The Youthful Sage

Eitri waved away Belowksi's request.
"Perhaps later, we are still far too close to the other competitors for my liking." Eitri said. Belowski's response was... interesting. The vagueness was annoying, but clearly there was other information about this that Eitri was unaware of. With the mention of 'duel monsters' and 'duel spirits', along with the earlier mention of duels, cemented the idea that the duels Belowski referred to were entirely different from duels she had seen in Niðavellir.

"Tell me about dueling, Belowski." Eitri requested. "Where I am from, it is a fight between two parties who want to settle their differences. Most of the time, it is only until their Steam Unit is incapacitated, but more intense ones can go to the death. I am beginning to believe that they are very different in your world."

The Convict Street Fighter

Cody reflexively grabbed his throat as he felt it constrict. Somehow, this masked man was choking him from several feet away! Just by making the gesture! The street fighter attempted to push through it, but as he took a step forward the bird man brought down the hammer. A massive earthquake shook the nearby area, knocking Cody off his feet as well.

Special Move: Bad Spray

As Cody jumped back to his feet, he wrenched a burning branch from a nearby tree and flung it at Vader before following up with a powerful punch.

"Duelin'? Well, maybe P. Crowler could explain it better, but I'll give it a shot. Duelin' is kinda a sport, we learn about it in school and play it, cause it's like a game n' all. But it's also more than a game too, get this, lotta peeps settle their differences with a game of duel monsters instead of comin' to blows. Totally a more peaceful solution, ain't it?"

Belowski pondered for a second, tutoring his head. His almost
Dopey resting smile had turned into a frown. He just remembered another facet to dueling.

"Ahh...but with every game comes party poopers. Sometimes there are bros that have mysterious powers n' stuff and use the game to channel all their trippy energies. I'm usually in the dark 'bout all those things, but I know that there's a lotta peeps that ain't in the world of the living no more 'cause of it."

Bowser
As Buzzo approached, the King of the Koopas prepared himself for fisticuffs. However, the addict did the unexpected, simply using Bowser as a stepping stool to reach Petey! Didn't the punk know who was in charge around here?
But before Bowser could show the human what for, a voice came from behind him.

"Ey!"

Bowser turned to look at the man, who uprooted a tree with a kick! Impressive for a human, but he was out of his league against royalty. He caught the plant, skidding back a short ways, before tossing it to the side. He barked over his shoulder,

"Petey! Handle my light work! I'll see about tough guy over here..."

The koopa then turned back to Nikolai with a shark-toothed, confident smile. He heaved his shelled self into the air, and came down with a stomp to the ground one, two, three times, each time closer to his foe than the last, and creating three energy shockwaves to slide across the ground, intended towards the Russian, but also headed towards Buzzo behind him. After the third shockwave, Bowser leapt over the Spirit, landing behind him and immediately spitting out a powerful fireball.

Megalon
The kaiju's trajectory was meandering in nature, as if it was searching. It wasn't long before the antennae picked up vibrations from aboveground, though, and Megalon made a sharp turn directly towards the loud Mediamon. The Seatopian deity's Omni-Drill shredded through dirt quick enough that he was practically as fast as if it weren't there at all as it approached. It aimed to come up right beneath the Digimon and drill it from below, rocketing out of its hole in the process!

It was coming up...directly from under them!

"Yo! Watch out!"

Mediamon compressed sound waves on the amps on his feet before he flung up with the sound of a base boosted bellow. Air pushed aside as he flew into the air, the Kaiju probably not too far behind.

"Watch this! Hijacking the waves of media, givin' you a movie right off the air! Let's give 'em a hand yoooooo! VirtualVerse!"

The blue screens on Mediamon's arms began to glow. Beams of light shooting out from each of them, interconnecting into a space in front of him. Like thousands of polygons reforming, an image appeared before them. A hologram of a grassy field with a large tank resting atop it appeared. The tank was an armored assault tank, or an AAT for short. atop the tank out of an open port was a single droid, tan and skeletal. It held binoculars, putting them down as it pointed forward.

"Open Fire!"

BLAST!

The AAT fired it's primary battle cannon at the Kaiju. The blast was built for anti tanks, so would it be anti kaiju? Worth a try! It would fire a total of three times if left unattended before it would disappear into cyan polygons.

Megalon!
Megalon erupted from the ground, though he didn't hit his mark. Rather, as he split his Omni-Drill into two once again, he was pelted with a barrage of fiery golden arrows!

"GRAHHHH!"

The kaiju fell back to the ground, landing on its feet. It didn't have time to attack again before a robotic voice shouted the command for a sci-fi tank to fire a potent blast of energy.

"EEEEEPP! EEEEEEEPP!!!"

Megalon was no stranger to tankfire or energy attacks. It usually was just an annoyance, but now that the kaiju was much smaller in relativity to its surroundings, the plasma had left a scorching scar across the monster's carapace. In response, its horn glowed an angry yellow. The tank fired again, leaving another painful mark across another spot on its shell. But before the third shot could be fired, Megalon fired its Assassin-Laser to superheat and explode its target. After the tank was dealt with, Megalon turned to Zed and fired off a second burst of the lightning-like beam!

