July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"Go get the Feebas!" Reina cried out, not wanting to get trapped in a dark room, underwater, with an angry Seadra.

Peque slammed his grippers, sending a small wave towards the opponent and pushing the smoke back. Although he kept the smoke from reaching him, Reina and Esther, his enemy was still inside of it. Looking to end things quickly, for the sake of the ugly shiny fish, Peque once again covered his fist in ice, using the super Mudkip senses in his DNA to pinpoint the location of the Seadra. With a loud roar, he raised his Ice Punch over his head and dove into the Smokescreen, swinging to smack the water Pokemon down, without noticing the poison barb getting attached to his torso.

Azumi didn't have much tact, did she? Her question came out of nowhere. A couple? Him and Esther?

They'd only just met that morning, so couple was definitely out of the question. Monty could admit the girl was cute, though, and her moves in the fight with the Vespiqueen could almost rival some of the girls at the brothel. Her tenacity was infectious, too. He wouldn't have gone for the honey if it was just he and Nico, but Esther convinced him to charge into the lion's den with nothing but a few stern words. Maybe there was something there.

"We're still getting to know each other," Monty told Azumi, his cheeks slightly red and his expression a little confusion as to what made her ask in the first place. "Though I don't think I'd mind a little one-on-one training sometime." He gave Esther a wry grin, but Oracle didn't find the situation nearly as amusing as her trainer did.

Why exactly were they wasting time prattling on about nothing?! They were here, at the gym, so why weren't they on a battlefield?! Had the leader here heard word of Oracle's strength, and needed more time to prepare? She fixed a glare on Monty, her fur ruffling a bit as she exerted her Pressure.

Wait. Was he warming up? Her sensitive horn detected a change in his temperature when he looked at Esther, and the pieces clicked into place. USELESS Monty had the audacity to hold up her battle for the sake of a potential mate?! Just when she thought he couldn't stoop any lower, he did a backflip into a canyon! How irritating.

Lunch did sound good, though. Both Monty and Oracle had worked up an appetite after the encounters on Parterre Way, and the trainer suggested that he and Esther tag along with Azumi and Nana. "Unless we'd be intruding on you two, of course." The blonde woman and her Gardevoir seemed...remarkably close. Maybe that's what brought on her couple question in the first place?

Kaden Miller - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh

The Swords dance boosted attack slammed into Nyx, sending the ghost pokemon flying in the air and fell onto the ground like a wet rag. Kaden was sad to see his Mismagius faint, but at least Raiten would get a moment to shine since he wouldn't be that useful against either a Steelix or a Bastiodon.

"Your moment to shine, Raiten" the coordinator called out from a Quick ball and seemed to immediately be ready to jump into action.

"Agility, go!" Kaden yelled at his Jolteon and sprang into a sprint and increased his speed with each step, "Thunderbolt!" and right then, electricity crackled from Raiten's fur and shot towards the Kabutops.

"I'd be fine with it. Like you said it could take hours until the Swablu get here if they even fly here today," Lara said with a smile, thinking that this Sigilyph was endearing in a way. Maybe it was just curious about them, just like they were curious about it, "I could film you two if you'd like," the reporter then suggested and moved over to Toast to prepare to take out her film camera just in case.

Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - Eterna City, Sinnoh

Gwen hopped off her seat and followed Naka to retrieve their pokemon, "Thank you, nurse Joy!" she thanked the pink haired nurse and attached the regular pokeball as well as the Duskball to her belt again. She walked beside Naka and looked at the ground, doing her best to take in all the wisdom that she was dropping on her, "I guess we'll see," Gwen just said with a shrug.

"Right now I'd like corn dogs though," she sighed and adjusted her cap a bit before she also noticed Ron, "Come on Mr. Punk! We need to go and get our corndogs!" the blue haired girl yelled before she thought of something and looked up to Naka again, "Shouldn't our pokemon also get something to eat as well?"

Ron Towers, Eterna City, June 16th.

Ron waved back at the girls, "I still haven't showered!" He called out.

He walked into the showers, tossing his new clothes next to the sink and his old clothes in the trash. He turned on the water, feeling the cool water hitting his sore body from wrestling Furia felt nice. He flinched when the bite started to sting, but it was to be expected, he had just forgotten about it. As the water washed away his fatigue, Ron sighed loudly, looking up so the water could hit his face.

He needed to wash away the memories from the past. His path was set, there were no regrets... He should write that down for a song. After a quick wash and the nice sound of complete silence, besides the running water, Ron stepped out a new man. He's hair was dyed, thanks to the super technology of super hair dye.

Once he was out in the open again, Luz escaped her Pokeball. The Espenon chirped to let her trainer know she was out and wrapped her tail around Ron's ankle, so she wouldn't get lost. They both soon caught up to Naka and Gwen, joining them for lunch.

"So, where's my food? I think Luz here linked with my hunger and I can sense her salivating for a corndog." He looked down, his eyes meeting the blank ones of his Espeon, "Maybe some fries for her also."

Get Feebas? She’d love to, but she couldn’t even see it! Esther gritted her teeth and threw caution to the wind, hopefully, Reina would keep Seadra busy. Esther dove forward, blindly grasping at the location she’d seen Feebas at earlier. The waters churned once more as Seadra tried to use «Twister» to throw Peque off-course, and although the churning also threw Esther off-course, the resulting whirlpool ended up dragging Feebas closer to her.

The glint of Feebas’ scales was just bright enough that Esther could spot it through the smog and she quickly hugged the fish-pokémon to her chest as the three—her shellos included—were sent tumbling from the swirling currents.

"I'm coming mi amor!" Reina called out, reaching for her last resort to such a predicatment, "Storm, I'm sorry to interrupt your rest, help Esther!"

The Moonball was tossed and out emerged the big water ice Pokemon, Storm the Lapras. The sea ferry Pokemon swamp towards Esther, shielding her from the currents with her body and waiting for the Olivian native to grab on. Meanwhile, Peque wasn't done, he was strong enough to pull a cruise through the ocean, he could definitely power through a Twister! With a grunt, taking some damaged swimming through the vortex, he burst through the other side and aimed his Ice Punch at the Seadra.

Nakano Saito

Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 16
Location: Eterna City Vendor and Park, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous

Interactions: Gwen Tucker (IDKWhatUserNameToDo), Ron Towers (Hecotoro)

Gwen's dismissal in what Naka said in favor of food had her laughing. Waiting for Ron to get back, Naka went ahead and ordered food. Four corndogs with a side of fries, but that's when Gwen gave a good idea. "Oh, right. Got any food for Pokemon, my man?"

The vendor, who was busy putting four corndogs and fries on paper baskets, smiled. His accent was a bit more relaxed, and he had a jolly wobble as he stood rocking from one foot to the other. "Heck yeah, mah dudettes. We got some jolly fine good stuffs for them 'mons of yers. How many ye have?" Naka can just see the man's twinkling blue eyes at the prospect of more money, but the woman just shrugged.

"Well, I got six, she's got two, and our other friend's got six. I think..." She only recalled Luz, his Blastoise, and Furia... Oh well, with how strong he was, he must have about six.

Wanting to make small talk as he did the math and input stuff on his table, the vendor spoke. "Ahh, she yers?" The vendor gestured towards Gwen and grinned as Ron came up. "Such a cute family ye got." He ignored the blooming pink on Naka's face as he inputted the amount.

"Hahaha... N-no, she's got her own family. We're just all friends."

"Hah, oh, sorry 'bout that, missus. Fooled me." The vendor chuckled, finding what he did just absolutely amusing. He charged Naka for fourteen of the Pokemon's meals, and Naka gave the three corndogs and fries to Ron.

"Two for you, one for Luz." Naka then gave Gwen her three. "One for you and each of your Pokemon."

And now they had a bunch of Pokemon to throw out. Next to the vendor was a sort of garden and park. There was a bench and table, other solo benches, and some play structures for kids and Pokemon.

Naka threw out all of her Pokemon, six different kinds of PokeBalls flying through the air and revealing her entire team. A Pichu with oversized cheeks landed on a statue of an oversized Budew statue. An Infernape and Flareon appeared in the middle of the hedges, more so Infernape so as to not burn anything. To further remove himself from plants, he began climbing a play structure until he was swinging happily from the topmost bar with his feet. An Aerodactyl softly cooed and stretched his wings as he sat comfortably on the ground. A Froslass floated in the air, humming to herself as she floated eerily over to a reflection in the pond's surface and looked herself over. Finally, the evolved form of Ozzy. A Zweilous appeared, the four-legged, two-headed dragon yawned with both maws and stretched its body. Fur was brushed out of its beady eyes, but it still reacted as if it were blind with only an immediate range of blurry sight. Anytime the two heads bumped into one another, they'd quietly snarl at one another. However, the Zweilous was just as quiet - if not more so - than the Flareon, who was brooding off into some bushes, curling up and waiting for his food to be brought to him.

