Risk it? Esther eyed her Bounsweet. After gust and signal beam Maçiera’s body had been marred by a few bruises. Could she also take a Sonic Boom? No, even if she could, she wouldn’t be able to close in on Yanma fast enough afterward. The Oblivian pouted, she should’ve spent a bit more time preparing but now—“Play Rough!

Hearing the call for her favorite move, the scowl on Maçiera’s face twisted into a grin. The sparkle of fairy-type energy engulfed her body as she collided head-on with the Sonic Boom. Maçiera went sliding back from the force of the collision and Esther watched the battlefield thoughtfully. What was the path to victory? Yanma had longer range and better mobility, she’d need to close the distance—but how? More speed with rapid spin? Boxing Yanma in with Magical Leaf? Both were viable, but they’d take time, time that they didn’t have.

Esther sighed and then perked up with a crisp clap. She cupped her hands over her mouth, projecting her voice over the battlefield. “I think that’s enough for now, I’d say it’s your win—congrats!”

A moment of congratulatory applause later, Esther's hands cupped to her ears.

“Do you hear that? There’s no noise from the other room; I think the gym leader’s done with his battle!”

“Çiera, Synthesis! We’ve got one more battle on our hands!”

"Again! Soni- Oh?" Adam had begun to oder when Esther called in defeat, a wide smile quickly spreading across his face... He had done it! He won his first battle! Adam couldn't help but be proud of himself, though would flash Esther a thumbs up. It was a good battle.

"They are? Good luck!" He,d call out. Returning Yanma and making his way outside the gym, hopefully, to heal up in a pokemon centre

Gwen Tucker - 20th of June - Snowbound Lodge Route 216, Sinnoh
Gwen woke up to the sound of the alarm she set. Rubbing her eyes to get the sleep off of them she sat up, stretching before getting up and redying herself for this new day. She actually had no idea if Ron or Naka were awake yet, but she'd start to get herself ready. Getting a new set of clothes for the day, brushing her hair and so on, the young trainer got ready for the day.

Looked like she accidentally left a pocket open as she heard some rustling from behind her. Zipping up her jacket and turning around she saw her Swinub munching on a bag of peanuts she had in her bag as a snack, "Ah- my peanuts!" Gwen exclaimed, the noise making Cobalt pop out of his pokeball in response. Cobalt squawked and tried to scold the ice-type pokemon.

"Hey, hey hey it's alright Cobalt. It's just a small bag. I've got more," Gwen said, but in the middle of the Pig pokemon's munching, she perked up at the mention of more snacks and went to sniff into the bag.

"No- not anymore for you," the blue haired girl said, trying to lift the chubby pig pokemon with a huff, "I've still got to come of with a nickname for you.." she said, closing her backpack more properly now and picking up the half eaten back of peanuts, "Actually.. How does Peanut sound?" Gwen said and looked down at her Swinub who immediately perked up. The young girl smirked, "Looks like I'll be calling you Peanut then," she said and crouched down to pet the ice type who playfully headbutted Gwen back. Cobalt crossed his flippers and shook his head with a sigh.

Ozzy was still snoozing away in his pokeball or then just didn't want to come out due to the cold, but Gwen didn't want to bother him. Just as she was done with packing, did the young blue haired girl hear Naka call out that they were leaving, "Yeah coming!" the young trainer yelled back, throwing her hefty backpack on again, returned Peanut and was about to do the same for Cobalt.

"Pip," he stated firmly, apparently wanting to follow the group on his own outside his pokeball. Well, Gwen saw no harm in it so she allowed it, "You wanna be outside? I mean alright," she said, knowing that her Piplup could follow their pace quite well despite his small stature.

Making one last check that she didn't leave anything in her room, Gwen and Cobalt made their way over to the lobby to meet up with Naka and Ron, but she only saw the former, "Morning Naka! Where's Ron?"

Gwen Tucker - July 18th - National Park, Johto
Gwen grimaced pained at the Misdreavus' pained howling. She sounded so human and it honestly made the young girl quite uncomfortable. Then, the Hex Maniac made a critical error. She used a Psychic type attack on a Dark type.

"Ozzy, Bite one last time!" Gwen yelled, pointing at the Screech pokemon. Her Deino opened up its jaw wide after being completely unphased by the ghost pokemon's previous attack. Dark energy gathered at his teeth as embers still clung on to his black fur, chipping away at the Dark-type. Ozzy leaped forward at the cornered Misdreavus and bit down as hard as he could.

"Ozzy is a Dark type indeed," Gwen stated as she looked at her opponent, "Making you reconsider picking a battle with me?" she then asked, her annoyed and sour mood still firmly there, but at least she had somewhat of an outlet in this battle.

Desmond had a pretty solid counter duo as one sliced through his attack, and the other gracefully leaping over the other attack. Aldon would take this opportunity to continue to press the offense.

"Okay, cool! Use a confusion this time, Bolly!" Aldon called out. After the mud slap was sliced in half, a wave of psychic energy was fired at kricketune. With Politoad closing the gap, Aldon had the perfect opportunity to use a reliable close range attack.

"Go for another zen headbutt, Skolioliol!" Aldon childishly called Skol in nickname form. Skol lunged, staying low to the ground until arcing upward in a hooking motion.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond knew he was fighting more on impulse than anything, this was what about his second or third proper battle he had to recent memory. Not like he had that much battle experience.

"Crap avoid it Kricketune!" Desmond called out as the Bug type tried to get the dirt out of the eye and glide back, but the mud shot had stalled it a moment long enough that the Confusion landed and suddenly the Bug type wobbled about as figurative birds seemed to circle it. This was not good!

Desmond couldn't exactly command Politoed to avoid it now, and Aldon curved the Zen Headbutt so this collusion was bound to be uncomfortable. Politoed's body slammed tight on that chrome of the Psychic type as it coughed out in pain from the blow. "Toad!" Still, its body aimed to complete the Body Slam and least tried to plant Slowpoke onto the ground over it.

Admittedly, Aldon wasn't sure what the best course of action to do, but since kricketune was in defense, Aldon could press the offense. Though this time, he'd aim to use a more precision strike.

"Psybeam, buddy!" Aldon called out. As Skol was pressed against the ground, a small toot sound could Sheppard, which made Skol's grin widen a little. With Politoad this close, now was the perfect opportunity to do try something again.

"Use yawn!" Aldon called out now. Skol leaned his head back, his maw was wide open, ready to point blank splash Politoad with a miasma of sleepy gas.

Briar listened to Reggie explain possible moves for Adrianne's mon to learn, which seemed like a solid idea. She nodded, looking over to Adrianne. Briar thought for a moment on what Reggie could be talking about.

"no clue what gym or island you're referring to" Briar said shrugging. She chuckled when Reggie mentioned rituals. She thought of her own habit.

"I know i have a ritual or two, eheheheheheheh!" Briar said thinking about her booze. After a day like today, she could use a beer, but wanted to stay sober another day. Or at least a few more hours. She'd aI'm to be sober a few more days, but situations change. Luckily they hadn't changed yet. She glanced back at Reggie as he asked about her pokémon knowing surf.

"Depends If Maggie is in the mood to help again, but sure, sugar. She did carry us back to shore after all" Briar said holding Maggue's pokéball. Briar turned and now shrugged at Adrianne.

"Dunno, hun. Splashing is just rippling water. Even you or I can do that. Sounds fairly normal, i guess. Eh-heheh!" Briar mused. She didn't have any flying pokémon. Driving while under the influence was a bad idea, but flying while intoxicated?! Briar never needed a flying type anyways seeing how useful trains and corviknight taxi were. Well at least when she was still in galar anyways. Baba wanted to paint on Aster's eye, but she had priorities. Ergo, she turned and placed her bandaid from behind her ear, peeling the paper off, and placing it on Frida's booboo where she landed her takedown attack.

Esther waved goodbye as Adam left to heal his Pokémon. He’d only been hit by a magical leaf, right? Wasn’t that a bit too much coddling? Whatever, it wasn’t her business. Esther walked away from the battle content and happy; despite its short length, the battle had allowed her to test herself and her pokémon against a disadvantageous situation. The results could’ve been better, but in the uninspiring openness of a battlefield like the gym’s, the Oblivian felt limited in her ability to exercise creativity.

Of course, if she were stumped by something as trivial as that then she wouldn’t make for an outstanding coordinator—now, would she? In matters of battle and beauty both a Coordinator transmogrified the mundane, captured wonderment, shocked the sensibilities, and bedazzled the masses! Robert had some excellent advice!

Now if only her pokémon were as optimistic!

“Aww, c’mon don’t make that face~” Esther stooped down to cradle Çiera’s face in her hands. Her thumbs pressed at the Bounsweet’s cheeks. “Turn that frown upside down! We’ve got a gym battle to win!”

When Esther removed her hands, thankfully, Çiera had gone back to only scowling. Better than nothing! Alright, next stop Gym leader Chu—"Do they let just anyone into this gym? With Pokémon like that, you’re better off in a beauty pageant or something. Stop wasting the gym leader’s time.”

Esther whirled around with fire in her eyes. “Hah?

Wilford Pine
Turffield Stadium Lobby -> Street to Pokémon Center, Galar Region
August 2nd
WCS Rank: 70,203

"I can see why you're so desperate to leave this place now," Wilford rolled his eyes in recollection as followed Cole out of the Turffield Stadium lobby, listening to his description of his gym battle. The rich young man found himself smiling at hearing that he inspired Cole to take a leap of faith, even at the cost of proper preparation. He was comfortable with the silence as the two continued on their way, unbothered by Cole's reservations about his negative reputation. However, he was inspired to break the silence upon hearing Cole's question.

"Y'know something funny? You managed to ask a much better question than those hack interviewers on your first go. I'm impressed," Wilford complimented Cole before taking a deep breath, knowing that his answer was going to be lengthy, "There are many things that go into making a good Pokémon. I'll go over typing first since that was the first thing you mentioned. Out of the 18 Pokémon types, there's only 12 that are worth training: Fire, Water, Steel, Fairy, Fighting, Ground, Flying, Electric, Grass, Ghost, Dark, and Dragon. Defensively, Water, Steel, and Fairy are the standouts, each of them having few weaknesses and a bevy of useful resistances and immunities. The offensive standout types, Fire, Fighting, Flying, Electric, Ghost, and Dark excel at hitting a wide array of types for neutral or super effective damage, including the aforementioned defensive types. Ground, Grass, and Dragon are special cases as far as types go. Ground types excel both offensively and defensively due to hitting Steel types super effectively (being one of three types too do so) while being the only type to be immune to Electric types. Grass types, despite their numerous weaknesses, have unique key strengths. Aside from their access to moves like Leech Seed and Sleep Powder, Grass types have relatively rare resistances with Electric, Water and Ground while hitting the latter two for super effective damage. Dragon hits nearly everything for neutral damage except for itself, Steel, and Fairy, which are super effective, resistant, and immune respectively. The real thing that makes Dragon types useful is the next thing that goes into a Pokémon: their stats. A beneficial typing is useless if not supported by the right stats to perform their role. Ice types exemplify this perfectly, the type having great offensive power while only resisting itself, yet many ice types are sturdily built. Speed is by far the most important stat to consider as moving first grants you control of the battle through attacking more often and having an easier time avoiding attacks. Even if you lack offense or defense, if you're swift you can harass your opponent with scratch damage or disrupt them with moves like Taunt or Encore. Having high offensive and defensive stats are optional depending on the role that Pokémon is meant to perform. Generally, Pokémon can get away with having a single high offensive stat since they can't be expected to attack both physically and specially, but Pokémon cannot get away with having a single high defensive stat since Pokémon can be on the receiving end of a physical or special attack at any point. This is also why evolutionary potential is important, as a Pokémon with disappointing stats in its initial phase becomes a long term investment upon evolving into a stronger Pokémon. Lastly, a Pokémon's moveset is crucial. Without the moves to properly take advantage of their stats and typing, a Pokémon is left to waste. A physically attacking electric type is a prime example of this, since they are stuck with the comparatively weak Wild Charge while physical attackers of other types have more powerful moves like Earthquake and Close Combat."

