Okay, it was time for him, Broccoli and Pepper to train for the tournament in Camphrier Town in a few days. Since it was a tournament, that meant that there were most likely a few rounds, and to get the best results, Nico would change up his Pokémon each round. He saw Esther training her Pokémon, while Monty had his Pokémon practice on eachother. Nico wanted a different approach, especially for Broccoli, and that was using their environment to their advantage. Usually, people use flat surfaces and sandy floor for Pokémon Battling, so quick movements to escape or move away from attacks of other Pokémon, Especially ones with extremely devastating attacks.

Starting off with Pepper's training, since the Scovillain line wasn't really known for their speed, Pepper needed to practice his strong hitting techniques, since it'd probably be hit first than get hit for Pepper, and he didn't really have anything to his advantage in movement, so it was vital for Pepper to be able to hit first.

"Okay, Pepper, I'm going to need you to practice your Fire Fang, and Razor Leaf, somewhere that you can't hurt anyone, maybe somewhere around here." Nico didn't ask Pepper to keep training his Flamethrower, due to it being hard to aim, and takes a few moments to charge up, which from what Nico knows, is vital in a Pokémon Battle. Pepper started with using [Fire Fang], where the green head started charging up, as it bit into the air with fangs made with fire. Nico was really proud of it, although it could be improved on.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"I can't believe it..." Reina held the GreatBall in her hand, the Blastoise resting quietly inside. She turned around when she heard Gene talking to her. "Oh Gene! Um, I don't think letting him out now is a good idea. We need to give him time to adjust."

Reina's eyes stayed on the sphere in her hand. As much as she wanted to let the Blastoise out, play and train with it, she couldn't. It was way to strong for someone at her level to handle it, at least for now. The only thing she could think of doing was sending it to the professor back home. She looked up to see people who had helped battle it leaving, getting some rest for now was a great idea.

"Let's go back to the hotel, I need to make a phone call." Reina smiled at Gene and then waved over at Naka, "You coming?"

~Aldon Lazy Header...~

Aldon began to walk away from the shore, ready to return his rented gear. Ready to nap. A visit to the pokecenter. His pokemon certainly deserved a rest. Aldon turned to look at Desmond whom seemed to voice a similar opinion.

"Mhmm... Gotta get plenty of rest of we're waking up bright and early in the morning" Aldon replied to Desmond's comment. He looked over at Skol who was still standing near Gene. Skol began to walk over towards Aldon, cheerfully. He had done his job and he was ready to nap. Letting out a small yawn. Aldon returned Bran and Wunder afterwards. Skol though sleepy, preferred staying out of his pokéball.

Theo Hightower
Thursday, July 20th
His home, somewhere else

Theo stood in the center of his living room, frozen in place. Frozen in disbelief. Frozen in....fear. The book across the room laid open with its leather bound pages bare for the world to see, and rising from said pages were the individual symbols that once lined those pages. Symbols and shapes whose form shifted to that closer to something akin to the English language, with one key difference. Each character seemed to have a single white eye with a jet black pupil. As they rose from the pages the characters all began to sway back and forth, hovering in mid air to the tune only they seemed to be able to hear, the sound of soft chanting slowly, quietly filling the air. “Unnnn knoooown. Unnn Knooown.” Over and over played on repeat for what felt like hours when in reality was moments.

As the minutes ticked by one of the characters took notice of Theo taking notice of them, which in turn caused the other like designed characters to turn to him as well. “What th f” was all the young man was able to barely call out as the Unown descended on him and clung to his form, shaping themselves to fit him and blending their psychic powers together before vanishing from one existence only to reappear in another. There was no bang when the pokemon unleashed their trans-dimensional teleportation. There was no explosion of awesome psychic energy. There wasn't even a poof. They were there, and then they were gone.

Theo Hightower
Thursday, July 20th
Red Rock Isle, Johto

Along the beach just outside of Scarlet City what could only be described as an ink blob in the shape of a human being would wash up on the sandy shore, the Unown that had shaped themselves to the shape of Theo's body slowly peeling away one by one. Each would have felt like a thin layer of skin being peeled off the man's body, or they would have if he had remained conscious. In a time frame smaller than it took all the Symbol Pokemon to attach themselves to Theo they were unattached and vanished again from this existence and on to the next, leaving him laying on his side and curled up in the fetal position not unlike a certain Yamcha. He wasn't sure how long he laid there in the sand and the sun, but he knew it was time to wake up when he felt his hind quarters being firmly pinched by...well, he honestly wasn't sure what by.

Jumping from the fetal position and in one fell swoop knocking the pincher off his behind, Theo would find himself again standing face to face with something that if he weren't seeing it for himself he wouldn't believe: A sun bleached red crab much larger than any other he had ever seen before staring at him and every few seconds clacking his pincers together, a layer of bubbles between what looked like two exposed fangs that were also attached to the lower half of its body. “Easy there...giant...crab thing...You don't want to pinch me...and I don't....that's a lie I do want to kick you for that.” His statement was met with another layer of bubbles being added to the crab's form, the pincers pincing even more rapidly. In a blur of motion of black and blue fur yet another creature would dart between the unsuspecting human's legs, this new addition to the fray outlining itself with blue electricity as it rammed itself face first in to the crab with enough force to cause the crab to topple over.

The sight was enough to make the hairs on the back of Theo's neck stand on end, though this he wasn't sure was happening out of more fear he didn't know he could feel, or the static electricity still enveloping the small black and blue puppy. As it turned to face Theo the pup's expression softened, the electricity diffusing itself at the same time as the pup spoke a single word. “Shinx!!” it cried, bounding towards a freaked out Theo. With an understandable cry of fear Theo turned tail and, as any sane person in this situation would, fled the electric pup in an attempt to save his own hide. The Shinx, not realizing Theo was afraid and instead thought they were now going to play a game gave chase, bounding happily after the human whose life he had just saved.

Milo

Date: August 2
Location: Turffield Stadium, Turffield, Galar
Pokemon Team: Lombre, Eldegoss

Battling: Wilford Pine and Thwackey (sSoul) vs Eldegoss
Field: N/A

The Lombre used Teeter Dance to attempt the dodge, but he wasn't able to. Maybe I was going too easy, Milo thought as he watched the Lombre get beat around by the Beat Pokemon. The Lombre couldn't take anymore of the hits, and landed on his back, tired. He returned his Pokemon while the referee yelled that Lombre was unable to battle, and that Thwackey won the bout.

"Nice one. I can tell you trained your Pokemon well. Let's go, Eldegoss!" He threw out his next Pokemon, the cotton puffball cooing. She looked way thicker than most Eldegoss, hinting at her defensive nature.

Instead of returning his Pokemon, he waited to see if Wilford will continue to use Thwackey or change Pokemon. "You gonna switch it up or continue?" He called out, waiting for Wilford's move.

Nakano Saito

Date: July 19 (26yo)
Location: Yellow Rock Beach -> Pokemon Center, Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Archipelago, Johto
Pokemon Team: Mudster the Swampert, Iwa the Wishiwashi, Aero the Aerodactyl, Hattie the Hatterene, Silenus the Sceptile, Yuki the Froslass, Tochi the Parasect

Interactions: Desmond (Godjacob), Aldon (ThAtGuY101), Reina (Hecotoro), Gene (Quantum Lila), Rick (Ridge), Eveline (Quantum Lila)
Mentions: Esther (kyuukestu)

Naka looked over at Aldon as he said something about having dove somewhere. Judging by his job occupation he said earlier, Naka wondered what places he had been to, and if he knew Ezio. She smiled as Aldon seemed interested in the blood sample, brandishing the thick, dark red liquid in the triple casing before grabbing her offered backpack from her Aerodactyl, who had the strap hanging from his bottom jaw. "Thanks, bud." Slipping it inside the front pocket, she began to undress from the diving suit, getting in just her swimsuit and pulling out a towel before throwing the diving suit in the rental diving backpacks. She even grabbed a non-stick solution from her backpack and sprayed it on the Wingull, allowing them to be free from the paraglider.

"Yup! I check DNA not only for their genetics, but what kind of impact they'd have on the environment and get an understanding of their core behavioral traits. I basically just take what Blaine and Birch does with some psychology and behavioral analyses thrown in. But because of how old it is, I can get a read of how old it is and understand the time period it lived in. Though, that takes a lot of research, you won't be able to get it all from DNA from just looking at it."

She saw Desmond having laid down, and then not getting up for a while. She took this time to gather up all the rental supplies and even the paraglider, putting them on her Aerodactyl and then sending out her Swampert to carry the rest. She noticed Rick having fallen into the water and she chuckled, hoping he was okay. She sent out her Wishiwashi anyway, the fish becoming her school form self as she swam over to Rick to help him and his Rapidash out of the water by giving them a solid surface of amalgamated fish bodies to ride on.

After Eveline and Esther left (with Esther having been saved by a Milotic), she took notice of Reina and Gene. Chuckling at Gene's want to give the Blastoise a hot dog, she walked over to the two girls. She waved at Desmond and Aldon as she did so, speaking to them. "Hope you have a good day of relaxation tomorrow. Oh, and Aldon, tomorrow I want to speak to you about someone you might know." She grinned wide, before posting herself beside Gene and Reina, walking with them. "Haha, yeah, that Blastoise is going to be really upset with us if it comes out of there. It's gonna take a more one-on-one battle instead of a full gaggle of people to earn his trust and respect."

She turned back to see if her Wishiwashi had aided Rick and his Rapidash, returning her once she did the job. Her Aerodactyl and Swampert walked behind her, carrying the paraglider and the thirteen diver's equipment they nabbed from everyone. "I'll be going with you, just gotta make a few stops. Gotta give back this rental equipment, then go to the Pokemon Center, then go to the hotel rooms."

Then, she realized something. "Hey, didn't you get only two rooms from the hotel? We're gonna be cramped." Naka laughed.

After dropping off the equipment, Naka found herself in the Pokemon Center not long after, returning her Pokemon to the nurse. She noticed Eveline was sitting by herself, staring at a photo. With an apologetic smile, she called out to her. "Yo, you okay?" She waved.

Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous, Silenus the Sceptile, Mudster the Swampert

Battling: Akira and Mamoswine [Covert Cloak] vs Furia the Hisuian Typhlosion (Hecotoro)
Stats: Mamoswine = +1 Atk, +1 Def, +1 Sp. Atk, +1 Sp. Def, +1 Spe

Naka watched with an impressed look on her face as Furia's flames turned blue and pushed the oncoming stone with her flames. Huh, interesting.

