Ask to Join Pokémon Trainer University

Wes grinned and made a gesture towards his opponent. He spoke loudly so his voice could be heard across the field,

"I suppose we can start, then? Ladies first, Jezebel. Show me what you've got!" he crossed his arms before his chest and Dratini cheered on the sidelines like a banshee. The pair of creatures on the field before him seemed to deepen their stances in anticipation for the first strike.

After Regional Studies Mike started heading to Double Battles. "I wonder who I'll fight," Mike thought. He cleaned his glasses and continued up the stairs. He saw some students in a group. Finally, he reached the roof.

"The Professor certainly seems more lively than Professor Larch," Mike thought. When, Professor Sakura said to choose your partners he wasn't sure what to do. He remembered the hooded boy at the back of the room. He saw a girl nearby and decided to ask her about the hooded student.

"Hey do you if a hooded boy has a opponent yet?" Mike asked the girl.

OCC: I posted my Pokemon's moves in the Discussion Thread.

Lexie smiled at Matthew, listening to his words of advice. She nodded, taking in everything he said. He was right, everyone faced challenges along they way but they made it here. She made it here. "Thank you for saying that, it makes me feel better about the double battle, I shouldn't worry so much. With that being said, prepare to go down." She joked, before turning to her other two friends, preparing to start their battle. "Who do you think's going to win?" She asked, taking one last look at Jezebel and Wes and their pokémon, before turning back to Matthew.

"My pleasure!" she shouted back. "Ammon, use water gun; Vixie, use tackle on Growlithe!" She shouted.

Ammon sprayed water about, vaguely aiming for Sheildon but really just getting the whole field muddy and slick. Vixie charged ahead, giving Ammon's water gun a wide berth, and aimed to land her tackle right into Growlithe's chest.

Matthew heard another student ask about the hooded boy having a partner and he decided to jump in to relay information to the boy even though he asked Lexie. "I know you asked her and I don't mean to be rude but I don't think it's best for you to team up with him. Some ugly stuff went down between him and another guy a few minutes ago and I think it's best if you just don't go near him right now. He needs to cool off." Matthew explained.

The student then went on to answer Lexie's question. "Between Wes and Jezebel. It's hard to say really but I'd have to go with Wes. I think that Wes having Shieldon is just too much of a wall for Jezebel's team right now. She definitely needs something to stop rock types and the best she's got is Ammon." Matthew said, elaborating on his opinion. "What about you Lexie?" he asked.

"Yeah, he's really heated right now. I would just let him cool off before trying to converse with him, or before trying to be his partner." Lexie said, agreeing with Matthew. "Hmm," She thought as she pondered Matthew's question, "Well, I agree with you about Sheildon being a wall, he's a very bulky pokémon who can take hits well, but Jezebel has a strong connection with her pokémon, I know she's trained them well." She looked at her two friends and then back at Matthew. "I think it's anyone's game, we just have to see what their strategies are."

Wes listened intently to the commands of the opposing trainer and his mind cunningly began to formulate his counterattack.

"Now this is a battle! Alright, Shieldon back up from the Water Gun and use Iron Defense! Growlithe, counter that Tackle with your Flame Wheel!" he shouted his commands as the opponents creatures followed their plan.

"Shield!" answered the Rock and Steel type Pokemon as it backed away from Omanyte's spray. Its body glowed a metallic, gray before returning to its original hue. Growlithe barked in acceptance of the plan and its fur ignited into a blaze. The Puppy Pokemon launched itself towards the oncoming Fennekin as a ring of writhing flame.

"Vixie, fall back!" she desperately ordered, wincing when the tiny fox was unable to stop in time.

"Fenn!" Vixie cried in pain as she ran headfirst into the flames. Scrambling away, she furiously shook her head, seemingly perfectly fine once the initial shock wore off. She glared at the puppy and dashed back to her trainer, as commanded, and made sure to skid in the mud so that some flew at Growlithe.

