Private/Closed Viridian WCS Tournament!

Cole Forrest

Date: August 6
Location: Viridian City, Kanto
Pokemon Team: Thwackey, Croconaw, Corvisquire, Perrserker, Houndoom, Shiinotic
WCS Rank: 70,000~

Interactions: Milliana Barlowe (Cmeriwether6)
Mentions: Jayden Jones and Kurashiki Ki (Hecotoro), Wilford Pine (sSoul)

Watching the other matches, Cole saw how formidable Kurashiki was, but ultimately fell to Wilford. He grinned. He was glad, it left him feeling satisfied a friend-... Yes, friend had continued on. Maybe, they would meet in after this if they both win.

Jayden, however, was a laughing stock. The girl's Metang won - his future opponent - and he couldn't help but laugh at how utterly stupid Jayden was with his Tinkatuff.

Oh well, now it was his turn against the Steel-Type user he had just seen wipe the floor with Jayden. From what he saw of this girl from the lobby, she had a Duraludon, a Metang, and an Alolan Sandshrew. He wasn't sure what else she had, but this should be easy.

After careful analysis and scouring the internet for base battling capabilities of the three Pokemon, he found out that Duraludon had rather weak Special Defense with decent Speed, and had great offensive and physical defense capabilities. He would definitely expect the Duraludon, especially since it was only weak to Fighting and Ground. Given it's better at ranged though, it would be better to get up close, unless she was one of those dimwits who saw a big metal thing and trained it to be physical without actually knowing of its greater ranged potential.

The Alolan Sandshrew likely won't be seen, as their defenses and speed were really lacking. Even though the physical offense and defense were both good, that still didn't make the speed it had any better. The Metang had pretty good defenses, with physical being better, and a good physical attack, but was rather slow and weak when it came to ranged. It was funny how three of these Pokemon were all susceptible to ranged combat, and it made him smile. He didn't know what else she had, but he had little faith in her other Pokemon, as it seemed she would most likely use her Metang and Duraludon for most of the fights.

Her commands were lacking in creativity. Despite having just trained it, his newest Pokemon held quite the knack for commands and using them creatively. As to be expected from a pack Pokemon.

When it was his next turn and after a quick visit to the Pokemon Center's conveniently placed vendor - knowing he'd be using two Pokemon now - he put the two Pokeballs at the forefront of his belt before walking out for the next match.

He couldn't wait to pummel and melt his opposition~.

Hubert Lee

Viridian City - August 6

Beelining for the Pokemon Center located inside the stadium, Hubert promptly restored Phantasm to full health, making sure to also give him ample treats for a hard-earned victory. It had been a smooth win for the most part, but he'd seen the Accelgor take a good number of scary beatings before they could really seize the upper hand. Probably best to let Phantasm sit out for the next battle.

Speaking of which, Hubert glanced at a large screen displaying the tournament bracket for the Normal League competition, and his eyes rested on his opponent for the semifinals. Wilford...? Oh, it was that fancy guy he'd met before the tournament started. Bit of an air of superiority about him, from what Hubert could recall of their first meeting, but maybe such an air was warranted, considering Wilford would be joining him with his own win in the quarterfinals. Well, if anything, at least Hubert could count on yet another fun battle, win or lose. With a deep breath and nothing else to do but get things started, Hubert decided on the two allies he'd be choosing for this round and set off for the battlefield, a small and confident smile of his own pulling at his corners.

Emerging onto the field, Hubert breathed in the air once again, drinking in the cheers of the crowd and the energy of the competition. Taking his place on one end of the arena, he found himself face to face with his opponent, whom he offered a friendly wave and grin while he waited for the terrain to be decided.

"Yo! Glad to see you made it, too; let's have some fun!"

Reina.

Storm was a strong bulky girl, she had demonstrated that several times. Unfortunately, the dead ape had managed to hit a soft spot under her shell. The Lapras cried out as the pain from the Rage Fist echoed through her body.

Reina gritted her teeth, seeing the situation was critical, just like the blow Annahilape had landed. "Life Dew!"

Storm wiggled her ears, trying to regain the energy to heal herself once more, but as she attempted to do so, her body gave out. Her head hit the wet field while the crowd cheered for the end of the combat.

