka a bright and supporting smile.

Azumi Towers- Lumiose, Kalos - July 2nd

"Sleep in your pants?" Azumi raised one eyebrow and pressed her lips together, "That sounds uncomfortable."

She saw Oracle walking way, leaving her wondering if she should have showed Oracle were the jewelry was. The a very important question came to her mind, one she had never had the need to ask before and would guess Monty knew the answer.

"Excusez-moi monsieur Montagne, I have an important question regarding all of this..." She placed the tip of her finger to her chin and looked around the store, like if trying to find the answer before asking for it, "What kind of underwear do you suggest? I figured I might as well change my entire wardrobe to be the best for traveling needs. Would you mind if we stop by my dorm after this? I would have to pack." She sighed, "What kind of underwear do you use? Or, should I ask someone else?"

Montagne Khastil
July 2 - Lumiose City, Kalos

Azumi bringing up Monty's underwear was almost as bad as having to spill his whole life's story to her at the restuarant. Rosy-red tinged his cheeks, and he answered, "Well, uh, I wear boxers. They're...breathable. Better for doing work, or being outside for a long while. Esther might be able to point you in a better direction, if she ever shows up."

Now that he thought of it, he should grab a pack of boxers while they were here. Monty went back to his selections, having already picked up a pack of undershirts and a new white cotton button-up. "Whaddyou think of these pants, Orac—"

Where'd she go? The Absol was right beside him, but she disappeared. Monty's eyes swept the store for her, but they came up empty. Whatever, she couldn't have gone far. He'd just have to keep an ear out in case she got herself into trouble.

"-gratulations on your win in Santalune, as well! I heard all about it."

Oh, shit. Monty knew that voice anywhere, and hearing it made the color drain from his face. He gripped the pack of shirts tight and took a calming breath, and turned to its source.

The back of the store bore splitting corridors, one leading to the changing rooms and the other to the suit-fitting room, and from the latter emerged Oracle and a tall man with olive skin, a close-kept beard, and impeccable fashion sense.

Antoine, the Old Guard's second lieutenant and Cormier's chief intel gatherer, had his sights set on Monty and Azumi; the worst case scenario. Monty saw his gaze flash between them repeatedly, as if trying to figure out if they were together, before it fixed on him.

"Montagne!" Antoine called as he crossed the store, and Monty nodded as he moved to meet him in the middle. It was damage control time. There was no way to keep Azumi's attention off the lieutenant, but maybe he could keep Antoine's attention off of her.

"Antoine, long time no see." The men shared a firm handshake and locked eyes. Antoine was reading him, Monty knew it, but the younger criminal stayed calm. No reason to give him something he could use.

"What's a couple of weeks, eh? I hear you've been busy."
"Working hard, yeah. Right, Oracle?"

The Absol was completely uninterested now that Antoine had seen her new jewelry, and ignored her trainer as she padded over to Azumi. Perhaps she knew where the treasures were kept?

"Working hard?" Antoine echoed Monty's words as his eyes tracked Oracle to Azumi. They fluttered back to Monty, a hint of inquisitoriality behind them. "Aren't we all?" The lieutenant broke off from Monty and made a beeline for Oracle and Azumi, and Monty followed after him.

"Miss Esther, I presume?" Antoine bent forward a little and stuck his hand out, intending to take Azumi's and give it a soft kiss. "I appreciate you looking after my nephew the past couple of days."

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

As Adrianne watched as Briar gave her Clodsire a belly rub, she seemed to fall in love. Her eyes widened and practically had hearts in them as this might've been one of the cutest things she had ever seen! "Oh yes she is so precious~" Adrianne beamed in affirmation towards Briar.

She then listened as Briar seemed to go on a passionate speech about the Slowpoke as she had to say she made quite the convincing pitch, while she had no way to guarantee she'd catch one she'd least keep this info in the back of her mind as she smiled at this trainer. "I'll be sure to try and shoot for that if I can, either way hope I can make a new companion today~" Adrianne said with a smile before Reggie seemed to advance to the shore and she had intended to pull out Gyarados when Briar seemed to offer a hand to them.

"Huh? Oh no it's fine we...woah!" Adrianne called out, as Briar seemed to summon a Tentacruel and offered it to help them sail out for fishing as she seemed to look on in aww before she pulled her Pokedex to scan it.

