Defog? Nakano was rather well-prepared. Gardenia nodded her approval but as soon as she saw Aerodactyl begin to glow, she knew it was time to strike. “Now Roserade time to disappear, «Dazzling Gleam» into «Weather Ball»!”

Roserade raised its bouquets and the battlefield filled with bright prismatic light that shot towards Aerodactyl. The damage was secondary to the fact that it hid Roserade from view ad allowed it to disappear into the sandstorm; if Gardenia’s guess was correct, Aerodactyl was charging Sky Attack. That wasn't a move it could cancel and without a target, it might leave it open to a follow-up from Weather Ball. The quick one-two might be enough to actually end the ancient raptor prematurely.

With a series of trilling whistles that sounded like Starly, Aero took heed of his trainer's coded commands and twirled to head towards Gardenia's side with his eyes closed, the light still singing his lower body and feet and making him wince but the sand had compacted around him to shield him and buff his Special Defense slightly to take it better. He flew around Gardenia's side of the field, sand condensing around him to create «Stealth Rocks» as they then hovered around the area and turned invisible.

The Weather Ball was now Rock, so if it lost its Flying-Typing, it wouldn't do a lot of damage. Aero immediately landed in the middle of the field, his shoulder being hit by the Weather Ball as he landed, but his body had already lost its Flying-Typing as he began glowing green to heal from «Roost».

He then breathed in deeply, the insides of his mouth holding a slight glow.

Gardenia was almost amused by the reversed hazards. Regardless, Naka had apparently gone for Roost. The Gym Leader’s threat hadn’t been vocalized but either way...Naka should’ve listened. Neither Naka nor her Aerodactyl had a good visual on Roserade through the sandstorm and now that Aerodactyl had landed...Roserade burst through the sandstorm and moved to mount Aerodactyl’s back.

The Rose Pokemon had been fairly close to Aerodactyl as Naka had directed it to fly over Gardenia's field (and Roserade) before it landed in the middle of the field.

“Hold on tight and pummel it!”

«Grass Knots» emerged from Roserade’s arms as it tried to tie itself down to Aerodactyl’s back and hinder its wings. If it succeeded, it would be in prime position to repeatedly nail Aerodactyl with super effective moves of its choice. With its flying type returning Aerodactyl would take serious damage from a «Weather Ball» and if it tried to Roost again it Roserade could punish it with «Energy Ball».

Nakano would really have to think fast, Roserade was a potent attacker and Aerodactyl wouldn’t last. Long beneath its onslaught.

Naka actually wanted to see what the Roserade was willing to do. She had noticed Gardenia smirk over there when she was setting up Grassy Terrain, so she wondered just how badly it could have been. She must have had an answer to fliers, and Roserade being her ace had wanted her to see what was going on.

Of course, being Flying-less also meant Grass was super-effective. This wasn't lost on Naka, but upon seeing the Roserade pounce on the Aerodactyl and cover it with vines to restrict had actually caused his Roar to fail.

With three sharp whistles, Aero roared as his wings shone with sky blue energy. While he wasn't built for special attacks, it didn't matter, he needed those off. The Grass Knots hurt like hell, but he wasn't going to let this Roserade ride him. He managed to flap once, creating sharp winds with «Air Cutter» to cut the vines attached to his wings, then flapped a few more times to create a tornado around him that had Air Cutter bouncing from one windy wall to the next. Was this reckless? Yes, he was most certainly going to hurt himself. But with the added Sandstorm and his Rock-Typing, it didn't hurt as bad.

If the Roserade was still on him after all that, his teeth was going to shine with a super-effective attack and bite at her, the temperature in the tornado suddenly dropping.

While Aerodactyl had been cutting himself free Roserade had ample time to launch its first weather ball and while it had been launching more air cutters to create its tornado, Roserade was able to create a second weather ball. The bouncing air cutters had made it difficult for Roserade to stay steady, but at this point it didn't need to cling on so tightly.

“Finish it Roserade!”

Roserade flattened, using Aerodactyl’s large body and wings as cover to protect itself from the bouncing air cutters. It wasn’t perfect and quickly got it tossed off Aerodactyl's back, but it was better than nothing. The continued chip from sandstorm and the earlier U-Turn had taken their toll and these bouncing air cutters brought Roserade dangerously close to faint. But if she was going down, she’d take Aerodactyl with her. As the uppity old amber craned and bared its fangs, the first thing in its sight would be the gentle green glow of «Energy Ball» and Roserade’s smug smirk.

