Ogi City – Beach, Whirl Archipelago
Johto Region
Team On-hand: Pyrrha (Jangmo-o), Pariparisithea (Munna), Halay-Alae (Houndour), L’ Basseau (Surskit), La Bamba (Shellos) In Esther’s care: Feebas

“Plan?” Esther picked up the call with marked incredulity. “My plan is no plan. I thought you had a plan?”

The Oblivian was quick to return Feebas to its pokéball and then steer her flotilla away from the Blastoise. The mega turtle didn’t seem too bothered by the mosquito-bite attacks coming from its much smaller foes—mud bomb, electro web, water gun—attacks so small the Blastoise hardly even noticed them. It seemed clear to Esther they'd need to launch stronger and more powerful attacks if they wanted to see any progress.

Esther didn’t see herself as being capable of launching anything that damaging. Maybe some sort of combination attack? They really did need to come up with something...but for now.

“I’ll give you guys some back up but, uhhhhhhOOOOOHHH NOOOoo—!”

The sound of Esther’s voice was rapidly swallowed by the deafening flush of water. The supersonic from much earlier in the fight had just worn off and Blastoise had kicked into a «Rapid Spin», one empowered by the repeated swaggers it had just been hit with. Since it had already been confused when Swagger had landed, they did little more than drastically raise its attack. Now the Blastoise’s quick spin had whipped over a vortex of water that towered into the sky, a waterspout of cataclysmic proportions that would surely cause horrendous damage to anyone trapped within.

The Blastoise’s aim was, first and foremost, to get rid of those pesky bugs buzzing around its head, and so the waterspout lurched into motion moving to devour anyone it could catch.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 1st)

If the fact that Reggie had been a character was something that was somehow not confirmed beforehand, it seemed to really shine here without a shadow of doubt. Reggie seemed to decide to present some curious quirks about his Pokemon, explaining little fun facts about each of them while he almost seemed to engage in a bit of performance with each of them.

If helped her to get a bit of a vibe from the personalities of each of them: Missy seemed to be the shy type which Aqua could relate to, perhaps they'd be friends so long as the Azurill had gotten more used to them. That shiny Haunter seemed to be a gift of sorts as Emeric also seemed to be the prankster type as he always had that expressive face of sorts and then without warning seemed to take a bite and actually eat Reggie's face!

"AZU!"

Aqua of course was terrified of this display and immediately cuddled by Adrianne's leg who offered support. Ace in turn had a few "spears" escape its lip though the bird had been more laughing at Aqua's reaction to this than anything. Which earned the Flying Type a good smack to the head and a glare from Adrianne.

"It's okay, just a little game. See Reggie is fine." Adrianne said as she pointed to Reggie and sure enough the Haunter had not actually eaten his head though she still had remained close to Adrianne just to be safe.

The Shedninja itself seemed to be curious, at first glance it seemed almost lifeless and indeed as Ace tried to gaze into the darkness within it almost seemed hollow, but it had the quite quirks such as a love of pockets and those subtle ticks that confirmed it was alive. Before long Reggie returned all his Pokemona and then asked what Adrianne thought, and as she returned her own party she had a smile on her face as she seemed to phrase it all rather simply.

"Think this is gonna be the best adventure ever~"

Montagne Khastil
July 1 - Santalune City, Kalos

Monty gave Esther a sly smile and mimed zipping his lips and throwing away the key. The fiery-haired girl did put on half a show trying to catch her Surskit, but he wasn't the see-and-tell type. "You have my word, madamoiselle."

They split up and Monty stomped to his room, and his soreness from the eventful day hit him like a truck as he unlocked the door. Tired wasn't enough, exhausted was the best word to describe it. He was physically and mentally drained, and it was made even worse by feeling of his own stomach digesting itself. Fuck was he hungry!

A loud grumbling erupted from his midsection as if to punctuate his predicament, and he muttered under his breath as he kicked off his boots, slipped off his backpack, and flopped down onto one of the beds. "Where's Nico when you need him?"

Wait. Where was Nico? He was with them at the top of the cliff...and he was with them at the bottom of the forest side...but the last Monty caught site of the foreigner he had disappeared into the brush while Esther tore off in the direction her freaky pink blob telepathically pointed her. Eh, he'd probably be alright with Pepper beside him.

But damn did Nico pick the wrong time to run off! Who was supposed to cook his dinner now? He usually had Jacques or Robert whip him something up at the bar, but they were all the way in Lumiose. He could order out...but from where?

Monty reached for his smartphone, and his hand brushed against the flip-phone he kept in the same jacket pocket. His better judgement won out and he checked the flip phone first, but he cursed his own reasoning.

{Dad - 1 Missed Call}
{Messages - 1 - Dad: Call me.}

Shit. He must've missed it in the chaos of Esther's Surskit capture. Monty pressed the {Call} button with bated breath.

Ring-ring...ring-ring...ring— "Montagne! Ducking my calls?"

Surprisingly, the boss didn't sound pissed. "No sir, just got a little distracted."

"Distracted! It's your victory night, you've earned a little distraction."

Weird. Monty expected a chewing out. "Uh, yeah I guess so. You got the picture I sent, then?"

"Got it? Montagne, seeing that picture was like seeing the sun rise. Ever since we took you in, I knew you had potential—and my vision is finally coming together."

What the hell was he rambling on about? "Well, uh, merci."

"Tomorrow morning you're back on the job, of course."

And there it was. Back to business as usual. "Right, sir. I found a partner for the tournament already. Strong girl, stronger pokémon."

"Strong girl, eh?" Monty could practically see the boss' eyes narrow. "Don't get too distracted, then. If missing my call is any indication—" Audible venom dripped through the phone speaker. "—you'd better keep your wits and your eyes where they belong: on the prize."

Was Monty that easy to read? "And the prize is what exactly, sir?"

"Ah, juste..." There was a shuffling of papers before the voice returned. "...it's a painting called 'las Grande Croissance'. A Tangrowth, if you've heard of them, with a forest background. One of the myriad paintings seized from the Tyrant Queen's castle during the revolution, last known holder is the Shabboneau estate. That's your prize."

Some painting? "Why do we need that?"

"That's for me to worry about and you not to." There was a dismissive finality in the boss' tone, and Monty seethed when he heard it. "Enjoy your night, Montagne. From now on I expect you to answer the first time."

Beep-beep-beep.

The call was ended, and it took every scrap of reason in Monty's body not to smash the phone against the wall. Cormier treated him like a fucking mushroom; fed shit and kept in the dark. After everything he did for the Old Guard, every job he finished, every expectation fulfilled, and the asshole couldn't give him an exra fucking sentence of explanation.

No, he wasn't good enough for that. Just a kid taken in like a stray puppy and worked like a dog.

Shit, speaking of dogs...

Monty drew Oracle's Luxury Ball from his pocket. The glossy black-and-orange surface shined in the evening twilight filtering through the blinds, and he spoke to his partner within.

"Still sulking?"

Silence.

"You've gotta be hungry in there. I'll feed you before the other two."

Silence.

What a brat. "Listen, all I said was you couldn't stay out while we were rock climbing! You don't have to hide and pout!"

That got her attention. The ball CLICKED! open and Oracle materialized in a white flash. Her claws sunk into the bedcover, and she glared daggers into her trainer. What a grand, intoxicating ignorance useless Monty must gorge himself on. Her, of all beings, upset over rock climbing?! She wasn't some peon who leapt at the chance to sully themselves with a cascade of dirt and debris as the ascended a cliff like skittering bugs. She was livid because he hadn't requested her presence when he got down into the forest!

She poured her Pressure onto useless Monty to hammer home her indignation, and to her annoyance he simply rolled his eyes and reclined onto the bed. "You can have the other bed."

Oracle cut off her Pressure. A fine trade it was, her giving a postponing of justice and him giving a proper place to sleep for once. The Absol jumped to the other bed and set to ridding herself of the grime collected during the earlier battle against the red-and-yellow rodent, and Monty committed to finding them something to eat.

Reginald Valerias

Date: June 1
Location: Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago
Pokemon Team: Emeric the Shiny Haunter, Elvira the Munna, Bob the Shedinja, Large Marge the Drifloon, Missy the Misdreavus
WCS Rank: 70,231

Interactions: Adrianne Silvers (Godjacob)

The fear from Aqua had Reggie almost feeling bad, but hey! It was a cool party trick! He wasn't about to slap a lite version on it since it was already pretty lite compared to what he could make it seem like. Of course, Spearow's reaction to Aqua's fear had Reggie confused that Ace was laughing at his and Emeric's joke, which made him feel immensely proud that he got such a stoic, mean-faced Pokemon to laugh.

With the only viewable Pokemon being Shedinja within in his vest pocket and his Munna (who floated just above his head to stay close but not wanting to get spun around and dizzy in his wild, theatrical, and erratic movements), Reggie got ready for travel. The only thing keeping him from going anywhere was Adrianne's answer.

