Private/Closed The Paragons - Act I

Her target jumped up and levitated. She wasn't sure what she expected. Espers, from what accounts she had heard of them, were good at controlling their battlefield. This teenager was no fool, clearly. Already figured out her range was pathetically short. As a result, she was at a severe disadvantage.

Granted, it was a severe disadvantage against him. Loufe just left the path clear open for Techno. Necrodytis quickly had changed targets. "I SUPPOSE YOU'VE EARNED SECOND." She scraped her claws across the barrier at his feet once, before continuing on towards Techno. The beams he had fired, one simply tore through her cape again. The other however, had pierced the cape and hit her armor. A soft voice chimed in Necrodytis's ear. Damage detected in Spine guard No. 5. Avoid sustained damage to retain defense of spinal cord.

She took this advice wordlessly, as she was upon Techno now. Menacing above the girl, ready to bear down on her with her jagged claws. "DEATH AWAITS."

Forsythe sighed loudly "Now Max, I'm not gonna leave until I am certain this interaction is finished and you have left the woman alone, as for a fight, don't think that just cause we're both Paragons I won't knock you on your arse right here" he was becoming more and more agitated and it probably wasn't smart to antagonize Max but at this point he wanted a fight, just to blow off some steam. He looked straight at Max and glared into his eyes, silently challenging him.

(Sorry for the SUPER LATE REPLY HOLY MOLY!)
Max growled. "I needed to prove my point! You don't just-" He began to say, then Forsythe sighed loudly. He didn't turn around completely, instead, he just glared at him out of the corner of his eye as he began to talk. "What'd you say?" He said, turning around. "You wanna go, old man?" He said aggressively, then got the point at the glare. Their eyes locked for a second. "Okay then!" He said, then began to charge up a blast, but didn't release it yet, instead waiting for Forsythe to attack.

"Hey, that's cool!" Leo said, intrigued. "You're like a healer class in a video game." He told her. "And you can transform into a bird too! You're like if the word peace was a person! And you could use that ability to get to someone quickly and heal them." He said, finding an upside. "That's cool! See, your power isn't all bad! You could be super useful if you wanted to!" He told her, looking on the bright side. This girl didn't seem to like her power much, but Leo personally thought it was real cool.

Forsythe gave a grin, finally something to help him blow off steam and hopefully something to help Max chill out also. He took a low stance and then threw out a powerful uppercut aimed straight at Max's chin. He knew that whatever Max threw out wouldn't be a problem for him but he would have to make sure that they didnt hurt anyone around them. He would admit that he tended to neglect his physical surrounding but he almost always made sure no living thing was in harm's way, except maybe plants.
@Captain Pokémon @ThePlayfulFox

Max sidestepped surprisingly fast and avoided the uppercut. He grinned eerily. Finally, he could take his anger out on a non-villain without getting invited to court! He decided to stick to close combat, one of his specialties. He distributed the negative energy throughout his body, so his overall physical combat prowess was enhanced to the likes of a superhuman. He jumped over Forsythe then quickly changed directions by using a small midair blast, then once he was close he fired a powerful red blast, but it wasn't very large since there were innocents nearby. "YOU'RE DEAD!"
Max yelled.

Forsythe smirked, he had been doing this longer than anyone, so what if his opponents were stronger than those in the past, he was always one to adapt. He figured out Max's plan off attack based on his choices and then acted, ducking down and rolling away from the blast, he jumped up and then dashed towards Max, he zigzagged as he went to assure that Max couldn't hit him and then faked with a second uppercut while the real attack, which was a side kick to the head was already in motion.

Being celebrities, there was already plenty of attention on the pair before they ever started their brawl. As the fight drew on, a crowd began to grow, phones lifting out of pockets to record the event. To these people, this seemed like a scuffle. A friendly competition. But to the media, this would be a perfect opportunity to cast doubt and shadows over The Paragons. To accuse them of lacking restraint, accuse them of disregarding public safety, and so on. This was something Patriot understood all too well.

Just as Max was making to block Forsythe's fake attack, his leg was suddenly caught in the air by a large hand. Patriot stood beside the pair, his other hand grasping Max's shoulder- and lightly squeezing. This was effortless for the leader of the Paragons, but to Max and Forsythe, this slight squeezing was nearly enough to break their bones beneath his grasp. He didn't however. Instead, he let go, allowing the two of them to recover, now that he had their full attention. "Fighting in public, are we?" He asked, smiling brightly, though his eyes flashed menacingly at the pair. "You're Paragons. Act like it. We have a training room for a reason." He glanced about at the gathered crowd, and waved his hand at them, flashing his teeth in a broad smile. "It's alright, people of New York. I'll straighten them out." He threw a wink at the phones and cameras before looking back toward the two Paragons, smile sliding off his face. "Pull a stunt like this again and I'll turn you both into paste." He threatened quietly, before smiling again. "Now get out of here, you rascals. Actually, Forsythe, I'd like to talk. Run along Max."