Hmph, it was to be expected. The two Weather Balls had hurt too much and in his last ditch attempt, he tried to use «Ice Fang» on Roserade, only to see a bright glowing ball of green energy in his face. It landed, sending him careening to the ground from his short hovering.

Knocked out. First Pokemon down, but Naka still had two Pokemon on Gardenia.

Smiling despite having lost one of her Pokemon, she tossed the next one out on the field. "I was wondering when that was going to happen. Still a humbler of Flying-Type users I see." She teased and complimented, the next Pokemon being sent out was her Ludicolo, who was grateful to see there were no Stealth Rocks on his side of the field, but was irritated with the sand.

That's when the Ludicolo saw the excellence that was the Roserade before him. Those pretty roses can raid his heart any day, that cape was so long it had to be a female.

"Alright, Ludwig, use-huh?"

Completely unprompted, Ludwig immediately winked and danced with a romantic merengue solo, as «Attract» hearts floated around to get that Roserade, while his body also seemed to become doubled from his use of «Teeter Dance», his own movements looking unsteady in its use.

The return of Naka’s Ludicolo wasn’t unexpected. What had been unexpected was its sudden usage of attract. Just what kind of strategy was Nakano running? Annoy her opponent to death with RNG? Gardenia ground her teeth as her Roserade swooned towards and made heart-eyes at Ludicolo, rendering it completely unable to evade the following teeter dance.

The Gym leader rolled her eyes, Roserade was on the verge anyway, might as well risk it all—“«Sludge Bomb»!”

Against all odds Roserade managed to heed its trainer and as Ludicolo finished its dance it would be treated to a barrage of toxic sludge.

Ezio Farello - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh

"Oh, you flatter me." Ezio smiled before vines wrapped around his Steelix, causing the Iron Snake Pokémon to roar out as it tried to break its binds. "Sandstorm!" The man called out as Excavate spun around, tearing the vines and creating a sand tornado. "Keep your eyes covered, the sand is abrasive!" Ezio said, warning Kaden as he covered his own eyes with his hat as Excavate glared down at the Roserade, not bothered by the sand.

"Come on, Excavate! Gyro Ball!" The spikes on the Steelix' segmented body glowed light blue and began to spin, creating a light blue ring around Steelix before it roared and dove at the Roserade.

Nicole Newman - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar

"I have, spent hours sitting on the side of Reversal Mountain watching Tranquil, Skarmory and Altaria pass overhead." Nicole said, looking in the sky. "It was relaxing, and gave me a feeling of weightlessness. That feeling continued when I started flying with Cassidy, and it is a wonderful feeling, having such a connection with such an impressive Pokémon. I can recommend it to everyone, flying with a Pokémon." The Bird Keeper said, a smile on her face as she watched the clouds pass by.

Ron, Should focus on the battle and not on those buns, Towers.

Ron darted his eyes between Naka and the battle. He wouldn't admit it, but he was glad she was having a good time, considering the nervous wreck she was earlier. Things were beginning to turn in her favor and Ron had just finished his food, when the Sandstorm started.

He quickly took his sunglasses and put them on Gwen, just in case some sand came their way. He wasn't a stranger when it came to the move and knew how badly it stinnged to get that dirt into your eyes.

"Damn it!" He slapped his knee as the Aerodactyl went down, he was hoping it would take out one or two with it. "At least she still has that Infernape."

Kaden shielded his eyes from the sandstorm, sighing for himself that he was probably going to be finding sand in his clothes for a good while after this now, but that was something to worry about later, "Thanks for the heads up," the coordinator replied. Trying to go through the moves that Dendro knew through his mind. That Gyro ball that Ezio called out looked dangerously powerful though.

"Dodge into Petal Blizzard!" Kaden ordered as Dendro did his best to dodge the giant Iron Snake pokemon. With agile leaps the Roserade tried to get away without being plowed by Excavate completely, but tumbled to the side by the impact. Dendro was in no good shape at all. The Sandstorm nicked away at the Bouquet pokemon as he put a foot back and his arms into a t-pose and started to spin with one foot pointed 90-degrees angle and spun around with a flurry of pink petals whirling around as Dendro spur on more momentum to his spin with the help of the move. Dendro could sense that this was the finale of the battle so why not put some extra flair to it by doing his usual 'big show-off' move in contests.