"Think this is gonna be the best adventure ever~"

"R... Really?" There were practically sparkles in his eyes, his hands clasped together as he regarded her with utmost excitement and even awe. A man, probably better at fighting with stronger Pokemon, a higher rank, and having more experience, regarding a fresh-faced someone who just started on her journey with awe the likes of which Adrianne had given Reggie earlier was probably a bit weird. But, she had said something that really made his entire body feel the nice, warm fuzzies of acceptance.

"You're the best person ever, haha!" He clapped ecstatically, then twirled towards her side where he then stopped himself by wrapping an arm around her neck and pointing towards the inner portions of the island's city. "Now, we shall continue our bestest adventure! By uh..." His excitement trickled down to something a bit more manageable as he chuckled. "Haha, going to the Pokemon Center. Come on, let's not dally." He unhooked his arm from her neck and started walking rather... boisterously. Each step was carried far higher than what's socially normal. In fact, he looked like a comical cartoon character, who was pumped and ready to get somewhere evidenced by such a funny-looking march and swinging arms.

As they made their way to the Pokemon Center, he leaned back and craned his neck towards Adrianne to see her. "So, what got you to doing this whole Orange League? The want for stardom? Hm, nah, doesn't really suit you..." He tapped his chin. Then straightened his body up as he slammed his fist into his hand. "Oh, maybe just to get stronger and take up some important stuff, like me- Ohhhh..." He then twirled around on his feet until he was walking backwards, seemingly not having any care to what was behind him. "Orrr... Is it more personal-like?" His sapphires for eyes were sparkling with curiosity, shining even brighter due to the evening light.

Being lost in the woods were not fun. Nico knew that, and he probably shouldn't have ran off. What about the others? They probably haven't even eaten yet. Nico didn't think of that. His friends haven't eaten, and be didn't know how to get back at this moment. It'd be fine, he'd been lost in Lush Jungle before, right? Even if he was lost here, he wouldn't let himself starve. Although his friends were going to starve instead if he didn't make it out.

No time to think negatively. Must find way out of Santalune Forest. Problem is, Nico was getting hungry. Not good. He could cook something, just for a minute. Like, a sandwich or something. Anything that could fill his empty stomach. It was getting dark too, which was.. less than wanted. He grabbed a red and white checkered mat, then took out some tupperware and breadsticks he bought from Santalune City earlier. He put together a sandwich, made with vegetables such as cabbages and tomatoes, with a bit of ketchup and mayonnaise for the sauce inside.
He quickly ate up the sandwich, and as the night soon hit it's peak, Nico had fallen asleep for the next day. He'd just look for Esther and Monty tomorrow, and plus, they were probably much older than him, so they should be alright.

In Esther’s care: Houndour

The rising sun caught Esther at a small table, hardly larger than a school desk, but better than nothing. Surskit’s capture had brought her up to seven Pokémon on hand and seven hungry mouths to feed at least until she made her way to route 10. Esther put pencil to paper as she sketched up a loose budget and got to planning. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner would run her.... seven pokémon plus herself... times seven and a week’s worth of living would cost her... HOW many hundreds!?

The payout from winning at the gym had been good but.... it wasn’t going to last her nearly as long as she’d thought. Maybe it was high time she spends more time camping? Inns were nice, but the cost of a night’s sleep in a bed was easily several meals. Not to mention this Inn didn’t even let her pokémon stay out! Something about an incident with a Golem? Esther sighed.

Breakfast would be ready soon and they needed to check out before the Inn charged them.

An hour later, a freshly bathed Esther sat down to eat at the Inn’s large dining room. She had filled her tray with plenty of—what the staff had assured her were—traditional Kalosian treats: a flakey crescent-shaped bun, “Croissants”; cute mini-pot filled with soft-boiled eggs and topped with herbs and a bit of bacon, “Oeufs cocotte”; and, a crispy sweet-bread sprinkled with sugar and sliced strawberries, “Pain Perdu”. A few pokéballs at Esther’s waist shook and she lowered her head to both take in the smell and whisper to her pokémon.

“Don’t worry, I’ll swipe a few for you guys too.”

Azumi Towers, July 2nd, Santalune, Kalos.

A good night's sleep, a good bath and a good pep talk with her sister later, Azumi was set and ready to go. She usually was in a happier mood, getting ready for graduation while exploring the vast region of Kalos was the ideal goal, specially since she had planned it to go that way. Unfortunately, she was stuck in a future job she was not looking forward to. Backing out would stain her flawless background, so until she found a better solution, she had to wrap her mind around the idea of working there.

At that moment, Azumi found herself walking through the Inn's diner, looking through the different selection of fruits available for those who had stayed the night. Even in her Pokeball, she could feel Nana's mind trying to convince her to grab some of the sweeter ones. "Not now...my turn to choose." Azumi whispered as she placed a fruit salad of strawberries and bananas into a bowl with oatmeal and yogurt. Satisfied with her selection, she turned to search for a place to sit and enjoy her meal, when her blue eyes caught sight of the girl she had met the day before.

"Bonjour!" Azumi called out as she approached Esther, a smile on her face while she held her bowl and stood next to an empty chair. "Glad to see you again Miss Esther, would you mind if I joined you? I would like to hear about your thoughts regarding the city and its activities." She took a sit herself, "If you prefer to be alone though please feel free to refuse my proposal, I've read that it's better to be alone than to have bad company."

Montange Khastil
July 2 - Santalune City, Kalos

Shadows danced on the warehouse walls as he reclined against a stack of crates, and the rhythmic lapping of Azure Bay's waves was unusually loud but melodic all the same. Waiting for one of Wabash's shipments was always a boring job, but usually he had another beaux voyou to share in the utter lack of entertainment.

He was entirely alone tonight, though, his only company the shadows cast by the dim overhead lightbulb. How long had he been waiting? He was getting a little tired. The sound of the waves was relaxing beyond measure, and the crates he sat on were never more comfortable. Surely no one would notice if he caught a little shut eye...

His eyes closed before the unmistakable feel of being watched washed over him. His eyes snapped open, and his gaze was met with a writhing mass of gargling shadows on the far wall.

He had to get out, he had to get out
.

STOMP-STOMP-CLANG-CLANG!

Fear and adrenaline surged through him as he bolted up and burst through the warehouse door, only for his frantic footsteps to go from thuds on concrete to clangs on metal. These weren't the Courmarine docks.

Pale moonlight flooded into the space through the large windshielding windows, underwhich sat a large control panel and a steering wheel. This was Wabash's ship, and the captain was hunched over at a swivel seat in front of the controls.

The beaux voyou crossed the room to the old sailor. "Wabash?"

No response. He grabbed the codger by the shoulders and pulled him up, but his heart dropped when he saw his weathered face. Tears streamed from his shut eyes.

"What did you do?!" The sailor didn't respond.

"Wabash, WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

The sailor stayed silent, but he didn't need to hear his response. His heart dropped. He already knew.

He had to get out of there. He had to run. He couldn't be caught. He wouldn't
be caught. He—

BOOM!

He whirled around. His setting shifted again. The steel walls of Wabash's bridge were replaced with those of the Old Guard's Hibernal Avenue warehouse. The door was blown off by a blast of electricity, and he didn't even have the time to look over at the other beaux voyou stationed there that night.

His heart threatened to beat out of his chest.

THUMP-THUMP-THUMP!

A large yellow-and-black canine pokémon shot into view before the door hit the ground. A yellow safety vest was fit tight against its torso, and a single word was printed on it; 'POLICE'.

THUMP-THUMP-THUMP!

It was over. Nowhere to run.

The canine rushed into the warehouse and discharged a wave of thunder, flooding the space with electricity that arced into him with a sickening crackle and hiss. His body stiffened. His footing was unsteady. He leaned on the wall for support before his knees could give out.

THUMP-THUMP-THUMP!

There were shouts. A thudding of feet. A tackle connected with his torso, snapping him out of his stupor, and he fell to the floor with a cop on top of him. He threw a punch upward. The cop fell back. He sat up, adrenaline dumping, and was met with the canine pokémon's jaws about to close around his throat.

