Reina Cortez, Johto.

Land sweet sweet land. Reina jumped off her Lapras, exhausted like if she had been the one to do the rough swimming. Storm the Lapras seemed a bit tired, but hyped up to witness the Blastoise up close. The trainer looked around, seemed people were starting to gather. It was about time, everything had started so chaotic. She turned to face the rampaging Blastoise.

"Wow it's strong." Reina couldn't admire the amazing power the Pokemon held. In fact, she wanted to be able to wield such a powerful force. "So what's the plan?" She called out, ready to burst back into action.

Did the gym badge and flip phone in Monty's pocket just get heavier? It wasn't inspiration that started him down the path of a trainer; a push was more like it. It was only a touch over three weeks ago that he and Oracle had been brought together, yet even now Monty wasn't sure if he wanted to commit to this lifestyle that they'd been pushed into.

"I've got a lot of people in my corner who wanted to see me try something new," he responded finally. "And the League's been an interesting way to see another side of the region. I suppose that's sort of like my inspiration." Monty reached a hand up to scratch Abnégarde under the chin, and his eyes drifted to the flowerbeds lining the route when he spotted a clearing in the bloom.

A mischievous grin spread across the criminal's face, and he and Oracle exchanged a glance to ensure they were on the same page. They were— the clearing would make for a perfect impromtu battlefield.

"What do you say we move our battle appointment up, madamoiselle?" He pointed the clearing out to Azumi, and Oracle fixed a glare on Nana as her hackles rose.

Azumi

The sudden challenge caught Azumi a bit off guard, she was too invested in Monty's story. She looked surprised for a bit, but determination took over and she nodded firmly.

"It would be my honor. I read that people become true friends after sharing a friendly battle." She began to make her way to the improvised battlefield, taking her side on it.

Nana naturally danced towards the center of it, keeping her eyes on Oracle, challenging the Pokemon to make the first move.

"Oh, not you Nana." Azumi called out, to the Gardevoir's astonishment. "I believe a dark type vs dark type match would be more fun, don't you think?"

Nana sighed, shot Oracle a you got lucky look, and moved gracefully to Azumi's side. The trainer took a PokeBall from her bag and tossed it forward, releasing the Pokemon inside.

A Meowscarada emerged, stretching her arms into the sky before shaking her paws. The grass dark type took one look at Monty and company, then bowed towards them, waving her right hand as she did so.

"That's Lily, my magician." Azumi said proudly.

Lily meowed in reply, standing straight and putting her right leg in front of the other, stretching her arms out and awaiting for the combat to begin.

~Yellow Island, July 19th...~
~Interactions: Desmond and Kricketune...~

Aldon saw the others head back. He listened to Desmond and nodded. The plan to put it to sleep seemed like a good one. But then Desmond said it was burned. Once again, status effectsproves to be a hindrance.

"Burned?! What do you mean burned?! Ah! Fine... They coulda at least told us... I know they saw us and didn't think to say anything! But they'll need us so whatever. Let's head back, guys!" Aldon said. Eventually Bran began to head back and so did Wunder. It was not what Aldon had in mind but it was the best plan for now.

Naka came over on her dinosaur. He wanted to listen to Naka but he couldn't stop looking at Aero. He just had to pet it. That wasn't worth dying for, but it would need to eventually be done.

"Ugh hug. To shore. Ya know, we totally had this, but let's make plans!" He said. When he got back and landed on the ground, be smiled at Skol, whom smiled back.

"Good job" He told Skol, then looked over at Bran and held it in his arms.

"Good job to you too. Rest up, we're gonna need you help again in a bit" Aldon told Bran.

"So like... Now what? Sleep ain't an option. Do you guys think we can knock it out?" Aldon asked.

~Aldon...~

~Abyssal ruins, June 16th...~

Eventually Aldon had made his way back to the rooms with the blocks that he went to first. His pokémon behind him. Something's felt or rathers ounded odd. Strong powerful currents could be seen in the final room. Grates covered various walls where currents flowed through. He could probably have Wunder and Skol both use their psychic abilities carry him through the room, resisting the currents, but the room was too long for that to work.

"Can you two push me as far as you can into the room?" Aldon asked.

They did as he asked. He figured he would ride the currents to the pillar in the center of the room. His mon pushed him in as far as they could, then he was dragged by the currents. Then he was snatched by an intercepting current, pulled into another one. He couldn't tell which one would get him closer to the pillar, so he gestured for Skol to cone in, who obliged. Wunder used his psychic energy to grip Skol to grab Aldon. He pointed at the pillar multiple times, allowing Aldon to be pushed towards the pillar. Then eventually as he got closer, one of the current began pushing him towards the pillar. He slammed into it, but managed to read it.

"The king knows when to stand tall and when to go with the flow"

He pulled himself away from the pillar and was thrown into the current. Eventually he met one of the grates, it was hard to hold on because the currents were still pulling him, but he noticed something behind the grate. A switch. He pulled it and one of the currents stopped. He noticed it because Skol was floating in the area where there was no more current. He went back into the flow and began searching grates for more switches. Sone switches turned the flow of one current off and another on. It complicated things and forced him to think of which did what. After a few minutes, he managed to solve the puzzle. Though it took more trial and error than he had hoped. Much like the last room, this one began to glow. Now what...?

July 2 - Parterre Way (Route 4), Kalos

What the hell was that thing? Monty had a passing familiarity with the most popular pokémon, but he'd never seen anything like the masked green feline whom Azumi sent out. All he had to go off of was the blonde woman's mention of its dark typing, but that was all he needed.

"You're up, Oracle." The Absol strode onto the field, sizing up her opponent as her Pressure flared. The green feline was polite enough to bow when she beheld Oracle's radiance, but it wouldn't be enough to bring any mercy. Her hackles rose and the phantom weight poured off of her in waves, and her red eyes set into a venomous glare that she fixed on Lily.

