Whoops, sorryShen is the one that accepted me, should be fine.
To be entirely safe, I could hold off on posting until @Inkachu1251 gives the go-ahead, I suppose. According to @Shen: King of the Mist there are people that could be interacted with for now, but none of them are especially urgent or anything, so if necessary I could wait for a bit.
Thanks for the response and the options to start, by the way!
To my knowledge, normal summoning in defense position only happens if the card has that effect. Most of the time cards in defense position are set, and flip effects are activated similarly to the real game.Oh, before I forget, a few technical questions on the dueling aspect of the RP (mostly just rules).
I know duels are mostly an anime style with 4000 LP instead of 8000. Do you also use normal summoning in defense position instead of setting a monster facedown like the anime did? And if yes, how exactly do you implement flip effects, if at all?
Both players start with five cards in their hand normally. Does the player that goes first get to draw a card on the start of their first turn, or are they forced to skip the draw phase of their first turn, following the new(er) rulings of the TCG/OCG?
On the note of newer rulings, in the older rules your field spells automatically get destroyed when your opponent plays a field spell of their own. Does this RP also still use this ruling, or can both player simultaneously have a field spell in play?
Lemme guess, Galloping Gaia?Understandable. The question about field spells was especially relevant for me since I'd planned to have one or two in Kenny's deck. Thanks!
Let's see how your deck does in the RP, maybe Galloping Gaia is balanced considering the other decksWell gee how'd ya guess.
I thought about mostly using Fusion Gate and maybe Gateway to Chaos, though. Galloping Gaia would definitely be in but I'd probably consider it a bit too strong to use in most duels.
Always a good strategy, looking forward to see how Kenny will doMore or less the general game plan, yeah. It's hard to say ahead of time how well Kenny's deck will stack up against the decks of the other characters, so I'd rather not go all in guns blazing right off the bat. If he ends up being too weak I can always add stronger cards later in the RP, but being too good is harder to mend without breaking continuity. Just playing it safe, essentially.
Pretty sure normal summoning in defense is allowed, that's how it was explained to me at leastTo my knowledge, normal summoning in defense position only happens if the card has that effect. We've established that everyone starts with 5 cards in the hand and the player who goes first gets to draw on that turn as well.
Not too many players use field spells, but I'd assume that the older field spell gets destroyed if a new one is activated

Huh, neat. The more you knowIt is allowed.
Oh, I actually didn't realize that, thanks for pointing it out to me. I talked it over with Shen and we are going to keep it for story reasons, but for future duels that is good to know, thank you.@Nukas A few posts ago, Raven used Solidarity in a technically incorrect way.
Solidarity first looks at the monsters in your graveyard, or more specifically, the original types of those monsters. As only Wynn the Wind Charmer was in there, originally a Spellcaster-type monster, the Solidarity boost applies to all Spellcasters you control.
Unfortunately, while Solidarity takes into account the original types of the monsters in your graveyard, it doesn't do that for the monsters you currently control, instead accounting for their current types. Since Zombie World changed Familiar-Possessed Lyna into a Zombie, she normally couldn't get the Solidarity boost, as it only affected Spellcasters on the field.
A few examples to illustrate what I just described, if I wasn't clear;
- Zombie World in play, Clown Zombie (originally Zombie) in GY and Lyna (currently Zombie) on the field -> Lyna gets the Solidarity boost;
- Zombie World in play, Wynn (originally Spellcaster) in GY and Clown Zombie (currently Zombie) on the field -> Clown Zombie doesn't get the Solidarity boost;
- Zombie World in play, Wynn (originally Spellcaster) in GY and Lyna (currently Zombie) on the field -> Lyna doesn't get the Solidarity boost;
- Zombie World not in play, Wynn (originally Spellcaster) in GY and Lyna (currently Spellcaster) on the field -> Lyna gets the Solidarity boost.
That said this is more a technicality of the TCG/OCG itself. There's not really any harm done in not 100% following the game rulings of all cards, especially in this case since the duel already progressed a bit. Just thought I'd mention it, if only for future reference.

Yup, just follow the screamsRight out front of the Ra yellow dorm if memory serves.

Ah, thanks for the ruling. While we will use this in the future, it’s already progressed quite a bit, so it’ll be more so the effect of the curse removal process causing spirits of the cards to act on their own accord, allowing solidarity to keep it’s strength. If that makes sense
Right out front of the Ra yellow dorm if memory serves.
Cool. And does it just look like a normal duel, or is there like mysterious dark Shadow Duel shadows floating around/a scary and unnerving presence in the air?
Huh. I didn't realize it was right in front of the dorm. Kenny was passed out somewhere near the Ra Yellow dorm too, so Dahlia and Kenny are currently actually pretty to where Goule and Raven are dueling.