Lara Brook - 16th of June - North Lake Miloch, Wild Area, Galar

Lara listened to Nicole, looking up at the sky with her hand resting on her camera. To the photographer it sounded like a peaceful dream. To just sit back and see the world around her, "I can imagine.." Lara replied, imagining the scenario Nicole painted in her mind, but quickly stopped daydreaming when the bird keeper described flying. She herself was not a fan of heights and the last time she flew it was to escape a Dynamaxed and enraged Hydreigon. It'll be a good while until she would be down to try it again..

"I see.." she said before sinking back into daydreaming. Oh, if she could dedicate more time to photographing.

Gwen Tucker - 17th of June - Eterna Gym, Eterna City, Sinnoh

The Cradily went down and right after Gardenia's Breloom as well. Naka was in quite a good position, already taken down two of Gardenia's pokemon and having all of her pokemon still be healthy. The weather in the Gym changed soon once more into Sandstorm. Gwen looked up at Ron who had put sunglasses on her and nodded at the punk, "Thanks," before resuming to watch the fight as well as shield her own two pokemon from the sand as well.

Gardenia took out her ace, Roserade and managed to take down Naka's Aerodactyl, evening the score, but this battle was going to be fierce. Gwen observed how many status inflicting and nullifying moves Naka had at her disposal. She herself always thought of them as boring moves, but they were clearly quite handy to have as the battler demonstrated.

Naka deadpanned as Ludwig tried to be a rizzler and score something with Gardenia's Roserade. "Ludwig, finish her!"

Ludwig was just impressed that the beauty of roses herself could even look so elegant swooning for him like that. He almost felt bad for using Attract. But the Sludge Bomb happened, and he didn't want to bother her anymore. Breathing in, he exhaled a beam of ice towards the Roserade, but also getting hit by the Sludge Bomb. Naka just hoped that the «Ice Beam» took her out.

He was starting to look ill, but Naka wasn't so sure if that was the poisoning taking effect or if that was from how powerful the move was.

Roses do have their thorns.

Roserade went down to ice beam and Gardenia returned her. The gym leader appeared to be in quite the pickle. Ludicolo with ice beam, Froslass and Infernape were still around, and who knew what Nakano’s last 2 pokémon were. Was it time? Her hand hovered over the last pokéball on her waist but ultimately, she abstained.

“It’s your turn Tropius!”

The tropical pokémon appeared in the skies above the battlefield and immediately took damage from stealth rock, it looked as if it might fall from the sky but its banana-leaf wings stabilized it. Gardenia knew things could get dicey here, so she poured on the pressure.

“Let’s take it out! «Dragon Dance» into «Seed Bomb»!”

As the Tropius was sent out, Ludwig had actually pulled out a Mago Berry from his fur and began eating it, restoring his health. Since he didn't dislike the taste, he didn't get confused either. He felt a bit better after eating that.

So when Tropius used Dragon Dance, Ludwig grinned. He skipped over while the Tropius danced, and with a dark hand in one hand and temperature dropping from around his bill, he jumped up to smack via «Knock Off» whatever item Tropius was holding to follow up with an «Ice Beam».

However, the Seed Bomb did hit after he pulled off his attacks, and it sent him hurtling to the ground. Because of the Mago Berry healing, he just managed to struggle up and survive that, but it was very obvious he couldn't take anymore hits like that.

The gym leader intended to bait out another Teeter Dance but now that wouldn’t work. Nevertheless, Tropius had managed to get off Dragon Dance and Seed Bomb. The speed boost from dragon dance allowed it to veer in the air as ice-beam clipped its wing but didn’t put the Tropius down. Still, the quad-effective attack had dealt damage. Even a second graze was sure to finish it.

Gardenia pushed forward, “Once more Tropius, «Seed Bomb»!”

Tropius circled and rained a second bombardment of seed bombs toward Ludicolo.

He said, as Excavate lowered his head and took the hit. Whilst it certainly did damage the Steelix, he did not faint and glared at the Roserade as if it insulted his mother. "Alright, Earthquake!" Ezio ordered as Excavate slammed his tail on the ground, causing shockwaves to spread across the ground.

Nicole didn't know what Lara thought about, as she assumed that the photographer knew that she meant flying from the perspective from a falconeer. A valiant effort in Ludicolo attempting to do another Ice Beam failed as the Seed Bombs made their mark, and he was finally defeated. That Lum Berry cured confusion, which meant it likely had a move like Outrage that causes confusion once used. Still, she wanted to show off one of her Pokemon, who was very close to evolving.