"Watch and learn, Abné," Monty told the Eevee on his shoulder as he felt his blood rise. The criminal's eyes went wide, surveying the entire field for all the information he could take in, and he was ready to give commands at a moment's notice.

"Ready?" Monty called out to Oracle and Azumi. "Oracle, Double Team!"

The Absol glowed with white light as her form began to shimmer and split into identical copies. A reliable start, especially against an opponent they didn't have all the information on.

Azumi

"This is going to be great, same plan of attack, Lily!"

The grass type watched Oracle multiply into various copies of herself. But the magician didn't stop there, she did the same, equaling the same amount of cloned as her opponent's.

"Prepare yourself for attack!" Azumi called out to Monty, but Meowscarada began to sharpen her nails by scratching them against each other, sending sparks flying out of them.

They arrived no longer than half an hour at Parterre Way, and almost back at Lumiose City. Before that though, Monty gave Azumi a challenge, a one-on-one fight. He saw Oracle prepared, and ready to fight, while Azumi's ace, Nana, wanted to go at it too.

Nico has seen Monty battle Esther before, but this time it was between him and Azumi! Nico had heard of the Pokémon Azumi was using, it was a Pokémon native to the Paldea region. It was a Meowscarada, and it looked really cool! He watched excitedly on how this battle was gonna turn out, and who would be able to win.

Gwen Tucker - 17th of June - Eterna City, Sinnoh
Gwen turned around, to see Naka and figured she and her pokemon could take a break. It wasn't like they could do too much training before it was time to take on the gym, "Morning! Just doing some last minute training since Cobalt learned peck and trying to help out Ozzy as well. Look! I figured out a way to help out at least a bit with Ozzy' vision as well!" she said and gestured at the small dragon type proudly, who had his bangs parted from the middle and kept in place with the help of colorful pins.

"Hope you're ready to battle today as well. Needed a good night's rest and all," Gwen then boasted with a stretch and gave Cobalt a scratch on his head, who happily received the affection.

"Are you going to be using Fluffy in the battle?" the young girl then asked, curious about Naka's plans on taking on the Eterna gym.

Nakano Saito

Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 17
Location: Eterna City Battlefield, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Ludwig the Ludicolo, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous, Silenus the Sceptile

Interactions: Ron Towers (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker, Ozzy the Deino, and Cobalt the Piplup (IDKWhatUserNameToDo)

Naka smiled as Gwen greeted her and told her what she had been doing the past night. She checked out Ozzy and laughed, aww'ing at how cute it was. "That's adorable. And heyyy, Cobalt's a model Pokemon now. Awesome." She half teased but meant the compliment as it actually looked like Cobalt wasn't being a menace.

"Yup, I'm ready. Oh, haha, Fluffy is more of a guard Pokemon than one used for prestige battles. Don't tell him this but-" She then quietly spoke, leaning forward. "But he's not experienced in battle just yet." She then returned to her regular voice and straightened up. "I'll be using my Infernape, Froslass, Aerodactyl, Zweilous- OH!" She spotted Ron on a bench nearby and waved towards him. She saw the smoothie and playfully glared at him. "You better give us those smoothies after our challenge!" She called out to him. "Anyway." She went back to Gwen. "And my Ludicolo and Sceptile. Oh, I need to show you two to my best friend."

Naka fished out an old PokeBall, looking at least over ten years old. She sent it out, the Sceptile emerging in a flash of light. The 6'3" (190 cm) Sceptile stretched and yawned, then looked around. He saw Gwen and waved. "Silenus, this is Gwen, and her Pokemon Cobalt and Ozzy. Gwen, Cobalt, Ozzy, this is Silenus." The Grass-Type's tail subtly wagged as he gazed at the adorable human child and her child Pokemon, cooing. "And Silenus." The Sceptile looked at her. She then whispered to Silenus, so Gwen couldn't hear Ron's name.

The Sceptile looked over at the human on the bench, tilting his head. He smelled Naka, then narrowed his eyes. He walked over to Ron, tilting his head and smelling him. He didn't have to get close, the Sceptile can smell Naka's scent all over this guy. What the hell were they doing last night?

Wait...

Everything on Sceptile's body drooped and then perked right back up again as he glared at Naka. Walking over, Naka laughed as Sceptile gestured wildly before crossing his arms and looking away, huffing. "What are you upset about? Upset you didn't get to see him first?" He nodded, then got near to her face, where he actually enunciated a word he heard someone say in their shared past.

"Hoe-"

"OOOkayyyyy!" Naka pushed on Sceptile's face, making him lean back and snort. She then pulled out her phone and looked at Ron. "So, phone numbers? Before I forget?" Naka giggled, her Sceptile rolling his eyes and staring at Ron to judge if this guy was of any good character or not.

Date: June 2
Location: Tangelo Island Pokemon Center, Orange Archipelago

Hah, if he wasn't so bothered his experience, Reggie would have laughed at her pout. But he didn't want her feeling bad about it either.

He was exceptionally surprised at having gotten information on the Aura Guardians, even all the way out here. He stood there, blinking a few times before grinning wide. Awesome! He didn't have to explain how it came about! And when she returned his promise, he grinned even wider. "Good, good." Aside from sounding like an evil villain plotting their next attack, he went to look for his wallet as he continued to speak.

"There are people now who can access and tap into these aura abilities with training, but because the training has been mostly lost to time, those who can do so either have to be really gifted and lucky in having their abilities manifest, or they may not know they have these abilities until way into adulthood. But around the same time as Aura Guardians, there were also those who have other abilities that have been passed down through the generations. In modern times now, Sabrina, a Psychic-Type Gym Leader from Kanto, an amazing psychic. Can talk without moving her lips, use a doll as her medium, maybe block attacks but I'm not too sure on that one, and float people and Pokemon. There are also just random schmucks where they are able to channel their ESP abilities and float PokeBalls around them. And there are even extremely strong humans who can match even quite strong Fighting-Types." He looked at her excitedly, a little gleam in his blue eyes. "But there are also those who have a more spiritual connection to the world around them. Others may call them Hex Maniacs, but that's what we call people - usually creepy emo girls - with an obsession of Ghost-Types. But no, there are some people who can see spirits. Either humans, Pokemon, or even see through a Ghost-Types invisibility and have a heightened sense to their presence. But many of these people are also empaths, and some of these people have some telekinetic abilities."

