Zed
The blue blur lived up to his name as he skillfully avoided Zed’s attacks, suddenly zooming behind the Adept before switching directions, curling into a ball to slam right into his face, Zed swinging his golden blade in response—- but it had been a feint, Sonic somehow altering his trajectory midair, speeding into the young man’s back. Zed was sent stumbling forward, managing to regain his footing, when he heard rumbling coming from a nearby wall.

Quite suddenly, the wall gave out, chunks of concrete flying towards the Golden Trillion, who swung his weapon to slice the closest ones in half one chunk slamming into his left arm., He managed to briefly spot Pyro on the other side of the wall, the ceiling above about to fall on top of Zed. With a snap, the Adept shot a single feather at Pyro like a bullet, aiming to tag him.

Regardless of the result, Zed would make use of his Solis Rotem, the ceiling crashing down as he conjured a large explosion, several birds emerging from it and flying upwards. The force of Zed’s attack proved powerful enough to practically punch a hole through the falling ceiling, saving the young man from being crushed. Should the tag on Pyro work successfully, he would use his Lux Assault to warp behind the arsonist, a set of burning blades raining down on the man.
Jack
Ribombee was down, leaving just a dozen contestants alive. Belowski seemed to agree as long as the duck was kept under control, while the girl was far less trusting. The Ghostrunner’s head turned towards the still immobilized Psyduck in his hand. While the cyborg had no real facial features, there was an aura of seriousness to him. No playing games with him.

“Will you stay ‘chill’?”

PYRO

Head cocked to the side, they gave a quizzical hum as a feather fired from between the collapsing debris, and struck the maniac's shoulder. Taking a step back, they glanced down at the wound, before noticing Zed zap away. Having seen that move before, the Pyro turned on the spot, raising the degreaser once again in time to see flaming swords hailing down upon them.

Firing the secondary mechanic again, the burst of compressed air actually seemed capable of blasting away incoming attacks---and every sword was suddenly blasted right back at Zed's face, almost at point-blank range, while Pyro tugged the feather out of their shoulder and tossed it aside with a triumphant, though muffled laugh.

Zed
Despite having landed a Lux Assault, his wing had not returned. It seemed it would take more of those to get it back.

The blast of compressed air was deceptively powerful, enough to reflect Zed’s Dea Lacrimae, keeping Pyro safe. Luckily for the Adept, the angle that the golden blades had been dropped at resulted in them being reflected skyward, vanishing after a few seconds.

“Not bad,” Zed noted, the flame in his free hand glowing brighter as a series of fiery birds appeared behind Pyro, aiming to fly into him from behind. Zed would then quickly approach with his Eclipse Solaire, unleashing a flurry of burning slashes!

Masaru Takahara

"Ah...crap." Masaru groaned as he realised the fiery dome was closing on him - There was no way his bulk would fit through the gaps, even with Sonic's shockwave dispersing even more of the birds, and Pyro had followed the hedgehog. Plus, with all his moves starting to wear on him, it wasn't like he'd have a shot at taking them all out. So, he knew he had to tank it - Just like oldish times, huh?
THWOOM!
The dome closed in on Masaru, soon dispersing itself afterwards as it left the martial artist. He was still living, on one knee mind, but that time to focus instead of fighting it off made the difference. Still, he needed a moment, staying there and panting as he patted down the flames and the like that were on his skin and clothes.

"One more hit like that..." He muttered, worried. Still, with the Pyromaniac and the hedgehog fighting Zed, he decided he could spare the moment - At least, he hoped.

PYRO

They didn't notice the birds that erected from behind, and upon being it, the Pyro lurched forward with a grunt, though notably suffered no additional damage from the flames, only the impact dealing any real harm. The degreaser's secondary fire was proving invaluable against someone like Zed, who'd already shown a strong resistance to fire, which was the Pyro's primary mode of battle.

Despite being launched into Zed's attack, the Pyro had already fired again, with Zed sailing right into the middle of the attack, nearly closing the distance between them, and instead being forced to suffer the hardest hit the compressed air could deliver, aiming to knock the Golden Trillion into a nearby pile of rubble, notably with sharp metal, rebar, and jagged concrete making up a lot of its composition.

Following this, the Pyro replaced their axe, now holding up a small red gun and taking aim with the detonator, but held fire, waiting for the results, and Zed's inevitable counter-attack.

Psyduck
The Duck was suddenly airborne. A fellow bird had picked him up, and was flying him in the air to kill him with gravity! Psyduck struggled flutily, and now Eitri had shot a blade of wind at him! The Pokémon blasted a Hydro Pump at no target in particular, but rather was using the recoil to swing himself around and disorient Happy Lover, causing it to let him go! Psyduck fell to the ground, but was intercepted by metal hands.

Jack held his head as they discussed a truce, much to Psyduck's dismay. Not that he could do much, either, struggling with his weak, stubby limbs and firing off Hydro Pumps at no target. They succeeded on coming to a truce, but not before killing Ribombee. The Duck started to doubt Jack being a Pokémon at all as he asked for Psyduck to chill. Which, he was starting to do so against his will. He began to feel drowsy despite his headache raging on. His eyes slid to look at Jack angrily, as he muttered a single word to the cyborg:

"Psyduck."

With that, the energy of Zen Headbutt manifested, repelling the Ghostrunner's hands and allowing Psyduck to fall to the ground.

Bonk!

BOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

Psyduck's headache peaked when his skull made contact with the concrete, and psychic energy exploded from his skull. It enveloped the building they were on, heavily endangering Jack, Belowski, and especially the sleepy Eitri, but ironically not Leon.

Bowser
The boulder impacting Karby decimated the car inside him as the ball struck him with incredible force, thick, red-hot iron spikes digging into and burning his skin, not to mention Karby also had to deal with the ground as the mass would crush and grind him into the road at an angle.

Meanwhile, Bowser had lasers to deal with. He entered his shell, readjusting this position so that the thicker side faced the incoming fire and spinning rapidly. The sturdy shell soaked and deflected most of the incoming fire despite his energy weakness, with only trace percentages of the lasers able to slip through the crack in his shell. Then, as Omega was charging up a larger laser, Bowser oriented his spikes with the ground and accelerated himself downwards. He bounced off the pavement and onto his side, wheeling forward for a second before exiting his shell and appearing next to Omega in a flash.

