Kaden Miller - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh
Kaden saw an opportunity to make use of his contest knowledge by clashing his opponents pokemon's moves with his own. The red beam of energy was taken out by the raging flames, making it clear that this was an extremely powerful fire-type attack. Hopefully this would work.

"Astraea, Surf!" the coordinator called out, swiping his hand to the side. The gem on the Starmie flickered again with a giant wave of water materializing behind them and washed over the entire battle field and managed to cancel out Blast burn and created a massive cloud of steam from the quickly evaporating water, even making the Mysterious pokemon nice and shiny in the process.

Lara Brook - 10th of June - Route 3, Galar

"I think it would be fun and of course an issue would be noticed to keep the catching to a minimum," Lara said with a thoughtful nod, "Ah, I just got a new and unexpected pokemon, but I suppose I would keep the option open," She then continued as the two women continued to walk, with Lara seeming more engrossed in the current conversation than looking around for pokemon to practice filming with some more.

Well, that was the case until Rotom made an excited whir as they spotted a group of Gossifleur riding the wind, twirling and dancing around happily.

"Oh! Look at those Pokemon! I've seen them before around here. I think they're called Gossifleur," Lara said excitedly and pointed at the hoard of grass types, "We could use them to practice filming something that's moving quickly," she then suggested and turned to look at Nicole.

Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - Battle field behind the Pokecenter, Eterna City, Sinnoh

As Ozzy ran past his target, he did manage to catch her scent of fresh and sweet strawberries. As he collided with Ron, he let out a cry and was ready to bite down on his ankles if it wasn't for him jumping away and then Gwen calling out his next command, "Wrong target! Behind you. The Espeon!" she called out trying to flail out directions but then remembered that her Deino couldn't exactly see.

Ozzy had only noticed one thing that stood out to him and it was whatever had smelled like sweet berries. He turned around and started to charge in for another tackle, but halted when he heard something fall beside him, making the young Deino thoroughly confused and bit the air around him.

Gwen looked to the side to see what had caused the distraction. It was Naka's Pichu! Well, looks like she was already scolding the Tiny mouse pokemon. The young trainer turned back to her pokétch to look for any other moves that could possibly help Ozzy and then found something, or potentially so at least.

"Ozzy, Focus energy! Calm down and listen to where Luz is!" Gwen then instructed, trying to hopefully do something good. The young Deino straightened his neck and took a moment to focus on his surroundings as a red aura surrounded him. He managed to pinpoint the direction of the strawberry scent and loud purring came from there as well. He could only assume that was his opponent.

"Deino!" He then cried out and took up to a sprint once again, charging at Luz with all the might his small feet allowed him to charge at.

Ron Towers, June 16th, Eterna City.

Luz heard the pebble fall close by and for the first time, her jolly attitude disappeared, barking towards the direction of where the pebble had been thrown from, barking as if scolding whoever did it. Even Ron pressed his lips, as if he was the one being scolded. It didn't last long though, once she saw Ozzy focusing on her, she jumped in her place playfully, cheering the dragon on.

Bam! Ozzy hit Luz and the Espeon's actress persona emerged, she used her psychic powers to send herself flying upward, not even the right direction, doing a few flips and then landing next to Ozzy on her back, letting out the most overacted yelp in history.

"Uh, yeah good job?" Ron tried to hold his laugh in, clearing his throat, "Okay Luz, we trying to train him, run around!".

Luz jumped to her feet, pretending to limp, but Ron clicked his tongue and she began walking normally and then breaking into a skip around the dragon. She continued to purr loudly though, helping the Deino's aim.

"Keep your munchlin on track Naka." Ron called out, sarcasm in his tone.

Montagne Khastil - Unranked - June 20 - Menhir Trail, Kalos

Monty stared into the fire as it crackled and popped, watching the sticks reduce to ashes as the logs finally started to catch. It had taken a few tries to get the fire going, but thanks to the wonders of modern technology (a lighter) it wasn't long before their camp was illuminated and the collapsible pot was put to use.

"Hungry?" Monty called out to Oracle, who was resting on her bedroll across the fire from him. She'd stayed in the same spot since they'd set up camp, her eyes closed and head down, and she hardly acknowledged her trainer. She made small movements with her head, her horn reflecting the firelight as it swayed back and forth, and Monty huffed and said, "Fine, ignore me. I'm hungry, though." He poured a water bottle into the pot for boiling, and as he waited for the water to bubble it occured to him that Oracle may be searching for disaster.

The criminal frowned, recalling Oracle's species' reputation as harbingers of disaster, but what could strike them now? He looked around, but there was nothing but forest. No storm clouds, no coasts close enough for a tsunami to sweep them away, and no mountain close enough for a rock slide to be a threat. Maybe an earthquake? Monty shuddered at the thought, but he'd never known Southwestern Kalos to be quake-prone.

Whatever. She could search for whatever she wanted, but he'd searching for a good meal option. Monty dug through the small stockpile of camp food that the PokeMart salesman suckered him into buying, settling on a thick packet of gratin dauphinois with bacon, and wagged it at Oracle. "What do you think of th-"

The Absol's eyes suddenly snapped open, and her head shot up and looked out into the forest. The shadows cast by the fire seemed to accentuate the darkness which surrounded them, and Monty was unnerved by his partner's sudden stirring as he scanned for whatever she had sensed. The night had gone strangely silent, the only sound being the crackle of the fire, and Monty half-held his breath as he listened for a sign of whatever spooked Oracle.

Their stalker had arrived. Oracle had sensed...something...on the edges of her horn's sensitivity intermittently throughout the day, the vibrations from its steps weak and hard to pin down by the time they reached her, but the vibrations had ceased entirely when the sun went down. It was...unnerving to say the least, made all the worse by useless Monty's obliviousness, and Oracle had grown tired of feeling like she was being hunted. Now she was the hunter, and their stalker was about to walk right into her trap.