Angel blushed at what Leo said about her powers. "I mean, when you put it that way, it sounds pretty cool. But the pain thing," she winced in pain once more. "Is something I really don't like." She gave a sigh. "Is it bad I kinda don't like the Paragons? They're so quick to violence. Maybe if they start talking to the 'villains' things would be better off." She gave a sigh. She then realized she made a mistake. She just met the guy and she said something extremely controversial. Of course, her reasoning isn't like many others, it was due to her personal beliefs about violence and her pacifistic nature.

Destiny decided to watch the fight, not out of awe or anything of that nature, but out of curiosity. It would be nice to see how they fought. Then everyone got out thier phones to record the fight like the sheep they were, basically fawning over the two 'heroes', if you could call them that (after destroying the city). Then the leader of the Paragons stopped the fight with his charming smile and cocky attitude. Destiny always found him a bit fake, as if he were only acting for an audience. No one spoke like that in real life. She decided to stick around and observe, not like she actually had to be anywhere, she just wanted to get home quickly to hope back on her computer to give her findings online.

Loufe leapt backwards when Necrodytis jumped at him, leaving his thin platform to shatter, before looking in horror as Necrodytis ran underneath him, her sights set on Techno.
"Wha-Hey! That's not fair!" he cried, leaping sideways off his platform, before summoning a barrier to jump diagonally off of. He landed on his hands, barely making it in between Necrodytis and Techno, but with little time to spare. With barely a second to spare, he instinctively kicked, using his feet to direct Necrodytis' claws away. He winced as he felt them scratch his foot, but it was only a cut. He should be fine.
Probably. he thought, ignoring the chill in his spine.

Hitori had brought her gauntlets up to catch the strike, but Loufe somehow managed to slip between them before the strike connected. She barely managed to retract the blade without slicing open his back, equal parts irritated and grateful. I’m not helpless, you know, she thought, frustrated. She winced at the small cut he sustained; there was a high possibility that those claws were poisoned. Or maybe that was just her paranoia talking. The girl glanced around them. There weren’t many people in the vicinity, but with the noise they were making, it wouldn’t be much longer before they started to draw a crowd. We need to wrap this up by then if we want to escape, she thought, pulling more metal sheeting from another building. The smoking husk of the sort-of makeshift electrogun lay on the floor, leaving her with only her gauntlets as protection. Worst case scenario, she’d form the metal into a thick wall so she and Loufe could get out of there.

(OOC: dunno what exactly Burble’s planning, but I don’t wanna mess it up, so there’s not much actual action here. But anyways here’s my post lmao)

Forsythe turned to look at Patriot and sighed "I wondered when you'd get here" he said with a sigh as he dusted himself off and stepped away from Max, he then walked over to Patriot "What is it Patriot, it must be important if it can't wait till I get back to HQ" he said with a smirk as he stood patiently waiting for him to go on. As he eyed up Max to make sure he didn't push his luck.

The Esper had jumped between them. Clunk! Necrodytis pulled her hands back at the kick- The metal giving a little way from the force. The recoil of the hit pushed her away, "YOU ARE BOTH QUITE STUBBORN. BUT DEATH EVENTUALLY COMES FOR US ALL." She immediately began going towards Techno again, clearly intent on taking her target out first. The girl would not get a chance to use that sheet metal she was pulling off- Not if Necrodytis had any say in it.

Meanwhile, the parasite was already doing it's work- The wound on Loufe's foot beginning to rot from the inside. However, Loufe had gotten particularly "lucky" in this case, for the cut was rather small, and definitely not deep. Necrodytis hadn't even noticed she had pierced him at all. It likely wouldn't hit bone.

This did not mean it was any less uncomfortable for the poor werewolf.

(Autoing Permission given by Burble)
Loufe got back to his feet and looked at Hitori.
"Are you o-ack!" Loufe suddenly stumbled on one knee, inhaling in a sharp breath. His foot felt horrible! He could barely hear Necrodytis speak. He grit his teeth, before suddenly appearing calm. He was dropping control of his body.
"O.S" he called.
Got it.
Now on all fours, Loufe blew up in a brief flash of magic, black and purple, growing in size. In a second, a large wolf stood in Loufe's place, who wasn't even Loufe himself. It was now O.S, wearing a cocky and excited grin. His foot hurt like hell, but his healing factor slowed the parasite considerably, and after so many years O.S knew a thing or two about pain tolerance. Without missing a beat, he leapt at Necrodytis.
" Your turn" he snorted, rearing back and swinging his fist next to her head, landing a direct right hook with his paw. Necrodytis' was sent back, her mask launched to the side.
O.S took a tentative step forward, looking down at his paw in annoyance and letting out a small growl, before looking back at Necrodytis.
"That was for my foot, crazy lady."
"Huh, they really were a she." Loufe mused in surprise.