Wanting to introduce each of her Pokemon properly, she pointed to each one. "That's Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Yuki the Froslass, Hanu the Infernape, Aero the Aerodactyl, and Orochi the Zweilous. They're all generally pretty nice. Well, Orochi tends to bite first when things come to his blurry vision, so be careful." She then beamed at Ron. "Also got enough for all of your Pokemon, too, tough guy. Can't leave a hungry stomach unfilled. Purple, huh? Suits you." She added as a sort of teasing flirt, smirking at him. He really was cute, but maybe she was just feeling fruity after that battle.

She didn't mean to flex her wealth at all. She was just making sure all of their Pokemon were full.

A couple? Was that what they looked like? Esther wasn’t sure if she saw it; she was no closer to Monty than she was to Nico! Hell, she hadn’t touched either of them since meeting them. Not even to take an offered handshake. Maybe the assumptions were normal in Kalos. She had heard Lumiose was the city of love, maybe that’s just how Kalosians were—they always had their heads filled with pink.

That said...she didn't think Monty looked shabby. He all but towered over her—being 9 maybe 10 inches taller than her?—and even with his jacket it was obvious that he was well-built; he looked like he could pick her up and—Ooh, naughty, naughty~

Nevertheless, she didn’t think it’d work out. Monty was a specimen of a man and she was well...not exactly fit. Esther didn’t think her figure was...terrible, per se...she was...curvy—if you were being generousbut not in the right places. She had packed on just a few pounds after her years away from the dance floor and next to Monty she felt self-conscious.

The almost strained grin he flashed her certainly didn’t help.

Esther elected to chuckle, not trusting her words to evade an awkward situation. So she was all too happy to hop on-board when the topic of conversation shifted.

“Over an hour...? That’s great, I think I’ll hit the pokémon center and then stay at the gym, I noticed they had an audience, so I want to watch the battles.”

Esther struggled but managed a clumsy grab on Lapras’ shell. She clutched tight, one arm anchored her to Lapras while the other held Feebas.

Although Lapras' shell had ridges and groves she could readily sink her fingers in, those fingers were rapidly numbing. Esther shivered as Peque landed another ice punch on the Seadra and the temperature of the water plunged once more.

Seadra shook off a few ice shards and glared at the intruders. The sudden appearance of Lapras made it a two against one, and that was withuot counting the smaller threats in the room like Shellos and Feebas. Things were not in its favor and Seadra begrudgingly decided to run, its primary directive was—after all—protecting its children.

As Seadra slipped away, bubbles of relief slipped from Esther’s rebreather and the girl relaxed.

“Thanks Reina, couldn’t have done it without you!” Esther swam over to offer her friend a big hug.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"My pleasure!" Reina embraced Esther tightly, probably a bit shaken, after realizing they were fighting underwater and many things could have gone wrong. "Your Shellos, that mud bomb was, La Bomba!" She grinned before releasing Esther.

"Now that I think about it, you might like this one song, called La Bamba. It's tropical, like your Shellos." She grabbed Esther's free hand and began swinging it as it trying to do a one handed dance. "Para bailar la bamba! Para bailar la bamba se necesita un poquito de gracia, una poca de gracia, hay arriba arriba, por ti sere por ti sere!"

Storm wiggled her ears trying to sing alone with her own tune, echoing within the walls of the boat. Meanwhile, Peque just floated, waiting for the effects of the poison to pass away, but enjoying the show nevertheless.

Montagne Khastil
July 1 - Santalune City, Kalos

One visit to the Pokémon Center later, and Monty was reclined in the stands of Santalune's Gym alongside his companions.

They'd managed to snag some great seats in the front row, and it gave the group a full picture of the battle unfolding. Oracle sat on the floor in front of Monty, positioned between his firmly planted feet, and both of them spectated intently. Their hour wait had almost concluded, and the only thing between them and their battle with Viola was this match.

"The battle between challenger Gus and Gym Leader Viola is about to commence!"

A portly man, practically the spitting image of the one at the reception desk, stood on the sidelines at the middle of the battlefield. He held a microphone, and made great sweeping motions to either side of the arena. On one side stood a younger kid and his Litleo, and at the other end stood Viola.

This should be interesting. Monty admittedly didn't know much about gym leaders other than that they were supposed to be strong, and he'd only caught the aftermath of the earlier bout that Esther had seen through the windows. He'd gotten a glimpse of something vaguely blue being returned to the leader's poke ball, but beyond that...

"Eager challengers like you are the perfect subjects!" Viola's voice rung out through the arena, her hand eagerly tapped the expensive-looking camera draped across her neck. "Always with that glint in your eyes! Fantastic, just fantastic! Surskit, come on out and help make the perfect shot!"

With her other hand Viola released a pokémon, and with a flash of white light it began zipping back-and-forth in front of her. So that was what he'd seen. Surskit, huh?

Monty drew his PokéDex from his back pocket, expanded it and pointed it at Viola's blue bug.

{ SURSKIT - The Pond Skater Pokémon - BUG/WATER Type - They usually live on ponds, but after an evening shower, they may appear on puddles in towns. It appears as if its skating on water. It draws prey with a sweet scent from the tip of its head. }

Bug and Water type? Shit, he hadn't accounted for that. Chauffemagne's type advantage was going to be a big part of his strategy going into the challenge, but a Water-type on the field would complicate things. Still, a job was a job. He had to get the badge, regardless of whatever unforseen variables popped up. That rang true running jobs for the Guard, and it rang true now.

Monty set the Dex down and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and watched the battle's start intently. Scenarios flashed through his mind one by one as he thought of possible counters and openings in Viola's strategy to take advantage of. Would Chauffemagne be able to get the jump on his opponent?

It looked fast, zipping and weaving between Litleo's ranged <<Embers >> and sending its own volley of << Bubbles >> at the cub. He wouldn't be able to count on it. Should he lead with Oracle? Monty glanced down at his partner as she intently followed the action on the field. The Absol likely wouldn't have much trouble keeping up with Surskit's erratic movements, but he wanted to keep her as an ace in the hole against whatever else Viola had in store.

"AND DOWN GOES LITLEO!" Claps sounded from the sparse audience as the cub fainted, knocked out by Surskit's <<Bubble>>. The pond skater did a little celebratory twirl, and the flash of Viola's camera wasn't lost on Monty.

Did the type advantage do it in? Or was it this Gus guy's training? His own experience with trainer battles was limited, so the criminal couldn't quite tell what the cause was. He could at least tell that the Surskit would present Chauffemagne a little trouble if not dealt with quickly, though.

Gus released his next pokémon, an Elektrike. Why didn't he lead with that? Electric was strong against water, if Monty was remembering his match-ups right. Maybe that was Gus' ace in the hole?

So many questions. So many variables. The criminal was getting annoyed with it. He was the point-and-shoot guy, and he usually left the aiming to his higher-ups in the Old Guard.

Monty's thoughts drifted to the earlier conversation in the lobby, to Azumi's out-of-nowhere couple question. His gaze only half-followed the action, and when it took him in Esther's direction it lingered for a few moments longer than before. He didn't blame her for missing his flirting in Kalosian, but she'd pretty firmly evaded him in the couple-conversation.

Whatever. They had just met, after al—

You're on a job! Monty tore his thoughts off of Esther, refocusing on the match just in time to catch Elektrike's <<Thunder Shock>> fainting Surskit.

"SURSKIT IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!"

Gus cheered along with the sparse crowd, and Viola swapped the fainted pond skater for a large butterfly; Vivillon.

A Bug/Flying-Type according to Monty's PokéDex, with a beautiful pink pattern to its wings. Viola snapped several shots of it battling Elektrike, until the green pup ended up succumbing to <<Infestation>>.

"ELEKTRIKE IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! THE WINNER IS LEADER VIOLA!" Applause sounded from the crowd, and the two trainers met in the middle of the field as the announcer continued, "NEXT UP IS THE BATTLE BETWEEN CHALLENGER MONTAGNE AND LEADER VIOLA!"

Finally! Oracle leapt to her feet, her battle lust reaching a pitch after watching her opponents spell out their moves for her, and she looked expectantly up at Monty. Her trainer rose from his seat and turned to his companions. "I'll try not to beat her so bad she punches out before you face her," he said to Esther, only half-joking.

The criminal strode away from them confidently, the thought of defeat not even crossing his mind. Three weeks of training with Oracle had led up to this battle. The first step to keeping his promise to Oracle, and to Chuaffemagne, was here. He was sure he'd keep it.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond watched as Naka used her Barraskewda to help her sail from the ship's interior as it seemed that certain Pokemon had been handy to have for just such situations. He couldn't have exactly expected to grab Politoed's leg and asked it to swim him out of her, nor would he have as he preferred to not let Politoed get too close to his personal space.