Upon finishing his tirade, Wilford realized he might have lost Cole in his answer, deciding it'd be best to wrap up with a short summary, "Sorry for talking your ear off. All I was saying is that a good battling Pokémon has the right combination of stats. typing, and move pool. What I believe makes them truly great is their consistency in performance. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this, but I believe its best suited for when I return from the fashion store."

After the last battle ended, Briar made her way outside the lobby. Looking around, she adjusted her sunglasses. Baba was on her shoulder. Frida by her side, gripping her leg as she glanced around cautiously.

Seeing a slightly familiar but hazy face. Except for those nasty birth defective eyes. She might have sobered up a bit, but he was still hard to look at. He sat in the stands then won a match against Milo. She listened to his friend explain pokémon types.

"Hmph...! Only chumps that don't know how to raise pokémon use terms such as weak. Blame it on the pokémon typing, instead of incompetent training" Briar mused to herself.

Reginald Valerias

Date: June 2
Location: Tangelo Island Pond near Pokemon Center, Orange Archipelago
Pokemon Team: Emeric the Shiny Haunter, Elvira the Munna, Bob the Shedinja, Large Marge the Drifloon, Missy the Misdreavus, Jones the Frillish, Legion the White-Striped Basculin
WCS Rank: 72,758

Interactions: Briar Hightower (ThAtGuY101), Adrianne Silvers (Godjacob)

Reggie chuckled as Adrianne read off Splash and he shrugged. "Technically, Splash isn't really about splashing but the action that leads to a splash. During when Kanto was leading the research of Pokemon, the only Pokemon they found in Kanto before migrations of outsiders had found that Splash was mostly learned by fish Pokemon. It's really just hopping in place, and they figured Splash also worked as a name. Translated from Kantonese and the regions surrounding there, it's called Hop. Splash won't be useful here, but Tail Whip could be in a more creative sense. Azurill's greatest strength is being able to swing herself and use the weight of her tail as momentum to deal more damage. If she uses her tail and focuses the energy in not only her tail but the rest of her body for the attack, she'll be able to learn Slam pretty quickly." Reggie seemed to get back into the groove of being his happier self, as he grabbed Missy's cheeks and nuzzled her face with his nose. "Shooo cuuuuute...!"

Missy squeaked in embarrassment and disappeared, Reggie's hands losing grip on her as she dropped to the floor and floated off and up a nearby tree, making him chuckle. He wiped his hands of the lingering ghostly energy as he walked towards Adrianne. "As for Peck, Aerial Ace can be any part of the body that causes damage and generally coats the body that hits wind first, like around his head and the edges of his wings. Usually it's the wings, talons, or beak that makes contact, so Peck is a good start. Water Gun is going to be tricky, but the same principle is there. Summoning water to create an attack. Aster just needs to focus on summoning water from a nearby source first in order to make a wave, and then he can focus on manifesting water out of nothing to make the attack. It also helps to have Aster just being in the water, getting a feel for how the water moves and its properties, and focusing on being one with it during our training."

Briar's apparent ritual had Reggie wondering if it was about booze. He just chuckled at her with some amusement. "I'm sure we can make it worth Maggie's while. I am a pretty damn good cook, so I'm sure I can fix up something for Maggie to eat if she likes." He noticed Baba behaving with Aster, and by that, he meant retreating to Frida and giving her a bandaid that she got from Reggie. That was pretty cute.

He then pulled out his map, trying to find the next island they had to go to before the island with the gym. He mused aloud, though he soon frowned. "Huh, there's no other island between here and Mikan Island, which is our next stop... That's a bit unfortunate." Closing the map, he pulled out the Dive Ball that held Jones, but paused and thought better of it. "Uh... I'll just wait until you're finished training your Pokemon. I gotta give Jones some one on one time and figure him out, while hoping he doesn't drown me again." Reggie chuckled sheepishly, putting Jones's Dive Ball back on his belt.

Meanwhile, while Missy was hovering over a branch partially visible from her being partially phased in their visible spectrum their eyes can see, she heard rustling behind her. She turned, and saw something with short, cream fur in a round shape blitz by. She stared for some time before returning her gaze to the training below, wondering if this was going to inspire her to train.

Ron had left rather early from what Naka saw as she nodded back, and she was only able to chuckle at it. It seemed him and Furia really needed to start walking. That was fine, they were going to catch up. In fact, it was best Ron tried to appease Furia, who obviously wasn't okay with two tagalongs.

Hearing Gwen was coming out, she looked over and smiled as she popped out with Piplup. "Morning, kiddo. Ron and his Typhlosion went out ahead. But we'll catch right up. Right, Silenus?" She grinned at her Grass-Type, who huffed and rolled his eyes before squatting. Naka sat between the seeds on his lower back and waited for Gwen to hop on in front of her, with Fluffy hopping in Naka's lap to keep everyone warm.

"All aboard the Silenus Express!" Naka said with a laugh, the Sceptile watching and waiting for Gwen to hop on.

Interactions: Ron Towers (Hecotoro)

The last Bite had done the Misdreavus in. She screeched, then did a melodramatic faint. A pair of ghostly arms came out and gripped the Misdreavus, phasing her through the rocks and returning her to Lyra. This wasn't good.

"Hmm... Water... Dark... Not good... Not good..." Lyra mused to herself. Her wild eyes darted around to see if she was able to find any rustling grass, any onlooking Pokemon, but there were none.

However, as Gwen taunted, Lyra chortled, though it definitely lacked mirth. She sounded almost a bit stressed out. "No, no, I don't reconsider. Learning experiences need to be met with scrutinizing eyes and a heart for change. Wishing to change one's actions is a fool's errand when it's already done. Clay."

The Galarian Yamask popped through the rocks, phasing back to reality. "Disable!" The Galarian Yamask's eyes shone with a bright glint, purple energy pooled under Deino's feet, flowing upward in a coiling motion, threatening to bind his energy to keep him from using Bite again for a few rounds of attacks.

Nakano Saito

Date: July 24 (26yo)
Location: Near Cianwood Gym, Cianwood City, Johto
Pokemon Team: Mudster the Swampert, Aero the Aerodactyl, Silenus the Sceptile, Hattie the Hatterene, Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Brute Tooth the Barraskewda, Orochi the Zweilous

Interactions: Theo Hightower (Sir Krazz), Charlotte (Charlotte Pryce)

Naka snorted at Theo's list of words for training Pokemon, nodding along. "Yeah, close enough." Then she remembered what kind of song he was referring to and beamed. "Hell, yeah."

Having worked with prideful Pokemon like Krem, Naka had to make Theo look less competent than the Pokemon she was talking to, but not so much where Krem wouldn't listen to him. She smiled with him when he realized he was going to fight the Flareon, making her chuckle. When Theo spoke next once they got in position, Naka threw her hand nonchalantly. "You're good. It takes time."

She waited before providing explanations of each of the moves. She watched as Krem tried Dragon Dance, but furrowed her brows. Did it work? Krem should be faster and physically stronger now, even if marginally. It must've been a move he had to work on for battle.

"No attack is useless, Theo." Naka crossed her arms, waiting for Krem's next move. Hydro Pump? That was an interesting move choice. Though, the attack was too strong for Krem to keep his footing rooted, and he slammed into Theo. Naka chuckled.

The Hydro Pump had not only hit Fluffy - who was trained to take hits by Pokemon who followed their trainer's orders, but also doused Naka's pants, who stood there unphased and kept herself from falling backwards. Fluffy shivered under the cold water, but shook the water off his fur and huffed. Despite the strong Water-Type attack, it wasn't concentrated enough due to Krem's lack of experience overall, lending to the attack doing less damage due to Krem not knowing how to utilize it properly. The Dragon Claw was next after a little argument. That was when Krem shot forward with some frustration in not being able to use Dragon Claw.

Ah, that was the Dragon Dance from earlier. It faded before impact however, and Fluffy took the hit. He growled, the Scratch attack taking some fur from his warm head tuft off. He then jumped to the side to get some distance between him and Krem.

Naka's lip twitched in disdain for a brief moment, mulling over the little argument and the words said by Theo that honestly frustrated her. Her gaze hardened. "Alright, first of all, have you ever assessed anyone in what they're doing even though you have no idea how it works? Have you trained anyone before? Pretty fucking harsh if you go with negative reinforcement and belittling. Pokemon have feelings that impact how they fight and their performance, too." She sighed, taking a deep breath, calming herself before continuing.

"Dragon Dance is a Status move and it did work. It doesn't attack, but boosts your Pokemon's speed and physical attack, which was what you saw. Second, Hydro Pump is an advanced attack that tires your Pokemon out faster due to the amount of energy is required to make the strong attack. Your Pokemon may be able to use it, but that doesn't mean he can use it properly to the full extent of its damage. He needs to train more with it and learn how to root himself to the ground properly if he's going to use it without flying away, but it's great for propelling himself if he ever finds himself in the air. Don't say he can't use it, but be creative with when you use the attack and work with training him on it. Your goal is to survive as long as possible while weakening your opponent's Pokemon until they faint. Saying he shouldn't use it is like telling Fluffy he can't use a strong fire attack because he may not be able to utilize it well, which is an insult because the only way they can get better is if they train in using it, or being put in positions where they must use it properly to win or survive. Keeping him from using something that's natural to him is like telling you to stop walking because you're not good at it, and it will just worsen the problem if you just run away from making it better." Taking a deep breath, she continued, her voice irate and firm, yet not hateful. Just frustrated.

"Dragon Claw, however, did fail, likely because Krem is distracted due to his frustrations in you not believing in him. He believes that you think he's just going to fail using a move he rightfully should be able to use properly because of your comments about what he's trying to do when this is likely his very first battle, training or not. That's like talking shit about a kid's first shitty drawing. Regardless if it did cause an upset in his attack or not, he needs to focus, but your little argument earlier did not help his self-esteem. This can be extremely detrimental for not only Krem, but your relationship with him in the long run as he'll feel resentful and will listen to you less and less, and his battle performance will suffer, which would be tragic considering he loves to battle. He's losing confidence in himself because of your words, and therefore you are actually causing him to become insecure of his own ability to use his attacks. This is a self-fulfilling prophecy at play, so try some positive reinforcement, no matter if Krem needs to chill. It takes patience and training. Just because he's hot-blooded doesn't mean you have to constantly fight tooth and nail with him because you disagree with how he does things. How about accepting him as is? He's listening just fine for a Pokemon of his temperament, a little bit of battle lust and eagerness isn't going to hurt anything besides get you two into a little bit of trouble, and that'll be a learning experience for him when it happens. And when it does happen, you better be comforting because it's gonna shatter him. No need to force a chip on his shoulder. He'll figure it out the hard way on his own. He's listening fantastically as is despite how little he should listen to you because of how Pokemon like him are, so don't fucking ruin it for yourself because you are also impatient and want to see results. You're both starting from scratch, so you have to be supportive. You're his commander and ally, not his goddamn heckler and enemy."

She looked at Krem to showcase this, her gaze softening slightly but showing off that fiery passion. "Krem, pool that energy you used earlier for your Dragon Dance into your hand, imagine longer claws, then swipe at Fluffy. It's in your blood, I know you can do it!" She put a lot of passion in her voice towards Krem, showing that positive reinforcement went a long way with training a Pokemon and showed far better results.

