Hearing an affirmative on supporting each other, Reggie nodded happily, fist pumping in the air as he let out a hissing "yesssssss". He then joyfully
skipped out of the Pokemon Center to meet this individual. This guy wore sandals, cargo shorts, and a blue and white Alolan polo shirt. Reggie's demeanor upon skipping out of the Pokemon Center had the man regarding him with a raised eyebrow.
"Uhhh... You okay?"
"Me? I'm more than fine! You ready for a fight?" Reggie beamed up at the guy, who shook his head as he wiped his sunglasses with his shirt before putting them on his head.
"Sure thing. Name's Chance." The man nodded at him, holding one of his PokeBalls.
"Nice to meet ya, Chance. Name's Reggie. How many ya got?" He nodded back to him, Chance smirking.
"Only three."
"I'll match ya then. Ya WCSin'?"
"Yup." Both trainers showed their rankings on their phones. Reggie's rank: 70,231. Chance's rank: 69,989.
"Daaaaaang, I gotta be careful with ya then, top shot." Reggie grinned and complimented, Chance laughing.
"Oh, I'm thinking you got somethin' up your sleeves, pal. I won't be going easy on ya."
"I would hope not." Reggie laughed. "Lower numbers go first~." He teased, Chance chuckling and shaking his head.
A Rotom was pinged and flew down from the heavens, marking the start of a WCS battle as it scanned the contestants.
"Here we come!" Chance threw out the PokeBall, a brown reindeer with a big snout and branching horns landed, a necklace of something light green and looking like clay around its neck.
"
Hmm, a Stantler..." Reggie commented. He didn't think Stantler had any moves that could target Shedinja, at least not at the top of his head. He rubbed the little spot on Shedinja's head, the shell leaving his pocket and entering the field, moving stiffly.
"Oh, you bitch!" Chance said playfully with an exasperated chuckle, obviously knowing his Stantler was practically useless against the Shedinja. "Oh well, Confuse Ray."
"Bob, Dig!" The shell spun and hit the ground, dodging the glowing lights that emanated from the Stantler's horns, then faded into nothingness.
"Light Screen." The Stantler's horns glowed blue, and a screen made of light showered over his side of the field. Bob unearthed and slammed his head into the gut of the Stantler, but the Normal-Type was rather bulky and he took it well.
"Hmm, what are its weaknesses again... Do I even have anything that could target it...?" Reggie thought aloud to himself. That's when he snapped his fingers. It must be a Psychic-Type! "Shadow Claw!"
Bob's body glowed with ghostly energy, a shadowy echo of itself reaching out with a quick swipe of his sharp, shadowy foreleg, only for the energy to pass right through. Both Chance and his Stantler gave a very deadpanned look.
Reggie had to pause for a moment, and he stared dumbfoundedly before he groaned and grabbed his hair, head lolling back. "Damn it, I forgot!"
Chance laughed, shaking his head. "Hypnosis!"
As the Stantler's horns and eyes pulsated blue, Bob turned around to show the hole on his back. Stantler's move faltered, failing. Not that the hole had any special properties, but it spooked the Stantler from his concentration.
Growling and gritting his teeth, Reggie recalled Bob to his PokeBall. "You did what you could." He then patted Munna above him, the Psychic-Type gracefully floating into the battlefield. "Hypnosis."
"Megahorn."
Munna's eyes widened. She had to hit with Hypnosis, or else this will hurt! The deer pawed the ground with his hoof, lime green energy coating his horns before charging. Elvira's eyes pulsated blue and the spot on her forehead sent a cone of lulling energy at the opponent. The Stantler continued to charge...
Only for his forelegs to give out to the sleep, and he fell, just short of hitting Elvira. Sighing, Elvira bounced away and curled up, her body shining once with a bright yellow energy. Then again.
Chance was starting to sweat. "Stantler, wake up!" The Normal-Type stirred, but was having difficulty in staying awake. Elvira shifted from a curled up form, having already done three Defense Curls and she was now doing a Calm Mind, her body shining with blue and green energies.
"Stantler, wake up and use Wild Charge!" Finally, the Normal-Type shifted, weakly standing on all legs, the eyes trying to snap open. His body sparked with electricity, the lightning waking him up completely. He then charged the Munna, who had already completed her second Calm Mind.
"Stored Power." Munna braved the electrical attack, getting hit as her body shone with a bright pink energy. Psychic energy that poured out after she got hit, little dots of pink and blue and yellow flying out with a wave of psychic energy. Upon hitting the Stantler, it sparked into fireworks, the Stantler, being blasted back with the converted force of seven changes.
Thankfully, due to the Light Screen and Stantler's Light Clay it had around its neck, he was able to stand back up, albeit shakily. "Megahorn!"
