Ask to Join Pokémon Trainer University

Wes couldn't turn away to speak with Matthew after he answered so he simply nodded in agreement, too consumed by the battle. Each trainer is trying their absolute hardest. This may not turn out like I originally thought. his inner thoughts said. As the inferno surrounded the pair of battling Pokemon, Wes suddenly knew that the battle was over. That Bullet Seed is way to dangerous and with such a setup like that Fire Spin from Vulpix, it's made it unavoidable. Alan sure has done some intense training with these Pokemon. his consciousness trailed on.

"This guy certainly has a lot of experience in double battles; you can tell by how smoothly he's having them coordinate," Jezebel said, watching stoically while cradling the now clean fox pokemon. "He's a bit brutal in his battling, though," she whispered to Wes.

He certainly knew how to assure victory but such brutal tactics could also result in badly hurt pokemon. She wasn't sure how to feel about it...

"Cyndaquil get in front of that bullet seed!" Mike said. Cyndaquil took the blow but it was not very effective. "Now smokescreen!" Mike said. The arena was once again full of smoke and Cyndaquil and Gible escaped the fire spin. "Now use Flame's Rage!" Mike ordered. Suddenly, a twister of fire and draconic power emerged from Cyndaquil and Gible hitting both Vulpix and Treecko.

Treeko managed to distance himself from the attack though was still send flying due to the blast Vulpix on the other hand absorbed more power from the attack launching another powered up Hex attack at the two Pokémon.

Several feet away treeko had pushed himself to his feet and eyes were drawn to him as he began to glow. A brilliant light followed by a burst of primal energy filled the arena as it was revealed that treeko stood there no longer, having been replaced by its evolved form Grovyle.

"That's enough!! Good fight trainers!" Professor Sakura calls as she bounds into the arena that manic happiness having returned to her mood. "It looks like there's only two trainers left!! Geeeeettt out here you two!!!"

Lexie's eyes widened as the pink haired Professor pointed to her and told her to get out on the battlefield. She shakily got up and walked towards Professor Sakura, her pokémon trailing behind her. She felt knots in her stomach as she felt all eyes on her. She trying to calm herself down by breathing in and out. She slowly felt better, and looked to her partner, Matthew. She couldn't believe in a few moments she would be having her first double battle at her new school.

"His Treeko...it evolved." Matthew said with wide eyes as he watched the battle wind down. Following the evolution of the little green Pokemon the professor stopped the fight. Maybe it was just for the best but Matthew wouldn't mind seeing a little bit of what that Grovyle could do. "Well looks like it's our turn to battle now Lexie. I'm not gonna go easy on you just cause you're a girl." he said with a light smile. He wanted to get her engaged in the battle, not angry at him or anything. By doing this he should be able to get her to let go of her nerves and just battle to the best of her ability. Matthew stepped out onto the field and thought for a minute. "Let's go with this." he said to himself. He tossed out two Pokemon, a Chimchar and a Mareep. "Alright you two get ready to battle together." he said.

"I can agree with that." he leaned in a whispered back to his fellow trainer. As another Smokescreen came into play, his face formed a grimace of disgust.

"It's not like we need more pollution or anything." he sarcastically stated to his friends. The smoke blocked his view once more and he coughed into his fist as the wind blew it into his lungs. A yell escaped from the smog, announcing a move known only to the male trainer that he hadn't met yet, "Flame's Rage". I've never heard of that one. Sounds like one of those moves trainers make up for contests or something. he thought. Yet, his sarcasm should have been taken back for the pure power of the move sent the haze of smoke spiraling into the clouds above. A bright flash of energy erupted from Treecko and suddenly a Grovyle stood in it's place. Wes gasped loudly, never having the experience of an evolution before. He turned to Matthew and grabbed his shirt collar before he left for the battlefield.

"Did you see that!" he yelled loudly, "That was amazing!" The previous grimace was now masked by a grin as the pair of trainers left the bleachers and headed to either side of the arena.