Was this all to impress Naka or to show she doesn't need her? That's funny if it were either. Naka watched as she saw the Mamoswine's body lift up. "It's going to use Earthquake again! Flamethrower the ground to fly, then the Mamoswine!" Before the stone slammed back at him, the Mamoswine slammed his forelegs into the ground, sending waves of rolling earth outwards, shattering his rocky prison and sending the molten and non-molten rock outward in a similar move as Self-Destruct, just without the Pokemon fainting.

Date: June 2
Location: Tangelo Island Beach, Orange Archipelago
Pokemon Team: Emeric the Shiny Haunter, Elvira the Munna, Bob the Shedinja, Large Marge the Drifloon, Missy the Misdreavus
WCS Rank: 69,989

Interactions: Adrianne Silvers (Godjacob), Briar Hightower (ThAtGuY101)

The Basculin didn't like the intrusion, especially when they caught one of their own despite the differing colors. This was something that even the bickering reds and blues were going to fight together on. They had partially ignored the Frillish attacking the human, thinking the Frillish was just going to handle it his way while they dealt with the new human that chased after them. Many Basculin encircled Briar, before several came in with Aqua Jet, Headbutt, Crunch, and Take Down. All manner of strong or quick physical attacks to show her and her poison lemur what for!

Meanwhile, Emeric had created an opening with Shadow Ball to get through the cloud of Basculin, but they then started to come at the Haunter, using Crunch and Aqua Jet to slam into him. The Haunter cried out in pain as the hits connected, but he powered through and jetted himself and his human to where Briar was. He looked at the human pleadingly, a panicked frown on his face as his trainer suddenly went limp in his disembodied hands.

Furia Towers, The Empress of Tomorrow, June 19th, somewhere snowy.

"Great, she's gonna think it was her idea again." Furia growled in annoyance.

As the Mamoswine destroyed the prison he had created for himself and sent a powerful ground impact towards her, Furia jumped in the air and shot a Flamethrower downwards, propelling her into the air with plenty of hang time. She looked down at her opponent, this was the second battle she had been placed in the same position and both involved the blonde girl.

"Die!" Furia cried out as her Blaze increased the heat of her flames, turning them into a bright blue.

Furia's flamethrower rained down on the battlefield field, ignited the entire area into a sea of bright blue fire. She even noticed Ron moving quickly to Naka's side and pulling her away from the fire. The heat was so intense, the snow around them began to melt and the ground was being burned with scorch marks. The impact of the flames allowed Furia to fall down slower, until she closed her mouth. She landed on her four legs, breathing heavily and looking around at the destruction she had just caused.

The flaming badger stood on her two back legs and let out a loud roar at the sky. She was letting anyone or anything else around them know of her strength and destructive power, in case anyone else dared step in her way.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline

Eveline looked up from the picture to see Nakano entering the Pokémon Center. Makes sense, she also had gone through the wringer. She reluctantly gestured for her to come and take a seat next to her. She put her wallet away, keeping the picture out.

"Could be worse. A giant water blast isn't the hardest hit I've taken lately. If I had a nickel for every time I've been in an accident with an explosion, I'd have two nickels, but the fact that there's two is very concerning."

She put the picture down on the table. The picture of her and her Pokémon was clearly from a while ago, Eveline looked so... sweet? Innocent? That definitely wasn't who she was now, much more colorful clothing as well. A lot of Pokémon there as well that Eveline had never mentioned... an Impidimp and Inkay were poking at a Spiritomb, the Spiritomb clearly annoyed. An Alolan Meowth sat on the ground next to Eveline's foot, while a Houndour did the same at the opposite foot, and a Pawniard stood stalwart up front and center while a Murkrow was perched on her head. A Corphish, Qwilfish, and Carvanha waded in a small pond, splashing away as an Alolan Grimer and a Sandile proceeded to run from said splashing. Finally, a Cacnea laid on the ground, sunbathing, and a Deino was being held in Eveline's arms.

"...You ever get that feeling of homesickness, even though you know no matter how hard you want to go back, you can't? As much as I want to see all of my babies again... I can't. Unless you have some sort of way to go forward 15 years in the future..."

As soon as she said that, she realized she fucked up. Shit, she made herself vulnerable, and now look what happened, all she could hope for has that Nakano took it as a joke, but judging by what she was like, she seriously doubted that would be the case.

The crazy adventures of Reina and her amazing friends.

"Come one Gene, let's get to the Pokemon Center." No way was she going to talk about her lack of investment when booking the rooms.

Upon arrival to the Pokemon Center, Reina had her tired team healed. She kept the Balstoise in the PC, until she figured out what to do with him. The entire day had been a roller coaster of emotions and suddenly being a tranquil place had Reina feeling a bit impatient. She hadn't burned enough energy yet, probably the excitement of the upcoming tournament. Which surged her next issue, Chente.

Reina released the Lombre outside the Pokemon Center, sitting at a bench and looking at him, Water Stone in hand. The Lombre, like always, had a carefree expression on him, waiting for Reina's instructions.

"Would two days be enough time, for you to get used to your new evolution?" The young trainer asked her Pokemon, who didn't seem to know the answer. "The extra power could help us out, but the lack of balance could back fire..." Reina pouted as her mind tried to make the final decision.

She had seen Naka's Ludicolo. It was a great Pokemon and Chente would be one also, but she couldn't just expect him to be in perfect shape to battle right away. Peque's evolution had given him a great power up that helped them win the tournament, but he had been preparing to evolve beforehand. She remembered the chunky Marshtomp walking on his four limbs, gaining weight and moving around like his evolution. Chente hadn't done any of that.

"Chente, I can't decide..." Reina sighed.

Upon seeing his trainers frustration, the Lombre placed his hand over Reina's, causing the Water Stone to react. A bring glow enveloped the two, Chente and the stone. Reina's green eyes lit up with joy as her Pokemon began to grow in size, quite a lot actually. Almost as tall as she was. Not only that, but he seemed to grow wider also. The glowing was so strong, Reina shielded her eyes, covering them with one hand while the other held the stone.

Once the glowing stop, she quickly looked at her Ludicolo. Unlike the typical water and grass Pokemon, her Ludicolo seemed to have a darker green sombrero, hands and feet. His yellow fur was bright though and his eyes sported a relaxed and chilled expression, which was usual of Chente.

"That is so killing!" Reina cried out loud, trying to imitate a local phrase she had heard. "Chente look at you!"

The newly evolved Pokemon looked at his hands, his body and then at Reina. His trainer had stood up and he couldn't help but feel taller. Then a sudden flow of energy was tingling Chente, making him shiver and shake his body.

"Are you okay?" Reina looked concerned as the Pokemon gritted his teeth and began to shake.

Chente couldn't hold it in anymore, the feeling was too powerful, he needed to, to.... TO DANCE!

The Ludicolo broke into a fast moving dance, jumping and shaking his body from side to side. As he danced around Reina, he stopped in front of her and looked at her with eager eyes. Reina looked confused at first, but then smiled at her Ludicolo.

"Baila! Baila ESTA cumbia, ritmo, ritmo sin igual!" Reina began to sing, taking Chente's hands and dancing with him.

Aldon looked to Naka and listened to her explain what she wanted to use the DNA for. It was just as he expected to hear. He smiled and nodded as she spoke. The others looked just as exhausted as he did, but Aldon was going to wait to get back to the motel to pass out.

"Someone I know?" Aldon said puzzled. Was she talking about Nurse Joy? Officer Jenny? She couldn't have been talking about his father, could she? His father was a relatively well known paleontologist, but he doubted that. He smiled and nodded. He'd have to wait and find out who she meant.

"Slo...!" Skol mused. Aldon looked over at Skol, then heard Naka again, laughing about how the cramped motel condition would be. Aldon chuckled as well. He didn't think much of it. If he needed to, he was fine with sleeping on the couch or on the floor if it was that bad. He'd probably curl up inder the table or on his cot since he had one.

Briar had her hand on Puff Puff's pokéball and cent out her fairy Pokémon to save the day. Using smoke screen before having Baba and Puff Puff try knock off some of the pursuing Pokémon. Baba using poison jab and Puff Puff using sludge bomb. There was much pollution going on. Luckily Puff Puff was great as removing that. While her two Pokémon were dealing with the red and blue threat, Briar began swimming towards Reggie. She waved at him to see if he was okay. To her, it seemed like the boy needed help. She reached in behind him, grabbing him by the waist, and swimming upwards.

She looked back to see her Pokémon. By this point, it was a free for all. Various Pokémon were attacking each other. Baba was riding on the back of a bascullin, pulling on the fish's snout and biting it's dorsal fin. Puff Puff just smacked a bascullin with her sludge bomb. Meanwhile on land, Maggie was listening to Adrianne talking. Then a staryu appeared. She watched the girl fight the star Pokémon. Silently judging her, from her method of catching Pokémon to her overall behavior towards the Pokémon. The poisonous jelly looked down, and sunk lower in the water. Just enough to Adrianne a little wet. Maggie reached down with her tentacles to grab Briar, and rose up again. Briar tossed Reggie atop Maggie's back then pulled herself up. Briar gave Reggie a friendly light slap.

"Wake up, sugar! you still with us? I don't know cpr, but there's a first time for everything. Oh hey Hun. Stay with us! Don't go to the light" Briar spoke to Reggie before briefly looking up at Adrianne before turning her attention back to Reggie. She hadn't noticed the staryu the girl was trying to catch yet. Baba shook the water out of her fur, and aimed it for Reggie. Briar returned Puff Puff to her pokéball.

Moments after the fall, Iris started pedaling back to shore. She would have quite a bit of swimming to do, as they weren't nearly as close to shore as when they fell the first time. But, slowly and steady, they would get there... eventualy. Rick's only concern at the moment was that a Water-type would decide to investigate what the hell was a Fire-type doing in that environment. Fortunately, the rampage of a Gyarados and a giant Blastoise caused a lot of the pokémon that could be an annoyance to run away.

"Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, ju... have you considered learning Surf? It might come in handy in the future..." Rick commented. Then, the water below them started bubbling. Never a good sign unless you're in a jacuzzi. And judging by their streak of bad luck this day, Rick started fearing the worse. "Aff... alright, what's next? Lugia?" He said, crossing his arms. Then the water started rippling as a school of wishiwashi formed below them, giving Iris something to stand on. The mare wasted no time and made a long jump into the beach before the school decided to scatter. "Huh... something good for a change..." Rick muttered, before being shaken up as Iris shook the water off her coat. "Hey, do that when I'm not sitting on you!" He exclaimed.

Rick took a look around. Seemed like the group that was dealing with the Blastoise had already left. And, with that, the chances of him asking a trip on the boat. Rick sighed. "Alright, plan B!" He rode headed towards the nearest Pokémon Center where he could make a call to Chris. "Alright! You wait here, this shouldn't take long." Rick said to Iris, before getting in and rushing to the PC. Chris showed up on the screen, and Rick was pretty straightforward. "Chris? Listen, can you come to Whirl Islands to pick me up?" He asked.