Orochi heard the familiar voice of his trainer drilling Theo and he let out a muffled chortle, only to melt at the belly rubs given by Charlotte. He perked up when he heard of battle t-shirts and he looked at her, as if asking if he could have one.

Cole Forrest

Date: August 2
Location: Fashion Store, Turffield, Galar

WCS Rank: 75,432

Interactions: Wilford Pine (sSoul), Briar Hightower (ThAtGuY101)

Cole wasn't expecting such a long explanation, but it was one he didn't mind at all. He mulled over his words. Apparently, he had quite the opinion on types, but at least he wasn't thinking too narrowly about typing, as he also amended that it was also the skill of the Pokemon itself that makes or breaks it. He chuckled, nodding along.

When Wilford apologized, Cole chuckled. "No no, don't apologize. It was insightful." He hummed to himself. "Hm, fascinating. We share some of the same opinions, but I don't focus too much on typing." Cole admitted, then sighed. "You say Fighting-types are of the superior typing, yet I've been very disappointed with the two I have. Their potential is lacking in performance, even with training, and they don't seem too willing to train, unlike the Meowth I grabbed literally today. It was a far more competent battler than the Fighting-Types. Had them fight each other, and he somehow came out on top despite being at a two-on-one disadvantage, and he's had less training than those two." He shook his head, mumbling to himself. "Honestly, I should just release them. Potential doesn't get better with evolution. A shitty Pancham doesn't become a better Pangoro, no matter the benefits it gets from evolution." He growled in frustration.

He heard that woman from earlier talk about what they were talking about and he narrowed his eyes, lightly elbowing Wilford's arm. "Let's go to the fashion store first." He said in a hushed whisper. "We're being followed by a drunkard. Though, judging by her Pokemon, she's stronger than us combined, so I'd rather not pick a fight with her."

He then led Wilford to the fashion store and stood outside the door, leaning against the wall away from the windows so no one inside saw him. "Get your thing fixed." He kept his eye out for that lady from earlier, hoping she didn't get any closer. Otherwise, he'd have to enact operation Meowth...

And he knew these store people didn't watch the video feed until it was already too late.

Adam would rush Yanna to the pokemon centre, though more out a need to get back before someone took his spot than any real concern for Yanna's health, though the concern was absolutely there, yes he may coddle his pokemon a bit too much. But really, it was the least he could do when he was forcing them to fight.

Once he had healed, he's turn right back around and head for the gym, not noticing the battle Esther had gotten herself into, and figuring her gym challenge had already finished. He'd head straight for the gym leader

“WAHAHA!” The gym boomed with hearty laughter as Adam entered. Gym leader Chuck stood firm and stout, bare-chested and with the faint sheen of his former battle on his skin. The man’s eyes twinkled, and he pinched the hairs of his beard as he assessed the new arrival. “Welcome challenger! It isn’t often Cianwood sees challengers in such quick succession. It’s a bit sudden but, come, we shall do battle!”

“Go, Machop!” From somewhere along the gym’s sidelines a Machop leaped into the ring. The deceptively scrawny superpower pokémon flexed its muscles in a not-so-intimidating display and hastened Adam to begin the battle. “Chop! Chop!”

Age: 21 years old
Location: Cianwood City, Johto
Pokémon Team: Fernando (Infernape level 52), Dini (Alakazam level 52), Splash (Floatzel level 49), Bolero (Roserade level 52), Hatari (Luxray level 52), Tiburon (Garchomp level 48 )
In the Box: Radar (Lanturn level 32)
Interactions: Orochi :)

Charlotte was not quite sure how she would describe Naka's tutoring style. She appeared part motivator, part drill sergeant, and part Attila the Hun. She was glad not to be in Theo's shoes, or Krem's....feet? The shoe analogy didn't work wtih Pokémon. Charlotte was content to watch from the side lines with Orochi.

Speaking of whom, Charlotte noticed Orochi looking up at her.

"Are you...staring at my t-shirt?"

It certainly appeared that way. What would a Zweilous want with a t-shirt, Charlotte wondered. Then she recalled the statement she made a short while ago.

"Oh, you want one of the t-shirts I was talking about. Sorry, Orochi. That was just a joke."

She didn't want to disappoint the cute dragon. She rubbed Orochi's right head. "A t-shirt wouldn't suit you anyway. Once you evolved, it would be too small."

Hatari by now was tired of playing and curled up next to Charlotte for a quick cat nap. The Luxray couldn't roll her eyes, but she would have at the way her trainer was behaving. Imagine! A human babying a Dark-type Pokémon. Talking to it as if it was a simple creature. Hatari seemed to forget that she enjoyed when Charlotte scratched her chin and talked to her in that 'baby talk' voice back when she was a Shinx. Even now, she'd melt at a scratch behind the ear.

Adam jumped at the machop's sudden appearance, taking a few hurried steps back and appraising the situation. Throwing out Yana as soon as he had gotten a hold of himself, he was confident... Yanma had the same type relationship with the machop that it had had with Esthers bounsweet, so he should expect a similar outcome... though the machop ought to be less agile, and likely only had physical attacks

"Fly up!" He stared, forgoing an attack for the first turn in order to gain an aerial advantage

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

"Well if Maggie is cool with it then thanks. If not I understand." Adrianne said with a touch of gratitude as she showed the Pokeball while Brair seemed to ramble on what Splash could've meant and she had to admit it had been quite the uh, colorful, visual if nothing else. During this Aster had kept close to Adrianne as it seemed to not trust this curious monkey who eyed its jewel, but hoped nothing came of that.

Reggie then decided to offer a more scientific explanation, and one that made enough sense and heck she even picked up on some Kantonese! She had not known much of other region's cultures. Beyond that, he gave advice to how Tail Swipe could be the path to learn to slam and highlighting what Aqua's strength was which was enough to get her excited. "Wow, that sounds helpful, keep that in mind Aqua!" Adrianne said to her partner as the Azurill seemed to sheepishly smile a bounce a bit. "A-azu~!"

Missy seemed to be quite cute with Reggie as Adrianne seemed unable to hide a smile in response to the bit of bonding between the two, but she kept her attention on what was important as she nodded along. "Alright Ace, gotta master Peck and get you prepped for Aerial Ace. Aster, we'll be sure to train by water when we can, should be easy around here~!" Adrianne said with a fire to her team.

Ace course remained intense and focused, if it could learn a better move he'd be prepared to do what he must. Aster in turn focused off the curious monkey to Adrianne and seemed to pick up on its trainer's spirit. Was rather infectious, but it seemed to nod in affirmation. "Star!"

Seemed the first gym was the next island on their path, which was a bit shocking, that meant they needed to get some good training in and Adrianne's face seemed to shift into focus as she nodded. "Right, wish you luck Reggie. Alright let's go guys~!" Adrianne called out walking by the coastline as her party followed her at varied speeds. She began by having Aster just to a bit of swimming, Aqua to bounce on her tail a bit and practice Tail Whip and having Ace try to use Peck to bob the water and circle back out. She seemed to be quite focused on each Pokemon equally and if nothing else, she had taken the challenge in earnest gusto.

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Course Desmond knew he had been in a pickle, and if he had not changed anything he was bound to lose, made all the worse as before Politoed had a chance to move away the yawn connected as the bubble burst and with a yawn the frog fell on its butt and seemed to fall asleep.

"D-damn it, come on wake up!" Desmond called out, biting a finger but then he got an idea. "Kricketune roll out of the way and try to bob Politoed on the head!" Desmond called out, as Kricketune's eyes widened at the side beam and it used its wings to just avoi contact, before it attempted to fly over and knock Politoed aside with what had been best described as a "gentle, but forceful shove."

If Desmond could snap Politoed awake before Aldon could follow up, he might be able to regroup but it was clear the Pokemon Photographer had been on the backfoot as he now had to play defense and for the moment Kricketune had been stuck with a 2 on 1.

It was a bold move to give the Gym Leader room to act freely. Chuck folded his arms as Yanma flew upward, “Focus Energy!”

Machop clenched its fists tightly to its sides, its previous bravado supplanted by single-minded focus. In perfect stillness it concentrated, sharpening its mind, and tempering its body. It was ready to explode with devastating power—a critical hit—should the opportunity present itself. Machop's eyes were glued to Yanma's aerial figure, while Chuck eyed up the challenger. What would he do now?

After wasting a few hours of his life that he would never get back unless he met Xerneas, the ferry finaly arrived at its final destination at Olivine's port. As the ship docked and people started gathering to disembark, Rick simply said 'nope' and mounted on Iris, and the two jumped off onto land, so he wouldn't waste anymore time waiting on the line. "Wish they'd improve the overall quality of sailing without one having to blow their bank account on a cruise." He commented, while looking at the ship behind him.

He went to check the ship schedules. The S.S. Aqua connected Johto and Kanto, and occasionaly sailed to Sinnoh as well. It was also High-Speed Vessel, so trips were very short. The problem was to actualy get the ticket to board one. They lasted forever after purchase, but were super expensive. Rick sighed. "Well, guess we're gonna take the land method. It's my favorite one anyways..." He said, shrugging.

Then, a police officer called for him. "Hey! You're one of the trainers involved in the incident with the rampaging pokémon in Yellow Rock, correct?" Rick turned arround, raising an eyebrow before replying. "Yes?" The officer nodded, and pulled out an envelop for him. "The League is sending a reward to those who helped stopping the giant Blastoise." He told him. Rick took the envelop and opened it up to find a thousand dollars in it. "Wow! You just solved my problems!" He exclaimed.

Then the officer crossed his arms and cleared his throat. "Ehem... I suggest you check the envelop thoroughly." He said. That's when Rick pulled out a fine ticket. "What?" He shouted. "Unfortunately, you're also getting fined for flying a pokémon between regions without a license, which turns out to be the same amount as the prize they were giving. In fact, that's the reason I'm here, so I can charge it right away and save us both some time." He explained. Rick sighed, closing the envelop and handing it back to the officer. "Thanks for nothing..." He said. The officer put the envelop back into his satchel, and Rick expected him to just turn around and leave. But that didn't happen.

"Now... speaking of flying pokémon. I'm sure you're the best person to explain this." Said the officer, pulling out yet another paper with some footage in it. Rick already knew what was coming, but he expected the images to be blurry to make it easier to come up with an excuse. Unfortunately, the footage was from the fight with the Blastoise when Iris was just hovering. "Rapidash isn't known to evolve, and their megastones have never been found. Gigantamax is also excluded for multiple reasons, and it doesn't have human features to be a Battle-Bond. So this is raising the League's attention. So much so, that you can keep that reward if you agree to disclose it." He explained.

Rick crossed his arms, while giving Iris a side glimpse. "I'm sure I could. But like I've said before, some things are better off not being found. And I'm afraid that someone will try to use it for their selfish deeds. I'm sure it will come to the public, eventualy, but for now it's still being studied and we would rather keep it away from the public." He explained. The officer nodded. "Very well. Have a nice day." Then turned around and left. Rick took a deep breath, patting Iris on the neck. "This is getting worse and worse. At this rate we'll have a surveillance team prying on us wherever we go." He said, before mounting and riding off to Route 39.

Adam eyed chuck back, though he still managed to look nervous- It was hard not to. Machop's focus energy did give him some time to think up a strategy, which was mainly cheesing the fight with an aerial advantage- But. If a gym leader had such an obvious weakness and didn't compensate, Adam felt they deserved to lose.

"...Sonicboom!" Adam started out with a simple attack, not wanting to risk a dodge.

