Private/Closed Sinnoh League Tounament

Nina had been leaning up against a wall, listening in on the conversation...and she was totally not eavesdropping. 'Boyfriend, huh? There goes that idea...and that June girl seems pretty much dead set on Ry, so...' That meant no luck today either. Oh well, that was par for the course. At least the battle was interesting, so coming here wasn't a COMPLETE waste of time. Still, she felt like she was forgetting something.

Oh...oh, that's right. Nina had a match soon. She looked down at the time on her PokeNav. 'Well snap. I need to get going.' Abandoning her mission, Nina leapt from the wall she was hiding behind and ran to the arena as fast as her legs could carry her.

Thanks to Shell Smash and the shield being removed, Minior was very quick and was able to dodge all but one flash cannon. Minior was badly injured but it still hovered in the sky.

"Earthquake, Now!" Luca said in a panicked tone. Luca knew thanks to shell smash, Minior's earthquake would be stronger but it's defence was now crappy. One more hit and Minior would faint.

Minior once again began to move the ground violently somehow. Minior was getting really tired so it hoped Aegislash would faint soon.

Minior once again began to move the ground violently somehow. Minior was getting really tired so it hoped Aegislash would faint soon.

The earthquake hit Excalibur hard leaving it within a couple hits of fainting, but Excalibur had trained for this moment it raced forward arms outstretched flash cannon charging in its core, it was hoping to grab minior while it was still busy with its attack

Mizu continued to counter Fuego's attacks and it's speed movements began to slow as it grew tired, "Come on Mizu, just hang in there," Landon muttered to himself but Mizu was getting tired and ended up getting hit by one of Fuego's Mach Punchs and was sent flying back. Landon ran to catch Mizu but ended up getting hit to the ground with Mizu.

"Landon!" Lyra cried as she ran off towards him. She helped get Mizu off of Landon, "Are you okay?" Lyra asked as she helped him get up, "Are you crazy?"

"I guess I am," Landon laughed as he got up in pain, holding his hand against his stomach, "How about you Mizu?" Mizu nodded. "Alright Ry we-" Landon called out before being cut off by Mizu, Landon looked at Mizu, then turned to Lyra.

Lyra smiled, "Wasn't it you who said to battle with everything you have and have no regrets," Lyra smiled as she gave him a pat on the back.

"Yeah, you're right," Landon smiled and turned to Mizu who nodded, "Mizu, Aqua Jet," Mizu smirked as it propelled itself like a rocket using Aqua Jet and heading straight for Fuego.

As Nina stood just outside the arena's entrance, she took a minute to organize her team. That Feralgatr wasn't going to be beaten using brute force alone. No, she could tell that it could easily beat any of her Pokémon in a one on one match. Her best chance was centering her entire team around weakening Feraligatr, and more importantly, surviving it's onslaught. Luckily for Nina, it seemed that this Feraligatr was specialized in physical attacks. As long as one of her many defensive Pokémon could survive just one hit from Feraligatr, it should be enough to set things in motion.

The announcer's voice boomed across the stadium, echoing in the arena's entrance. "The next battle is about to begin! Would both competitors please enter the arena?"

'There's my cue' Nina steeled herself as she entered the arena, ready for her toughest battle yet.

"That's the spirit. Fuego, counter with Flame Wheel!" Ry shouted, as he was ready to finish this battle up. Fuego rolled towards the Aqua Jet and the two collided creating a large explosion.

Flash Cannon Fainted Minior, its core falling onto the ground. Luca gasped in shock.

"Minior is unable to battle!" The Refuree yelled in a deep voice.

Luca quietly thought of who to choose for his next Pokemon.

"Weavile, Lets Go! use Night Slash!" Luca exclaimed while throwing his pokeball. In a flash, Weavile appeared. His left hand turned a bright purple colour as Weavile slashed at the Aegislash.

"King shield again!" Yelled Ajax knowing his aegislash couldn't take much more, but at least he could use excaliburs final turns to weaken weaviles attack
The barrier held barely as the claw attacks battered its shield each time weakening in power
"Now flash cannon while it's up close!" Yelled Ajax hoping to land one last solid hit before the end

Landon watched the smoke clear and saw Mizu was still standing but Landon could feel that Mizu was getting exhausted but still wanted to continue battling, "Fuego is able to rival our physical attacks with no problems, unless..." Landon got an idea, "Mizu use Ice Beam on the battlefield!" Mizu leaped up and shot multiple Ice Beams at the field covering the field in a layer of ice with ice spikes covering it as well, "Perfect, now Mizu, Metal Claw!" Mizu began running across the ice straight towards Fuego using Netal Claw

The attack hit, but didn't do much damage due to the 4x resistance, Fuego had. However the greater concern was the icy field, which was already causing Fuego to lose his balence, and the fact that fuego was gettin tired. "Mach Punch Climb!" Ry shouted, and Fuego immediately got the message. Fuego jammed on his glowing fists in the ice, completely destroyin a section of it. Then he leapt forward and continued to do the same thing, climbing up the ice. Then, as he was close he swung wildly, aiming for Mizu's gut.