"There's a lot I could bring up with you." Patriot stated, folding his arms, staring down at the much older hero. "Maybe about how the mayor wants us to do the police's job and track down a couple of unregistered vigilantes? Or maybe about a new killer in town who made a scene down at the docks? I could also bring up something else. Why did you confront Charles Warren?" At this last statement, Patriot's voice lowered to a hiss. "Not sure if you knew this, but he's the only thing that keeps the government off our backs and from trying to control us. So he calls me to tell me you tried to threaten him? For a girl? What the hell, man. For such a long life you've lived, I thought you were a bit smarter. We can't go making an enemy of Warren. It would screw up everything I've done. I want you to apologize to him. To his face. If you don't, I'll have to do something drastic to make amends for your mistake. Trust me when I say you wouldn't like what I'd have to do. Understand me?"

Four sighed loudly and shrugged, "ok fine, I'll go apologise to him, but only because you forced me to do so" he says before turning and wandering away to go think about this stupid apology. He went back to his bench for now and sat there thinking to himself. He knew one thing, if he was going to apologized then it would at least be somewhere Lilian wouldn't see him do it.

The sudden hit back had both surprised and infuriated Necrodytis. She could practically feel the rage building up in her, as she stood her ground- She grabbed at his arm, claws dripping with her toxic blood.

"You will pay for that with-"

She stopped. Almost like she was choking on her words. The reason she had kept her ground in the first place, the mask took the blow for her, and had been knocked off, voice modulator with it. Her body, why wouldn't it move? Did time slow, somehow? How many seconds had passed? Her face was exposed. This was...Bad. Very bad. Necrodytis wasn't in danger anymore- Now the identity of Janice was at risk. The woman who worked a simple office job, nine to five.

The two in front of her got a good look at her shocked face. Perhaps more pallid than before, eyes wide. Necrodytis stuttered a letter or two out, seemingly not having planned for this situation. Until her face twisted into one of anger, and she did come up with a single word to state her situation.

"Shit!!"

She had to go, cut her losses. Practically dived for her mask, grabbing it up, before immediately heading back to the darkness she had emerged from. A million ways to go about this, and she was taking the worst one. Maybe the best? Necrodytis didn't know, and Janice sure as hell didn't know!

This had to have left the two teens a great deal ponder on. Or perhaps little to nothing at all.

But one thing was almost certainly clear to both parties- this certainly wasn't going to be their last encounter with one another.

O.S' grin grew wider, jumping backward and uncrossing his arms, bringing them up as be prepared for a fight.
Then Necrodytis stopped.
O.S paused as well, curious, before slumping in annoyance.
"Come on lady. It's not as fun if you don't fight."
Once his sentence was finished, Necrodytis yelled out a loud curse, diving past O.S, grabbing her mask, and running off.
"Oi! Don't run you-" O.S cut short, falling over due to the unexpected weakness in his foot. When he looked up, she was gone.
"Unbelievable!" O.S fumed. "The fight was getting good, and she just LEAVES. I was out for five seconds, and noooo, I'm apparently not allowed to enjoy it. Isn't that just cowardly?"
Loufe was starting to freak out. "Dude, no, please. Let me back out, let me."
But O.S refused. Loufe still felt a little weak, and O.S barely was let out, so his strength was barely waned. The werewolf put his paws on his hip and huffed.

“What are you, bipolar or something?” Hitori asked wryly. It bothered her that their opponent had just run away; they could pop back out of nowhere at any given moment, now. But she got a gut feeling it wouldn’t be very soon. “A bipolar werewolf. Or dual-personality, I guess.” She chuckled. “What a pair we make.”

The girl turned to the sheet of metal she’d been tearing away from the wall of a building. She pressed it back up against the building before sealing it up. No point in being wanted for property damage as well as theft, she thought, holding in an ironic laugh. “Anyways. Sorry I dragged you into my mess, I’m kind of wanted for theft in pretty much all the big tech industries around here. Heh.”

O.S looked back at Hitori. He almost denied the bipolar thing, but decided he didn't really care. He rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, girlie. I'm the one who sticks my nose into everyone's business. Not like I haven't made enemies myself."
He heard a quiet groan from Loufe, and sighed.
"Dude, just tell her. She almost figured us out by the first minute."
With that, he looked down to see his foot fully healed, and dropped his control, disappearing in a flash of black and purple light, leaving an embarrassed Loufe with his hands on his face. He sighed as well.
"Fiiiine. I may as well be honest. That wasn't me, and I'm sorry about him, he's sorta my conscience, but extremely self-centered and in control of half of me. I call him O.S, short for "Other Self". So, I guess I am crazy. Sorry." he grinned weaky.
O.S chuckled mentally at Loufe's description of him. Conscience? If only he knew....
Maybe he should tell Loufe, his reaction would probably be hilarious.

Hitori grinned as she finished sealing up the metal wall. She wasn’t sure why, but there was something about this guy... he was funny. Not funny haha, but funny intriguing. One of these days my curiosity is gonna get me killed. But still, now that he got himself caught up with me, they’ll be after him too, if only for information on my whereabouts. Best to stick together for now.