Speaking of personal space Naka's Wishiwashi seemed to swim close to Desmond and Politoed as if to keep close company and while Desmond had questioned this fish's uh "attachment" to it Iwa seemed harmless enough even for him and if nothing else Politoed seemed to enjoy company as it smiled and waved at it.

Demsond had to agree that Naka seemed to be a natural info dump when it had come to Pokemon facts. "Yeah, seems you are well researched. Still got a lot to learn here..." Desmond admitted before he and Politoed began to swim as they followed Naka and Barraskewda as well as Aldon, Skol and his Sigilyph Wunder.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,103)
Valencia Island, Orange Archipelago (June 1st)

"Alright let's start this off right. Come out Cubone!" Axe cried out, as he was selected by the Drone Rotom to select his Pokemon first and out came a Cubone who seemed to look on with a focused gaze as it swung its club in the air dramatically.

"Huh, so that explains the skull sticker..." Adrianne mused to herself, but hey Cubone was always cool and she had taken the chance to scan it with her own Pokedex.

"Cubone, the Lonely Pokemon. Because it never removes its skull helmet, no one has ever seen this Pokémon's real face."

"Lonely Pokemon? Okay someone is just being mean." Adrianne said, as that seemed a bit needlessly cruel given the context of the skull it wore. Seemed her opponent agreed on this.

"I KNOW RIGHT!? Um uh a-anyway call out your Pokemon." Axe said as he paused awkward and cleared his throat from that emotive moment as Adrianne nodded and considered her options. Being a Ground type, Aqua seemed to be a perfect choice as she prepared to reach for her Pokeball, however, suddenly Ace had popped out on its own as Adrianne seemed a bit stunned by this.

"Oh uh, you want to go? Well um, I guess who am I to say no?" Adrianne said sheepishly, I mean if nothing else it had an immunity to Cubone's ground attacks so this seemed fine still. The Drone Rotom scanned the field and both Pokemon before it seemed to project a holographic countdown of sorts. 3, 2, 1...

"Alright, let the battle begin!"

"Alright Cubone take down that bird with a Headbutt!" Axe called out as Cubone nodded, and focused that bone-clad cranium of its own and shot itself forward as it tried to slam into Ace like a missile.

"Ace evade and use Peck!" Adrianne called out as the Spearow flapped its wings and managed to fly over Cubone whose attack missed as it shot through the air quickly and before Cubone could react the Peck landed a clean hit on the chest! "Cu!"

"Agg hang tough!' Use Tail Whip!" Axe called out, as Cubone turned around and from above he got a view of that little tail as Cubone swayed it sight to which it seemed a bit nerved by this and thus it defensive guard lowered. Adrianne bit her lip.

"Will take more than Status effects to beat us! Use Fury Attack!" Adrianne called out, as Ace cried out and dove down as it intended to really lay into the Cubone but Axe seemed to have an idea in mind.

"Counter with False Swipe!" Axe called out, as the Cubone had a gleam and waited for Ace to get just close enough, before it swung its club which caused Ace to curse as it was forced to break it to avoid contact but now it had been right at close range to the Cubone.

"Hit it with Headbutt!" Axe called out as Adrianne tried to call for Ace to move away but as it attempted to flap back Cubone shot ahead and that skull connected with the Spearow's chest and knocked it on the ground with a thud.

"Hey you okay!?" Adrianne called out with concern, and with a groan the Spearow moved to its feet as it nodded as if to say it was fine. Adrianne sighed a bit before she decided to fight fire with fire.

"Ace use Leer!" Adrianne called out as the Spearow shot Cubone an intense glare which worked to produce a sweat drop as similarly her opponent's defense lowered as Axe knew he needed to strike quickly. "Finish it with another Headbutt!"

"Cubone!" Cubone cried out and launched forward like a missile as it tried to slam into Ace once more, but Adrianne seemed to have a plan and fitting to her nature it seemed to be an aggressive one.

"Sail over it and counter with Fury Attack!" Adrianne called back, as the Spearow seemed to grin and waited for the Cubone to get just close enough before it flapped over it and with a gleam began to strike with its talons and beak and wings in this ferocious attack that knocked Cubone to the ground. "Spearow!"

Cu..." Cubone cried out, showing signs of fatigue as Adrianne saw a window. "Finish it with Assurance!" Adrianne called out as before Axe had a chance to counter Ace sailed to the Cubone as its talons shimmed dark and it landed a blow to the chest; one that proved even more effective given it was within that window of having already dealt damage.

Cubone collapsed a bit as it dropped it club-like bone and the Drone Rotom scanned it before it made a declaration.

"Cubone is unable to battle. Ace the Spearow is the winner!"

After a trip to the pokémon center Esther and co. found seats in the gym’s audience stand. Under normal circumstances Esther would’ve been thrilled to be inside the gym, she would’ve made a tourist of herself gawking at architecture and wondering at the grandness of the gym hall; however, with her first gym battle on the horizon, circumstances were anything but normal.

Esther homed in on Viola with laser focus. Her first pokémon was one she’d seen earlier, Monty’s pokédex identified it as Surskit—a water/bug type. The battle commenced as Surskit was pitted against a strange feline pokémon—Esther raised her own pokédex to scan it:

Pokédex Entry #667 said:
Fire/Normal Type

They set off on their own from their pride and live by themselves to become stronger. These hot-blooded Pokémon are quick to fight. The stronger the opponent it faces, the more heat surges from its mane and the more power flows through its body.

The Litleo put up a valiant effort but was ultimately overwhelmed by Surskit’s speed and super-effective attacks. Esther narrowed in on that...Surskit was fast. Her team had always been troubled by fast pokémon; she lacked the means to keep up with them. Scale Shot was always an option, but it traded speed for defense—not a trade Esther was eager to make without some assurances. Surskit would be tricky...

The battle eventually wrapped up as Surskit fell to Electrike and the lightning bolt pokémon was in-turn felled by a Butterfree lookalike. The likes of a plan were still far from Esther’s mind, but she did have an idea of which pokémon she would use. She just needed to...confirm something.

When Monty’s name was called, Esther smiled and gave him a supportive wave.

“Good Luck,” she grinned. ”I’d give you a cheer, but I left by pompom and uniforms back in Oblivia.”

July 1 - Santalune City, Kalos

Azumi watched the battle unfold attentively. She wasn't a stranger to Viola, even followed her Shinxtagram. When it came to gym leaders, she followed two more, besides Viola, being Valerie and Swayer. She respected Swayer's way of battling, being considered pretty strong for using the grass type. Valerie was a strong leader, but an even better clothing designer. If she was to watch a match on television, it would be one of theirs. Otherwise, she had faced each leader at least once, but never faced Viola's Surskit.

The gym leader made quick work of the challenger, which was to be expected. Even if the gym leader was using lower level Pokemon, she still had a lot more experience, despite using simple strategies. Which brought Azumi's next doubt, how well trained where her companions and their team? Monty was going in with a type disadvantage, even though Oracle was a great battler, Absol wasn't known for its high defenses. Then Esther and her dragon seemed to depend more on strategy than brute force, but so did Viola. Could she pull one over the veteran trainer?

"This is exciting." Azumi clapped her hands together, wanting to know the results as soon as possible. "I wish you the best of luck, break a hip!" She told Monty with a thumbs up.

Stretched between the two trainers, was Shellos apparently using its body and 『Sticky Hold』 to glue the duo together.

“Haha, I guess she likes the name, La Bamba it is!”

Esther didn’t mind being stuck to Reina and besides, she figured Bamba would eventually let go...right? So rather than fuss over the details, Esther turned her attention to Feebas.

“Are you okay, Feebas? I’m sorry I captured you, but you were in bad shape, and I needed to get you to the pokémon center. I can take you home if you’d like but...”

A grimace came to Esther’s lips, she had heard about Feebas’ peculiar circumstances from the Nurse Joy of Blue Point Isle. Feebas wasn’t exactly a wild pokémon, but its situation was...complicated. Frankly, Esther wasn’t sure she had any business sticking her nose into it but neither was she comfortable leaving Feebas to her own devices. It was quite a pickle.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

Reina looked at the sticky substance that kept them together. She worried a bit about how they were going to swim, but she had her Lapras out. Instead she tried not to intervene in the moment Esther and her Pokemon were having. She used her time to take a look around, maybe there was some more treasure. Sadly, there was still smoke lingering and the rest was pretty much an empty room.

"I'm just going to hold on to you, so we can swim, you two keep talking." Reina whispered, placing her hand around Esther's waist, so the trainer could have her hands free for her Feebas.

Rain used her other hand to hang on to Storm's shell. The tired Lapras let out a soft cry, a small warning, before it began to move through the ship. It wasn't moving too fast, her size made it difficult to swim quickly, but she didn't also want to leave the Feebas behind.

Naka Dex...