Next, Naka sent out Orochi. She was starting to come off her buzz, and there were just... So many people. But she was so far in this fight, she couldn't let her anxieties get her down now. Her posture wasn't as loose as it was before, but focused and tense. She still had that smirk like she was excited for this fight and still having fun, but it bordered on a grimace.

This fight was likely televised...

Oh, fuck...

Clearing her head, she shouted her commands, her tone a lot serious this time. She was sure the Tropius was faster, and the Zoom Lens attached to the more alert head was going to give him higher accuracy if he moved last. "Nasty Pulse!" The Zweilous's heads, unusually silent for his species with one head being a lot more alert than the other lolling head as if the other one was taking more of its brain power, did two attacks in one go. While one did «Nasty Plot», the other breathed in deeply. Once their shared body glowed with dark energy, the other head let out a powerful «Dark Pulse», the pulsating darkness energy larger due to the Nasty Plot beforehand. It echoed with violent, dark thoughts reminiscent of a Dark-Type's aura.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

"Well that's a relief." Adrianne said as she listened to this girl, Briar Hightower as she introduced herself later, who seemed to be an interesting character in her own right. Friendly, a bit of a charming personality but one that had some unique quirks let's say. Though Adrianne seemed to find it endearing as her Pokemon seemed to get a sense of the varied party Briar had.

Ace the Spearow seemed to lock eyes with the Grafaia, who proceeded to mimic a beak as she placed it over her mouth as if this monkey tried to become a bird, which caused Ace to raise an eyebrow. Aqua in turn peaked from behind Adrianne's leg to catch this and on reflex giggled a bit as she found it cute. Ace glanced back as an audible "Azu!" came out and she hid behind Adrianne's leg again. Though it peaked a bit as Briar seemed to compliment Adrianne's current party which caused her to smile.

"Thanks! Just began my journey the day prior so I hope to build a fun, strong team and...OMG what is that cutie!?" Adrianne said with hears in eyes as something that resembled a Quagsire but was quite distinct as it dug in the sand and poked its head out cutely. She needed to know more of this, as well as the other Pokemon Briar had as she pulled her Pokedex to take some scans.

"Grafaiai, the Toxic Monkey Pokemon. Each Grafaiai paints its own individual pattern, and it will paint that same pattern over and over again throughout its life."

"Clodsire, the Spiny Fish Pokemon. It lives at the bottom of ponds and swamps. It will carry Wooper on its back and ferry them across water from one shore to the other."

"So cool..." Adrianne said with a smile as she wondered if the Tentecruel was a wild one or if it also belonged to Briar's party. Though before she had a chance to ask to confirm Briar seemed to affirm how the two seemed to come off as childhood friends even given they had known each other for a day which caused Adrianne to beam a bit with pride.

"Aw thanks~! I like to believe we'll become good buddies in no time so glad to hear we seem on the right path." Adrianne said as she had taken that as a good endorsement before she was asked what kind of Pokemon she wanted as she rubbed her chin in thought.

"Honestly I try to avoid being picky. I am new to all this so anything I can catch that can learn Surf would be a welcomed partner on this quest, though I do think catching a Staryu, Slowpoke or a Spheal if out there would be fun." Adrianne admitted always having had a fascination with those lines as she had looked up which Pokemon knew Surf and tried to keep open options.

When Briar made mention of Reggie needing sleep and seemed to have a bit of flair about it Adrianne had an awkward chuckle as she knew this had not been such an easy idea for Reggie to put into practice, something she hoped they could find an answer for on this journey.

Tropius collapsed as it was hit with the Dark Pulse. It had done what it could and importantly, revealed Naka’s fifth pokémon. Gardenia returned Tropius and threw out a dark type of her own—Cacturne! It was a rather talented grass type she’d gotten from a blue-haired man in a funny suit. It had proven a skilled battler and eventually made its way onto her personal team.

The stealth rock immediately dealt Cacturne a blow but it soldiered on.

“Let’s go Cacturne, «Sandstorm»!”

The sandstorm kicked up and was strengthened by Cacturne’s smooth rock. With its Sand Viel ability, Cacturne wouldn’t take damage from the sand and was even able to blend into the sand making it harder to hit with subsequent moves.