"You missed."

With a taunt, King Koopa blasted another deadly swath of flame from his jaws. However, he expected Omega to dodge, in which case he'd adjust his aim accordingly.

Eitri

As Eitri watched, energy began to swirl around the duck's head. A lot of energy. The Sage did not need Grim Brokkr to sense just how much energy this small creature was building up. It was then that Eitri had to come to terms with a terrible fact.

She had miscalculated.

0.2 seconds.

Perhaps it was due to Belowski's chill aura. Perhaps it was an effect of this strange arena they fought in. Perhaps it was her own hubris catching up to her. But this strange, duck creature was much, much more powerful than she had originally believed. And now, as she watched, this strange duck slipped from Jack's grasp. Any moment, it would release the energy it was building up. And Eitri was out of time.

0.5 seconds.

The sage did the only this she could. Eitri grabbed Belowski from behind, wrapping her arms around the teen and putting Belowski between herself and the Psyduck.

0.8 seconds.

The Psyduck struck the ground, releasing it's buildup of energy. Powerful plasma exploded outwards, racing away from the Pokemon and looking to destroy anything in it's path.

0.85 seconds.

The familiar golden hexagons of her Divine Recreation shield appeared, encircling Eitri and just barely containing Belowski as well. Just below the golden shield, the magical energies of the Pair Up ability swirled around the kids for extra protection. The volatile plasma struck the shield, knocking Eitri off her feet. She held on to Belowski with all the might she could muster as the pair were pushed by the explosion through the building. Eitri could feel her ribs crack as she smashed through an interior wall, then out the opposite side of the building. Her Divine Recreation shield shattered, and she was barely concious once again as the pair plummeted towards the ground.

The building, heavily damaged from this massive explosion, began to groan and lean as it began to collapse!

"Oh."

Psyduck had no intentions on playing nice. As they decided to crack down below, sending a cascading effect to the building. He braced for impact as energy whizzed by him, but to no avail. as the blast rushed toward him, a familiar ally rushed to his aid, projecting a protective sphere around the pair, right as all 3 Mokey Mokeys were destroyed in the blast!

The proceeding tumble knocked him around, and made him dizzied, unable to bring out his hand, let alone lay a card down. So as they began to plummet toward the ground, the foggy headed boy could only groan.

"Uaaah..."

LEON

"Ugh..."

He lifted his head, tiredness quickly becoming replaced with adrenaline as the agent pushed himself up, glancing about. What the hell...? He could hear the distant sounds of battle, and even more distant were the booms of other fights, sounds echoing around the walls of the cities buildings.

He had to get back to the others. Making sure he still had all his equipment, Leon glanced about, and started to race toward the nearest sounds of conflict, before he did a double-take and stopped in his tracks, eyes locking on a motorcycle sitting beside a red truck. Both seemed relatively fine, this block of the city mostly untouched. Just residue dust lingered. He couldn't help but grin. This was perfect.

Not much later, the revving of a motorcycle signalled Leon's movements, as he peeled out onto the road, and accelerated the gas, peeling around some piles of debris, just in time to notice a brilliant explosion light up the sky, rapidly followed by the boom of Psyduck's blast.

It sounded... strangely familiar. Like he'd had a dream about that duck, and that blast, once before. He looked up to see the building that marked his destination getting blasted to smithereens. Kicking the motorcycle to its limits, Leon made a quick turn, hitting a large chunk of debris resting against a pile just right, to bound the motorcycle up, getting surprising air, and Leon landed on top of a convenience store, before he used his own weight and the roof's ledge to launch the motorcycle higher.

Sailing through the air, Leon landed atop the building beside the one blasting apart, witnessing Eitri and Belowski fly out of the top in time to see them start to fall. The back of the motorcycle slid as he landed, and the DSO Agent skillfully drove across the rooftop as debris began to rain down, before he used the same method as before to launch himself and the motorcycle into the air. He'd timed it just right, time feeling as though it had slowed as he sailed through the gaps of debris, beelining right toward Eitri and Belowski...

Almost...

"I've got you!" Leon shouted, both hands off the motorcycle as he grabbed both kids, quickly placing Eitri behind him, making sure she fastened her arms around his middle, while he sat Belowski in front of him. Holding one arm to Belowski's chest to keep the scrawny kid from getting hurt, they came out of the other end of the falling debris, lurching toward the street below. "Hang on!"

They hit the ground hard, the motorcycle bouncing as it made contact, the suspension pushed so much that the bottom of the bike hit the ground, sending sparks flying, but they remained steadied, even despite Leon only using one arm to steer, as his other acted as a seat belt for Belowski. Turning the wheel, Leon skid the motorcycle to a halt, and placed his boot on the ground to balance it. Slightly panting from the excitement, Leon looked at Belowski, then at Eitri. "You two okay?"

.
..
...

They were saved?

He didn't know quite how to process this as he was sat right in front of Leon, pushing his hat down so Leon could see over it. As they sailed forward, Belowski had a wide smile on his face. A smile that hid what he was thinking inside. Well...maybe being on a motorcycle for the first time was a part of it too. After they skid to a halt, Belowski recoiled a bit from the sudden stop as their driver checked their condition.

"You two okay?" Leon asked.

"Haha, yeah. But I don't get it." Belowski responded, looking up at him with a vacant smile. "You want to go home, you said that. But wouldn't it have been convenient for you to not save us? So why did you if it's gonna make you getting home that much harder?"

Zed
Another blast of air struck Zed, this one more powerful due to the closer range, and he practically felt the air being knocked out of him as he was sent flying towards the pile of sharp rubble. Without his wing to redirect him out of the way, he had no choice but to envelop himself in flames, his Golden Trillion glowing brightly as he crashed into the pile of debris.

BOOM!

Blazing debris went flying outward upon Zed’s collision, the Adept coming out of the other end still ablaze, rolling along the ground roughly as his flames vanished. While he had endured the hit, it seemed his Septima hadn’t fully protected him, some cuts present along his arms and back, the former having been brought up for protection.

“…your tenacity is impressive. The same goes for the rest of your group.” Zed commented, rising to his full height. “But you’re on your last legs.”

Another feather was fired at Pyro for tagging purposes, Zed swinging an arm to summon another set of Dea Lacrimae from above Pyro. Their outfit was fireproof, but the impacts could still be felt. They couldn’t dodge forever.