Finally finding his wallet in his backpack he had to set down, he then pulled out the family picture and showed it to her. There was a younger Reggie, with a taller man in a suit behind him - blond hair greying with hazel eyes. His mother in a purple blouse and grey skirt, with long black hair in a ponytail and blue eyes, stood beside them with her arm on Reggie's father's shoulders and a hand on Reggie's shoulder.

"These two are my parents. This was taken when I was ten. Around the time when my abilities started manifesting. It didn't really help that they were also cursed item hunters. They followed the distant Ed and Lorraine's footsteps - my great grandparents - in finding cursed objects to then take back home and hide them within a basement so that nobody else can be cursed and harmed by these dangerous items affected by malevolent energies. However, to make it a paying job, they would send some of these less dangerous items to a museum for exhibition. Just as long as nobody touches them, everything's fine. But the close proximity to just being near these things caused my abilities to not only manifest faster, but make them worse. I now can't shut it off, and it gives me horrific nightmares, the stress of sleeping giving me insomnia and narcoleptic-like symptoms when I stay up for too long. That person I saw through the window wasn't actually anyone alive, I just didn't want to scare you with the whole "I see dead people" thing." He chuckled sheepishly, taking back his photo after she was done looking at it.

"So... How about it? The... Admittedly cool, yet creepy origins." He asked, scratching the back of his head in some concern. "Oh, I can do this." He held out his wallet in his up-turned palm, his eyes focusing in on it. His eyes shined blue, and so did his wallet. It floated a bit up in the air, a big smile on his face. But once he did that, it dropped back into his hand. "A cool party trick, but I haven't done anything heavier and I suck at concentrating." He laughed.

His Munna had watched the rise and fall of his wallet, nothing on her body shining to indicate she was using any of her psychic energy.

Monty's eyes narrowed as the sparks flew off of Lily's claws. Was that a move? Some sort of buff, maybe? They'd better shut it down.

"<<Taunt>>, then take the fight to them!"

Oracle's back rounded and her fur stood on end as she let out a loud growl, then once the <<Taunt>>, finished her legs began to crackle with black sparks. Taunt would leave Lily full of openings, and Oracle was glad to exploit them with <<Sucker Punch>>.

Ron Towers

Ron looked down at his smoothie as Naka called out to him. He had to get them some? He didn't mind, but he didn't see why he should. Then again, was probably best to keep Naka in a good mood. He shrugged looked back up, only to see her Sceptile sniffing his way.

Ron looked a bit confused, sniffing his armpit and then looking back. "You lose something pal?"

Was it jealous? Whatever, it was silly to think your Pokemon had a say in who you mangle with, Ron didn't have that problem...

"Aw shit, Furia."

He knew she was going to make a big deal out of it. Ron sighed and pondered how to deal with the Typhlosion, before snapping back to reality when Naka requested his phone number.

"Sharing numbers? Wow that's too intimate isn't it?" He joked before taking out his old phone. "Uhhh... Just write yours down somewhere and I'll save it."

Azumi

"Time to attack then, Night Slash!"

Lily's claws extended with dark energy flowing off them. As she did so, Oracle's horn landed a hit on her shoulder. She took the attack, taking a step back and her clones vanishing, lucky shot. Lily stepped forward at the Absol that had struck her, swinging her right paw at her first and then her left.

"Keep it up!"

Lily swinged her claws at Oracle again, attempting to slash at her opponent.

As the Dark-Types clashed, Monty cursed himself for forgetting that they resisted each other. <<Sucker Punch>> was a good tool for closing the distance between Oracle and an opponent, but if it didn't hit hard she was left open to counters.

The Absol dropped down as Lily shrugged off the hit, but before Monty could bark out "<<Detect!>>" the Meowscarada set upon her. A <<Night Slash>> caught Oracle on the shoulder, knocking her a step back and dispersing her own doubles.

The queen of the battlefield brimmed with malice as her red eyes glowed blue, and she weaved around the rest of the slashes thanks to the precognitive power of <<Detect>>.

Monty followed Oracle's movements, waiting for his partner to give herself an opening, and when she found one by ducking under Lily's arm and stepping forward he called for another move. "<<Play Rough>>!"

Oracle's claws took on a pinkish glow as she POUNCED! forward. The trade of dark moves was a good test of each other's strength, but the Absol was eager to see how her opponent would react to the rest of her arsenal.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond landed back on ground level as Kricketune hopped off Wunder and moved beside Politoed as both Poekmon kept close to Desmond as the photographer had clearly been shaken up on this whole ordeal. This already had been something way above his comfort zone, but to then work enough guts to make a plan only for it to blow up in his face before he even chance to act it out had only compounded things.

Aldon of course seemed to be annoyed the plan went south, but kept a cool head on his shoulders as he thanked his Pokemon. As he waited for the others to group up to discuss a plan, Desmond in a moment of reflection glanced at his Pokemon with a touch of regret.

"S-sorry....I should've picked up it was burned. My plan could've gotten us hurt or w-worse...and it would've been for nothing anyway." Desmond muttered, he seemed to clutch the locket around his neck as he tried to settle himself off this bit of regret. However deserved it was or not, but he soon felt a presence on him as his eyes opened up and he saw Politoed and Kricketune hug as they seemed to keep good spirits and tried to motivate him a bit.

"Poli!"

"Krick!"

Desmond blinked, in a rare moment he had not spazzed out just from contact with a Pokemon, and he seemed to even have a slight smile. "T-thanks guys..."