She reached into her jacket before pulling out a piece of metal roughly the size of her palm, in a shape that resembled a spider. She twisted a knob on it until it began to glow with a soft blue light, and its “legs” lifted it off her palm with a hydraulic shunk. She placed it on the wall she’d just sealed and watched it scuttle off. It would retrieve her tech before returning to her, wherever she was. It may have been a security risk, but it was a calculated one. Besides, those bots were extremely difficult to catch; while it didn’t have any weapons, it was small and fast, and could turn on a dime, doing a full 180 without slowing at all. She straightened up with a sigh.

“Okay. Guess we should probably blow this joint, eh, werewolf-boy?”

Loufe looked up in surprise as Hitori didn't question anything. Then again, he basically told her what she already knew.
Once he looked up, he paused as he saw Hitori summon a spider from her hand, which then crawled its way across a wall. Loufe stared at the mechanical creature in confusion, then snapped out of it when Hitori asked him a question.
"Oh! Um, sure, I guess. Let's go...um, Techie." he answered awkwardly, trying to go along with the nicknames.
He smiled in relief; she looked much more friendly now.
"Really? Techie?" O.S butted in.
"Shut up, you call everyone girlie or kiddo."
"I'm a figment of your imagination, I can do what I want. You're the crazy person."
Loufe sighed.

Max didn’t need to be told twice. Patriot was one of the very few people who actually scared him, and Max didn’t want to get on his bad side. He aimed a blast at the floor and went soaring into the air, gone. He landed on top of a building and sat down with a sigh.

Leo raised an eyebrow. That was a first. Everyone seemed to really like the Paragons, they protected the city after all. “I know that they are pretty quick to violence, especially Iratus and Patriot, but most villains just...can’t be talked to.” He said seriously. “They’re ruthless and won’t just talk things out and go quietly. No persuading them.” He looked at Angel and smiled once more. “Not to be depressing or anything! I’m just giving my opinion on the topic. I do agree they could be less violent though. Whenever I run into a villain, I just apprehend them and call it a day. No useless fighting. Although I guess that’s easier for me to do than most, considering my power helps me do that quickly.”

As Nate was walking to the school he hears commotion outside, As he sees Max fly off into the distance "Probably Patriot again.. As always" Nate grips his bag tightly and walks into the school "They think they're good.. they just grab an excuse of what they do.."

8 Days Later...

Patriot
The sun beat down upon the city of New York. Patriot could be found in the upper stratosphere, floating lazily on his back, leg kicked up over his knee, hands resting behind his head, eyes closed. Not a care or worry in the world. After all, what was there to worry about? He was beloved by millions, didn't have to pay taxes, didn't even need a job, couldn't be hurt and could win any fight he damn well pleased. No, things didn't get much better than this. So this was what he did in his free time. Lounging about the skies, relaxing and enjoying the pleasant breeze that whipped his cape around, sometimes wondering about how his parents were doing, but never bothering to visit them. Why? He wasn't sure. They'd been good parents, but he just found he never had the time. Too busy relaxing or saving the day. And relaxing was very important to him. After all, a lot of stress came with the things he did.

Yin Li
"Seventeen." Yin Li couldn't help but growl out the number. "Eight days, and seventeen more bodies since the event at the docks."
Before her sat some of the police force behind tables, staring attentively at her. Behind her sat a map, pictures and pins and threads strung up all over it. "We don't know who's behind it. But we do have our suspects." She turned on a projector, pulling down a white screen to cover the map. The projector displayed three images. None of them were very high quality, but they all clearly displayed three individuals. Individuals known by the public. Two of them, at least. "Sparkblade and Crosshair. We have no evidence to suggest that they're NOT in league with this third individual, dubbed 'Massi' by anonymous sources. They've appeared at every sighting this creature has been at. Some witnesses claim they fought it. This is as of yet unconfirmed. So consider all of these individuals extremely dangerous, and extremely hostile."
"Ma'am, we've worked with Crosshair and Sparkblade before. How can we assume they're in league with Massi?" One of the Officer's asked. "Because we don't know what's going on. Better to be safe than sorry, lieutenant. Allegiances and minds can change. Any other questions?"
When nobody spoke, she nodded, turning off the projector and lifting the white screen. "Good. The Paragons aren't doing anything about this, so it's up to us to step in. Dismissed."
With that, the room cleared out, leaving Yin Li to look over the map, trying to find a connection between the dead. These seventeen weren't even all those killed by Massi, she was sure of it. These were only the ones linked to it. At least fifty other people had gone missing the last week, and she was certain most of that was Massi's doing.

Charles Warren
Charles Warren. The expeditionist. The explorer. The seeker of lost things. The overcomer of all odds. He was searching for something. Something lost, but always found. Unfortunately for those who found it... they had died. He would be the first to survive. The old man walked through the Mojave desert, accompanied by several other people. None of them carried packs, or weapons. All they seemed to have were the clothes on their back.
"Fan out." Warren ordered, stopping for a moment to look around. "This is where the others disappeared."
He'd been trying to figure out this mystery for some time. He himself had sent a few expeditions in years past to discover what had killed so many people. What made this place such a death zone? It was like its own Bermuda Triangle, just in a smaller location. Much smaller.