Jack
“Shit.”

Time slowed down for the Ghostrunner as a magenta blast caused him to drop Psyduck. Despite his enhancements, he had little time to work with, his sensors warning him of the mass amounts of psychic energy building up within Psyduck. This was bad.

Pushing his acceleration module to its limits, Jack dashed backwards in a split second as Psyduck fell, the cyborg managing to sail off the edge of the building before disaster struck.

Psyduck’s explosive wave burst outwards, the top of the building crumbling, concussive force and psychic energy slamming into Jack, the combined power overwhelming him.

CRITICAL ERROR

REBOOTING

When he came to a couple moments later, he was still falling. The blast had sent him a ways down the street, the distance increased due to his acceleration module, resulting in him moving much faster horizontally than he fell. Zooming past a nearby lamppost, he managed to fire his gap jammer, the durable wire wrapping around it, slowing the cyborg down and altering his trajectory, now sending him sideways and closer to the ground, right into a window.

He came to an abrupt stop as he slammed into a wall, cracks spiderwebbing along it. A normal human would not have survived that blast. Examining his damage, he noticed the entire front of his body had been charred, his optical sensors partially burnt by the blast, black spots clouding his vision. Some of his internals had been damaged, likely limiting his use of Tempest and Overlord, though the latter rarely came into play. There were no Atma chips here.

What mattered was that he was still alive. And the lack of booming thunder meant the kids had managed to survive too, at least for the time being. Thank goodness.

“What the hell happened?”

Right. The aura was gone, meaning the Architect had returned. Seeing the Ghostrunner in this condition was probably distressing for someone involved in his creation.

“Long story,” GR-74 replied. “Do what you can to fix me up.”

“Ah, as if it were that easy…”

Following the Architect’s grumbling, Jack managed to stand back up, looking out the window he’d crashed through to spot Leon and the kids on top of a motorcycle, somehow having made it out of that mess. Wasting not a single moment, the Ghostrunner leapt out of the window, still in pretty good physical shape despite what had just happened. He was built to last, after all.

“Everyone alright?” His semi-robotic voice echoed through the street as he landed, quickly approaching the trio. He noticed his voice came out slightly warped. Yet another thing to patch up.

LEON

He wasn't given much time to process what he'd just done, or what had led to the explosion. He cast a glance to the sky to see the count had ticked down one. Who'd died? Belowski's question was what made Leon set aside his other thoughts for a moment. He looked down at the kid, before he kicked the motorcycle's stand into place, then picked the kid up and placed him on the ground, before he stood up himself, helping Eitri off the bike if she needed it as well.

"It's... not as simple as that, I guess," Leon answered, turning back to the kid, feeling the need to lower himself onto a knee to be eye-level with Belowski. "I do want to go home, I hate to think of what might happen to the people I care about, but I can't just let a couple kids die. Not on my watch. That's not who I am." He gave Belowski a small smile. "Even if it kills me, I'll do what I can to make sure you two make it out of this. Even if it's impossible, even if only one can make it out... I'll still try."

It was at that moment that the robot appeared. Leon, unaware of the truce, immediately conjured Matilda, aiming her toward Jack, though he held his fire as it spoke. "Better than you, by the looks of it," Leon replied, uncertain if it had been a friendly greeting, or otherwise. It didn't seem non-threatening, but being out of the loop, Leon had no reason to think Jack still wasn't the enemy.

Belowski

"...Huh..."

Giving Eitri an eye to make sure she was alright, he looked to the ground for a second, processing what Leon had told him.

"Ohhh, I still don't get it. But I think that's kinda the point. I'm not supposed to get it." Belowski rubbed his eyes. "You have your zen and I got mine, and we are different dudes with different lives. Dealt different hands and got our own decks. Livin' by your own balance, man, who could ask more? Guess I should apologize for being so weird n' stuff before. Felt almost like I was the man there for a sec."

He turned to go help Eitri, but before he dedicated, he turned his head halfway to Leon first, out of earshot of her.

"Oh, and if getting us home is what you're worried about, then only one of us wants to. She's been tryin' real harder than anybody to get back. If someone has to go back home, I guess it would be her."

Belowski was fine staying here if she left. All they needed to do was just surrender, right? And then they could spend the rest of the time in the arena? At least he could see stars. Real ones. He hadn't seen real stars in ages.

Kneeling down to help Eitri, as she was sure not to be feeling great after her ribs broke, Belowski tried to examine her for damage, but he wasn't exactly a doctor. So all he could do was look for anything bent weird or discolored...and part of her chest looked a bit black and blue.

"Hang in there, Eitri. While I dont got any healing stuff out this time, I do have one shady hat." He tried to break her pain with humor, placing the poofy hat on her head. "You've been through worse, right? Want me to make you some tea?"

Eitri

Suddenly, they were falling no more. They had been caught. Even though she was still stunned from the explosion and the impacts, by some instinct Eitri was able to hold tightly around Leon.

Miscalculation after miscalculation.

It was Belowski who was supposed to bear the brunt of that attack, and yet she was the one that was hurting. Somehow, Leon was able to survive, and was the one that had saved them. Eitri stayed quiet, holding onto Leon.

"You too okay?" Leon asked. Eitri thought for a moment. Was she okay? The answer was still, clearly, no. Once again, she had managed to evade death by the skin of her teeth. She was starting to get sloppy. And that lead to other thoughts. This place, these strange, glowing walls of almost divine energy. Was she outside the power of the divine dragon? Would it's powers reach her here? It had worked in other worlds, but this one was... different.

"No." Eitri said quietly. Shakily, the girl got off the bike and sat down. Another voice spoke up, the metal man. He too had survived the attack. And yet, there was still no sign of the number going down. The duck was still alive, at least for now. Eitri extended a hand towards Jack, as green magic began to swirl around it. She didn't attack yet, as Leon hadn't, and winced in pain as she felt a jab of pain in her side. Belowski spoke quietly to Leon. Did he know that she had tried to sacrifice him, to save herself?

Belowski approached her, kneeling down to her level. Eitri could tell in an instant that was not the case. She winced again, putting down her hand as Belowski inspected her for wounds.
"Hang in there, Eitri. While I dont got any healing stuff out this time, I do have one shady hat." Belowski said. With a small poof, her hat was placed back on her head, and Belowski smiled at her. "You've been through worse, right? Want me to make you some tea?"
Eitri struggled back to her feet, still glancing around the area.
"Soon... Belowski." Eitri said. "Still too many... threats about."