His attention turned to the group as he wondered what plan would b in the air to deal with this Blastoise.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

Adrianne gave Reggie the platform to speak and explain his situation to him, whatever she expected to hear had been about the furthest thing from what was actually said; as much like Aura Guardians, it seemed Reggie also had some inhuman abilities passed down to him and his rather eccentric cursed hunting parents. Much like the psychics or hex maniacs, he seemed to be a sort of spiritual medium; someone able to see the dead which seemed to be whatever figure he had seen last night.

As he expanded his story Adrianne's eyes seemed to be wide open as she tried to process all that he shared with her. If there had been any doubt she was skeptical to the story, he erased it when he held out a wallet and much like his eyes suddenly shifting it seemed to turn blue and float before her gaze as her eyes widened even further practically out of their socket.

"O-oh w-wow..."

Adrianne was speechless, a rare thing for someone so jubilant and energetic as she, as she needed a minute to process all of this. Wow, she was traveling with a guy who could see ghosts, like not even Ghost Pokemon but other actual spirits, and had some cool but spooky abilities. Once she had some time to process it, she wrestled with those thoughts and slowly seemed to nod in some understanding before she faced Reggie.

"W-well I can say that ability is pretty cool. And hey, if I wanted to travel with someone for my first adventure, I am more than thankful it is someone contumely interesting like you. The whole insomnia thing sounds kinda a raw deal, but hey maybe we'll find a ghost or something to heal that." Adrianne said, as she seemed to accept this side of him as hey, how many people could claim their first adventure had been with a ghost medium?

Azumi Towers- Santalune, Kalos - July 2nd.

"Quick Attack!".

Lily's body gained a white glow. She moved away from Oracle just in time to avoid the super effective attack. Lily giggled as she landed in the flower field around them, picking up several flowers and joining them into a small bouquet.

"Hold on to those for now, Lily." Azumi called out, "Let's test our strength once more, Nigh Slash again!"

The Meowscarada enlarged the claws on one hand with dark energy, while holding the flowers in the other. She called out a challenge to Oracle and rushed towards her. She ducted down, her claws sending sparks as they scratched against the ground, ready to rise up and strike.

First the Double Team, and now dodging with a flash-stepping move? This strange-looking two-legged cat was using Oracle's own tricks against her, and she was not happy about it. Her Pressure flared as her contempt grew, and her red eyes narrowed in annoyance at Lily's challenge.

So, she wanted a head on clash? Oracle would give her one. <<Night Slash>> was her territory, and she wouldn't be outdone by a copycat's attempt. The Absol's limbs crackled with black sparks as she SHOT! forward, and as the <<Sucker Punch>> carried her to her target she dispersed the move and channeled dark energy into her scythe.

Now midair and face-to-face with Lily, Oracle WRENCHED! her scythe in a sweeping arc to catch the Meowscarada in the neck with <<Night Slash>>.

Monty watched the battle unfold, confident to let Oracle handle herself but wary of the flowers in Lily's hand. Why would Azumi call for her to hold on to them? He'd never seen a move that required them, but if the blonde Kalosian was half as experienced as she let on it was likely her bag of tricks was deeper than he could imagine.

The criminal watched carefully, ready to call for <<Detect>> if Oracle needed it.

Azumi Towers-

Oracle's speed was impressive, making Lily fall on her back as the Absol's Night Slash connected. The feline Pokemon smirked and jumped back on to her feet, deciding to give the cocky Pokemon a taste of her own medicine.

Using Quick Attack, she was face to face with Oracle again. Lily swung her extended claws at Oracle, not once, but twice. After she jumped back to get space between the two, holding up both her paws to show they were empty. She giggled and raised her right arm while placing her left paw on her hips.

"Not yet Lily!" Azumi's eyes were focused on Oracle, watching for her next movement. "Be patient."

Did he miss something? The flowers were in Lily's hand one moment, but were gone the next. Monty would've figured she dropped them, but the Meowscarada's point to show her empty paws and Azumi's call for patience made the criminal second guess himself.

"Stay focused, Oracle!" Their opponents had something up their sleeves, and Monty didn't want Oracle's bloodlust to reach such a height that she wouldn't be ready for it.

Too bad for him.

Oracle hissed as she reeled from Lily's <<Quick Attack>>, rolling backward before unsteadily regaining her footing. This pokémon was entirely different from the opponent's she'd faced until now. The fight against Esther's despicable drake was the first time since the Houndoom battle that Oracle been unsure of her victory, her only opponents who proved more than another peon to crush, but Lily was on an entirely different level.

Even the gym leader, whom useless Monty hyped up to be her strongest opponent yet, was but a shadow cast by this masked feline.

Finally, she had another challenge. Oracle would crush her, would make her beg, would decimate the masked cat. The Absol brimmed with dark energy and she locked eyes with Lily, her gaze unmistakably malicious; <<Leer>>.

"<<Play Rough>> again!" Monty went with their best option. Though Lily was quick to dodge, Oracle only had close-up attacks. His partner wouldn't be able to take many more attacks, so ending things quickly was the best bet to win.

Yes! Kneel, grovel, beg! Oracle showed no mercy as she tackled Lily with <<Play Rough>>, yet the masked feline's look wasn't one of defeat. Did she not know who she was dealing with?! Oracle would tea—

Lights out.

The phantom spotlight caught Monty completely off guard, and his shout for "Detect!" came too late. The criminal cursed as Lily's <<Flower Trick>> connected with the back of Oracle's neck, and without so much as a cry the Absol slumped to the ground.

Damn! It was over. It was already over, and Azumi was playing with them the whole time! Not once was Oracle able to seize an advantage, catch Lily off guard, or even do much damage to her. With gritted teeth Monty drew Oracle's Luxury Ball and returned her to the capsule with a red flash.

What could they have done differently? Could he have found another opening? Were they even strong enough to capitalize on one?

Monty looked across the clearing to Azumi. One of her teammates, who didn't hold any sort of innate advantage against Oracle like a favorable type match up, was strong enough to wipe the floor with them. The strength to challenge a gym leader at their strongest...did she really get this strong without focusing on training?

She was amazing.