Shuzo

Yanking his daito blade out of a steel door with a muttered curse, Shuzo narrowed his eyes, in which red lightning danced wildly, as he watched the target escape yet again. Nearly every encounter he and Crosshair had with Massi involved the parasitic alien claiming a new body, meaning more lives were taken every second they let it get away. Hoping this would be different, the two vigilantes tracked Massi to a self storage unit, and after ensuring no innocents were around to use as targets for Massi with Shuzo's heightened speed, the clash began. In a burst of flames, explosions, and lightning, Sparkblade and Crosshair had pressed the offensive, making sure to close off any open ends for maximum damage; however, their attacks had about the same effect as all the other times they had tried to kill the stupid thing. Taking no visible wounds from anything the duo threw at it, Massi had lashed back with a frenzy of bladed tentacles and sharpened bone bullets, even snapping at them with elongated, sharp fangs. In the end, a slip of focus on closing off any escape routes in the heat of battle allowed Massi to slip away, crawling away at astounding speed with a piercing shriek.

"Swing and a miss," Shuzo muttered, turning to glance at Crosshair. "Can't believe he keeps getting away; I don't want to have to think about what face he'll have next time we find him."

Suddenly, the scene was stormed by a squadron of police officers, likely called to the scene, but it was also likely they were not under the leadership of Chief Li, who would certainly spring at any opportunity to find the vigilantes yet was not here. A straggling innocent at the scene happened to take note of what was happening and had called the police force to report a vigilante sighting before fleeing. Because of the meeting Li was currently conducting, a separate force had been dispatched by a Captain. Shortly after they arrived, the squadron brandished their pistols and shouted for the vigilantes to stop where they were. Unable to stifle a dry scoff of disdain, Shuzo sheathed his blades and turned his back to the police, motioning for Crosshair to follow suit, though he spoke in a hushed voice. "Regroup at your lair in 4 hours, and we'll decide our next move then."

Surprised that the infamous powered individuals were surrendering so easily, the squadron seemed to lower their guard just the slightest bit, but even just one second was more than enough time. Suddenly, there was a bright flash of red light, and a crimson thunderbolt seemed to strike both Sparkblade and Crosshair where they stood. Temporarily blinding the police force, they flinched and covered their eyes, but once everything came back into view, the vigilantes were nowhere to be seen; in place of where their feet had been, a mark with lines branching out had been burned into the concrete.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Shoving open the door with an exhausted sigh, Shuzo let his duffel bag and swords clatter to the ground before stepping into his living room as he gingerly stretched his arms. Another day, another unsuccessful attempt to get rid of Massi; it always ended the same way, and Shuzo was feeling rather jaded by the recurring hunt for the same target. However, that wasn't a valid excuse to leave so many lives at risk of whatever Massi was. Turning to unlock the keypad behind a fireplace painting, Shuzo cracked his knuckles and neck, taking a deep breath as the wall opened up before him. As his eyes rested on the mannequin before him, donned in a suit other than the one packed into his bag, they crackled with lightning, burning with deep resolve. 4 hours, was it? Should be more than enough time to make the final touches.

★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★ - ★

Ignizio

Suddenly, the ground under the perimeter Charles Warren and his men had set up began to shake, kicking up dust clouds and sand. The heat wave followed, an incredibly intense heat that nearly knocked most of Warren's men out. And finally, the ground beneath them opened into a ravine, and upon falling into the crevice, the earth above them was sealed back. Once they came to, Warren and his men would come across a strange room with ancient carvings, hieroglyphics, many accents to the interior indicative of a borderline prehistoric time. The ground beneath them was substantially covered with black dust, feeling strangely like ash when touched. However, the one thing that stood out far more than anything else within the room was a black stone, seemingly sculpted into a rough, rectangular prism-like structure and also engraved with symbols and designs of unknown origin. Upon it laid a man looking to be in his mid-30s, having a defined, muscular build and a tan skin tone. He had long, coarse, black hair and facial hair, indicative of his extremely long stay in... whatever this place was, despite everything else about his countenance that suggested a much younger age. The man was dressed in nothing but beige colored trousers that were tattered and dusty, torn at the ends.

One explorer accompanying Warren on this expedition attempted to draw closer to the figure, studying the flame-mark that seemed to be branded onto his chest, but as soon as he got close enough, the man's eyes snapped open, filled with a deep black. Abruptly sitting upright, much to the surprise of the entire team, he slowly turned to stare at the explorer who had approached him, his gaze unwavering as he looked into the eyes of the now terrified mortal. Suddenly, he reached out with a hand, grabbing the explorer's neck with a tight grip. The man continued to stare at the intruder, his eyes cold and indifferent, but he couldn't say the same for the man before him. Running out of oxygen, the explorer grabbed at the hand wrapped around his neck desperately, trying to wrest himself away from the man's grasp, but suddenly, he began to shout through hoarse breaths, wheezing as the room began to quickly grow in temperature.