The sage looked over to Jack with a frown.
"If you want to fight... then lets go..." Eitri said to Jack. "I grow... weary of this..."

Jack
The threat of the gun caused Jack to stop before he could get close. The agent had been unconscious for most of the fight, so of course he was still wary of the Ghostrunner. He couldn’t blame him.

“I told you before,” Jack replied, remaining at a distance, reaching an arm behind his back to slowly draw his sword, keeping the other hand up, palm facing the others for what must’ve been the third time in the last five minutes. “I don’t want to fight you.”

Holding his weapon out to the side, the Ghostrunner proceeded to drop it, the blade hitting the ground with a metallic clang. It was something he hadn’t done since Mara’s coup. No better way to make himself clear, even if it left him defenseless.

“Have you lost your mind?”

Jack walked a little closer to the trio, stopping a couple feet in front of them and the bike, crouching to eye level with Eitri and subsequently Belowski, damaged face plate staring into them.

“I want to help.”

LEON

The robot held out his blade... and let go, the weapon dropping. Almost immediately, though hesitantly, Leon pulled back Matilda, holding her at his shoulder as Jack neared, and spoke to Belowski directly.

"I want to help."

"I believe you," Leon replied in kind, before he stuck out his arm to the kneeling Jack, only after Belowski had responded. "Name's Leon."

His arm was held out as a gesture with multiple meanings. On the surface it would have seemed like an offer to help Jack rise back to his feet (which was clearly not the intent), but Leon's intention was for it to symbolize the union of their alliance. Considering Jack's words, he'd seemingly already attempted an alliance before. Perhaps the duck had tried foiling that.

"No offense, if you liked that duck thing, but it's still a problem," he was sure to add, nothing the sky counter remained firmly at 12, and hadn't shifted since the explosion.

Sonic the Hedgehog
“Uh oh!

Sonic leapt back as the wall collapsed, the Hedgehog himself also being within the danger zone due to his close proximity to Zed. He narrowly avoided the falling debris, bouncing between a few falling pieces of ceiling and leaping up high into the air, ending up on the second story of another building close by. “Hey, watch out for friendly hedgehogs, man!” The blue blur yelled to his teammate, though more with slight annoyance than genuine aggression.

The asbestos-lined man(?) and Birdbrain went at it for a moment while Sonic got distracted by a large purple beam shooting up into the sky in the distance, along with the sound of a collapsing building. It seemed like some of the others weren’t exactly relaxing either. Sonic then redirected his attention back to Pyro and Zed, the latter summoning some sort of projectile and launching it at Pyro while also summoning more of those birds before. The hedgehog crossed his arms and frowned slightly with a grunt of disappointment. Was that really all this guy had? Seemed this dog only had a few tricks and wasn’t interested in learning new ones.

The blue hedgehog leapt curled into a ball and rolled down the side of the building, carrying his momentum along the ground to quickly reach the fight between his teammate and Birdbrain. As soon as he reached the two, he ran around in a circle around the area repeatedly, quickly causing a small cyclone to pick up in the area! This cyclone dispersed Zed’s fire birds and likely threw him off-balance due to his weakened state, which Sonic planned to take advantage of. The Hedgehog switched his running path, sprinting directly behind Zed and going in for a quick kick to his back!

E-123 Omega
Morton the big friendly turtle took advantage of the laws of physics to propel himself downwards quickly, narrowly avoiding the laser and appearing next to Omega impressively quickly. However, the Koopa was overconfident, already stating that the machine had missed. However, the laser was constant and still firing!

In one smooth motion, E-123 spun his torso and arms around to face Bowser, immediately putting the laser back in his face! However, his legs, and jet booster by association, stayed facing opposite Bowser, which allowed Omega to jet boost away from the koopa king effectively. With this maneuver, the machine had effectively managed to create space between the two once more and hopefully overwhelm the Koopa with the laser blast!

Belowski

The duelist frowned at this. Eitri wasn't gonna let up. As much as he wanted her to relax, she wasn't going to. And it was just gonna make her get in more and more pain because of it. Looking at how bad her total wounds have been, she wouldn't stand a whole lot more. Especially not from attacks as big a scale as that last one.

"Well, judgin' by the lack of numbers changin' up top, I think that duck thingy is still out and about. Sooo as unchill as it sounds, I don't think we can rest just yet. That's a bummer, was lookin' to catch some Z's..." he yawned. "Would be kinda messed up to bite the big one while we are conked out. So, we should take out that duck monster. Then we'll catch some shut eye, eh?"

LEON

Belowski similarly interpreted the duck as a threat, but as Leon glanced toward Eitri, who was having difficulty balancing where she stood, he knew options were limited. Not only was the duck something that needed to be handled, but so were Morton and Birdbrain (whatever their real names were. Leon felt pretty confident that the turtle was some kind of Mario character). Quickly making a decision, and judging by Jack's willingness to aid them (as well as Belowski's advantage with summons), Leon looked back toward the kid.

"Eitri's in no condition to go running around, fighting psychic birds. I'm going to do what I can to help her recover, but what she really needs is rest... something we can't afford just yet. We still have other big bads trying to kill people..." the agent let out a sigh, before he shook his head. "But yeah, that duck thing can't be allowed to do this again. Take Jack with you. Do what you think is necessary."

With a look about, Leon noticed a nearby apartment complex that hadn't been touched by any of the fighting yet. He pointed toward it. "Eitri and I will hole up there until you guys get back, alright?" As he spoke, he was already pulling out herbs from his pockets, beginning to make a concoction as he had before.

PYRO

As fortune would have it, the mercenary was spared from taking a hard blow, as the blu blur had intervened, running fast enough to vortex Zed's attack away, before he zipped behind the fellow flame enthusiast to deliver a kick to the back. Simultaneously, the Pyro fired the detonator, aiming for Zed's legs. With he'd likely be resistant or immune to the flame's effects, the detonator would erupt in a concussive explosion, dealing concussive damage. If things went according to plan, Zed would be wholly unstabled, as both the kick and the explosive would knock him to the ground.