"Good job, Vixie. Ammon, use withdraw and don't come out." Vixie snickered and Ammon made cheerful noises as he happily went into his shell. They knew this strategy.

Wes' eyebrow raised at how indirect the Water Gun from Omanyte had been. He studied the field for a moment and suddenly thought, She is making the field to her advantage. Clever girl. Jezebel announced her commands to her partners just as Wes' own followed his. Growlithe howled in excitement at the fiery strike on Fennekin as the small Pokemon fled back to its trainer. The Fire Pup shook itself of the mud that had been skidded upon it and waited for the next command.

Once more, Wes questioned the opponents Pokemon as one hid inside of it's shell while the other snickered. He announced his next command immediately,

"Growlithe, use Helping Hand with Shieldon! Shieldon send your Smack Down to Fennekin!" The pair followed the command quickly. Growlithe began to stamp it's front paws against the muddy earth and howl encouragingly towards its partner while Shieldon began to glow from the chant. Then, it levitated a small piece of earth before its large head. The earth dried and hardened at the will of the Pokemon and with a cry from Shieldon, the rock hurdled towards the Fox Pokemon on the opposing side of the arena.

"That's enough!!!" Professor Sakura shouts as she jumps in between the battling Pokémon. "You both did GREAT! ♥" she shouts with a cheer before patting all of the little Pokémon "I've seen what I need to see, no need to beat each other up" shouted the professor with a smile "whoooooo's next?!"
She asks as Alan returns to the roof, stepping forward into the ring "alright blondie, you'll get your wish." He taunts the larger boy pulling two pokeballs out of his hoodie pocket and holding them.

The professor could sense the bad blood and frowned but allowed the match to continue as the sandy haired boy stepped up to face Alan calling forth his own Pokémon, Raichu and ghastly to meet charmander and treeko.

Matthew noticed Alan coming back onto the roof as he swiftly challenged the blonde boy from earlier. "Uh oh. Things are about to get ugly." he said to Lexie as he observed the situation. He was surprised that the professor allowed the match to continue regardless of the obvious anger that lingered between the two trainers. "This battle's gonna be intense." he said.

"Huh?" Jezebel said, leaving her mouth open and her eyebrow raised. "That's it? Come on, I had a strategy and everything!" she complained, her pokemon howling in disappointment as well.

"Hey those guys battled amazingly!" Mike told Lexie and Matthew, clearly impressed. He saw the hooded student looking angry and decided that Lexie and Matthew were probably right. Then he began to become worried. "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mike, but when those guys fight things might get worse than with the two that just finished," Mike told Lexie and Matthew.

Shieldon's Smack Down crumbled just before hitting Professor Sakura who had jumped in front of it. Wes stood in disbelief as the two new competitors walked to their sides of the field. Growlithe howled its disappointment and Shieldon turned to look back at Wes forlornly. Dratini slithered to the pair on the field and cried her encouragement. The trio went back to their trainer as Wes' face grew to a smile.

"You guys did excellent out there. No need to be so down! We'll get another chance soon." he said warmly. He began to walk around the field and passed Alan on his way to the seats.

"Good luck out there, man!" he exclaimed. He made his way for Jezebel and shouted to her before the next battle began,

"You guys were fantastic! Even the little bit that I saw proves that you've got a special connection with your Pokemon." Wes adjusted his glasses and smiled at the Pokemon around his feet.

"Charmander! Smokescreen, Treeko Agility!" Alan called orders to his Pokémon as a cloud of smoke billowed over the arena.

The other trainer immediately went on the offensive having Raichu call lightning bolts down through the smoke while ghastly searched around the edges for the two hidden Pokémon

Alan waited for a moment watching for one of the Pokémon to approach the smoke. "Charmander! Dragon Rage! treeko bullet seed! On ghastly" he shouted swinging his arm to point directly at the ghost Pokémon hovering above the smoke cloud.