Theo Hightower
Sunday - July 24th
Cianwood City, Johto
Interactions: Charlotte (Charlotte), Naka (Merciless Medic)

What did he do?? What did he say? What happened here?? One minute they were having a practice training match, and now Naka was criticizing his off hand comment, feeling as if she had misunderstood. “What? No. You know I haven't. It didn't look like it did anything to me, so I voiced my opinion on it. That's all. I wasn't trying to belittle Krem. Nothing like it. Just...giving my honest opinion.” He looked over to Krem who was sneering at Fluffy, proud of the fact he was even able to rip out some of the fire dog's fur. How was that for his first battle outside of the smart man's care?? He turned to his trainer, to see if he approved of what he had been able to do, only to see and hear fire pup's human ripping in to his human. He liked the fire in her voice!

Was she sure he was supposed to be listening to his human, or was he supposed to be listening to her? Now he wasn't so sure. He did know that seeing his human get chewed out for something he didn't understand was funny, and showed as much by chuckling at the scene. Any second now his human was going to fight back, and their human battle would be legendary!!....wait what was happening?? His human was just...talking. Where was the anger? Where was the fire in his veins? Why weren't punches being thrown right now?? His hands were up alright, but not clenched in fists. They were up in a defensive position. Didn't his human know the best defense was a great offense? If he wanted the female to come around to his way of thinking, he would need to do something seriously drastic. Something like...

Krem turned his attention back to the Flareon who had been his opponent and charged, trying to show his human the correct way to handle any and every situation: Throw yourself head first at whatever stood in your way and beat it up until it submitted. Seeing this in his peripheral, Theo would point with one hand towards Krem and Fluffy. “I....think his confidence is just fine.” Someone get this man a Burn Heal, because he could still feel the heat from Naka's onslaught. Was what he had said and/or done really that bad? If such an offhanded comment was going to be taken so seriously, was he even cut out for this pokemon thing after all? He wasn't sure anymore. He hadn't meant to heckle Krem, and he sure didn't want the pokemon to resent him. “I...I didn't mean we were never going to use those certain attacks ever again. I just meant we weren't going to do them so he went flying in to me like that again.” But what if that was somehow something that helped him train? What if he had already messed up beyond help? What if it were already too late?

Hearing his name Krem would come screeching to a halt before he got to Fluffy, turning to look at the humans again. Couldn't they see he was busy trying to prove his dominance over the fire type!?! Still, what the woman had said confused him. Energy? What energy? He thought for a second before looking to his claws. Thinking about them made them longer? He wished he had known that sooner!! The Totodile concentrated and pictured his claws growing longer like the woman said, but nothing happened. Like before he flexed his hand as if that would help, and like before nothing happened. This only fueled his anger, the emotion growing more and more evident on the Totodile's face the longer he tried. Watching this, a thought came to Theo. “Krem, use Dragon Dance then run over here like you did in the beginning.” The water type growled at Theo, daring him to give him another order. He didn't have any fire in his veins. Why should he have to listen to him?

In a fit of rage the Totodile jumped in the air, and for the second time purple energy outlined the water type for just a brief second before he ran towards Naka and Theo. Not because Theo had told him to, but because he was had all intentions of putting his human in his place! The three trainers could tell that despite the now second attempted Dragon Dance, the Totodile wasn't moving any faster than he had in the beginning. If anything he was now a step slower, likely more fatigued than he was letting on from using the Hydro Pump. He still had plenty of fight left in him, that much was clear when he jumped at Theo to hit him with a Scratch attack, Theo recalling the water type mid jump rather than catching him with his bare hands. He had already been knocked over by the water type once. He knew getting hit by the airborne croc was only going to end in pain for both of them. Krem was immediately released from his poke-ball, the water type looking to Theo before turning his back on him and Naka. Theo had been right without realizing it. The initial Dragon Dance hadn't worked in the first place.

With a light mental sigh Theo would kneel down and place a hand on Krem's shoulder, the Totodile rolling his shoulder to make Theo let go but not with enough force to actually make that happen. “Hey. No one can do everything right the first time. Believe me.” He glanced up to Naka for a brief second. “That's why we're doing this. To practice. To learn. Don't let one little hiccup like that throw off your groove. We'll just try again. And again. Aaaand again. Until it does work, yeah?” The Totodile turned his head towards his trainer with that angry look in his eye, and for a second Theo thought he was about to be minus a hand. Until the Totodile gave a nod.

As it turned out, Chuck had no intention of dodging, and not that he really could—unbeknownst to Adam, Machop’s ability was No Guard. It was a powerful ability, a double-edged sword that abandoned defense and evasion to ensure attacks landed on the opponent. However, the ability alone wouldn’t magically teleport Machop into the air to land his attacks. It would require a bit more work than that.

“Brace yourself and use Scary Face!”

Machop widened its stance, lowered its center of gravity, and cross its arms defensively over its chest. Sonic Boom slammed into the superpower pokémon who stumbled backward two steps before he stabilized. When the debris cleared Machop’s expression was terrifying to behold: a grim scowl accompanied by a tangible change in its aura. Foreboding filled the air as Machop attempted to intimidate its opponents into frightful sluggishness.

Adam had forgotten the Machop line got that ability, and he was certainly not going to remember it just yet. Instead he'd focus on what was at hand, Yanna's flight slowing considerably as the scary-face landed, all but holding the bug at his current altitude.

This wasn't as much of a concern to Adam as one might expect, the boy figuring that Yanma was high up enough to be safe.

"Okay, gust!" He ordered confidently, confident enough in Yanma's safety to fire off "dodgeable" moves

Although Machop’s ability geared it towards pure offense, that didn’t mean Chuck had no methods of defense. The Gym leader’s booming laughter emerged, “It’s time Machop, flip the mat!”

With a firm cry, Machop arms plunged into the wooden floors of the gym, creating a hard crackle as wood gave way to superpowered strength. Machop’s muscles bulged, the splintering of wood thundered, and with a mighty heave, Machop tore out several planks of wood and propped them up as a shield! Powerful as the Gust might’ve been Machop’s shield defended it handily.

“Wahaha! It won’t be that easy!”

Gwen smiled brightly, still in awe of the fact that she got to ride Naka's Sceptile. The young girl adjusted her backpack to be more comfortable and picked up Cobalt, who was all too stubborn to go into his pokeball in this snowy landscape. She got onto the Forest pokemon's back with her water-type pokemon in her lap securely, "We better catch up to Ron and Furia!" she cheered, ready for today's adventure. Cobalt let out a celebratory cry to cheer as well.

Gwen only frowned as Lyra continued to, what felt like ramble. Maybe it was her annoyed state, but she wasn't taking any of it, only finding the Hex maniac annoying. The young trainer was already set in her next move, but Lyra's move to try and Disable Ozzy's bite, just made this easier for her, "Ozzy, come back! Cobalt come on out!" the blue haired girl exclaimed, switching her pokemon again to let Ozzy rest and for her Prinplup to hopefully come and beat the Yamask, "Bubblebeam, go!" she commanded, pointing at the spirit pokemon with Cobalt's beak glowing with the familiar blue energy to charge up and promptly launch the water type attack.

Adam gaped, jumping back at the sudden action and momentarily stunned by the tactic, trying to figure out a counter... Though it wouldn't take long, Adam's shocked expression quickly morphing back into the confident one he had been wearing before.

"Use it against them! Whirlwind!"

Yanna's wings started flapping rapidly, the bug rearing up and letting out a much more forceful wind in the Machop's direction, aiming to pin the machop to the floor with its own sheild.

Sunday July 24
Gym, Cianwood City
Johto Region

The winds roared and raged, threatening to pin Machop beneath the weight of its own shield. An inspired response. “Impressive kid! But challenging a fighting-type in a contest of raw power?” Chuck let his question hang and allowed Adam to see for himself the result of his challenge. Although it has initially been struggling beneath the winds, once it had time to gather its footing and brace itself, Machop seemed fully capable of resisting Yanma’s onslaught of winds.

Although Machop released a confident cry, closer inspection would reveal beads of sweat forming along its brow. Though Machop was stronger than Yanma—it’s physical attack higher than Yanma’s special attack—it was just barely so.

“This is your chance Machop! Once the winds break rush them down with Bullet Punch!” Chuck was rather confident in this move. The speed of bullet punch paired with Machop’s no guard ability and Yanma’s own reduced speed meant it would be difficult for Yanma to evade fast enough. Machop would have to abandon its shield in exchange for such speed and mobility, but it was well worth it. It would take a clever ploy to evade this attack!

--ADAM WESLEY--
7/24/XXXX - Cianwood City

Adam had some time to consider his options as Machop fought against the winds... Opting to try and trade a weak bullet punch for a possible advantage, Machop would need to get airborne to hit Yanma. And with a weak, non-type matching attack, he was sure Yanna would take it well

He waited until Machop was too far into the attack to abort to give his order, looking pretty self-satisfied.

"Take it and get under them! Use whirlwinds again and keep them in the air! Don't let them land!"

Yanna would follow, taking the hit and in exchange going for said manoeuvre. An attack probably would've been better, but Adam was pretty set in "outsmarting" them.

Chuck stroked his beard. Keeping Machop airborne was indeed a good play. It all but assured the superpower pokémon had no means of attack. However, that didn’t mean they were helpless. Since they couldn’t attack then... “Alright Machop, use Leer!”

Machop tossed and turned amidst the winds, but its eyes were sharp and seeking. Leer allowed it to observe Yanma’s weak points and effectively break through the bug type’s defenses.

“Keep it up Machop, let them decide how long this lasts.”

Chuck laughed and settled in to wait. Although Machop couldn’t move to attack, he could repeatedly Leer at his opponent. If Adam kept this up, Yanma’s defenses would eventually be reduced to nothing, and at that time, a well-placed strike from Machop might spell the end for the boy’s first gym challenge!

Nacrene City, Unova (June 3rd)

"Nobody move! This museum is the property of Team Plasma now!"

Tensions were high in Nacrene City, as a group of Team Plasma loyalists seemed to have raided the Nacrene Museum and now held countless individuals hostage inside. Team Plasma may have been a shell of itself, as Ghetsis was bested long ago and N had long reformed, but this group of dejected Ghetsis loyalists still seemed to be quite dangerous as local law enforcement had been kept outside and several guards surrounded the facility.

Course, it also helped that it just so happened that Lenora was out of town during this take over, which may have contributed to this rogue group's confidence.

"Listen and listen well, if you follow what we say and do, nobody has to get hurt. This city has plenty of desirables and until those end up in our hands, you'll remain in our "care" so don't do anything stupid and nobody better try to play the hero." A masked man and leader of this Plasma rogue group seemed to say to his captives; among them included a family where a man seemed to have an injured knee and a scared girl cuddled behind her mother's arms as an aggressive Houndoom seemed to growl their way to keep them and others in the main hall in line.

Things seemed to be dire, but unknown to those at ground level, aid seemed ready to descend from above. An airship that seemed to have this sort of steampunk aesthetic was masked by the clouds as a five man crew walked out on deck; chief among them, a woman who seemed to have a bit of a grin as they seemed to see the town below them just past the clouds and in particular the museum in question.

"Alright, according to our contacts, a bunch of Ghetsis fangirls have manage to take control of the Nacrene Museum. Our mission is simple: Drive out these Plasma punks, make sure the people held captive inside are safe and bring a bit of stability to things. Am I understood?"

"Yes captain!"

The crew seemed ready, a muscular man, a younger girl, an old man, and a colorful woman. Quite the odd ball assortment, but they all seemed ready for the task ahead of them which is what mattered most. The woman they addressed had a flashy grin as a gleam seemed to shine in her eye, one would think that a line of rescue work would be a bit nerving, but for Rodriguez, a thrill seeker by nature she only seemed to feel a fire rise in her stomach as she pulled out a Pokeball.