Without waiting for the results, the Pyro again conjured the fire axe, and charged forward with a muffled laugh, axe raised high above their head, racing forward to try and swing it down on the Golden Trillion's skull.

"Huh, you'd do that? Well alright, I trust ya dude." Belowski said, slightly wobbling as he stood up. "Hopefully we don't take long though...I wanna take a long nap with all my monster bros."

Belowski wasn't accustomed to staying awake for these long periods of time. But he'd do what he could to...what was he gonna say? Oh yeah. Help. So he lazily rolled his head to jack without moving his neck.

Bowser
The robot was quicker at turning than he'd expected, so King Koopa raised his arms, and a huge iron boulder appeared instantaneously. It was as large as Bowser's own body; ample protection from the blast as he took a deep inhale. Then he let loose, raising the boulder as the fiery plasma from his mouth clashed with Omega's charge attack. More deep red flames blossomed outwards from beneath Bowser's feet to discourage Kirby from attacking, and the Koopa ended up chucking the massive boulder, charged with plasma, at the retreating robot as the turtle kept up spewing flames.

Psyduck
The Duck's headache had manifested itself with great destruction, but as soon as it appeared it went again- and he began falling. He wasn't in the right headspace to save himself at the moment, but his subconscious, in control of the rapidly depleting psychic power, acted in self preservation. As the magenta energy sputtered, a quick burst launched Psyduck into an opening in an adjacent building, where he'd rest for a little bit...

Zed
His attack was knocked off course by the hedgehog, his speed forming a cyclone that prevented Zed's Dea Lacrimae from landing. While he managed to keep his footing, the Adept could not predict Sonic's moves, causing a kick to hit him square in the back, sending him stumbling forwards, before an explosion went off at his feet, knocking Zed to the ground.

Both Pyro and Sonic closed in on him, ready to deliver a devastating blow---when a flash of golden light enveloped the Golden Trillion, and the attacks bounced off of him. The light vanished, revealing Zed to be hovering within a scarlet barrier, rising a few feet off the ground.

"You've done remarkably well. But this is where we part!" Zed exclaimed, golden flames bursting from each of his hands, the barrier itself glowing brightly now. Now he could show them the full might of his Golden Trillion. The power of the Sun!
Ring of fire encircles a world in twilight
Flame becomes my sword and wings
Crimson expands endlessly into hope
"Legitima Futura!!!"

As Zed called out the name of his greatest attack, a large flock of burning birds rained from above, headed for Sonic, Pyro, and even Masaru! Following this, two rows of Rexcaliburs would drop down from both sides of Zed, aiming to cut all of his foes, a series of blazing golden flowers spreading throughout the area upon impact.
"Authority of the crown, carve into the earth!"

Finally, the barrier surrounding Zed would shift into fire, forming a rapidly expanding ring of powerful flames that would cover a massive area, the ultimate attack aiming to burn all of his foes to cinders!

"The world shall be reborn!!"

Jack
Jack took Leon's hand, cementing their alliance. "I'm Jack," the Ghostrunner replied as he stood up. Everyone took notice of the still-unmoving number in the sky, agreeing on the fact that Psyduck was still out there, and needed to be dealt with. Leon would take Eitri to safety, taking a series of herbs from his pockets, perhaps thinking of making some medicine for her. He wasn't really familiar with herbology, but he trusted the man to take care of things. That left him and Belowski to hunt the duck down, the boy asking about his relationship with Psyduck.

"Didn't think it'd be aggressive," Jack stated. "Guess we weren't much alike." With that, he turned around to grab his blade, attaching it to his back once more. His head turned towards Leon as he did so, giving the man a nod before he walked back to Belowski. His sensors, picking up the faint psychic activity, told him Psyduck was actually in an adjacent building. That would be their target. Heading towards it, Jack beckoned for the groggy boy to follow.

"Come on."

Eitri

Eitri frowned, looking from Leon to Belowski as they decided what to do. Without her imput. With her, still conscious directly in front of them.
"I can still fight." Eitri said with a frown. Another jolt of pain sparked through her torso, and she couldn't stop the small wince. Once again, the sage looked to each of the three people with her. The metal man had decided to join their alliance. Eitri didn't trust him fully yet, but Belowski and Leon were on board with him. And now Belowski was going to be the one going off with him, while Leon stayed with her. Belowski was a powerful ally, one that Eitri would not like to relinquish. But if anyone were to cement Jack into becoming an ally, it would be Belowski. And hopefully, Belowski would be strong enough to survive should it be a trap. Then there was Leon. He had stated his case plain. He was clearly the hero type, one she had seen many, many times before. Reliable, but foolish. Eitri could trust him.

Eitri sighed, gritting her teeth.
"... But I concede your point." Eitri said to Leon. The sage hovered slightly off the ground, floating towards Belowski. Taking off her hat, she placed it on Belowski's head once again.
"If you are going into battle without me, you are going to need all the help you can get." Eitri said to Belowski. "This may be able to provide some assistance."

Eitri floated back, landing next to Leon once again. She looked Belowski up and down before speaking again.
"It is my hope that my theory about you is true. That you are that type of person that shows up once in a hundred years. I believe you have a great deal of potential, so do not prove me wrong or go squandering it by dying now." Eitri said. "That, and I may need your assistance later should Zed decide he wishes to settle our battle."

With those words said, Eitri gave Jack one last suspicious look before turning back towards Leon. Eitri pointed to the herbs he was mixing.
"Where did you learn to do that?" Eitri asked Leon.

Kirby
The good news was that Kirby managed to redirect the massive boulder from his new friend. The bad news was that it came at a painful price.
The car couldn't tank the blow fully, collapsing as Kirby bounced off, ruining the paint job and likely to cost thousands in repairs.
Oh, and the smoldering spikes stabbed into the Kirby, burning the puffball, but at least he saved Omega.
Kirby spat out the car, rubbing his eyes from the smoke and pain, managing to clear them up enough to catch Omega firing a laser at Bowser, only Bowser to block it with another boulder. Kirby's flaming wings flared, already taking the puffball into flight.
Soon as the boulder left Bowser's hands, it would be swallowed up by the midair Kirby, who would flip over and fire it into Bowser side! Not only that, but he would follow up with a stream of fire breath for added pressure!

"It is my hope that my theory about you is true. That you are that type of person that shows up once in a hundred years. I believe you have a great deal of potential, so do not prove me wrong or go squandering it by dying now."