A flush of blue light emerges from the smoke followed by a blast of draconic energy blowin the host Pokémon skyward as a streak of bullet seeds whipped out from several feet to the left pounding the ghastly two.. then three then four times fainting the ghost Pokémon which comes crashing to the ground.
Professor Sakura moves to interrupt the fight but jumps back just in time to avoid a thunder strike from the Raichu.
The blonde boy calls back his ghastly as the smoke begins to fade revealing the two starter Pokémon, the mood of their trainer obviously having an effect on their grit.

"Same goes to you," she said, trying to rein in her anger at being interrupted. "Your pokemon have great reflexes," she complemented. Then she broke out in a grin. "But we are finishing that battle during lunch!"

She wanted to banter more but Vixie began crying at her, waving her muddy paws in the air. "Okay, okay, Vixie, I heard you the first time," Jezebel said before cradling the fox like a baby and cleaning her paws with a moist towelette. "Moist towelettes, never leave home without some if you have a water type and a fire type," she advised.

Wes grinned at the fellow trainers comment,

"I was thinking the same thing. After lunch it is." he laughed at the dainty Fox Pokemon. "Seems like you've got quite the handful!"

Suddenly, the battle erupted behind him and the party leaped back from the field. Wes watched in amazement as the trainers on either side gave quick commands to their adept partners. See, what did I tell you. This guy with the hoodie is something to talk about. he thought excitedly. He watched as the Ghastly fell from above the smoke cloud, instantly fainted from the powerful Bullet Seed attack.

"That was amazing! Did you see that?" he called to his fellow trainer beside him. His attention was drawn to the Professor's meager attempt at stopping the battle and the worried look upon her pink-framed face. This doesn't look good at all. his mind voiced.

"I wish I could see it all," Jezebel told him as she tried to watch and clean the muddy paws. "Damn, Vixie, how hard did you step in the mud?"

The tiny fox pinned her ears in shame. She hate d being filthy but she was kind of hoping it would hit Growlithe in the eyes.

Jezebel softened at the miserable pokemon. "Don't look like that, you did good. Your long fur is just a pain to clean sometimes."

"Doesn't help with all this smoke, either." he waves his arms about to try and whisk the heavy smoke away. Wes looks over to Vixie and her trainer,

"Vixie's a fighter, Jez. As long as you're in the corner waiting to clean her paws off, she won't care how hard she steps in the mud." he chuckles at the image partly clouded by smoke.

She chuckles. "That's true; you're a pretty great trainer, you know that?" she asked him. She was impressedd by how well cared for his pokemon were. She didn't hold herself to a great standard because she felt she had a cheat sheet for parents.

Wes' face grew to a bright crimson at her comment and he only hoped that the smoke was enough to mask it. He fidgeted with his glasses nervously and spoke,

"You're not so bad yourself, Xienstien." he responded, a grin playing out on his face.

Lexie frowned, a little disappointed, "Aw man, it was just getting good." She was excited to see how the battle would turn out between Wes and Jezebel. "Hey Mike, i'm Lexie. It's nice to meet you." She said as she smiled. She couldn't wait to see who was going to go next. Her mouth slightly dropped when she saw Alan and the bully from earlier getting prepared to double battle. She learned over to Matthew. "Yeah, this is going to be intense. It's going to be pretty ugly." She said, worried the battle might get out of hand. "Hopefully Professor Sakura can keep them from beating each other senseless."

Alan too ignored the professor as he waved his hand in front of him "go go go" he shouts as his little Pokémon begin to close the distance too the Raichu.

The large yellow mouse lets loose bolt after bolt of thunder each just narrowly missing one of the two nimble starters.

With the gap closing further each second the Raichu let out an intense thunder wave attack causing the two starters to tumble into the dirt only a few feet away.
"Charmander Dragonrage! Quick!" Alan shouts but the professor had taken this opritunity to intervene. Sending out her own Pokémon, sylveon to block the dragon rage attack. Thanks to the fairy typing Sylveon received no damage from the attack

"Both of you! That's enough!" The professor shouts. Voice angry, void of the bubbly cheery tone from before. "Pokémon are not tools to settle personal differences! It's disrespectful to your Pokémon!"

