Ask to Join Pokémon Trainer University

"I'm glad most of us made it out unharmed" Alan said with a smile as he grabbed himself a bowl of sugary cereal and an energy drink. Before selecting a healthy assortment of berries for his Pokémon which he added to the tray. "Would you like to eat with me this morning?" He asked the trainer detecting the unease in his voice "My roommate mike will be down sooner or later"

He found himself nodding in acceptance of Alan's offer and then walking over to where Mike and Alan usually sat. Wes greeted Alan once more with a nod and sat down heavily on the chair while Growlithe and Dratini cried their greetings in a silent tone as they leaped or slithered onto the table. Shieldon stood upon the ground, silent and battered from his night of vigilance. Wes dished out the bowls of fruit and Poke-kibble to his partners before starting on his own meal. Pokemon and Trainer ate without the gusto of the previous meals and in silence.

After breakfast, the pair on the table grew lively once more while Shieldon slumped to the tile floor, exhausted. Wes looked under the table at the Rock and Steel Pokemon with worry and spoke softly to it,

“Class is starting soon and you really need your rest. Why don’t you hop in your Pokeball for a while?” the trainer said while gesturing toward the second capsule upon his holder. For a moment, Shieldon looked defiantly at his trainer, but then its strength gave way and it nodded in defeat. Wes frowned and whispered his farewell before pressing the button on the capsule. An answering crimson flash shone from underneath the table before quickly diminishing. The flash gathered some attention for a moment from the other trainers around the room, but it was silently overlooked after they realized what had occurred. Wes rose his head from beneath the table and spoke to his friend across the table with a grim voice,

“How do you think the classes will be, today?” his question, though silent, seemed to echo in everyone’s mind around the silent room.

"I think we're all in about the same place" Alan Said as he poured the energy drink over his cereal and released his Pokémon charmander and Vulpix on the table and grovyle sitting in the seat next to his trainer like a little person. "You know, a change of scenery might be good for you" Alan proposed "I'm planning on headding off campus to meet my brother today during free time, you're more than welcome to come"

Wes watched in disgust as the brightly colored energy drink streamed from the can. His appetite was suddenly lost and the meager amount of food left on his plate seemed a waste of his time. He twitched with his glasses before answering,

"You're probably right." he paused, thinking about his answer before responding. "I suppose that a change of scenery would be nice but I think that I may never come back if I decide to leave." he chuckled lightly.

"Anyways I was planning on working with my Pokemon during free time. We need to get stronger if we want to take down whoever set off the explosion." the latter part of his response surprised him. He sat dumbfounded at his words for a moments before thinking to himself, I guess it's the only way to make things how they were. Wes' face seemed to harden before the eyes of his Pokemon and Alan. Abruptly, he stood up and stated,

"I'm going to put these dishes up and head to class early. I'll see you then, Alan. Good luck with your brother."

Mike headed downstairs to the mess hall. He got some cereal and OJ for breakfast and berries for his Pokemon. "Thanks for the food, miss," Mike said to the lunch lady while walking to Alan. He noticed Wes leaving the mess hall, probably headed for class. He sat down at Alan's table.
"Hey Alan. It's a lot less crowded than yesterday. I did some training and studying while you were asleep, but I was also tired so I went to sleep earlier than usual. Anyways, what do you plan to do this evening?" Mike asks cheerfully.

Wes stepped from the air conditioned dorm building to the warm and humid air that smothered the campus. The sun continued the climb to its zenith as the trio walked the short distance to the moving sidewalks. Upon stepping onto the conveyor, the party was immediately whisked away from the silent dorm building and towards the Conference Center. The reflective glass of the giant dome seemed to glow with an unearthly light as they drew closer to the hulking structure.

The moving sidewalk below their feet deposited them at the hub, the central point of all the moving sidewalks across the campus, and started its journey back to the dorm building. Wes peered at the holographic signs displayed around the hub before being drawn to the massive fountain center piece. The architecture of the fountain was similar to that of the Academic Building yet also different because of the strict detail that created the design. He studied the object from the viewpoint of a nearby bench as his partners played on the concrete in front of him. Growlithe barked at the serpent-like Dragon who answered with a spritely cry. They seem so oblivious to what is going on here. he thought to himself as the pair began to chase one another around the fountain.