"M-my... my throat! It-it burns...! My lungs.....!!"

Now letting out visceral screams of pain, the explorer's hands and legs convulsed, eyes bulging as smoke seemed to seep out of his mouth and eyes. His skin looked as if it had the faintest grey running through the blood vessels beneath it, and with one final scream for help, the explorer was set aflame from the inside, fire with a deep black color bursting from his eyes, nostrils, and mouth. The room was filled with the odor of burning flesh as the fire soon spread to the outside of his body as well, covering his entire person in intense flames. The putrid smell made some explorers gag, and the black inferno was harsh enough to severely burn even the exposed skin of men standing a few feet away. Once there was nothing left of the unfortunate expeditioner to engulf and the fire subsided, the room was deafeningly silent, the quiet broken only by the sound of the same ash at Warren's feet trickling down from the bottom of the man's fist.

Now turning to face the rest of the team, the man's gaze moved from one explorer to the next, finally resting on Warren. As he stared, he got off his seat on the stone and now stood before the expedition team. His eyes remained a deep black, and he finally spoke with a low, chilling voice following a few more moments of tense silence.

"My name is Ignizio. This is what will happen: you will tell me who you are and what your intentions were when you intruded into my dwelling place. Then, you will suffer a fate similar to that of your fellow explorer."

It had been just over a week since Sam had joined the Paragons and it had been … interesting, not what he thought it would be. There were a couple of interviews with the media, a few meetings with the other members which he still hadn't got to know to well but other than that it was very relaxed. Sam had found himself actively seeking out hero work and frequently going on patrol. He didn't mind it but the amount of freedom he had, the ability to just do whatever he wanted was new to him, didn't sit to right. Like Patriot he'd decided to relax but for company he'd chosen a Paragon he was more familiar with.

He'd invited Alan to a small fast-food place, one that specialised in chicken and wasn't too busy. Fame was nice but being able to go out and eat like a normal person was better. They were downtown, the bustling street being mere background noise through the large window. Their food was at the table and Sam, who had insisted he paid for both meals, was beginning to tuck into his chicken burger with chips. "-I helped out with the emergency services a bit, specifically the fire department but other than that I ... suppose I haven't done much" Sam was just finishing his explanation of his week, swallowing the food in his mouth before sighing, a little discontent. "It's ... strange to me, there's a lot more freedom? I dunno, it doesn't feel like we have to do a lot. It- it feels like I'm really having to seek stuff out- is that normal? Do you feel like that?" Alan was someone Sam had grown very comfortable with for a number of reasons. They were both rather new to the Paragons, rather young and both settling in though Alan was more settled than Sam. He was just glad to have a friend really, someone he could talk too.

Lilian had been busy the last week, she was happy to finally have some room to move around, though her normal lifestyle had been thrown off the rails, with how unneedy the person she was stuck to her was, the two always seemed ready to serve the other. She had not seen to much of Warren, witch she found odd, though she did not have a say in it. She had done some reading on her new world, gone out to look for new clothes for herself, and had a lot of awkward interactions with people due to how she was used to behaving. On top of all that, she had been subjected to a lot of tests, not painful, yet. She could not tell what would happen from there, though she gave it little thought.

Lilian brought CL-9 to the park with her, though it would be more accurate to describe it as the opposite. She looked around before seeing Foursythe, smiling and walking over. She gave a curtsy to him "Hello."

Forsythe looked up at Lilian "oh hey, how are you?" he asked standing up and giving a small bow. He smiled "I hope Warren hasn't been doing anything awful to you" he said before stopping for a second as he felt a presence he hadn't felt in a very long time and a worried look came over his face before he shook it away and turned back to Lilian, "sorry about that there"

Larua walked through town pushing people aside and vandalising the odd stall, of course some took it badly and one in particular made a very stupid mistake. "Oi you there, you just walked straight through my flower stall" the man yelled, Larua simply smiled and turned around. The man walked upto him but before he could speak Larua reached out and tore out his spine letting his limb body hit the ground. The masses reacted immediately running in terror, Larua smiled as a women bumped into him only to be thrown into a nearby wall and fall limp. This was just the fun he'd been looking for.
(@Martin Pine and @The Alright Attorney this is happening near your characters was my original plan but it doesn't have to be if you don't want)

Alan listened carefully to Sam as he spoke, occasionally popping a fry into his mouth. He thought back to when he first joined the Paragons, and the how he felt much the same at the time. He took a swig from his drink before letting out a quiet sigh. "I know how feel Sam. Especially since you worked so hard to become a Paragon, only to get to the top and realize theres a lot less to do up here. That's one of the downsides to working with such a large offical team." Alan said, leaning back to relax in his seat. "That's why I try to stay out on the streets as long as I can and outside of the tower. I not that Patriot cares. He either hates me or forgets I exist." Alan's disdain for his team leader was pretty clear, and he's gotten less worried about showing it.