Fuego's Mach Punch hit Mizu hard sending it flying and crashing through several ice spikes, "Mizu!" Landon ran out onto the field and saw Mizu had been knocked out, "Mizu you did great take a rest for now," Landon recalled Mizu and got up, "Well Ry, I guess you win," Landon commented as he shook Ry's hand.

"It was a really good battle," Lyra commented as she took Mizu's Pokeball and handed Landon Spike's Pokeball and Z-Ring, "Ry your Infernape seems to be in a league of its own," Lyra took out her Pokedex and checked the image compared to Ry's Infernape.

"It's the special training we've dobe n over the years." Ry said giving Fuego a fist pump, after he shook Landon's hand. Let's hope if we battle it will be even more intense."

June walked over. "Good job guys. Shouldn't you heal Fuego. He looks tired."

Fuego shook his head. "Fernape," He said beating his chest with pride.

"He wants to stay out for a while, so I'll let him." Ry said shrugging, giving a laugh.

"Great work Excalibur return, Go Navi!" Yelled Ajax as his shiny Sylveon appeared on the field
"Navi use calm mind then moonblast!" Navi stood still glowing with energy with its ribbons rising with power before the energy faded and the fairy type fired a large ball of pale energy

Weavile only just dodged the moonblast, he wasn't sure if he could keep dodging the Sylveon's powerful attacks.

"We prepared for Fairy types Weavile, Use Metal Claw!" Luca exclaimed. Weavile's right hand suddenly became metallic. The Dark and Ice type attempted to slash at the Sylveon with a super effective attack.

"Dodge it and moon blast again!" Yelled Ajax, Navi was used to avoiding steel attacks especially due to its prominence in battles recently, navi ducked and weaved around the field using rocks and cracks in the field to its advantage before firing orbs of pearl like energy toward weavile

Landon walked towards the stadium, the last battle of the Quarter-Finals had just ended, he knew he would need to know who his next opponent was for the Semi-Finals.

"Now Ladies and gentlemen, after the intense battling here at the Sinnoh League we now have our Top 4 Trainers for the Semi-Finals, further more, all battles will be 6 on 6 full battles, but without further ado here are the Semi-Finalists!" The announcer declared, images of the Semi-Finalists began to shuffle, until finally the match ups were shown. Landon looked at his opponent it was a face he recognized, it didn't hit him at first but he soon realized he would be facing off against Nina the trainer he battled before.

"Nina huh," Lyra commented as she walked over to Landon, "She's a strong trainer for sure." Lyra stared at the screen for a moment, "And it looks like Ry's opponent won't be a push over either."

"Yeah, well we're Semi-Finalists so what would you expect," Landon replied confidently, "Me and my Pokemon are going to the top, just watch us!" Landon yelled as he leaped into the air.

Nina stormed off from the entrance hall of the arena, fuming with anger. Her face was turning red from pure wrath. How dare this Connor guy not even show up for the match?! What kind of trainer has the gall to come this far in a tournament and not even take it seriously enough to show up? It wasn't as if he hadn't heard either: the announcer had called his name several times before the match started. But for whatever reason, he never showed up.

To Nina, this was an absolute disgrace. Therefore, she would have to make up for it. She resolved to show absolutely no mercy in the next round. Nina was done playing around. As she entered the stadium from the audience entrance to check the semi-final brackets, she noticed Landon and Lyra out of the corner of her eye. She had to mentally remind herself that the fairer of the two was taken. Unfortunately, that only made her more angry.

As she read over the brackets, Nina saw soemthing that surprised her a bit. Turns out that she would be fighting Landon in the semi-finals. Normally, Nina would take this time to assess the situation and plan out a sound strategy. Right now though, all she wanted to do was to let loose. It took all of Nina's self control to not start hurling a rainbow of colorful curses at that very moment.

"OI, YOU!" Nina yelled from behind Landon. "You had better be ready for tomorrow, got it?!" Not her proudest moment, shouting like a madwoman in public like that. Nina couldn't care less at the moment though.