Oracle felt quite pleased with herself and her brilliant plan, but it was a fleeting feeling as she sensed another set of footsteps approaching. Then another. Then...this could end up being a problem.

"AWOOOOOOOOOO!"
"A-A-AWOOOO!"
"AROOOOOOOOO!"
"RO-RO-ROOOO!"

An eerie chorus of howls erupted from the darkness, coming from all around as Monty and Oracle leapt to their feet in tandem. They were surrounded?! How many were there? What was even coming? Oracle's fur stood on end as she activated her Pressure, stifling the camp in the oppressive aura in preparation for battle. The howling cacophony was incredibly off-putting, and the sound was unlike anything Monty had heard before. It was a hungry sound, almost frantic with excitement, and the longer it went on the louder it got.

In perfect sync, the howling ceased, ushering a silence that was even louder than the howling was. Monty's blood pumped with anticipation, and his mind raced for something that would give them an edge against what sounded like a dozen opponents.

A solution clicked, and the criminal speedily dug through his pea coat pockets for the X-items, and grabbed one labeled "X-Attack". The criminal shouted to Oracle and tossed the capsule, which she snagged with a quick SNAP! of her jaws as the first of their opponents emerged from the darkness.

A low growl sounded as a Houndour limped from the shadows, the firelight glinting off its eyes and bone growths. It looked rough, clearly having taken a ton of recent damage, and Monty realized that it must be the Houndour from earlier. The Dark Pokemon's malice was palpable, and smoke poured from its nose as it exchanged glares with Oracle. It wasn't alone this time, though, and a pair of Houndour emerged at its flanks.

Before Monty could shout a command, Oracle was on the move. With a crackle of black sparks she SLAMMED! into one of the Houndour, sending it crashing back into the darkness before the other two could react. The battle had begun! Oracle's Pressure crashed over the remaining two, hindering their attempt at escape as the Absol's paws lit up with a bright-pink light; << Play Rough >>.

The injured Houndour rolled between Oracle's legs, popping up behind her as she set into the other one, but its companion was wide open! Her paws stomped down into the black-and-orange puppy, tearing into it with her claws and dealing super-effective Fairy damage, and it howled in pain as it flailed its legs in a fruitless defense.

Oracle sensed the injured Houndour jump up, but its attack wouldn't land! DID THESE PEONS NOT KNOW WHO SHE IS?! Oracle << Detected >> the incoming Bite, and she side-stepped off her battered opponent as her attacker collided with its companion. The Absol loomed over the pair, gathering energy in her horn for a Night Slash, and she raised her head up to swi-

"QUICK ATTACK, DODGE!"
WHOOOOSH!

Sensing the disturbed air from an incoming projectile, Oracle whirled around as she activated Quick Attack. An Ember was rapidly approaching from across the camp, and Oracle ducked underneath the ball of flame as she sprung forward at super speed to meet her new opponent. A fourth and fifth Houndour had revealed themselves, both of their noses pouring smoke as they prepared a second volley, but thanks to Quick Attack Oracle was faster.

She leapt up, contorting between the soaring Embers and crashing into her opponents, two legs each. The Absol THUMPED! to the ground as the two Houndour were sent rolling back into the shadows, but before she picked herself up she sensed a new opponent. A stronger opponent.

"DETECT!" useless Monty shouted, and Oracle obeyed unquestioningly as she rolled out the way as a roaring column of flame impacted the spot she'd just been in. The eerie howling erupted once again, the cacophony blaring from all around the camp, as at least ten Houndour stepped forward from the shadows.

Monty's heart dropped at the emergence. He'd heard that Route 10 was particularly prone to hordes, harboring several pack-bonded species, but most sources he'd found online said they rarely exceeded five or six Pokemon. This pack numbered a dozen, not counting the ones Oracle had already defeated, and the Houndour growled and barked, snapping their jaws in a frenzy. The anticipation of a meal was clear on their faces.

Shit, what was he supposed to do? Breath stuck in Monty's throat, and his heart POUND! POUND! POUNDED! in his chest as he thought back to the Tyrouge battle at the brothel. This was the same feeling as back then; fear. Would Oracle be able to handle so many? Would they be killed? Would he be eaten?

A sudden wave of Pressure poured off of Oracle, snapping Monty back to the present and riling up the Houndour even more. The Absol stood defiant against the odds, holding herself high and proud in the face of so many opponents. There wasn't a shred of fear in her posture nor her red eyes, which were wide with fury and disdain. She believed she could win, no, she was certain of her victory.

Resolve wouldn't even come close to what Monty sensed from his partner. She was livid that these Houndour would dare challenge her in the first place. Oracle's horn glowed in the firelight, a shining blade ready to cut down whoever would be foolish enough to be her first attacker, and her venomous glare struck each Houndour in the circle as she poised herself to strike.

A << Howl >> pierced the Houndours' barks and growls, and they immediately fell silent as a much larger black-and-orange dog revealed itself. Two horns curled back from its snarling face, and a long pointed tail lashed back and forth as it sized up Oracle. Monty didn't even need to bring up the PokeDex to recognize the menacing Pokemon; the skull like growths and the Houndours' subservience told him enough. They were facing a Houndoom.

The Houndoom let off furious barks, a clear challenge to Oracle who emanated Pressure in strong enough waves that some of the surrounding Houndour physically dipped down under the weight. One of them seemed to grow tired of waiting and it sprung at Oracle from her side, its jaws glowing with a << Bite >>, but before Monty could call for Detect the Houndoom sent a WOOSH! of flame at its subordinate.

Oracle stood unfazed as her attacker was blown backwards by Incinerate, howling in pain and writhing on the forest floor for a few seconds before going still. Holy shit, Houndoom killed it! The Houndoom barked again, whipping its head back and forth between its subordinates, and the message was made clear; they were not to interfere.