"You're a lot stronger than you let on," Monty called as he crossed the clearing to Azumi. The criminal begrudingly stuck a hand out, blushing a little at having to admit his loss. "Toutes nos félicitations."

Azumi Tower-

Azumi blushed a bit at the compliments. "Oh, thank you!"

She reached into her bag and brought out a Revive. "Here, Oracle could use this. I feel weird seeing you without her."

She shook Monty's hand, "Well it was just a practice match. I do hope one day we can both reach our full potential and have a fun battle."

"Shall we go? Nico looks a bit bored and Esther... Well I can't see her anymore."

She looked at Lily and tossed a Sitrus Berry at her. "Sucker Punch and Play Rough? Right? Great moves!"

Monty held the revive between two fingers, studying it with some confusion. What the hell was he supposed to do with this? He'd seen them in the Poké Mart, but he steered clear of the substantial price tag. This chick really was rich, just giving one away.

"Merci. You...crush these and the pokémon...smells it, right?" Monty asked as he released Oracle from her Luxury Ball. The Absol was still out cold, the steady rise and fall of her chest the only indication that she was still counted among the living. The criminal didn't think he would ever get used to the sight, but he crouched down beside her nonetheless.

The revive was surprisingly brittle, and when Monty held the fine powder under Oracle's nose her red eyes SNAPPED! open.

The Absol staggered to her feet, eyes wild and fur ruffled, and she whipped her head back and forth in search of her opponent. What happened? Why was Monty standing right next to the blonde woman? Was the battle over?

Was she defeated?!

Oracle's gaze slowly shifted from Lily, to Azumi, then finally to useless Monty. How could he let this happen?! Surely if he was more attentive, he would have seen whatever back-handed tactic the Meowscarada blind-sided her with! Useless...useless...useless! If he spent less time oggling the opposing trainer, she would have won!

"What are you glaring at me for?!" Monty's expression soured as Oracle set her silent fury upon him, complete with whatever Pressure she could muster, but both of them turned to Azumi at the mention of the Absol's moves.

Monty rose to his feet as he answered, "Yeah, that's right. Sucker Punch is Oracle's favorite opener. Pretty common for an Absol from what I found online. Play Rough was a bit of a surprise when she first used it, though. But what about that flower move Lily used? I've never seen anything like it."

Azumi Towers-.

"Oh Oracle looks better, Sitrus Berry?" She offered the berry to Oracle, but not taking any risks getting closer to her. "You mean Flower Trick? Lily's signature move. It always hits the target in a critical spot and never misses thanks to her magic. That's what I know about it. When there's no flowers, Lily just makes them. She's my favorite magician."

The grass Pokemon bowed to her audience and made a bouquet of flowers appear again. She offered it to Monty with a joyful chirp.

"Well Mister Montagne, seems you made a new friend." Azumi said with a smile.

Nana on the other hand rolled her eyes. She could've probably one shot Oracle. But now Lily was even giving their enemy flowers? Pathetic.

A berry offered by the enemy? Absolutely not. Oracle turned her nose up at Azumi's offering, huffed, and began cleaning her ruffled fur. If the woman wasn't going to shower her with the same praise as earlier, she had no interest in her. The very notion that she would take a hand out from an opponent was laughable, almost enough to make her laugh in disbelief.

Oracle went to give Monty an 'are you seeing this?' look, but her eyes went wide with shock as he accepted a bouquet of phantom flowers from Lily. WHAT was he doing?!

"
Merci..." The criminal accepted Lily's bouquet warily, unsure of what to make of the Meowscarada's magic flowers. "So she's a magician? If you ask me everything pokémon do is like—" Did he hear a crackling? "—magic."

SLASH!

A flash of black sparks SHOT! by, and the bouquet of flowers Monty was holding was reduced to a bouquet of stems. Oracle stood on the other side of him with her Sucker Punch's aura dissipating, and she fixed him with a furious glare.

"What are you, jealous?!" Monty leaned down and got in Oracle's face, but she didn't back down. Trainer and partner glared at the other, but Monty broke the standoff first.

With an exasperated groan he stood up and surveyed the road ahead. Parterre wasn't too long a route, nowhere near the length of Menhir to the southwest, but Azumi was right. Esther was nowhere to be seen. "We'd better catch up." The criminal voiced his decision, and shot Oracle another look. It wouldn't do them any good for her to be throwing fits while they were still grouped up.

Azumi Towers-

"Oh well, I guess I got on Oracle's black book." Azumi sighed a bit, scolding herself for failing to make a friend as she put the Sitrus Berry away. "Oh a black book is supposed to be a list of enemies people have. They're usually used by criminals, though I've never seen one as evidence. They probably burn it before getting caught, maybe?" She waved her hand and tried to laugh off the situation. "Sorry, probably a boring subject for you."

The road to Lumiose was ahead of them. Azumi returned her upset feline to her PokeBall and even considered putting Nana away, but her Gardevoir seemed a bit amused at Oracle's tantrum, which lightened her mood.

"Although, if I were a criminal... I wouldn't call my list black book or black list, would you? Sounds too obvious, maybe disguise it as a red book or cooking book. Personally, I would choose a book with fantasy stories."

"I'd call it 'Monty's Shit List'. Maybe disguise it as a phone book, no one reads those things, anyway." Monty played off the black book comments jokingly, but they put him on edge. It wasn't unreasonable for a cop-in-training like Azumi to be thinking about that kind of thing, but still...was she messing with him? Was that Gardevoir of hers feeding her his thoughts this whole time?

Was the battle with Lily just a show of strength before Azumi revelaed she was on to him? The thought brought a chill to his spine. Oracle barely stood a chance, and even though he could definitely take the woman in a fight her pokémon would fold him like wet cardboard.

Wait, was the Gardevoir reading his thoughts right now? Shit, what should he think about? Happy thoughts...happy thoughts...where were his happy thoughts? Fuck it, maybe keeping her thoughts off of him would be better.