Ajax stood there looking puzzled as the announcer called for a final time for his third round opponent to return to the field after a short intermission. Stadium staff members ran into the waiting room located at the opposite side of the field before returning again and announcing to the crowd that Luca had apparently disappeared thereby forfeiting the match. Ajax was initially shocked by this revelation but soon came to realise that Luca disappearance had saved him a lot of possible preparation and recovery time for the Semi-finals. Ajax looked up to the big screen to see his picture shuffled alongside three other trainers she had seen glimpses of during the tournament, before his picture suddenly stopped and was paired with Ry, a trainer Ajax had been paying careful attention to,

“Alright in our first Semi-final we have Ry vs Ajax!” yelled the announcer quickly overcoming the shock of Luca’s disappearance

“alright, looks like we have a battle to prepare for, come on Navi” muttered Ajax as he picked up his Sylveon and gave her a Sitrus berry to nibble on



~~~~~Two hours later~~~~~~



“by the looks of it we’ve got a very tough battle ahead of” said Ajax as the finished watching the latest of Ry’s battle videos “his sceptile is a very interesting case, but I know we can beat him, there’s nothing in the Sinnoh League rules about having a set team for the Semi-finals so I think we should take the battle how it comes. but enough about our opponent lets get some training done!” Ajax yelled as his pokemon all responded with enthusiastic cries. The group split off in all directions and set to work training and sparring with one another, Genji and Scar were quickly busy racing through tree tops while Nightwing, Starscream and Hot-rod set to work performing aerial maneuvers. Orisa and Reinhardt both took a fighting stance before charging toward each other and trying to throw the other to the ground. Puka and Argo begun to race each other across the choppy waters of the lake next to their camp site. Harmony and Smough also begun to wrestle with each other both normal types determined to prove who was the strongest. Finally Excalibur and Bastion were off to the side of the clearing sparring. Ajax wandered between the groups occasionally calling out command while the pokemon were pre-occupied to test their ability to perform tasks in a split second.



~~~~~Three hours later~~~~~



Ajax had finally called his pokemon in after a long and rather intense training session, he had sent Harmony and Nightwing off earlier to gather berries and wild vegetables while he heated a large pot of water over a roaring campfire “great work today guys, if we battle like we trained there is no way we’ll lose” said Ajax as he ladled out servings of hearty soup to each of his pokemon who each were given a handful of type specific pokeblocks from Harmony. “eat up guys then settle in for the night it’s going to be a big day tomorrow”

“In the first battle of our Semi-final round please welcome Ajax!!!!” yelled the announcer as the crowd roared in anticipation, Ajax walked out into the bright light of the Stadium a slight smile on his face, he waved to the spectators as he took his spot one of the trainers podiums. Ajax placed his hand on his belt and retrieved a slightly scratched Dusk ball

“Starscream let’s go!” yelled Ajax as his Skarmory appeared on the field before taking off and hovering 10 feet above the stadium “Lets that this battle off with spikes!”

Landon turned to Nina, "Please like I'd give up after making it to the Semi-Finals," Landon said gleefully, he noticed Nina was the exact opposite of happy, probably because her opponent never showed up. "And there goes the league," Lyra said jokingly as she dragged Landon off by the backpack, "Now come on Mr. Semi-Finalist you have some work to do."

When they had arrived back at the hotel, Lyra finally let go of Landon, "You don't need to drag me everywhere!" Landon complained. "You saw what happened to Nina right?" Lyra asked, Landon nodded, he felt bad for her and everyone else, "She's obviously not happy and she may take out her anger in the Semi-Finals." Landon pondered the statement by Lyra, he hadn't thought of that originally. "I think you should use Mizu in your Semi-Final battle instead of Zippy," Lyra commented as she handed Landon Mizu's Pokeball. Landon stared at the Pokeball for a moment, "No, I'm going to stick with the Pokemon I have right now," Landon replied. "Then you should at least switch your Z-Crystal to Firium Z or Fightinium Z!" Lyra exclaimed in a worry, but Landon shook his head, "I understand, it's just that, I'm worried about you going to the Semi-Finals and losing again," Lyra said as her head sulked. Landon walked up to Lyra and wrapped his arms around her, "I'm not going to lose, I promise to you and all of my Pokemon," Landon replied in a calm voice. "Alright but you have to keep that promise," Lyra said as she wrapped her arms around him.