He couldn't stop it. He couldn't move fast enough. He wouldn't be able to overpower the thing even if he could get his hands on it. He was fucked. They got him.

~~~
Monty shot up in bed with a gasp, clawing anxiously at his throat for tooth marks that weren't there. Abnégarde had been sleeping on his chest, and his sudden movement prompted an indignant torrent of yips and yaps for disturbing her sleep. Oracle was laying on the other bed, and she studied her trainer curiously. Chauffemagne was stood up, front paws on Monty's bed, making sure his trainer was alright.
It was just a nightmare. He wasn't alone.
Monty swung himself out of the sweat-soaked bed, still a little shaken up, and checked his phone. Six A.M.— time to start the day.
After a quick shower and brush of his teeth, the criminal dressed himself for the day and fed his team the last of the pokémon food he had on hand. He left Oracle in the room, but Chauffemagne and Abnégarde were confined to their balls as he stomped down the hotel halls to the dining hall.
He spotted Esther and Azumi already eating, and he silently cursed his luck that the cop-in-training was still around. Tout ce que, tout ce que. Monty wasn't technically doing anything that should sick her on him, so it should be fine.
He loaded two plates full of croissants, ouefs cocette, and pain perdu, and with a hefty glass of pinap berry juice he took his spot at the table with the girls.
"Bonjour. I hope three's not to big a crowd for you ladies."
Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 1st)
As Adrianne walked to the Pokemon Center, she stopped a bit when she noticed that Reggie seemed to not be following her, she glanced back to him as he seemed to have a look of shock on his face; had she said something that surprising? Course, this look of confusion shifted to almost a look of wonder as if he just made the most magical discovery ever. Before Adrianne had a chance to inquire about this, Reggie came over to her and seemed to pull her head against him arm around her shoulder as he seemed to express his gratitude about this journey with her as she blinked a bit taken aback by his rather animated reaction.
"Uh d-don't sweat it..." Adrianne said before he seemed to remember where they were going and moved off her, walking forward as if he had walked out of a Saturday Morning Cartoon with those exaggerated steps. Adrianne hated to admit it but she found it amusing as she stifled a giggle and walked to follow him as one thing was clear, Reggie continued to find ways to make even the most mundane things interesting which she appreciated. "Careful there, take longer steps and you may pull something."
Her bit of advice was cut off when Reggie turned and asked why she desired to compete in the Orange League, what her motivation was you know those deep conviction type questions. Adrianne in turn seemed to not even need to think as she already knew for herself why she did what she did. "Simple. If I want to begin my adventure, I'd rather explore my home first. Gives me a chance to see all the wonderful islands here and really soak in the culture." Adrianne explained, before she'd further add on. "Far as why the Orange League, well, my goal is to one day become a Champion and maybe even be at the top of a League of my own like our top guy Drake. That would be so cool! But I know I need to have a tough team I can count on and also get up to snuff as a trainer, so I entered the World Coronation Series and think the Orange League will be a good way to get big experience and possibly meet some foes competing in the WCS as well." Adrianne said, as she more or less explained herself.
There had been one personal detail she omitted, but she'd rather not talk about it given her family history. Soon they entered inside the Pokemon Center as Adrianne walked right up to the Nurse Joy inside as she aimed to get Aqua and Ace healed up.
‘Miss Esther...?’ At only seventeen, Esther shuddered at Azumi’s greeting, viscerally uncomfortable with the honorific appended to her name.
“Just Esther, please. But if you must, then بانو (Banō), not Miss.” The Oblivian waved to the seat to her left, indicating that Azumi was free to sit wherever she liked. Though, Azumi had already seen to a seat. “If you were that curious about the city then you should’ve come with us! I think Santalune’s wonderful, it’s so much bigger than my hometown and the castles—“
Esther paused to sample her oeuf cocottes and released a blissful sigh as the soft-boiled eggs melted across her tongue, followed soon after by the cream, cheese, and spices that had topped it. ”Uwww, I’d love a few more!”
“We went rock climbing around the Santalune Forest and, I have to say, staying in an Inn is really missing out on the beauty of Kalos. Maybe we should camp out more?”
There was no need to mention her own monetary troubles, ehehe~
“By the way, how much did you pay for the rooms? Let me reimburse you.”
Esther peeked at her bank balance—cringe!
Another sigh escaped her lips as Monty strolled up to breakfast.
“Oh, hey Monty...have you seen Nico?”
"I haven't seen him since the forest yesterday. He never showed up last night?" Damn, where did Nico go off to? The foreigner hadn't mentioned splitting off from the group. Was he still on Ouvert?
Monty's mind conjured an image of Nico and Pepper huddled around a campfire, a pack of hungry pokémon lurking in the shadows. Maybe if the kid was as good a cook as he said he'd be able to escape becoming a meal himself. Xern' bless him this breakfast feast would be in memoriam.
By muscle memory, the criminal's arms drifted onto the table and rested on either side of his overburdened plate. The only lingered for a second or two before Monty caught himself, retracting them casually before tucking into his oeuf cocottes. It was a habit he picked up during his first stint in prison, and it was true that old habits died hard.
Shit, hopefully the cop-in-training didn't notice. Monty did his best not to give Azumi the side eye as he chewed, and he quickly cleared half his plate before turning to the blonde woman. "So how was the homework? You missed out on the forest, Nico must've had so much fun he didn't want to leave!"
It was a new day, which meant it was time to get going, and find his way out of here. Sounds easy enough, right? Pepper and Brocolli came out of their Pokéballs to walk with him, since they thought it'd br lonely for Nico to walk around in the woods alone. His Pansage ran infront of Nico, and started up and down to an opening in Santalune Forest to what Nico thinks would be Ouvert Way. He hoped it was, he really couldn't wait to get out of here. He went through the opening, and luckily, it was Ouvert Way!
He was so relieved, as from here, this wouldn't be much harder to traverse than Santalune Forest, and then he should go meet up with Monty and Esther. He kept walking, and in about five minutes, he'd make it into Santalune City again. Okay, he'd found his way back to Santalune City again, but now his main problem was looking where Monty and Esther were. He thought about it, and looking for them himself would take a bit too long, and who knows if they were chasing their own tails? So best plan of action, was to wait in town square. There was no chance they wouldn't find him, and to be honest, if he looked for them himself, he would probably get lost, again.
WCS Rank: 70,231
Interactions: Adrianne Silvers (Godjacob)
Adrianne's reaction to his sudden gratitude made him feel a little sheepish, but he had made that amend by letting go of her swiftly afterwards. He didn't want to make the girl uncomfortable. She was starting to grow on him, like a sister. He's never had a sister before...!
Her comment about him likely pulling something had him just waving a hand at her nonchalantly. He was fiiiiine.
Reggie's inquiry was answered, but he felt like there was something more to it. Though, her idea of starting with her home first for the adventure was a good one, soak in the many wondrous cultures that she may not have been privy to just living on one island, and she wanted to become the champion. Oh, that's right, she said something about that earlier, didn't she? Beating Drake and being the queen of the Orange Islands sounded amazing, and he was happy for her. She also wanted to take on the WCS to hone her skills, which was also amazing.
Still, just wanting to be strong didn't seem like it would have fit her. He pursed his lips as he righted himself before hitting someone, apologizing to them as he walked into the Pokemon Center. With Adrianne putting her PokeBalls on the counter, he leaned against the counter heavily, his head resting against a fist with the arm - and consequently his head - swaying side to side on his elbow. "Hmmmmm.... Is it really that simple?"
He knew how to read people fairly well, and it wasn't just a thing he found during business. It also helped he was highly sensitive towards emotions of others, especially Ghost-Types. Maybe he'll get her during a fun little game later. That was when he locked eyes with a promising looking trainer off sitting on the booth. The staring contest ended in a few seconds, but it was long enough to determine that they were both - indeed - raring to go.
"Hm, well, I'm gonna help you reach your goals, girlie, even if it means cheering you on from the sidelines. Also..." He got quiet, his eyes darting over to the guy who was now leaving the Pokemon Center. "Pretty sure that guy wants to fight me. Wanna see me fight him?"
Did his mind feel at ease to fight him in this moment? No, definitely not, it was still waking up and he was feeling really scatter-brained. But he did want to show off, so why not?
Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - A park in Eterna City, Sinnoh
"We can have our pokemon play some more later, right?" Gwen suggested, noting how friendly Ozzy seemed with Orochi. He was a baby after all, so maybe he saw the Zweiouls as sort of a big brother? That was Gwen's guess at least. Getting up to stand, Cobalt looked up at his trainer as the cuddling stopped, "Will do, Mr. Punk! Ozzy! Come over here," the young trainer called. It took Gwen a second time before getting Ozzy to react in any sort of way, as the Deino did one last little headbutt to Orochi, before rushing towards the voice of his trainer.
"Omph-" escaped the blue haired girl as the small Irate pokemon bumped against her legs, but he hasn't bitten her yet. Maybe that was a good sign, oh no wait, Ozzy had started to gnaw at her shoes.