"Maybe after this we can head out and-" Before he could finish his sentence, Alan was interrupted by the sound of police chatter in his ear. He had trained the alien to look out for high alert emergencies. He heard something about a someone with seemingly absurd strength attacking civilians. "Scrath that, we're going now, follow my lead." Alan rose to his feet and quickly set some cash down for his tip. In an instant, his body was covered head to toe in a gray goop, before hardening into his armour. He ran out the store, waiting for Sam to follow.

Angel felt a sickening amount of pain as Larua started his rampage. She tumbled over in the wave of pure torment and pain. She felt like she was dying. Literally. She knew she wasn't attacked herself. She knew exactly what was happening. Death. Violent ones. Her stomach churned at the thought. She picked herself up, hand against the wall of a building. The pain was mostly gone now, but the shoving and mass hysteria still gave people pain. Angel took a deep breath and entered a white, feathery form. A little white dove, like the symbol for peace. She took to the air, the pain a lot less obvious due to her being a bird now. She looked down at the people, pity filled her beady black eyes. The poor, poor, people. Then the two death. She felt sick. How, why? She landed near the culprit and the two Paragons. She felt fury as she looked down. Innocents. Dead. How despicable could people be?

Patriot was interesting to Sam. He'd met so many people who had thought of him as a role model, who'd put him in such a high position as well people who regarded him as the most powerful. Patriot was practically the face of the superhero community yet in person he was different. Prolonged exposure to the man on top made Sam release there was a lot happening behind the scenes, that this great pillar was somewhat cracked and shaky. He was wary of Patriot but didn't distain him like Alan did. "I suppose that's an upside of being in such a large official team. We can more easily get away from the leader" Sam attempted a jest to cheer Alan up, Patriot was a sour subject.

Samuel tilted his head a little as Alan cut himself off, faintly hearing the projected police chatter but not being able to distinguish it. Alan's change of tone was obvious and as the blind hero felt the grey goop overcome his fellow hero he knew this was serious. He used his powers to open up his bag, telekinetically donning a cowl and cape over himself before running after Alan with his backpack now on his back. Once outside he used his powers to pull a large metal disc out of his bag, hopping onto it and propelling it forwards with his telekinesis. He followed after Alan, shoving a communication device into his ear as he used his psychic powers to see the world around him. "What happening Alan?" He spoke through the communication link, his voice firm and serious as they approached the scene.

"Someone is attack civilians just down the street." Alan explained as he took the air, propelling himself with small rocket boosters that emerged from the back of his armour. "And whoever it is seems strong. There are already two casualties on the scene." Alan said, his usual relaxed demeanor was no where to be seen, now he was all business.

He stopped, landing just a few feet away from the assailant and using the suit to analyze them. He was connected directly to the his computer and it's files back at the Paragon HQ. "Adapt, see what you can find on this guy." Alan told his suit, waiting to see what he could learn about them before engaging the enemy.

Larua turned to face the Paragons, "hmm what do we have here, heroes" he said with a chuckle and stepped forward he reached out with his power, examining their powers he noticed on that he was particularly fond of. He smiled and reached out with his hand and several objects around him started to levitate "oh yes telekinesis is definitely one of my favourites" he said as he began to launch anything that was near him at the heroes using the copied telekinesis.

Angel flew to a more secure place to land so she could renter human form. She may dislike the way the Paragons went about things, but she loathed the murderer. He didn't seem to feel remorse, or even a numb cold feeling. No, he seemed to actively enjoy it. World Peace, a world where there was no fighting, couldn't happen if he was around, and that scared her. She landed and transformed back into a human, intending to heal the two Paragons as the fight went on. She knew it was much more effective up close, but she didn't want to draw the murderer's attention.

Charles Warren
"Hm..." Warren didn't seem perturbed in the slightest. Confident enough to even take a step toward Ignizio, passing his team, most of whom were frozen in place to do or say much. "A compromise, then. I answer your question, you answer mine." He stated, a grin spreading across his face. If he had a curly mustache, he'd most certainly be twirling it. "Then, we'll see who comes out alive. Sound fair? Good. My name is Charles Warren. I have searched many years for you. You've killed a lot of my people, and plenty others before that. The entire point of this expedition is to find the source of all this untimely death. So why do you do it? Why do you kill everything you meet? What happens when you meet something that you simply cannot kill... or perhaps meet something that will kill you, instead?"

He didn't show it, but he was most certainly awed by Ignizio. A million different plans were already forming in his head for the uses of Ignizio, and what he could bring to Warren's outfit. What he could bring to the future Warren envisioned.

Patriot
The telltale sounds of a fight reached Patriot's super-hearing. Screams, mostly. A lot. He opened a single eye, glancing lazily down at the scene unfolding, his eye naturally zooming into the scene to see it as if he were there in person. Some crazy weirdo was killing people... two Paragons were there... Patriot shrugged and closed his eye, resuming his lounging. Not his problem.