Reina gasped and her eyes tried to absorb the situation as much as possible. All that traveling, all that training and all that mediating and once again they came up short. With a heavy heart she returned the water Pokémon into the confinement of her Moon Ball. Reina gave the Poke Ball a quick peck and a smile before putting it away.

As much as the Metztlian tried to push the disappointment down as she gulped and forced a smile. "Congratulations!" She called out to Reggie before turning around quickly and walking away back into the tunnel she had emerged from.

Reginald Valerias

Date: August 6
Location: Viridian City, Kanto
Pokemon Team: Emeric the Shiny Gengar, Elvira the Musharna, Bob the Shedinja, Legion the Basculegion, Gordon the Annilihape, Crolm the Drakloak, Runes the Runerigus
WCS Rank: 50,000~

Interactions: Reina Cortez (Hecotoro)
Mentions: Emma, Billy (Cmeriwether6)

Reggie stood there, eyes wide and breath seizing.

Even Gordon couldn't believe his eyes and he was the one dealt the final blow.

The bulky pinniped went down to a critical hit twice-powered Rage Fist... But it still felt... Cheap.

This wasn't a win that felt good. It was hard to see Reina's face from here, but he could hear it in her voice. She was breaking.

He didn't care for his next match at the moment, he needed to make sure she was okay. Giving Gordon a smile and a "good job", he returned the monkey and ran out the tunnel he came from, forgetting to do his signature bow that he always did after a televised fight, yet he felt like there was no need to. He figured she'd be heading to the Pokemon Center or moping about outside. Either way, all he wanted to do was give her a hug.

Once he was able to give her a hug, heal his Pokemon, and hang out with her for a bit, he'll return and battle the next person - whoever it is being either Emma or Billy. But right now, he needed to make sure Reina was okay.

He did find her at the Pokemon Center, so he weaved through people as fast as he could to get to her. Once he was close enough, he spoke. "Hey, Reina. Hold on for a second." Taking a deep breath to get back his oxygen, he held out his arms. "Hey, that was a pretty crummy win on my part, and that must've really hurt you considering the everything you put into that only for it to end like that. Here, let me buy you some food or something and hang out with you until my next match." He hoped she'd agree. If not, well... He wasn't sure if he should pester her about it or let her sulk.

Adrianne Silvers (Mystery Rank)
Viridian City, Kanto (August 6th)

Interactions: N/A
Mentions: @OmnipotentOnion (Hubert)

It was a lot to stomach for Adrianne, she normally would not allow any one loss cause her to feel these internal one might say bitter feelings but that fight with Drake really had taken a lot of her confidence and beaten it into the ground; this loss before another packed crowd had not helped things, and it seemed even her attempts to downplay and be a good sport had not fully worked to shake the perception as Hubert had accepted her hand and seemed to try and pass off some encouraging words about her effort and such.

Adrianne appreciated these kinds words, though this funk of hers would take more than one bit of engouement to fully slip out of but she none the less smiled back to him and nodded in kind.

"Thanks, you were great. Now go kick butt and win this!" Adrianne said, a more impression of her usual pep as she turned to walk off.

Adrianne hated this, Hubert was a good guy and a great trainer and this whole two-face act of hers had been a sour spot and she had understood this well. However as she took his words to heart, she wondered if she'd be that trainer that rose to the challenge of if she'd fold like this when adversity had hit her in the face. If she had the talent as Hubert believe, Adrianne seemed to lack the spirit and she knew if she'd fail to sort this mess out with herself she'd not be reaching the same heights as him or others who competed valiantly at this very event for example. For now, she figured the best idea now was to get her mind off it, maybe find a seat to watch the event and plan what to do next after the event had come and gone.

There had to be a solution to fix this mess she had gotten her mind stuck in, she just needed time to find it.

WCS Rank: ~70,000
Team: Monferno, Thwackey, Carvanha, Mimikyu, Kilowattrel, Drilbur
Battling: Hubert Lee(Omnipotent Onion)

Wilford's eyes narrowed on his opponent, grateful he no longer had to wait. Hubert seemed in a good mood, as most trainers would after winning a tournament match. The black-haired trainer appeared eager to bolster his jovial spirit by feeding off the crowd's cheers, finally addressing Wilford by stating his intention to have fun.