Who would make the first move? The two Dark-Types spent a small eternity sizing each other up, looking for an opening in their defenses and signs of an incoming attack. The Houndoom seemed content to wait for the Absol, and it bore a Nasty expression as though Plotting its first move.

Oracle was growing impatient, though. The Houndoom must have been the first peon smart enough to recognize her for the queen she was, and it seemed wary to be subjected to her might. Black sparks crackled up her legs at the same time as smoke began pouring from the Houndoom's nose, and Oracle SHOT! forward; straight into a wave of Incinerating fire!

The Absol SPRUNG! upward, wasting her Sucker Punch to dodge the Incinerate, but the Houndoom was ready for it. It leapt up, Fire spilling from its Fangs, but Oracle preemptively Detected the attack. She tucked her legs in mid air, falling just underneath the Houndoom's jump and Slashing at its belly with her dark-as-Night scythe.

The Houndoom grunted in surprise, and both Pokemon spun to face the other when they landed. The Night Slash only grazed the Dark Pokemon, failing to draw blood, and though little damage had been done both Pokemon had a better idea of who they were facing. Oracle's opponent was a cut above its minions, and she'd need to be wary of its quick foll-

"ROOOOAAAAR!"

The Houndoom Roared at the Absol, and her heart skipped a beat as she shut her eyes against the overwhelming noise. She heard useless Monty call her name through the noise, and she opened her eyes to see the Houndoom was already on her! Oracle tried to spring backward, shocked that she'd let herself be distracted so easily, but the attack was already connecting.

Houndoom RAMMED! its black-glowing horns into Oracle, throwing her backward toward the circle of Houndour. The puppies' skull caps were glowing black, too, and in quick succession they SLAMMED! into Oracle over and over. She was getting Beaten Up!

After several blows, the Houndour fell back into line and Oracle sunk to the ground. The Absol could barely hold her head up after the thrashing, and she glared at the Houndoom defiantly as it loomed over her. The camp was silent for a moment, until a different kind of uproar spread through the surrounding Houndour. They started yipping and yapping, a raucous display that contrasted the earlier barks and growls yet was eerie all the same; they were laughing.

The sound swirled around Monty. "Oracle," he whispered, staring at his partner. She was hurt. She was bleeding. Her glare remained furiously defiant, but her body was sinking further down with every passing second. Even her Pressure had almost completely subsided. The Houndoom joined in the jeering, gloating laughs of its subordinates.

"Oracle..." Monty world swirled around him, fear creeping up like smoke and clouding his vision. This wasn't how it was supposed to happen. She was supposed to be strong. They were supposed to be strong. So how could it already end like this, so soon?

Monty began to sway on his feet. They were supposed to get their first gym badge. They were going to get stronger than anyone in the Old Guard. He made her a promise, to get her back home when they were finished. He was going to keep it. It wouldn't end like this.

He may not have been a great trainer, but there was something Monty was good at. The criminal's body began to move on pure instinct, swiping a log from the smoldering fire and chucking it at the Houndoom. The Dark Pokemon ceased its laughing, snapping its head to the side and releasing an Incinerate, effectively taking the bait.

The flames' momentum dulled by their impact with the log, Monty dove through the Incinerate with his pea coat held in front of him. The coat caught the remaining flames and Monty tossed it to the side as the Houndoom, dumbfounded that a human would attack itself, prepared a Bite attack.

Monty wasn't afraid anymore. He wasn't scared to face a Pokemon. He wasn't scared of its attacks. He wasn't scared even of losing his life. Throwing himself into the heat of battle cleared the young man's mind, and for the first time in over half a year he felt like himself. Fighting was his element, his life, his pride, and if Oracle couldn't fight anymore, he would; and he'd win.

Time seemed to move in slow motion as Monty perceived the Houndoom's stance, anticipating its trajectory and side-stepping just as its jaws passed by. He knew he couldn't truly defeat the Houndoom, but he could get it into position to be defeated. The criminal shot his hands out, grabbing the Houndoom by the horns and TWISTING! with all his might.

Caught off-guard by the grapple, the Houndoom moved where Monty directed it, directly in front of the battered Absol. Monty wrenched upward, pulling the Houndoom onto its hind legs as it sprayed Incinerates wildly and exposing its belly to Oracle. She understood what she needed to do. Useless Monty had given her this opening, and she wouldn't waste it. Maybe he wasn't so useless, after all.

There was no gathering of energy. There was no shouted command, and there was no glory to be won in victory. From the first Houndour's appearance it started a battle of life and death, and Oracle gathered every last scrap of strength she had to THRUST! upward and end it the same way.

The Houndoom cried out, thrashing in Monty's grip, but the damage was already done. Oracle cleaved her horn downward, and the thrashing ceased. The battle was over.

Monty released his grip and the Houndoom sunk to the ground. There was a wild look in his eye and a wild grin on his face, and his voice was thick with the high of adrenaline as he spread his arms wide to address the shocked crowd of Houndour. "WHO ELSE?!"

Oracle stood high, too, her furious glare directed outward, and with a final pulse from her Pressure the Houndour started to scatter. Their yip-yap laughing had turned to scared whimpers, and all but one turned tail and ran. The remaining Houndour barked after its fleeing pack-mates, livid that they would run from a fight, and upon seeing the last one leave it turned to face Monty and Oracle.

The adrenaline high wore off, but Monty's mind was still clear. He didn't have anymore tricks to pull off, no coats left to sacrifice to the Houndour's ever-burning fire, and it took every effort from Oracle just to remain standing. The Houndour was a small target, harder to grab on to, and Monty assumed the only reason he'd managed to grapple the Houndoom was that it underestimated him.

Upon noticing which Houndour he was facing, a final trump card appeared in Monty's deck. It was the injured one, the same one they'd encountered that morning.