He took the PDA from his tight jean pocket and read aloud the time to the Pokemon,

"6:30. What are we going to do for a hour and a half?" he asked loudly to the pair so as to make sure they heard him. They stopped their game and came trotting back to give their opinions. Growlithe and Dratini motioned across an adjacent moving sidewalk to the small arena that Mike and Matthew had battled in the day before. He nodded,

"Alright. Training will take our minds off things for a while." responded Wes as he stood up from the bench. They left the gorgeous fountain behind as they rode on the speeding sidewalk. The wind gave a final ruffle to fur, scale, and hair when the exited the sidewalk and began the short walk to the arena. Wes' face seemed to grow softer as they walked and his always expressive eyes seemed to glow with the familiar fire of battle and youth.

"We've got a while for this training session, but that doesn't mean we're going to waste our time." he announced with a grin. Growlithe and Dratini cried their agreement and sped towards the arena. Shieldon's capsule quaked grandly upon his holder before a blinding flash appeared at his hip. Looks like that quick rest gave Shieldon all the stuff he needed to get back in the game. his mind thought excitedly.

"It's good to have you back, buddy!" Wes exclaimed.

"Shield!" the Pokemon cried with rejuvenated strength. As a pair, they raced after the two already in the arena.

"Yeah, see you in class wes" Alan said with a smile looking up from his breakfast of champions for a moment to wave goodbye to his classmate.

Alan smiled as Make found his way to the table"glad you could make it"
"I'm actually headding off campus to meet my older brother, he graduated from here a few years ago." Alan said as he happily munches on his Cereal and energy drink concoction. "What about you mike?"

Matthew woke up in a completely usual way. He looked out the window and smiled a bit as he was able to see the sun just barely peeking over the horizon. The sky glimmered with the stars from the past night complemented by its orange color thanks to the sunrise. Matthew looked down at all of his Pokemon in front of him and smiled. He must've bored all of them to sleep, including himself, with his own talking. Matthew did a recount and realized that his Chimchar wasn't laying on the bed. He panicked for a slight moment but quickly spotted the monkey over by the window. This was the major dysfunction with Matthew's team ever since the explosion. His partner has been on edge ever since it happened. The little monkey was quick to lose control and let his own anger burn out all around him, allowing the flames within him to burn down everything he knew. Matthew knew that Chimchar was slightly angrier than usual but he never knew it could get as bad as it currently was. He placed a hand on the monkey's head and smiled, "We'll all be fine Chimchar." he said. For Chimchar however, he didn't want to be fine. He wanted to find the person that did this and stop them. The monkey sensed something on that day but he wasn't quite sure what it was. He knew something was unusual about the fire attack that sent Steelix toppling down.

"6:30." Matthew said, checking his PDA. The boy got dressed in some brown jeans and a black T-shirt. He threw on a red jacket along with a red pair of tennis shoes. He walked over to his bed where Deino and Mareep were sleeping. "Hey you two it's time to go get something to eat." he said quietly while shaking his Pokemon. The two little Pokemon sprung to life at the mention of food and this was enough to bring a smile to Matthew's face. "Even in this time of disaster they're still able to smile." the boy thought to himself. He returned the two on the bed to their Pokeballs and whistled for Chimchar. "Come on partner it's time to go chow down." he said with a smile. Normally Chimchar would've stayed by the window, but his trainer's smile did something to him. No matter how angry the little fire monkey was, he always felt safe around Matthew. He scurried over and hopped onto his trainer's shoulder just as the boy was closing his door. "I wonder who else is up." he said to his buddy as he made his way downstairs.

He saw Alan and Mike at a table and decided to join them. "Good morning you guys." he said with a slight smile. None of them could just pretend like that explosion didn't happen, but they also had classes today. He noticed that Wes was just leaving and he frowned. He really wondered if something happened to Wes up on that roof. Maybe that explosion hit him a little harder than the rest of them may have thought.

Matthew grabbed some bowls and filled them with kibble for his three Pokemon. He brought out Deino and Mareep so they could eat with Chimchar while the boy went back to get some food of his own. "Maybe just some of this." he said to himself as he grabbed a bowl of regular cereal. He poured in some milk and sugar before also grabbing a spoon to eat it with. Matthew then poured himself a glass of orange juice before heading back to his table. He sat and watched his Pokemon eat as he too dug into his own breakfast meal. "Look at them. They're all still smiling regardless of the incident. They all have worked so hard and they want to stay that way." he thought, very surprised, yet proud of his Pokemon.

"Training and studying. Mostly training. My schedule isn't exactly full so I use most of my free time helping my Pokemon get stronger. Speaking of which I forget to make their food," Mike said. He got his Pokepuff Making Machine and called out his Pokemon. They happily ate the pokepuffs. Midway through breakfast, Mike noticed Matthew entering the cafeteria and sitting at his table. "Hey Matthew. I'm nearly done with breakfast, but studying can wait. Do you have any plans?" Mike asked Matthew.