The rich young man chuckled at the idea of battling for enjoyment. If that were his goal, he wouldn't be here. Still, Hubert's humility and sportsmanship demotivated Wilford from outright mocking his opponent. Instead of overt ridicule, Wilford envisioned himself pinching Hubert's cheek like a precocious child.

Springs of water erupted from the ground, dampening the trainers' corners. The referee commenced the battle after introducing each trainer. On cue, Wilford unleashed his first Pokemon, Mimikyu.

The Disguise Pokemon shambled onto the moist battleground and silently waited for her foe. Noticing Mimikyu's distinct grey coat, many audience members gasped in surprise before cheering with greater ferocity. The viewers anticipated the outcome of this battle, no matter who it favored.

Hubert's friendly gesture seemed to be met with narrowed eyes and a chuckle, but no words from Wilford. Not paying the cold shoulder much heed, Hubert shrugged and watched as the field's terrain began to change. Founts of water sprayed from beneath the dirt, moistening the field and lending a slightly humid air, and as Wilford summoned his first partner, Hubert quickly followed suit. Touching his chosen Pokeball to his forehead, he took a deep breath and smiled before finally sending his own partner onto the arena.

"Let's do this, Reaper!"

The Scorpion Pokemon burst out of the capsule and landed on the field with a powerful, determined screech, baring its mandibles at its opponent. The crowd cheered as the battle began, and Hubert joined them in marveling at the unique coloration on Wilford's Mimikyu, raising an eyebrow in fascination.

"Nice shiny; here's to a good fight! Reaper, let's get started with [Hone Claws]!"

With a hiss, Reaper quickly began rubbing its claws together, sharpening and polishing them to a wicked point, even creating slight sparks from the generated friction. As it boosted its attack and accuracy, the Skorupi watched the silent Mimikyu, waiting to see how the Disguise Pokemon would respond.

Wilford briefly smirked at the compliment, succumbing to flattery. The smirk vanished upon the Skorupi's appearance, the rich young man recognizing it was time to begin the battle. The Scorpion Pokémon's opening move was to sharpen its claws, heightening its power and accuracy to compensate for its inability to hit Mimikyu with a strong attack. Noticing the Skorupi's inaction, Wilford embraced the opportunity with open arms.

"Mimic!" With the snap of his fingers, Mimikyu's eyes flashed brightly before imitating her opponent, rubbing her claws together to sharpen them to a point. The rich young man anticipated this battle evolving into a game of Torchic. Whether he or his opponent gave in first would be a matter of patience, but the rich young man refused to wait idly.

"Double Team!" Another snap prompted Mimikyu to create a series of clones surrounding itself, sharpening their claws to prime an attack.

Hubert Lee

Viridian City - August 6

Wilford seemed more than content to set up a stat boost on Mimikyu's end as well, even going further as to increase its evasiveness. That was troublesome, and courtesy of his first gym battle against Burgh, Hubert was well aware of the dangers of dragging out a standoff for too long. The momentum would shift in the favor of whoever could successfully press the first offensive, but that too could prove detrimental if done without careful thought.

"Alright Reaper, get in there with [Poison Fang]!"

Despite this, Hubert didn't very much care.

With a hiss, the Skorupi lunged without hesitation into the crowd of Mimikyu, fangs and claws cloaked in malicious venom and at the ready. As soon as it reached the horde, the Scorpion Pokemon swung viciously, slashing its claws and sinking its fangs into every projection it could see, waiting for an attack to eventually make physical contact.

Was this wise? Probably not, Hubert assumed, watching his partner swing with near reckless abandon at everything in its path. Yet, his smile didn't fade. The battle was still young, so there was no harm in swinging boldly.

And it wasn't as if he didn't have tricks up his sleeve either.

A smirk appeared on Wilford's face as he watched his opponent abandon reason to charge into the fray. Though the Double Team clones dwindled in numbers, the real Mimikyu remained unharmed and primed to strike amidst the confusion.

"Shadow Sneak!" With a snap of his fingers, every remaining Mimikyu on the field swiftly projected their shadows toward the recklessly attacking Skorupi, all aiming behind the Scorpion Pokémon. However, only one of the shadows would damage the opponent, the other shadows merely obscuring the exact source of the attack.

He's still smiling, either a sign of ignorance or assurance. Regardless, I can't waver.