"Good, then it's showtime~!"

Seeing Chuck come up with a counter to his strategy, Adam realised he was in a bad position, Yanna's stats being lowered whenever there was a free moment- Adam had to change things up

"Drop them and use signal beam when they're below you!" He tried to go for as much damage as possible, using signal beam to damage Machop outright while also using the force behind it to speed up their fall... He was unsure of it

Sunday July 24
Gym, Cianwood City
Johto Region

Why not gust? Such idle thoughts crossed Chuck’s mind as the prismatic bug beam slammed Machop into the ground. The damage was considerable, but it was lightened by the fighting type’s natural resistance to bug-type moves. The resistance kept Machop in the fight, but Chuck could tell, from the bruises on Machop’s body, that the fighting type didn’t have much left in the tank. It was time to go for broke!

“Let’s finish things Machop, Revenge!”

With a furious cry, Machop leaped to its feet. Its muscles bulged and flexed as the damage it had accumulated earlier was transformed into power to fuel its vengeance. It’s no guard ability was pushed to the limit, correcting, adjusting, compensating—every subtle movement made by both Machop and Yanma was processed as the ability gifted Machop with almost predictively precision. Almost.

Machop moved, a massive leap carrying it quickly into the air. Its arm reeled backward; a fist cloaked in fighting aura cocked to strike as soon as Yanma was within reach! This was the moment, do or die!

--ADAM WESLEY--
7/24/XXXX - Cianwood City

At first, Adam thought Machop didn't have a chance of hitting Yanna with revenge, considering how high they still flew... It was only until Machop leaped much higher than it reasonably should did he realise his mistake... The Machamp line got No Gaurd.

...

This was bad, Yanna had a 4x resistance to fighting. But with all the other multipliers on Machop's favour and Yanna's low base defense, Adam wasn't sure it even mattered... He had to get desperate

"Hypnosis!" Yanna's eyes turned a vibrant pink as it reared back, trying to intercept Machop's approach with the attack.

Chucked laughed as Adam called for Hypnosis. That was a great utility move and one whose drawbacks happened to be largely mitigated by Machop’s own ability. Luck or had the boy been prepared? Either way, for a first gym challenge the boy had more than proved his mettle. The referee called for the match’s end as Machop fell asleep and plummeted back to the ground.

“How about that! All right, you’ve proved yourself worthy of the Storm Badge! You can collect it and your winnings from the front desk. Congratulations young man.”

As soon as Chuck finished the gym trembled. The Gym leader raised an eyebrow but didn’t seem too concerned.

“Wahaha, it seems like some other trainers are having fun in the training rooms!”

“Wha–what the hell was that!”

Esther scornfully regarded her opponent with smug satisfaction; in spite of the results of the battle, she reveled in the abject horror reflected on his face.

Smoke cleared the battlefield and reveal the prone form of Halay-Alae, defeated but arguably in better shape than her foe. Esther looked over to the opposing Hitmontop—poor thing. It trembled on its feet; its arms clutched tight into a boxer’s guard. It had seen better days. Esther focused on the Hitmontop’s right side: burns, terrible burns blackened its arm and torso. She was frankly amazed it was still standing! Her eyes shifted further to its right, eye a sizeable spot, burned black and burning still with tenacious off-color flames. As they dwindled to a smolder, so too did Esther’s anger. That was enough, that more than enough.

Her eyes returned to her opponent, the Dojo Breaker. What had he said his name was? Whatever. He had won but victory had come dearly.

Esther returned Halay to her pokéball, glancing at the Dojo breaker once last time. “Idiot,” she spat, before taking her leave.

The plan seemed to be a multi-prong offensive, which given they had the element of surprise was a flexibility they aimed to capitalize on.
First and foremost had been from the air, as Captain Rodriguez called upon her Flygon and took to its back, as it sailed down from the clouds at high speeds. A few Plasma grunts had been on the roof as they scanned the area around the museum, though as one female grunt looked up with her binoculars she seemed to pick up something in the sky.

"Hey, you see that?" She asked her scouting college who seemed to have been a bit busy adjusting his hair with a portable mirror before he glanced over almost annoyed.

"Oh what, if it is another dumb Tranquill I have half a mind to..."

"Dragon Rush!"
Without warning the Flygon seemed to roar out and fired a projection of this white and purple aura which descended down and struck by the scouts on the east side of the roof, an explosion and a pair of screams sounded as the grunts had been sent flying back and knocked into a wall taken out before they even were aware of what happened.

From the skies, Rodriguez seemed to jump down to the roof while her Flygon raimed n the air, as she had an earpiece set up in her Pokemon and herself which she used to add it to the connection line. "Alright, just continue to take out guards you see on the roof, keep them busy and be careful."

"FLy!"

"Flygon moved up and flew to another section of the roof to carry out its objective, during this, Rodriguez seemed to call upon her partner Absol from its Pokeball and set up what seemed to be this strange receiver device that folded open and seemed to light up as it established communication. Rodriguez seemed to tap her earpiece once more.

"Alright the seed is planted, counting on you Wiz."

~~~~~
Inside the museum the Plasma grunts seemed to be on a bit of unease, a small rumble had caused a few members to stir curiously as the leader frowned a bit before he reached for one of his communicator. "Scouting group something wrong?"
No answer, only static.
"Scouting group, do you copy?" The leader asked, only to get more static. This seemed to be perplexing, though the concerns only grew as another grunt noticed something as well. "Hey boss my Pokesketch seems to be buggy."
"Same with mine."
"The hell!?"
Unknown to the perplexed group of criminals, way high back on the airship within her own chamber Penny seemed to scan several monitors and appeared to be hacking into the tech of the Plasma grunts; that "seed" as it turned out was a special device that allowed her to hack into the signal they used as well as jam their communication lines.
Something that the young girl seemed to find...annoyingly simple. One would figure even rejects of a major criminal superpower would've had a tricker line to crack, but alas she tapped into her earpiece to relay the news.
"Their network is good as dead and communication is jammed. Ground team your turn."
~~~~~
"Alright, you heard them. Sure you are up for this gramps?" Zeke asked, as the large man seemed to remain hidden with Maddie and the aforementioned "gramps" Arthur who only had been able to chuckle in response.

"Ah the worries of youth. Just be sure to get inside once I've made a big enough stink." Arthur chuckled as Maddie rolled her eyes but none the less she and Zeke moved along the cover just outside the museum while Arthur casually wandered out where a tense standoff because the police and guards of the main entrance.

"Stand down! If any of you try anything, the hostages inside are gonna get it!" One of the Plasma grunts called out, as he along wit several members and their Pokemon seemed to guard the main entrance while Officer Jenny and her backup seemed to take cover position behind their cars as her Growlthe seemed ready to let loose, but escalation could only risk the hostages inside and Jenny's group were undermanned as she tried to call for backup on the scene.

"Now now, where could he be?"

However, much to the confusion of both sides, an old man who seemed to have faded vision walked out casually as he can be as the Plasma grunts eyed each other with mutual bewilderment.

"Hey get out of here you old fart!" A female grunt called out as her Mightyena growled his way while another grunt's Machoke seemed to crack some knuckles. Not that the old man had been able to catch that, as Arthur seemed to have this causal innocence about him as he seemed to have what appeared an apologetic look.

"Oh my my silly me, must've wandered off again. See I was looking for a friend of mine who was out ofr a walk, seems you kids have been busy." Arthur said with a chuckle as the officers considered running int o pull him back, but while the Plasma grunts seemed befuddled by this, that "friend" of his had managed to sneak along the wall and decided to make a move.

"Lucario!"

With a cry, an Aura Sphere slammed from above onto the pair of Pokemon as a Lucario revealed itself and landed next to Arthur whose silly grin shifted to a more playful one. "Ah, glad to find you. seems a walk won't be enough tonight. Let's have some real fun~"

While Arthur got the attention of the grunts around the front, one of the side entrances had been left undermanged as Zeke and Maddie walked over by it. Zeke released his partner Samson (A Gurdurr) while Maddie released Drowzee and together they overwhelmed the lone grunt and his Zubat knocking them out andout of the way.

The door seemed to be barricaded, but that was no issue for Zeke who pulled out a small power saw and cut through the bolts before he and Maddie had snuck inside the museum.

Now that politoad had fallen asleep, kricketune had attempted to wake it up with attacks of it's own. Skol's next attack would have advantage over the sleeping frog.

"Use water pulse this time, Skol!" Aldon called out. Aiming for politoad. As for Bolly and kricketune, Aldon had no intentions in turning the fight at any point into a two on one. He looked at his baltoy.

"Use power trick!" Aldon called out. Bolly's body began to glow in various different colors. Lighting up. Bolly's attack and defence capabilities had swapped! It's attack was now higher than it's defense.

Briar chuckled when Reggie mentioned how he could cook whatever Maggie could want.

"Is that so? Well then it sounds like a deal, then!" Briar answered. She turned to Adrianne, whom voiced her opinion on Maggie being a goo water type example for Azu to learn from. Briar nodded.

"Yeah, totally! I know she'll be happy to help, sure" Briar commented. Though Maggie was still in her pokéball as this conversation went on, and had no intentions in hopping out now. Briar didn't have any flying pokémon, so she wasn't sure if she could help Ace with flying type moves, so she didn't comment on that.

With everything the way it should be, Baba was pleased, and ready to relax. She climbed up Briar's leg. Then up to her shoulder. Looking around for something to do. Occasionally glancing back at Aster. her desire to paint on the gem had not diminished one bit, nor would she be swayed from her goal.

"We're inside Captain, think you can get a few of those guys outside?"

"No problem, leave it to me!"

Rodriguez seemed to descend down a fire escape with her Absol, as she had gotten updates on the communication line that the operation was going swimmingly enough; Penny had taken care of the enemy's communication and disable their network, Arthur was creating chaos and stirred attention in the front, Maddie and Zeke had gotten inside and she had just wrapped up clearing the roof scouts as she returned Flygon. Now she needed to join the main fight up front, which as her grin seemed to suggest she was looking forward to.

"Bisharp Low Sweep!"

The leader of the Plasma Grunts, with communications down for reasons that eluded him, had to address the attack out front as he left a couple guards behind for the hostages and walked out with a pair of reinforcements. Bisharp seemed to be his ace, and attempted to sweep the Lucario but it managed to flip backwards and landed next to Arthur who along with the few officers there confronted the growing group of Plasma rogues.

"Enough of this, cut him down with Night Slash!" The Plasma rogue leader called out, but just as Bisharp charged towards Arthur's Lucario, only to be cut off as Rodriguez and her Absol landed down between them and Absol intercepted with a Night Slash of its own as the two dark energies collided and Rodriguez seemed to smirk.

"Sorry but I couldn't resist cutting in~" Rodriguez said as Absol overpowered and drove the Bisharp back as the Plasma rogue leader and his men seemed to be nerved though the leader himself scowled.

-----
During all of this, the few Plasma grunts who remained inside were in disorder. Communication and their tech seemed to be disabled by some outside source, so they had to scramble to organize and communicate with each other. With their scouts on the roof unaccounted for and the majority of their forces now out front, the whole thing was chaos!?

"Damn it, what is going on!?" One of the Plasma grunts who had a Hitmonchan out cursed in front of the confused and cuddled hostages. The female grunt growled a bit with her Purugly in toe.

"No idea, but keep your cool. We are Team Plasma! We gotta show we won't lose our nerve from some idiots playing hero." The female grunt said, as they and a couple other grunts tried to keep a lookout of the area and more importantly keep the hostages from an escape, if they lost them they had lost their leverage and this whole operation had been destined for failure!