The boy checked his PDA and it was nearing 7:00. "Nope. I didn't plan on waking up at 6:30 this morning so no I don't have anything planned." he said. He ate some more of his cereal as his Pokemon ate their food. He looked back up at Mike, "Why? What's on your mind?" he asked curiously.

"Nothing. I just told Alan that my schedule is just classes, breaks and training or study," Mike explained. "Well cya in class," Mike said before leaving the cafeteria and throwing his tray away.
As Mike entered the field he felt the cold morning breeze. "Ahh, that feels great," Mike thought. He sent out his Pokemon. "Cmon guys let's walk to my room together," he told his Pokemon. His Pokemon were a bit confused but merrily went along with their trainer. When he entered his room he returned his Pokemon, grabbed a book, and began studying.
After what Mike thought was a week, his PDA buzzed signaling that it was 7:30. "Well time to go," Mike thought while putting his book away.

"Shieldon use Smack Down! Growlithe charge at 'em and use Take Down! Dratini, Dragon Rage! Let's go!" Wes' shouts echoed across the arena as his partners began their assault once more on the newly stuffed sack dummies. After nearly thirty minutes of the onslaught, the dummies weren't looking to good. Each one had its share of scratches, singe marks, missing limbs, and indentations to last a sack's life time. Wes grinned at his Pokemon while his eyes couldn't help but observe their obvious power. Growlithe tackled the bag with such a force from its glowing body that it flew across the arena and hit the opposing fence, stuffing flying. Shieldon's Smack Down pierced through its dummy, leaving a clear hole through the dummies torso while Dratini's Dragon Rage burned the sack to a fine ash.

"Good work, guys! That was the best attack, yet!" The Pokemon turned to him, eyes aflame and breathing heavy. They each answered with a cry as if to say, "what's next?", in their own primal language. A toothy grin played out across his face before he pointed towards another set of dummies across the battlefield.

"Last set before its time to go! Make it your best!" he shouted before making a fist and commanding his next attacks, "Dratini use your Twister against all three dummies!" The serpent-like Dragon reared up to its maximum height of nearly five foot and cried it's fierce battle call. Dratini began coiling itself round and round, a powerful cyclone appearing around it. The blue-tinged twister was finally released with a whip of Dratini's tail and it flew over to the dummies with a purpose. The cyclone ripped through the dummies tough sack-like skin and sent fluff flying through the air. The tornado dissipated and the serpent Pokemon lay flat on the ground with a fierce flame in its eyes, breathing heavily.

"Good work, Dratini!" Wes yelled in encouragement to his partner who was slowly slithering back to him. As it reached him, Wes picked up the tired out Pokemon and draped it around his neck. The battered creature smiled and rested on his shoulders as he called the next move,

"Time to show your stuff, Shieldon!" he called and pointed to the next set of dummies.

"Shield!" the Pokemon answered with a determined tone to its voice.

"Use Smack Down on all three!" Wes commanded. Shieldon lifted its front feet high and then suddenly stomped into the ground below. The vibration it caused allowed fractures in the ground to carve out stones for it to use as ammunition. Some dozen fist-sized stones levitated from the earth as the Shield Pokemon had willed. With a mighty roar, the Smack Down stones were sent hurdling towards the dummies. Each rock found a target and pierced through the weak dummies with ease. After the assault, nothing remained except for loose fluff and a tired Shieldon. Wes clapped lightly and chuckled,

"Amazing work, buddy. It's your turn, Growlithe!" Wes shouted as Shieldon crawled its way back to him with a similar gleam in its eyes. Growlithe barked loudly in agreement and readied itself in a fighting stance. Wes pointed at the final set of dummies and yelled,

"Go, Growlithe. Use your Ember!" The Puppy Pokemon cried with great force and opened its maw as a crimson, glowing orb started to grow inside. The orb of pure flame grew larger within the creature's mouth before finally being released as a writhing fireball. It was not Ember that burnt the dummies to crisps in moments and continued to melt and singe the fence, it was a powerful Flame Burst attack. Growlithe stood for some moments after the fire went out on the battlefield, but finally collapsed as a ball of singed fur. Wes and his partners ran to the Pokemon as he fell weakly.

"Growlithe, you did great." he soothed the battered Pokemon. Growlithe opened its eyes and revealed its own flame-like pupils to his trainer. Breathing heavily, the trio of creatures joined together as a group and congratulated each other on such a great, yet tiring, training session. Wes smiled proudly at his team and crouched down to their level before saying softly,

"We're ready." His Pokemon looked at him for a moment before crying out and gathering around him. Wes enveloped them all in a bear hug. He finally released them, stood, and stated,

"It's time to head to class, take some much needed rest, guys. You all showed your true power today!" The trio of creatures glowed as one bright mass of crimson light before returning to their capsules. Wes looked around at the damage they had caused the arena.