"Tentacruel, the Jellyfish Pokémon. Its 80 tentacles absorb water and stretch almost endlessly to constrict its prey and enemies."

Adrianne glanced at the Water Type and then over to Reggie. "So what do you think, want to ride a Tentacruel or prefer to keep it on Ivy's ride?" Adrianne asked as she seemed tempted to take Briar's offer and give Gyarados a break but she had left it up to him.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Kricketune had kept close to Wunder as it relied on the Psychic Pokemon to provide a lift given its own wings seemed more used to short term gliding at best, it had been more of a performer than a battler admittedly as they sailed behind Aldon and Desmond as Desmond had clung to his glider for dear life while Politoed had been busy raining Mud Shots around the face and eyes of the Blastoise.

Desmond had tried to just keep his heart from pounding itself through his chest, as he knew he needed to wait for the burn to fade before he and Aldon had been able to get Kricketune into position.

Azumi, boxers it is, Towers

While the Kalosian contemplated what to do regarding the underwear situation, Monty was met by a well dressed and polite man. Her curiosity peeked, not only did she admire his choice for clothes but his manners were what she expected from a good man. "Welcome back." Azumi gave Oracle a quick word, before stepping forward to greet the man.

The officer in training offered her hand and allowed the man to kiss, something she was quite used to and wondered why many didn't greet the traditional way. The way the man spoke and moved didn't gave away any uncomfortable vibes, even Monty seemed calm about it, so Azumi had no reason to suspect.

"My apologies, Monsieur, I'm afraid you've confused me with someone else. My name is Azumi Towers. I'm an acquaintance of monsieur Montage. We're planning on traveling together. It's a pleasure to meet you. If I may, I truly admire your suit."

Azumi bowed her head to the man and greeted him with a smile. While some feet away, Nana's senses perked up, having her turn with a suspicious look in direction of her trainer.

Nakano Saito

Date: July 19 (26yo)
Location: Yellow Rock Beach, Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Archipelago, Johto
Pokemon Team: Mudster the Swampert, Iwa the Wishiwashi, Aero the Aerodactyl, Hattie the Hatterene, Silenus the Sceptile, Yuki the Froslass, Tochi the Parasect

Interactions: Blastoise, Esther, Pyrrha the Jangmo-o, and Halay the Houndour (kyuukestu), Reina, Peque the Swampert, and Storm the Lapras (Hecotoro), Eveline, Conquest the Sharpedo, and Revengeance the Pawniard (GQuasch), Aldon, Wunder the Sigilyph, and Bran the Bronzor (ThAtGuY101), Desmond, Politoed, and Kricketune (Godjacob), Rick and Iris the Kantonian Rapidash (Ridge)

Hatterene made sure to keep an eye on Esther, Desmond, Aldon, their Pokemon, and Iris. She watched as the flying Rapidash charged at the belly, Esther with Desmond and his Politoed flying on the Wingull paraglider and Esther jumping onto the head as it fell, and Sigilyph carrying Desmond's Kricketune and Bronzor carrying Aldon as they got closer to its head. Eveline's Sharpedo charged, as well, gnashing at its leg with Pawniard slashing away. The vines from Silenus's Frenzy Plant peeked over the water's surface as Reina's and Naka's combined efforts managed to make the legs unsteady, which had the Blastoise finally falling over.

Hovering over the head of the now fallen over Blastoise, she glared as the girl pulled out two Pokemon to damage its face. Why? They were going to put it to sleep, weren't they? Even that Politoed was firing off Mud Shots at its eyes to blind it. Wouldn't that make it attack more? Shaking her head, she created a «Light Screen», but it was shaped into a funnel for sound that she created right over its ear. Then, once that was in place, she made sure the Kricketune and Sigilyph were near enough. As soon as they were, a green mist flew from her body, healing the Blastoise's burn with «Aromatherapy». At that exact moment, she let out a screech, alerting the Kricketune and Sigilyph to put it to sleep now.

Meanwhile, as the Blastoise fell over, Naka returned her Sceptile to prevent him from choking on water. In that same instance, her Swampert and Wishiwashi swam her between the legs to get away, the wave caused by the falling Blastoise had pushed her further.