Chris rolled his eyes. "That doesn't make sense. Why do you need me to pick you up when you pretty much have a jet now?" He questioned. Rick sighed. "Well, because that jet ran out of fuel... twice." He said. "In fact, that's the reason we ended up in these islands in the first place. We crashed." He added.

Chris rubbed his face, sighing and groaning, before replying. "It takes three days to get there! I can't risk leaving the lab for that long while the meteonite is being constantly monitored. Besides, you know how dangerous those waters are. Lugia guards those islands." He said. "I can get Pearl's pokéball and put it on the storage system so you can withdraw her. I can't tell you when, since you left her at your home, but that's the best I can do." He added.

Rick sighed. "That will do, I guess. Anyways! Bye-byes!" He said, waving at Chris. The scientist returned the gesture, though also shaking his head, before turning off the call. Rick stretched back on the chair, taking a deep breath. "Well... hopefuly there's at least something to keep me busy in the meantime... probably start by drying these clothes!"

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

"Aqua use Tail Whip!"

"A-azu!"

Adrianne had been locked in her own intense battle, the Staryu was tough and Aqua of course had been sheepish for this battle. Still she had little options, given they had been fighting in the sea she needed a Pokemon that'd be able to swim as Ace was a sitting duck if he got knocked in the water. The good news was Aqua seemed to be a little more sure of herself this time, and despite the sudden challenge had dove to the water and used a Tail Whip which seemed to stun Staryu and lower its defense a bit.

Course, her attention shifted Briar and Reggie as the former dragged the latter on the Tentacruel as Reggie seemed to pass out, or fall asleep but either way she looked concerned. "H-hey are you guys okay!?" Adrianne asked with concern.

"Star!" The Staryu cried before it charged with Rapid Spin and slammed its spinning frame into Aqua. Aqua cried out in pain and sailed back in the water as Adrianne's attention shifted back to the fight.

"Aqua! D-damn it why all this at once...Water Gun!" Adrianne called out as Aqua shook her head and fired a water blast but Staryu dove underwater and avoided it. Adrianne bit her lip, she had worried about Reggie and clearly could not focus on the fight and concern for him at once, she needed to think of something...

Naka watched as Reina left the Pokemon Center. Naka's Pokemon didn't need too much healing, so she was able to swap out some Pokemon after getting them back relatively quickly. That's when she noticed Eveline wanting her to come over to her. Surprised, she walked over, sitting beside her and listening to her. She looked at the picture, and a soft expression graced her features despite the hard scar down her face and neck. "Hmph, you're made of strong stuff. I'm just glad you're alive." She did give a little chuckle at her nickel comment.

She was so happy back then... Those Pokemon obviously loved her dearly, and it was obvious she was mostly a Dark-Type user. That's when she noticed... A Hisuian Qwilfish. Her eyes widened. But before she could even speak on the matter, Eveline began talking about her feelings. She listened, then said something odd. She tilted her head in confusion, noting the panicked look on her face. Did she not mean to say that? Did she not want anyone to know? Considering Ultra Wormholes were a thing and there were documented evidence of spatial-temporal distortions back then in Hisui, it wasn't out of the norm of the crazy things that had happened in this world. Hell, there were even legends and myths of Pokemon controlling time or popping between timelines.

She smiled, chuckling a little. "Hey, hey, it's okay." She kept her voice low, smiling. "It's fine, there's crazy things happening in this world. From portals to Ultra Space to legends and myths of Pokemon controlling time and popping into different timelines, it's not too terribly unheard of. But yes, I do understand, even if it's a bit more small scale than what you're going through. How did you get here?" Then, she decided to give this girl an out and smiled upon seeing the picture again. "Oh, and how did you get your Overqwil? I've never seen a Hisuian Qwilfish or its evolution in this day and age anymore. I didn't think they'd be available in the future, either." Although, she was smart enough to not ask about any events in the future. They may not either happen as intended or will cause an even worse situation if she tried to change it.

That's when she noticed Rick having called someone nearby and needed a ride from someone. Huh? She didn't know who this Chris was nor was she able to hear most of what he was saying, but she was willing to help. She looked back at Eveline and held up a finger. "Sorry, hold up for a small second." She looked over at Rick and spoke to him. "Yo, I can help you. Give me a moment though, okay? Meet me outside of the PokeCenter." She then turned to Eveline to continue their conversation. "Alrighty, I'm listening now. Well, I always am, haha."

Before she even had a chance to stop it though, her Ludicolo busted out of his PokeBall. Letting the Water/Grass-Type jive, she sighed and went back to what Eveline was doing, the Ludicolo feeling the call of another dancer. He skipped out of the Pokemon Center and found Reina and her own Ludicolo. Ludwig bowed, then cheered and clapped and danced with a jovial look on his face, twirling and skipping about around Reina and Chente. Hell, he was even giving pointers, as it was a little obvious Chente just evolved.

Battling: Akira and Mamoswine [Covert Cloak] vs Furia the Hisuian Typhlosion (Hecotoro)
Stats: Mamoswine = +1 Atk, +1 Def, +1 Sp. Atk, +1 Sp. Def, +1 Spe

Naka can tell Furia was getting frustrated again, but she was just making commands she knew Furia had done before. She can tease her on that either.

The Mamoswine looked up and growled, slamming his forelegs into the earth again. This time, a ring of sharp boulders shot up from around him, coming in like a Stone Edge halo. They did take a brunt of the damage, but the Mamoswine had to jump away and then cover himself with rock to block the rest of the fire. It was starting to get too hot however, and he was starting to get on his last legs. Dizzy from the heat, the rocks broke off from his body and shot forward in Stone Edge. However, the heat suddenly hit him, and he fell on his front knee, panting. He struggled to stay standing and not give up, but even Akira saw that Furia had won and didn't want to push it any further.

But he wanted to see if Furia would dodge and attack now that her gloating might get interrupted.

Reggie's body had fallen limp, and they were working on little time now. Emeric waited until the horde of Pokemon thinned out more before retreating upwards. He felt Briar grab hold of Reggie, and he let her help as they finally got to the Tentacruel.

Setting Reggie on the Tentacruel, Emeric watched as Briar tried waking him up. Shaking his head, he turned his body so his face was facing downwards, head to the side. He then slapped his back and Reggie came spluttering back, coughing and hacking out the water that had entered his lungs. His arms went to push himself up and he sat up, rubbing his head. He had a massive migraine. "Thanks... Ow..." He coughed and looked over at Adrianne struggling. He yelled at her, despite his voice being hoarse. "I'm fine, focus on catching that Staryu!" He coughed a little and patted himself to check for any missing items. Thankfully, he had everything, including his two new additions.

"All that trouble just to get these two? Damn, I need to be more careful." Reggie sighed, with Emeric glumly looking at him with some mild amount of disappointment.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline

Eveline glanced to the side at Naka, being quite relieved that she wasn't blown away by this. She took the opportunity to put away the picture again, then sighed again at the prospect of explaining time travel shenanigans.

"Well... in the future, over in Oblivia, I have a few friends, including Professor Hastings. He had some experimental tech he wanted to see if I could try for him, some sort of portable Pokémon healing machine. Since I'm on the road a lot, biker and all that jazz... well, it sounded nice to have. So he hooked it up to my bike, and well... I didn't see where he put it... may not know it, but I'm blind in one eye, turns out he connected it to the gas tank, thought that the gas would help fuel it but surprise surprise, combining and electric motor with a gas motor doesn't work. And clearly, he decided to use some pretty advanced tech, because next thing you know, wormhole. Opened and closed, just like that, taking me and my bike with it. Unfortunately, while me and my bike made it through, that's where I earned my second nickel. So, Hastings of this time is fixing up my bike because he feels sorry, I guess, and I'm stranded here... as for Ruination, kinda just found an egg on the beaches of Sinnoh one year. Dunno, maybe one of those space things happened there too? All I knew is when that Qwilfish came out, it wasn't normal."

She would sigh again, clearly a little pissed after telling that story.

"So yeah. Now I'm 15 years in the past, and apart from the ones I brought with me, all of my Pokémon are stuck in the future. Only thing is, due to the company I'm with right now... it's a much... much bigger issue... but, I'm broke right now, wasn't expecting to see the people here, and was planning on using Disorder, Conquest, and Ruination in the Whirl Cup, but... they specify Water types. And I don't want to catch Pokémon in this time because... y'know... what would happen if I brought ones from the past to the future? I don't want that on my conscience. We also don't have enough to go around... wish I could find a modeling gig this day and age, wouldn't be here in the first place... just, don't say anything about this? People would get freaked out."

Aldon saw the others head to the pokécenter and decided to head there as well. His pokémon could use a good rest. There was no denying that. He headed there as well. Spoke to nurse joy, they got healed up. Even Skol. He decided to sit down by one of the tables. He grabbed the newspaper and began to make clearing throat noises as he read the newspaper. Though truth be told, he was just reading the funnies section.

Briar would need to work quick if she was going to help this boy. She heard Adrianne voice her concern.

"Yyyyeeeeaaahhh... Totally!" Briar said reluctantly. She looked back at Reggie, then at the staryu that had attacked Adrianne.

"Oh wow. Looks like you got your hands full here too" Briar said. Eventually Reggie was awake. She nodded as Reggie woke up and thanked her. It was uncertain who looked at Reggie with more disappointment. Her blue tongued haunter or Briar's spiteful little blue tongued monkey. Either way, Briar was just happy to know she was fine. In the meantime, she'd watch to see if Adrianne could catch the pokémon. Maggie watched the battle, continuing to silently judge the battler.

BIC:
While everyone had gathered up into the hotel, the poor researcher just couldn't handle sleeping that night. She was restless for the tournament. She had to get her Pokemon ready. Bidding everyone farewell, she left for Red Rock Isle, using her Swampert and Wishiwashi as surfing mounts to give them some exercise, while her Ludicolo swam beside them until he was too tired to swim the distance. They took a few breaks on the little tiny islands that were basically just tiny beaches, until she finally made it to Scarlet City's beach.

By that point, it was around noon. She just arrived and had returned her tired Pokemon, and that's when she heard a scream. Looking over, she saw a man running away from a Shinx. He seemed more terrified of Pokemon than Desmond was. Either he was really traumatized, or he wasn't used to them. Which... The latter must be impossible, unless he grew up in a sheltered home life away from Pokemon. But how did he get here? He was utterly covered in sand, like he washed up here. Was he okay?

She yelled out, throwing him an empty PokeBall, the metal surface glinting in the light. "Here, use this on that kitten!" Maybe if he heard it as something small and cute, he won't be terrified of it, completely not knowing he didn't know what a Shinx was even called.