Lexie watched as her "opponent" walked onto the field across from her. "Okay Totodile and Sandile, let's show them what you got!" She said as she pointed at the field, so they would follow. Since Eevee wasn't called on, he curled up at Lexie's feet. Sandile and Totodile both ran out and stood in front of Lexie. They looked at Mareep and Chimchar with intimidating looks. "Since i'm such a good friend, i'll let you make the first move!" She called out to Matthew. Her heart raced a little bit, but her nerves began to calm. This was going to be fun, it's a learning experience. She became more eager to get the battle started.

"I can't say I'm surprised," Jezebel told her friends. "Rules state first years can only have three stage one pokemon and yet everyone trained their rears off for the entrance exams. There's no telling how many of our pokemon have been holding an evolution back so we can still get in," she explained.

Then the smile was gone; she collected the moist towelettes she had given her pokemon when she realized smokescreen was going to be in near constant use this time around. The towelettes had filtered so much smoke they were stained grey. "Way to much smoke to be healthy she muttered before shouting support to her friends who were headed to the battlefield.

Matthew laughed and gave a wave to Wes. He couldn't believe how excited he must've been to see Pokemon evolution for the first time. Even if it wasn't his own Pokemon he still was so hyped to see it, and he should be after all. Pokemon evolution wasn't just one of those things that happened everyday. He then refocused his mind and sights on Lexie. "Alright this'll be a tough one once she's fired up. Chimchar and Mareep I hope you two are ready cause she's definitely no pushover." he told his Pokemon.

Lexie was letting him have the first move and Matthew began to smile. "Alright here we come Lexie." he said to her from across the battlefield. "Alright I need to focus on getting Mareep charged up by any means necessary and Chimchar's at a disadvantage either way...not good." the boy thought to himself. "Mareep use Charge! Chimchar use Fury Swipes on Totodile!" he called out.

The little monkey sprinted across the field as white energy seeped out of his paws, creating claws. He jumped up into the air above Totodile and attempted to come down on him with multiple claw attacks. Meanwhile Mareep sat in the back, sotring electrical power. Stray streaks of electricity began radiating from Mareep, shooting towards the ground before redirecting themselves back towards Mareep.

"Good luck, you two!" he shouted to the pair as he turned to Jezebel. "You're probably right. I'd say that a little more intense training will set my team over the edge. We'll be rolling in evolutions!" His eyes were drawn once again to the battle and he found a similar realization as Jezebel about the smoke. Yet, then, he realized that Chimchar couldn't learn Smokescreen and his forming grimace disappeared.

"Here we go again!" he announced excitedly. Wes began to study the attacks of either trainer and tried to infer their strategies.

Lexie watched as she waited for Matthew to take a move. I really need to watch out for Mareep, she thought as she studied his two pokémon, Chimchar has a huge disadvantage against my team, but I know he'll put up a fight. Lexie was snapped back to reality when she heard Matthew call out his commands. "Totodile, use water gun on Chimchar and Sandile, use dig on Mareep!" She told her pokémon. Sandile immediately jumped up and dug under the ground, waiting for the right time to strike. Totodile opened his mouth to send out a forceful stream of water, but the fire monkey was too quick and hit him multiple times with his claws. "Totodile, are you okay?" She asked, worried about her pokémon. Totodile nodded and snapped his jaws. "Okay, good let's try that again! Totodile use water gun on Chimchar!" She called out. Totodile opened his jaws and sent out a power stream of water at Chimchar, Lexie hopes Totodile's attack would land.

Your battle is cut short by a massive explosion in the floors below the building. Tremors shake the educational center to is very core causing great cracks to form in the rooftop beneath your feet.