During this, the side entrance that Zeke and Maddie snuck into allowed them to hide by the stairs, as they scanned the area and saw the now limited grunts and hostages, they knew this had been a golden moment to strike and neither wasted time as they exchanged nods and their partners seemed ready.

"Samson Dynamic Punch!"

"Drowzee Psybeam!"

Before the Grunts even had time to turn around, the area they and their Pokemon stood was knocked aside as Samson and Drozwee moved and engaged the panicked grunts in battle. Maddie moved by the hostages, as she already had her med kid out and had just released Blissey who began to tend to the wounds of the injured man as she faced the scared individuals and tried to keep a calm composure to things.

"Everything is gonna be all right. We're gonna get you out of here. Just tell me who else is injured." Maddie explained. During this, Zeke coordinated Samson while Maddie's Drowzee played support as the former used its signature steel beam and slammed it into a Mighteyna who slammed into its trainer as Drowzee in turn used osme Poison Gas to help obstruct them and make a toxic wall between them, the hostages and the Grunts as they were forced back.

"Damn it, get them!" One cursed a bit while Maddie seemed to patch up the man's injured leg and already began to lead the hostages safely out of the side entrance as Zeke provided cover and also released Growlithe to aid as they pushed back an attempt by a Sandshrew from clearing through the Poison Gas. He quickly tapped an ear piece.

"Captain the hostages are being cleared out!"

Good news was that Aldon decided not to press a 2 on 1 attack and Kricketune seemed to succeed in knocking Politoed away from harm, but that had come with the bad news that it took the hit from the Water Pulse and was knocked back damaged by the blow.

"Darn it, try using Sing on Skol!" Desmond called out, and Kricktune nodded as it rubbed its appendges and a gentle tune along with some energized musical notes began to lift up and drift towards the Psychic Type. Hey if Aldon aimed to use Sleep status than Desmond least needed to try.

Speaking of...

"WAKE UP YOU STUPID FROG!" Desmond yelled to Politoed, who remained asleep which course had not been good news but he needed to try and stir him...somehow.

Wilford furrowed his brow as he listened to Cole describe his training troubles. Though he was saddened to hear that the Fighting Types his friend had grabbed couldn't perform like his Monferno, it intrigued him that an untrained Meowth proved a better fighter than two trained Pokémon with a type advantage. Managing to defeat both of those Pokémon in a two-on-one training situation under the aforementioned circumstances was a testament to this idea. Wilford imagined the prospect at facing this Meowth in combat, but his mind was more prominently occupied by Cole's assertion.

"Potential doesn't get better with evolution"...

Wilford's eyes drifted towards his suitcase, his mind focusing on his other Pokémon. Togepi and Panpour were his weaker Pokémon, the former by nature of her species, the latter by nature of inconsistent performance. Both were considerably more docile than Monferno and Thwackey, though the rich young man was unsure if that was due to their lacking field time or their natural personality. Furthermore, Wilford was aware that a Pokémon's personality has been documented to change upon evolution, hoping that those changes would be for his good when the time came. Of course, whether the time would come was another question altogether.

Cole's elbow broke Wilford out of his train of thought. The rich young man lowly groaned at the news of being followed by a drunkard, allowing his eyes to locate the aforementioned drunkard before ultimately heading inside the store.

Dark-skinned, orange-eyed, green-haired woman. I'll inform Henryson about the woman and instruct him to find locals matching the description. Filing a restraining order from there shouldn't be too hard.

Much like the rest of the town, Turffield's fashion store failed to impress the rich young man. Truth be told, Wilford nearly had to prevent himself from gagging as he scanned the outfits the store had to sell. Upon noticing an employee near the cash register, he pulled himself together, removed his Dynamax Band, and approached the desk.

"Well aren't you a well-dressed fella!" The cashier paired a smile with the compliment before leaning next to the register, "What brings ya here?"

"I'd like this customized," Resisting the urge to smile due to the compliments, Wilford placed his band on the counter adjacent to the cashier, "Make the base black and the accent's indigo. Add a metallic sheen as a finish"

"Sure thing, will that be all?"

"Yes."

"Perfect, that'll be 10 Pokédollars, I'll be back with your Dynamax Band shortly."

True to his word, the cashier returned with the Dynamax band now matching Wilford's suit, as the rich young man intended. Wilford reequipped the band, smiling at his purchase before paying and leaving.

"I got my band customized to my liking. Assuming you don't have any other plans here, I think it's best I show you my full team and you show me mine. Of course, this is after we leave this dirtball town."

Aldon slid to the left, then slid to the right. He watched as kricketune would attempt to sing to Skol. With his hand to his chin, he called to Bolly.

"Use confusion to interrupt their singing!" Aldon called out. As he did, he heard foul words he had never expected to hear from the maw of his dear friend Desmond. Words bitter black as his soul which could cut like a knife.

YOU STUPID FROG

Words Aldon would never use to describe Skol or any of his pokémon. He put his hands on his hips and cocked his head back. Looking down his nose at Desmond as if contemplating calling People for Ethical Treatment of Pokémon.

"Where is all of this anger coming from?" Aldon asked as if he were a psychiatrist talking to one of their patients.

"Swords Dance, and follow up with Night Slash!"

"Aura Sphere!"
The battle just outside the museum seemed to more tip against the Plasma rogues. In spite of their numbers and even the leader getting involved, these two invading trainers proved to be strong. As Rodriguez's Absol charged and delivered powerful strike to Bisharp as it was slammed into the wall with force. "Sharp!" It cried out.

An Aura Sphere slammed and knocked a Vigoroth aside and into its partner as the Lucario landed in front of Arthur. The older Pokemon had a slight pant but remained focused as the grunts tried to organize and surround them, the only silver lining had been the officers more playing support as they worried jumping in would create too much damage and might risk the hostages inside.

However, something seemed to send a signal to the officers devices, they glanced as a mysterious message seemed to offer some assurance: Hostages are cleared, you don't need to pull back.

Naturally Jenny and other officers had no idea where this message came from, and Jenny seemed hesitant to trust it but there seemed to be confirmation as one of the Grunts who seemed to be coughing inside the museum rushed out to their leader.

"W-we lost the leverage, we got ambushed!" He cried out as the leader turned with alarmed concern, while Rodriguez seemed to smirk a bit in response.

"Alright, give them hell!"

"Take them take them!"

Rodriguez and Jenny gave the orders, and now the disorganized and weakened Plasma grunts had no chance as the members of the Blazed Heart Crew and local law enforcement would put the pressure and finish off what was left of their major forces; the battle was as intense as it had been relatively brief, as most grunts panicked and attempted to flee being easier for officers to isolated and apprehend them.

Rodriguez pinned the leader down as Jenny slapped cuffs on him, and the members of the group were being rounded up while Maddie and Zeke returned, Arthur of course seemed to pet its partner as Rodriguez pulled out her Pokesketch and seemed to get Penny on a visual.

"Good work Wiz, everyone. You guys were awesome." Rodriguez complimented as Officer Jenny and the director of the museum walked over to their group with a curious bit of relief that had been on their faces.

"Thanks for the assist, a little reckless on civilians end but we cannot say we don't appreciate the aid." Officer Jenny affirmed.

"P-please, how can we ever repay your group. W-what is your group?" The musuem director asked as the pair were given this symbol by Rodriguez that seemed to be a logo; a heart consumed by golden flames with the letters BH across it in black as her eyes seemed to shine.

"All in a days work, you can just refer to us as the Blazed Hearts Crew~"

Awwww, that Azurill was just too damn CUTE! Reggie felt himself wanting to gush over the shy Baby Pokemon but he figured the poor thing would end up hiding or smacking him if he ended up gushing like he usually did. He waved as Adrianne ran off, then realized he should probably at least watch her train, or figure out Jones. Or cook...

Actually, he had a good idea!

As Adrianne went to the coastline with his Misdreavus tailing her to watch the training, Reggie went rummaging through his backpack and pulled out some kitchen utensils, a foldable table, a portable gas-powered stove, and a big pot. He released his Haunter, the blue-tongued shiny tilting his head with his tongue sticking out. "Keep an eye on this stuff please. I gotta get everyone's wishes for food~." He sang before running off towards the coastline, pulling out a little notepad and pencil. He came strutting up to Adrianne, tapping her shoulder with the pencil. "Soooo, while you're training, what shall I get you for this evening, Miss Adri?" He asked with a funny, posh accent, a goofy indescribable expression on his face as he looked towards her Pokemon training hard. "Oh, and them, too." He pointed the back of the pencil to them.

Once he was done getting Adrianne's order, he went to Briar. "And you, Miss Bri? Your Pokemon, too." Same expression, same posh accent.

Meanwhile, Emeric was busy watching over his trainer's cooking materials when he heard rustling in the brush. As he stared at it, out came a beige blitz that rushed onto the table, grabbed the pot, and tried to leave. Of course, that didn't really end well with a kneejerk Hypnosis coming from Emeric's eyes, showering the fleeing beige Pokemon with sleepy sensations. The monkey fell over, the pot rolling away. Floating over, the Haunter turned over the fuzzball and grabbed the pot, but saw this thing had a pig nose...

Oh... It was a Mankey...

Wonderful...

Interactions: Ron Towers (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker (IDKWhatUserNameToDo)

Note: Hecotoro has left the RPing scene, so he's given me permission to auto Ron and his Pokemon for the time being.

Hopping on behind Gwen, she tapped the side of her Grass-Type once her Flareon was in her lap, and the Sceptile rushed off and out of the lodge, skidding to a halt and showering the side with snow, and then running off towards the entrance to Route 217.

The frigid wind blowing past them bit them and a sudden rush of cold wind from an ensuing blizzard tried to sink their icy claws through their clothes and bite through to their bones. But given how warm they were with not only Fluffy's ambient warmth and their clothes, they were kept safe for now, the only parts of them getting affected would be their face.

Soon enough, they caught up to the man and funky Furia. Sliding to a halt beside them, Naka slid off and walked beside Ron, chuckling. "Oh, leaving without us? Tsk tsk, couldn't wait, could you? Oh well, the faster we get out of here, the better." Ron's internal surprise that she wasn't mad stayed internal, of course. "Was Furia getting antsy?"

Upon hearing her name, Furia glared back at them, specifically at Naka, who didn't pay it any heed. Ron grinned a little. "Yeah, a little." He admitted, the Typhlosion huffing and looking straight ahead.

They weren't even fifty feet from the entrance to Route 217, and the weather started getting worse. The blizzard's winds came in from the east, then the west, then north, tossing and turning and trying to churn them this way and that. Fluffy stayed on the Sceptile, who made sure Gwen stayed with them to prevent the little girl and her Pokemon from getting lost. Naka found herself getting shoved along by the wind enough to almost lose sight of Furia, then Ron, then her Pokemon.

Where was everyone?

"Fluffy?!" She yelled out.

The Flareon couldn't hear her as the winds got so bad it started to dim the light coming through. He still glowed brightly, allowing Ron to find Gwen and the Sceptile. Peering through, he pointed to what looked like a cave and yelled for them to enter there. He was initially worried about Furia and Naka, hoping they'd be okay, but keeping that to himself as he made his way towards some respite, feeling disdain that he was forced to hide out the blizzard with Pokemon he didn't like. They couldn't have been too far, could they?

Unfortunately for them, Naka had followed a glow, but realized it was more purple than the yellow she was accustomed to from her Flareon. She knew it had to be Furia, so that meant Ron was nearby, right? She hurried forward, and found Furia, but no Ron.