"No wait- Not my shoes-" Gwen tried to object, but her trying to free her shoes only made Ozzy think that she was playing a game with him. Letting out a playful growl as he tugged at the strings of her shoes. Cobalt meanwhile seemed to be enjoying the show. This dragon seemed quite like a nuisance, but he wouldn't let that get his guard down. Gwen meanwhile took a mental note to try and get Ozzy some sort of chew toy instead of her or her items becoming one instead. Looking around, Gwen managed to find a stick.
"Here, bite this instead," she said and extended the twig to the dark/dragon type. Almost immediately, Ozzy chomped down on the stick to make sense of the object and he and Gwen then began to play a sort of 'tug of war' with each other.
While Iris was sniping the Blastoise with Solar Beams, Rick saw a Malamar provoking the giant Blastoise, giving it more reasons to beat them up harder than it was already capable of. Rick wasn't quite sure what their plan was, he didn't even know if there was a plan. The way things were going, it didn't seem like there was. Granted, the turtle's head wasn't quite there due to its confused state, but things would get pretty bad once it regained its senses.
Speaking of which...
"Hold that charge!" Rick said, stretching an arm in front of Iris as she was about to fire another beam before the Blastoise tucked itself in its shell and started spinning rapidly with Rapid Spin. And while that move normaly wouldn't be reason for much concern, when the user is the size of a three-story building, in the water, and is absolutely pissed, the result is a giant whirlpool of cataclysmic proportions. Rick sighed. "Nice! Now what?" He asked, mostly to himself. Iris still fired the Solar Beam she charged to test the waters. Unsurprisingly, it simply got deflected.
Rick's eyes narrowed. Random attacks wouldn't do the trick, especialy for as long as that whirlpool was still going. Iris herself couldn't do much against something that big and especialy without being able to get close. And the Blastoise didn't seem much inclined on getting close anytime soon. "Now I really need you to get those miniors sparking. Get up to the highest spot and get charging. Everything else is a waste of energy." Rick said to Iris. The mare nodded and ran off. She jumped onto the tallest building near the beach and closed her eyes as she gathered the sunlight.
Azumi Towers- Santalune, Kalos - July 2nd.
"How much I paid?" Azumi placed the tip of her finger to her chin, she had been so focused on getting a nap she had forgotten to take in consideration the costs for the rooms. "Oh well don't worry about it." She shrugged with a smile while take a spoonful of yogurt.
She listened as the two lovers spoke about their missing friend. Azumi did recall having seen him while escaping the gardens, but not anymore after that. She wished she could help them find their friend, but it seemed they were confident he was going to be fine.
"I do apologize for not going with you two yesterday. My homework was, interesting. Not to bore you all with details, but I was just writing an essay about the difference between being morally correct and being ethically correct. I actually got a job offer which I can't say I'm too excited to accept but it is a wonderful opportunity which I welcome any time of the day. So, it was rather a rollercoaster of emotions back in my hotel room, between getting homework done, talking to my sister and Nana trying to empty out the mini fridge." Azumi stopped talking, noticing she was gathering all the attention to herself.
According to making friends for dummies, it was always good to show others interest in their lives. Making the entire conversation about yourself usually made you seem selfish, which pushed possible friends away. The best way to show you care about them and are interested in their lives, was to ask questions.
"I was wondering, do you two plan to move on from this town? I am having trouble deciding where to go next. Anything you would recommend? Specially you Mister Montagne, as a native I'm sure you know some great places to visit. I'm a native myself but I don't travel on my own very often."
Montagne Khastil
July 2 - Santalune City, Kalos
"Since the tournament's still a few days away," Monty began, shifting his focus from Azumi to Esther. "We can head back to Lumiose and make a day out of it. We'll need to pass back through regardless, but there are a few spots we can check out while we're there. The view from Lumiose Tower est magnifique, and the nightlife is unmatched if you're into partying."
Monty finished the last couple of bites from his first plate before another thought came to mind. "Oh, and there's a gym if you're looking to challenge it. I think I'll pass, though."
As far as the criminal was concerned, his job was done. The gym badge was won, and after the Shabboneau tournament he should be home free. He'd be able to put this trainer business behind him, and he'd be able to return to his life spent bouncing at the brothel and running jobs for the Old Guard.
So why wasn't he excited?
Monty chewed his croissants half-heartedly as emotions clashed. He should be happy to put pokémon training behind him, and yet another part of him couldn't shake the feeling he got when he looked out at Santalune Forest the previous day. It was a sight he would have likely never seen had he stayed couped up within Lumiose city's walls, a sight he would have never seen if he never teamed up with Esther for pokémon training's sake.
Then there was the matter of his team. What would he do with them once he no longer had Cormier's orders to train hanging over his head? Could he just abandon them? Pokémon trainers were weaklings, people who relied on their partners because they weren't strong enough to rely on themselves. They weren't strong like him.
And yet, that wasn't true.
Esther was strong. It was only thanks to her infectious tenacity that he was able to dive headfirst into the Combee swarm, and that he was able to scale the rocky cliff to see the splendid sight of Santalune Forest lit by the evening sun.
He was weak. That night's nightmare reminded him of that. Sure, he was strong enough to beat most humans in a fight, but he wasn't strong enough to defeat a pokémon. The Boltund proved it the night of the raid on Hibernal Ave's warehouse. The Ghastly proved it that night in the prison. And the Houndoom proved it that night at camp with Oracle.
Then there was the matter of Oracle herself. For all the posturing he did about trainers being weak, he had to admit he'd grown to rely on the Absol being at his side. It would be hard to walk away from her. Did part of him really want to keep training, regardless of whether or not he had to?
The last of Monty's food disappeared down his gaping maw as he tore his train of thought away from the impending end of his training. "I better grab my things from my room. Excuse-moi."
The criminal stood up abruptly and stowed his plates at the dirty dish station before returning to his room.
In Esther’s care: Houndour
Esther tensed. ‘Don’t worry about it?’
It wouldn’t be a problem if the sum were small, a few bucks were hardly worth fussing over, but hotels and inns rarely had the adjective ‘small’ attached to their price tags. The prices in Galar had ranged from a few tens to over a hundred per night and. she had no reason to believe the price in Kalos would be much different.
While Esther didn’t really want for money, her family was rather well off and she could always turn to them, but she loathed to do so. A trainer’s journey was all about their independence, their ability to manage themselves, and that extended to their finances. She’d soon forgo meals than turn to her family for money and she certainly wasn’t going to mooch off the generosity of someone she’d met only yesterday.
Esther shrugged when Monty turned in her direction, she kept her focus on Azumi but remained courteously silent as Monty spoke. She had no designs on the Lumiose gym, so maybe she’d purview the city? She’d need money if she were going to do anything and that brought her back to Azumi.
“No, please. I must insist. How much was it?”
Laura Willham
"Phew, I think that's the last one." Spoke an exhausted Laura as she herded what appeared to be the final Wooloo into the pen. For the past 30 minutes, the young woman has been desperately trying to get the sheep pokemon into the pen but has been embarrassingly unsuccessful at it. If she was going to perform like this during every pre-battle challenge, then it looks like there'll be a long road ahead of her.
Seeing the challenger manage to finally finish the trial, the gym attendant was quick to get a move on. "Congratulations to our challenger for completing the trial! Now with that finished, you may challenge our Gym Leader to a battle for a chance to earn the Grass Badge!" She exclaimed. The attendant then motioned towards the gate leading to the main stadium. "Whenever you're ready, please head out that way."
Laura took a few deep breaths, trying to recover a bit after that embarrassing display. "That was horrible, I really hope I'll do better during the battle segment of this." She then let out a sigh. "This is not a good first look for me." She mumbled sadly. Following her moment of pity, the young woman straightened herself. "Alright, I'm ready." She said to herself before walking out to the battlefield.
Reina Cortez, undisputed Academia La Paz Champion, July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Current rank, 34,107
"Wow." Reina was speechless as the whirlpool began to rise from the waters and started to mix with the sky. "That Pokemon is powerful!" She exclaimed, somewhat delighted to witness such monster. "Peque come back!"
While Reina returned her starter Pokemon, she tapped on Storm's neck, asking for the ferry Pokemon to start swimming away from the cyclone. Storm quickly turned around and began heading back towards the beach, pushing against the currents trying to wash her and her trainer into the storm being created by the Blastoise. Reina gulped as the currents got stronger and stronger, causing her trusty water Pokemon to start slowly falling back. "Come on Storm! You can do it!"
Storm roared as she outstretched her neck, swimming like she had never done so before, but only managing to stop themselves from moving backawards.
July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline
After Naka had brutally insulted Eveline because they misunderstood how Foul Play worked (even if she felt like it was undeserved, that move was confusing), Eveline shot her a glare, almost as if to say "bitch, don't test me". She would fly over to Disorder to tell him plans have changed, just use Night Slash. However, right after telling him, water was about to absolutely ruin them. She would quickly fly back, pulling on Dominance's hat in order to make them move faster. Disorder would, however, zoom in closer, weaving through that blasts of water before smacking them with a meaty Night Slash.
July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Genevieve
Against her will, Gene was picked up, and to Sticky Fingers' relief, he was allowed to let go of the hot dog cart. This was a joyous day indeed, the child was protect, and the octopus has now begun rest.
Azumi Towers- Santalune, Kalos - July 2nd.
Azumi waved at Monty, he seemed a bit different than the day before, but maybe he had a rough night. Esther picked up their earlier conversation, she nodded. "Sure, let me check my phone, the receipt should be in there."
"I believe it was 111 for each room." She sighed as she saw the cost for the snacks Nana took from the mini fridge, "So, Lumiose? I recall you two battling there. Watching another gym fight could be fun. Mind if I tag along? I know the city well, I promise I can be a good tour guide. Oh, I even know some good places to eat and shop."
Azumi made sure her bowl and utensils were neatly accommodated before standing up, "I'll go gather my things and clean my room so the cleaning personal doesn't have too much work."
"See you outside?" Azumi asked, not sure if they were okay with her tagging along, but she could always excuse herself is she found them uncomfortable with her presence.
Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)
"Kid I swear to Arceus you are gonna get me killed one day." Desmond muttered a bit, if there had been one advantage to the mass panic that filled his very being it is that his adrenaline had gotten a significant boost which allowed him to easily carry the child even as Kricketune's hand dangled off Gene's.
Desmond worked to make sure the kid was out of harms way, which was something that seemed easier said than done as Blastoise seemed to be more annoyed at the attacks than anything else and used a Rapid Spin which in combination with the water caused a FREAKIN VORTEXT TO RISE TO THE SKY!?
So this is how I die, on a beach at the hands of a massive Blastoise because I just had to get some stupid underwater photos.
Desmond of course set Gene behind the hot dog stand which had been a fair distance from the shore as for now he just wanted to get out of this mess in one piece. Where was the police in all this!? What was Officer Jenny busy getting coffee or something!? As Desmond tried to distract himself and find something to blame, Krickstune looked on seeing the other Pokemon fighting including Politoed and seemed to want to help. Desmond picked up on this and sighed, what could they possibly do? He had not been a battle trainer and while Politoed was no slouch, battling had not been what they had trained for. And he only recently caught Kricketune.
Desmond bit his lip, in theory, if Kricketune could get its lyrics for Sing into the ears of the Blastoise it may have been able to calm it down some, if nothing else it'd least open up the window for others...but Desmond lacked much nerve for such a move, and he'd rather call back his Pokemon than risk all their collective necks. Damn it why of all times now had he given a damn about something like this!?
"T-tune..."
Desmond glanced at the concerned Kricketune, as Politoed ahead of them tried to fire Mud Shots as the massive vortex of water which had predictably done little; if anything the sheer wind produced by it caused Politoed to stumble back but the frog continued to get up and try. Kricketune seemed to nudge as if it wanted to help, and Desmond glanced at its partner and the others fighting as he seemed to bite his lip.
"Alright...fine! Get Politoed back here and we can make a plan, I may have an idea." Desmond said as the Krickstune's eyes lit up and walked over to get Politoed's attention. Desmond glanced at Gene next to him.
"You stay here, no matter what happens just stay here." Desmond stressed to the kid as his face paled and he looked at the monster ahead of them. Was he really about to do this? Well....no turning back now.
Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 1st)
Adrianne soon got her Pokeballs back from the Nurse Joy who smiled happily her way. "There we go, they should be all good now, just make sure they get some natural rest and I wish you a good evening."
"Thanks Nurse Joy. Take care~" Adrianne smiled as she placed her Pokeballs on her belt and walked back over to Reggie. Who seemed to express support for her goal and even seemed to hint he'd be willing to cheer for her, and while Adrianne of course had a little more motive to her goal she'd rather speak of it at another time and place. She had not even been sure if Reggie wondered if there was more to it or not, but that seemed to not matter as Reggie seemed to suggest some guy wished to battle him.
Adrianne glanced at the guy, he did seemed to glance at the pair with interest, she sensed he might've been a trainer, before she glanced back to Reggie as he asked if she wanted to watch him. "Do I want to watch? Course I do! If we are traveling together we should support one another~!" Adrianne said with a smile, and given that Reggie had been the more experienced trainer between the two so she might've been able to pick up on some tips.
This had been quite exciting!
~Aldon...~
~Yellow Island, July 19th...~
There was a slight bit of calmness. Albeit that was just Aldon's perceived view of the current unfolding situation. The blastoise was still very much a threat, but in a way it didn't feel so. It was quite a distance away and it hadn't made an attempt to attack him. This battle couldn't go on forever, right? Aldon looked over at Desmond who seemed to be concerned with dying. Aldon thought on it for a moment, then snapped his fingers, and grinned.
"Desmond!!!" He yelled. He waited for desmond to look, and as soon as he would, he'd instantly snap a photo of him.
"I can't stop that blastoise from killing us, but I caaan save this moment. Your welcome..." Aldon said grinning. He looked at Desmond who was looking at the beast. Still smirking, he wondered.
"Your not planning on going out there, are you...? Are you...? If you are, I'm going with you" Aldon said.
"Magna! Magna! Magna!" Zippy floated over to Aldon.
Ezio Farello - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh
"Of course! I take good care of all my Pokémon, and Excavate is no exception!" Ezio said, grinning as Jolteon fired off sharp needles. The attack barely even scratched Excavate who stared down the Electric type. "Let's not stall this out. Excavate, Earthquake!"
The Steelix raised its tail and slammed it down on the ground, sending white shockwaves across the ground as everything around the two trainers shook. It was a powerful move, and Ezio seriously doubted that Raiten could take the hit.
Nicole Newman - June 16th - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area Galar
"I guess." Nicole said, turning her back to the Sigilyph and setting up her camera. "Okay, let's get comfortable. Those Swablu will not come any time soon, if previous experiences are reliable sources." The Bird Keeper noted before sitting down and looking up at the sky, once again getting mimicked by the Sigilyph.
Pokemon Team: Mudster the Swampert, Iwa the Wishiwashi, Aero the Aerodactyl, Hattie the Hatterene, Silenus the Sceptile, Yuki the Froslass, Tochi the Parasect
Interactions: Blastoise, Esther (kyuukestu), Reina, and Storm the Lapras (Hecotoro)
Mentions: Eveline, Dominance the Honchkrow, Disorder the Malamar and Revengeance the Pawniard (GQuasch)
Esther's thought process of Naka having a plan had her chuckling. Oh. Whoops. It seemed like it, didn't it?
The Blastoise barely even felt the much smaller attacks, letting her know that they needed extra firepower. She looked back at her Sceptile, who nodded yet with some reluctance. As the Blastoise's body popped into his shell - a telltale sign of a Rapid Spin - Naka was already in action. She returned her Hatterene and Froslass, then steered Aero towards Esther, grabbing her and the stuck-together Wingull with her to sit her in front of her. Closing his wings, Aero dove down, the strength of Fly shining his body with sky blue aura and allowing him to brave the winds and vortexing water that was now behind him, nearly dodging a Solar Beam and its partial ricochet.
He dove down, and that's when Naka saw Reina and her Lapras were struggling. Unsure of where Eveline's Pawniard was, she looked back to see her Malamar diving in. Was he crazy??? Since Eveline was busy braving the harsh winds with her Honchkrow, Naka decided to just focus on Reina. Releasing her Barraskewda, she told him to use Whirlpool. The falling fish unleashed a battle-ready whirlpool above Reina, then aimed it down, making the waters surge and creating a wave that would push Reina and her Lapras towards shore.
Once that was done, Brute Tooth fell into the water and spun his propeller tail to the max as he used Aqua Jet and Waterfall to get the speed and power necessary to fight the currents, swimming alongside Reina and offering his reins to her to help with powering through the waves by throwing them at her. Naka looked back at her Sceptile, who grimaced. "It's alright, Silenus. We'll have you use Frenzy Plant in a moment." Aero with his cargo flew alongside Reina and Storm, Naka getting off the call with Esther so their phones don't have horrendous feedback. "Let's wait until it's done with making a vortex. Because it got Swagger'd three times, I can't unburn it, unless anyone can confuse it and flinch it fast enough for us to remove the burn and try to put it to sleep. Having to use Foul Play on it would be a good idea, but I'm unsure how alive Eveline's Malamar is after jumping into the vortex. Those waters are enough to turn him into tiny strips ready for sushi rolls." She expressed her concerns, looking back at the water to see if Disorder was indeed alive.
Nakano Saito
Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 16
Location: Eterna City Park, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous
Interactions: Gwen Tucker, Cobalt the Piplup, and Ozzy the Deino (IDKWhatUserNameToDo), Ron Towers, Linkin the Blastoise, Monster the Tyranitar, Evanes the Skarmory, Marley the Raichu, and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro)