"This is the second time you've witnessed our strength!" The man shouted, confidence flooding from every syllable. "We beat you once! We beat your leader!" The Houndour kept growling, keeping low to the ground as Monty continued, "But you still think you can win against us?! Even now?! Look at you!" Monty started laughing at the Houndour, jeering at it the same way its comrades did Oracle. "You're weak!"

The Houndour's growling continued, though it seemed half-hearted. Monty's words seemed to be getting through. "But-" he continued, "-you don't have to stay weak! You already proved you were stronger than those others when they ran away and you stayed!" The Houndour's growling ceased altogether, and while its expression remained hostile it puffed its chest up a bit.

"Don't you want to get stronger?!" Monty asked. "Don't you want to be as strong as us?" The criminal's slipped a hand into his pants pocket, retrieving the dormant Dusk Ball. He expanded it to full size and crouched down, getting onto the Houndour's level. "Join our team," Monty said, holding the green-and-black ball out. "We're already the most powerful in the entire Kalos region. Everyone else just doesn't know it yet. And you can be right up there with us."

The three left in camp stood still for a moment, the fire casting flickering shadows over each of them as they waited for the Houndour's decision. Eventually it padded up to the Monty, investigating the Dusk Ball with its powerful nose, and Monty pressed the button to its skull-capped forehead.

The ball shook once...twice...thrice...and sounded a satisfying click. The strength gone from both of them, Monty and Oracle dropped to the ground at the same time, him onto his ass and her onto her legs. They'd survived the horde. They'd proved who was stronger. Monty looked at his partner, who regarded him with tired eyes, and said "I wasn't just bluffing. We are gonna be the strongest. Everyone else won't know what hit 'em."

The criminal lifted a hand to pat his partner, but she just fixed him with an irritated glare as she began licking her wounds. "Oh, right! Sorry, I'll grab the Potions!"

Nakano Saito

Date: 1 Month Ago (26 years old); June 16
Location: Eterna City Pokemon Center Battlefield, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Fluffy the Flareon, Hanu the Infernape, Yuki the Froslass, Aero the Aerodactyl, Orochi the Zweilous

Interactions: Ron Towers and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker and Ozzy the Deino (IDKWhatUserNameToDo)

Well, at least Gwen was trying with Deino. It seemed that she was getting the hang of it besides the blunder from earlier and Chu unhelpful distraction. But using that Focus Energy to better find where Ozzy's target was located was a genius idea. Brilliant, even! "Good job, Gwen! That's thinking outside the box!" Naka cheered, pumping her fist in the air.

Of course, Fluffy didn't like the distraction Chu had given to the two blind Pokemon. It was completely rude. He glared at the mouse before looking at Luz. She seemed okay, if not acting completely feral there. It only cemented the fact that she needed to be protected, even if she had the power and skill to make that moot.

Ozzy hitting Luz also caused some worry from her Flareon, the Fire-Type watching the melodramatic actions and fully believing the Deino hurt her that badly. Only to realize he was duped when she stopped mockingly limping. His ears fell. No, he shouldn't be getting that attached that quickly to anyone. That was a mistake on his part.

Naka chuckled at Luz's antics though, finding it funny. Still not attacking. Luz likely was strong enough to knock out this Deino in one hit. Hearing Ron's remark had Naka chuckling. "Yeah, well, she's not the one you should be worried about, Bob. I got two others dying to watch the fight for completely opposite reasons." She held the two PokeBalls at her hip, hoping they won't just burst out.

Montagne Khastil - Unranked - June 20 - Menhir Trail, Kalos

Monty managed to treat the worst of Oracle's wounds with one of the Potions he'd bought, but she was in rough shape. The Absol winced as her trainer applied the medicine, letting out a low growl as the stinging fluid seeped into her wounds, and Monty apologized for the pain. They sat for a couple minutes while her cuts closed, though Oracle was still shaky on her feet when her trainer asked if she could stand.

"We'll need to get to a Pokemon Center ASAP, then," Monty said, pulling out her Luxury Ball. "I'll pack up camp, you wait in the Ball." For the first time Oracle didn't protest, making her trainer think she must be really hurt, and he packed up the camp as fast as possible. He stomped out the fire, which was mostly embers at this point, but paused as he looked down at the Hounds' bodies.

The criminal rubbed his knuckles as he replayed the fight, how the adrenaline high overtook him; how it made him feel alive. It was a feeling he'd almost forgotten, ever since he was imprisoned for the first time over half a year ago. So many successive defeats by Pokémon had broken him down, but the circumstances of finding that feeling again weren't something he was eager to repeat. He reminded himself that he'd gotten lucky, and that if Oracle weren't there he'd have been killed for sure.

The thought made their newly-caught teammate's Dusk Ball sit heavy in Monty's pocket. His speech, while apparently convincing, was basically a bluff. If the Houndour had decided to press the attack, it probably would've been able to take them both out. They had it now, though, and once Oracle got healed she wouldn't have any trouble keeping it in check.

Right, once she got healed. Monty rolled her Luxury Ball between his fingers as he set back down the path to the elusive Calanthe Town.

***** Like, Half an Hour Later *****

The thick Menhir Forest eventually gave way to rolling grassy hills, and the lamp-lit Calanthe Town streets appeared soon after. A stone canal was built around Mehir River, which meandered through the center of town, and brown-stone roads ran parallel to it. Calanthe was a quaint little town, a far cry from Lumiose's towering buildings and bustling streets, and it seemed like it was everything he hoped Geosenge would be; small, out of the way, and rarely visited.

Monty's frst priority was making it to the Pokémon Center, and when he arrived the nurse's eyes went wide with surprise. "Late night training, sir?" She asked skeptically, and Monty silently cursed his disheveled state. He briefly debated the merit of lying, but the truth shouldn't be too hard to believe.