The Youthful Sage

By this point, the terrain began to become more rocky and sloped. The mountains loomed nearer than ever. Deciding that they could afford a moment to stop walking, Eitri sat down on a fallen tree nearby. The sounds of battle and combat still raged in the distance, but now fainter than before. Sinister plumes of black smoke rose from the forest in the distance. Perhaps fires had started from the fighting. With the weapons Eitri had seen the red and black artificial creation using, it wouldn't have been surprising.

"Okay." Eitri said, looking back to Belowski. "Just to be sure I understand the information you have given me. In your world, there is a sport of some sort called 'dueling'. You use that device on your arm to call forth illusions of 'duel monsters', and have them do... something competitive? Do they fight, or perform, or is it a contest to see who can call forth the most unique creature? There are also some from your world, including yourself, can call forth these 'duel monsters' in physical form. There are those in your world that use the 'dueling' to channel magical energies of some sort."

Eitri leaned back, taking it all in. The fact that some could channel 'trippie energies', to a point of possibly weaponizing them, was incredibly intriguing.
"And this calling forth of the spirits is a game, where you are from? A game, but more than a game. Like, a lifestyle? Most interesting." Eitri said. "Once I've escaped from this 'competition', I would love to look over your duel disk."

Belowski

"Yeah! Somethin' like that dude." Belowski chimed. "They battle it out, or not. All depends on how you play the game. Gotta take out your opponent's life points, or sometimes even just get a specific combo of monsters out to win in one go. Whatever type of duelist you are is the way you can win the duel, can go with whatever vibe works for you. Some like beatin' others up with their brawlin' monsters, and others with by bein' on the defense. Me? I like makin' Mokey Mokey take the lead and make 'em keep comin' back."

There were a lot of ways to play, most of which he wouldn't get into cause of how many there were. She WAS interested in dueling though. What kinda deck would she play anyway? She didn't seem the super chill type. Would a duel spirit reach out to her? Lots of scenarios floated in his head. He ultimately decided to let fate handle it.

"Far out, I'd love to teach ya how to duel. It's a pretty sick gig. But like- wait. That what I think it is?"

He pointed forwards. Past the mountains and into the horizon. In the far distance, a wavy pattern was seen, just barley noticeable. If one could squint, they could see rippling rainbow colors. It spanned as far as the eye could see. There was no doubt about it, the edge was far out in that direction

"Well that's a bummer, man."

The Dark Lord of the Sith

The dark form remained positioned on a knee for a moment, shoulders lightly rising, then falling. Cody made his attempt at an attack, flinging a flaming branch toward the sith.

A red light blinked on the suit's life support, and Vader suddenly rose to his feet, flicking his wrist. The branch changed direction, increasing its speed greatly, flinging toward Dedede as Darth turned, rapidly slashing at Cody before he could quite reach the dark lord, aiming to sever his limb, before quickly following up with a heavy horizontal slash for Cody's chest, free hand curling into a fist before Vader struck the air calmly, using the force to slug Cody in the gut before swinging down to sever his head from his neck.

The Holy Spirit of the Messiah

Nikolai watched as the Koopa King turned to him, calling out to the plant, he called "Petey", that he would be fighting the Russian. Nikolai glanced left, then right. Nobody else was approaching. Could it be? Could he get his desired 1v1?? The Russian's grin returned as he scratched at the stubble on his cheek. "Khoroshiy," he chuckled. Bowser leapt into the air, slamming down to the ground. A strange concussive blast was released, and Nikolai narrowed his eyes at it.

It slugged into him, and he took a step back, though remained standing as Bowser crashed into the ground again, releasing a second wave, this time closer. Once more, Nikolai took a step back, the blast unable to knock him down, yet as the third one came, Nikolai raised both arms into the air.

Bowser slammed into the earth, much closer now, and Nikolai barreled his arms into the ground before him. His slam released a different, though effective, concussive force that smashed into Bowser's, canceling one another out. Then, the large turtle jumped behind the Russian, mouth opening to reveal a infernal glow coming from within.

Instinctively, Nikolai turned on his heel, fist reeled back, before he shot it forward. Flames engulfed the Russian, particularly his fist, though a lot of its power was dispelled, the fist close enough to cause the inferno's force to blast in different directions around them. While it slowed Nikolai's bullet-speed fist, it didn't stop it, and it was aiming right for Bowser's throat, straight through his open mouth.

Dusty McClean

"Beep!" Dusty let out a sound that could only be described as shock as this robot certainly appeared to be a match for Dusty's tactics. Sexy was also shocked, speechless in fact.
Seeing Omega reconfigure again, he began to move to the side, concerned over what could be fired next - And was proven right when a massive purple laser fired right at him.
Last second before it would have hit, however, Dusty's eyes turned a sharp, determined red. No, dying here wouldn't be right. Inferior this, inferior that, maybe Omega was right...
Turning around, Dusty dashed forward as fast as possible, using their skill 'RoboRam', and aiming for a tree a good distance away. Once the laser cleared, Dusty was well out of sight, fleeing into the woods...