Floffer. Naka had to keep herself from laughing at his attempts, but finding it sweet that he was at least trying. Fluffy's ears perked up upon hearing that it was now okay to be near Luz. He nodded eagerly, wanting to prove to him he wasn't some dumb mutt. Hearing it was time to go, Naka returned her Froslass, Infernape, and Aerodactyl. She waited for her Pichu, who was being held so adorably by his Raichu. She chuckled, her Pichu looking up at Marley as she was set down and waved cheerily, squeaking to her that they can play later. She then hopped on over to Naka, climbing up her body to rest at her shoulder. Well, until she let out a small shock at being returned, as well, Naka's frizzing up slightly. She nodded at Gwen's question, smiling. "Yup, we got an entire Sinnoh region to travel through, barring my leaves of absences. There's stuff in Johto I want to experience eventually."
Orochi returned a soft headbutt to Ozzy before being returned by Naka, Ozzy's nature to bite everything and trying to eat her shoes had Naka laughing even more.
Fluffy sighed when he felt the Espeon play and knead his tail fluff. He stared at her, as if contemplating on stopping her or letting her. Having her sniff around him and even touch his ears had them drooping immediately, looking away as she rubbed against him. Why was she so snuggly??? Sighing, he just sat there and took it, not wanting to look like he was enjoying any of this. Though, his tail did wag slightly.
That was until Ron said something about her laugh, and she paused immediately, a look of exasperated mocking offense on her face as she lightly nudged his shoulder. "Take that ba- Nah I don't care." She flipped on a dime, giggling. "Sure thing." She walked alongside him, hands in her pockets as she left Gwen to her own devices. She figured Gwen would be fine.
"So, punk-man, what's your name? I'm not going to continue calling you 'Bob' of all things." She chuckled, shaking her head. She eyed him a bit more. "You in an alt band or something? I just noticed you got the look for that." The prospect that he might have made songs had her eyes widening. "Ohh, if you are, what songs did you make???" The exciting prospect of sharing something like that was thrilling, and she wanted to see if he made anything that she might like.
Milo
Date: August 1
Location: Turffield Stadium, Turffield, Galar
Pokemon Team: Oddish, Eldegoss
Interactions: Laura Willham (Grand Master Koop)
Milo was wondering what took the new challenger so long. Normally, it wouldn't take longer than ten minutes, but - then again - most people probably didn't herd Wooloo too often.
Once his new challenger arrived on the battlefield, Milo came walking out, waving to the crowd, who immediately cheered for his arrival. He then smiled at the lady, not really noticing anything wrong with her. "Proper job on getting through the challenge, trainer! I might need to Dynamax my Pokemon if you were just biding your time back there!" He said that in hopes of raising her spirits for the fight. He was the first gym leader, after all. He was here to have trainers dip their toes into this scene.
First, he sent out Oddish, the blue raddish sproutling tapped his little feet on the ground, as if ready to start sprinting around the stadium. This Oddish obviously looked tougher than regular Oddish, likely having not evolved even though it obviously could.
Team On-hand: Pyrrha (Jangmo-o), Pariparisithea (Munna), Halay-Alae (Houndour), L’ Basseau (Surskit), La Bamba (Shellos) In Esther’s care: Feebas
“I don’t think that’s a goo—Aaand too late...” Esther winced as Disorder dove at the Blastoise with an admittedly powerful night slash. However, brave as the Malamar might’ve been, when 5 ft of psychic alien penguin collided with three stories of violently spinning turtle, it wasn’t even close to an even collision.
From Esther’s point of view, Disorder had been subsumed by the wall of water and presumably steamrolled by the Blastoise many many times its size. Its true fate was unknown, but Esther didn’t have high hopes for it. Worse yet, the Blastoise was now moving in their direction!
Quick action from Naka pulled Esther along as the former’s Aerodactyl strafed the sea and her water types pounced to assist Reina. The Oblivian bit her lip, she wasn’t a fan of being dragged around, but she did see the necessity in action first, consent later. Either way, Naka’s actions had saved her from the Blastoiose and—wait. “Is that thing getting faster?”
Esther bit her lip. Her eyes blanched for a second as telepathic communications passed between herself and the Wingull. As clarity returned Esther struggled from Naka’s grasp a swift kick dislodging the sail from her board. A horizontal twist turned her wind sail into a bird-powered paraglider and Esther took two steps off Aerodactyl and into the air. Her grip was tight, knuckles white with the exertion, but she knew she had to do something.
If Blastoise kept speeding up eventually they’d be caught.
“Scatter! I’ll give us some cover, Wingull «Mist»!”
As one, her flock of Wingull pulled moisture from the ocean below and quickly covered the water with a thick mist. It robbed vision but was rather one sided where it counted. Even through the mist, there was no missing the massive Blastoise and the towering vortex of water around it. They could easily tell where it was, but the reverse wasn’t true.
Blastoise couldn’t chase them if it couldn’t see them (or so Esther hoped) and the bulk of her companions would be safe in the sky. The only concern was the water-bound Reina and she was already en route to shore courtesy of Naka.
It didn’t take long for Esther to circle around to the beach and make a haphazard landing. She bit her lip and searched the mist for any indication of her friends.
Ron Towers, Eterna City, Sinnoh. June 16th.
"Bob can't be a real name?" Ron raised an eyebrow at the blonde, but she had shown she wasn't a danger to him or anyone, except maybe grunts. "Ron, Ron Towers." He gave her a small salute as if meeting for the first time.
Her next question made him smirk a bit. Did he really have that look? It was probably something he couldn't get rid of, at least not at the moment. Then a quick flashback of his days in Goldenrod came back again, a bit annoying but maybe it had to do with the fact that he was interacting with other people who weren't trying to kill him.
"I was in a band..." he decided to mess around with Naka a bit, see if she could see through it. "Country. I know it doesn't look like it, I'm a rock fan myself, but my drums just click in country music. I had the talent for it, figured I could play country and listen to rock at the same time. It worked out. Was in a band called Horny Tauros, we were a hit back in Olivine City."
As he amused himself with inventing a past that never existed, he spotted the bar that had been mention to him back in the clothing store. He looked back, watching Luz joyfully skip along behind them, her tail touching Fluffy's every once and then to make sure she wasn't getting separated. He sighed and looked back ahead, it seemed people were beginning to gather at the place, which meant it was probably going to get full later on.
As they reached the door, Ron held it open for Naka and the two Pokemon walking inside, getting inspection look from the bouncer to make sure the Pokemon weren't too big for the place. Inside the place was pretty lively. There were posters of different Pokemon Leagues from different years, each having the name of the champion and the year with their Hall of Fame photo. There was a pool table, already occupied, a long bar and several tables placed around the central area. The stage was what caught Ron's attention, it was the most illuminated section of the bar, and the drums were bright red and tempting to the drummer. He couldn't help but tap his hand against his thigh as the music sounded far in the back somewhere.
"Let's get a spot at the bar." He signaled, nodding his head towards four empty stools. As he took a sit and Luz jumped to the empty one on his right, he leaned forward on the counter before looking at Naka. "What do you drink?"
Montagne Khastil
July 2 - Santalune City, Kalos
Monty's backpack felt lighter than usual as he hefted it onto his shoulders, and he added a trip to the PokéMart for more pokémon food to his mental checklist. The extra room let him stuff his jacket in among the rest of his supplies, including the measely two other changes of clothes he had. He'd have to hit a laundromat by the end of the night.
Oracle lazily watched Monty examine himself in the mirror outside the bathroom. The Absol could understand wanting to be in a state of well-dress, but in the weeks she'd spent with the man it became clear he could try harder. Every day we wore the same sorts of things but in different colors, and today was no different— A dark blue garment over a white sleeveless garment paired with those tacky brown pants.
Useless Monty would do better to invest in a lustrous fur coat like her own if he wanted to look good!
"Ready to go?" Monty finished examining his outfit and gestured for Oracle to follow. The Absol begrudingly stood from the bed and walked over, and together they checked out of the hotel and stepped outside to wait for the rest of the group.
They didn't need to wait long, though, as Azumi was already outside. The hotel was fairly close to the city square, and from the corner of his eye the criminal thought he spotted Nico milling about, too.
"Journée chaude, eh?" Monty asked to break the ice as he and Oracle felt the embrace of the already-hot June air. "Will you be joining us in Lumiose?"
Azumi Towers- Santalune, Kalos - July 2nd.
"It is indeed." Azumi replied with a nod, "I do enjoy a nice summer breeze though."
Nana wasn't so happy about Monty showing up, again. He gave her bad vibes, which she strongly transmitted to her trainer, but for some reason, Azumi wasn't paying attention to them.
"Yes, if that's okay. I want to see another gym battle and of course watch your lovely Absol in action. She continues to impress me, I might have to get one of my own one day."
That son of a bitch! Nana couldn't believe it, was that his plan? To replace her with a dark type? Evil, evil, EVIL!
"Hey Montagne, have we met before? Sorry for the question but my Gardevoir keeps nagging at me. Her species can sense the feelings of those around her and it seems she is suspicious of you? You seem like a nice person so I'm guessing we met before and she has a negative memory about you."
Nico turned his head to see Monty, Esther, and the female they met on Route 3, Azumi. It was good that he could finally group up with them again, since he got lost in Santalune Forest last night. He walked up towards them, and greeted them.