Naka had to actually hold the aqua-breather to her lips, and the sound she was making transmitted through the tech, letting everyone hear her Skwovet giggles. Which was mildly embarrassing. "Oh, Arceus. Why?" She asked rhetorically, figuring Aldon was going to answer anyway. Desmond then responded with a compliment, and she looked over to smile at him. "Thanks! Been studying Pokemon since I was ten, and even went to college. It's... Been a wild ride..." She chuckled, reminiscing before looking back at Desmond. "Before you know it, with all these travels and such, you'll be a walking book- with picturesque photos." She chuckled a bit, finding the whole photography business pretty cool considering all the places he was going to see.

Iwa was happily swimming alongside Desmond, grinning and making a warbling chirp at Politoed, signifying her contented feeling with being near them. They were chill, and it felt a bit better than having to be around Brute Tooth's fiery energy all the time.

As Aldon asked the Barraskewda, Brute Tooth deadpanned at the question, shaking his head. He just didn't really feel like it. Yeah, he breached the surface and caught air plenty of times, but never to catch anything that wasn't food being thrown at him from Naka or to be used in a battle.

The Sigilyph made an awful noise to Naka's ears, and that made her senses tingling. She looked around, seeing the silhouette of a Gyarados lurking under them. It was definitely searching for which Pokemon bled.

Naka pulled on the reins, and the brown trout stopped. She was staring directly at the Gyarados, and the Barraskewda's eyes caught sight of the Pokemon. Not looking away from the Gyarados, she spoke to the two men. "I suggest you get back up on shore. I need to make sure Esther and Reina can get back here safely. Plus, I can't lead him towards us..." She muttered. The scent of blood was probably still on the Barraskewda, so being near them was now a danger. A chill ran down Naka's spine, but it only made her grin wide. "Unless... You want to take a picture of me doing something incredibly dangerous." She laughed maybe a bit too maniacally, and shook the reins. "Aqua Jet!"

Cloaking itself in water to reduce the water drag to a minimal amount if not nothing, Brute Tooth pulled Naka along in a blur. Luckily, Naka had the reins wrapped around her wrist so she wouldn't let go. The Gyarados felt the presence of something coming towards him, but before he had time to turn around, the Barraskewda used the predator's long body to hide them from his gaze. The Gyarados's sleek, scaly body wasn't insensitive to touch nor the currents being disrupted, and a roar resounded from the Atrocious Pokemon. Even still, the Barraskewda and Naka were too fast and swam up the back of the disoriented and angry Gyarados to the top of his head. With the bloody scent still on Barraskewda and Naka now holding on to the middle prong of the three-pronged crest at his head by wrapping the reins and hooking her arm around it, she now can lead and steer the now upset Gyarados as if he were a Hippopotas with a berry at the end of a stick.

Hopefully, this gave Reina and Esther enough time to swim out and get away safely. However, that proved to be a bit difficult as the Gyarados now was doing aquatic acrobatic maneuvers to get Naka and her Barraskewda off. Loop-de-loops, trying to bash the two with his tail (to which the Barraskewda defended them with a Poison Jab, the oozing purple face of the Skewer Pokemon smashing into the tail to bounce it back), and even trying to bash them into other objects (to which Naka hugged near the base of the crest and the Barraskewda used either Drill Run to make a crater or break the object to prevent them from bashing into it or using Whirlpool to create a current that bounced them back and pushed against the Gyarados's head just a bit to save them). Each attack caused the Gyarados to be even more upset as he roared, viciously thrashing his body around.

Then, his body began glowing white as he prepped to use Thrash, needing to get these annoying gnats off of him! Naka still held on for dear life, her Barraskewda grinning at how absolutely upset the Gyarados was. What was even worse for the Water/Flying-Type was that he was starting to feel sick. The poisons from the Poison Jab have made it into his bloodstream and it was starting to sap away his stamina.

Man, he wanted to vomit, and he didn't want to know what any of his lunch looked like upchucked into the water.

Damn humans and their stupid resorts!

Meanwhile, Iwa gawked as her trainer up and left and was treating the Gyarados like some Tauros!! She groaned, playing dead as she rolled over belly up, fainting from witnessing the sheer reckless stupidity of her trainer.

Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - A park in Eterna City, Sinnoh
Gwen simply waited beside Naka, simply listening to her and the vendor talk while her own mind already was anticipating the gym battle there in Eterna. Gardenia was known as the 'Master of Vivid Plant Pokemon'. She had a plan to catch some pokemon to help out Cobalt as he had quite the type disadvantage against the plethora of grass pokemon, but failed to catch any. Mostly because Cobalt either scared away, jumped at her or did something else to make her fail her attempt at catching pokemon. It.. was still something that she and him had to work on, but now with Ozzy, maybe things would sort out. Eventually.... Err, hopefully.

Gwen snapped out of her thoughts when Naka was about to hand her corndogs, happily taking them, "Ah! Thank you so much Naka! she smiled at the woman with a grin.

The young trainer happily skipped away to the park ready to toss out her pokemon, but was amazed to see Naka's team, "You have so many cool pokemon!" Gwen exclaimed with a giddy voice and then threw out her two pokemon as well.

Cobalt landed on the grass, flippers crossed with a grumpy expression. Still upset from losing against Naka's Flareon. Ozzy on the other hand tumbled onto the grass and cried out at the smell of food and many other interesting smells, immediately ready to go and explore and by exploring, he meant biting. Cobalt's pout only grew stronger as he saw that puny little dragon still with Gwen. Oh, he'd prove to her that he was the superior pokemon.

Ron Towers, Eterna City, June 16th.

"Finally!" Ron grabbed the first corndog and bit the first half off, chewing intensively.

Luz on the other hand, carefully sniffed her food first, before taking small nibbles at it. Unlike her trainer, who wasn't down chewing and was stuffing his mouth with fries also. The sound of other Pokemon getting released though, brought out the reaction of one of Ron's. The Pokeball attached to his belt wiggled, and from it jumped out a Raichu.

The electric Pokemon shook her body before looking around, sniffing the air. A loud sigh was followed while she stretched her paws into the air along with her tail and long legs. She was finally free, Marley the Raichu. If she didn't get out on her own, Ron would gobble up all the good stuff. Unlike the rest of Ron's team, Marley didn't wait for permission from her trainer to come out, specially during lunch time. With a spunky look, she jumped on to the table, stuffing her cheeks with fries as if trying to compete with her trainer.

"Of, aite." Ron said with a stuffed mouth, tossing three more Pokeballs into the air.

First, the dynamic duo landed, making the ground shake around them a bit. The combined weight of a Blastoise and Tyranitar caused the birds around the area to stop their signing for a bit, until they were safe to continue. The Tyranitar looked around, eyes setting on the other Pokemon, looking for a possible rival. But his attempt to find one was interrupted as Linkin, the Blastoise, bumbed his shoulder against him. The rock dark Pokemon didn't seem amused, pumping his shoulder even harder against Linkin. The two started going at it, testing who would fall first, slamming into each other.

"They'll get tired." Ron said, trying not to concern his companions with the behavior from his Pokemon, "I think."

Second, the flying Pokemon of the team, the bright and shiny Skarmory, The metallic bird took into the sky, making sure the sun got a nice reflection of her body while she showed off her wings. She circled the area a few times, something Ron had trained her to do in case anyone suspicious was around their campsite. Even in a safe area, she did her duty, and always did an excellent job with her Keen Eye ability. A few circles around the group and she flew down, perching on to a strong tree branch, making sure nobody got close to her, not wanting to get her shiny feathers stained.

Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous

Interactions: Gwen Tucker, Cobalt the Piplup, and Ozzy the Deino (IDKWhatUserNameToDo), Ron Towers, Linkin the Blastoise, Monstar the Tyranitar, Evanes the Skarmory, Marley the Raichu, and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro)

"You're welcome, hun." Naka's motherliness reared its head when Gwen thanked her, making her cheeks flare up a bit as she didn't know where that came from and she really didn't want to prove the vendor right because he wasn't right. Though, the opinion of the stranger was quickly pulled away from her mind when she heard Gwen exclaim about her cool looking Pokemon.

Ron was absolutely hilarious. Naka snorted and laughed when he aggressively began eating his food, a Raichu popping out right when food was being eaten. And then three more Pokemon popped out. A Blastoise, Tyranitar, and a Skarmory.

Man... Naka's cheeks were turning red.

She fought this guy??? She felt her respect grow for him even more and she laughed at her own reaction to seeing such a well-built team. "Man, looks like you can topple an Elite Four member with this team ya got." She grinned, noticing Ron hadn't taken to any of her compliments earlier, so maybe one about his Pokemon worked. She chuckled though, seeing the Tyranitar and Blastoise push arms against one another. She began placing the food in front of or near all the Pokemon so they got to have some food before sitting down at a picnic bench, setting one basket for Fluffy near her and setting one on the table for Chu.