Furia Towers, The Empress of Tomorrow, June 19th, somewhere snowy

Who would've thought the Mamoswine had one last move in him. The bullet like stones shot out of nowhere and several impacted into Furia, making her take a few steps back as the rocks exploded upon contact with her body. Furia's right arm dropped, as if she had no strength to lift it anymore. Her legs trembled while the fire from her mane and around the field vanished with a loud sigh from the badger. As if someone had turned off Furia's intense battle spirit.

"Fuck you." Furia let out a growl as she fell forward landing with a loud thud, on the ground. She bared her fangs at her enemy before slowly losing conscious.

Ron Towers -

"Whoa, that was pretty hot." Ron told Naka as he stood next to her, "and I'm not talking about the battle." He shot her a quick smile.

Ron took out Furia's old rusty PokeBall and aimed it at the fainted fire type. "You'll get em next time girl, he got lucky." The red beam shot out of the sphere, covered the Typhlosion up and transformed her into pure energy that returned into the PokeBall. "That's two times you pushed her to her limits, Naka. Are you going to make a habit of this?"

The fire garden Naka was pulled away from amazed her. Such raw strength... But barely any finesse.

The Mamoswine finally slumped over the same time Furia did, giving the badger a smug smile. He beat her, that was funny. He was pulled back into Akira's PokeBall as Furia was pulled into hers.

Naka giggled as Ron flirted with her again, cheeks turning pink. The heat of the battle was making her wish her sweater was off. Ron's flirts were making her wish he did it. It was really twice she got pushed to her limits? Naka chuckled, shrugging. "If she wants to get stronger, then she must have some finesse to back up that power. So, yes. I will be pushing her to her limits. It's the only thing I can do, since she's upset she evolved in the first place." She then gave him a cocky grin.

Looking back out at the scorched land, she chuckled. "Man, it got hot though. Making me want to undress." She then looked back at Ron, flashing a cocky grin. "Of course, I won't be the one doing that~."

"Okay, get a room, you two! Oh, you already got one." Akira laughed, having came back and entered through the door to heal up his Pokemon and sit in the lobby. The two Pokemon - assumedly were Akira's - had made their ways back into the back of the lodge. Naka went to hold Ron's hand to drag him towards the lodge.

"So, anything else?" She asked, amidst trying to drag him into the lodge.

Ron Towers

"Anything else?" Ron raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by Naka's personality. "Well the offer to remove your clothes sounds tempting to be honest."

Ron let himself be pulled back into the cabin, taking off his jacket once inside. "Before we get to the good stuff though... I need to know how long have trainers stopped coming here? If we're following a tip regarding Team Rocket, either they beat the trainers away or got them to join their numbers, maybe both." Ron's expression turned serious as he sat down at the bar. "I also need to know, why hasn't such odd activity been reported to the authorities?" It was clear Ron was suspicious of Akira and his sister.

With such a strong Pokemon at their side, Team Rocket would've kept their distance. But sooner or later they would've gone after such a prize Pokemon. Therefore, Ron refused to believe they just got lucky and avoided the evil team while other trainers were chased away or forced to join them.

Oh, be still, my beating heart. Lest my face resembles a Tamato Berry.

Naka watched as Ron went from playful to serious and she followed him to the bar to sit beside him. The sister came and went to give them an alcohol menu, but upon hearing Ron's grievances about them, she sighed. Naka looked over at Akira's sister, who she realized she never introduced Ron to by name.

"Oh, I forgot. Her name's Hina."

At being introduced by name, Hina bowed, her Sinnohan accent thick. "I apologize if we come across as suspicious. We'll give you all the details we know. It's not uncommon to have waves of trainers come in all at once or barely have any, even during the gym season. It's rare, but it's not unheard of. Normally, we start experiencing an insurgence of trainers during the tail end of the gym season because most people like to take on Candice third to last. However, normally there would be more trainers here. Aside from yourselves, we only have four other occupants. I do agree that this small surge of trainers feels strange. However, all I know is that this is recent. A few days ago, the trainers left. I don't know from what. I originally thought it would be the wild Pokemon, but Akira told me it wasn't that. In fact, they found arrows."

Bending to disappear behind the counter, she came back and offered up three arrows. The shafts were wooden, the tips were made of a stiff and sharp feathers that were of an autumn color, and there were pale grey fletching on the back end of the arrows. Naka grabbed one and immediately began inspecting it with her hands, her fingers trailing over the sharp edge and feeling its sturdiness.

Meanwhile, Hina continued. "I don't know what kind of Pokemon would utilize arrows in this snowy region."

Naka immediately spoke. "It's a Decidueye's. But the color's not right. So this means that a trainer did this." She looked back at Hina. "I'm assuming you already called the authorities?"

Hina nodded. "We called the Snowpoint authorities. They searched, but couldn't find anything. It's common for the blizzards to cover up tracks and the wind to blow away scents. If you don't want to be found, going to Route 217 is the best place to hide, given you can brave the weather without suffering from hypothermia."

"Is it possible they've been bribed or the police have been compromised?" Naka asked.

Hina just stood there blankly. "Bribed? The police? Oh Arceus, I hope not." She hugged herself, her brow furrowed in surprise and concern. Naka saw and shook her head.

"Sorry, just have seen it happen in Kanto." Sighing, Naka looked back at Ron. "Looks like there's some sneaky Team Rocket members. Probably led by someone competent this time. If they started on the move a few days ago... That's weird... We just arrived in Eterna City that time..." Her skin went cold and pale. "... Were they following me...?" She looked back at the arrow, her leg bouncing from anxiety.

Hina decided to continue to help give something else to chew on. "I don't think they wanted to be found. Circumstantial evidence is hard if you can't prove you've seen them. If there is no proof of such nor can you definitively say you've seen them, the police don't really look too wholeheartedly. They have other duties in Snowpoint to attend to, and going on multiple searches with search parties in a very hostile environment can drain resources, cause potential injury, and drain their energy. As well as their patience. I feel like if I keep calling them for a possible theory or sighting of Team Rocket but find nothing, they won't answer the next time we have an issue..." She bowed her head, eyes misting up from grief.

Naka set down the arrow and sighed. "It's okay. I understand. So, there won't be any reason for them to steal Akira's Pokemon?"

"Oh? If they work on old tenants, I hoped they would so we can find them easier and have some detail to give to the police. But I think they're smarter than that."

"So, whoever is commanding them is looking for something specific and won't let them fall back on old habits... This is concerning..." Naka groaned. "How busy are the police in Snowpoint?"

"Recently, there have been machine noises around Lake Acuity. Unfortunately, we don't have any other news. The machine noises someone reported had them thinking it was a large tank or a moving building on treads. But when the police went to search, they came back with nothing. There weren't even any prints of whatever found its way there. It's like... It just appeared there one day." Hina's voice went quiet.

"Well, it must have arrived there from somewhere. I found a news article a couple days ago of police having found some tracks that led up Mt. Coronet and onto Route 217. You guys never heard of anything else yourselves?"

Hina shook her head, silent.

"No other news besides that?"

Hina shook her head again. Then, she paused. "Well, all I know is that the police have their hands full with odd goings on in Snowpoint, but it's like... Your average delinquent thug or thief."

Naka sighed. "At least that's something. Also, these arrows. Thanks for helping however much you can."

Hina nodded, a small smile on her face.

"Now, I want sake." Naka chuckled, offering her money.

"No no, please don't." She scooted the money back to her. "It's on the house. When you do leave, I wish you safe travels up Route 217. Hopefully, you have more luck scaring them off our route so we can have our business back."

Naka chuckled, then looked over at Ron to see if he was still wondering about Hina and Akira's innocence. "Anything else on your mind?"

Ron Towers

Ron rested his head on his hand as he listed to Hina talk. The arrows were an interesting clue. But if Team Rocket was recruiting grunts, asking to meet at such a dangerous place that even the police would think twice of scouting, made his suspicion linger in his mind. Still, the information felt concrete and sincere. He would have to go with what Hina had informed them. The last thing he wanted was to risk Gwen and Naka sleeping outside because of his big mouth.

"I'm good." Ron raised one finger, "I'll take a whiskey." He looked at the window.

Even if they were in a safe place, whatever was in Route 217 had him feeling on edge. He looked back at Naka and sighed. "Gonna take my whiskey and head to the room." He stood up and chugged his whiskey like if it was pure water, "I'll wait for ya."

Ron left the empty glass on the counter and thanked Hina with a nod, before making his way back to his room.

Hina visibly relaxed once she passed Ron's scrutiny, but she was now worried about something else. Likely Team Rocket. She gave Ron his whiskey, chuckling as he downed it before retreating back for the room. Naka smiled and nodded after Ron, but waited as she took a few shots of sake. She looked at the arrows, a question sat at her lips. She touched the arrows again, and felt something about them tickle the ends of her fingertips.

"May I keep these?"

"Yes, please. We have no need of these here." Naka nodded at Hina's excited answer to get rid of them, taking all three and left after having downed her fourth sake shot. Feeling the comfort of the warm buzz, she sat the arrows next to her bag once she got into their room and closed the door behind her, and chuckled.

"Alright, hot stuff. Let's see if we can get as hot as those blue flames, hm?" She playfully said, getting ready for a fun night ahead of them.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"Oh you're Naka's Ludicolo!" Reina said as Chente guided her into a twirl. "You're a dance too huh?"

Reina grabbed the Ludicolo's handed while still holding Chente with the other, dancing with both Pokemon at the same time. If she was told earlier that day that she would start a dancing party in the middle of town, she would've believed because that's a common thing back in her region. So, children started to join in, then adults and finally teenagers. Reina didn't even notice when the boombox started sounding and she had stopped singing herself. The place had become very lively and quickly, both Chente and his trainer celebrating his new evolution.

It was true. At first glance the sight of Theo running from his Shinx could be construed at them playing a game of tag or something along those lines. It was the uniform scream coming from Theo that gave away this was anything but. He knew better than to look behind himself as he ran. Dared not to. He had seen too many horror movies to know that was a waste of energy. Even so, it was too hard to resist the urge. It was instinct. He had to know how much distance was between him and his pursuer. What he saw surprised him. The Shinx wasn't growling. Not barking. Or purring?? He wasn't sure if it was a cat or a dog. Whichever it was, it looked....happy? The fear began to subside somewhat, but he didn't slow down. He still didn't trust this wild animal or its intentions.