Professor Sakura quickly jumping to a stable area called out her sylveon to help prevent the panicking students from falling through the floor with it's extendable ribbons

Below Panic ensues , students and Pokémon racing in and out of the building, some seeking safety in the lawn of the education center. You can hear screams of terror, the shouting of names, and cries of pain echoing throught the air around you Others trying their hardest to save students who remained trapped in the building.
"Everyone please remain calm!" Professor Sakura shouts to the terrified class sounding deadly serious while keeping her composure calm
Although you can't see the extent of the damage from your position on the roof, all of you can clearly make out the thick trail of black smoke and sparks flying skyward on the front side of the building.

Lexie waited to see if her Totodile's attack would hit, by explosions and tremors. She quickly grabbed Totodile and Eevee. "Sandile, out of the ground NOW." She screamed, extremely worried about her little crocodile pokémon. Sandile swiftly jumped out of the ground and landed in her arms. She followed the rest of the students. She couldn't make out much, but she could hear screams that hurt her ears. She frowned and closed her eyes, worried for all the students who where below them whenever this tragedy struck. She looked around to make sure all of her friends and their pokémon had made it to safety. She tightly held her pokémon in her arms and relived the moment in her head. She couldn't believe what just happened. She didn't even know what just happened. All she knew that it was horrible.

Matthew stood up on the roof in the middle of his battle with Lexie and all of a sudden the worst possible thing starts happening. Everything began shaking and it was as if there was an earthquake or something. "What's going on with the school!" Matthew cried out. He quickly returned Mareep to its Pokeball and called Chimchar back to him. The little fire monkey quickly jumped up onto its trainer's shoulder and looked around. "We need to get somewhere safe!" Matthew called to all of his friends hoping that they could all get out without injuries. The trainer made his way over to Wes and Jezebel while waving Lexie over to them so they could all stay together. "What do you think is going on?" he asked Chimchar.

Wes felt the explosion go off beneath his feet. The quaking of the building caused his glasses to fall from his nose, rendering him sightless in seconds. He fell to the ground near the bleachers, the world blurring past his blind eyes. It seemed as though the roof around him was spiraling back down to the earth. His ears began to ring after the initial booming sound of the explosive and he could only faintly hear the command from the Professor to aid her students. Being across the arena from him, the voice of Matthew was only a meager call.

An orange, gray, and blue blur, what he thought to be his trusty Pokemon, nudged him to his feet as a pink blur-like ribbon of unknown strength wrapped about the group and carried them to safety on the stable patch of the roof. His eyes noticed what he thought of as the sky stained black with smoke; very similar to that of the Smokescreen, yet more primal. Wes laid upon the floor while Growlithe and Dratini curled around him, whimpering in fear. He moved his head weakly from the roof floor to just before him to find the familiar gray blur of what he thought to be Shieldon standing in front of him, holding true to its name. Wes groaned and from the combined force of the ringing in his ears, his sightless eyes, and the shock of the explosion, he fell into an unconscious void within himself. His head fell back onto the roof floor with a thud.

Mike felt an explosion and immediately started panicking. He saw some of his friends and began running towards them. He noticed that Wes was unconscious but left him because he was on the stable. Mike releases his Pokemon so he can protect them in case something happens to his pokeballs. "What the hell is happening?!" Mike asks Prof. Sakura completely forgetting his manners.

A roar comes up from the back of the building, when suddenly the head of a large steelex was staring at the students congregated in the roof.
"All of you, get onto steelex!" Shouts a thin green haired woman riding on the pokemon's head.

"Holly!" Shouts Professor Sakura "thank god, everyone get on that steelex"

The large silver Pokémon lowered its head permitting the rooftop students to climb aboard.

"I'm gonna get there first!" Mike said. He then remembers Wes unconscious on the floor. He picks Wes up and puts him on the Steelix. "Guess everything was so crazy for him he fainted," Mike said to himself. He noticed Lexie and Matthew heading to the Steelix, too. "Do any of you know what is happening?" he asks the two of them.