Noting all the Pokemon, Naka first watched Cobalt's and Ozzy's actions and reactions. Ozzy was extremely excited about all these new scents - of which Naka figured was the case as her own Deino, while reserved, acted much the same way. But now she got to hear the little rambunctious noises of the Deino she loved so much and it was actually making her misty-eyed.

Just so KYUTE...

Though, she did notice Cobalt's mean mugging at Ozzy - not that Ozzy would have seen anyway. Why was the Piplup so against the Deino? She got up and walked over to Gwen, corndog in hand as she spoke a bit quietly. "Just realized something... Why haven't you gotten any other Pokemon? I'm assuming you have just started your journey but at this time, most trainers would have two or four Pokemon at this point." It was certainly odd and she was wondering if the pride of the Piplup had anything to do with it as his behavior towards Ozzy was suspect. Eterna Forest was teeming with life, so she was surprised that Gwen didn't at least pick up some Pokemon from the forest, like a Murkrow or a Hoothoot, or even a Bidoof or a Wurmple. Or maybe even a Budew.

Superior lifeform, my ass.

Meanwhile, the Zweilous had smelled another one of its kind. Another Deino. The two-headed beast ignored the other sounds around it, tunneling in on this new smell. He crawled forward, sniffing the earth and using his ears until he finally found Ozzy. Orochi tilted both heads, getting close to get a good look at the Deino. If Ozzy bit them, the Zweilous would let out a sort of chuckling growl and playfully knock one of their heads against Ozzy's side, wanting to play a little.

Fluffy's fur bristled at the new noises and scents. He just wanted to be alooooone... Looking over his fluffy tail, he spied the Espeon and stalked around to avoid being seen by the larger Pokemon until he was beside her. Did he want cuddles? Well, he sure as hell ain't gonna ask. He just sat and laid down beside her, huffing as a bit of an ember flew out of his mouth - an attempt at cooling his core temperature.

Seeing another one of its same evolutionary family had the Pichu squeaking with joy. She hopped off the Budew statue and ran up to the Raichu, hopping on one alternating foot like a Hoothoot, and holding up her hands to be picked up. Then she realized Marley was eating. She went to grab some fries from her own basket and gave some to her, showing her willingness to be good friends.

Aero watched the two Pokemon duke it out by pushing one another. It was honestly entertaining, but he wasn't willing to get into that mess. The Skarmory looked interesting and really lustrous though. Wanting to gain a new friend, Aero had taken his food and sat beside the Skarmory, speaking to her in coos and throaty trills as he gave a compliment to her metallic sheen and how much work was put into that because it looked gorgeous~.

Yuki was almost offended by the show of barbarity from the two large Pokemon however, and she scoffed as she kept to the outer perimeter of the small park, daintily holding a fry in her hand as if the very salt would make her look like a horrible, greasy scumbag and destroy her skin (which it might but she enjoyed comfort food as much as a human did, not that she wanted to admit that).

Hanu the Infernape, however, was eyeing the two large Pokemon with a gleam in his eye. They looked like they were having fun and he wanted to join! So that's what he did. Instead of being a menace though, he swung off the bar he was swinging on and landed in front of the two. They were tall, standing a whole two feet taller than he! But that didn't deter Hanu! The chimp puffed out his chest and looked up at them with a cheeky sort of grin only a monkey like him can muster. If they laughed... Well, he was going to show them! That is... If they acknowledged him.

He pointed at them, challenging them to a friendly shove off of strength. Considering this Infernape was trained by Naka's father's Hariyama, he thought he could handle tougher and larger Pokemon than his frame would suggest. He was able to nearly deadlift that Hariyama either way (that thing being nearly 560 lbs or 254 kg), so this was going to be easy! So, he readied himself, and football tackled his shoulder into the Tyranitar first.

July 1 - Santalune City, Kalos

Viola - @Hecotoro

"THE BATTLE BETWEEN CHALLENGER MONTAGNE AND LEADER VIOLA IS ABOUT TO COMMENCE!"

The atmosphere on the battlefield was completely different from up in the stands. Monty felt his blood begin to rise, his body heating up in anticipation of a fight, and his eyes went a little wide in preparation to survey the action. Oracle held her head high at his side, her fur already bristling and her Pressure already leaking out, and her tail lashed back and forth.

"It's not often I see an Absol in my gym!" Viola called out from across the way. Monty said nothing in response, but the leader continued anyway. "Fantastic. Just fantastic! I like that look in your eyes! It says 'Bring it on!' You'll be the perfect subjects!"

Both trainers lifted a ball, Monty's a Dusk and Viola's the classic red and white Poké Ball, and their pokémon materialized in synchronized flashes.

"AROOOO!" Chauffemagne howled as he took to the field, his nose smoking and his jaws snarling as he stared down his opponent. There Surskit was, in all of its Bug/Water-type glory, zig-zagging back and forth in front of Viola. No sense in letting it stay on the field for long, they'd take care of it quick.

Based on his previous trainer battles, controlling the momentum would be key. Luckily Chauffemagne had just the tool in his arsenal. "ROAR!"

The Houndour puffed up his chest, drawing in a huge breath before expelling it in a raucous cacophony of visible soundwaves. If they could force out the Vivillon, Chauffemagne could avoid his type disadvantage against Surskit. He just had to hope the butterfly wasn't stronger than he thought.

"Not letting, you gain momentum on your first move!" Viola held up her fingers, making a square frame with them, "Bubble away ma Surskit!"

The blue water bug swiftly moved across the field, towards the Houndour. White foam began to form from the antenna on top of her head, spreading across the field and landing on Chauffemagne. It was as much as she could do, since Houndour roared away Surskit back into her Pokeball.

Viola didn't seemed bothered though, as her ace emerged from her own Pokeball. Vivillon came out, wings spread out and dancing with the soft gust of wind coming through the gym windows.

"I've got my eyes on victory!"

Vivillon swayed to the sides, a green aura covering her body while millions of tiny bugs began to emerged from the ground, creeping towards Chauffemagne.

Chauffemagne let out a pained grunt as the <<Bubble>> connected, and his fur steamed up wherever one of the spheres hit. His battle lust remained undamaged, though, and the Houndour set his glare on Viola's Vivillon.

Vivillon used some sort of move on entry, Monty was sure of it. The green aura was a tell-tale sign, and the criminal recognized it from the previous battle; <<Infestation>>. There! Movement on the battlefield, a smear of black rapidly swarming toward Chauffemagne.

"Fire Spin, then jump up and use Incinerate on the ground!" Viola wouldn't let them control the momentum, eh? Let's see how she liked this.

Smoke poured from Chauffemagne's nose as he released <<Fire Spin>>, expelling the fiery lasso with a FWOOSH! The Houndour crouched down as more fire gathered in his jaws, and he LEAPT! up as <<Incinerate>> CRASHED! onto the battlefield.

The swarming bugs from <<Infestation>> lit up like a pile of tinder, and Chauffemagne returned to the ground with a fierce snarl.

"Oh using fire completely against us? I love it!"

Viola aimed her frame at the ground, where the infestation once stood, now a pile of ashes. The Fire Spin was well on its way, directly for her Vivillon. If they were to continue fighting, they need to get closer to their opponent.

"Show 'em! Infestation again, go forth with Tackle!" Vivillon's body once again began creating an army of small bugs around the Houndour. The green energy around the bug turned white and she headed straight into the Fire Spin, bursting through it after taking a serious burn to her wings. The Tackle was heading directly at Chauffemagne while the Infestation tried to grip it.

Tch. The second <<Infestation>> took root around Chauffemagne's paws, and the Houndour fruitlessly tried to burn them away as they crawled up his legs. They were both on timers now, but who would go down first?

Monty stood unwavering as the glowing-white Vivillon charged Chauffemagne. Viola seemed confident in the face of the Houndour's flames, but they'd burn it away as surely as they did the Vespiqueen. Calling for Tackle just made Vivillon a closer target. "Keep your distance, INCINERATE!"

Chauffemagne dutifully complied, his nose puffing with smoke as he sent another FWOOSH! of fire at the incoming Vivillon. As soon as the flames left his jaws, the Houndour went on a backpedal. The swarming <<Infestation>> tracked his movements, crawling up his legs and biting furiously, but the Vivillon was equally hindered.

The vortex of <<Fire Spin>> raged around it, closing in and SCORCHING! the butterfly pokémon as it DIVED! toward Chauffemagne.

"Yes! These shots are going to be fantastic!" Vivillon went all out into the fire, taking the Incinerate directly. The bug flying Pokemon cried out as it felt the energy leaving her body, but not before putting it all on the Tackle. With her last efforts she crashed into the Houndour, only for her body to hit the floor afterwards.