Alan nodded to the teacher returning his Pokémon to their balls before walking off to stand among the classmates he had become aquainted with.

The sandy haired boy does the same except storming off into the school building.
"Well.. now that that's over, has anyone else not had the chance to battle today" professor Sakura addressed the class.

Mike watched the two's Pokemon clash even after the Professor intervened. "If it werent for sylveon, who knows what would have happened," Mike thought. Then the professor asked if anyone had not battled. "This is my chance," Mike thought. "Professor I haven't had a chance to battle," Mike said while raising his hand.

Alan approaches mike from behind and places a hand on his shoulder "you're my roommate right?" He asks "I could be your partner if you like, my name is Alan by the way"

Wes peered through the lifting smoke at the battle before him with mixed emotions. The pure strength of trainer and Pokemon is awesome but isn't it getting to the point of too rough? he thought to himself as the pair of starters directed by Alan fell to the dirt. A bright flash erupted from his peripheral vision and he swiveled to see a valiant Sylveon trotting to intercept the commanded Dragon Rage. Its pink ribbons twirled before it and the attack was simply dismissed. At the shouts from the Professor, Wes flinched, suddenly realizing that this was not the Professor Sakura that he'd met at the beginning of class. The fire in her eyes that was once passion was a mixture of fear and anger. The young trainer shook himself of the image as he heard the voice of a student he hadn't met before behind him. Wes turned to see the young male approach the now smoke-free battlefield with a hand raised.

At the reveal that the young trainer didn't have a partner, Wes was tempted to raise his own hand and volunteer. Yet, then, he remembered that he had already battled and fought the urge. He was utterly relieved when the trainer that had fought the previous battle came to the rescue and offered to be the young male's partner. At the mention of his name, Wes made a mental note to introduce himself after class.

"Nice to meet you, Alan. Wait a second you're the guy I dragged into bed?! How could somebody that tired turn out to be so strong? Whatever. Sure, I'd be fine with you being my partner," Mike said a bit confused. "This guy sure is strange," Mike thought.

Matthew literally was in shock of the battle. It was back and forth a battle filled with intensity. The boy had no idea who was stronger or who had the advantage but that didn't matter to the blonde haired boy nor did it matter to Alan. They just kept going at it one attack after the other. Even when the professor made an attempt to intervene she was completely shut down by the students. The battle carried on for a short while after when the professor finally caught her chance to stop the fight and scolded both of the boys for battling like they did. "Wow...call her bubbly and happy all you like, but when she's angry she's angry." Matthew said, in awe of the professor's drastic shift in attitude.

He took a look around at Wes, Jezebel, Lexie, and the other trainer whose name he hadn't learned yet. As expected, all of them were also surprised at the battle and the professor's actions in one way or another. "Just another day at BTU I guess." Matthew said under his breath. It was complete chaos in the classroom. "Who knows what could've happened to...everyone in here if that battle was allowed to continue." he said to his friends.

He then sat back and relaxed as this Alan guy was getting up to battle again and this time in a more leisurely setting hopefully. He was battling that trainer who asked about him earlier and Matthew leaned in, wanting to see how this battle would go. He didn't remember seeing this boy at the entrance exams either so he definitely wanted to have a look at his Pokemon in battle.