Lexie saw Matthew waving at her and quickly made her way over to where he was. "What in the world just happening?" She asked, her body trembling so much it made her words come out shaky. "Everything was fine and then it just wasn't." She tried to think of what to say but her mind was shot. Her eyes were ringing, tears were filling up her eyes. Her whole life had been simple, bad things rarely happened, and when they did they were nothing like this. She got her thoughts together before she realized she didn't know where Wes or his pokémon were. "Where's Wes?" She asked, deeply concerned. She looked around to see a familiar person on the ground with familiar pokémon around him. She brought a shaky hand up to her mouth. "Oh no, guys look." She said to the rest of the group as she pointed to her friend that wasn't moving. She saw the giant steel pokémon, lowering its head to allow students to safely retreat. She wanted to go, but her legs wouldn't move. She finally calmed down and got aboard the Steelix's head. She kept her eyes on Wes, hoping that someone would help him. She couldn't lift him up herself, but maybe Professor Sakura's Sylveon could lift him onto the Steelix. She noticed Mike pick up Wes and put him on the Steelix and exhauled a sigh of relief. "We have no idea what happened." She said to Mike, her voice still audibly shaky.

Matthew heard a terrifying roar and prayed that it wasn't more danger. He slowly turned around only to see a Steelix staring at all of the students stranded on the rooftop. The professor addressed her as Holly so Matthew felt a lot more safe about the Steelix. Apparently it was a bit of a rescue mission. Matthew noticed crowds of people running for the Steelix in order to get off the roof. Matthew was looking around for his friends and in doing so noticed that Wes was unconscious. Even if he was on a stable patch of roof there was no way he was making it to Steelix in that condition. Matthew jumped around from patch to patch trying to avoid falling to his inevitable death in an attempt to get over to Wes. He saw the other trainer's Pokemon who were all standing near him. "Hey there you guys." he said as he took a knee next to Wes. He noticed that the other trainer from before had come over to help Wes so Matthew gave him a hand.

Once they got Wes on the Steelix he saw Lexie come up to him and begin asking questions. "Don't worry Lexie I'm sure we're all gonna be okay. If anything, the Professors have tons of experience and know how to keep us all safe." he said, trying to calm her down. "As for what's going on I actually have no idea but it definitely isn't a natural occurrence, that was just way too much of a coincidence for the trainer to believe in. "Wes will be fine. Me and this guy over there got him onto Steelix." he told her with a smile. He had no idea how he was smiling in this situation but he just figured he kinda had to. Everyone was freaking out but freaking out with the rest of them wasn't the key to keeping everyone's spirits up. So he did just the opposite and smiled. "We're all gonna be safe soon." he reminded her.

Wes didn't feel or hear anything, yet his mind was still at work on his weakest sense. His mind saw the gigantic, silver blur of the Steelix looming over the roof top. His mind could discern the small, green speck atop its mighty head. Wes saw the familiar blur of Mike pick him up and place him on the cold, metallic neck of the Iron Snake Pokemon. He could taste and smell the smoke upon his tongue and in his nose as it worked its way to his lungs. He could smell the familiar ashy scent of Growlithe, the stone-like scent of Shieldon, and the reptilian scent of Dratini, yet the most overpowering was the earthy scent of the titanic-like Steelix. The senses that were still able, within himself, diminished into nothingness as the Steelix lowered its head to the ground.

"Thanks for the help. Did you forget my name? I'm Mike," he told Matthew. "And while you may be right about being safe soon, right now there was an explosion in the building. Like you said, the professors have some experience but I don't they practiced handling explosions and terrorist attacks," Mike told Matthew. "But remember we'll be safe soon," Mike said while looking at Lexie.

Lexie calmed down as Matthew and Mike talked to her, looking at the both of them. "Thank you for always calming me down." She said sheepishly. "I know I panic a lot, but it's really nice of you to take the time to calm me down, even with all this chaos." She smiled, slightly. "I'm really glad Wes will be okay and i'm so thankful that this Steelix rescued us. I know we'll all be safe, but i'm really hoping we'll get answers soon." She held her pokémon closely, feeling them shake with fear. "Don't worry guys, you heard Matthew and Mike, everyone's safe and everything's going to be okay." She said, trying to comfort them as the two guys did for her. She felt them slowly start to relax and she smiled again. "See? Nothing to be worried about now."