Chauffemagne was a spirited pup, but he wasn't invincible. He was sent rolling after Vivillon CRASHED! into him with <<Tackle>>, and he didn't get back up. That was fine. He served his role, and he did it better than Monty expected.

One down, one to go.

"You did your best!" Viola smiled as she held out her Pokeball, recalling the fainted Pokemon back. She gave Monty a firm nod, while reaching for the Pokemon he had forced to switch out earlier. The Pokeball flew threw the air, and once again, Surskit took the stage. "Let's make this snappy!"

Sparse applause sounded from the audience as Monty recalled Chauffemagne to his Dusk Ball. "Oracle, you're up."

About time! The Absol strode onto the battlefield from Monty's side, her fur ruffled and her venomous glare set on the opposing Surskit. Her suppressed Pressure finally spilled over, flooding off of her and pouring onto the battlefield, and her claws scraped at the ground as she readied herself for combat with the little blue peon.

The queen of the field had arrived, and the Surskit would bow before her.

"Double Team, take the fight to them." They'd use the clones to draw the wide range of Surskit's <<Bubble>> and give Oracle enough time to close the distance. While Bug-Type attacks were super effective against her, her Dark-Type attacks weren't resisted by Surskit. They'd wrap this up quick.

Oracle glowed with white energy as she split off into nearly a dozen mirror-Absols. Each one stayed glowing as they SURGED! forward, propelled by <<Quick Attack>>.

"Woo! A photo op!"

Surskit was eager to get started but it seemed her opponent was also. The Absol broke into a combo of attacks right off the bat, multiplying and using Quick Attack back to back. But, Oracle wasn't the only one with quick moves and tricks up her sleeve.

"Quick Attack, Water Sport!"

Surskit moved away from the the incoming attacks, only being able to buy about a second or two, but enough for her to shoot a blast of water from her antenna. As the water landed on the arena, it started to create a muddy mess. For the Surskit, it was fine, being able to glide soundlessly over wet surfaces was her specialty, but for Oracle? Her paws would give away her position easily!

Oracle's paws splashed through the mud, spattering her pristine white coat. These peons dragging her down to their level was getting old! First Esther's bothersome drake, and now this contemptable insect was getting her dirty?

She and her clones moved with equal speed to their opponent, all of them boosted by <<Quick Attack>>, but as the true Oracle got closer she dispelled the energy. It was replaced by a crackling of black sparks up and down her limbs, and she SHOT! forward even faster than her clones.

Her horn glowed with black energy, and she angled it to catch the Surskit with a direct hit.

Monty stood tall as he watched his partner close in, waiting for the moment where she'd need a guiding command. He trusted her judgement in battle, but the syllables of Detect were on the tip of his tongue regardless.

"Surskit, up up!" The water bug Pokemon jumped, turning upside in the air. A cocky smile as she saw her opponent closing in on her. A jet of bubbles exploded from under Surskit, rocketing her into the air. It wasn't over yet, she kept using Bubble, spinning around and sending waves of foamy bubbles all over the arena.

"Perfect shot!" Viola called out, camera on hand and snapping quick pictures.

An insect in flight was an insect all the same. Skittering. Cowering. Beneath her. Oracle used the momentum from <<Sucker Punch>> to launch upwards, and the black energy dispersed as her eyes lit up blue.

Useless Monty called for "DETECT!" Oracle was way ahead of him.

Her movements became almost impossibly acrobatic as she weaved around the chaotic <<Bubble>> streams, deftly avoiding them as most of her <<Double Team>> clones were dispelled by the watery onslaught. Her momentum quickly wore thin, but it was enough to reach her target.

Pressure poured off of her, assaulting the Surskit with phantom weight as the Absol gathered jet-black energy in her scythe-like horn. She craned her neck back, her horn poised like a raised guillotine blade, and she WRENCHED! down; <<Night Slash!>>

Surskit smashed into the ground, after taking the Night Slash directly. The bug splattered mud all over as it collided with the wet ground of the arena. Viola waited patiently for any reaction from her Pokemon, to know if the battle was still to continue. After a close observation, she sighed.

"Ugh, no one enjoys losing..."

"AND IN A FANTASTIC FINISH, THE WINNER IS CHALLENGER MONTAGNE!" Applause thundered from the stands, and both trainers walked to the center of the field to exchange words.

Viola raised her Pokeball and returned Surskit, pocketing the item as she did so before drawing something else from her pocket: the Bug Badge.

Monty swaggered to the center, his head held high and a grin across his face as he locked eyes with his opponent. No, not just his opponent; the gym leader he defeated. He hardly heard the applause, to wrapped up in his victory to hear much of anything, but Oracle basked in the glory of her win.

The Absol looked into the crowd, her expression as satisfied as her trainer had ever seen it, but it held more than satisfaction. She was gloating. She won the battle, after all. Oracle turned to Monty as she handed him the badge, the fruit of her labor, and her eyes narrowed. He had better not take all of her credit.

"Thanks for the battle, I got some perfect shots out of it," Viola said to Monty as she passed him the badge, tapping her camera with the other hand. The criminal accepted it graciously, feeling the badge's weight in his large hand, and returned Viola's thanks for the battle. He figured it was the polite thing to do after beating her.

Monty and Oracle turned to leave the field as the announcer's voice rang through the speakers.

"THE NEXT BATTLE WILL BE BETWEEN CHALLENGER ESTHER AND LEADER VIOLA!"

~Aldon...~

~Yellow Island, July 19th...~

"All sorts of research I bet! I need to get some of that stuff done myself too" Aldon commented. Most of the people were ready to go, and so was Aldon. It wouldn't be long till the sun went down. Aldon then looked at Barraskewda which shook its head. Wunder was equally happy to be with various pokémon. Skol looked too calm to tell whether it was happy or not, but he was.

"Well that's okay then!" Aldon commented again.

Aldon heard Naka mention picture and he just had to do it.

"Yeah, yeah yeah! Desmond! Desmond!! Take my picture!" Aldon said pointing at the fast approaching gyarados. Aldon waited there a few moments so he could get his picture taken with the gyarados. He grinned excitedly before eventually making the smart move to head topside. He grabbed ahold of Wunder. Aldon saw Naka fighting the gyarados.

"I'll help you! Wunder, use hypnosis on the gyarados and get us outta here!!!" Aldon called out.

"Lyyyyyyyph!" the Wunder sounded off before attempting to hypnotize the gyarados. Aldon grabbed onto the sigilyph whom began to float through the water upwards. Skol swam upwards following them.

"Now that was a close one! Gonna be nice standing on dry land again...!" Aldon said feeling relieved.

Ron Towers, Eterna City, June 16th.

"Hm?" Ron looked over at his team, he hadn't considered challenging someone like the Elite Four, but he wasn't concerned with that right now, in fact, he should be getting information out of Naka. "Does your boyfriend know you go around beating up thugs in the woods? Or is it like a secret like Crobatman?"

Luz was quietly nibbling on her food, but her senses detected the new arrival almost immediately. Not only the familiar smell, but also the change in temperature around her. Her ears perked up as she careful chewed her food, lifting her nose into the air to confirm who had approached her. It was indeed the fire version of her species. Was he hungry? Sharing is caring and no way would Luz let someone suffer from hunger when she had more than enough food. The Espeon scooted over, inching the plate away from her a bit, not having exactly pinpointed the location of her companion yet, but giving clear indications that he was welcome to the meal.

Marely turned around, her eyes setting on the Pichu as she chewed the food stuffed in her cheeks. With a smile she took the offering, stuffing her cheeks even more, before picking up the Pichu like a hand bag and starting to feed it. If it was to be her disciple, she had decided, then it needed to get big and strong. Marley of course was the drummer like her trainer, this Pichu, needed to learn the guitar. They could share being vocalist meanwhile. Marley cried out happily as her band had gained a new member, offering more food to the electric mouse.

Evans meanwhile watched the Aerodactyl, making sure he wasn't bringing anything that could ruin her comfort soon. To her liking, it seemed it just wanted company. However, Evans preferred to just watched others, not getting into conversations. She would allow the flying Pokemon to remain with her and even show off her feathers, spreading her wings open to demonstrate she was of top quality and then perching down again, eyes focused on the rest of the team.

Monstar growled as he felt a tackle from a third party. It seemed the monkey didn't know his place, but what made him even more upset, was Linkin chuckling at the scene. Of course Linkin was laughing, he had no pride. The Tyranitar groaned and began walking away, not wanting to be involved with someone else who annoyed him. Linkin on the other hand welcomed the fiery friend. He braced himself, stand firm and signaling his shoulder, ready to take a hit from the Infernape. Hanu had taken on Furia, so Linkin was interested to test his strength.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond listened as Naka seemed to outline her history, as she seemed to study Pokemon since she was a kid and even went to a college which Desmond figured Poke Courses were to be expected from someone who seemed to know this much off the top of her head. Though she mentioned that he would gain as much knowledge by the time he had finished seeing the world and completed his catalogue as Desmond seemed to divert his gaze behind his breathing gear.