Grief

"Are you going to merely going to hide from fate?" Grief mocked Jack, "Where's your fabled speed and agility, Robot." He taunted, continuing his attempts to hack - However it appeared he made no effort to attack, as if doing so would seal his fate in that moment...

Masaru Takahara

"Uh, I'll just hope your okay, little guy." Masaru chuckled a little as Kirby motioned to go that way to the desert - To be rather frank that method of flight was not the strangest thing he had ever seen. "To...that way, we go." He agreed with Leon and Kirby on that regard, unsurprisingly, and began to walk the way Kirby has motioned, though not before giving Kirby a thanking smile.

The Olathian Terror
Buzzo was much too blinded by Joy to even take notice of what was happening to Bowser - all he focused on now was killing this giant plant thing. Tucking in his limbs and going for a spin, Buzzo dropped below the flames and onto the ground, landing on one hand and two feet, a bundle of TNT, tossing it up at the fire-breathing plant, right towards its flame-spouting, open jaws. Buzzo himself was not done however - as the TNT flew towards its target, he himself took out his machete and leapt in a straight line, flying directly below the beast - if the TNT ended up hitting it and knocking it down towards him, he planned on ending it right there by gutting it with his machete like a fish (or if it ended up being blasted off-path, just cut off/into whatever part of its body he can reach).

The Demon of Badwater
Bawling his eyes out as he had realised his new friend had disappeared, Pyro was much too distracted to realise the burning forest fire around him, much less the tearing his suit had gotten from landing in a tree top. Or even the bruising he had gotten from then landing on several branches with comedic timing before promptly falling face-first onto the ground, leaving a pyro-shaped hole in the ground that he barely crawled out of while catching his breath. In his crying, another voice called out to him. This one was understandable, consoling.. and familiar.

" Pyro! Hey, don't cry! You still have me around, and you always will, buddy! "

Looking up, the masked maniac spotted none other than his beloved friend Balloonicorn floating in front of him - imaginary as ever. Quite literally hugging the air, the Pyro's hope and motivation was re-invigorated as he was reunited with his best friend. And now, with his lollichop in hand and the Balloonicorn floating by his side, the child-like arsonist begun skipping around the forest again, much further away from all the chaos, wandering aimlessly with a fire axe in his hands, hoping to find some shelter. Or alternativelly, some more cute creature to give a taste of the lollichop.

The Psychotic Bug
What a disappointment that last guy was! With one punch, he just flew off! Why had he ever thought to try to partner up with such a pathetic loser? Well, guess this meant that Ribombee was on his own for now. Flying high across the skies to avoid all what was happening below, he figured he'd need to stock up first and find a nest before even trying anything. Killing others was fun, sure, but what good would it bring if he did all this killing while completely forgetting to make himself some supplies?

Eitri listened with intent as Belowski gave some explanation of the rules of the duels. Although, what exactly he meant by letting Mokey Mokey take the lead and making them keep coming back Eitri was unsure of. His explanation of the game was interrupted as he looked out into the distance. Eitri followed his gaze, seeing what he had noticed. A large, strange glowing aura.

"Curiouser and curioser." Eitri said. While Belowski seemed disappointed, Eitri did not seem so. She looked back over to Belowski, a curious smile on her face. "And what is it that you think it is?"

"Well, I'm no stranger to walls. And that thing sure looks like one juiced up wall dude." Belowski commented. "Thought we'd be able to see the sights, but looks like we gotta work with what we got. No biggie though, we can still kick it here."

That's when a resounding echo happened throughout all zones. The main counter above ticking down to an orange '25'. The first one had been stricken down.

"Mooookey Mokey!" the floating pillow exclaimed.

"Yup, sure seems that way." The duelist nodded, seeming to understand the creature. "Looks like that violence over there got the better of somebody. A reeeeal drag."

Bowser
"Grk!"

Nikolai's fist made it down Bowser's gullet, triggering his gag reflex.

"KHUEGGH HUEGH HUEEGH HEKKKKHH-"

He coughed out the arm, pacing backwards from Nikolai. The koopa brought up a clawed hand to his throat as he coughed and hacked.

"Ugh, what was that?! I would've preferred you punched me in the face!!
Tastes funny, too..."

Then, he put both of his hands in the air, and through magic, summoned a huge brick boulder!

"How about YOU eat THIS!"

King Koopa pitched the ball towards Nikolai, before becoming a ball of his own, his shell now double-sided. He revved up, spikes flinging dirt behind him, before taking off towards Nikolai. If the Russian dodged, the king of the koopas would skid to turn around and go for another go-around at his foe.

Nikolai

The great big beast gagged on the Russian's fist, earning a humored laugh from the human. That had been undeniably hilarious, and the look of uncertain discomfort on Bowser's face had been, in a word, priceless. The Koopa King then summoned a large boulder over his head. Magic, huh? So it was very likely this creature had some relation to monsterkind, but that was if his world's rules and lore applied here. It wasn't hard to write off most of the non-humans as monsters, anyway, including the earlier robot, taking the performer Mettaton into account.