Looking back ahead, he finally caught a glimpse of something that proved he wasn't suddenly alone in this land of insanity. Or rather, someone. A human someone. A human someone who called out to use this, a toy ball being tossed in his direction. The cat/dog creature chasing him potentially wanted to eat his face off, and she wanted him to play fetch with it? Who knows. Maybe she had been here longer than the presumably five minutes he had been. Maybe she knew what she was talking about. He reached out a hand to catch the ball but missed, the ball itself bouncing just enough off the palm of his hand that it diverted its trajectory and bounced against his chest. In his panicked state Theo would draw both hands to his chest to catch the ball and succeed in not only that, but also tripping and tumbling head first back in to the sand. This just wasn't turning out to be his day!

He rolled over and began to back scurry away from the still advancing Shinx, not sure what the woman meant by use this. He wasn't going to throw it. It might be his one saving grace. How that was possible he wasn't sure, but it had to do something. All this time spent thinking gave the Shinx enough time to catch up to him and leap, calling out with a happy cry of his name as he did so. He hadn't realized he had made his mind up until both of his arms were out in front of himself to protect his face, Theo not realizing he had actually connected the toy ball to the cat/dog creature's body at the last second.

He watched as the Shinx transformed from its usual appearance to red energy, energy that was then quickly sucked up in to the toy ball which Theo promptly released. He wasn't sure what had happened, but it was over. With an exhausted sigh Theo fell backwards in to the sand, feeling like now was a good chance to catch his breath. He didn't witness as the ball shook twice on the ground before rolling over so the white part of the ball was face up, but he did hear the almost too silent ding the ball emitted before going still as well. Did that mean it was over? He hoped that meant it was over. Not sitting up Theo would extend an arm to the sky and wave in the direction of the woman to show he was alright, his arm quickly falling back to rest on his chest. “Thank the Gods thats over with.”

He laid there a moment before sitting up, looking at the ball on the ground. He had so many questions he didn't know where to start. Despite the protests of his legs Theo forced himself to stand and wipe the sand from his backside, kneeling down and picking up the ball. He assumed it had done its job, whatever that was, and so he would approach the woman, meeting her half way if she had started in his direction. He didn't have the energy to be hysterical, which in and of itself was a good thing. He only had the energy to think logically, something he always thought he was very good at. “Thanks for...that. Whatever that was.” He offered the ball to her, not knowing the significance of what he was doing. “I really owe you one. Big time. I don't um...I don't have any idea what's going on here. Could I...could I trouble you a little bit more and maybe try to figure this out?” The ball shook in his hand then and popped open, the Shinx taking form next to Theo who immediately started to flinch away. He stopped when he again saw how happy the Shinx looked, the Flash Pokemon rubbing against his leg. “It...it's a cat. A cat that can glow blue. Shit maybe I have gone crazy.” He looked up from the Shinx back to the woman, a very confused look on his face.

After having just met Eveline and learning that she came from the future, meeting an outsider to this realm wasn't completely unheard of. The only reason she thought this was because the man seemed truly terrified of the animal he was running away from. He didn't know what its species were. Normally, any human who knew what a Pokemon was would call it by its species name. Maybe he was still terrified of it?

But then again... Desmond wasn't exactly like that.

Granted, Desmond was her only base of reference as she's never really met anyone with pokephobia. It wasn't very common in a world full of Pokemon, but it could happen.

She realized he also didn't know how to use the Pokeball she gave him or what it did, leading her to believe he's never touched or seen a Pokemon before or any Pokemon-related items. Regardless of wherever he came from, she was now wanting to help him. Even kindergartners knew what a Pokeball was, or even what Pokemon were called, especially for common species like Shinx.

So... Where did this guy come from?

His accent sounded familiar, but strange when he spoke. When Naka spoke, she had a small bit of a northern Japanese accent, but she did sound more American. "You don't understand what happened... Where did you come from...?" She mused, her brow furrowed up in concern with a small smile from amusement. "It's not uncommon for people to arrive here on this world through portals or some such spatial kerfuckery, but from a place where people don't know what Pokemon are... I'm a bit concerned as to what world you came from..."

Then, she gave him a huge smile. "It's obvious you're not from here. Your accent is familiar, but still strange. That-" She pointed at the Shinx. "Is a Pokemon. Any creature that isn't a human you see on this planet are all called Pokemon. This specific one is a Shinx. They can utilize electricity from organs in their legs to send out lightning to attack. That-" She pointed to the Pokeball. "-is a Pokeball, a spherical device that allows you to capture Pokemon. Once you capture them, you own them. You're going to need the Shinx if you're going to be out here. Pokemon aren't normally this docile and sweet. Some are territorial and will attack you if you get too near, so having a Pokemon by your side to protect you is your best bet in surviving out here. Hah, I guess that sounds really dystopian. We're pretty advanced in our technology thanks to Pokemon. I swear, we're not like in some novels." She laughed, holding up her hands defensively and to assuage any worries.

She then put a hand to her chest. "I'm Nakano Saito, but you can just call me Naka. I'm a researcher who studies Pokemon's behavior and biology based on where they live and their pedigree. How did you get here?" She asked with a tilt of her head. A device was going off in her backpack with small beeping. Confused, she turned to pull out a small handheld device. It had a grip with a small screen terminal on top. She pointed it towards Theo and her eyes widened. "That's a lot of psychic energy. I don't think I've ever seen these numbers before except in..."

She looked up at him, an intrigued gleam in her gaze. "What thing brought you here? Did they look like letters?"

Naka listened to Eveline with rapt attention, hanging onto every word and detail. Oblivia, Hastings (what a funny fellow), how the two motors affected each other, and caused her to appear here. And how she got Ruination, which was dope. A random egg on the beach? Something told Naka there was more to the story given, or maybe she was still pissed at how she ended up here.

How old was she now?

She listened to her worries on the time traveling thing, to which Naka hummed. "Well... How old are you now? If you disappeared fifteen years in the future to be here, then it's likely you'll reappear within a few days since you disappeared once Hastings gets it fixed. And hey, if you did capture Pokemon here, wouldn't they just become a part of your family? I don't think it's going to affect anything if you captured more Pokemon and brought them into the future. It's not like there's two of the Pokemon if you take them with you to the future. Though... Depending on how old you are, there's probably a young Eveline running around in Oblivia, so I think it's safe not to go there. I don't know if there's any paradox issues that can happen, but I'd rather there not be any, hehe." She chuckled, though it was out of nervousness.

She noticed Aldon having came in and she waved to him. However, since she was still talking to Eveline, she didn't make a move to get up to speak to him.