As Naka was sent upwards, she looked around for Reina and her two Pokemon. Hoping she was okay, she focused on getting up and onto the shell.

Once she was on top, she found some of his skin was on top of the water. Jumping from her Swampert's back, she returned them and sent out her Parasect. The little mushroom crab looked around, confused, only to realize she was on the underbelly of the Pokemon's shell. Panicking, she sensed it had a burn, but looking up she noticed the Hatterene had used Aromatherapy and then told a Kricketune and Sigilyph to put it to sleep. Not wasting any time, Naka commanded her Parasect. "Help them put it to sleep. Go to the ear and use «Confide»." She knew it wasn't affecting its Attack, but it was going to make his Special Attacks weaker.

Spraying «Spore» as the Parasect scuttled with surprising speed over the underside of the shell to aid in putting the thing to sleep, she jumped up to his face and went up to the other ear that didn't have Hatterene's improvised Light Screen funnel, and dodged the Jangmo-o's Dragon Tail and Houndour's Thunder Fang to use a battle-ready Confide in the Blastoise's ear.

While her Parasect was doing that, she took out her needle and felt the leathery, thick skin of the Blastoise to find some weakness. Finding some deep scratches caused by Silenus's Frenzy Plant and noticing it dug into the skin but didn't damage it enough to bleed, she chose that spot to put her sharp needle. Once she got the tube onto the drawing needle, she carefully put the needle in, putting in enough force to break through the skin without completely breaking the tube. Blood began to pool in the tube.

Nakano Saito

Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 17
Location: Eterna City Pokemon Center -> Streets, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Ludwig the Ludicolo, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous, Silenus the Sceptile

Interactions: Ron Towers and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker (IDKWhatUserNameToDo)

Fluffy kept close to Luz as they walked out, and he sat down beside her and Ron once they were outside. Chu led Gwen to the Pokemon Center, then sniffed the air. Finding her trainer's scent, she rushed into the bathroom, finding her trainer curled up against the bathroom wall, silently sobbing to herself as she looked over the glittering Forest Badge.

Naka heard Gwen's words, but she couldn't celebrate when there were still so many people nearby. She felt pretty bad for leaving those two like that, but she needed to get away from the crowds.

But wait... If that was televised... Then whoever was trying to start up Team Rocket would know she was here... And not only that, she remembered all those people chanting out "Guardian Researcher" like there was no tomorrow. Whoever was smart enough to start digging would realize she was a huge threat. She wondered if they knew Ron was here... And if Gwen was with her...

The sweet relief of victory and that she can be better had her breathing easy, but the revelation that they weren't out of the woods yet had her anxious again, but for a completely different reason. They were now looking. She can feel it. If she were in their shoes, she'd be searching for any strong, nosy competitors like herself.

Then, Gwen arrived, with her Pichu. Smiling up at her, she wiped away her tears and welcomed the hug, resting an arm against her back and holding her close. As much as she didn't want kids of her own, just traveling around and finding kids to help really was something she sort of lived for. "I did." She chuckled, sighing as she looked at her Forest Badge. "I didn't think I was capable... I knew my Pokemon were strong. I have just been so focused on research and running from any and all press that I thought I would let them down if I choked up. Sorry for running away like that." She chuckled, ruffling Gwen's head. "I couldn't stay around the press. But I think we have an issue. Let's get out of here."

Standing up, Chu returned to her rightful spot on Naka's shoulder. She made sure Gwen was following her as she went back out to the lobby, grabbed her Pokemon, and asked to be led out the back door. Agreeing, Naka gestured for Gwen to follow her until they left through the back door of the Pokemon Center.

Successfully evading the large crowd that had plastered itself at the front of the Pokemon Center - waiting for Naka to come out the front - Naka released her Sceptile. The Grass-Type stretched and yawned, then looked down to see his trainer and Gwen. Letting out an appreciative purr, he bent down to press his head against Naka's chest, Naka hugging him and burying her face against the top of his head. "Thanks, bud..." With a clicking purr, the Sceptile stood back up, then turned to show his side and squatted low to the ground, a hand on the ground to keep his upper body parallel to the ground.

"Wanna ride on Silenus?" Naka smiled, taking a seat near the Sceptile's lower back between the last two sets of yellow seeds to give Gwen some room in front of her - still between the last two sets of yellow seeds. "Just hold on to his shoulders." Silenus looked at Gwen expectantly, wanting to get out of here as quick as they can and find Ron.