After the turtle threw his choice of weapon (the boulder), he retracted into his shell, spinning rapidly and closing in. Again, like an oversized bullet, Nikolai burst from the earth, propelling upward and toward the boulder at its zenith. Shouldering the piece of rock that outsized him, Nikolai knocked it into a standstill in the air, completely killing its inertia, before he lifted both arms, hands together, and jackhammered his combined fists into the top of the boulder, sending it like a meteorite for the Koopa as Nikolai dropped out of the sky just behind it, scratching briefly at his nose, for it itched.

Dedede laughed as he saw Vader react to that attack.
"Hehehe! Bet now you feel real stu-"
Bzzt
In a flash, Dedede witnessed a man attack Vader, get sliced, and said man's head get sent straight to him, all in quick succession.
"What the-"
Dedede had seen a lot of stuff, admittedly worse than this, but not nearly to the extent of his pink rival. So who could blame him when, once the head plopped right in front of him, The Great Dedede yelped in disgust, kicked the head up, and slammed it with his mallet, sending the decapitated Cody towards Vader for a beyond-the-grave redemption.

Screwy Wabbit
A line of displaced earth grew even longer as Bugs dug across the forest. Even when the soft dirt gave way to rock, Bugs hardly slowed down as he dug up and over a mountain, until suddenly crashing into something, stopping his escape attempt short.
"What the-?" Bugs popped out of the earth, rubbing his head. He looked up to see a massive wall, sparkling all colors imaginable. A beautiful sight in most situations.
But considering this thing was keeping Bugs in some type of death game, it was a wall of mud for all he cared.
Bugs put his hands on his hips, about to quip before he smelt the faint scent of smoke.
"Hey! What's cookin'?"
Bugs dipped back into the earth, tunneling up a mountain until he reached the top for a better vantage point. The toon popped his head out of the rock, this time equipped with binoculars, just to find the forest he was recently in burning in three separate places! Not only that, it was spreading quickly, and given that the mountain he was on was pretty heavily forested...
Bugs looked down to see smoke rising.
"Cripe."
Not wanting to stick around any longer, Bugs reached in his fur and pulled a comedically large rocket. He lit the fuse, and was airborne in three seconds.
Bugs looked behind himself, seeing the wall keeping him in become obscured with smoke. He took another carrot out and munched on it, deep in thought.
"Okay, busting out's a bust. Now what?" he muttered to himself as he casually flew across the map, riding a live explosive.

VADER

Cleanly, the sith lord maneuvered, and in a flash, Cody had been dispatched. The death was confirmed by a thundering sound above, and the sky counter ticking down a number. Darth looked up at it as Dedede flipped out nearby, before the dark lord casually waved his hand, and the severed head flew on by his front, missing him. Now did Vader turn his gaze toward the penguin.

"Do not think I forgot you, avian," Vader informed, walking toward the greedy king, crimson saber humming in the exciting prospect of further bloodshed. "You will share a similar fate."

The Youthful Sage

Eitri glanced to the large counter above, watching as it ticked down a number.
"Hm..." Eitri said, rubbing her chin. The counter, and the strange wall. There was an unusual sound, and Eitri looked up to see a rocket fly by far overhead from the direction of the wall. Likely another competitor.
"It could be a wall. Or it could just be lights. I believe it is more likely to be a wall, but I would still like to get a closer look at it to make sure. I believe that strange counter above us also deserves some further investigation."
The young sage yawned, standing up and stretching. Despite not having walked too far, she felt strangely tired. Belowski had said something unusual earlier...

"Belowski... When you said people 'zonk out' before you finished explaining how you and your monsters are in balance, what did you mean?" Eitri asked, beginning to walk towards the wall.

"Maybe later, I say we could take a quick breather. Slow and steady wins the race n' all that." Belowski yawned.

Seemed as though the feeling was mutual, at least that's what he gathered from her own body language. Keeping up with the somewhat slower pace, the young obelisk blue couldn't help but laugh lightheartedly at her question.

"Oh that's the mok, man!" He grinned. "Peeps get all nice n' cozy 'round me and my mokeys. You don't got to worry though, the Moks all about harmony, man. Sharin' those sweet vibes."

Sonic the Hedgehog
The hedgehog closed his eyes and chuckled lightly with his arms crossed, before giving Sateramon a smirk in response, glancing at him but not turning to face him. “Heh, I ain’t too worried about it.”

After a moment, the kaiju erupted from the ground near the other two that had helped attack Megalon, and Sonic was off in an instant, dashing forward. Once he arrived at the battle, he ran up a tree and leapt off of it. Afterwards, he curled up into a ball mid-air and shot forward, leaving a blue trail. He was aiming to smack directly into Megalon’s face, that way his attack towards Zed would miss!

E-123 Omega
The small cleaning unit had disappeared after Omega fired the laser, although his tracking systems detected that the roomba had fled into the forest. E-123 was ready to give chase, but a loud thunder-like sound suddenly came from the sky and the robot looked up to find that the number had ticked down to 25. People were already pulling ahead of him in terms of kill count.