"Unintentionally, yeah," the criminal replied as he reached the counter. "My partner and I were camping down Menhir Trail when we almost ended up lunch." Monty recounted the night's events, leaving out the part where he helped Oracle skewer the Houndoom, but Nurse Joy didn't seem too surprised by the story.

"You're not the first trainer to stumble in saying something similar," she said, her tone almost apologetic. She called for a Nurse Blissey, and when the rotund pink Pokémon (how many of these things were there?!) appeared with a cheer Nurse Joy asked it to, "Please take our friends here to the back." Nurse Blissey saluted and waddled off with the Balls, while Nurse Joy turned back to Monty.

"The festivities in Geosenge have been stirring up the Pokémon on Route 10," she explained in a tired voice. "With so many trainers on the Route, there's a lot more competition for wild Pokémon hunting for food." Monty's brow furrowed as he thought through the problem, and he asked, "And with wild Pokémon having less hunting opportunities..."

Nurse Joy grimaced and nodded. "Some of them have started targeting trainers in their camps. And to make matters worse-" She gestured to a nearby bulletin board. A WANTED poster was pinned to the center, portraying sketches of three men. "-it seems a team of poachers is operating on Route 10 as well."

"Taking advantage of the chaos?" Monty mused. With so many Pokémon being stirred up, it made sense that someone would swoop in to capitalize. Nurse Joy nodded to confirm his hypothesis. "We usually rely on the Cyllage City police force to help with this kind of thing," the pink-haired nurse continued, "But all they've done so far is send an officer out to take reports, and that was almost a week ago."

"No follow-up?" Monty asked incredulously. It didn't make much sense, since he had always been under the impression that poaching was a pretty serious crime. In fact, the harsh penalties for poaching were the whole reason the Old Guard didn't do it themselves, but just stuck to facilitating delivery.

"The wanted poster there is the follow-up," Nurse Joy corrected, but even she seemed like she hardly believed it. "They're hoping some righteous trainer will take care of it for them, I suppose." The Nurse gave him a sly look and asked, "I don't suppose you're the righteous type?"

Monty rolled his eyes as a cheeky grin sprouted across his lips. "Only when I want to be, beau," he said, prompting a laugh from the nurse.

"And when's that?" She asked amiably, leaning on the counter.

"Usually when there's une demoiselle comme toi in distress," Monty answered with a suave smile.

Nurse Joy rolled her eyes, and though her cheeks grew a little rosier than before, she retorted, "Maybe take a shower before you come save me, then." She pinched her nose facetiously, and Monty blushed with embarressment. He was suddenly a lot more conscious of his now-two-day-old outfit, but he tried to play it off.

"Pokémon training's a tough job-"
"Oh I'm sure-"
"-but I could use directions to a motel. And a boutique, preferably."

Nurse Joy relayed the directions, telling Monty about a small motel down the street and a boutique in their tiny shopping district. "Though the boutique's probably closed by now," she finished, but Monty figured he'd take his chances. He needed another change of clothes, ASAP.

Nurse Blissey reappeared in the doorway with a sheet of paper, and Nurse Joy took it from her with a "Thank you!" She read the sheet, explaining that it was a pre-screening on their damage processed through their Poke Balls, and she told Monty it would be about an hour before they'd be ready for pick up. "They'll be all right," she assured him, and Monty thanked her before leaving the Pokémon Center.

With an hour to kill, he might as well try and hit up the boutique and motel now.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto, Eveline

As the Barb Barrage was repelled by the Water Pulse, Ruination took the opportunity to use that time while Storm was distracted by that Barb Barrage to go in with a Poison Jab. When the Ice Shard came in, Ruination accepted that this was a fair enough trade, getting smacked with the several shards of ice as they continued to charge forward. Thankfully it was a low power move, so they didn't mind making the sacrifice for something much greater. With one motion, one of their spikes extended and jabbed Storm in the torso.

"That's the other thing... I trust my Pokémon enough to know what they're doing after I command their first move. If I wanted, I could walk off right now, get a coffee, and Ruination would battle all on its own with no orders needed... and would likely win since I don't have to tell them to stop."

Ezio Farello - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh

Ezio covered his eyes as the steam got blown in his face, Erebus' figure amidst the steam as she emitted smoke. The drawback of Blast Burn, it tired out the user to a point of being incapable of moving. It was a high risk move, but with a potential match-winning power. "Come on, Erebus, hang on. You just need to hang on." He said, hoping that Erebus could live a Surf and retaliatie, though he knew it was a fool's errand. That Starmie would probably end his partner with a single move.

Nicole Newman - June 10th - Route 3, Galar

"On it." Nicole simply stated, grabbing the camera and quickly setting it up to film the Gossifleur. "They don't look like Flying types, why do they ride the wind like one?" She asked, almost as if she took offense to it. She didn't, she was just very focused and confused, so she really couldn't care less about how she said things.

Montagne Khastil - Unranked - June 20 - Calanthe Town

As it so happened, Calanthe Town's shopping district happened to be in the same plaza as the Pokémon Center. Plaza was an...accurate description, if not a bit of an overstatement, and a bakery, a florist, a general store, the Pokémon Center, and another building formed a ring around a small fountain.

Monty was most interested in the final building, a green-brick structure with a sloped roof and flower planters in the front. Its sole defining feature was a wrought iron sign in the shape of a cartoon-burglar's mask, with the words "Stitchit Clothier" stamped into it. An oil lampost illumintated the front of the shop, and an old man sat at a small iron table beneath one of the front windows.

The old man smoked a cigarette, enjoying the cool night air as he stroked a fox-like Pokémon which perked up as Monty approached. The old man didn't say anything at first, studying Monty with wisened eyes, but when it became clear the chav was coming to his way he called out in a thick Galarian accent, "You lost, lad? Laundry's down the way." He gestured with his cigarette to a side street, then brought it back to his lips and took a long drag.

"Actually," the criminal said, "I was hoping to buy from this shop." The inside curtains were drawn and the lights were off, and Monty sucked his teeth and sighed; he must've missed them.