And then, he left silently with a faint smile upon his sweating face.

Mike went downstairs and was passing through the field where he saw someone at the training area. He looked a bit closer and realized that "someone" was Wes! "Hey Wes! Training huh? Me and Matthew had our own match at the arena here," Mike said. He then noticed that all the dummies were utterly annihilated. "Wow! I guess you spent all the time after breakfast training here. Well it's," Mike pauses and checks his PDA," 7:45 so we better get going to Regional Studies at the Conference Center. But do you want to battle at Professor Sakura's class?" Mike asked Wes.

Alan once again leaves his garbage on the mess hall table returning his Pokémon as he makes for the door to the outside. He is greeted by a refreshing morning breeze the blows his hair into his eyes. The energy on the campus is much different than the day before, he even feels slightly unnerved as he walks past a police officer standing guard outside the dorm with his towering Arcanine. Alan scans his vision across the campus noting several police cruisers parked on the lawn of the ruined Academic center. "Conference center A is the one that looks like a giant pokeball" he says to himself as he steps onto the moving sidewalk headed towards the building that just two days ago had housed the entrance ceremony.

The building is a large circular structure with a tall domed roof the entrance just below the white pokeball bottom. With a few minutes to spare before another dreadful regional studies class Alan has a look around for any of his new acquaintances outside of the conference center

Wes noticed Mike approaching as he walked towards the moving sidewalks. He waved at the young trainer and answered cheerfully,

"Hey Mike. Yeah, just a little workout for the team. Gotta keep ourselves fighting fit and all that." he chuckled and then continued, "That's right, we should get a move on if we don't want to be late." Wes gestured for his friend to follow him as he proceeded to the moving paths. Once he was firmly on the track he was sent off, wind whisking his hair wildly. He turns to Mike and continues the conversation,

"Sure, a battle with someone new is just what the doctor ordered!" he exclaimed cheerfully. The young trainer twitched with his glasses and walked onto solid ground. He looked up at the glowing Pokeball-like structure of the Conference Center and entered the air conditioning quickly. Already, trainers and Pokemon had gathered with their instructors and friends before the first class. The large, domed room was drastically more loud than the previous rooms he'd been in that morning. He leaned closer to Mike so the male could hear him and said,

"Let's go find Professor Combover and the rest of the gang before the classes start."

"Well okay then. Cya in class." he said back to Mike as he watched the boy leave. Matthew finished up his breakfast and took care of the dishes that were being used by him and his Pokemon. Matthew was walking around the dorms of the campus in deep thought. He was just thinking of a way to get to the bottom of whoever did this. He was positive that the others were thinking about something similar.

All of a sudden his PDA buzzed. "7:30 huh?" the boy asked himself as he read the screen. "Alright guys let's head to class now." he said, waving for his Pokemon to follow him. He allowed all three to stay out of their Pokeballs as he walked outside in search of the Conference Building. "I definitely haven't been there before." he said to himself as he searched for the structure. He looked and saw Mike so he gave the boy a wave. "I have no idea where I'm going." he said to the student.

As Mike was walking to the conference center he decided to let his Pokemon out. He saw Matthew waving at him.
"Follow us," Mike told Matthew.
"See that big pokeball?" Mike asked.
"That's the Conference Center. I explored the campus a lot on Day 1 so I know my way around this school," Mike explained.
"Well, let's get ready for another exciting day of Regional Studies!" Mike exclaimed sarcastically.

Matthew looked up at the big Pokeball that Mike pointed at and examined the building. "Looks pretty big to me." he said with a bit of excitement. He was walking towards the Conference Center with his three Pokemon in tow. "Alright you guys I gotta get to class. You guys just get some rest and don't worry about that bald professor." he said, returning all three of them to their Pokeballs. "Exciting is definitely the word." he said, joining in on Mike's sarcastic tone. He pulled open the door and took a look inside. "Oh I remember being here. This was where that boring entrance speech was." he said with a bit of a laugh.

Mike checked his PDA: 7:55. "Wes I know you wanted to find the others but it's nearly time for class. You don't want to get late do you? It'll make a bad impression on the second day, but unlike you, somone doesn't have a clean record." Mike said slyly.
"Cmon Matthew, you can get em for us right? Hey I think I might've seen Alan near the Center," Mike said while nudging Matthew.