"The Guardian Researcher Proves Her Strength..." A low, feminine voice muttered in a dimly lit office space, the only light sources were from the blue shine of a phone's screen and a crackling fire coming from a fire place, the hearth's bricks keeping the fire's heat in while warming the room with a soft orange glow.

"Gardenia's defeat at the hands of the 'Guardian Researcher'... Where will she go next...?" While one hand held the phone to illuminate the face of an angular-faced woman, the other idly pet the soft, short furs of her purple and beige feline Pokemon laying on her lap. "Hmm... Nakano Saito..." The light blue eyes pierced the picture showing the woman, a sickening grin showing off her sharp canines. "Where will you go next...?"

"Ma'am!" A grunt wearing his traditional Team Rocket uniform rushed through the closed door, earning a sharp sigh from the long, fiery, wild-haired woman.

"Learn to knock." She sternly said, but the tone held an edge that had the rocket member's knees buckling in fear as he stood straight to show respect.

"U-uh... Right, apologies, Ms. Leona. We have news." There was a silence. The man continued. "We'll be cutting through Route 217. The police are starting to get suspicious. I think they found our tracks coming in through Mt. Coronet's east side. There's now patrol routes watching the side we just came from, and they've sent some officers to follow the tracks, but our swift entrance to the snowy route and climbing the steep mountainside left them unable to follow us. We also have new information on this Guardian Researcher."

"I know her." Leona said, eyes on her Liepard as she continued to stroke the back of the feline, the purple cat purring loudly.

"Wh-... What?"

"You heard me." The derision in her tone was all he needed to change his tone.

"S-sorry, miss. I wasn't sure how informed you were about her and I wanted to give some information I found about her."

"If it's about her being a researcher and her work in making it difficult to lay any sturdy foothold here, then yes. I'm well aware. Her unpredictable traveling patterns makes it difficult to even set our roots anywhere, and she's always suspicious when she sees something new. I thought it was funny that she thought the guys who made the Poketch were evil because they made their new touch screen brand. She's wearing one now, so she likely doesn't believe they are evil anymore." Leona mused, a silly smirk on her face in remembering that whole debacle. "I don't think she recognized me in the crowd, but man... Was she snooping around that business property. I was surprised she didn't get into trouble, but I guess that's what happens when you're one of Rowan's head field researchers and as strong as a first time league champion. She may not realize it, but I know her very well." She sighed. "I'm a bit upset she didn't recognize me in the crowd. We've had school together."

"... Miss, the recruits we were supposed to handle in the Old Chateau... They've been caught by this same Guardian Researcher. I think she had help, though. One of our moles went into the prisons to ask questions about who they saw. They said there was a blue-haired man with a huge Blastoise, and a blue-haired girl with a Piplup. One of them had their Rotom Phones stolen."

There was silence, and the grunt felt himself sweat.

"If I know her, she'll be running into Route 217 and then Snowpoint to get away from the press. I doubt she'd go for the prestige battle against Candice, as that will cause more attention to be on her. She won, but she's not egotistical. She will take her time in this matter and not blitz through the prestige gym challenge, even if she had a huge advantage with Infernape. But I also know Candice isn't that stupid. Unfortunately, if Gardenia had any battles with this blue-haired girl for that badge, there was no headline on the news nor video of such. So, we have no information if Ms. Saito is traveling with them. However, I will assume she isn't traveling alone."

"What about the police? If they talk to anyone in Snowpoint, they'll-" He immediately stopped as he saw Leona glance in his direction. Sighing, she stood up, her Liepard letting out an annoyed mewl that she wasn't getting her petting in anymore and the cat glared at the man for being the source of the distraction, sitting by her trainer's heel. The light showed off her casual wear. White pants, sandals, a red t-shirt, and an open blue jacket, her hair going down to her mid-back.

"Don't worry about that. Don't cut through Route 217. Instead, go up to Snowpoint, on the edges of Lake Acuity. We have a few people in Snowpoint City to make sure everything is covered and watched over. Also, send a recruitment message to all interested members' phones on the north end of Sinnoh. Location? Lake Acuity. This will include the phone she took..." She paused, eyes narrowing. "Give me a task force. We're going out in Route 217."