"I wouldn't wait," the old man commented. "They don't take much business these days." He took another drag from his cigarette, exhaling through his nose before continuing, "You don't look like you've got anywhere to be, though. Care to join me?"

Monty eyed the geezer skeptically. What for? Some conversation? Monty got plenty of that with old men when he was on the job. He did have some time to kill, though, especially with the Clothier closed. "Sure," the criminal answered, taking the other seat at the small table and accepting a cigarette the old man offered.

"We don't get many visitors your age these days," the old man said as he lit Monty's cigarette for him. "And I don't leave Calanthe half as often as they visit." What, was this guy about to give him his whole life story? Monty took a drag from the cigarette, mentally rolling his eyes at what he figured was the start of some rambling speech, but he didn't have much to do besides sit through it. The criminal exhaled the smoke, and hot damn had it been a while since he'd gotten that head rush! Michel's smokes weren't half as good as this Galarian's.

"Why's that?" Monty asked once his head rush died down a bit. "Doesn't seem like there's much going on here." They were the plaza's only occupants, and the younger man couldn't imagine there would be many folks in the middle of the day, either.

The old man smiled softly as he answered, "And that's bloody-well fine by me. When you get to my age you learn to slow down. Enjoy the peace and quiet, in a place where not many come to interrupt it." He patted the fox-like Pokémon's head, and it purred at the touch.

Monty gestured to it and asked, "That your partner?" He'd never seen it before, but it looked sort of like Michel's Vulpix.

"Aye, lad, this old girl's been wit' me fer a couple'a decades now," reminisced the old man, "Since ah skipped 'cross the pond from Galar. Figured I'd take Nickit here along for the journey."

"Why'd you leave?"

"Things got a little too loud for me." The old man took a final drag of his cigarette, flicking the ash into the ground and sticking the butt in an ash tray on the table. "I didn't catch you name, lad," he mentioned, sticking a hand out for a shake.

"Montagne," the younger man introduced, meeting the handshake. Something seemed to click in the Galarian's mind, a momentary twitch of his brow the only sign, and he introduced himself, too. "Calvin Clarke. Charmed to meetchu." Calvin broke the handshake and stood up, dumping his partner from his lap and rolling his shoulders a little.

"Let's crack on then, old girl," he said to the vulpine, and he looked at Monty inquistively and asked, "You daft, lad? Why ye still sittin'? Come in." Calvin opened the shop's front door, holding it for the young man as he put out his cigarette.

"So this is your shop," Monty muttered, silently cursing. He should've figured, who else would just be sitting out front in that barren plaza?

Calvin flicked the lights on, illuminating shelf-lined walls and a handful of scattered mannequins. The stock seemed to be mostly formal wear, with sport coats, full suits, slacks, and all manner of button downs and undershirts. Calvin's partner padded around Monty's feet, following him as he navigated around the sales floor.

"Do you make all of these clothes?" Monty asked, impressed by the sheer volume. The old man laughed though, and said, "I appreciate the credit, lad, but I only make the suits. Everything else is manufactured." Calvin moved to Monty, who was peering through stacks of t-shirts, and asked, "I assume you're not looking for something formal, though?"

The criminal shook his head. "Figures," Calvin said with a click-click-click of his tongue. "You young trainers never appreciate good fashion. It's always 'I want something I can run in!' or 'Do you carry hoodies?' It's a Clothier, if ye want hoodies go to the sodding PokeMart!" The old man gritted his teeth as Monty listened to his rant with some annoyance. What'd this guy think he was, some sort of clothing artist? He just needed a change of clothes, dude.

Calvin's Nickit jumped up on one of the waist-high display tables and rubbed her face against Monty's hip, clearly begging for pets. He indulged the little fox, and told Calvin, "I'm really just looking for something to wear while I'm out training."

Calvin scoffed, shook his head, and echoed, "'Somethin' to wear while yer out trainin'...I've got somethin' better than some joggers, lad." The old man gave him a knowing look, analyzing Monty's face with his shrewd eyes.

"That is, if you're interested in the OG brand."

The criminal balked. OG...who the fuck was this guy? Years of playing poker with Michel had given Monty one hell of a poker face, and he used it when he turned to the old man and asked, "The what?" Play dumb, maybe he was just hearing things.

"Thanks, love," Calvin said as he took something from Nickit's mouth. Calvin flipped it up, and with a start Monty realized it was his phone! He instinctually felt his pocket for the phone, but it was absent. The Nickit nicked it while he was petting it? "You don't see many of these, these days," Calvin commented as he inspected the device, "Especially from young'ins like you."

"Give that back," Monty growled, puffing his chest and stepping up to the old man. Calvin stood his ground, looking the younger man dead in the eyes. "What's the matter, lad? Worried I'll find out about somethin?" The Galarian extended the phone out, and when Monty snatched it back the old man said, "Careful, lad, wouldn't want to rough up one of yer clients eh?"

Monty went silent. 'One of his clients' wasn't something he'd heard before. Did he mean...

The Galarian burst out in laughter, clapping Monty on the shoulder with one of his ancient hands. "You should see yer face, lad! It ain't that serious." The criminal watched the clothier with wary eyes, not quite sure what was going on, and the old man picked up on it as he gestured toward the sales counter. "Let's head down to my workshop. You'll see fer yerself what I mean."

Tuesday, July 19 – Ogi City
Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Archipelago
Johto Region

It was pink and white and honestly...pretty derpy-looking; Esther would’ve called it a Shellos—since it resembled one greatly—except this was no Shellos, or...at least, it was nothing like the Shellos in Oblivia. The body and color were similar, sure, but that’s where the similarities began and ended; first off, it was a bright and piercing, neon pink a few several shades off from normal Shellos; second, its neck—by the Creation Trio—its neck was at least 10 ft long and composed 90% of its body. Esther had never seen a pokémon made of so much neck.