Alan jogs over to meet the two oncoming trainers with a mischievous grin on his face. " Fancy meeting both of you here!" He says to them stopping on his heels, the manic energy quite out of character for him. "I think i know just what we all need to cheer up after yesterday, Make sure you come to room 316 after dark tonight, and tell the others!"

OOC: I hope I wrote about Alan's location correctly. I wasn't sure if you had already entered or not. (Edit: Now I'm changing my response after seeing Orion's post :D)

IC: The young trainer fidgeted with his glasses as he peered around the spherical room, looking for his class. Just as he spotted Professor Larch, he heard the glass door of the Conference Center open behind him and spun around to find Matthew, Mike, and Alan entering. He waved at them to show where he was in the slightly dense crowd of students. The young trainer joined his friends and spoke,

"Hey, guys. I just spotted Professor Larch in the crowd over there," he pointed to the general area, "we should head over before we're late. Regional Studies is going to be so much fun today." Wes snickered at his comment and then gestured for them to follow him through the crowd. He made a winding path through the group of students before finally reaching his own class. I hope those guys are still following. That was sort of a crazy route. he thought with a smile before joining the Regional Studies group.

"Huh. Guess he was outside," Mike said to himself. "Wait, what is he plotting, don't tell me he's going to burn our room in front of everyone!" Mike thought filled with horror. "Well I don't think you have to tell me that considering I live there," Mike told Alan casually. He saw Wes waved his hand to Mike. "Guys I think Wes found the Professor. Let's follow him," Mike told the others. After a winding path, Mike found Professor Larch's group.

Jezebel, figuring that Lexie was still exhausted, went ahead and got dressed and made sure her pokemon ate.

By the time breakfast was over, the medicine had started to take effect, letting her move around easier. She was still stiff, unable to run, and sore but at least now it was manageable. Checking her PDA, she figured out where her classes would now be taking place and started heading that way. She was feeling better but didn't know how long it would take to get there.

"You want me to risk being caught by the bald guy? No way Mike you're dreaming." he said with a laugh. Alan then approached the trainers and said something about meeting him in his room after dark. Matthew thought for a moment and his conscious was telling him hell no. On the other hand, he needed some cheering up after the bombing incident so it didn't seem like a such a bad idea. "Alright then." he said to the black and blue haired boy.

Once Matthew entered Wes took off after seeing professor Larch in the crowd. "Hey wait up!" Matthew shouted, not wanting to be left behind. He tried following Wes by tracing the boy's footsteps but didn't quite make it all the way through. "Oww..." Matthew groaned while rolling out of the crowd.

Folding chairs had been arranged in a circular fashion resembling the classroom from the Acedemic building.
Professor Larch without his desk remained standing at the podium tapping his fingers with a sour look on his pudgy face.

"Welcome to day two of regional studies" the professor said with a grimace. "Yesterday we learned a general overview of the Hoenn region, today we will study a particular route in depth"

The grouchy man let out a deep sigh as Alan entered the sectioned off area of the Auditorium, late for class. "I knew it was unlikely you would live up to the standard of your brother" the man jabbed at him. The insult finding its mark as Alan was visibly affected by the remark. "Find your seat Mr.Race" having finished berating his student he began the lecture as Alan found a seat near the door to the classroom.

"Today's lecture will be on the Petalburg Woods," began the professor, this time without the luxuary of a visual aid "the petalburg woods is a forest in west Hoenn, it lies on route 104 and connects the town of Petalburg to Rustboro City. As with many forests it is home to a veriaty of Bug Type Pokémon including; wurmple, silicoon, And Cascoon. It is also home to the common Hoenn Pokémon Poocheyna, Zigzagoon, and Taillow. More illusive species of forest Pokémon include Slakoth, and Shroomish which can only be found within the confines of this forest" the professor droned on into how the temperate climate of western Hoenn allowed for such a diverse number of species to appear in the same place before ending his lecture abruptly as the campus bell chimed signaling the end of the period.

Alan manages to catch Wes and Jez on their way out of the classroom "Wes wait up I wanted to let you know that we're having a get together this evening to help everyone recover from yesterday's disaster, and jez your more than welcome to come as well, ... and please, make sure you invite Lexi"

Wes had found a familiar, close-to-the-front seat in the circular ring of folding chairs. As the rest of his friends filed in, the Professor took an aggressive jab at Alan. The young trainer grimaced at the pudgy man on the podium in disgust. How can such a man exist. It's like he's boring and hateful all wrapped up in a pudgy little cupcake! he thought angrily. Wes followed Alan with his eyes, noticing the visual change upon his face immediately. Knowing Alan's temper, I'd say that after class might get rough. his mind said before focusing in on the lecture. Once more, Wes found himself hanging on every word of the Professor and typing most of them in his PDA as well.