"Hey Esther, Hey Monty, Hi Azumi! Sorry I disappeared yesterday, Got a bit turned around.." He said, with a chuckle. He was fine for the most part though, and that's what mattered. He grabbed his newly caught Pokémon's Pokéball, Brocolli the Pansage to show them. With a click of a button, and a flash of light, Pansage appeared beside Nico. "While I was gone, I caught this guy in Santalune Forest! He also helped me get out of there." He mentioned, fairly excited cause he's got a new member of his team.
Reginald Valerias
Date: June 1
Location: Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago
Pokemon Team: Emeric the Shiny Haunter, Elvira the Munna, Bob the Shedinja, Large Marge the Drifloon, Missy the Misdreavus
WCS Rank: 70,231
Interactions: Adrianne Silvers (Godjacob)
Hearing an affirmative on supporting each other, Reggie nodded happily, fist pumping in the air as he let out a hissing "yesssssss". He then joyfully skipped out of the Pokemon Center to meet this individual. This guy wore sandals, cargo shorts, and a blue and white Alolan polo shirt. Reggie's demeanor upon skipping out of the Pokemon Center had the man regarding him with a raised eyebrow.
"Uhhh... You okay?"
"Me? I'm more than fine! You ready for a fight?" Reggie beamed up at the guy, who shook his head as he wiped his sunglasses with his shirt before putting them on his head.
"Sure thing. Name's Chance." The man nodded at him, holding one of his PokeBalls.
"Nice to meet ya, Chance. Name's Reggie. How many ya got?" He nodded back to him, Chance smirking.
"Only three."
"I'll match ya then. Ya WCSin'?"
"Yup." Both trainers showed their rankings on their phones. Reggie's rank: 70,231. Chance's rank: 69,989.
"Daaaaaang, I gotta be careful with ya then, top shot." Reggie grinned and complimented, Chance laughing.
"Oh, I'm thinking you got somethin' up your sleeves, pal. I won't be going easy on ya."
"I would hope not." Reggie laughed. "Lower numbers go first~." He teased, Chance chuckling and shaking his head.
A Rotom was pinged and flew down from the heavens, marking the start of a WCS battle as it scanned the contestants.
"Here we come!" Chance threw out the PokeBall, a brown reindeer with a big snout and branching horns landed, a necklace of something light green and looking like clay around its neck.
"Hmm, a Stantler..." Reggie commented. He didn't think Stantler had any moves that could target Shedinja, at least not at the top of his head. He rubbed the little spot on Shedinja's head, the shell leaving his pocket and entering the field, moving stiffly.
"Oh, you bitch!" Chance said playfully with an exasperated chuckle, obviously knowing his Stantler was practically useless against the Shedinja. "Oh well, Confuse Ray."
"Bob, Dig!" The shell spun and hit the ground, dodging the glowing lights that emanated from the Stantler's horns, then faded into nothingness.
"Light Screen." The Stantler's horns glowed blue, and a screen made of light showered over his side of the field. Bob unearthed and slammed his head into the gut of the Stantler, but the Normal-Type was rather bulky and he took it well.
"Hmm, what are its weaknesses again... Do I even have anything that could target it...?" Reggie thought aloud to himself. That's when he snapped his fingers. It must be a Psychic-Type! "Shadow Claw!"
Bob's body glowed with ghostly energy, a shadowy echo of itself reaching out with a quick swipe of his sharp, shadowy foreleg, only for the energy to pass right through. Both Chance and his Stantler gave a very deadpanned look.
Reggie had to pause for a moment, and he stared dumbfoundedly before he groaned and grabbed his hair, head lolling back. "Damn it, I forgot!"
Chance laughed, shaking his head. "Hypnosis!"
As the Stantler's horns and eyes pulsated blue, Bob turned around to show the hole on his back. Stantler's move faltered, failing. Not that the hole had any special properties, but it spooked the Stantler from his concentration.
Growling and gritting his teeth, Reggie recalled Bob to his PokeBall. "You did what you could." He then patted Munna above him, the Psychic-Type gracefully floating into the battlefield. "Hypnosis."
"Megahorn."
Munna's eyes widened. She had to hit with Hypnosis, or else this will hurt! The deer pawed the ground with his hoof, lime green energy coating his horns before charging. Elvira's eyes pulsated blue and the spot on her forehead sent a cone of lulling energy at the opponent. The Stantler continued to charge...
Only for his forelegs to give out to the sleep, and he fell, just short of hitting Elvira. Sighing, Elvira bounced away and curled up, her body shining once with a bright yellow energy. Then again.
Chance was starting to sweat. "Stantler, wake up!" The Normal-Type stirred, but was having difficulty in staying awake. Elvira shifted from a curled up form, having already done three Defense Curls and she was now doing a Calm Mind, her body shining with blue and green energies.
"Stantler, wake up and use Wild Charge!" Finally, the Normal-Type shifted, weakly standing on all legs, the eyes trying to snap open. His body sparked with electricity, the lightning waking him up completely. He then charged the Munna, who had already completed her second Calm Mind.
"Stored Power." Munna braved the electrical attack, getting hit as her body shone with a bright pink energy. Psychic energy that poured out after she got hit, little dots of pink and blue and yellow flying out with a wave of psychic energy. Upon hitting the Stantler, it sparked into fireworks, the Stantler, being blasted back with the converted force of seven changes.
Thankfully, due to the Light Screen and Stantler's Light Clay it had around its neck, he was able to stand back up, albeit shakily. "Megahorn!"
"Moonlight!" As Elvira prepped to take energy from the cosmos above, the Stantler charged with antlers pointing towards Elvira. He finally hit her, sending her screeching as she fell to the side, her body skidding on the ground. She tried floating back up, but she was having a hard time just standing. She focused on the move Moonlight, feeling a bit better as her body sparkled with latent healing energy.
Then, another Megahorn, the Stantler charging once again. Panicked, Munna sent out a beam of pink psychic energy, the Psybeam hitting the Stantler, but he lunged and smashed his horns into Munna.
The two Pokemon collapsed on the ground. Neither were able to battle.
Returning Munna, Reggie sent out his Shedinja again. Only for Chance to send out his Leafeon. Now, Reggie knew it must have Aerial Ace. Almost every trainer worth their salt would pack a Leafeon with Aerial Ace. The Light Screen from the area vanished, but in came Chance's orders. "Sunny Day." With a happy trill, the Leafeon's body glowed, the clouds parting and the sun's rays hitting the area harsher. The sunlight was causing Leafeon's body to glow.
"So... Possibly Chlorophyll..." Reggie spoke to himself, thinking. "Shedinja, Confuse Ray."
"Swords Dance!" The Leafeon danced about hypnotically, the leaves on her body glowing a fiery red. A physical set. Obviously. Shedinja's confusing lights shot towards the Leafeon, who stumbled a bit on her feet. "Now!"
Much to Reggie's surprise, the Leafeon twirled as she jumped towards the shell, her leaf blade shining a sky blue. "X-Scissor!" Lime green energy cloaked the shell, and his forelegs shot out as an energy form, blocking the Aerial Ace hit with one, then coming around to her side with the other. The Leafeon was hit, and she fell to the side, but she rolled onto her feet, albeit unsteadily, then charged with a messy somersaulting swipe of her tail.
If this Pokemon was this coordinated in a fight while confused, then he'd hate to see what it was like when not confused. "Metal Claw, catch it!" Bob's lime green aura became steely, and the sharp forelegs snatched her tail, but her momentum carried her towards the head of the shell, her head leaf shining. "Follow!" Bob followed her momentum, letting her flip right over him as he let her go. She hit the ground, which aided in getting back some of her bearings. Shaking her head, she got up and growled irritatingly at the shell. Forepaws glowing beige, she began to dig quickly through the ground.
Knowing there were other uses for Dig, Reggie pointed to the middle of the field. "Ready to play reverse whack-a-Leafeon, Bob?" There was a resounding echoing click from within the shell, the Shedinja floating to the middle of the battlefield.
They just had to wait for the Leafeon to resurface, which she did, making other holes around the field before finally popping out of one. "You done?" Reggie asked, smirking. "X-Scissor!" With aggressive clicking, the Shedinja floated towards the Leafeon, then disappeared into one of the holes, coasting through the tunnels. The Leafeon's tail and head leaf shined before she hopped in.
Now, it was a waiting game. Who was going to find who first, and who was going to get the first hit?
Interactions: Ron Towers and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro)
Naka shook her head at Ron when he asked about Bob being a real name. "You don't look like a Bob." When he said his actual name, her eyes widened. Then giggled when he gave her a salute. "Nice to finally get your name, Ron." Now she didn't have to feel weird knowing about it beforehand.
When he said something about country singing though, she snorted. "What? No way..." She scrutinized him as he continued with this tall tale, making her laugh even more. "Uh-huh, riiiiight- H... Horny Taur- Okay, you have to be messing with me." As they finally made it to the bar, Naka looked back to see Flareon obediently walking beside Luz, making sure she could feel where he was at all times.
"Hmm, we should probably take care here." Her voice stopped being so jovial. Already, she didn't like the potential for a larger crowd. Her instincts were trying to ruin her fun, to which she had tried to find anything that wasn't going to spur on her anxiety. Cool posters. Oh, look a drumming set. Oh hey, a Ron looking at the drumming set. Oh, what longing he has in those eyes. She chuckled, then sat down next to Ron, Fluffy pushing a stool closer to Luz's stool and then hopping up to sit next to her to make sure she was okay, his tail resting against her side.
"Sometimes the heavy stuff. I got a damn good liver. Vodka, rum, mead, ale... Hah, mimosas are my favorite. Oooh, now I want one." She chuckled, kicking her legs around the stool as she leaned against the counter. Man, when was the last time she felt this giddy to hang out with someone? "What do you drink, not-a-country-drummer? I know you do alt rock stuff. You practically exude it, also because I hope you do alt rock. That shit's my favorite genre next to metal." Her Flareon let out a sharp chirp, which had Naka deadpanning at him. "Noooooo, I'm not trying it." Her Flareon chirped more insistently.