Just two more Pokemon left...!

Adrenaline was spiking in Naka's system. If she wasn't high earlier, she was now. After taking out the Tropius, it was now Cacturne. Hmm... This would prove troublesome, especially since she's done this before with Froslass and Hail.

But Zoom Lens should be able to see him better, especially if he made a move. "Weather the storm, Orochi. And focus." She said calmly, her eyes staring into the sandy void where she was able to see hints of the Cacturne here or there, but nothing concrete. The Zweilous's heads bowed, his body strengthening as he flexed and relaxed his muscles in quick succession to pull off a «Work Up». Passing the time for when the Cacturne were to come in and attack. Thankfully, he was able to hear super well since he barely saw anything as is, even with his hair parted.

Once he heard something, the more alert head looked around, using the Zoom Lens to lock onto Cacturne's position. If he found Cacturne making an attack, he would either go for «Hyper Voice» if the Cacturne was far away, or the other head will go with «Ice Fang» if the Cacturne got too close, one attack cancelling out the other as it required only one direction for its energy to travel to and no more.

Gardenia hid a smirk as Naka postponed an immediate attack. She had been concerned the Zoom lens would off-set sand veil and she knew Nakano’s Zweilous had Hustle at its ability, hence the need for Zoom lens in the first place. Unfortunately, an immediate attack had not been what Gardenia planned for instead—“Now Cacturne! «Switcheroo»!”

With blinding speed Cacturne switched its held item with Zweilous, leaving the dragon without its coveted Zoom Lens and instead holding a useless Smooth Rock. Now its follow-up attack would need to contend with Cacturne’s increased evasion and its own decreased accuracy!

Now Gardenia was more comfortable attacking, “Knock it down Cacturne!”

The desert cactus pokémon wove in and out of the sandstorm, attempting to confuse the lens-less Zweilous before he nailed it with Drain Punch.

Ah... That figures. All that set up, and Zweilous was now even more blind, forced to use his hearing that sight. Then again, wasn't that what a Zweilous were supposed to use anyway? Closing his eyes, he accepted the Smooth Rock and waited. The Drain Punch came, and the one lolling head snapped like an springing Arbok, an «Ice Fang» coming out to bite the Cacturne's arm as it connected with the other head, sending it spiraling around as his body nearly tipped over from the force. Yet, it did not make a sound, likely a learned trait from before Naka got it as a Deino.

Naka was chewing the inside of her cheek, wondering if she should have them go for it now or try another Nasty Plot. Deciding on waiting, she made her command. "«Nasty Plot»!" The head that got hit began glowing, before his body began to glow to increase his Special Attack even further.

So, waiting it out was the wrong idea. Naka forgot just how strong Cacturne were, and Zweilous - before he had a chance to send out a Draco Meteor - was flung by the second Drain Punch.

But she did remember this thing was the least bit not tanky at all.

"I'd like that Zoom Lens back when we're done." Naka teased with a grin, even amidst her Pokemon fainting. As if it didn't even matter. She returned her Zweilous, and sent out someone Gardenia had seen. Froslass.

"Yuki." With a nod, the Froslass raised her hands to get rid of Sandstorm and recreate «Hail». Her Bright Powder was within her sash. Now it was Gardenia’s turn to play it reactive. While Froslass seemed like a threat, Gardenia was confident that Cacturne would end it quickly with Sucker Punch, however, that needed Froslass to attack first. Since that was the case... she would position herself in the meantime.

“Build your advantage Cacturne!”

The hail died away as Cacturne returned the field to sandstorm conditions. Cactune moved carefully, to prevent Naka from taking advantage of one of its moves to suddenly act.

Once Froslass moved to attack...it would nail it. But if not, it could carefully take the opportunity provided to lay down a layer of «Spikes».

Yuki scowled. Ugh, she hated this.

"Don't worry about Hail." Yuki heeded her trainer's words and sighed, the Sandstorm stinging. Naka had the sneaking suspicion this thing was going to use Sucker Punch. It was just waiting it out, not attacking. She grinned. "Will-O-Ray."

Yuki would like to do that if it wasn't difficult to see him. She did manage to send out haunting blue flames and dancing lights to hopefully confuse with «Confuse Ray» or burn with «Will-O-Wisp», having the lights descend from above and the flames dart this way and that in key locations to hopefully trip up the Cacturne and allow it to get hit by one of them at least. If it got confused, then it would be easier, and if he got burned, Yuki should be able to survive a Sucker Punch if she attacked.