"Ohhh..."

Belowski processed what she was trying to say. His head, although a bit slow to understand her meaning, took it as a sign that she valued him as a friend. So he shot her back with a toothy grin of his own.

"Hahaha...that's what I'm talkin' about. Showin' me some real heart! No worries man, I'll be back, then we all can take a long nap and rest up!"

That made the boy's day, as he turned around, the grin still on his face as he followed Jack off to find the dangerous duck. The antagonistic avian. The...uh........it's gettin' hard to think of new descriptors.

"Followin' you compadre." Belowski said to Jack, playing a spell card.

It was dark factory of mass production. While his monsters in his deck were but all depleted, he did have a lot in the grave. So with this card, he could bring two to the hand. Since the odds of drawing another dark factory was...impossible, he could no longer bring all three Mokeys back. However, he had a happy lover on the field already, so he elected to draw those two.

"And Imma invite a second Happy Lover with us for good luck."

That's when a second petite angel joined the fray, the first swooping down and beaming at the new angel.

"Briiii!"

They seemed to enjoy each other me company as they flew around in circles almost like...well, lovers. Belowski laughed along to it.

"Haha, sweet guys. Let's follow the robo-bobo-master."

PYRO

Shielding their eyes, the Pyro held an arm up as Zed rose into the air, a shine emanating so bright, it was like staring at the sun. A star so bright, that even the tinted, manipulated lens of the Pyro's left eye could not see past it. The mercenary grumbled in annoyance, not very happy with the light.

"Legitima Futura!!!"

Pyro lowered their arm, watching as a storm of flaming birds began to fall upon them. "Hmph!?" they shouted, lifting up the degreaser. It was running dangerously low... but maybe it could be enough. Pulling up the weapon, the Pyro fired. A burst of birds crashed against others, wiping each other out. They had to fire again to finish off the wave, and to the mercenary's dismay, they were down to one last air blast---and Zed wasn't finished.

Using that last blast against the swords directly headed for them, Pyro knocked them together, causing a premature chain reaction as the impacts set off flowery eruptions. The pyro tilted their head to the side, staring in wonder---before they were blasted off their feet, sent backward from the destruction, falling into the building behind them. Here, Zed started to release rings of flames, blasting through the entire park and to the building, which crumbled beneath the blasts as the Pyro leapt over piles of debris, dodged under collapsing ceilings - and came out the other side, spared from the ring, as its power had been stopped by smashing into the structure, which now collapsed in a heap upon itself, kicking up dust and debris into the air.

Among that? Scrap metal. The perfect way to get back some power in the degreaser. Taking advantage of the dust obscuring them, the Pyro began to gather scrap metal, plotting (and failing to find a solution) a counter against Zed's power.

LEON

Jack nodded at him. Leon returned it in kind. A silent communication between badasses is how many would describe such a silent transaction. Eitri was hesitant in her agreeance to Leon's plan, but complied nonetheless. The group of four split in half, Belowski following Jack toward the duck, while Leon led Eitri to the apartment complex he'd earlier pointed out, pausing to see a distant eruption of light in fire in the sky.

He notably winced, as though in pain, staring at the display. "Shit..." The sky counter still hadn't ticked down. Masaru was still alive. But for how long? Omega and puffball, as well, were holding out. If they could do so enough for the duck to be eliminated, he could organize a counter-offense against Morton and Birdbrain. The duck was just a loose end, and Belowski had seemed somewhat... vengeful against it. Was vengeful a proper description? That kid was a weird one alright.

As Leon's hands kept working on the herbs, crushing them up and putting them in a vial, Eitri asked him about it. Where he'd learned to do it.

"I was a rookie cop," Leon replied. "My first day on the job, and the dead start to rise. I got trapped in the city. First aid is a pretty important part of training, learning how to administer and treat wounds, but a man named Albert Wesker, who founded S.T.A.R.S., an elite group, branch off of Raccoon City PD, discovered medicinal properties in local herbs. Almost magical, some people say it is. Ever since then, we're trained how to use these herbs to their maximum potential."

The two green herbs were crushed down and put inside the vial before Leon mixed in a liquid, then sealed the top, swishing the vial around as they reached the apartment. "It doesn't taste great. You were out last time I gave you some, but all you need to do is drink it all down. Effects should start almost immediately, heal up wounds, seal damage, and reinvigorate you. It'll feel like you've just had eight hours sleep. Didn't work like that last time because I had to use half of a vial to get your arm reattached." He held open the door for Eitri as he looked about, not seeing any immediate danger.

Eitri

The girl followed Leon. The sounds of combat still rang out in the distance, Leon's group still fighting Bowser and Zed. Leon explained where he learned to use these herbs of his. He spoke of names and places that Eitri did not recognize, but she was able to get the gist of what he was saying. Part of his training from being a city guard. It sounded like his world too suffered an attack from Hel, the land of the dead. Eitri shook her head.

"What an unusual world you are from, Leon Kennedy. No magic, but powerful technology and powerful healing plants." Eitri said. She followed Leon into the building, sitting down on a chair to catch her breath for a moment. Leon explained the concoction he was creating. It sounded similar to the effects of a Vulnerary or Elixir. Eitri took the vial from Leon, looking at its contents for a moment with a frown. Then, in a quick motion Eitri drank the contents of the vial. True to his warning, it tasted rather bad. Eitri's expression soured as she smacked her lips, trying to get the taste of the herbs out of her mouth.

As she sat there, Eitri could feel her tiredness begin to fade. The pain in her side and ribs began to slowly fade away, as did the soreness in her left arm. She could feel her energy beginning to return. Yes, this was quite similar to the effects of an Elixir. Blinking, Eitri looked up to Leon.
"Most impressive." Eitri said to the cop. "How many more of those do you have?"

Takahara Masaru

"Legitima Futura!!!" As Zed cried out his strongest attack, Masaru forced himself to his feet; Initially, he got up not realising he was targeted, but as he looked onwards he quickly realised his predicament, and had to force himself to not panic.

Crap...I don't think I can really escape this, not without the others helping. If any of this catches me, I'll probably be burnt to a crisp, and then...No. I need to focus. Gotta make sure either those kids or someone else good wins...!