On closer inspection, it was using that neck to strip the berries off a branch overhead. Once it was done its neck began to truncate—the sight was a bit uncomfortable. However, now that it was back to normal? Esther recognized that the pokémon was indeed a Shellos, albeit a very vibrant one.

A psychic twinge from Pari brought a wry smile to Esther’s face.

“Hnnn, beggars can’t be choosers...I guess.”

The Oblivian stepped forward, catching Shellos’ attention. Was it...trembling?

Esther slowed and raised her arms, trying to show she wasn’t a threat.

“Would you like to join my team?”

The Shellos gave her a blank stare.

“Uhh...I have food?”

That did the trick, Shellos lurched forward and into the pokéball. That was that.

“Well then... once Desmond gets back, we’ll go meet up with the group.”

Monty was torn between interest and trepidation. He'd never heard of this Calvin Clarke, but the Galarian seemed to know him. Could he really be one of the Old Guard's clients? What business did they have with some random tailor in the middle of nowhere? Then again, maybe Clarke wasn't just some random tailor. This was fucking annoying; too many questions, with the answers waiting in what could be a trap.

Clarke motioned for Monty to follow, then maneuvered his way to the back of the sales counter. "Give me a hand, will ye?" Clarke called out, and Monty made his decision. He felt strangely naked without Oracle at his side, but the encounter with the Houndour horde had given the criminal a confidence boost; if he could handle that, he could handle some geezer.

Monty walked to Clarke, who had pulled a rug behind the counter aside to reveal a wooden trapdoor. "Workshop's down 'ere," the Galarian said, undoing a heavy iron latch. Nickit sat at the man's heels, both of them looking expectantly up at Monty, who grabbed the wrought iron handle and heaved up. The trapdoor swung open, and with a skeptical glance at the rickety wooden stairs leading down Monty said, "After you."

"Right, lad," Clarke responded. He started his descent into the dark basement, Nickit close behind and Monty farther back, and when the old man hit the floor he flipped a lightswitch. "Woah," the younger man whispered, surprised by what the light illuminated in the cobblestone basement.

An wide variety of pelts hung from the ceiling, each clearly coming from a different species of Pokémon; some were white and glossy, some where black and orange, and some were fluffier than others. A handful of half-worked pelts were scattered across the workbenches against the walls, others were half-sewn into sport coats and other garments draped over mannequin torsos.

So this was the why the workshop was hidden. Monty was impressed by the balls on his Galarian host; having even one of these pelts would likely land the old man in prison. "Like whatchu see, lad?" Clarke asked, standing next to his guest as they admired the workshop's contents.

"More surprised than anything," Monty replied. He felt one of the black-and-orange pelts, and the fur was strangely warm to the touch. The image of the Houndoom flashed through the criminal's mind, and he asked, "Is this-"

"A Houndoom's?" Clarke finished, "Aye, lad." The Galarian felt the pelt, too, and explained, "Some of 'em evolved a fireproof coat and skin. Makes for good protection against flames." He dropped his hand and crossed to the workbench, and Nickit jumped up and lay on one of the scattered coats. Both of them watched Monty with interested expressions, waiting for his reaction.

"Why show me this?" Monty asked finally. His trepidation was gone, but his questions still weren't quite answered.

"I recognized ye from a long ways back," Clarke explained. "I've got a contract with yer folks: I get pelt shipments, and ye get paid. A proper..." The Galarian stroked his snow-white beard thoughtfully. "....ten years back? Ye were in the truck when they dropped off the first shipment." Clarke chuckled and added, "But ye were a little tyke back then! Hardly recognized ye, mountain of a bloke ye are now. That's why I had the ol' girl nick yer phone." The little fox looked quite pleased with herself for a job well done. "The criminal types are the only ones who still use a flipper with all the fancier tech these days."

Monty hardly remembered the experience. It must have been right around the time he started tagging along on the low-stakes jobs, but he could vaguely picture going for the ride to a little town. It was plausible that it was a trip to Calanthe Town.

"That makes sense," the criminal admitted, "But I'm not exactly in the market for clothes like these."

Clarke huffed and waved a hand dismissively. "Ye will be soon enough," he said, "But I didn't bring ye down here to talk the clothing business." The Galarian crossed his arms, leaned forward on his stool and asked, "Ye hear word about poachers on Menhir Trail?"

Monty nodded an affirmative, and with a scowl Clarke continued, "They're damn bad fer business. I picked Calanthe because it was supposed to be quiet, but poachers in the area is inviting coppers to come sniffing around."

"So where do I come in?" Monty asked. He had a feeling he already knew, but he wanted to hear it from the old man.

"I want ye te deal wit' 'em a course!" Clarke exclaimed. "We can work out the payment after, but I need them poachers out of 'ere."

Some poacher poaching, eh? Monty thought it over, and there weren't many reasons not to accept. Cormier's gym badge deadline was fast approaching, but he'd need to get more training in with Houndour before they went to Santalune. Handling the poachers and training would likely go hand in hand, and it would be useful to have someone like Clarke as an ally. 'Ye will be soon enough.' The Galarian was probably right about that.

"Alright, Calvin," Monty said finally, reaching out to shake the man's hand. "I'll take care of your problem."

The Galarian beamed and returned the gesture. "Brilliant!"

Alright, she actually got an idea to how to carry all this diving equipment. Using the location in a message Esther sent her earlier, Naka paid extra for carry bags, putting each set of the diving gear in each bag until they had eight bags. Then, she sent out three of her Pokemon. In a flash of blue and white light, two large Pokemon - one grey and the other blue with orange gills - roared as they made their entrance, and the medium-sized one - beige and green - trilled and hopped about on one foot.

"I think I got it actually." Naka realized how light these bags were. "Oh?" She held herself up for a moment, waiting to see if Savannah would prove her wrong.