Once all of the rooftop students had been safely deposited on the lawn behind the building. Several student's notice that Alan is nowhere to be seen. The two professors had put some distance between themselves and the class and are speaking in hushed tones and only parts of their conversation can be heard over the sounds of chaos around you. "... ... Insane... ... Team Forge ... Gone too far..." The two professors approach the group of students while you can see the silhouette of a trainer through a busted out window behind steelix. Moments later a gout of fire streams from the building knocking the steelix to the ground causing more tremors before the trainer flees back into the smokey ruins of the building

He heard from inside of himself multiple instances of "remember we'll be safe soon" and his mind began to formulate responses. Man, I sure do like to be safe. When is lunch by the way. his delirious mind thought. Somehow his unconscious brain formed a peaceful smile on his face.

Wes was placed upon the soft grass outside of what was once the Academic Building. His Pokemon whimpered and nudged him to try and wake him, yet he slept on. The only thing that permeated the darkness was the feeling of an intense heat and the tremor caused by the falling skyscraper that was the Steelix.

"Hey guys do you know where Alan went? After the explosion I didn't see him anywhere. God, I hope didn't do something reckless," Mike told Lexie and Matthew. He was worried that Alan might've tried to stop the people that made the explosion.

Jezebel, having Vixie called back to her pokeball and having Liam take flight, had ran to the Steelix as fast as she could with Ammon held tightly in her arms. When the Steelix started going down, she tried to grab something, anything but was sent tumbling to the ground with a painful thud on her back.

"Ammon..." she hissed through the pain. To her relief the fossil pokemon was unharmed. Ammon, concerned for his trainer, hit the button on Vixie's ball. The quick footed fox went to find help as Jezebel tried, and failed, to force herself up.

"Fenn! Fennekin!" Vixie cried, trying to find Wes or Lexie or a professor who could help.

Matthew's eyes went wide as Steelix was sent down to the ground. He tried backing away as quickly as possible but the second the giant iron snake hit the ground he lost his balance and fell backwards. Chimchar fell off his trainer's shoulder and rolled backwards across the floor. He heard one thing before he fell. "Team Forge?" he asked himself as he turned around to see if Chimchar was okay. "You good buddy?" he asked while slowly getting to his feet. Turns out he wasn't the only one knocked to the ground by Steelix's crash. The only question was who in the hell has enough firepower to take down Steelix that easily. Chimchar hopped back up onto his trainer's shoulder and looked around. He could smell another fire type from within the building and began to growl. "Whoah Chimchar calm down." the boy said, trying to stop the fire monkey from doing anything rash. His tail fire was blazing uncontrollably and Matthew had to move his head away from his Pokemon for fear of being burned.

He made his way over to his friends to see if they were okay. "Do you guys know anything about a Team Forge?" he asked. Someone said it so he assumed that maybe they had something to do with it. "Well if Alan did go and do something then shouldn't we help him?" he asked Mike. "I mean maybe he's just stuck somewhere in which case he still would need help." he continued. "Jezebel isn't here either." he said. He turned to Lexie, "Any idea where she is?" he asked her.

"I see a girl on the floor. We should go help her. And no I haven't heard of any Team Forge. And yea if Alan did go we should help him too. But first let's get that girl back on her feet," Mike said while pointing to Jezebel.
"By the way why was your chimchar growling?" Mike asked Matthew.