"So why does a fantasy-story-reading, Battle Chateau training girl like Ms. Azumi Towers decide to become a cop?"

Azumi's smiled faded. That one question she had been asked before and she always tried to hide away from it. She had given different answers to it in the past. Yet, she never remembered which versions she told and to who, since they were just lies. So, as much as she disliked dishonesty, she needed to give Monty one of her most used reasons.

"I always looked up to cops. I think they do amazing work and do their best to keep our dear world in order. I would love to be part of that. Justice for all, protect the weak. It's... Fulfilling."

She smiled again, satisfied with her answer. She was truly having a good time, she understood why trainers traveled in groups all over the world. But that meant she couldn't focus fully on her goal, maybe in another lifetime.

"Any plans for the next gym? I believe you need a strong ground type Pokemon to take one the leader. "

Much like the last room, no new door opened. A trail of glowing aura across the ground lead a path path to the previous room. As Aldon followed it, the path continued and turned down the hall. It ended at the center of the hall where the T, on the wall opposing side of the entrance hall. Both sides of the hall were lit up. As he approached the entrance, Skol floated over too it, bumping into the wall.

thump

The sound of Skol's head hitting the wall. After looking at the wall, Aldon noticed some cracks in the wall. These weren't cracks from old age or damage, but smooth intentional lines that formed a doorway. Aldon pushed it and it began to slowly began to reveal a hidden room. Pitch black darkness was all Sldon could see. He had Wunder help him push it. Eventually the large stone they were pushing sank, then the room lit up. A staircase was on the far end of the room. On the walls were many carvings of people all facing north. Just behind the staircase was a carving of a man significantly taller than the others and wearing a crown. Arms outstretched. A sword in one hand and a necklace in the other. A large powerful sea creature of some sorts was carved by his side. Gemstones dotted the eyes of every carving as well as the pommel of the sword and the end of the necklace.

Small lights dimly lit up small portions of the way down. Wunder was the first to head down the stairs. As he made his way down the stairs he noticed the stairs led to a hallway which split into three directions. He turned left, then left again and continued straight for a while and eventually found himself at a dead end. He had passed at least three other side passages before reaching the dead end. Was this a maze?! Aldon could only wonder how long it would take to get out of it.

Her stunned reaction was all he needed. Adrianne believed him, and Reggie was immensely proud of himself.

Not only that, but she only seemed to take it with stride! She didn't hate him or think he was weird or lying. She even complimented him! This was a joyous occasion, completely allowing him to forget the horrible thing he saw earlier that morning. "Ohhh, thank you!" He bowed jubilantly, then paused. He straightened up and chuckled, putting his wallet away. "Y'see, Ghost-Types actually make my insomnia and nightmares worse. So having them around me while I'm sleeping actually is a bad idea." He chuckled sheepishly.

Then he remembered the deal they had.

"OH, before I forget." He then stood there, eyes sparkling with intrigue. "Your secret. You promiiiised." He teased, but it was more so with excitement bubbling up that he couldn't suppress.

"I guess that's as good a reason as any. What'da they call it? Altruism." Monty was never the 'protect the weak' type. If anything, he found the mindset naive. Only a kid could believe in something like that, or a really spoiled adult. Then again, it was Azumi. With the way she flung around expensive items like they were trinkets, she probably was a spoiled adult.

"But I think I'll pass on the Lumiose Gym." Monty's orders were only to secure one badge, so challenging the rest of the gyms wasn't high on his list of priorities. "Oracle and I might try our hand their someday, but for now we're focused on the tournament in Shabboneau. Right?"

He looked down at his partner expectantly, but she ignored him. In fact, the Absol ignored the entire group. She kept her eyes shut and her nose turned away as she padded along next to her trainer, a silent protest against their continued companionship with the blonde woman and her outrageously strong pokémon.

"Alright, sulk then." Still perched on Monty's shoulder, Abnégarde stuck her tongue out at Oracle before nuzzling the side of her trainer's neck. It felt...surprisingly natural for the criminal to reach up and reward the Eevee's affection with some scratches under her chin. Where along the way did he stop hating having pokémon around?

"Oh that's right."

Azumi looked at Monty and Oracle. It was always fun to see new trainers bonding with their Pokemon, even if they weren't agreeing at the moment. Lucky for them, Lumiose was up ahead, which meant Azumi could give Monty some time with his Absol.

"So, Mister Montagne, since you're not challenging the gym, what do you plan to do in the city today?"

Gwen Tucker - 17th of June - Eterna City, Sinnoh
Gwen couldn't help but wonder a bit if Fluff wasn't really a battling pokemon, what would it be like battling Naka using her pokemon that were for battle? Fluff already beat Cobalt, but if Gwen wanted any hope of putting up a good fight, she really had to train for it. Shoving those thoughts for later, the young trainer recognized that Naka was planning on using tons of pokemon that would be good against grass, or had a typing that would hit it with super effective moves.

She then tilted her head to the side in curiosity as the older trainer dug around for something before she pulled out some very old looking pokeballs. Gwen gasped in surprise when out popped a Sceptile! Another pokemon that tended to be a starter pokemon for trainers, oh Naka was so cool! "Hi Silenius!" the young trainer said, already pumped up to see Naka fight Gardenia and to also have her first gym battle. Cobalt looked up at the Forest pokemon and puffed up his own chest to try and gain some respect from the much older grass type.
For what happened next though had Gwen all but confused. What was going on? Why did that Sceptile say something like that? Could he speak?! Did something happen with Naka and Mr. Punk? The blue haired girl decided not to meddle in whatever that business was and was amply distracted by Ozzy, who seemed all too eager to play some more. She crouched down to pet the small irate pokemon as she eyed still at the direction of the two older trainers and the Sceptile.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

Adrianne of course seemed to find his great relief to be a rather cute reaction, if nothing else his reactions seemed to help brighten the mood even in this more serious subject matter and she had not been the type who'd say no to someone who could make one smile even if it had not been fully by design.