Naka's cheeks flushed pink. "I ain't singin' nor screamin' anything. Not until I down a mimosa. There better not be karaoke tonight." There was a scoff-chuckle from her Flareon, who then refocused his attention on Luz to make sure she wasn't going anywhere.
Since no one demanded her attention Esther was free to take a second trip to the breakfast bar, plunder enough snacks for all her pokémon, and then find an ATM. The machine spat out $111 crisps and after Esther returned, she and them into Azumi’s hand. Debts repaid!
And would you look at that, Nico had showed up, and with a new pokémon to boot.
Pokédex Entry #511 – Pansage said:
Primary Type: Grass
Secondary Type: N/A
Species Abilities: Gluttony, Overgrow [hidden]
Egg Group: Field
Pansage offers leaves on its head to Pokémon that have low energy. The leaves relieve stress. It's good at finding berries and gathers them from all over. It's kind enough to share them with friends.
Along with Pansear and Panpour, Pansage is one of the first-stage elemental monkeys.
Esther lowered her pokétch, “Neat! Sure you aren’t going heavy on the grass types?”
"Something strong? Karaoke?" a playful smile spread across Ron's lips. "I'll tell you what, I'll answer one of your questions, truthfully from the heart, no limits, if you sing on stage. I'll even be your drummer."
He placed his elbow on the counter and offered her his hand, "We got a deal? Or are you too Torchic for it?" He shrugged and looked at the bartender, "One dark one and a mimosa for my feathery friend here." He looked over at Luz, the Espeon delighted with the soft tail of her companion. "Anything for your Fluffer? I usually just get water for Luz, she's the designated driver."
"I mean, it kinda looks like it, doesn't it? It's not much of a problem though, I'm sure it'll be fine." He replied to Esther when she asked if he was going a bit heavy on the grass-type Pokémon in his team. She was right though, a full team of grass types isn't optimal, but he wasn't one to battle anyway, so it was fine.
Next question was what were they going to do next? Esther and Monty had already defeated Viola yesterday, so what could be their next step?
"So, what'll be next? Esther and Monty recently beat Viola in her gym battle, so where will we be going?" He asked. No shame in asking, right?
July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107
"Muchas gracias, Naka!" Reina called out and waved, taking hold of the reins and watching was Storm began to move a bit more.
The fog began to spread probably for the best, but separating? That's how the chupagogoats caught its victims, alone. There wasn't much they could do to damage the giant Pokemon, but they could at least try to slow it down. "Peque, Supersonic!"
Once again the Swampert announced his presence with a roar, emerging from the waters and shooting a stream of sonic waves at the Blastoise. He wasn't done yet, using his superior force, he swam under Storm and began pushing her forward, helping the trio of water types move quickly towards shore as a group.
"Hey Naka!" Reina called out, unsure where she was because of the mist, "Why don't you throw a Pokeball at it?"
It might not work, but it could buy them a few seconds.
Right now, Esther’s goal was to return Houndour to her home. Afterward, she would...head back to Galar? Stay in Kalos? Do something else? Questions for later.
It was time to face off against the first gym leader...
Well, almost. The average-looking young man had came back from rummaging around on Route 3, fighting all manner of Pokemon and training extensively with his Pokemon. The one Pokemon he didn't expect to be his ace for this week was Rookidee. Which was great, it meant he didn't have to worry too much when going up against Milo. Despite not getting a badge, he was moving up the WCS ranks pretty quickly for a no-badger. Wanting to see if he was good enough to beat Milo, he looked around for an opponent. Honestly, he didn't want to bother with Milo unless he was certain he'd beat his weird booted ass.
Like, come on, what are those shoes? Why was he so kind all the god damn time? It sickened him.
Cole was currently resting against one of those cafes who seemed to have Moomoo Milk everything up the wazoo. It just made Cole sick.
Maybe someone exciting would come by... Then maybe today wouldn't be so boring... He had to train his other four Pokemon, but their attitudes and battling prowess weren't going as well as he'd hoped. They were worse than his Galarian Meowth, and he just caught the damn thing not too long ago.
Ugh, this was stupid.
Naka narrowed her eyes at him, her mouth opening then closing in mock frustration. "Hmph, now you're just being unfair." She was rather curious. Huffing, she rolled her eyes. "Fiiiiine. Only if you're up there with me... And after this mimosa." She grinned greedily at the drink that was slid to her. She elbowed him for calling her "feathered", despite the late reaction. Upon being asked what Fluffy wanted, she softened a bit. "Milk is a treat I give him. Just give him some of that."
Fluffy's ears perked upon hearing milk, and his little tail wagged expectantly.
Naka then looked over at Ron, eyes narrowing. "So... Ever heard of Dream On? I can do it... Just gotta... Drink a bit first..." Her shoulders were hunched, as if trying to appear so small as she sipped her fruity drink.
Then it hit her. "Maaan, this fruity drink be makin' me fruity-licious." She giggled.
Oh boy, it's started.
Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)
As Desmond contemplated the decision he made, fearful as usual, Aldon happened to be by the hot dog stand himself and Gene were at. Somehow this guy had a habit of appearing by him, though Desmond had written that off as the panic making him a bit closed off to anything that had not been his immediate vision.
Aldon then decided to snap a picture of the rapidly spinning Blastoise, and Desmond's confusion and worry shifted to a slight deadpan scowl.
"You know, for a massive angry rogue that could kill us all, you sure are handling this development well..." Desmond mused a bit, during this bit Politoed had been informed of Kricketune of Desmond's idea and hopped back with it over to their trainer as Aldon asked if Desmond intended to go out there which caused Desmond to glance at his team, then the Blastoise as he bit his lip and sighed.
"I've made a number of bad decisions I'll regret on this trip, so what's one more? My Pokemon can't exactly hurt this giant, but my thinking was if I could somehow get Kricketune close enough to use Sing on it I may be able to daze or even put the giant to sleep to aid the others in taking it down." Desmond said as he explained his intentions and plan to Aldon.
Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 1st)
Adrianne flashed a thumbs up as she listened to Reggie speak to the guy, whose name seemed to be Chance. The two seemed to hit it off well enough even with a bit of competitive zeal as they compared rankings and oh boy Adrianne's eyes widened! Bot these guys ranked way higher than her and now she had to be careful on this island, she may accidently challenge someone she had not quite been ready to take on if she was not careful.
Soon they moved to the battle area as Adrianne took her spot to the side, she decieded to let out Ace and Aqua so they'd get a front row seat to this battle as she already assumed a cheerful role.
"Woo! Good luck Reggie you got this!"
Reggie opened up the battle with Bob the Shedninja, as her foe seemed to call out a Stantler as naturally Adrianne used this as a chance to scan the new Pokemon.
Stantler, the Big Horn Pokemon. The curved antlers subtly change the flow of air to create a strange space where reality is distorted.
"You got this Bob show them what you got!" Adrianne called out as Aqua decided to mirror and join in the support. "A-azuril!"
Ace of course kept silent as it was more focused on the action. The Stantler had a tough task given how so many of its moves just would not have worked on the Shedninja, but it mattered not as Chance seemed to adapt a bit and it wasn't helped when Reggie tried a Ghost move on a...Normal Type.
"Uh, n-not the right stuff there." Adrianne said sheepishly, honest mistakes happen tot he best of them. Either way now Bob was out and Elvira was in as Aqua seemed to cheer for her. "A-azu!"
The two Pokemon seemed to be locked in a fierce battle, as they trade blows Adrianne sat on the edge of her literal seat as she looked on, each blow that the Munna connected with caused a cheer only for it to be balanced by a look of wory when the Stantler had struck back. Eventually both of them seemed to fall as the result of the round ended in a draw.
"Wow, this is intense..." Adrianne said to herself as both men returned their Pokemon and prepared to make new selections. As Reggie seemed to send out Bob again while Chance seemed to send out a...
"Oh a Leafon!" Adrianne cried out and quickly pulled her Pokedex to take a scan.
"Leafon, the Verdant Pokemon. Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clear air."
And so the game of chess began, as Shedninja used the holes to avoid and evade, while the Leafon tried to land what would've been a critical X-Scissor. The battle continued to rise as did the stakes as Adrianne bit her lip and just hoped that Reggie would find an opening for Bob to strike as Aqua and even Ace looked on with interest.
Ron Towers, Eterna City, Sinnoh. June 16th.
"Dream On? Aerosmith? Easy, can play it with no hands." Ron took a sip from his beer and felt like laughing at Naka's reaction to her drink. "You can't possibly be feeling the effects of alcohol so early." He said with curiosity, signaling the bartender for some milk and water for the Eeveelutions. "Usually takes me at least six of these."
Ron shrugged and took a long drink. He figured, if she was going to get drunk faster, he needed to drink faster, perfectly balanced, like all things should be. Espeon chirped as she smelled the milk served in a bowl in front of them, automatically going for it and taking sips from the warm beverage. Ron chuckled, pretending he didn't notice.
"Alright, deal is a deal, go ahead, shoot your first question. Before you ask though, I am single, next one." The punk rock enthusiast said with a cocky grin before taking another drink from his beer.