“Unacceptable.”

This revelation distracted Omega from Dusty, who was now long gone, and he began scanning the area. He detected a large desert area nearby. Wide, open areas were perfect for easy kills. The droid activated his thrusters and glided just above the ground, zooming towards the desert.

Petey Piranha
Petey have an affirmative grunt as Bowser told him to take care of the pharmacist, the corners of his mouth turning up in a joyous smile. As Buzzo threw a bundle of TNT at the large plant, the ruler of the Piranha Plants decided to cut off the flames and let the explosive go directly into his jaws unharmed.

As soon as the tnt entered his mouth, he flew up higher and spit the bomb out and directly towards Buzzo to blow him up instead!

Buzzo
It seems the plant was smarter than it seemed - Instead of keeping its barrage of flames up, it just simply swallowed the TNT and spat it back at him. Unfortunately for the plant.. swallowing a lit object tends to put it out, so Buzzo just quickly moved his helmet in the way as the bundle harmlessly knocked against his head, its fuse having been extinguished by the plant's spit - leaving it open for him to finally gut and cut it up as he wanted to do initially with his machete!

King 'o da Koopas
The boulder practically disintegrated upon contact with the spiked ball of bone. Though it seemed to do something, because a second later the mutant turtle exited the form, and skid in the forest dirt. Not to a halt, before he could stop, Bowser leapt into the air, performing a long jump. The long jump wasn't unlike a technique a certain red-capped plumber used. In fact, though he'd never admit it, this was a page he took directly out of his sworn rival's book.
However, while Mario used the technique to avoid danger, the massive weight of King Koopa gave it a different use: to attempt to smash Nikolai into the dirt!

At another time, Eitri would have been intrigued to discover a creature had the ability to make others at ease. But despite her eagerness to learn more about duel monsters, now was not the time to be relaxed. An annoyed frown spread across her face, and she rubbed her eyes in an attempt to stave off the relaxing aura.
"Well, could you have it stop doing that?" Eitri asked Belowski. "Don't you think it's inappropriate to be put to ease artificially at a time like this? It is likely that someone has just died. This means are others here that would be looking to kill us, or possible traps looking to do the same. And this strange... aura you and your creatures are putting off is making it difficult for me to stay alert, something that may keep us alive."

The terrain began to take a more steeper incline, becoming more rocky as they neared the mountains.

NIKOLAI

Halfway to the ground, the Russian raised a brow as his opponent leaped toward him. Grin widening enough to show his gray teeth, Nikolai raised a hand, motioning Bowser on with a silent "come at me bro". With that, Bowser collided, and the Spirit made to dig his fingers into any part of the koopa he could, ramming his head repeatedly against Bowser's face like some kind of crazed lunatic, grin and all.

LEON

The trio had made their way out of the forest relatively unaffected by the surrounding commotion and growing fires. Great plumes of dark smoke drifted through the sky, a rabbit on a rocket occasionally swooping through some, leaving a carrot-shaped hole in the smoke, which was quickly displaced back into a torrent of unbridled chaos.

The thundering boom that signified a death caught Leon's attention. The number had ticked down by one. Hopefully the worst here would kill each other off, make things easier for people like him. It sat in the back of his mind, and while he didn't feel like addressing it, the D.S.O. Agent was well aware that, if it came down to just the three of them left, they'd probably be forced to kill one another in some way. This arena didn't seem designed for more than one victor.

They'd arrived in the desert portion of this strange place, and the intensity of the sun immediately increased. This place seemed artificial. But who could have created something like this? Leon doubted it was anything like Umbrella or the Los Illuminados. This was bigger than anything he'd faced before. The sound of a roaring screech, like a jet engine, reached his ears. Turning his head, Leon was quick to notice a large robotic being bursting out of the forest and into the desert. "Look sharp," Leon announced to Kirby and Masaru. "Seems like the party's headed our way."

The Youthful Sage

So it was not the monster that was the source of this strange aura, but Belowski himself. That was... not great. Eitri watched as Belowski removed the Mokey Mokey card from his duel disk, and the monster disappeared. So the duel disk did have something to do with it. Or perhaps it was that strange card.

"Perhaps." Eitri said. She once again looked around their surroundings, making sure no other opponents were near as they approached the mountains. "Tell me, Belowski. If someone were to suddenly appear and begin attacking us, blades drawn, arrows firing, blasting with spells, do you believe you would be able to calm them with your aura before they killed you or me?"

"It's all good. One thing I've learned is that you should never underestimate what a chill vibe and some good karma can do. 'Sides, I got a few spells of my own up my sleeves too in a way, ahaha."

He didn't seem remotely worried about his chances of survival. Either through confidence or sheer naïveté. As the barrier came closer and closer along their trek in the mountains, it became clear that there wasn't much on the other side of it. The terrain seemed to drop off on the other side. So even if they were to somehow find a hole to slip through, there wouldn't be anywhere to go.