Course, his comment on Ghost Types caused her to feel a shiver of guilt as she rubbed the back of her head. "O-oh is thar right? Uh sorry I had no idea...." Adrianne mused a bit, before he seemed to shift back to a secret on her side. She had after all agreed to share something on her side and given how personal his admission was she needed to give him something big and sadly there seemed to be only one thing in her background that had fit that bill.

"A-all right, I did make a promise." Adrianne said, as she took a deep breath before she had began to explain her little "secret."

"It's not too much of a big secret, least to people who know me on these islands, but when I told you why I wanted to be a Champion and have my own League someday, why I wanted to be a strong trainer...the reasons I had given had not been fully truthful. Not that i lied to you about it or anything, there is just an added motivating factor..." Adrianne began to say, more so setting the stage for it before she took another deep breath and continued on. "See, my father was once a Trainer. A pretty good one too, he traveled the world and competed in various events in other regions. Think he even did the Junior Cup when he was young. However, he aimed to make his mark when he competed in the Orange League here. Managing to defeat almost all the Orange Crew and even getting a chance to take on our land's champion Drake." Adrianne explained, as so far this sounded like something cool much as anything.

Though it had been here where Adrianne's tone seemed to take a bit of a dip.

"However, on the day of the match, my father no showed. No explanation, no excuse no reasoning...he just didn't come. Naturally the match was cancelled and of course it brought some shame with him, as nobody who had earned the privilege to take on Drake had ever ducked a battle with him. My father got called a coward for it, and I had to live with that shame all my life, and no matter how much I begged him to tell me he never gave a reason why he skipped. People at school used to love teasing me over it, leading to a fight or two as I...didn't handle it so well. Probably also factoed to why I don't have many friends back home." Adrianne mused, as she seemed to look down and her gaze seemed to become focused as if these memories seemed to trigger something.

"I...I won't let the Silvers name be defined as some cowardly legacy. So that's why I want to be as strong as I can be, to show everyone what my name means to me and erase that shameful memory." Adrianne explained with a bit of fire to her stomach as she balled her hand into a fist.

"Hang out, mostly. I'll need to get Oracle to a Pokémon Center...y'know it really is a shame she's ignoring me, because I might schedule a grooming appointment for her after all her hard work the past couple of days—"

That got her attention, and the Absol glanced at her trainer in annoyance. He'd better take her to that lovely place. It had been far too long since she'd been properly pampered.

"—But other than that, I don't have anything in mind. Knowing her, Esther's getting herself into some kind of trouble, but I think I'll take things a little easy today. The calm before the storm when we head to Camphrier for the doubles tournament." Monty paused for a moment, and he remembered the point of the tournament in the first place.

An Old Guard job, and they were walking right back into the Old Guard's main territory. He'd have to be careful about where he went with Azumi— no telling who would spot them and give the Boss a call. The last thing he needed was Cormier looking into who his traveling companion was.

"And you? Got more homework on the agenda, or are you free for the day?" Monty would be a touch disappointed if Azumi planned to skip out on he and Nico like she did yesterday in Santalune. He could get used to having a beautiful woman like her around.

Azumi Towers-

"Oh, I know the perfect place for Oracle!" Azumi eyes gleamed with joy, "I take my Pokemon there. They do an amazing job. I think she deserves nothing less." She took out her wallet and pulled out a card, "I can make an appointment if you want. I bet Lily and Oracle could bond after a battle and spa day."

The question about homework got Azumi quiet for a second. "I do have to meet with someone, but it's not a current urgent matter, so it can wait." She felt Nana's gaze on her, an angry gaze. "I know you're a local, but there's some cafe shops that I can recommend or museums. In case you're interested. Oh and some great shopping locations, I can also recommend a street or two."

Nico has been following Azumi and Monty's battle, which ended up with Azumi beating Monty in a quick battle. That was pretty cool, although Oracle didn't think so. Anyway, It was time for them to catch up to Esther and get back to Lumiose City. Anyway, he'd been hearing from Monty and Esther about the Double Battle tournament happening in Camphrier.

Nico was kinda debating if he should join or not, but with a little bit of quick thinking, he could probably not lose on the first round? Plus, it would be great practice on battling, and to try out Pepper or Brocolli's fighting capabilities. He didn't want to use Cherry, since she was a bit like Monty's Eevee. She didn't like to fight, and was much more useful in a kitchen setting.

Ron's shrug had Naka confused. Was he going to after their match? Hopefully.

Silenus really liked Gwen. She was just too cute. But Ron? He couldn't trust him. At least, not yet. He waved at Gwen when she greeted him, and even patted Cobalt's head and chuckled in a raspy, lizard sort of way, complimenting Cobalt's gutsy pride.

But Ron asking if he lost something had him deadpanning. He did take interest in the name Furia though. Another Pokemon? Given his expression, both Naka and Silenus realized that one of his Pokemon may not be okay with Naka and Ron having their fling. But Naka wasn't really too concerned over it.

Ron's joke had her laughing, shaking her head as she sat down right beside him, resting against her backpack against the bench's back. "Nah, too slow." She then leaned over and whispered in his ear enough for not even Silenus can hear.

"I'm on birth control, so don't worry about last night." She then patted his knee and pulled out her phone. Then she remembered that Rotom Phone. "Yo, Gwen. The Rotom Phone." She called. "Did you get any closer?" She held out her hand towards Ron, giving him a look with a slightly downturned head and fluttering eyelashes. "Please, your phone? I'll only fill out my stuff, I promise." Then, a silly pursing of her lips that looked like she was both pouting and wanting a kiss.

Adrianne's apology had Reggie just throwing his hand at her nonchalantly and shaking his head. "Nah, it's fine."

But now, it was the moment of truth. He waited there oh-so patiently, it was as if a Lillipup had used Baby-Doll Eyes. It mellowed out though as she spoke of her secret, his expression looking like he was a sponge. And then he tilted his head in confusion as she explained her father was blamed as a coward. Something didn't seem right.