As the man upon the podium droned on, Wes couldn't help but feel a twinge of homesickness in his stomach. The mention of the Petalburg Woods reminded him of the small town he had lived in most of his life. Yet, most of all, he thought of his mother. I wonder how she's holding up with me gone. Wes thought with a pained expression.

The moment the lecture ended, Wes popped up from his seat and began to head out. His eagerness to escape the domed building was abruptly stopped by the sound of his name. He swiveled around to find Alan calling his and Jezebel's name, who was close by. He fidgeted with his glasses before responding to the invitation,

"Alright, sounds fun!" he answered cheerfully before listening intently to Alan's words with Jezebel. The comment caught him off guard and he began thinking mischievously to himself, Sounds like someone has the hots for Lexie. No wonder I saw him talking to her the other day after this very class. His face formed a sly grin and we waved his farewell to the pair.

Wes released his Pokemon immediately after stepping from the threshold of the Conference Center. They cried in delight at their freedom and pranced merrily about Wes' legs. Wes chuckled,

"You guys seem to have recovered well from our training. Good thing too, because second period is Double Battles!" he exclaimed to his happy crew before beginning to walk along the concrete sidewalk outside of Conference Center A. His mind began to fill with thoughts of the explosion that had happened just yesterday. Wes shivered at the thought and shook himself savagely to rid his mind of the image. He purposefully thought of the new classes he would experience after Double Battles.

"Single Battles and Endurance Training will be new for us today. I don't know about you guys, but I'm ready to discover what the endurance thing is all about." he thought aloud to his team. "Seeing the Safari Zone as well will be quite the experience, don't you think. I hope to meet more partners to add to the team." he continued before being interrupted by the gleeful cries of his Pokemon. Wes chuckled once more as his thoughts became overwhelmed by the images of potential Pokemon to add to his growing family.

Lexie felt a warm sensation on her face while she was sleeping, she decided to ignore it as she was too exhausted to move. Once the sensation stopped, she feel back into a deep sleep. She finally woke up to her pokémon all jumping on her, trying to wake her up. She groaned slightly, aching from the events that happened the previous day. "Okay, okay, i'm up," She said, as she unraveled herself from the warmth of her covers. She noticed Jezebel was gone. "Oh man, I must have really overslept." She rushed to get ready. She slipped on blue jean shorts, a navy shirt, and a BTU sweatshirt which she had purchased at the school's bookstore the day she first arrived. She brushed her hair and her teeth before finally putting on a pair of white shoes. She grabbed her navy backpack and made sure she had all the right items for her classes, even though she was most definitely late. She frowned as she checked her phone. "Looks like we have to miss breakfast today," She said as her pokémon all cried out at the horrible news. "It's okay, i'm sure one of our friends has snacks," She quickly added to cheer them up. "Alright, let's go." She said and her pokémon took their spots. Sandile was perched on her head, Eevee was on her shoulder, and Totodile was in her arms. She rushed out the door, making sure to look it in the process. She rushed through the campus to make it to the Lecture Hall. She noticed her friends leaving Regional Studies and she smiled. "Hey guys," She said as she approached them. "If you couldn't already tell, I overslept," She sheepishly rubbed the back of her head. "Oh no, I missed Regional Studies, it's a tragedy."

"It's only day two and we've already covered so much." Matthew thought to himself with a frown. He was afraid his PDA was gonna run out of storage or something with all the notes he was taking. His arm had a bruise from getting jolted around in the crowd on the way to class and it didn't help that he needed that same hand to take his notes. He noticed Lexie walking in late to class and decided to use this time for his precious retaliation for the previous day. "Well well well Lexie." the boy started with a sly smile on his face. "Who's the late one now?" he asked with a bit of a laugh. Maybe it wasn't the best time to retaliate after a bombing but it was simply Matthew trying to not let everyone else get down about the bombing. He saw Mike also being an optimist about the situation and decided that it was a great attitude to have for those around him.

As the lecture ended, Matthew was hesitant about attending. "What if they come back to finish us?" he thought. He was frozen in place as he thought about why they attacked during the Double Battles class. Was it because they were on the roof or maybe the time of day? Were they even the initial intended targets of the attack? If they were, then why?