The Typhlosion glared at woman braving the fierce winds, as if accusing her of doing something to Ron. Naka just shook her head. "I didn't see Ron come this way. It's too hard to see. Let's keep going until we see a cave-" As soon as she said that, the blizzard in her area died down in its harshness, but the winds continued to circulate around them, covering the rest of the route in a harsh blizzard that prevented many from crossing through.

Naka and Furia looked around warily, their bodies tensed for action.

"What the..." Her voice died in her throat as she saw a silhouette coming in from the harsh winds. Her skin paled.

Hearing the call to swap, Lyra took this opportunity to command her Pokemon. "Night Shade." The purple eyes glowed red and shadows became pooling underneath like a liquid before appearing right where Prinplup was, the liquid shadows blowing up in red and blue spiraling lights to attack the penguin. However, the Bubble Beam made its mark, and the Yamask was thrown back and into the rocky wall.

Squeaking, Lyra yelled. "Energy Ball!" The Yamask began hovering and created a green sphere between its hands before throwing it to the Water-Type.

That's when she heard a rustle and she looked over. A small grey biped holding a coin that was almost as big as it was staring from a blade of grass. She let out an excited squeal. "FOUND YOU!!" She sent a return beam from her ball to the roaming Gimmighoul, causing the poor thing to squeak in surprise before getting returned. She giggled manically as she held the ball to her face, almost crying. "You're back, you're back~... Oh, how I missed you, Lucky~."

Interactions: Theo Hightower (Sir Krazz), Charlotte (Charlotte Pryce)

Naka didn't understand it fully. Her body felt fine, yet there was this odd kinship she had with this Totodile. It wasn't even hers. That frustration the Totodile felt hit her so hard...

When she was traveling away and going to Cianwood, the curiosity and glee the Water-Types held in seeing the boat travel by their territory like so many before had her feeling the same thing. But considering she was always like that when she spied Water-Types keeping pace with passing boats, she didn't think there was anything different. After being gifted with the gift of the water, she slowly began to realize that talking to Water-Types wasn't even a part of it.

It was being a huge empath.

She felt the frustration the Totodile felt subside from within her as she watched Krem and Theo talk it out. Well, now she felt awkward. She stood there, as if having an epiphany and also really confused at her realization. Her brows knitted and she held her hand to her head to calm the swimming, restless thoughts. She looked towards Charlotte, then Theo, a frown on her face that showed how upset she was, but it was more for herself.

She needed to apologize.

"That... Was unbecoming of me..." Naka started as she got close to Theo and Krem, her blue-grey eyes a little less bright.

She had listened to what Theo said, and wanted to make some amends. "I... Don't know what happened to me. Ever since winning the Whirl Cup, I've been feeling really weird. Like, all the emotions of the Water-Types near me become mine, as well. Regardless, that's no excuse, and I should've been better than that. I'm sorry. I'm not... normally that volatile, especially to a friend." She huffed, a slight blush on her cheeks for showing humility. She then shook her head. "No, your words just... came off dismissive. Of course, you didn't mean right now, but for later, but I didn't understand, and the frustration became worse. As if I was Krem for a moment. That... Was strange, but either way, you can be a good trainer. Heh, I wasn't a good one either starting out. I kept pushing my Pokemon too hard, and ended up getting one pretty hurt. Everyone must start somewhere. I..." She paused, hit with another epiphany and she shook her head.

"I'm going to try and take a less hands-on approach in training you. If I try too hard, I will only prevent you from learning how to be a trainer. I've been trying so hard to jumpstart you to somewhere that I think all I'm doing is holding you back. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll be leaving you for right now, we still got a place to go through and catch Pokemon in, and I want to see you try and catch something without a Pokemon's help." She grinned wide. "Of course, I thought the Dragon Dance did something. Krem's sudden burst of speed afterwards fooled me into thinking it worked, but I realized after some thinking that the glow wasn't bright enough. This is common for Pokemon born with strong moves from their parents to not know how to use them properly or build up enough energy to use them to their fullest potential. That just requires battling experience and using the move over and over until you perfect it."

She sighed and shook her head, eyes going to the sand. "Still... I shouldn't have been so rough with you. With your own Pokemon, this is your first time. I'm sorry." She then looked over at Krem, smiling apologetically. "Don't let my verbal assault to your trainer fool you. He's a good, smart guy, we just got off on the wrong foot for this fight. You need to learn as much as he does, too. You don't think you do now, but you will realize you will in time." She then chuckled dryly. "Your fury was very potent." She laughed, shaking her head and then going back to Theo.

"You don't have to forgive me or anything. I still feel like shit and you forgiving me might not make that feeling go away until I make amends for it by doing something for you, so uh... Yeah." She awkwardly said, looking away with a scratch of her head.

Meanwhile, Orochi nodded at Charlotte's question, but upon hearing it was a joke, both of his heads fell in the sand from some exasperation, as if saying 'you got my hopes up for nothing'. But then he got head pats, so he stopped feeling so bad. He heard that a t-shirt wouldn't fit when he evolved and he stared at her with both pairs of beady eyes, and then both heads gave a dopey smile and with tongues sticking out. He barked, sounding like he said "bet".

Apparently, what Cole said seemed to resonate with Wilford. He followed his gaze to his suitcase, raising an eyebrow. What was he thinking about? He then waited by leaning against the wall, the aforementioned Galarian Meowth popping out of his Pokeball at Cole's behest. The Steel-Type stared up at the human, his wide yellow eyes staring at him with intrigue, his sharp teeth glinting in the light from his perpetual frown.

"I got an idea..." Cole mused to himself. He looked back in the store and grinned. "I want you to go around the back and claw a door with Metal Claw. That's all." Hearing such a simple order, the Meowth meowed and ran off towards the back of the store, slashed the back door that led into the storage section of the store, and then ran back around to the front. Cole smiled upon seeing his Meowth come back just as Wilford came out and spoke to him.

"Nope, no other plans. Let's get them healed up, then we can head to the east end of Turffield and call for a ride." His Meowth stared up at Wilford, yellow eyes staring through him unceasingly. Unlike the other Galarian Meowth, this one had his metallic beard hair trimmed to a manageable length so it didn't look so unsightly. It was still there, but it wasn't as shaggy as it was. Of course, that would mean that Cole had to get his hands on an angle grinder as the hairs were steel, but it worked. The claws the Galarian Meowth had held some paint chipped onto the claws and some metallic bits, as if the Meowth did indeed slash something metallic. But before anyone could check on who did it, they would be long gone.

Cole wanted to just annoy the store clerk here before he left, as he was the brother of the dipshit that yelled at him in the gym stadium lobby.

Returning his Meowth before the cat could issue a challenge, the two young men went to the Pokemon Center to heal up their mons, then to the east end of town and going through a different way to avoid the crowds. Once they hit up the exit to the route, Cole called for a Corviknight Taxi. "Let's not be late for that dinner, shall we?" He grinned, happy to just escape this town and going off somewhere else.

That somewhere else being Hammerlocke. Way better atmosphere, cooler in temperature, and it didn't try to assault one's nose with hay fever. Perfect.

And, according to Cole's notes - which he had been dutifully filling out during the taxi ride on his notebook - held some Pokemon he needed for the next gym.

Locations of interest:
Isle of Armor - Heard of a Zorua, Snivy, Venipede, Salazzle, and Rockruff were here.
Crown Tundra - Heard Gible and Froslass were here.
Alola - Heard Zubat, Kabuto, and Banette were here. Will also look into Z-Crystals.
Paldea - Heard Wattrel, Varoom, and Glimmet were here. Will also look into Terastalization.

Goals:
Evolve Magikarp(?)
- It has proven futile that this Magikarp’s potential is anything more than garbage, and it doesn’t hold a promising hope that it will be a good Gyarados. I might have to release it soon if it doesn’t prove as formidable as Totodile at some point.

Evolve Grookey, Totodile, Rookidee soon
- These three have proven to be great battlers, and it’s showing. They’re getting closer and closer to evolution, I can feel and see it. They are starting to take incorporations of their next evolution into their base form until the ultimate point of evolution. Hopefully, they evolve soon.
- Finally, they have evolved. I can rest easy.

Work on Pokémon for the next gym: Water.
- I studied and it seemed like Galarian Meowth is supposed to evolve after the time we try Nessa’s gym fight. I want to see if I can get him to evolve before we do so, as it would prove a greater adversary against the Drednaw. As for the rest of the Pokémon on my team, I need to strengthen Thwackey, Croconaw, and then find replacements for the Fighting-Types. I do need something as utility. After hearing we’re going to Hammerlocke, there’s Morelull and Machoke nearby I can catch. Maybe I can find a Snorunt and Axew around Hammerlocke Hills, too. If that Machoke turns out to be shit, I can do something I’ve been dying to do for so long.

Find potential in Stufful, Pancham, and Trubbish.
- These three I caught before the Galarian Meowth, yet the newest addition in the cat has been showing far more promise far more quickly than these three. I got these two Fighting-Types to combat Nessa’s Gigantamax Drednaw. Will need a replacement soon if these two don’t work. Trubbish seems too timid to handle the training regimen. Will need to replace it soon.

Moves:
Totodile -> Croconaw -> Feraligatr
  • All three are Water-Types, so they are all weak to Grass- and Electric-Type moves, as well as Freeze-Dry. After studying the versatility of these Pokémon, I am surprised at the amount of coverage they have. It can cover all but one, and that is other Water-Types. Iron Tail isn’t exactly suitable. I prefer Iron Head, but it’s the best coverage against Fairy- and Ice-Types and it does give better defensive options since it’s the tail and not the head. Aerial Ace is thankfully a Flying-Type attack I prefer. At least the Fighting-Type attacks are far more reliable, with Brick Break being my biggest priority, Superpower being for high damage, high punishment. I do want to try out Focus Punch in a double battle, and Low Kick when I can’t afford to buy the other Fighting-Type attacks and for heavier opponents minus Dynamaxed. Due to Sheer Force, the secondary effects of some of these moves won’t function. This means Iron Tail doesn’t decrease the target’s Defense.
  • It knows many of the physically grueling field moves, as well as all of the water traversal moves. These include Surf, Waterfall, Whirlpool, Dive, Rock Climb, Strength, Cut, Rock Smash, Dig, and Headbutt. I’ll need to save up money for these or get a Pokémon who can teach these.
  • I need to replace these moves as soon as possible, preferably these special moves for physical ones. Aqua Tail and Liquidation, maybe I can chain together Iron Tail and Aqua Tail. Replace Mud-Slap for Dig and then Earthquake. Replace Bite for Crunch. Replace Ice Punch for Ice Fang. Replace Dragon Dance for Screech, until I can buy Hone Claws and Swords Dance. Unless Dragon Dance is better, then I’ll train her to use it again.
  • Synergy with this Pokémon requires a setup Pokémon, and a Grass- or Electric-Typed Pokémon to handle other Water-Types that are either too bulky or special attackers, preferably another Grass-Type. Grookey is doing fairly well, and I hope he doesn’t disappoint me. Otherwise, I will just have to replace him with another Grass-Type.

Only a few Pokémon can learn Freeze-Dry and they are thankfully all Ice-Types. These include: Galarian Mr. Mime and Mr. Rime, Glalie, Glaceon, Vanilluxe, Cryogonal, Amaura and Aurorus, Eiscue, Arctozolt, Arctovish, Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Ninetales, Lapras, Swinub and Piloswine and Mamoswine, Delibird, Galarian Darumaka and Galarian Darmanitan, and Frigibax and Arctibax and Baxcalibur. Thankfully, all of them can be beaten with a Fighting- and/or Steel-Typed attack from Totodile’s evolution.