~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Naka's Ludicolo was having the time of his life dancing with the flash mob right outside of the Pokemon Center. As he danced with Chente and Reina, he spoke to Chente to help him jive with his new body. He nodded at Reina's question, doing solo salsa and then solo tango (well, also trying to get Chente into it), and all the while told Chente that they were the dance, and they must embody it so as to not feel like they're going against some biological ancestral shunning. Dance was also their defensive weapon in dodging attacks and being almost unpredictable in how they moved, and also aided in using Teeter Dance.
Which he used, his body going double and wavy to show off...
Oh boy...
When the woman before him began to give him her crash course on the world of Pokemon Theo would listen intently, nodding a few times with every few sentences. But the more she talked, the crazier she sounded. Her accent did throw him off a bit, but he was able to understand what she was saying nonetheless. Pokermon. Shinx. Pokerball. Was their entire society built upon gambling, or just poker in general? “Sorry, sorry. This is....a lot to take in right now. You're saying I'm...what? On another world? I thought that only happened in” he cut his own statement off when the device in her backpack went off and it was pointed at him, Theo moving to hold his hands up as one does when they think they're going to be held at gunpoint and accidentally dropping the pokerball in the process. When she mentioned the letters is when Theo would begin to get excited again, nodding his head up and down furiously. “Yeah yeah yeah! Letter fucker things. I was” he caught himself and took a deep breath before continuing, having calmed himself back down.
“I...let me explain. My mom, dad and I are archaeologists. I've been spelunking in caves and ruins and what have you since I was...I dunno, 10 or so? About a month or so ago now we found a book. We'd been studying it pretty much non stop. The book was written in strange symbols not found not only in that part of the world, but no other part that we could find. I had just started noticing a pattern and was about to go to bed, when I look over and the symbols are....this is gonna sound crazy....floating off the pages and...I guess transforming?? Transforming in to letters that looked like the alphabet I grew up with, but each one had what looked like an eye. They noticed me noticing them and latched on to me. I thought I was dead. Still...not gonna lie still kinda do. I'm dead and this is Limbo's loading screen. I” he stopped as the thought that there might still be a letter on him, Theo lifting his shirt hastily and looking down. One would think that through all his flailing all of the letters would have removed themselves by now, but there attached to his right lower abdomen was an Unown F looking up at the two of them. As soon as it realized it had been spotted it vanished, Theo jumping at the sight and the readings from the machine likely dropping somewhat.
Turning his attention back to her, he glanced to the spot again to confirm the letter had indeed vanished right before their eyes. “You...you saw that, right? I'm not...crazy?” If he wasn't crazy, and he assumed she wasn't either, then he also had to believe that everything she had said was true. Which he didn't have much reason to doubt in the first place, given what she said about Shinx had lined up with what he had witnessed so far. It was possible what he saw the Shinx emitting was electricity, but to think a creature existed in any world at all, let alone this one, that could control it to that extent alone was enough to boggle the mind. “Pokerball. Pokermon. Shinx. I need to write all this down. I'm gonna need some notebooks. Pens. Another pokerball or two. I” a slew of questions came to him, Theo firing them off rapid fire “Do pokerballs only house one pokermon, or can they hold multiple? Can you carry more than one with you at a time? You said pokermon aren't normally this docile and sweet. Does that mean this Shinx belongs to someone else and I just stole it? Is that possible, or did I just make a copy of it?” It was clear he had more questions he wanted to ask, but a Gyarados in the distance reared its scaly head from the ocean and let out a roar loud enough to be heard from the shoreline, Theo snapping his head in its direction. The two of them could just barely make out the Gyarados' outline from their position, Theo slowly looking back to Naka. “That....definitely not a Shinx.” Suddenly Shinx didn't seem so scary anymore.
Reina Cortez
"Wait, Ludicolo no!"
Reina wasn't a stranger to Teeter Dance, her Lombre had used it several times. The issues was that, there were several Pokemon within the crowd!
Before Chente and Reina could do anything about it though, the first confused Pokemon crashed into a nearby food stand. Then, someone shot a Water Gun at another Pokemon, causing them to break into a fight. The dancing stopped and chaos began as people burst into battles, yelling at each other and running away from the scene. Including Reina.
"Let's go!" She grabbed both Ludicolo's hands and ran with them to the Pokemon Center, hoping nobody noticed the mess they had caused. "Whoa, close one." The Metztlian trainer burst into laughter while Chente joyfully continued to dance.
The Thwackey relentlessly scratched away at his opponent, enjoying that the elusive Lombre was finally in his clutches. Unfortunately, the Beat Pokémon had to bring the beating to a close when the Water/Grass type had been declared unable to continue, but that didn't prevent the Grass Monkey from taking pride in making the Jolly Pokémon anything but.
Wilford watched his triumphant Pokémon with a small grinning nod, satisfied that the Thwackey continued to prove reliable. The grin disappeared when he saw Milo's ace hit the field. The Eldegoss's extra thiccness was noticed by both Thwackey and his trainer. The former began playing a beat with his sticks while crying out to both psyche himself up and disorient the opponent while the latter opened his briefcase and stared at the Pokéball containing his Monferno. The eyes of the rich young man danced between the Pokéball and the grass type on the field as he mulled over if he should swap or stay in.
If I were to maximize my chance of winning this battle, I would keep Thwackey in to whittle down the Eldegoss so its weak enough for Monferno to effortlessly defeat. But this battle has gone on long enough, its time to step on the gas.
Wilford grabbed Thwackey's vacant Pokéball and pressed its button, releasing a light blue light that enveloped the Beat Pokémon and returned it to the aforementioned ball. After placing the ball in its designated spot in the briefcase, he grabbed Monferno's Pokéball, pressed its central button, and unleashed the Fire/Fighting type onto the battlefield. Unlike his simian teammate, Monferno had no theatrics in store for his opponent, simply raising its fists and preparing itself to receive a command from his trainer.
"Mach Punch!" Wilford snapped his finger as he instructed the Playful Pokémon, aiming to overwhelm the Eldegoss with speedy attacks. With speed comparable to the preceding snap, Monferno rushed towards Eldegoss cloaked in a white light, aiming to punch the Cotton Bloom Pokémon square in the face.
Naka wondered just how much Theo was at least grasping these fundamental concepts. It was important he did, but it seemed to her that he did somewhat understand, even if the whole idea seemed crazy. She must have said something wrong when she was going over the Pokemon, only to realize her accent slipped through. She nodded towards his questions, and when he answered her question in turn about what creature had brought him here, she nodded slowly.
Listening intently, she realized what they must have founded. Chuckling, Naka then watched him madly look himself over, only to see one little Unown stuck to him. It then vanished. Indeed, the readings did drop, but they lingered in a heightened amount around him, which likely would end up going back to normal levels in a few days.
"Well, you're definitely not dead. And yeah, I saw that. You're not crazy." She listened to him again, only to realize he was saying Pokeball and Pokemon wrong. She laughed a little, shaking her head, her accent now becoming full American. "No no, it's Poke-ay-mon, or Poke-uh-mon. Sorry, must've been my accent. No, we don't live in a gambling society. Well..." She narrowed her eyes as she thought of something. Huh, maybe they do kind of live in a gambling society. She then shrugged. "Eh, I'll tell you about that later." She was about to answer his questions when she was interrupted by a loud roar. Looking over, she let out an amused scoff and waved her hand nonchalantly at it.
"Don't worry, I fought one of those yesterday. You should've seen the Pokemon that came after it." She then realized he might not want to and she laughed sheepishly. "Ah, well... maybe not."
She then moved on to his other questions, as well as that book he found back in his world, her explanations measured so he can follow what she was saying easier. "That book is the book of the Unown. Unown, by themselves, are weak creatures. But when they are grouped together, they can cause reality-altering effects, or even - in your case - transport someone." She then pointed towards the city. "I can help you get yourself sorted with the stuff you need. Poke-ay-balls." She teased and corrected. "Notebooks, a phone with the Pokedex app, too. The Pokedex feature allows you to scan Pokemon when you meet them and give you information on them. PokeBalls only house one Pokemon. You must register at any Pokemon Center to be a Pokemon Trainer, where you get your Trainer ID, so you may carry Pokemon and have access to the PC system, which is a system that puts your Pokemon in stasis until you need them again. This can be accessed on your future phone. It also transports any caught Pokemon to your PC storage system if you catch more than six, but you can always gain permission to travel around with more than six Pokemon. For any official or sanctioned battles though, six is the highest amount you can use in a fight. Oh... I should probably explain that, too."
She then gestured for him to follow, walking towards Scarlet City. "If that Shinx belonged to anyone, you wouldn't have been able to catch it. Once caught, the Pokeballs leave the Pokemon with a sort of energy tag that can trace who they belong to and keep them from being caught by others. And no, Pokeballs don't just create a copy of the Pokemon. If they did that, we'd have bigger problems and that's something any evildoer would just exploit if they were just the least bit tech savvy. Pokemon are energy beings, and they can be condensed into energy by the Pokeball and held safely inside. They can sense what's happening outside of the ball if they so wish, which is where you get Pokemon breaking out of their Pokeballs without permission to protect their trainers or when they want something." She then pressed her lips in a thin line. "It is possible to steal Pokemon from people, however that marks you as a grunt of evil team organizations. So don't." She said sternly. "I've gotten rid of their upstarts in two regions, and I'd rather not have to deal with more evil people. Not saying you'd do that, but don't get pulled into something that's way over your head. Though, you got a good head on your shoulders, so I doubt that will happen."
She pointed to the Pokemon that roared in the distance. "That's a Gyarados, large sea serpents with awesome power. Enough power to raze a city in a night. However, their one big weakness are Electric-Type moves, and that's where I'll explain the elements." She grinned. She then pointed to Shinx. "Shinx are Electric-Type Pokemon. Pokemon can have either one or two types natural to them and their biology. That-" She pointed to a flying, brown wild pigeon. "-is a Pidgey, a Normal/Flying-Type. Because Pokemon are energy beings, they may also have abilities and attacks that defy your average physics. They can create and manipulate aura that can then become one of the elements, which then cloaks a certain part of their body and they use it to attack or defend, or even buff themselves or debuff their enemies. While a Pokemon can learn many attacks, with eight being the max they can use at full efficiency, Pokemon may only have one Ability. They may have only one or three at most given randomly to them at birth."
She then pointed to Shinx again. "Shinx are capable of having one of three abilities. I can normally tell what type of ability a Pokemon has by just looking at it. It can either have one ability, called Rivalry, that increases its damage towards those of the same gender and do less damage towards those of the opposite gender, another called Intimidate that can scare its opponents when the Shinx comes out to fight and make them do less damage, and another called Guts. Guts is a rare ability for Shinx to have, which we call Hidden Abilities. Guts causes Shinx's physical attack to strengthen if its affected with a status condition, which are just conditions that cause the Pokemon gradual damage or prevent them from attacking. Before I get onto battling, which... I guess it would be a little correct that this world is a sort of a gambling thing with Pokemon fights, you don't have to battle to earn money. However, it is the thing most people end up doing. I, however, get my money through my career as a researcher." She laughed.
"Anyway, then there's evolution. Hopefully you're getting this all down. Of course, any information you have need of, the internet has it for you. Evolution of a Pokemon can be achieved through numerous things. For Shinx, it's simple. Help it get stronger and give it lots of battling experience. It'll then evolve into a more powerful form, and sometimes they'll even change abilities, change types, and learn new moves. For Shinx, it's got another form to evolve into once it evolves once. Other Pokemon either need stones or specific items to evolve, while others need the electrical interference of our PC teleport or trading system that causes them to evolve. Your future Pokedex can tell you all this."