"Suppose we'll see..." Desmond said to himself more than anything.

Politoed of course smiled a bit at Iwa as the cute little fish proved to be an easy enough companion and it was nice to have a warmer presence that hopefully would rub off on Desmond but the jury remained uncertain on that.

What was more certain was something big seemed to be below them. Politoed had sensed it and looked down as Desmond seemed to notice others pick up on it and glanced down as he say the sillouette of....G-g-gyarados!

"So this is it, this is how I die. In the middle of the sea. What a miserable trip..."

Desmond seemed to panic a bit as his face was paled over and he nearly choked as he had to adjust his breathing apparatus as Politoed swam by it and tried to offer support as Desmond worked to get his breathing in order. Aldon's comment though had not helped as he shot a glare at the young man.

"I AIN'T TAKING ANY PICTURE OF SOMETHING THAT COULD EAT ME!" Desmond yelled out before he tried to settle his breathing. It was okay, it was okay, it had been below them and seemed to search for whatever Pokemon had been bleeding. None of their Pokemon seemed to be bleeding, so as long as they continued to swim away and had left well enough alone they'd be okay...

"W-what is she doing!?"

Desmond's eyes bugged out as Naka seemed to decide to be some Pokemon Ranger and would go to deal with the Gyarados as she had concern over Reina and Esther as even her own Wishiwashi seemed dumbfounded by thi plan. Fine, if she wanted to be the hero and risked being Gyarados chow that was...d-damn it what was Aldon doing!?

"You idiot we need to go." Desmond cursed, but Politoed also seemed to be in a hero mode as it swam over to lend a hand to a stupefied Photographer as it bit his lip and seemed to shake in place. Idiots, every one of them!

Politoed was grabbed by the hand as he began to swim up to the surface with Aldon, and on his other hand he seemed to hold Iwa up close on a reflex as he tried to get out of dodge quickly.

It looked like Seadra had given Bamba quite the scare because the Shellos showed no intention of letting go, even as its body distended as Esther tried to dislodge it. Eventually, Esther gave up. All she got for her troubles was some weird, icky, goo. Exasperation bubbled from her rebreather, and she focused her attention on Feebas.

“How abo—”A fury-filled ROAR, drowned Esther’s words. “That sounded close...really close.”

Esther pushed off Storm’s back, Bamba stretched to keep her tethered as she found a porthole and carefully peered outside...

“Reeiiina, Naka’s trying to fist-fight a Gyarados!”

Esther watched the battle carefully, trying to confirm a suspicion she had. For the near-hour that they’d been present, Viola’s Surskit, thought fast and powerful, had never used a bug-type move. Coincidence? She didn’t think so. Esther had taken a moment to look at the common moves Surskit learned and truly, it learned very few bug-type moves naturally. If that were the case...

When Monty’s battle had ended and her own name was called, Esther had a battle-plan ready. She surged to her feet, taking the stairs three at a time until she was on the battlefield; she hadn’t forgotten to offer Monty a congratulatory Hi-Five on the way down. The was feeling a bit nervous, this being her first gym battle and all, but this wasn’t her first time on stage, so she wasn’t as nervous as she could’ve been.

Once she’d settled in, clapping her cheeks twice to shake off any lingering jitters, Esther turned to Viola and gave a thumbs up. “I’m ready!”

"You've got this." Monty offered some words of encouragement as he passed Esther on the way back up to the stands, returning her hi-five with a grin. Even Oracle, still high on victory, didn't bother to give the bothersome girl a glare as they walked by.

Monty and Oracle took their places next to their other companions, and the criminal leaned forward to watch the match. Esther and Pyrrha gave Oracle a run for her money that morning, and he wanted to see exactly what else the girl was capable of. He hadn't caught most of her battling exploits on Parterre Way, too busy stealing the honey for her and Nico, adn he silently lamented the fact.

For the sake of the tournament, only a few days away now, Monty had to be sure that their earlier bout wasn't a fluke.

"My lens is focused on victory! Nothing can ruin these shots!" Viola called from across the battlefield. The leader drew a poké ball and pressed the red-and-white sphere's release, and Surskit materialized in front of her in a FLASH! of white light. The pond skater zigged and zagged, dancing across the packed dirt field thanks to slimy secretions on its legs.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"Is she really?" Reina let herself be pulled by the Shellos, bumping into Esther and pressing her cheek against her to get a peek through the porthole, "Silly. That's not fighting, but I don't think she should be doing that. Come on, let's go help."

Reina reached out for Storm, grabbing on once again to her shell as the Lapras led them safely out of the ship. The situation was as weird as it could get, for some strange reason, Naka was grabbing on to the Gyarados like if she was riding some Tauros. Maybe it was some Johto tradition Reina didn't know about or Naka was just insane.

"I feel we should help, but I can't battle a Gyarados while she's on it." Reina said as the Lapras swam a bit faster towards the surface, noticing the Gyarados and her lack of energy. "I think we should stay just in case." Reina's voice made Storm whimper.

Lapras knew better than to try and fight after having been in a tough battle earlier while trying to protect Reina and Esther at the same time. It seemed the situation was about to get worse, but if she had no other choice... A sigh of relief left Storm as Peque swam up and positioned himself in front of them. He look a bit shaken, but in way better shape than Storm.

"Just get ready for anything, Peque." Reina set her gaze on the ongoing struggle between the insane Naka and the poor Gyarados.

‘Perfect!’ A grin bloomed on Esther’s face as she picked a pokéball from her waist and felt it balloon in her hand. “You’ve got this sweat pea, go!”

The pokéball burst open to reveal a small, pink pokémon with an angry scowl on its face. Esther’s choice was the Mangosteen pokémon, Bounsweet.

“Let’s start off cutely Tarah, «Play Nice»!”

Tarah scoffed but nevertheless, she bounced on her stubby legs and spin in place. When she’d completed one revolution, the angry scowl she wore had been replaced by amicable charm as her natural scent was amplified to make Surskit hesitate to attack her, lowering its physical offense.

The snick-snick-snick of Viola's camera rattled out as she snagged shots of Bounsweet in action. "How lucky for me, I don't think I've ever faced a Bounsweet in a challenge!" Her camera dropped from her hands, and the leader brought them up to frame the battlefield in front of her.

"<<Water Sport>> on the field! Let's get some more dynamic shots!" Surskit SPRAYED! a shower of water over the dirt surface, making it muddy once again and allowing it more freedom of movement.

"Now slow her down, ma Surskit! <<Bubble>> away!" The pond skater seemed almost reluctant to abide by the command, its eyes wide and sparkling as it looked at the opposing Bounsweet, but nonetheless its slick, lithe legs carried it ZOOMING! across the muddy battlefield.

Energy gathered in the blue bug's horn, and once it got closer to Bounsweet it unleashed a torrent of bubbles in its direction.

“We’re powering through, «Razor Leaf»!”

Tarah bounced into a spin, each rotation flinging jagged leaves in Surskit’s direction. Neither Esther nor Tarah seemed concerned with evading that Bubble attack and neither seemed phased when the Bubbles landed a direct hit. Esther knew water attacks wouldn’t do much to Tarah as a grass type; that was part of why she’d chosen her in the first place. Rather than worry about Tarah, the Oblivians eyes roamed over the field, sizing up the puddles of water that had been created and contemplating her next move.

The <<Razor Leaf>> tore through Surskit's bubbes, popping them with ease and slicing at the pond skater just as easily. SNICK-SNICK-SNICK! Perfect! The pokémon captured the struggle of opposing types fantastically!

The struggle was leaning a little more in Bounsweet's favor than Surskit's, though. The former was unfazed by the bubbles, and the latter had taken some decent damage. "Line it up, Surskit! <<Quick Attack>>!"

The blue bug glowed with white energy, and ZOOMED! toward its red-and-green opponent!

Quick Attack! A crafty gleam flashed through Esther’s eyes. This kind of speed wasn’t something any of her pokémon could match, so her strategy was simple.

“Meet it head-on, «Play Rough»!”

Tarah’s face warped into something sadistic and she advanced with deceptive light bounds. Her full weight came bouncing with her as she moved to CRASH into the blue-yellow blur that was Surskit. With Surskit’s reduced attack, the exchange was in their favor, they could keep trading blows until one side fell and it wouldn’t be Tarah. All things to plan, Surskit’s fate was sealed. It was just a matter of time.

"Fantasic, FANTASTIC!" Viola frantically snapped photos of Bounsweet and Surskit's exchange, each pokémon fighting to their fullest to be the last one standing.

Pride. Heart. The drive to win. Bounsweet's gleeful expression, evidently glad to showcase its strength. Surskit's determination to prove why it was Viola's chosen gym challenge pokémon. The photographer couldn't have asked for a better chance to capture it all!