Lexie gasped at Matthew's response and lightly punched him on the arm. "My feelings are hurt, the only way to make it up to me is to share your notes with me," She said, smiling widely, as she nudged him with her elbow. "Now be honest, was this class more or less boring than the first one?" She asked, making another hilarious joke. She frowned slightly, "I kind of don't want to go to our next course." She said, rubbing her aching arms. "I have so many questions about what happened, I still see Wes and Jezebel laying on the ground either unconscious or in pain." She looked at Matthew, noticing his blank expression as he stared off at nothing. "Do you feel the same way? I know some people are acting optimistic or like it never happened, but I don't know how to be that way." She said, frowning yet again.

"My notes huh? Yeah I'll totally give them to you." the boy said sarcastically with a laugh. He planned to share them either way but there was no fun involved if he just said he'd fork them over. "Yeah no this class was definitely more boring than yesterday." he said, pulling the skin below his eyes downward to show how awake he actually was in that class which was barely. He then listened as she talked about having all the flashbacks from the bombing yesterday. "Yeah I know what you mean. I don't really want to think about it and I definitely didn't want to freak you out by saying anything but, Lexie what if they come back to like...I don't know..finish us off or something?" he finished saying, trying not to imagine the worst possible scenario but his brain wasn't allowing him to do so. "There's still so much we all don't know." he said blankly. She was right about the optimistic though. Mike had him beat hands down in the whole act. Matthew could only keep it up for a while before the memories and thoughts invaded his brain once again. He ended up in the same boat as Lexie sometimes, not knowing if optimism was even a valid option at their current point in the situation.

Lexie rolled her eyes, in an exaggerated way to show she was joking. "Next time you need something from me, you can just forget about it pal." She said, as she crossed her arms and looked away. She looked back at Matthew and smiled before sticking her tongue out. Her eyes softened as she started to speak again, "I try to be my usual self, but it's like i've changed. I'm just scared, you know?" She sighed, "I'm terrified they're going to try something again. I'm terrified they're going to succeed this time." She frowned, yet again. She definitely didn't want to be this way, but how else was she supposed to be? She couldn't ignore her feelings or pretend they aren't even there. "They hurt our friends, I can't sit back and do nothing about it, but I don't know if there's anything I can do." She hated feeling so weak and vulnerable because of this evil organization terrorizing their school.

Matthew was legitimately convinced that she might've been a little upset. He was going to tell her that he was joking but it turns out that she knew about his sarcastic act the whole time. Matthew smiled, "Yeah we're all scared Lexie." he said in agreement with her. She was saying out loud all the things that kept invading his mind from time to time on a daily basis. "Well don't beat yourself up about it. You aren't weak Lexie." the boy said. He placed a hand on her shoulder, "Besides, people have been training like crazy to improve their skills for if we ever run into those guys again. Alan's got a Grovyle now. Two of Mike's Pokemon even evolved in a battle between me and him so he has a Luxio and a Quilava now." he continued. "Even Wes was out there with the training dummies tearing them to shreds." he finished. "If anything I should at least have one of my Pokemon evolved but that hasn't happened yet." he said.

"Deino won't evolve for quite a while but, Mareep and Chimchar should be close enough just as Jezebel was saying yesterday." he said. "I'm trying to get to the bottom of Chimchar's problem but despite my efforts I haven't made much progress. Partner of the year award goes to me I guess. I just feel like if I could get Chimchar to evolve then I'd feel a whole lot better about this whole situation." he explained.

Lexie's mouth opened wide and she smiled, "Wow that's amazing! I'm so happy for everyone. If that's Team Forge or whatever tried anything again, they'll have a very difficult time because my friends are tough." She said, trying to lighten the mood. "I should really train my Pokémon too, but between helping Jez, sleeping, and missing class, I haven't had the chance to." She pondered for a moment. "Hey, since your Mareep and Chimchar are close to evolving, do you want to train with me?" She suggested, "I want to evolve Eevee into a Jolteon, but I have to buy a thunderstone first, but I believe I can get Totodile and Sandile to evolve if I just get in some training." She smiled softly as she listened to Matthew express his concerns about Chinchar. "Hey, don't be so tough on yourself. You're a great partner and I know Chimchar thinks that too. Maybe he's just riled up about everything that's been happening. I think it'll help once he evolves, he'll become even stronger and more confident, so it might calm him down." She suggested, she wasn't really sure what was happening with her friend's pokémon, but she was hoping her words of encouragement were getting through to him.