The Youthful Sage

"I see. I suspected the possibility you were a practitioner of magic." Eitri said. The incline became steeper, and Eitri noticed that there were various small trails that seemed to cut through the area. From this distance, she could see beyond the wall of light. Nothingness awaited on the other side.
"Hm. Most disturbing." Eitri muttered to herself.

The pair finally reached the wall, the sheet of glowing light cutting through a small rocky summit. Eitri reached out to touch the wall, but hesitated before making contact. With a small gesture of her hand, the metal eye of her Grim Brokkr weapon detatched and floated up next to her. It began to scan the wall with a red light, gathering what data it could on the strange phenomenon.
"We can take a break here." Eitri said. The young sage took this time to overlook the battlefield from their elevated position. Behind them, the void stretched as far as the eye could see. The sprawling forest lay in front of them, dark plumes of smoke drifting up. Above the treeline, Eitri could see a massive creature with drill-like arms. It appeared to be fighting, but Eitri was too far away to see what exactly it was up against.

Beyond the forest, Eitri could see a desert, and on the other side of the arena a strange ruined city. But the design of the buildings, the way they were shaped, were familiar to Eitri. But was it even possible?
"The World of Steel..." Eitri said. The youthful sage rubbed her chin, deep in thought.

Zed
Megalon had its sights on him now. The angry yellow beam flew straight at the Adept, and despite his experience against Gunvolt’s own lightning abilities, Zed was not quite prepared for an attack of this magnitude.

He entered a dive, wing vanishing for but a moment as the beam sailed just above him (certainly aided by Sonic’s attack), leaving it to fly off into the distance. His quick descent was slowed by the reappearance of his wing, leaving him to land safely on the ground moments after avoiding the laser.

“I expected nothing less from a beast this size,” Zed remarked, the golden flame in his hand burning brightly. “But the path to our future will not be blocked so easily!”

With that, he swung his arm in an arc in front of him, launching a wave of burning feathers at Megalon’s legs.

Jack
The moment Grief finished speaking, the Ghostrunner darted out of cover, his acceleration module increasing his speed. Jack leapt on top of a tree, using it to boost himself higher into the air and attach his gap jammer to the Kloster’s leg once more - essentially a carbon copy of his first attack, though Jack had a couple tricks up his sleeve, aiming to bait out a reaction by going for a single slash to the Arsenal’s lower body.

Belowski

"Huh, so we reached the wall. That's...all cool and all but..." he yawned loudly. "I'm beat, later."

Abruptly, Belowski collapsed right then and there, unconscious. He was asleep just like that. That was sudden. Looks like he wouldn't be giving much input on the barrier situation.

It didn't take long to see what the barrier was about though. A bee flew up towards the barrier, past Eitri's weapons before-

BZZZT!

A ripple of orange energy effected the bee, the insect vaporizing instantly. The steam where the bee once was floated up slowly, smelling like burnt rubber. Looks the the barrier wasn't simply a friendly way of making a boundary.

The Youthful Sage

Eitri looked at the part of the wall where the bee had struck. It appeared her instinct not to touch the wall was a good one. The floating eye completed its scan of the wall, floating back to Eitri and re-attaching itself to Grim Brokkr. Not much could be determined, even from the scanning. Pushing back her hat, Eitri looked up to follow where the wall went. It curved inward, forming a dome above the arena. Flying out was not an option.

Her investigation of the wall satisfied for the moment, Eitri turned her attention back to Belowski. He appeared to still be alive, merely asleep. How he was able to fall asleep at a time and place like this, Eitri had no idea. The sage sat down next to the Duel Academy student, taking the time he was unconscious to take a closer look at the duel disk on his arm. She attempted to pull the device off of Belowski's arm as the boy slept.

The Dazed Duelist

Zzzzzz... Zzzzzz...

Belowski was out cold. So Eitri took the opportunity to take the duel disk of his into her grasp, slowly pulling it off his rather pale arm. After it was taken off, the red center light turned off, the extended panel on the side folding into the machine. Seemed as though his deck was still attached to the thing, including where Mokey Mokey had emerged from originally.

The Youthful Sage

The device reacted as it was removed from Belowski, retracting to a smaller, more compact form. While Eitri was tempted to try putting it on herself, she pushed the thought away and placed the duel disk on the ground. Once again, she directed the metal eye of Grim Brokkr to detach from the weapon and scan the duel disk. Unlike the wall, this scan was much quicker. At Eitri's direction, a hologram of the duel disk was projected from the eye. Eitri began to dissect the hologram of the duel disk, taking it apart piece by piece to see its inner workings.

Today's events continued to surprise Eitri. This duel disk device was like nothing she had ever seen before. Belowski had said that the device was powered by electricity, but she hadn't expected there to be no sign of magic whatsoever. Some parts of it were similar to the seiðjárn, and it was only because of that she was able to understand the mechanisms of this machine. No magical battery, but a battery that stored electricity. Eitri had never even considered using electricty as an alternate power source for the seiðjárn, but this device used it flawlessly. "Incredible." Eitri said. "Whoever made this device was a genius..."