The next morning Landon walked into the stadium with a determined look on his face, he wasn't going to lose, or at least he was going to try his hardest, "Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Sinnoh League Semi-Finals!" The announcer announced, "Now here are the two trainers who will be battling it out: it will be Landon from Twinleaf Town, going against Nina from Snowpoint City!" Landon took his place on the field and had a smile on his face, "Well here we go Nina!" Landon shouted as he readied a Pokeball, "Go Joy!" Landon threw his Pokeball as a Blissey burst out and gave a small dance.

When Ry had heard of his matchup, he wasn't really concerned. Sure his opponent was strong, but he just had to work out a few strategies.

The next morning when he arrived, Ajax took the initiative and sent out his Skarmory and used spikes. "I'd bether send out the ground units now. Go Fuego!" Ry shouted sending out his ace. The Infernape glared at Starscream, while Spikes fell around him.

"Okay, let's go with a Flamethrower!" Ry shouted as Fuego opened his mouth. Fuego bellowed fire in the direction of the airborne Skarmory.

Ajax and stsrscream has been expecting something like this
"Protect then use stealth rock this time!" Yelled Ajax as the flames from Fuego's attack collided with skarmory's barrier pushing the Armor Bird Pokémon back a coupon feet. The attack and barrier soon subsided as Starscream flew fly into the air away from Fuegos reach and fired another thin layer of spikey rocks across the battlefield,
"Now use solar aerial ace!" Yelled Ajax as his Pokémon flew directly toward the sun before spinning in mid air to attack the fire fighting type using the suns light as a way of concealing its movement, Skarmony dived hard toward Feugo light reflecting off its steel like body and into the eyes of spectators

Nina tried to be as analytical as she could, despite her fury. It didn't exactly work. She got about as far a realizing that Landon's Blissey was a normal type, had weak physical defense, and would probably be very annoying to deal with. Without a second thought, she brought out Zen, being one of her hardest hitters. "Zen, get out here and Bulk Up!" Without missing a beat, the Medicham began inhaling and exhaling as soon as he landed on the battlefield, his muscles tensing up. 'That's right Zen, just keep building up your power, and then we lay the smack down!'

"Flame Wheel!" Ry shouted, not missing a beat. He spun harshly and tried to slam his flaming body into Starscream's underbelly, effectively avoiding the attack.

The attack hit Skarmony dead in the side throwing the steel flying type into a large rock across the field
"Starscream climb now!" Yelled Ahax as he knew he would need to retreat and reassess the situation Starscream lumped to its feet slightly before rising rapidly and hovering once again high above the field
"Use toxic and aim straight down!" Yelled Ajax as purple blobs begin to fall from Skarmony's mouth the first few missed completely causing the ground to sizzle slightly however the following globs drew closer to Fuego each time

"Dodge with Bulk Up!" Ry shouted. Fuego ran in the opposite direction of the sludge blobs while flexing his muscles and glowing in a pale orange light.

"Now Mach Punch!" Fuego ran up a rock, with his fist glowing with a pale white light. He did a backflip and launched himself into the air. He flew towards Starsream, and aimed a powerful punch, at the steel and flying type Pokemon's head.

"Shock Wave let's go!" Landon called in response, Joy generated some electricity and shot it straight at Zen, 'Bulk Up raises Physical Defense not Special so Shock Wave should do some damage' Landon thought to himself as the Shock Wave travelled towards Zen.

'Not good. There's no way to dodge a Shock Wave...guess I'll have to get creative!' Throwing caution to the wind, Nina called out to Zen. "Charge straight into it Zen! Use the electricity to power up a Thunder Punch!" Eager to make up for his lackluster performance in the 2nd round, the Medicham complied and took the attack head on, doing his best to ignore the pain and charging electricity in his fist as he ran on a crash course towards Joy.

The Thunder Punch hit Joy hard from the Bulk Up, "Joy, Return," Landon quickly recalled his Blissey and took out another Pokeball, "Flowy let's go!" Landon threw the Pokeball and a Victreebel burst out and gave a menacing look to Zen, "Use Vine Whip!" Flowy launched it's vine at Zen hoping to grab it.

"Dodge it!" Yelled Ajax as starscream flew higher into the sky just out of Fuegos reach, the energy from its attacks only a foot or two away from Skarmony
"Now toxic while its close" Starscream fired a barrage of purple blobs at the flame Pokémon as it came to the peak of its jump

 

[Ry_Burst]

"Flame Wheel!" Was the cry that immediately escaped Ry's mouth. As Fuego's arm missed and swung back down, he used his mid-air momentum to launch himself farther, this time engulfed in spinning flames. The Toxic dissolved against the searing hot flames as Fuego aimed a strike for Skarmory's left wing.

