Del yawned quietly, her eyes fluttering open. Sunlight drifted hazily into her smoky room. It had been quite a strange day yesterday. Really, she couldn't quite believe it. Sitting up in her bed, the girl panicked for a moment. Her mask was off! Her poison breath-! But before Del could go into full panic mode, she saw the mural she had painted on the glass wall. That's right... The room was contained. The toxic fumes she breathed had no way of escaping the confines of her room.
As Del got ready for school, she thought back about the strange occurrence of yesterday. Like many other students, she took a visit to the arcade. More simply, Del accidentally wandered into the Bazaarcade. The girl wasn't quite sure what she was doing there. It was an unusual area, full of flashing lights and loud noises. Trying her best to avoid the other students, Del wandered through the arcade and found herself in front of a game, STACKER POWER. It seemed pretty straight forward. Using quick reaction times, studying the moves of the machine, and luck, a player would be able to stack a tower to a prize. The game looked intriguing, to say the least. But Del was not easily swayed. She began to walk away from the machine when she saw... It. Hanging from the prize rack, costing a low 1,000 tokens... Was both the most badass and adorable plushie she had ever seen. It was a kitten wearing a dark hoodie, looking both intense and cute at the same time. Even though Del usually didn't like cute things... She felt the need to get this item.
So Del walked back to STACKER POWER. It seemed a pretty simple place to start, with a high reward. And the high reward was needed, too. Del wasn't exactly overflowing in cash. Taking two grubby quarters from her pocket (change from lunch), she put them into the machine, and the game began.
To her credit, Del wasn't that bad. She was actually, to her surprise, quite good at this rhythmic, stacking game. The reflexes from staying in high alert all the time in the Junkyard were paying off. After a few moments, Del had already reached the lowest prize (a bunch of silly bandz). That wasn't what Del needed, so heart in her throat, Del continued the game. Each level, Del's focus and intensity increased as well. After a little while, Del was on the last level. The mystery prize. With this level, the blocks were so small and moving so fast that it was practically by luck that the stack was continued. Del had passed up many prizes to get to this point, a gift card, a phone case, a pair of sweet headphones, even a 3DS. Del had eyes for only one thing. The mystery prize. It had to be tokens, it just had to be! With a final tap to the button, the tower finally reached to the point of the mystery prize! With a triumphant fanfare, the prize revealed itself to be... a small, black card. Confused, Del watched as the black piece of plastic dropped to the prize slot. What was this, some joke? Del turned the black card in her hand, and found it had some sort of bar code on the back. Strange. Confused, Del pocketed the card and left the Bazaarcade. That was the day, pretty much. She had found Crytsal's note, but, let's be honest, she didn't show up.
But that was all yesterday. Today was a new day. Del took a quick shower and got changed. Arsen perked up as Del left her glass room, her gas mask secured on her face.
"Hey, dude. Combat class this morning." Del said. Arsen hissed happily and curled up Del's leg as Del grabbed her baseball bat, then headed towards class.