She then looked at the Shinx carefully, then smiled. "This Shinx is male and has Intimidate. No wonder why you ran." She laughed, then continued to explain how she knew his gender. "His hind paws are black. If they're blue, he'd be a female." She continued their walk to Scarlet City, rummaging through her pockets to find anything that he may use. "I'll tell you about battles later. I think I already filled your brain with enough jargon to last a life time. You hungry? We use Pokedollars here, so we'll need to get you some funds to last yourself a while here. Since you're an archaeologist, I can send in a good word to a professor and have you working for them to get a paycheck going. You'll need an ID before you do though, and generally having strong Pokemon makes for spelunking less dangerous."
Milo
Date: August 2
Location: Turffield Stadium, Turffield, Galar
Pokemon Team: Lombre, Eldegoss
Battling: Wilford Pine and Monferno (sSoul) vs Eldegoss
Field: N/A
Milo watched Wilford's expression change from satisfaction and triumphant to probably one of concern. His smile widened as he switched Pokemon, and he ordered his Monferno to attack. Of course. "What's up with you kiddos and launching an attack before I Dynamax?" He was starting to see a trend and he shook his head with a chuckle. "Alrighty."
The Eldegoss took the hit fairly well, cotton spewing everywhere from Eldegoss's Cotton Down to slow down the Monferno's speed, going to stick to him as he made contact.
"Let's show 'em what for!" He returned his Eldegoss and his Dynamax Band sent energy in several purple arcs into the Pokeball, making it bigger. Once that was done, he threw it up in the air and the Eldegoss landed behind him, his Dynamax Band covering Milo in energy to protect him from the fight.
Whether Wilford Dynamaxed or not, it didn't matter. Now he wasn't going to show the same courtesy. "Eldegoss, Max Strike!" The Eldegoss's body glowed, and sent a wave of energy into the earth. The white energy appeared underneath Monferno, cracking through the ground before exploding upwards to capture the Monferno in a pillar of white energy that would sap his speed if he got hit.
As Rick stood up and started walking to the door, he was suddenly called by one of the trainers from that group of divers, who also happened to be at the Pokecenter. He stoped, and His eyes widened in surprise, as the girl told him she could help him, and to wait for her outside. "Wow... didn't even have to ask..." He muttered. "Umm... thanks?" He said in a low tone, though by then she was already back at talking with another trainer.
As Rick walked out of the Center - "Oh dear, what the hell is going on right here?" - He found himself in the middle of a chaotic scene, with two joyfull Ludicolos dancing, and a bunch people and pokémon not so joyfully picking up fights with each other. So much worry about the Gyarados and the Blastoise destroying the city, and these Ludibros ended up being the ones causing the mayhem. If anyone asks Rick a reason why he dislikes dancing, there's a good one.
Looking around, he saw Iris laying under a palmtree and away from all the mess, so he casualy walked to her. "How's the spectacle?" He asked. Mostly rhetorically, as her grimace, pinned ears, and eyes closed shut clearly indicated that she wasn't very ammused. Rick sat next to her as he waited for his acquaintance. "Could be worse. Could be a Rain Dance."
Ok good. He wasn't crazy. Not by their standards anyway. He was about to ask her whether or not the crab thing that pinched him awake was a pokermon or not, but then realized she had already answered that question. Any creature not a human was a pokermon. Hmm? What was that? Poke-uh-mon? Well now he just looked silly. He looked again to the Gyarados as it jumped in to the air and back in to the water, vanishing beneath its surface without a trace. Naka had beaten one of those, he assumed with her own Shinx. But how could a small cat stand up to a giant sea serpent like that?? Were there bigger Shinx in the world? The Book of the Unown. That's what he and his parents had found. Unown were the letter fuckers. They brought him to this world against his will, for whatever reason. It wasn't like he could just ask them. They were gone now. Would they even understand him if he could find them again? “Ye...yeah. Any help you could offer would be phenomenal. But don't spend any mon...ey...” Crap. A hand went in to his pocket, finding his wallet and phone were both not with him. Of course they weren't. They were sitting undisturbed on the nightstand next to his bed....back home. It wasn't going to be glamorous, but he guess that left him no choice but to check lost and founds for potential temporary items. Were lost and founds even a thing in this world? From the way Naka had described the world so far, it didn't sound likely.
“Poke-UH-mon. Pokemon. Pokemon” he muttered a few times to himself, kneeling down and retrieving the poker...I mean pokeball from the ground. “Poke-UH-ball.” Theo looked down to the Shinx, the one name he had gotten right, and dropped the ball so it landed on the Shinx's head. As one would expect the electric cat was absorbed in to the ball again, Theo again kneeling down and picking it up. She began to walk and talk, so Theo would do the same. There was still a lot to learn about this world. “Pokeballs catch pokemon, like Shinx.” he held the ball up, though this time not offering it to her. She said he was going to need Shinx to survive in this world, and so he wasn't about to let that meal ticket go. “Because Shinx was captured in this pokeball, he's...Yours? Mine? It....was your ball, but is it mine now since I'm the one that used the ball to catch it? I don't have a...what was it? Trainer ID? So how will that work?” He also caught the bit about evil organizations, mentally sighing. Seemed there were groups like that in every world then, weren't there? That was disheartening. This world might be a dystopia like she said, but even a world this side of paradise seemed to have bad apples.
He was happy to hear they had internet here. Whatever questions he didn't think to ask, or whatever information he missed from her, he would be able to look up once they parted ways. Once he got his hands on a lost and found phone of course. Maybe he could find one at the pokemon center she mentioned, if he was lucky. There was even more information she was throwing his way, and the more she bombarded him with the less he felt like he understood, but he thought he had it nonetheless.
“I think I got it. Correct me if I'm wrong. People” he motioned between the two of them as they walked “Can use pokeballs” He holds the ball up again “to catch pokemon.” the button was accidentally pressed, again releasing the Shinx who pounced once to catch up, keeping in step with Theo. “Rip them from their natural habitat. Force said pokemon to fight one another for money. But not just tooth and nail no no no that would be too easy. Each pokemon, however many of them there are, has their own type of one or two elements they can use in these fights. And not even just that. They can make themselves stronger, or weaken their opponents in these fights. And they have even more special Abilities than that. And they...evolve? Like millions of years of evolution evolve? We don't live that long on my world. Are you.... Are you millions of ears old? You don't look it. And all of this is legal? This is...everyone does this? Or most everyone. That...this...would not do well in my world. PETA would be all over this like a bad cold. But. I do understand we're not in my world. We're in yours. I have to follow the rules of your world. Or I might get crushed by it. So if this is normal...I'll go along with it. When in Rome, right?” He didn't speak in a harsh tone. He was using a very matter of fact tone to speak. This was all new information, and he was making sure he was processing it correctly.
The question of food was met with his stomach growling in response, Theo not even trying to hide it. “Honestly, I'm hungry. I'm tired. Like I said. I was about to go to bed when the Unown brought me here. And now its noon. Wait is that...is that something I should keep to myself? You said its not unusual, but is it completely normal? And um....” This next part was going to be hard for him. “Th...thank you. For helping me. For believing my out of this world story. Most people, back on my world, would have called me a nut and had me hauled off for testing.”
Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)
Adrianne watched as Reggie seemed to come to life and tried to insist he had been fine, which had not been the most encouraging way to communicate that given the rasp in the voice but the fact remained she had a chance here and with Briar by his side she had to trust he'd be okay.
Staryu emerged out of the water and tried to slam a rapid spin strike on Aqua, though with Adrianne's attention focused she had just the idea. "Aqua dive and use Water Gun below it!"
Aqua quickly dove in a panic under the water as Staryu's attack sailed over and quickly the Azurill fired a blast which mixed with he sea water and a stream shot up before Staryu had a chance to land and dive away as it was blasted and knocked into the air. "Star!" It cried out as it splashed onto the water and Aqua surfaced once more.
"All right, now use Sing!" Adrianne called out as Staryu surfaced as well, but before it had a chance to prepare a Water Gun on its own Aqua had taken a breath and began her own melody. "Azu Azurill~. Azu Azurill~."
Notes seemed to be summoned and drifted to the Staryu as they spun around and Adrianne bit her thumb as she hoped it connected, and luck seemed to be in her favor as the notes landed and the Staryu seemed to fall asleep. A chance! She tossed her Pokeball which bounced off the top of its frame and sucked it up while Aqua quickly had dove under to grab the ball to keep it above water. The pair watched it shake once, shake twice, shake once more and....click!
Adrianne had made a capture!
Ezio Farello - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh
"Yeah, yeah." Ezio said, before noticing it was getting dark. "I am sorry for keeping you so long! I was meant to be in Solaceon Town at this time, but I just got so lost in the battle and the concept of Pokémon from a long gone time that it completely slipped my mind!" The man apologized, before grabbing the last Poké Ball that he didn't use in the battle. "You go get some rest, I have to get moving." Releasing Evi, his Aerodactyl, he smiled at Kaden before waving at the coordinator. "Keep me updated on your contest endeavours! I'll do my best to catch the next one."
"Let's fly, Evi." Ezio said, hopping on Evi's back and flying towards Solaceon with some powerful wingbeats.
Nicole Newman - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar
Nicole kept her camera on the Swablu flock, making sure to catch their bathing and preening. "Nymphicus cumulus, common name being Swablu. A Normal/Flying type that evolves into Altaria, a Dragon/Flying type that is known to hum. Swablu love cleanliness and despise filth, eagerly cleaning up any mess they see with their wings before cleaning them in mountain streams. Peculiar is their habit to land on heads and act as a hat." The Bird Keeper informed, clearly knowledgable about the Cotton Bird Pokémon.
"When attacked by predators, they try to hide in the clouds to lose their attacker. Due to how similar their wings are to clouds, they blend effortlessly together.
July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline
Eveline glared at Naka as she asked about her age, that kind of crap was sacred. Although since Aldon walked in on them, she decided to speak much more quietly, especially since she was about to drop a bomb on Naka.
"Well, if you must know, I'm 22. And while you might be right there, I don't want to take chances with new Pokémon. And lastly... the young me isn't in Oblivia, I was just visiting there for like, a week.The young me is closer than you think... way... way closer..."
She would pull out her wallet again, then her trainer ID and handed it to Naka. Everything followed up based on what she said, except for one big detail... this chick had been lying about her name this whole time. With a subtle tweak of her head in Reina's direction, who could be seen from where they were sitting, just a look at the person who had been silently walking with Reina and the name on the her ID made more sense...
Kaden waved away Ezio's apology, "Oh, it's alright. I enjoyed my time battling and giving you some insight to old Sinnoh," he said and looked up at the sky before looking at the Ruin Maniac and his Aerodactyl, "You two have a safe flight. Solaceon shouldn't be too awfully far to fly to. It's on this side of Mt. Coronet at least. Hope you get there before night," the coordinator wished the other man and gave him a wave, "Will do!" he called out one last time and watched for a moment before going inside. After all, his pokemon and himself needed a good rest. As well as a shower to get all that sand off of him...
Lara Brook - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar
Lara listened intently as she photographed the fluffy cloud pokemon with a small smile curling up her lips, happy to just listen. She was glad she managed to get Nicole on the job with her and to have a flying type expert while recording and taking pictures of bird pokemon, "I see... Quite interesting little birds. And to think that they go from Normal-Flying to Dragon-Flying," she mused, pulling her face away from her camera for a moment to look around to look where the next subject of her photos would be. She aimed her lens higher to take more pictures of the flying Cotton Bird pokemon.
Gwen Tucker - 19th of June - Snowbound Lodge Route 216, Sinnoh
Gwen stepped into the Snowbound Lodge and felt a cozy warmth wash over her. Cobalt followed after her and let out a sigh after shaking off the snow off of himself and followed closeby to his trainer. She gave the older man a wide grin, happily accepting her own room. She was so ready to go sit down and now remove many of the layers of warm clothes she was wearing, "Thank you, sir!" she thanked Akira and went her way.
She walked around, trying to find her room, trainer and pokemon waddling around in a similar manner. Finding her room, Gwen plopped herself down and took off her excess layers of clothings. Cobalt puffled up his feathers and groomed himself a bit as well. After taking a moment to warm up and rest, the blue haired girl held the pokeball with her newly caught Swinub in it. Finally a pokemon she caught on her own. No shade on Cobalt or Ozzy, but this was different. Her starter looked at the pokeball quizzically and then back up at his trainer, "Pip?"