Man, why couldn't Froslass learn Hypnosis?

Gardenia scowled as Naka returned to her confusion and status plays. Fortunately, Cacturne’s Sand Veil allowed it to evade the worst of it—the Will-o-wisp. Still the confusion had managed to land and add more variance to the battle.

“Keep focused Cacturne, you just need one clean hit!”

Cacturne stumbled amidst the sand but managed to set down its first layer of spikes. Briefly, Gardenia considered swapping for Froslass’ bright powered, but giving Froslass the Zoom lens would probably make it more accurate even with the interference from bright powered.

Nakano seemed the type to roll the dice on Will-o-wisp a few more times before she was satisfied, so Gardenia took the initiative.

“Use «Seed Bomb» and watch for its counterattack!”

She still held out for a swift end to this with Sucker punch, but if Cacturne ended up burned she hoped to dish out enough damage to defeat it with Sucker Punch anyway or defeat it outright before it could chip Cacturne down. Gardenia did suspect a certain strategy from her opponent though, so she kept a watchful eye on Froslass. How much more damage could it take?

Naka heard that. And so did the now relieved Froslass.

Right as the Cacturne used Seed Bomb, Naka yelled. "Take him down with it!"

This Froslass had some pretty frail defenses, which was why she needed Hail and Snow Cloak. Specifically, physical defense. With her previous damage from Brine and Sludge Bomb earlier, she was within range. She zoomed over right in front of Cacturne as he made his Seed Bomb attack, ensuring that it will hit as she attempted to tie her fate to him. Her eyes glowed purple, wanting to take Cacturne down with her as the Seed Bomb was enough to knock her out.

As both Cacturne and Froslass went down Gardenia breathed a sigh of relief. Now she just had Infernape and Nakano’s mystery 6th pokémon. This was doable.

“You’ve done well to push me this far challenger, but did you think you had me cornered? I’ll show you why grass types are the world’s best pokémon! Go Venusaur!”

As Gardenia’s final pokémon took the field, stealth rocks activated and pierced its leathery hide. However, not even that could distract from the glowing gem that had been nestled in the petals of its flower.

A similar gem appeared in Gardenia’s hand, and she brandished it—“Let’s cut down to business! Grass power, full force. Venusaur—MEGA EVOLVE!”

The gym rumbled with the force of Venusaur’s roar and untold power bubbled out of its mega-stone infusing every chlorophyll-filled cell with the power to go beyond evolution. Its flower blossomed and bloomed while its body increased in size. In a matter of moments, what stood on the field was on Venusaur, but a mega Venusaur.

“Bring it on challenger!”

Naka smiled as she returned her Pokemon, sending out her Infernape who got to witness the Venusaur mega evolve in all its glory. Well, after Infernape got stuck with Spikes. Naka stared in shock, eyes wide. She felt absolutely giddy. She couldn't hear the crowd anymore. It was just her, and this battle. She felt the confidence come back to her without the alcohol this time. Like all the Pokemon before this one, it was just a mountain to climb over. A mountain to over.

She had two Pokemon. One with some damage incurred from the earlier Brine, and one who hadn't even set foot on the battlefield.

This was going to be fun~.

"Get in close!" Naka cheered, Hanu's head flame rising in strength and heat as he let out a roar and charged in a blur. Using «Mach Punch», he flew in close, only to then go for the flower with an «Aerial Ace», his jab going from a yellowish orange to a light sky blue.

This thing was bulky, so they needed all the chip damage Hanu can give before Silenus can come out.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline

Esther's dancing and singing didn't exactly help in this scenario, what it meant to her is that she wasn't taking this seriously as she should have been. Imagine if it was one of her babies stuck out there, completely helpless. Still... there was a bit of credence to her plan... so reluctantly (yet hastily), Eveline threw out Conquest.

"Conquest. Revengeance. On leg. Feeding time."

Conquest loved hearing those words, it meant that nothing would stop them from going buck wild. With almost reckless abandon, Conquest zoomed off towards the Blastoise, gnashing her teeth on the way there. Conquest's teeth would glow a variety of colors, purple, black, pink, and a light blue. Upon reaching the Blastoise, Conquest would jet in the water at max speed, slamming into the Blastoise's right leg at 75 mph, then latching on and biting at them mercilessly, the light show that was their mouth going wild as they released a flurry of biting moves. Ice Fang, Poison Fang, Psychic Fangs and Crunch in rapid succession, all of their energy being exerted at once. If this didn't make that Blastoise topple over, well, nothing would. As Conquest's onslaught continued on, Revengeance, still on the left leg, would muster what energy they had left, sending out three more Fury Cutters before going limp on Blastoise's leg, dangling as their blade was stuck in them.