Yin Li
"-and you know... they got away with Sparkblade's... lightning thing."
"Yeah yeah, don't they always?" Yin Li replied with the roll of her eyes, not even looking up at the captain who'd returned to report to her. Instead, she was busy looking into the list she'd compiled for Massi's next potential victims. He didn't seem organized. The opposite, in fact. So judging from the trail he'd left, she'd deduced his next appearance to a location, rather than a person. It was good enough. Judging from Massi's usual killing habits, she'd need to get there soon in order to catch him off guard.
"Tell you what. There's ways to hinder electricity. Rubber... maybe even magnets for what he can do. Sounds like a dumb idea, but why don't you outfit a special force with special magnets to counter-act Sparkblade? I'll check in on it soon. Excuse me." Li stood, making sure she had her weapon on her, as well as her custom taser, before sliding on a jacket and rushing out of the station, one clear destination in mind.
The heart of Hell's Kitchen.

The scene was horrific from Sam’s point of view. His ‘vision’ allowed him to see everything. He couldn’t see the distinguished red of blood but he could psychically feel the thick liquid pooling on the ground and the mutilated body of the unfortunate victim. He faced Laura, checking that civilians were leaving the scene which they promptly were. First in Sam’s agenda was buying time for everyone to escape, then they could deal with this madman.

Samuel was shocked upon beginning to feel objects floating, not fully understanding Laura’s ability and assuming that he too possessed telekinesis as his power. A construct of orange energy formed in front of Alan and Samuel who’s eyes glowed a dim orange from conjuring up the barrier. It took the hit well, barely cracking from the unconventional but powerful projectiles. Sam flicked his arms out, sending the building sized barrier towards Laura. It didn’t hit him, instead it attempted to hastily capture him. The orange energy curled and formed into a dome, encapsulating the villain if he hadn’t moved in time. “We need backup!”

Lilian shrugged, looking back at her escort a few ten feet away before looking back. “Nothing much, but I think he’s looking for something I simply can’t give him, though I’m not sure.” She looked in the direction he did, though saw nothing. “It’s fine, but what was obverse there?”

Kerco looked down at a paper in his hand, folding it and putting it in his pocket before walking into an alley in front of him, finding two figures around a corner “Hello? Would one of you happen to be Hitori?”

Ignizio

Despite his unmoving disposition, Ignizio's eyes bore a sudden twinge of confusion before slowly fading into normal, human eyes with crimson irises. Stepping forward, he averted his gaze from Warren to focus on the other poor, terrified expeditioners who were cowering in fear, and reaching out with both arms, Ignizio flexed his fingers outward, expelling several wisps of black flames from the palm of his hand. The strands of fire were shot at the explorers' necks, wrapping around them and slowly burning their flesh from the outside as they withered the skin and bone away. The room was once again filled with screams--much louder this time--and the odor of incinerated flesh as the din rang for nearly a minute. Once the screams stopped, the heads fell, and soon, the rest of the bodies were reduced to ash. Now, Ignizio and Warren were alone, having the room marred with death all to themselves.

Returning his attention back to Warren, Ignizio seemed to be studying the man, staring into his eyes as if searching his soul. The old man had maintained an unfazed expression, similar to that of Ignizio when he had disposed of the explorer; this was.. fascinating. He suddenly turned back to the stone, running his hand along the smooth edges as if in a state of wistful reminiscence, but under further investigation, one would find no trace of such sentiment within his eyes. Following an eerie minute of silence, Ignizio spoke once again.

"Even within the confines of this tomb, this stone for a resting place, and nothing but sand and sediment around me, I have been able to keep record of humanity's development through thousands of generations' worth of men with the gall to invade my home. I have met conquerors, researchers, scientists, soldiers, countless mortals who journeyed here for answers, and in my centuries of interacting with mankind, I have never been impressed a single time. No matter the time period, humanity has always advanced, but it has never changed; you mortals with your faith in your weapons, machines, your intellect... everyone, whose ashes you now see at your feet, approached me with confidence and pride, searching my home for something to conquest and pillage for your gain. There has never been anything presented to my by humanity that even interested me, let alone weaken or kill me. When I displayed the most minuscule degree of my ability to anyone who dared to trespass in my domain, their bravado instantly diminished, and their last words were words of cowardice and groveling."

Turning once again to face Warren, he approached the old man before stopping within close proximity of him, looking down on the mortal that had journeyed here, and when he spoke once more, his voice radiated a much more chilling intensity than before.

"
You are no different from these men, so I will make this brutally clear for you to completely understand: you are inferior to me. With just the slightest movement of my finger, I can inflict upon you a pain and suffering so unbearably agonizing that the only purpose you will ever have in your entire life is wishing I had ended it where you stand. You are in no position to propose a compromise with me, nor do you have anything that will ever be able to give you such a position. However, while the fiery passion I can feel in your heart betrays the same ambition I have spent centuries snuffing out, your eyes betray none of the fear, which intrigues me. If you wish to stay alive, you will keep me intrigued, so tell me: what else do you hope to gain by intruding into my home, other than simple closure for your search?"