The pathways of energy in the device were small, and extremely complicated. While Eitri could not fully understand every aspect of the device, she could see enough to get a basic understanding.
"These energy pathways are extremely effiecient... Perhaps if I were to apply them to the Gullinbursti... But if I were to implement that design into Briedablik... Or perhaps an upgrade for Grim Brokkr..." Eitri muttered to herself, her mind awhirl with new inspiration.

The duel disk truly did not appear to have the ability to summon creatures, only project very detailed and convincing illusions. But there was another aspect of the device that Eitri did not fully understand. The card she had seen Belowski use, there were others. An entire deck. Eitri dismissed the hologram of the duel disk, looking to the real one on the ground in front of her. Carefully, she removed the deck of cards. They had an unusual brown design on the backs. Eitri turned the deck over to look at the fronts. Strange cards showing monsters, spells, and traps. Even a few of those Mokey Mokeys. Were these what Belowski was referring to when he mentioned he had a few spells up his sleeve? The scan revealed nothing inherently magical about the cards, and even showing a bit of technology imbedded inside of the cards.

Bowser
Not only did his foe not attempt to dodge; he challenged the might of King Bowser Koopa. He sure got it, but the man seemed to tank the thorough crushing he got. What's more, he was quick to counterattack, headbutting Bowser in the face with a crazed ferocity that the testundine monster was not prepared for. After a couple hits to the schnoz, Koopa retracted his limbs and spun in his shell to fling off his attacker, moving backwards a little bit. He exited again, his angry gaze following Nikolai. Using the dorsom of his hand, he rubbed away the blood leaking from his nostrils.

"GRAAAAAH!"

Rearing back, his maw began to leak flames that quickly turned a magenta pink in color. When he whipped forward, he spat a large fireball, with the same magenta color, towards Nikolai! As the projectile soared closer, the target would be able to hear it humming with power.

Megalon
The Assassin-Laser didn't hit its mark, knocked off course by a pesky blue speedster. Even more unfortunate was that the target unleashed even more golden fire upon Megalon's legs!

"GRAHHH-EEEP! GRAAHH-EEEP!"

The kaiju bounded skywards, his wings unfolding once again to bring him above the treetops, where he began to circle around and spit Volcanic Napalm Bombs down towards his grounded foes!

Sateramon

The hedgehog was true to his word. In kind, so should he.

"Icarus flew too close to the sun...and so the wax in his wings melted off, Nai nda na~!"

PANG!

Sateramon fired off both of his weapons at once, the two beams zig zagging in sharp angles until they shot directly at Megalon's wings, hoping to clip both sides in one move, and send the target plummeting down a death fall!

Astra & Mediamon

Landing back on the ground after his previous holographic attack, Mediamon wiped a brow as his hologram broke apart. The Kaiju was becoming an awfully rowdy customer, especially as it took flight again. Their body curbed with magma, ready to spew it out once again, coming in for a pass.

"Mediamon! Quick! In here!!"

Mediamon looked around before spotting Astra, spelunking down the hole that Megalon previously dug out of. It was pretty spacious, considering a giant monster dug it. Perfect from hiding from the fiery attack! Mediamon grinned, nodding his head before diving into the dugout hole. The Napalm passed them by, drenching the opening of the hole, but allowing them to be safely away from the attack, but as well as out of line of sight for any sort of attack of their own.

Robopal 8819 - Log

Dusty was panicked as he kept moving. That robot was not something he could take in a direct fight, and now he knew for sure...Just how outmatched was he here? Normally, stealth was an option, not the requirement! Even still, he now knew he had to prepare, after all he didn't have all the time. Maybe Omega had left him alone, but that wouldn't dissuade others... So, he began darting underneath uprooted tree roots, awkward rock shapes, and all else as they began to think, though the dashing was not the quietest...

The Professor

"Oh?" Grief seemed amused by Jack's attack - perhaps he knew it was a bait, but nonetheless he chose to strike out; The leg that Jack had attached his jammer to suddenly lifted, and then the other rose. His intention was clear as day as he used the non-jammed leg to attempt to kick down on Jack.

The Strongest

A bead of sweat dripped down the forehead of Takahara, as the number ticked down one. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had missed out on a chance to learn from another fighter, but...

Well, he didn't have time to focus on that. Another boom was heard, as though the sound barrier shattered in his ear, and he saw a large...metal thing burst out of the forest. Right into the desert. "Woah...I mean, uh oh." He muffled his intrigue as he take a basic fighting stance, not wanting to reveal too much of his prowess immeadiantly.

The Duck(auto perms granted by Gaming)
Since we last saw our favorite reoccuring Pokémon, he'd been floating downstream, occasionally popping his head from the water to search for easy targets to take out. He made it all the way to the desert area, and although he didn't see an easy takedown, he saw a worthwhile target emerge from the treeline. Two humans, one of them being a jerk that he'd beat up like an hour ago, and following behind them was a familiar friendly face! Kirby!
Psyduck slunk through the limited cover, his color providing a slight camouflage, to get to a big rock just about his size. The trio neared... but stopped short. A peek told the bird why: a big steel-type was zooming across the arid landscape! This made things more urgent, but it also provided a distraction for The Duck to sneak up and grab his pink, pillowy pal.
Psyduck raised Kirby over his head, and used Surf to ride a wave into the forest!