"I won't let you, you know!?" He called out, pushing all his energy into what he'd do next. Luckily, the Pyro made his job easier by taking on the birds with...blasts of air? He wasn't sure how a fire weapon was doing that, but he needn't know how to do his bit. He focused his energy, charging it as he saw the swords clamouring towards him and his allies as explosion after explosion rattled his senses and he steered himself away from checking his surroundings - Effectively blinding him to everything around him. After a fleeting ten seconds once more...!

"WORLD-BREAKER'S WRATH!" With a cry of rage once more, Masaru took to the skies with a mighty leap, crashing back down moments later and sends chunks of earth flying out of the crator caused. These were to attempt to break into Zed's inflamed barrier before the Adept could burn the group to a crisp, and to force the Adept to fall down to his level! If Masaru were successful at both, his next course of action would be to run at Zed. "German Suplex!" As his shout could indicate, a suplex was his next move, to try and drive the fire-wielder to the ground, followed by,
"Lookpanjama Kick!" As he shot upwards, attempting to take Zed up with him with a spinning kick. "Cross Heel Hold!" Was his next cry, attempting to break Zed's right leg as he pulled him into a tight leg lock. Even if it didn't break, his next move came soon after he let go. "Mano Toss!" And he used his mighty strength to try to toss Zed like a ragdoll! Assuming this worked, his next move was even more swift! "Frakensteiner!" He would jump straight to his thrown foe, attempting to backflip onto his foe's shoulders and drive his foe's head back to the ground, before following with a...!

"Celestial Palm!" He finished his combo off, attempting to strike the small of Zed's neck and back with his palm, the right energy to strike even through armor, and weaken foes from the inside!

He then promptly collapsed, his burns and wounds, combined with exhaustion, knocking him out even if he failed the littlest part of his combination attacks. The world's mightiest warrior, taken out to his faintest front...

LEON

Leon grinned as he watched Eitri notably perk up, despite the look of disgust she displayed. Upon being asked how much he had remaining, the agent scratched the back of his head. "Honestly, I've used up most of my supply on you. I only have a few herbs left."

The ground rumbled with the shakes of a nearby conflict, and Leon's humility seemed to vanish, replaced by the stoic seriousness he usually seemed to carry. "Hopefully the others don't take long. We can't afford to linger. The others, if they can't handle Morton the Big Friendly Turtle, and Birdbrain, I'm not sure how well we'll fare. Taking that duck out might give us some form of advantage, but..." Leon paused, stroking his chin, before he looked over Eitri. "The turtle, you saw the cracks on his shell, right? He seems pretty much impervious to damage, but... if something left cracks, maybe we could exploit that. Something long and sharp to jab right in the cracks. I'm not sure if my knife would be long enough. Jack's sword would be. What do you think?"

Eitri

Eitri thought for a moment about Leon's suggestion to defeat Bowser, crossing her arms.
"Hmm. I believe so." Eitri said. "A sword stabbed into the chinks of his armor may be enough to best him. Or at least, wound him. My Rexcalibur or Elwind attacks won't be precise enough to exploit such weaknesses, and my Wind spell would be far to weak to deal any substantial damage."
If only Grim Brokkr hadn't been destroyed. The girl glanced up to Leon.
"Are you skilled with swords, Leon?" Eitri asked the police officer.

Belowski

"Hey look, up there."

After following Jack's lead for a while, Belowski pointed up to a building adjacent to the rubble of the one they fought on. There was a shattered window on the side of it. Inside, a yellow blotch, which vastly stood out amongst the grays and whites of the building's concrete walls and floors.

"I don't think he sees us...what you think we should do?"

Zed
To Zed's disbelief, his attack claimed no lives. The pyromaniac had deflected some of his attacks before running from the rapidly expanding ring of fire, while Masaru faced it head on, using his World-Breaker's Wrath to send another series of chunks of earth flying at Zed, the final part of the Adept's Legitima Futura clashing with the projectiles---before the chunks of earth were blasted apart, though they managed to temporarily create an opening in the attack's formation, giving Masaru a moment to sprint through, aiming to follow up with a combo.

Once his attack was over, Zed fell back down to the ground, still wingless. Masaru ran up to him, trying to quickly ground him with a German Suplex. A clear mistake.

In an instant, the Golden Trillion had summoned Eclipse Solaire in his hands, slashing across the man's chest while he was wide open, knocking Masaru down to the ground, after which he appeared to be unconscious. Whatever energy he had left in him had been exhausted. It was about time he was finished off. Summoning his Dea Lacrimae once more, a series of royal blades appeared above Masaru, aiming to end him once and for all in a radiant explosion!

Jack
Belowski pointed out the hiding duck, a yellow spot in the dark room. If it truly hadn't noticed them, there was a chance for a quick execution. Best to be silent with his approach.

"I'll go through the window," Jack told the boy, quiet and firm. "Back in a moment."

The Ghostrunner fired his gap jammer, attaching it to the window sill, pulling himself up quickly and quietly. Climbing through the window, the cyborg found his target---the duck was asleep inside the worn-down building, lying on top of a particularly dusty rug. Jack approached silently, drawing his blade, coming to a stop a foot from Psyduck.

"What a shame." The Architect's voice echoed in Jack's head, fortunately for his stealthy approach. "Something like that should be studied."

Ignoring the voice's remarks, Jack crouched down, slowly raising his blade... And he did what had to be done.

His blade cleanly cut through Psyduck's neck. A swift, painless death.
11
A few seconds later, the Ghostrunner leapt back out through the window, landing next to Belowski, handling the fall well despite the damage he'd taken. Ghostrunners were built to last, regardless of their purpose.

"It's done."

"Far out."

The duelist turned around as he waited for Jack to be done, whistling a tune as his eyes got harder and harder to keep open. So as Jack came back and the number above ticked down, Belowski pivoted on his heel.

"It's done."

"That was pretty fast. Ight." He yawned. "This dude's gonna take a quick Power Nap...later."

With that, he just collapsed where he was. The fuel disk deactivating and his monsters and field disappearing from view. He...fell asleep. Just like that.

LEON

"They're not my specialty, but I'm trained with just about anything." Leon replied with a shrug as he crossed his arms. There was a brief moment of silence, in which thunder rumbled through the sky. They didn't need to see the sky counter to know it had ticked down again. He was confident that had been the duck's end, and that Belowski and Jack were on their way back.