Pursing his lips, arm hugging around his chest and his other arm using it to prop itself up so he can put his index finger and thumb on and around his chin. Even as she ended, he was still in this kinda silly position. He then hummed. "If he's such a well accomplished trainer, I doubt it's because he was a coward if he didn't show. Like... That just sounds like propaganda and politics to make Drake look better by using your father's reputation at his expense. Also would be good for business, but that's from an outsider speaking. Either way," He then patted her on the shoulder, smiling. "Glad I was right earlier about some kind of revenge plot. I think you'll do really well, whether you're adventuring with me or not. I can just feel it. And just because your father has this shame doesn't mean you have to shoulder it. If people think you should, they're stupid. But I can see why you want to clear the Silvers' name from that. Very commendable." Even his Munna cooed in delight.

He seemed to have calmed down from his earlier eccentric antics, probably because he was starting to run on energy that was petering out and because he was taking this information seriously. "I think something happened to your father that prevented him from showing up. That's my take on it." He shrugged. "I know nobody else has ducked out of a fight with Drake, but if Drake is still the champion, it could possibly be that they didn't want anyone beating him and they were afraid your dad was strong enough to do so. Or, with a far less league corruption story, someone didn't want him to get in that position for their own reasons. These things don't happen too often, but with my parents being in business, I hear stories of similar things happening all the time. People can be very greedy and selfish, especially when there's money and reputation involved. Food for thought. Aaaaand." He twirled about and stopped, pointing to the door with both fingers out of Pokemon Center housing section.

"We need to make food for our bellies before they become Ursaring and eat us from the inside out, come on." He walked out of the bunking room in that same comical march from yesterday, and then out of the Pokemon Center so they may find someplace to eat or make their own food, all in all listening out for whatever Adrianne had to say about what he mentioned.

Ron Towers

Ron started chocking as Naka mentioned she was on the pill. He coughed and spit out part of his smoothie.

"Why would you mention that?" He was clearly confused, until his mind clicked. "Wait, you think I was gonna bail?" Well he was thinking about it, but not for the same reasons! "Naka, relax. I'm just very cautious with my contact info." He leaned back on the bench and kept drinking from his beverage. "Besides, we can talk about that later. We're on the clock and Gwen needs to be ready for her gym battle."

He stood up and offered her his cup. "You should be doing the same."

Ron began walking towards Gwen, hands in his pockets as he approached the young trainer. "Yo, Gwen. Ready? Get some last minute stretches, we got a gym badge to win. Training to the last minute is bad luck."

Oracle was torn between her commitment to shunning the humans and the enticement of what the blonde woman called a 'spa day'. If it was anything like the usual groomer that useless Monty took her too, it sounded like a phenomenal time. Her expression softened as she imagined a warm bath, a massaging scrub, a marvelous brushing, and a treat to top it all off.

"You like that sound of that?" Monty asked his partner, picking up on the anticipation written all over the Absol's face. "If you want to book it, I'll give you the money for Oracle's sess— OUCH!" As soon as the criminal turned back to Azumi, he felt a rows of sharp little teeth close down on his ear.

Abnégarde was not happy about being left out of the spa day, and her trainer grabbed her by the scruff and held her in front of him to scold. The silver Eevee bore a fiesty face as he barked, "Quit it with the biting or you're going back in your ball!" Abné was steadfast against Monty's rebuking, though, and she simply YIPPED! indignantly. If Oracle was going to get special treatment, she deserved it, too!

Monty folded his arms with his sassy Eevee tucked between them and his chest and huffed. "Better make appointments for the both of them."

The Lumiosite mulled over Azumi's suggestions. He could definitely eat by the time they got to the city, but a museum? They always struck him as tourist traps. "We'll see where the day takes us, check those out while the pokémon are enjoying themselves. The great thing about Lumiose is there's always some new café or shop to check out. I've got some money to spend, anyway."

Now that he was thinking about it, Monty would definitely need to buy some new clothes. He doubted he'd be able to shake Azumi, Nico, and Esther if she rejoined them that day long enough to get to the brothel to do laundry. Good thing Cormier was paying him for beating the gym.

Azumi's earlier mention of her feline pokémon and the spa got his gears turning, and Monty asked another question. "By the way, what is Lily? She's a magician, yeah, and a dark type, but I've never seen a pokémon like her before."

Azumi Towers-

"Well I can book it for of them, don't worry about that." Azumi's phone popped out and floated in front of her, opening the website to the shop she had mentioned. "Lily? Oh she's a Meowscarada. I obtained her in the Paldea Region. Have you been there? Lovely place, very peaceful. I was an exchange student and ran into her, the most adorable Pokemon I had seen. We became friends quickly, she and Nana really hit if off so, she joined our team."

Azumi filled out the information on the app while talking. She turned to ask Nana, but the Gardevoir rolled her eyes and looked away. Instead she filled out a different name after Lily's.

"Here we go. We can drop off our Pokemon at their spa and then go do something else, unless you prefer to stay? Nico, what do you think?"

Briar stood outside the streets of Kalos looking around aimlessly. She had chosen now to visit Galar for a little while. She had left her cozy home in Galar for maybe a few weeks or months. Briar wasn't sure how long she wanted to stay in Kalos. A nice lil vacation away from the stress of home. Maybe battle a few people. Grab a few drinks. put down a drink or two. She was pretty sober now and didn't wanna immediately get hammered. She had been sober for almost five days now and she arguably wanted to try make it a week sober. That was her goal. Maybe one week will turn into two weeks.

Maybe she'd start walking down the street and actually battle someone instead of think about bullshit thoughts to herself. She wasn't planning on staying in Kalos forever. Eventually she was gonna go back to Galar. She still had her home in Spikesmuth to take care of. Luckily for her, her neighbor was a surprisingly nice lady who was willing to take care of her home while she was away. In the meantime she'd keep walking. Although visiting the clothing store did cross her mind. Though the clothes were probably way too expensive. and not her style. No. She'd focus on looking for trainers to battle.