Infernape’s return was expected and Gardenia smirked, she was ready for it. Venusaur was strong and its Thick Fat meant fire-type moves wouldn’t hurt it as badly. It also came prepared with earth power, something that could put Infernape down quickly, with the earlier chip damage from stealth rocks and the new damage from spikes, Gardenia was confident an earth power or two would finish it off.

Gardenia went for it, Venusaur could take an aerial ace.

“«Grassy terrain» into «Earth Power»!”

The battlefield bloomed with life as the terrain took effect, it would provide Venusaur with passive healing to keep it in the game. Then the earth began to tremble, with Infernape going for its flower it would have to take to the air. Venusaur aimed to catch it with an earth power beneath its landing point.

This was going to be really annoying. Once Grassy Terrain was up, she knew Infernape couldn't land anywhere on the ground. It was Venusaur's turf now. So staying on it was the only better solution, but the flower can just shower itself with poison or whatever move it had like a volcano. Dual-wielding two different moves - one in each hand - Hanu went to slam the Mega Venusaur's back with a «Power-Up Punch» followed up with an «Aerial Ace» jab, hoping to get it down in range for Silenus's specifically tailored moveset. He definitely wasn't going to go down on the ground where that Earth Power awaited.

Naka's hand immediately went to Silenus's ball, holding the dingy, beaten up PokeBall to her lips to kiss it before putting it back on her belt.

“Alright! Keep it up Magneton!” Exclaimed Laura as she witnessed her onslaught of attacks land one after the other, causing her pokemon to respond with a cheerful set of beeps. This battle has been going rather well in the girl’s favor so far. “This is going way better than I anticipated, if this keeps up we’ll be able to win our first badge.” The girl began thinking to herself. Unfortunately, this momentary distraction took her attention away from the fiery white orb that had just been launched at her Magneton. Unlike her trainer, the Magnet Pokemon did notice the incoming attack, its eyes widening as the orb rapidly approached it.

Noticing the attack too late, Laura’s eyes followed the orb as it nailed her pokemon directly in the center of the three heads, causing the Steel Electric type to fall out of the air and crash down to earth. “Wait no! Magneton!” Laura cried out. “Damn I shouldn’t have gotten distracted, this is such a dumb mistake.” The girl mumbled to herself. “There’s no way Magneton could have lived that, Oddish had so many boosts and the sun on top of it.” She added, believing that she lost her first pokemon.

However, from the small crater created by the crash, the Steel type pokemon rose again, it wasn’t out yet. This sight came as a massive surprise, Laura was sure that she had lost Magneton. Then, a crucial detail came to the girl’s head. “Sturdy! How could I forget!” She said out loud. “Alright we’re not done yet! Sorry about that Magneton, it won’t happen again.” She declared. Laura quickly eyed the battlefield, Oddish had been greatly weakened by the numerous attacks it had sustained but Magneton was now also in bad shape, holding on by a thread thanks to its ability. “Let’s finish this! Hit them with another Magnet Bomb!” Pulling itself up and now hovering just above the ground, Magneton’s eyes locked on to the Oddish as it formed another metallic blue orb in front of it, taking aim at the Grass type.

She actually bought the handcuffs?! Maybe sheltered girls were freakier than he thought.

Nico's return was unexpected, and it didn't bode well in the criminal's mind. The foreigner was gone for what, almost a couple of hours without finding Esther? Where exactly did his tourney partner run off to? At least he brought some food with him.

"Oh, merci," Monty thanked Nico, taking the tupperware-contained sandwich. "We just ate, but I'll snack on it in a little while." He tucked the container into his own bag and looked down the avenue, trying to figure out where they should go next. Lumiose was any shopper's dream, but he visited the rows and rows of storefronts fairly infrequently.

Might as well start walking. Monty glanced to Nico as he put boots cobblestone, and asked, "Joining us for some shopping?"