Surskit couldn't hold out forever, though. Viola got one last shot of Bounsweet landing a particularly critical hit of <<Play Rough>> before her water-bug fell to the mud.

"SURSKIT IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" The announcer's voice rang out as the leader returned Surskit to its ball.

"We got some great shots, pal," she said softly as she drew a second poké ball. She released the pokémon within, and a Vivillon with a dark green pattern burst onto the scene.

"Don't get too cocky, Esther!" Viola called to her young opponent. "The field is your frame, Vivillon! <<Infestation>>, and <<Harden>>!"

Vivillon spread her wide green wings, her body glowing with yellowish-green energy, and when she BEAT! them down a swarm of drones emerged from the field and RACED! toward Bounsweet. Her yellow-green glow was replaced with white immediately after as she fortified her physical defense.

Esther breathed a sigh of relief as her gamble paid off. It seemed Surskit really didn’t know any bug-type moves and they had secured the first victory. However, the next would be harder to accomplish. Viola’s Vivillon immediately started out with Infestation, a tricky bug-type move that frankly, Esther had no answers to. As the itsy bitsy swarm consumed her pokémon, Esther waged an internal war—should she have Tarah tough it out or was it time for Pyrrha to make an appearance?

The Oblivian had never expected Tarah to take on both of Viola’s pokémon, but this was a gym challenge so she couldn’t afford to give up her lead too easily.

While Esther debated, Tarah made a snort of disgust. The Oblivian watched as Tarah kicked into hyper-speed, performing a whirling dervish that flung the infestation from her body; «Rapid Spin». Esther goggled. She...uh, didn’t know Tarah could do that.

When Bounsweet finished her spin she appeared lighter and more nimble than before, Esther recognized the subtle change in movements—her speed had increased. As Esther stared, Tarah threw a dirty look back at her trainer.

Esther sheepishly clasped her hands in offered apology. The decision was made.

“Alright, we’re pushing through till the end! «Synthesis» into «Play Rough»!”

Tarah drew in sunlight, the frays, and tears in her leafage restoring themselves rapidly. A moment later she locked onto Vivillon and took off—she'd beat it into the ground...if she could get her hands on it.

This was the real crux of Esther’s plan; she’d rely on Tarah’s recovery and ferocity to brute-force her way through the battle. It wasn’t exactly tactical genius, but it was paying dividends. Once they dished out as much damage as they could, then Pyrrha could mop up!

Viola eyes widened a little as Bounsweet spun itself free of Vivillon's <<Infestation>>. She got a great shot of the fruit pokémon fending off the encroaching critters, and one of the subsequent <<Synthesis>>. The spreading of Bounsweet's petals to catch the light was magnifiqué!

"Today is just full of surprises! <<Infestation>> again, Vivillon, then zoom in with <<Tackle>>!"

The Bounsweet, made faster by <<Rapid Spin>> was closing in on the dark-green butterfly faster than Viola preferred. They'd try and throw it off with the second swarm of bugs, and make an opening for a swift tackle.

Vivillon oscillated between yellow-green and white glows as she sent the skittering swarm at her opponent, and she SWOOPED! down with her wings outstretched to meet the fruit pokémon head on. The pokémon clashed in a fury of pink and white light, and even though Bounsweet recovered her health Viola was betting Vivillon could take more hits.

“Hold off then throw it off with «Rapid Spin» and then «Play Rough»!”

The swarm of bugs was back, and Tarah struggled to follow through on her attack. Esther opted to bite the bullet, withstanding the swarm until Tarah could use Rapid Spin to parry the Tackle. With another increase in speed, Tarah would be light enough to nail Vivillon before it could escape. Afterward, they’d need to find another opportunity for Synthesis, otherwise, Tarah would go down.

There's the money shot! Viola furiously worked her camera as Bounsweet and Vivillon clashed. Esther's commands were solid, but she doubted they'd be enough for the fruit pokémon to take out Vivillon with the earlier defense boost.

White and pink SLAMMED! together, creating a spectacular light show of shimmering colors, but only one of the pokémon would be up to receive the ovation. Without the chance to <<Rapid Spin>> the swarming bugs off, Bounsweet was only able to take a couple hits from Vivillon's <<Tackle>> before she was sent rolling into the mud.

"BOUNSWEET IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!"

The announcer's voice rang through the speakers, and Vivillon flapped up into the air and spread her wings to bask in her victory. She'd been weakened by <<Play Rough>>, but not too drastically. Her and Viola were ready for the second opponent.

Tarah Ta’Ella returned to her pokéball which Esther kissed and softly thanked. She’d done a great job, doing even more than could be expected of her. Pyrrha’s pokéball was the next thing in-hand and soon the drake rattled onto the field and issued a roar of challenge.

“Let’s clean things up Pyrrha, «Dragon Breath»!”

Dragon fire sprayed from Pyrrha’s lips; Esther figured they only needed to land a hit or two to take Vivillon down. The battle was all but over.

What a fantastic opportunity! Two rare pokémon in a row, ripe for the photographing! Viola's shutter moved at lightning speed as she snapped Jangmo-o's raucous entrance, and she called out, "Don't make it easy on them, Vivillon! <<Infestation>>!"

Vivillon's yellow-green glow returned, sending a swarm Pyrrha's way with a WOOSH! of her wings, but it was all but futile. Pyrra's <<Dragon Breath>> washed over the butterfly, bathing her in blue flames, and she SHOT! upward in an attempt to escape some of the blast.

"We're not finished yet! <<Tackle>> dive bomb!" The weakened Vivillon abided her trainer, tucking her wings in as she DIVED! down in a last-ditch effort.

Date: July 19 (26yo)
Location: Underwater near Ogi City, Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Archipelago, Johto
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Mudster the Swampert, Iwa the Wishiwashi, Ludwig the Ludicolo, Aero the Aerodactyl, Brute Tooth the Barraskewda, Huntail, Gorebyss

Interactions: Gyarados, Reina, Storm the Lapras, and Peque the Swampert (Hecotoro), Esther, Bamba the Shellos, and Feebas (kyuukestu), Desmond and Politoed (Godjacob), Aldon, Wunder the Sigilyph, and Skol the Slowpoke (ThAtGuY101)

The ensuing Hypnosis from the Sigilyph had caused the Gyarados to get drowsy. His body was already trying to fight the poison from Brute Tooth's Poison Jab, but that didn't mean his mind was safe from the Hypnosis's lulling wavelengths. Due to the distance, being poisoned, and the current rage of the Gyarados, the status move only aided in making the Gyarados's movements tired and less refined (if thrashing was even considered a refined movement). However, he was still awake and he was still trying to buck off the Naka and Barraskewda.

Iwa had regathered herself from her literally fainting belly up and swam with Desmond. However, she paused when she looked back to see Reina and Esther swimming up to the surface, but also pausing. Were they going to help???

Sighing out a few bubbles, she swam with Desmond until they were close enough to the shore where she can leave him and Aldon behind.

Naka saw Reina and Esther now that the Gyarados's movements were calming and she pointed up to the surface and tried moving them along with wild gestures of her arm to get out of there. Even her Barraskewda shook his head at them.

Iwa swam surprisingly fast for the little fish, making it to the stickified group with the Lapras. Iwa swam right in front of their line of sight, shaking her head. Not wanting to freak out the already tired Lapras or Swampert, Iwa spoke to them and the other Pokemon, letting them know she's Naka's Pokemon, and Naka was doing this to keep their trainers and them safe. Then, she began to glow as adrenaline coursed through her system.

Glowing silhouettes of fish her size began to materialize around them, completely enveloping them in a quickly forming Schooling form. Not only the humans were inside, but all of their Pokemon were hiding inside its hollow body. They'd have to damage the Wishiwashi to get out, but Iwa made her way up to the shore, ignoring any attempts they made to escape to the best of her ability.

The Gyarados had stamina to wreck a whole city or more in just a few days, so why was he getting so tired??!! This human infuriated him, but the Hypnosis earlier that landed aided in making his Thrash practically lose most of its power behind it, the white glowing aura of his Thrash attack was blinking in and out, his move dangerously about to fail. It would still hurt getting hit by this thing, but it wouldn't hurt as badly - no bones would break.

“«Headbutt»!”

Esther & Pyrrha were all too happy to meet Vivillon in a resounding collision. Fresh from her pokéball, Pyrrha had no problem absorbing the swarm; her scales clattered as the itsy-bitsy spiders creeped between gaps in her armor. The itch only fueled her. Pyrrha launched herself to meet Vivillon, again and again, a brutal slugfest that ended when—“VIVILLON IS UNABLE TO BATTLE! THE WINNER IS CHALLENGER ESTHER!”

Esther threw hands; a fist pumped through the air. She rushed onto the field, sweeping Pyrrha into a happy spin. Their first gym badge!