"Now!" Yelled Ajax Starscream tucked in its wings and did a harsh barrel roll to the right dodging the majority of the attack but the flames still licked at the skarmony' side dealing some damage

But Skarmory still was the winner of that rumble. You see, one thing about Infernapes is the basic fact, they can't fly. Fuego, slipped out of his Flame Wheel, and in a straight fall, he crashed into the ground, with a big crater from the high distance. Fuego had blocked his fall with his arm, effectively injuring that part of him. Fuego stood up, clenching his teeth, and holding his left arm, and Ry realized what had happened.

"Fuego return, Go Star!" Ry shouted sending out his high flying Staraptor, after returning Fuego to his Pokeball. Internally, Ry scolded himself.

"I got to reckless and Fuego got hurt pretty bad. I'll have to try to win without him if I can. I don't want to have to further the exept of his injury."

"Okay Star, let's go with Close Combat!" Ry shouted. Stat spread her wings and gave a battle cry and dove towards Starscream. She tried to bat at the Skarmory harshly with a flutter of kicks and smacks from her wings and feet.

The attack hit Star-scream hard knocking her out of the sky and into the large pool which was situated in the center of the field, the water cushioned the Pokémon’s fall. she gave her wings a quick flap and tried to retake her place high in the sky

"that's enough star-scream no need to put you through any more" yelled ajax as he stepped of his podium and walked out onto the field, star-scream came to meet with him before stumbling and falling to the ground Ajax held up Star-scream’s Pokeball as she was engulfed in a red flight before disappearing entirely

"she's very proud and will fight until she collapses" yelled Ajax as he retook his place behind the podium and grabbed his next Pokeball “Puka you’re up!” Another red flash reveals an Alolan Raichu “Puka lets start off with electric terrain then electro ball storm!” Puka lets out a cry as electricity surges from its tail out onto the ground of the battle field creating a slightly buzzing sound, Puka flies around the field as a small topaz coloured orb charges in its hands, Puka starts flying faster and faster around Star making full use of its Surge surfer ability before firing a wave of small electrical balls at Star from all directions.

"Dodge it Star!" Ry shouted. Star flew around the Electro balls, weaving around them swiftly. And just when it looked like she had completely dodged thenattack, a final one slammed into her torso, sending her spiraling into the ground.
"You okay Star?" Ry asked. The Staraptor nodded and Ry shouted, "Use Brave Bird."

While streaked in blue energy, Stat flwe ahead and charged her opponet.

The electro balls which missed star all hit the pool of water in the center of the field causing it to sizzle and spark with electricity
"Use electro wall just like we trained for!" Yelled Ajax as Puka's eyes lit up due to its psychic attack as wall of water rose from the central pool to form an electrified barrier between Puka and Star, a barrier Star was heading directly for

 

[Ry_Burst]

There was only one option at this point. Keep going forward. Star slammed through the electrified water, cutting through it with an extreme speed, like a knife cutting butter. However Star took some damage, that was quite serious. However she kept going and charged in a light blue energy aiming for the Alolan Raichu. As she flew, stones flew up alongside her dealing heavy damage. This one attack, was costing her a lot of damage so, Ry had to make it count.

“Puka use thunderbolt and fly away!” Yelled Ajax as both he and Puka both were amazed by how easily Star had pieced the electric barrier, Puka lent back on its tail and quickly spun around in mid air, Star grew closer every second as Puka swerved violently to the left using its superior turning capabilities to turn inside Star’s left side. Puka fired a quick thunderbolt before flying off again. Flying in tight circles in a continued attempt to steer clear of Star’s glowing body.

 

[Ry_Burst]

The Thunderbolt shocked Star she kept her momentum, and flew straight into the air. As the Brave Bird faded, the recoil damage set in, delivering heavy damage. The Staraptor could barely move. But she had to. Both her and Ry knew this would be her final attack for this battle. After the electrich attacks, and the recoil, she was practically done for.

"Brave Bird!" Star did a nose dive straight for Puka while glowing with a light blue enegy. She slanted her wings for extra speed as she darted downward.

"PUKA! Thunderbolt again and aim for its head" Puka spun around and charged a thunderbolt using the surrounding electrical energy to further increase the attacks power.
Star flew closer and closer with each second, once Star was mere seconds from impact Puka released the attack directly toward Star's energy coated head plume