Even without being told Venusaur switched tactics once it realized Infernape intended to stay on its flower. It was able to get off a «Growth» which boosted its own offenses and then its flower EXPLODED with toxic gunk, which would treat Infernape to a face-full of «Sludge Bomb». It would be forced to leap off its flower and risk an earth power as it landed or eat the sludge bomb, which might be enough to take it down there and then.

(OOC: sorry y'all been busy this will be a VERY short post(also a very bad post lol))

Hana was watching the battle intently. Hana had never been a battle like this, and it was hard to look away from it all.

Hertz nodded handing the pichu the can of soda grinning! Hertz was a rather sweet noibat and enjoyed getting to hang out with friends because yes. He did consider this random pichu he just met his friend.

(OOC: Said it would be VERY short and very bad ._.)

Azumi Towers- Lumiose, Kalos - July 2nd.

"Oh, I know the perfect store! It has some formal and fancy clothes but also handles a very nice casual selection. I really need to find a new outfit if I'm to continue traveling." Azumi took out her Rotom Phone XL Infinite edition and opened up the map. "It's in the next Avenue over, we can take a shortcut through these streets and before I forget, Oracle you look stunning! Great choice."

Azumi put her phone away and called her Pokemon over. She lead the group through the small streets in Lumiose, fighting the temptation to buy some snacks or accessories, she could go through these shops all day! But she rather go to their destination first and then worry about the other smaller ones. Finally, they reached Estival Avenue.

"It's right over there, Glamour et plus, I love shopping there." Azumi was already thinking about what she should buy for her trip and then it hit her. "Oh, I almost forgot, I feel silly asking this now but..." She cleared her throat, "If you two are planning on traveling throughout the region, may I tag along? I want to see what else is out there before..." The thought of her future job made her sigh, "I have to start working."

These Power-Up Punches were extremely weak, Naka knew that. And the Venusaur seemed to change up that strategy. It has used Growth, then a Sludge Bomb. She made a sharp, high whistle, to which Hanu back flipped off at the nick of time. He landed on the Grassy Terrain, feeling it rejuvenate him.

He shot in for an «Aerial Ace» in the face, then jumped away and looked out for the ground where Earth Power was going to erupt from.

Naka was tasting blood in her mouth from how badly she was chewing her cheek, but that was okay. They were so close, and Hanu was doing a good job so far, but that thing was so bulky... She hoped her moveset with her Sceptile would be enough.

“Keep it at a distance Venusaur, retreat and use «Earth Power.”

Given Venusaur’s relative bulk, Gardenia knew that as long as she could keep Infernape at a distance Venusaur could both heal from its earlier damage and exhaust their opponent. The repeated hits of aerial ace had done a number of Venusaur and they still had another pokémon left to deal with.

Venusaur growled and tried to catch Infernape with earth power as it leaped backward; then the toxic frog retreated behind the craters that had been created by its own earth power and Cradily’s. By putting a literal ditch between them, it was making it more difficult for Infernape to close the distance once more. If it tried to soar over the ditch...well, it would be open to attack.

July 2 - Lumiose City, Kalos

Every step through the side streets took them closer to Estival Avenue; Old Guard territory. A creeping anxiety began worming its way into Monty, and he kept a sharp eye out for any other beaux voyous out and about. It wasn't an issue for him to be seen with Nico or Esther, but Azumi was another matter entirely.

Cormier was the careful type. Not quite paranoid, but he didn't leave loose ends or unturned stones. If someone spotted them and relayed their descriptions to the Boss, there wasn't a doubt in Monty's mind that he'd run some sort of background check on whoever was with him. What would he say if he found out Monty was rolling with a future cop?

If Oracle picked up on her trainer's anxiety, she didn't show it. She left his side to walk next to Azumi, Lily, and Nana, smugly flaunting her new golden adornment. The Meowscarada may have won their battle, but her bracelet was far superior to the strange set of ears Lily wore. What, did the set she already had not work?!

When they finally reached Glamour et Plus, Monty breathed a sigh of relief. They'd get off the street, and away from prying eyes, and as Azumi brought up the topic of seeing— "Your company's welcome to me, mademoiselle. I've learned I've got plenty to see, myself."

Plenty to see was right, and not just of the region. Azumi was his ticket into the Battle Chateau, where gym leaders clashed at their full strength, and she was more than just a strong trainer, herself. The way her blonde hair caught the summer sunlight, and those blue eyes of hers...Monty had to admit, he'd hate to see her go.

"And when do you start? Not too soon, I hope."