"Before we get back into the fray, there's something you should know," the agent informed Eitri. "You know what my intentions are already, I've said as much. I care about getting you and Belowski out of here---but he doesn't want to leave. He thinks the only person I should be concerned with seeing through this is you. I'm not inclined to agree, but it's not my place to disagree with his decision."

PYRO

Enough scrap to last a lifetime!

Well, okay, enough scrap to give the degreaser one additional shot. It wasn't exactly ideal, but as thunder rumbled in the sky, and the counter ticked down to 11, the Pyro grew somewhat concerned that the flaming man had taken out one of their teammates. Bounding up the pile of ruble, the mercenary slid down it once at the top, and emerged from the hovering debris in time to see Masaru get thrown to the ground.

"Mmph! Mmm mph!" The Pyro's muffled voice called, before they bounded toward Zed (skipped would have been a more accurate description), firing the air blast toward Zed once near enough, aiming to blast him off his feet and hopefully knock off his balance, and his aim---while leaving the pyro almost defenseless in the open.

E-123 Omega
Omega’s attack was a success, Morton being caught off-guard and sent flying. With robotic efficiency, the war machine immediately reconfigured both his arms into homing-missile launchers and fired two rounds at the soaring koopa. These missiles were smaller and less than his drill missiles, but there were more of them and they had homing properties—a fair trade.

As Omega did this, he began to rocket forward in the same direction as Bowser was flying, not intending to lose his target. Suddenly, a loud boom rang out from the sky and the number ticked down once more. There were only 11 contestants remaining—6 of which were his teammates. Good, that made 4 targets available for complete and utter annihilation, including Morton the big friendly turtle.

Omega reconfigured his arms into two rotary cannons armed with explosive rounds and began to fire them at Bowser after the missiles either landed or were dealt with.

Sonic the Hedgehog
“Legit mom—what?”

The hedgehog was very confused regarding the name of Birdbrain’s latest attack—but still dealt with it all the same. Sonic leapt upwards and boosted midair—creating a small shockwave, which was enough to disperse the birds from hitting him. He then bounced between the two swords that appeared and avoided the flowers due to his airborne status. To avoid the ring, the hedgehog curled into a ball and smashed through a window on a nearby building, taking cover inside of it. After the attack subsided, the hedgehog leapt out of the building and did several flips before landing on the ground. With a cocky grin on his face, Sonic took a cartoonishly taunting bow, not fazed by Zed’s theatrics.

However, the adept did not appreciate his attack’s failure and decided to take out his frustration on Masaru, who was currently defenseless. With a frown, the blue blur dashed forward and jumped up into the air as the blades appeared to slide the martial artist into the world’s most displeasing plate of sushi. Zipping into action, Sonic boosted towards the flat side of one of the swords and kicked off of it, sending it flying the other way and giving him a boost, allowing him to repeat this process on the remaining swords quickly. After landing on the ground, Sonic stomped his foot into a manhole, causing the cover to flip upwards. With a powerful kick, the hedgehog launched the manhole cover towards Zed’s face! After doing so, he turned to Masaru. “You okay?”

MORTON

With a roar, the great king was launched off his feet. To add insult to injury, several homing missiles erupted against him as he was hurtling backward, before he disappeared into a building, smashing through the wall. Omega was directly behind, firing explosive rounds into the hole made by Bowser. Blast after blast, and the hole was widened as debris was kicked up into the air. By the time the E-Series finally relented, a massive cloud of dust had been kicked up, obscuring physical vision.

Yet there was thunder echoing in the sky. The count did not tick down.

The ground rumbled for a moment, but nothing happened. There was another rumble, shaking the ground beneath Omega. Sensors wouldn't be able to detect anything within the ruins of the building, and continuing to blast wouldn't have any effect either. The reason for this was revealed a moment later as the ground directly beneath Omega suddenly shattered, Bowser's claws shredding through the concrete, aiming to grab the robot and pull him down to smash Omega into the sewers, and if he tried to fly away, the koopa king had already prepared himself with a kyber-laced beam of energy from his gullet, which he would be using regardless of how Omega responded, turning his head with the robot if it should move.

The front of Bowser's shell was sizzling from where he'd been struck by the laser, the blast having nearly melted through. Charred skin around it indicated the damage, alongside soot all over the king, but he didn't seem keen on slowing down, his eyes alight with a combination of malice and bloodlust.

Zed
Masaru’s two allies came to his aid, Sonic sending the burning blades elsewhere to save the martial artist, while Pyro went for a direct approach, sprinting up to Zed while he was focused on the others to deliver one last blast of compressed air that sent him flying backwards. While there was no pile of sharp rubble this time to cause additional damage, the blast of air had been far from pleasant, Zed gritting his teeth as he got his bearings, managing to land on his feet, crouching to a stop.

Right as he stopped, a manhole cover was sent flying at Zed, With an upward swing of his Eclipse Solaire, a golden explosion manifested in front of the Adept, the concussive force sending the projectile off course. A series of blazing birds also emerged from the blast, quickly flying in an arc towards Pyro.

At the same time, the ground beneath Sonic and Masaru would start to glow golden, before a pillar of flame burst forth to engulf the two!

Jack

And just like that, Belowski was out cold. That was an incredible amount of trust on display. If it hadn’t been Jack accompanying him, but someone with evil intentions… It would’ve been an easy kill.

“Almost as impressive as the psychic duck you just killed.”

Paying little mind to the Architect, Jack crouched down, picking up the much smaller Belowski in his arms, before he wordlessly began marching back towards Leon and Eitri’s refuge. Hopefully they wouldn’t get the wrong idea.

PYRO

"MMPH!" The mercenary cheered as Zed went flying, and proceeded to dance in place for a moment, seemingly celebrating something as they kicked their legs out---but the celebratory dance was cut short as more birds began to flame down toward them. They pyro turned to flee, the birds raining down on them. The first few fell short.

The rest did not.

Blasted through the air, the Pyro let out a muffled yell as they fell back toward the ground, and skid to a stop on their chin, almost comically so. Slowly, they got back to their feet, shaking their head, before lifting up the degreaser.

It was bent out of shape. Without Engie around to fix it, it was next to useless now. Shaking their head at the loss of such a close companion, the mercenary restored the broken degreaser back into their inventory, and conjured out the fire axe once more, before turning and charging back toward Zed with a muffled battle cry.