Magikarp -> Gyarados
- While Magikarp is a pure Water-Type like the Totodile line, Gyarados is a Water/Flying-Type, double weak to Electric, and gaining a Rock weakness. At least it will resist Fighting and Bug, and Grass becomes neutral, but those aren’t really something I’m worried about. While Gyarados is a powerhouse, Feraligatr would already fill that niche. I’ve seen Magikarp far better than this one, so this leads me to believe that this Magikarp has very low potential to be anything. If she doesn’t get any better, I’ll have to abandon her. I do find it vastly amusing that her Rattled ability activates when I even just look at her. How cute.

Grookey -> Thwackey -> Rillaboom
  • All three are Grass-Types, all weak to Flying, Ice, Bug, Poison, and Fire. Before I get into the prospects of this Pokémon’s battling experience, I’ve noticed this Grookey seems more optimistic than the other Pokémon, and has stayed with me the longest despite me putting it through more rigorous training. If anything, my dumbass of a father somehow gave me a strong contender, but I hope this optimism doesn’t disappear when he starts evolving. I would have preferred it if he got me one with Grassy Surge instead of Overgrow, but beggars can’t be choosers.
  • Covering his weaknesses, the Grookey line has access to… Enough coverage. Fighting for Ice, Flying for Bug, and Ground for Poison and Fire. It doesn’t have an answer for Flying, and its other types it gains access to are pitiful at best. Dark and Bug are the other two, aside from Grass. The only ones that are covered are Ghost, Psychic, Grass, Dark, Poison, Rock, Steel, Fire, Electric, Fighting, Bug, Normal, and Ice. 13, which is still a good number, but when a few moves from the types you have consist of U-Turn, Acrobatics, Fling, Snarl, Thief, and Knock Off… Ugh.
  • Either way, depending on how long this Pokémon is staying, might as well make the most of it, make it a bulky bruiser. Moves I’m thinking of would consist of Grassy Terrain, Leech Seed, Drum Beating (for G-max purposes), Bulk Up, Knock Off, Brick Break, Acrobatics, and Earthquake.
  • Synergy with this Pokémon would be a bit difficult. He works better as a physical wall that hits hard, so he’ll need some protection from special attacks, and anything that could cause him to lose that bulkiness or get bypassed completely, like Toxic.

Rookidee -> Corvisquire -> Corviknight
  • The first two being Flying-types while the last evolution being a Flying/Steel-Type, I hope this one stays. After tireless searching, I finally found one with Big Pecks (as it will become Mirror Armor as a Corviknight) and the appropriate personality, despite the agility loss. I don’t know why I did what I did then. I was just so angry. But she’s so carefree. I hope she doesn’t get smart and leave.
  • Covering weaknesses at first, Rookidee and Corvisquire only have a few to worry about, them being Electric, Rock, and Ice. Very few birds are able to learn Ground-Type moves that isn’t Sand Attack, so I figured Electric wouldn’t be covered, which is fine. My Totodile can handle it when she gets there. But Fighting is good against Rock and Ice, which she thankfully has Rock Smash now. I want to try out Power Trip one of these times, but it would likely be easier with a Baton Pass setter. As for Corviknight, their weaknesses include Fire and Electric. Again, no Ground, and neither do we have Water or Rock, but my Totodile can handle that.
  • I’m thinking of making her a bulky Pokémon, pure and simple. Maybe play with Power Trip some more. Power Trip, Hone Claws, Pluck, Steel Wing, Iron Defense, Tailwind, Agility, and Roost.
  • Synergy requires making sure this Pokémon doesn’t get hit by any super-effective moves at first and then outliving her opponent by setting up enough.

Stufful -> Bewear
- Both are Normal/Fighting-Types with surprising health that, when backed by Fluffy and covered by Water-Types, becomes rather formidable. I wanted this Stufful to become a physical tank. However, I realize that she’s pretty useless. Despite her attitude, which I can respect at some points, she doesn’t really take training seriously. If she can’t pull her weight, I’ll have to ditch her. It’s a pity, considering I was going to get her help against Nessa. She also acts high and mighty, like she’s done nothing wrong. It irks me. It just reminds me of all those fucking snowflakes back in that dusty waste they call a farmland.

Pancham -> Pangoro
- A Fighting-Type now, a Fighting/Dark-Type later after training with a Dark-Type, I grabbed her because I thought I could use her Scrappy ability to fight part Ghost-Types who were weak to Fighting-Type attacks, like Spiritomb and Goldengho. However, her clingy attitude is frankly annoying. Her intelligence and tenacity are all she has. She doesn’t have the physical prowess a Fighting-Type like her should have, and it disgusts me. I might as well get rid of her along the way to the second gym.

Trubbish -> Garbodor
- Both Poison-Types, I was going to use him as a setter. Throw Toxic Spikes into the field, reset the opponent’s raised stats, poison them, and then when he faints, explode with Aftermath - given there are no Pokémon with Damp. He didn’t reach my expectations. He’s too worried about his own life, and his own indecisiveness is making me wonder if he’s thinking about running. If that’s the case, I don’t mind giving him a better excuse to do so.

Galarian Meowth -> Perrserker
  • Both Steel-Types, weak to Fire, Ground, and Fighting. Steely Spirit would be great if I had more Perrserker with Steely Spirit, but I do not. Still, it is something I can take advantage of in a double battle. Even without the possibility of Tough Claws or Battle Armor, this Pokémon is very capable. Intelligent, quick, durable, this Pokémon might as well be close enough to a dream come true in a catch. Will need to save up for an Ability Capsule or just use the Steely Spirit as a useless ability to put onto another opponent in a Double Battle if I got a Pokémon with Skill Swap.
  • This Pokémon is surprisingly versatile. Aside from a handful of Steel and Dark moves, it also has access to some interesting special moves, like Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball. To cover for weaknesses, there’s Grass and Water for Ground, Ground and Water for Fire, and Fairy and Flying for Fighting. It also has access to Bug, Electric, Fighting, Ghost, Poison, Dark, and Steel. Overall coverage includes Ground, Rock, Water, Fire, Poison, Steel, Electric, Fighting, Dragon, Bug, Grass, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, Flying, Normal, Ice, and Fairy. All 18 types. That feels great.
  • Moves will include Iron Head, X-Scissor, Throat Chop, Thunderbolt, Play Rough, Brick Break, Seed Bomb, and Dig. Extra moves being Aerial Ace, Shadow Claw, Gunk Shot, Chilling Water, Night Slash, and Fake Out.
  • Synergy? This Pokémon doesn’t need to, just make sure he’s alive long enough to get rid of any other threats that may be posed to others on the team.

Get Grass Badge
- I have been studying Milo. He uses a wide variety of Grass-Type Pokémon found across Galar, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra, but uses a few as his main Pokémon, abilities and moves randomly chosen based on the level of challenge requested.
Here is a list of Pokémon he may mostly use in fights: Oddish, Gloom, Bellossom, Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Cherubi, Cherrim, Bounsweet, Steenee, Tsareena, Gossifleur, Eldegoss, Applin, Flapple (G-Max), Appletun (G-Max).
Here is a list of Pokémon he rarely uses: Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur (G-Max), Vileplume, Grookey, Thwackey, Rillaboom (G-Max)

Get Water Badge
- I need to study Nessa’s fighting style and the Pokémon she uses. I just know she uses Drednaw as her signature and G-maxes it 99% of the time.

Adrianne Silvers (Normal Class: 96,094)
Tangelo Island, Orange Archipelago (June 2nd)

Adrianne of course was there to check on her team and train them up a bit. Aqua did look quite cute bouncing a bit on its tail as it tried to master Tail Whip. Similar earnest energy was on display with Aster and Ace, as the Staryu swam around and tried to build up speed while the Spearow dove down to the water to peck the surface and circled back up, as if it tried to beat its best time at the effort.

Adrianne smiled a bit as the Misdreavus decided to watch on, she felt a tap on the shoulder as she turned and Reggie being Reggie, asked what she wanted to eat while adopting what she presumed to be a waiter accent as she had not been able to hide a giggle as she thought over her orders.

"Well, I've always enjoyed some chicken if you have any of that. If not I can do with a sandwich. Far as the others go, Aqua has always been a lover of fruit, while Ace seems to be more a fish lover and Aster seems to enjoy berry juice." Adrianne said as she outlined the preferences of both herself and her team to Reggie. "Thanks as well, this is a nice gesture on your end."

Desmond Andrews (Unranked)
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond blinked a bit as Aldon seemed to shift into a therapist mode as he seemed to take issue with his insult while Politoed continued to snooze a bit, even having sucked on one of its webbed appendages with a dumb smile on its face.

"Sorry if my language upset you "mom", just....guess I'm not good at this battle thing." Desmond said, as he had begun with a bit of sass to him before he had led to a more honest admission to the frustration that caused those words to leave his mouth.

During this Kricketune's sing attack was intercepted by confusion, though at the moment both trainers seemed busy chatting as Kricketune kept a guard up but waited on a new command before it'd do anything more.

Blazed Hearts Crew
Nacrene City, Unova (June 3rd)

"Great work team, another day saved and many more butts kicked. Alls well that ends well I say~!"

Captain Rodriguez gathered up the crew around the dining table of the airship that currently was docked just outside of Nacrene City, and needless to say their efforts to thwart this rogue Plasma faction had been quite successful. The day was saved, the hostages were rescued and almost as importantly they had gotten a good payday for the effort.

Now the group all seemed to enjoy some drinks (Wiz having some soda) as the group basked in their moment of glory. Though even as they celebrated, Zeke seemed to only have one thing on the mind as he downed a sizeable shot.

"So, got anything more lined up? On a bit of an adrenaline high and eager for the next gig." Zeke said with a big grin.

"My my, seems you and Rodriguez switched roles today." Maddie said with a slight sass as she took a sip of her drink but Rodriguez seemed to grin a bit as she reached into her jacket and pulled out what seemed to be a job request.

"Why does it not shock me you already had that prepared captain?" Penny mused a bit as the captain seemed to disregard that before she folded it up and prepared to outline the next opportunity for the Blazed Hearts Crew.

"For those curious, we have a big opportunity in Galar. See Motostoke Stadium is hosting the exhibition battle before the Masters 8 tournament, and such an event is likely to draw a sizeable crowd both of locals and trainers from around the world. Given its proximity to areas such as the Den of Dragons aka Lake Axewell, there is cause for concern that this spike in trainers and those looking to add to their team while there for to watch the battle could destabilize the area if it goes out of hand." Rodriguez explained, outlining the chief concerns of the mission file before she faced her crew with a big smile.

"So the Motostoke City Council decided to take a bit of precaution, calling on skilled trainers the world over to aid in security efforts along with local law enforcement. A bit of bodyguard work should be right up our ally." Rodriguez said as she gave a window for everyone to react to the offer presented to them.

"Has been quite some time since I've last been to Galar. A shame as well, you attempt to climb to the top of one of those Dyna-whats it stadiums ONCE and you suddenly get a label that sticks to you." Arthur said with a chuckle as Penny only had the ability to sweat drop that anecdote. "Seems like fun so I am for it captain."

"Being hired muscle isn't my area of specialization, but I suppose I can work to make sure these energetic idiots don't break down networks as they flood the city." Penny said, as she had given her own sort of approval.

"I'm all for it, seems like a good chance to make sure my team are up to snuff. Besides, get a chance to see some of that special Galar tech up close." Zeke said as he had a bit of a bubbly enthusiasm.

"I know there is likely to be chances people and Pokemon get hurt if chaos gets out of hand, so I feel the need to make sure they are cared for. You can count me in." Maddie added on with her own resolve and smile which seemed to clinch things as Rodriguez had a fiery gleam in her eye before she raised a fist in the air.

"Alright, we need to check in there and be ready to go by the 9th. So let's set sail to Galar~!"

"Aye Captain!"