"But ma'am, there's going to be a blizzard."

"Exactly." Her grin placated the grunt's worry, and instead gave him a determined stare.

"Alright, I'll set up the task force. What do you need?"

Leona smiled. "Just enough to create a diversion. So I can meet her. One on one."

~~~~~~~
A moment after Naka offered Gwen a ride on her Sceptile, Naka heard a phone buzz.
It wasn't hers.
Mentions: Wilford Pine and Thwackey (sSoul), Milo and Lombre
The Totodile didn't like this Grafaiai. It kind of intimidated her. Why did it look so funny? Why was she shaking her head like that? Getting a tug on the spine of her tail from Cole, the Totodile went back to watch the fight. Staring was rude after all. Cole had kept a close eye on this lady and her two Pokemon, finally relaxing some when she seemed to be asleep. Though, that meant that the weird poison lemur and the Smeargle were not being watched. Hopefully, they stick to themselves. It wouldn't be his fault if they somehow fell down the steep wall that led to the outer ring of the gym stadium.
Reggie beamed seeing the little Clodsire roll over. Huh, maybe there were other Ghost-Types where this lady came from. He'd have to go check. Maybe he can collect them all... Figure out which ones the best...
Yeah, but that was a lot of work, not to mention all those feeding bills.
Sighing, he listened about this Slowpoke thing, but decided it didn't quite pique his interest. Briar's attempt at trying to make the whole insomnia thing light-hearted had him smiling slightly, but she didn't understand and he was starting to lose his patience quickly. Was it the lack of sleep making him irritable? He had no idea.
As they walked to the shore and Briar said she wanted to help, she sent out a Tentacruel. Well, she was helpful. Reggie decided why not, and he shrugged. "Why not? Might as well give Professor Ivy's Gyarados rest." He looked at the Tentacruel and saw how it handled the Grafaiai with a chuckle. He climbed up her back right after Briar, holding out his hand for Adrianne to help her up so they may surf to some proper areas to get some surfing done.
"Once I cast my line, I'm gonna take a nap." He announced, hoping that Grafaiai won't keep him up.
Monty watched helplessly as Antoine did what he did best— gathered information. Azumi already surrendered her name, and if he didn't make a move soon then who knew what else the lieutenant could get out of her. He had to make a move, and fast.
"Likewise, Ms. Towers, and I truly admire your eyes. Not many appreciate the wonders Gerard works here." Antoine stood back to his full height and tugged his blue suit coat for extra emphasis. The older man cracked a grin and put a hand up next to his mouth, feigning sharing a secret with Azumi. "If you'll be together for long, I must warn you: Monty here can be a bit of a handful."
The lieutenant dropped his hand a shot Monty, who'd caught up to him and maneuvered himself into a sort of traingular position between the other two, a cheeky grin.
"We may not be together long. Azumi's still finishing school, yeah?" The younger criminal split his focus between Antoine, then Azumi. A risky play, but hopefully she wouldn't elaborate on what she was doing after she graduated.
"Oh, an academic? I'm afraid I never had the smarts for higher education." Antoine shook his head like he was lamenting the truth in his statement, then continued, "May I ask what you're studying for?"
Shit, he should've seen that coming.
Azumi Towers-
She felt flattered by the compliment on her eyes and couldn't help but giggle a bit to Monty's comment.
"Oh really? Well he seems like a kind man." Her eyes switched to Monty for a second before going back to the lieutenant. "Yes monsieur, indeed I actually just finished my course, graduation is next and then time to join society." As she was about to reply to his latest question, her manners got the better of her. "Excuse me, I don't believe I caught your name?"
Thank Xerneas for Azumi! The delicate dance of information wasn't over yet, though. The woman's inadvertently clever footwork was a god send, but Monty knew better than anyone how good Antoine's moves were.
"You're quite right, mademoiselle. I'm Antoine." The man flashed another brilliant-white smile, and glanced down at his right wrist. "Ah, time flies when you make the acquaintence of a lovely lady like yourself. I'll have to be going, you know how it is—" Antoine's almond-brown eyes locked with Monty's steel-grays. "—places to be, people to see. Au revoir, and, charmed to meet you Ms. Azumi Towers."