"When you finish at the top of your class, What better reason could you need to party a little.... Or alot... I overdid it" He laughs and scratches the top of his head as he takes his position across the field from Mike selecting two pokeballs from his pocket he calls out Treeko and Vulpix "Are you still good to fight?" He asks Treeko who responds by nodding and adjusting the twig in his mouth.
"Your move Mike!" Alan calls out to his roommate, Offering a friendly smile

"I guess some partying is good every once and a while," Mike thought. He proceeded to enter the arena. "Alright I can counter him. I can win," he thought confidently. He noticed Alan's smile. "Hey just because I'm your room mate doesn't mean you have to go easy on me!" Mike shouted across the arena. He then released Gible and Cyndaquil. "Gible used sand attack! Cyndaquil smoke screen!" Mike ordered. While Treecko and Vulpix were distracted, Cyndaquil used Smokescreen. The arena became full of smoke and neither trainers could see their Pokemon. "Now Cyndaquil use Ember on Treecko, Gible use Dragon Rage on Vulpix!" Mike whispered loud enough for only Cyndaquil and Gible to hear.

The sudden mood swing of Alan shocked him, yet more surprising to him was the similarity between Professor Sakura and Alan. He sighed loudly and walked towards the bleachers behind him, eager to get their before another battle began. Wes quickly sat with his Pokemon in a way much like before and prepared himself for the next battle. If this guys Treecko can just simply walk back into a battle after being electrocuted, then this trainer is in for the beat down of his life. he said to himself. The Pokemon sitting upon his lap looked up at him as if in agreement and then abruptly turned back to the field. Wes noticed Matthew and Lexie beside him,

"You guys are next, right?" he questioned the pair. Suddenly, another battle had begun and all his attention was drawn to it. He marveled at the similar strategy that Mike now used against Alan. Seems like you can expect a Dragon Rage and Smokescreen in a double battle with a Fire and Dragon type. he thought smiling.

Matthew's eyes had been glued to the battle that was in its beginning stages and he almost missed Wes' question. "Oh...uh yeah me and Lexie are the last ones I think." he said to the trainer. Most people weren't a fan of going last due to nerves and things of that nature but Matthew didn't really care one way or the other. As long as he wasn't being completely left out then he was fine. He was really excited for his battle with Lexie too. Come to think of it he didn't see her fight during the entrance exams either so he was curious. Then the boy took another look around the room and realized that all these people that he'd become friends with on this first day were people that he never saw during the entrance exams. "Is that even statistically possible?" he thought to himself in his head.

"Treeko dodge with agility! Vulpix jump into that ember and use hex on Cyndaquil!"

The Pokémon respond quickly treeko using his heightened speed to race towards gible while Vulpix allows the ember to strike her full force along with the dragon Rage as she launches a flash fire powered blast of ominous dark energy at the other fire Pokémon. The dragon Rage then hits its mark sending the little fox rolling several feet across the arena, it takes her a few moments to regain her bearings before she stands again shaken but not beaten.

"Cyndaquil have an ember ready. Now go right next to his Treecko. Gible use sand attack on Vulpix and then Dragon Rage," Mike ordered. Cyndaquil got near Alan's Treecko and waited patiently for attacks. Gible distracted Vulpix with sand attack and prepared a dragon rage. "Cyndaquil if Treecko uses a ranged attack use Ember twice," Mike told Cyndaquil calmly.

"Cyndaquil grab him by the tail and use multiple ember attacks! Gible use sand attack and multiple scratches!" Mike said.

Treecko's agility allowed him to outspeed the Cyndaquill jumping and turning in the air preparing to bring down a powerful slam attack onto Gible as the ring of fire began to spin and grow around the two Pokémon

"He can't get away now, Bullet seed point blank!"

Lexie stared with her mouth wide open. She couldn't believe what just happened. The battle between Alan and that guy and Professor Sakura and her Sylveon saving the door has completely shocked her. "I'm just glad she stepped in when she did but wow I would have never expecting that from her." She said, adding to what Matthew said. She then watched as Mike and Alan prepared for their double battle. Lexie took a deep breath and calmed down, "Guess we're next after them, be prepared to get your butt kicked." She said to Matthew, lightly nudging him. She studied the Cyndaquil, Gible, Treecko, and Vulpix and became engrossed in the battle. She wasn't sure who would win or what would happen, but she was excited nonetheless.