Wes awoke shortly after the tremors from the toppling Steelix ceased to exist. His head shot up quickly, propelled by the pushing of his arms against the turf. He groaned as the blood rushed to it and his already blurred vision started to swim before him. Wes put a hand to his face and rubbed his eyes, feeling his worried Pokemon milling about upon his legs to make sure he was alright. He said the first thing that came to mind,

"Where are my glasses?" his voice sounded hollow to his ears due to the ringing that still lingered and he shook himself savagely to rid himself of the noise. Wes made no notion to search for the glasses though and still sat with a hand rubbing his eyes. He picked up on the words "Team Forge" from Matthew and began to think aloud,

"Probably another gang like all the rest of them in every other region. Seems like Team Aqua and Magma weren't enough for Hoenn after all."

Lexie smiled as she saw a smile appear on Wes' face, at least he's happy, she thought. Once the Steelix lowered its head again, she quickly jumped off and considered kissing the ground. She'd never been so happy to be standing on grass. She was pulled out of her thoughts by Matthew and Mike talking to her. She put her pokémon on the ground and said, "I haven't seen Alan or Jezebel since before the double battle." She frowned, worried for her friends. She looked down at Wes, who was talking about evil corporations and his glasses. She smiled, "I'm so glad you're okay Wes. I think your glasses fell off during the explosion." Her eyes then followed to where Mike was pointing and her eyes widened. "Oh my god, that's Jezebel." She quickly ran to her side and knelt down. "Vixie, Ammon, it's okay, Jezebel is going to be okay." She said trying to reassure her friends panicked pokémon. "Hey Jez, can you hear me? Are you hurt?" She said, hoping to get a response from the girl on the ground.

"Wes you're awake!" he said happily, seeing that his friend was okay. "Mike and I will be right back." he said.

"I'll tell you as we go." he said to Mike, breaking into a run to go help the girl who was on the floor. "Well I'm not really sure how it works yet or if it's even anything huge but what I do know is Chimchar has some way of tracking fire types, or at least fire attacks in general but judging from his growls, that fire came from some sort of fire type." he explained. As he got closer he realized that the girl was none other than Jezebel herself. "It's Jezebel! We gotta help her Mike!" he shouted. He wouldn't normally be shouting but due to the fact that they were running the wind was blowing so it was a bit hard to hear. It didn't help that everyone was still screaming and talking about the chaos that was unfolding at BTU.

Alan comes around the side of the building next to the Headmaster from the Acceptance ceremony Professor Hornbeam his red hoodie is missing and he's now dressed in black from head to toe.

"Holly, Sakura. You did en excellent job rescuing these students but we are going to need your help digging the remaining rubble out of the building. " he puts a hand on Alan's shoulder nudging him to rejoin his class before requesting that The two professors quickly escort the year one class back to their dorms

Vixie ran with Lexie back to her trainer, her throat sore from crying for help and her long fur streaked with tears. Ammon, for his part, was trying to move to help but was simply too slow on dry land.

Jezebel tried to respond; her eyes were open and moving but her mouth seemed disconnected and her arms barely responded when she tried to move. She blinked rapidly, trying to signal that she was at least conscious. After what seemed like an eternity, she was able to open her mouth. "Lex...can't...move..."

Even the smallest amount of talking made her whole body radiate with pain. Actually, it wasn't the talking that did it. She had been in pain and it was only now penetrating through the haze of numbness.

Lexie was already helping Jezebel up when Mike and Matthew got to her. "Hey I don't know who you are but you seem to be a friend of Lexie and Matthew so we're here to help you," Mike said to Jezebel. "Wait doesn't "Wes" have glasses?" Mike asks as he remembers a trainer wearing glasses battle that shares a resemblance to Wes. He found Wes's glasses and gave it to him. "Hey I think that's Alan!" Mike says pointing to someone with a hoodie.

"You're right it is Alan." Matthew said to Mike as the boy was escorted out by the headmaster. They were in the middle of trying to help Jezebel but before Matthew knew it, he was being rushed back to his dorm along with the rest of the first year students. "Oh come on. Not a single answer." he said, a bit annoyed at the aftermath of the attack on BTU.