Monty watched Antoine depart with held breath. That could have gone worse, but he wasn't out of the woods. The lieutenant drew a flip phone from his pocket when he hit the sidewalk. Cormier would be hearing all about his new travel companion.
Monty turned back to Azumi, trying his best to play off the encounter. "He's one of my uncles. Good guy, if not, uh, busy."
Azumi Towers
"Well it was a pleasure monsieur Antoine." Azumi smiled back at the man and waved as he left.
"Really?" Her smile disappeared, "One of your uncles..."
Nana arrived with Lily, holding a sun hat. "Really Nana? You already got something." While Azumi looked at Nana's new item while the Gardevoir glared at the leaving man and then at Monty, he might be able to physically hide his anguish, but she could feel it.
"Fine, we can take it." She sighed and turned her attention back to Monty. "He seemed really nice. Too bad he had to go, I feel it would've been really interesting to have a conversation with him. Alas, so, we're choosing shoes?"
Briar laid there asleep with her eyes not completely closed for some reason. However she was asleep plain as day. Baba was bored by this point and laid her head on Briar's lap. Frida looked over at Baba and patted her on the shoulder as the monkey went to sleep. Now silence. Mostly. Baba made gurgling noises as she slept.
As Briar glanced over at Adrianne, she grinned and scooted over to make more room.
"Sure thing, hun! Hop on! Maggie is a strong girl, she can lift us" Briar said patting Maggie on the top of the head. Maggie turned to the side which Briar wasn't sitting on. Baba was fast asleep, head resting on Briar's shoulder. Which was great cause had she stayed awake, she probably would have ruined Reggie's chances of. Nap. Baba's ears twitched, and every so often her leg would twitch. Briar looked out in the deep blue wondering what pokémon they'd see first.
"Right, shoes." Monty drifted back to the footwear section, eager to change the subject and terribly conscious of his misstep. Of course he'd be the one to let slip something he shouldn't have. He could've just as easily said Antoine was any number of things, but confirming him as uncle placed the lieutenant firmly into the backstory he'd given Azumi only a little while earlier.
Oracle clung to Monty's side as he picked through the displayed boots, and returned the glare Nana was giving her trainer. Just who did the Gardevoir think she was glaring at? It couldn't possibly be Oracle's trainer, her royal attendant. Did Nana not get a clue when she saw the regal jewelry adorning her horn?!
"I think I'll spring for the hiking boots." Monty finally decided, hefting a durable brown leather pair. "Gonna be a lot of walking in the near future, eh?" Oracle glanced up in annoyance at him, as if to say 'there better not be', but her trainer's comments were directed toward Azumi.
Azumi Towers
"Of course, what would be the point of traveling if we aren't going to see everything we can." Azumi was looking through the boots herself, not really her style though, so she switched to sneakers. "Does this mean you have camping gear? I was thinking a sleeping bag, but I don't know if we plan to get hotel rooms every night. I also heard you can stay at Pokemon Centers."
"Oh these look nice." She picked up a pair of classic red converse. "I heard these are very comfortable. Oh, would we need a bathing suit?"
Nana looked away from Oracle's glare, she had no beef with the dark type. Lily on the other hand just looked around, getting amazed by all the human accessories available.
Gwen Tucker - 17th of June - Eterna Pokemon center, Eterna City, Sinnoh
"No, it's okay.. All that matters is that you're alright," Gwen said, tightening her hug of Naka before letting go to fix her cap and hair after the woman ruffled it. The blue haired girl smiled brightly again as the researcher seemed to be in a better mood and followed her outside of the bathroom. Honestly, she had no idea that Naka was this famous, but it made sense. She was such a strong trainer after all.
The blue haired girl followed the woman behind the Pokecenter and watched the Sceptile and his trainer interact. Gwen couldn't help but smile. Damn, Naka was such a cool trainer...
The light blue haired girl snapped out of her stupor though when Naka asked if she wanted to ride her Sceptile with her. Gwen's face immediately lit up as she walked over and patted Silenius before going to get up, "I've never ridden a pokemon like this!" the young trainer exclaimed, all giddy and excited. As instructed, she took hold of the Forest Pokemon's shoulders. While preparing herself to go off and to find Ron, Gwen did hear and feel something buzz in her backpack. Odd..