"Moonlight!" As Elvira prepped to take energy from the cosmos above, the Stantler charged with antlers pointing towards Elvira. He finally hit her, sending her screeching as she fell to the side, her body skidding on the ground. She tried floating back up, but she was having a hard time just standing. She focused on the move Moonlight, feeling a bit better as her body sparkled with latent healing energy.
Then, another Megahorn, the Stantler charging once again. Panicked, Munna sent out a beam of pink psychic energy, the Psybeam hitting the Stantler, but he lunged and smashed his horns into Munna.
The two Pokemon collapsed on the ground. Neither were able to battle.
Returning Munna, Reggie sent out his Shedinja again. Only for Chance to send out his Leafeon. Now, Reggie knew it must have Aerial Ace. Almost every trainer worth their salt would pack a Leafeon with Aerial Ace. The Light Screen from the area vanished, but in came Chance's orders. "Sunny Day." With a happy trill, the Leafeon's body glowed, the clouds parting and the sun's rays hitting the area harsher. The sunlight was causing Leafeon's body to glow.
"
So... Possibly Chlorophyll..." Reggie spoke to himself, thinking. "Shedinja, Confuse Ray."
"Swords Dance!" The Leafeon danced about hypnotically, the leaves on her body glowing a fiery red. A physical set. Obviously. Shedinja's confusing lights shot towards the Leafeon, who stumbled a bit on her feet. "Now!"
Much to Reggie's surprise, the Leafeon twirled as she jumped towards the shell, her leaf blade shining a sky blue. "X-Scissor!" Lime green energy cloaked the shell, and his forelegs shot out as an energy form, blocking the Aerial Ace hit with one, then coming around to her side with the other. The Leafeon was hit, and she fell to the side, but she rolled onto her feet, albeit unsteadily, then charged with a messy somersaulting swipe of her tail.
If this Pokemon was this coordinated in a fight while confused, then he'd hate to see what it was like when not confused. "Metal Claw, catch it!" Bob's lime green aura became steely, and the sharp forelegs snatched her tail, but her momentum carried her towards the head of the shell, her head leaf shining. "Follow!" Bob followed her momentum, letting her flip right over him as he let her go. She hit the ground, which aided in getting back some of her bearings. Shaking her head, she got up and growled irritatingly at the shell. Forepaws glowing beige, she began to dig quickly through the ground.
Knowing there were other uses for Dig, Reggie pointed to the middle of the field. "Ready to play reverse whack-a-Leafeon, Bob?" There was a resounding echoing click from within the shell, the Shedinja floating to the middle of the battlefield.
They just had to wait for the Leafeon to resurface, which she did, making other holes around the field before finally popping out of one. "You done?" Reggie asked, smirking. "X-Scissor!" With aggressive clicking, the Shedinja floated towards the Leafeon, then disappeared into one of the holes, coasting through the tunnels. The Leafeon's tail and head leaf shined before she hopped in.
Now, it was a waiting game. Who was going to find who first, and who was going to get the first hit?
Nakano Saito
Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 16
Location: Eterna City Bar, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous
Interactions: Ron Towers and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro)
Naka shook her head at Ron when he asked about Bob being a real name. "You don't look like a Bob." When he said his actual name, her eyes widened. Then giggled when he gave her a salute. "Nice to finally get your name, Ron." Now she didn't have to feel weird knowing about it beforehand.
When he said something about country singing though, she snorted. "What? No way..." She scrutinized him as he continued with this tall tale, making her laugh even more. "Uh-huh, riiiiight- H... Horny Taur- Okay, you have to be messing with me." As they finally made it to the bar, Naka looked back to see Flareon obediently walking beside Luz, making sure she could feel where he was at all times.
"Hmm, we should probably take care here." Her voice stopped being so jovial. Already, she didn't like the potential for a larger crowd. Her instincts were trying to ruin her fun, to which she had tried to find anything that wasn't going to spur on her anxiety. Cool posters. Oh, look a drumming set. Oh hey, a Ron looking at the drumming set. Oh, what longing he has in those eyes. She chuckled, then sat down next to Ron, Fluffy pushing a stool closer to Luz's stool and then hopping up to sit next to her to make sure she was okay, his tail resting against her side.
"Sometimes the heavy stuff. I got a damn good liver. Vodka, rum, mead, ale... Hah, mimosas are my favorite. Oooh, now I want one." She chuckled, kicking her legs around the stool as she leaned against the counter. Man, when was the last time she felt
this giddy to hang out with someone? "What do you drink, not-a-country-drummer? I know you do alt rock stuff. You practically exude it, also because I hope you do alt rock. That shit's my favorite genre next to metal." Her Flareon let out a sharp chirp, which had Naka deadpanning at him. "Noooooo, I'm not trying it." Her Flareon chirped more insistently.
Naka's cheeks flushed pink. "I ain't singin' nor screamin' anything. Not until I down a mimosa. There better not be karaoke tonight." There was a scoff-chuckle from her Flareon, who then refocused his attention on Luz to make sure she wasn't going anywhere.