Matthew smiled, "Yeah training sounds great right about now." the boy said to her in response. Despite the darkness of their situation, there has only been one thing that could bring a smile to Matthew's face with no trouble at all. Training was the one thing that he thought about all the time but of course he had to keep in mind his Pokemon's physical limits as well as his own. He couldn't just run them recklessly, forcing them to work all the time and he couldn't do it to himself either. Keeping these things in mind, when him and his Pokemon were up for it they always had a great time and got some work done. "Thanks Lexie. I know Chimchar will come around sooner or later. I'm just worried that's all." the boy said with a bit of a smile. He then looked towards the door that led back outside from the Conference Center, "Well I guess if we're gonna train then we'd better go outside to the training area. Let's work as hard as we can." the boy said with a smile.

Lexie grinned, barely containing the excitement she felt, "We haven't trained since we got here, I know my pokémon are excited, as am I," She said, getting more pumped by the second. The thought of the pokémon swiftly taking out targets, becoming stronger, and possibly evolving brought her joy, even with all the grim events that happened yesterday, and the possible events that are yet to come. "Of course, Matthew. It's normal to be worried, it's what makes you a good trainer. It's nice to see that you care so much about your pokémon." She said as she flashed another bright smile. "Okay, let's do this!" Her exhaustion faded from her and was replaced with a determined energy. She made her way up to the doors, her pokémon following along, also full of energy. She waited for Matthew by the doors as her stomach and her pokémon's growled. She laughed, sheepishly, "I'm excited for training, but i'm really hoping you have some snacks. Otherwise, I might eat you." She joked as she rubbed her stomach.

Matthew smiled with determination as he approached the doors. "Snacks huh?" he asked, digging through his bag. "Well there aresome berries and a granola bar if you're interested." he said. The boy laughed, "Oh please Lexie you probably don't eat that much on a daily basis anyways. Eating people is definitely out of the question for you." he said with a laugh. He held the snacks out in his hand in case she wanted them and opened the door. He felt the sun outside and exhaled. It was just like an other ordinary Spring day outside. Pretty nice amount of sun with the right amount of cool breeze. "Alright let's get a move on." the boy said with a smile as he headed out the door and began walking in the direction of the training camp.

Lexie's green eyes sparkled as she saw the food, "Right now, in this very moment, you're my favorite person." She said as she took the food from his hands. "Seriously though, thank you." She quickly inhaled the granola bar and divided the berries up among her pokémon. Her brown eyebrows furrowed, "Hey now, I may be small but I have the appetite of a Snorlax. I'm always hungry, so if needed, I'd eat you." She said, eyeing the boy up and down. She struggled to keep a straight face and let out her laughter. She smiled as she followed Matthew out the door. She closed her eyes as she felt the warm sun and the cool breeze, she felt completely content. "It's the perfect day for training," she added as she opened her eyes and looked at her friend. She picked up Totodile and held him in her arms. Eevee hopped up on her shoulder as Sandile managed to slither up her body to her head, where he liked to be perched. She followed Matthew to the training camp, enjoying the sunshine on the way there.

Matthew laughed as Lexie took the food from him and even thanked him. "No problem. I'd do anything to help out a friend in need." he said. It didn't help when Lexie compared her appetite to that of a Snorlax. That's when Matthew lost control of his laughter. and it seemed like the girl had a hard time keeping hers in too.

Matthew arrived at the training grounds with Lexie hopefully in tow. "Well, this is the place." he simply said. It was a nice grassy field with a battle arena and some training dummies to practice on. He released all three of his Pokemon and like usual, Chimchar was being distant as opposed to the way he used to be. Matthew softly sighed and then decided to forget it. "Alright Lexie. So um what kind of training did you have in mind exactly?" he asked.

Lexie looked around the training grounds and studied the area. She noticed trainers and their pokémon all slightly out of breath as exhausted from their hard work. Her pokémon had all jumped away from her and was mingling with Matthew's pokémon. She turned to Matthew as he asked her a question. "I'm not really sure," She said, blushing slightly, embarrassed by her indecisiveness, "What kind of training did you do when you were here?" She asked the boy, hoping that something he said would stick out to her. She was eager, but didn't want to suggest something stupid. This was her first time at the training grounds, and Matthew had been here before, so she thought he would be able to get her started on the right foot.

Matthew thought about it for a moment. "Well to tell you the truth, in my time of being here I've never really done anything too complicated. Mike and I just had a double battle so he could work on evolving his Pokemon. That's a great training idea if you want to do that. There's also single battles obviously which are also great for most of the same reasons as the double battles minus the teamwork and coordination parts." he said, going through more fundamental training drills in his mind. "There are also some really basic things you can do like Speed, Strength, or Agility training. Endurance training seems fun to do here as well but considering we have a whole class dedicated to it I don't think we have to worry." he said, laughing a bit. "But yeah if any of those things sounded like a good idea to you then go ahead and pick something so we can get to training and all that good stuff." the boy said with a smile.