"The Swinub? We should welcome them to the team, right?" Gwen asked and she was about to grab Ozzy's pokeball, but the little Deino popped out on his own, most likely sensing the shift in temperature "Grawww" he let out a low growling noise and made himself comfortable on the bed, "Do you also want to see your new teammate Ozzy? Alright, here we go," Gwen said and aimed the pokemon towards the ground.
"Come on out, Swinub!" and from the white energy of the pokeball emerged the cubby little Swinub. She looked around confused. She was in the snow a moment ago before that furball pounced her, but where was she now? The Pig pokemon sniffed around curiously before she noticed the young human girl that had captured her and the two other pokemon with her. She squealed in surprise at the sight of them, but wait.. Wasn't that girl the same one that threw the ball on her? Did she take her here? What was 'here' anyway. The Ice and ground pokemon sniffed around some again.
"Helloo Swinub~" Gwen cooed, finding the Pig pokemon quite cute, "Aren't you a cute pokemon. I bet you're strong as well. Mr. Pu- I mean Ron, said that-" but before she could finish her sentence, she got interrupted by a loud squeal as Swinub dashed out of the room, "No wait!-" Gwen exclaimed and dashed after her newly captured pokemon. She didn't do anything wrong, did she? Were newly captured pokemon like this?
The Swinub meanwhile had found a delightful scent of food flowing around the lodge and needed to find the source of it, Swinub!" Gwen yelled after with both Ozzy and Cobalt running after her. The Piplup because he needed to keep his trainer and this wild pokemon in check and the Deino because everyone else was running. The Swinub was surprisingly agile for her short and chubby body, but it was mostly the want for food that was motivating her so. The girl and her pokemon ran around for a good bit and the Swinub had evaded her a couple of times because of the commotion she had stopped to listen to. Finally entering the dining area, the Swinub made an abrupt stop that caused Gwen, Ozzy and Cobalt all to tumble over the drooling Pig pokemon.
"Gah- ouch," the young girl said with her two other pokemon making equally pained cries. Swinub meanwhile had her nose stuck to the wooden floor, sniffing it as she waddled her way closer to the kitchen with her little tail wagging behind her.
Team On-hand: Pyrrha (Jangmo-o), Pariparisithea (Munna), Tarrah Ta’Ella (Bounsweet), Kasriel Ikaros Svelinka Sō (G-Zigzagoon), Bâquîle Nâva (Goomy), L’ Basseau. (Surskit)
In Esther’s care: Houndour
She’d ruin her nails at this rate... Esther pulled her thumb from her lips. Even after wracking her brain, Esther couldn’t think of a new direction to take Pyrrha’s training. The fact of the matter was that despite her repertoire of moves, Pyrrha was limited in variety. Dragon-type moves and Normal-type moves.
That wasn’t bad but, honestly, she was reaching the limits of her creativity. Scale shot as makeshift spikes? Yep! Dragon Tail and Dragon Breath as mobility enhancement options? Been there, done that! Dragonbreath smokescreen? Check! Dragon Tail Hammer? Her favorite!
It really felt like there wasn’t any further room for improvement, nowhere to innovate. Esther knew that wasn’t true, human innovation was infinite and limitless. If she couldn’t think of anything, that was on her.
In any case, she was getting ahead of herself. She wanted to keep things basic and focus on familiarizing herself with her pokémon’s moves. She’d do that; just that. Strange use cases could come later.
Esther rummaged through her bag until she retrieved a small yet durable practice ball. She released all her pokémon and commanded their attention.
“We’re gonna play a game! Use your moves to keep this ball in the air; whoever lets the ball drop will lose. You can’t hit the ball too hard, but you can’t do it too softly either. Understand? Great! You can only hit the ball once so make it count.”
“Ready? Serve!”
Laura Willham
They fell for it, what appeared to be a Max Strike turned out to be a Max Guard in disguise. Laura watched on as the wave of poison created by her Koffing drained with no effect on the Eldegoss. Following that, came the opposing side's Max Strike. The wave of energy hit the floating poison type, causing him to flail around in the air as he tried to regain his balance. This attack did much more than the previous Grass move, but it still wasn't enough to take the Koffing out.
"Alright they might have avoided one attack, but that should be it for them. We'll finish it with this next one!" Laura yelled out. As soon as her Koffing got into a stable stance, Laura let her commands be known. "Alright! Max Steelspike!" Letting out a hefty breath, the Koffing crashed down to the ground once more. Out from the ground, many large metal spikes began sprouting up and extending towards the gym leader's Eldegoss, striking towards the opposing pokemon.
Montagne Khastil
July 2 - Versant Road, Kalos - 7:40 PM
"Give me a light, Chauffe." Monty extended a hand down to his Houndour, a cigarette pinched between his finger and thumb, and though the pup was still huffing and puffing from the exertion of his training he took a small breath and POOFED! out a miniscule <<Ember>>. The small flame hit the cigarette dead-on, and its bearer brought it to his lips.
PUFF-PUFF...HUFF.
So, Chauffemagne could hit something accurately. He could've tricked Monty, given his performance against Oracle over the past couple rounds of their training. The Absol in question did marvelously, weaving between each and every Incinerate and Ember sent her way, but her doing well wasn't the point.
PUFF...HUFF.
"You're gonna need some more work, Chauffe. I understand tagging Oracle's a tall order, but not even once?" For once, Monty's words didn't fall on deaf ears. The humiliation of defeat burned in the Houndour's eyes, stoked by his trainer's chiding, and his gaze was glued to the dirt.
On the other hand, Oracle's gaze was glued to her weaker teammate.
Poor little Chauffemagne, unable to sully her prestine coat with a single measely fireball. It was almost as though his failure was cemented the moment she was chosen as his opponent! In fact, was his failure not yet more evidence that they didn't need him in the first place? If he couldn't hit her once, how could he be expected to face an opponent even close to her level?
PUFF...HUFF.
Monty's eyes flickered to Oracle, taking in the gloating look in her eyes, then back to Chauffemagne and his study of the dirt between their feet. Crestfallen wasn't how he needed his pokémon, and his partner wasn't helping in the slightest.
"Pick your head up, Chauffe." The Houndour slowly raised his gaze to Monty, humiliation still smoldering behind his eyes. Good.
Monty crouched down to get closer to the Dark Pokémon. "Remember this feeling well. Burn it into your brain—" He poked the pup in the skull cap with his free hand. "—and don't let it go out. I chose you because you didn't back down like the rest of your pack. And you joined us because you wanted to get as strong as us, yeah?"
Chauffemagne nodded fervently, the smoldering humiliation slowly being overtaken by something akin to intrigue.
PUFF...HUFF.
"Then this feeling you have now'll be good inspiration to work even harder than you already have to catch up. We start first thing in the morning, along with Esther..." Monty glanced behind himself to the fiery haired girl and her team down the road. Were they playing with a ball? "...and her pokémon."
Chauffemagne barked affirmatively, with determination blazing behind his eyes.
PUFF...HUFF.
They had a lot of work ahead of them. At least the little pup was eager.
Montagne Khastil
July 4 - Camphrier Town, Kalos
Monty led the group through the Camphrier gate, swaggering through with Oracle at his side, Chauffemagne close to his heels and Abnégarde on his shoulders. Every step was purposeful, carrying the criminal closer and closer to his goal, and he held with him a confidence that he and Esther would perform well after the training they'd done on the long walk from Lumiose.
The sun had long since set, and the dark of night was kept at bay by faux-oil lanterns lining the cobblestone streets of Camphrier. It was one of the region's most ancient settlements, and though most of the architecture had been updated for the modern age it managed to keep its old charm. Above the city, on a large hill, sat their final destination; Shabboneau Castle.
"Good to finally get here, eh?" It wasn't so much a question as it was an announcement of his thankfulness to not have to camp another night, but it was directed to Esther, Azumi, and Nico nonetheless.
Ezio Farello - June 15th - Solaceon Town
Ezio stifled a yawn as he arrived at a café, ordering a coffee before sitting down. He had spent all night reading papers and whenever he did want to sleep, he got woken up by some awful wails coming from the ruins. If there was some kind of ghost keeping him up, he would not hesistate to hit it with a Rock Wrecker. Taking a sip of his coffee, he laid his papers out in front of him to go over them again. Why did they have to be written in a way that made them drier than Unova's Desert Resort?
Nicole Newman - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar
"They are the only Flying type to gain the Dragon typing upon evolution, and one of only five Pokémon to gain the Dragon type upon evolution." Nicole explained, recording some Swablu interact with each other and taking a bath together. 'They always remind me of fluffy grapes." The Bird Keeper said, squeezing one eye shut and squeezing her fingers as she saw a Swablu fly overhead, as if she squished it like a grape.
Azumi Towers- July 4 - Camphrier Town, Kalos.
A loud sighed escaped Azumi's lips as her blue eyes set on the destination. "I am truly glad we arrived. I need a spa."
Camping was not Azumi's strong suit. If only Esther had gone shopping with them, she wouldn't have ended up buying a sleeping bag and sleeping on the floor. Her back was aching, so the first thing on her agenda was to get that fixed. She knew she would get used to it eventually, but a life time of comfortable beds to sleeping on the ground wasn't an easy change. It wasn't all bad though.
Azumi had gotten to knew her travel companions a bit more. Nico was a great cook, better than she thought. If he was available, Azumi would hire him as her personal chef on the spot. Esther was mostly joyful to be around, although she had Azumi on the edge most of the time, too unpredictable. Monty, he was the one Azumi could relate to the most, probably because they were both from Kalos. He seemed to shy away a bit when her future sergeant called her to congratulate her on graduating, but he was a bit intimidating, so it made sense. What she couldn't understand though, was why Monty would disappear on his own for a handful of minutes and only take a stinky old sock with him. Specially after Azumi would get close to talk to him. Maybe he cherished that sock? She could ask about it later.
"Do you all have a hotel in mind or should we look for one? Oh, we should eat out. I do miss someone offering me the desserts menu..." She looked at Nico, "Not that I don't enjoy your cooking, it's excellent, I just love the service in a restaurant."
Esther
Tuesday – Afternoon July 19
Ogi City, Whirl Archipelago
Johto Region
Team On-hand: Pyrrha (Jangmo-o), Pariparisithea (Munna), Halay-Alae (Houndour), L’ Basseau (Surskit), La Bamba (Shellos) In Esther’s care: Feebas
It was a night of festivities and rightly so! The threat of Gamera-Blastoise had been vanquished and the Ogi city was no worse for wear. Sure, a few small buildings along the beach had been blown to smithereens and yea, they’d have to fill in a few craters by the beach, and maybe that Blastoise tripping stunt had damaged the Corsola reefs, but compared that to the amount of damage that could have been done? They were practically untouched!
That wasn’t all. Reina’s Chente had evolved into Ludicolo and the siesta pokémon had infected the locals with the happy-go-lucky cheer its species was known for. The town quickly came alive with the kind of energy that could only come from rambunctious children and rowdy adults: singing, dancing, and making merry. Under normal circumstances, Esther would've been in the thick of it.
These were not normal circumstances.
The pale-faced Oblivian stumbled through the back alleys of Ogi City with all the grace of a drunken amputee. She but barely managed to stay upright with one arm braced along the alley wall. The other hand half-covered, half-massaged her eyes. Her everything ached: each bruise and sprain asserted itself as Esther had known they would. But the sum of her bodily pains was a dull ached compared to the excruciating agony seated between her ears. It was as if a stampede of Tauros had run her over, but then—to ensure she was dead or wished she were—they’d circled around, and each delivered a firm HOOF to her head. A noisy party was the last place Esther wanted to be and it was what she was now escaping.
With the sun dipping below the horizon the city was awash with lights; they might as well have been floodlights and they might as well have been an inch from her face because her eyes protested with such wrath that Esther had been forced to find refuge in this very alley.
After a few moments, Esther dared to open her eyes and—Had they been painting the walls? Cause whoever had been sloppy in covering the ground and they’d gotten splotches of red everywhere. Oh, wait... A probing touch of her face came back wet and red.
“Oh, fudge...”
She had to get away from here.
Thankfully, Esther had been able to find somewhere quiet—outside the city’s limits. And thankfully, pokémon were stronger than they looked, because otherwise she’d still be collapsed somewhere along the city’s outskirts. Albeit, collapsed somewhere in the forest wasn’t much better but at least she had her quilt beneath her, so this was basically a camp. Maybe once her head stopped pounding, she’d set up her hammock and...yea, she should send a message to Reina, let them know she was fine...mostly. For now, she’d just have a little...nap...