"Psyduuuuuck!"

The rescue went off without a hitch, and after a moment the Pokémon dove into a bush and set his companion down. He waved at Kirby.

"Psyduck!"

Forcibly Saved
Kirby skipped along the sand, showing little attention to the glaring sun. He was find in the vacuum of space, so this was hardly any worse. What did catch his attention, however, was the mechanical behemoth that burst through the forest they had just left. Both Leon and Takahara tensed but Kirby, seeing the chance for a new friend, raised an nub in greeting.
"Ha-" was all he was able to get out before he was suddenly kidnapped and brought back into the forest. His captor placed him down, a wise decision, and was revealed to be a familiar face.
"Hai!" Kirby greeted his friend back, briefly distracted from his previous situation. He quickly got on track, looking past Psyduck to see how his other friends were doing through the trees, entirely unaware that he was being "saved".

Royally Eff'd
King Dedede looked at the apparently very serious and very deadly man, and glanced around at the burning arena he had made for them. Crap, running may be hard. Then again, would running be the kingly thing to do?
"Uh...Uh...I ain't afraid of you!" The King barked, holding his hammer defensively. "If you're so good, how 'bout you do something, instead of spouting out empty threats?"
Dedede ignored the memory of Cody's decapitation.

Zed
Megalon took to the skies and out of the way of Zed's flames, circling around the area, casting a massive shadow on the group as the beast dropped a series of Napalm Bombs, one of them headed directly for the Adept!

The prince was well aware of this, glancing over at Astra, who had called out for his partner to jump into the hole Megalon had dug out of earlier. Figuring it would be a safe spot, Zed snapped his fingers, a single golden feather shooting out from his hand like a bullet, flying into the dugout hole, landing next to the two. Using it as an anchor point, the young man teleported over to it in an instant, leaving a rainbow trail behind him as the Napalm Bomb struck the ground he'd been standing on moments earlier, releasing a powerful burst of flames.

"Glad to see you two are doing well," Zed commented, calm as ever. Just like Astra and Mediamon, he wouldn't be able to strike back from their current position, but the safety was worth it.

Jack
Grief indeed lashed out, flinging Jack upwards and in position for the professor's follow-up, but it was here that the Ghostrunner revealed his plan---Jack swung his blade as the leg came in, weapon glowing brightly as it unleashed a slash of energy towards his opponent, the sword beam powerful enough to cut into tougher foes. He wasn't sure how his Surge technique would fare against the Arsenal, but he wouldn't know if he didn't try.

Astra & Mediamon

"Yeah, no thanks to you- agh!" Astra grimaced, a glob of napalm sliding down the cave wall next to him. "Didn't think fighting this big thing was such a good idea. Now we are hiding from his molten snot! This is sooo not going on my playlist!"

"Yo, this guy's a tough customer. You think we can do something that cracks that armor of his?" Mediamon interjected. "That tank looked like it just pissed 'em off, maybe those two up there got some trick up there sleeves."

NIKOLAI

With a hearty laugh that didn't befit the situation he was in, the Russian was flung away from the Koopa. Slamming against the earth along his back, Nikolai slammed his elbows into the ground, a cracked crater forming beneath him as his hit launched him upward into a backflip, squinting with a grin as he dropped back down, digging his heels into the earth to a complete stop, adrenaline rushing through his veins. This battle was going well, nobody had interrupted, and he was having an absolute blast.

The next obstacle became a pink-colored ball of flames. Intriguing, Nikolai hadn't exactly been expecting pink to be the color. Didn't really match the beasts stature or theme. Themes aside, Nikolai raised a leg high, before slamming his foot into the ground, a boom sounding as another crater was formed. Using the front of his boot, Nikolai raised his leg---pulling out a giant chunk of earth with it, flinging it a few feet up into the air before twisting, performing a spin kick, resulting in the chunk of rock and dirt to collide at the halfway mark with the pink fireball, bursting in a brilliant, dazzling explosion, yet as its spectacle faded, it was revealed that Nikolai wasn't quite finished. Slamming his fists against the ground, now softened, this hit was again thunderous, and made several more large chunks of earth leap up into the air, though smaller and more condensed than the previous one, each of which the Russian proceeded to rapidly kick or punch at Bowser, imitating bullets in speed, and cannons in force, at least a baker's dozen sailing toward Bowser.

VADER

"As you wish," led the dark lord, flicking his hand. Cody's headless body flung like a ragdoll at Dedede. Immediately after, another twitch of the hand sent a burning tree rapidly falling toward the avian from behind, before Vader rushed forward with speed his stiff movements made him seem incapable of, swinging with a horizontal slash before quickly bringing it up for a vertical cut downward, turning his body with the movement to face away from the king, slashing backward before facing forward once more, jabbing the blade forward with the intent of plunging it into his opponent.