Kaden Miller - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh
Erebus didn't retaliate with her own attack so Kaden took the opportunity to continue, "Psychic and attack Erebus!" he called out to his Starmie. The red gem on the Mysterious pokemon glowed bright red and a telekinetic force was being pushed right at the Typhlosion, kicking up some speed at the force of the move. Not quite what they were used to doing with this particular move, but looked like their trainer had found themselves in another battle situation.

Today Kaden had done way more traditional battles in one day that he usually did for weeks, if not months. Well, suppose it's good to do other things every now and then, no?

Lara Brook - 10th of June - Route 3, Galar

Lara looked over to Nicole, slightly surprised but wasted no time to try and look for an answer, "O-oh. Well, um. Let me see..." she said, trying to scroll through her phone's dex app while Rotom eagerly took photos on their own, making sure to stay out of Nicole's way so they would not ruin the filming.

"Gossifleur travels long distances by riding the wind and by twisting its body it can control the direction it's flying," Lara read out loud, hoping this would serve as a good explanation for the bird keeper. The grass type pokemon seemed to be happily dancing with the wind as they sang a harmonious tune as they swirled in the gust.

Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - Battle field behind the Pokecenter, Eterna City, Sinnoh

Gwen was ready to celebrate her cooperation with Ozzy, but was caught off guard by Luz's theatrics. Luckily the young trainer understood quickly that the Espeon was just playing and overacting and she couldn't help but snicker a bit. "Good job Ozzy!" the blue haired girl called out in celebration with Deino seeming to do the same with a small victorious cry, pretty much unaware of any of the dramatics that his opponent was doing. His attention and other senses were still heightened from the Focus Energy, with his nostrils flaring to pinpoint Luz's location. Ron nor Luz were still attacking, but Gwen wasn't going to waste this opportunity. She knew that her opponent was way stronger, but that this was also not quite a propper battle as this was just to see how she and Ozzy would fare together.

"Alright, attack again!" the young trainer called out, expecting the Irate pokemon to do another tackle, but instead his mouth flared up with flames! Embers covered his teeth as the small Deino rushed to chomp down on her with a fiery bite.

"Oh, what?! I didn't know Deino knew.. uh, that move- That's Fire Fang, right?" Gwen said surprised after scrolling in her poketch. It was just what seemed to match what Ozzy was doing. Apparently it was an 'Egg move', interesting.

Ron Towers, June 16th, Eterna City.

"Whoa!" Ron called out, "Run Luz!"

The Espeon stopped running around in circles, looking around, trying to identify her trainer. This was the worst outcome though, as Luz felt the incoming heat and tried to move out of the way, but it wasn't enough. Ozzy got the end of her tail, causing Luz to yelp out loudly and start running away, dragging her opponent with her.

Ron sighed and shook his head, "Well there's something you don't see everyday." He snapped his fingers to try and get his Espeon's attention, "Luz, you're okay, just use Morning Sun!"

The Espeon kept running and swinging her tail until she got free. She stopped running and sat down to lick the tip of her tail while her body began to glow with a ray of sunshine began to glow around her.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

Storm cried out as the attack landed, but she stood her ground, gritting her teeth while doing so. Reina looked concerned for a bit, but quickly snapped out of it, pumping her fist into the air, "Water Pulse, can't dodge being up that close!".

The Lapras created another big sphere of water above her horn and shot it directly at her opponent.

~Aldon...~

Aldon quickly went over to look at the pictures, placing his thumb next to his chin, tilting his head 22 degrees and squinting his eyes. really taking time to examine the picture. The quality of the lighting. Whether or not his pokemon were blinking during the photo or not. Whether the breeze was blowing too hard or not. For a moment, Aldon looked like a professional photo critic.

Actually no. Aldon had no clue what he was doing, and then immidiatly made a large grin, "Huh... Not bad, not bad! I like it! Good picture! What do you think Skol. Skol?" Aldon asked.

Skol turned his eyes towards the picture then blinked two times within the course of thirty seconds.

"...Yep! The Skol seal of approval right there." Aldon said before walking over to his other pokémon. One by one, his pokemon lit up and began voicing their robotic and or prehistoric opinions. Aldon then went back over to Desmond.

"Maybe I can throw them in my imaginary scrap book! That or just start a real scrap book. Scrap book. For now, I think I'll slide them in between the pages of my research book, thanks!" Aldon said.

Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

Desmond watched as Aldon seemed to scan the set of Pictures he had offered him with a critical eye, or least what Desmond had presumed was a critical eye. With Aldon it had been a guess much as anything, as much like his partner Skol he had been something of an enigma which was far from a bad thing. Honestly among his current party he had found Aldon to be one of the easier guys to talk with.

Soon, Aldon shared the photos with all his mon as he seemed to approve, his team seemed to approve and he thanked him for the set, which if there was one thing that could light a spark in that condescending, sarcastic heart of Desmond it had been compliments of his photography as he smiled at Aldon.

"Glad you like them, free to do with as you wish, gonna go now see if I can find Esther's wild things." Desmond said, sighing a bit as she turned what should've been a simple photo session into an Easter egg hunt, but he had nothing to gain complaining over it. He moved into the area and began to look around for Esther and Gene's Pokemon, snapping whatever pics he could as Politoed and Kricketune seemed to follow along on the search.

Desmond worked quickly as he could, sooner he could get these pics soon he'd begin the path to Esther and they'd be able to regroup with everyone else.

Savannah

Savannah was still looking down at her fingers when Naka posed her question. Pokemon that can help carry whatever Esther asked them to get from this place? The wild girl didn't really have any candidate. However, that didn't mean she could help. "Hmm, I don't think my pokemon can help, but I can carry them." She replied casually. Before wasting another moment, Savannah picked up two sets of diving equipment, resting one of each shoulder. "Whoa, these things are heavier I thought."

Zap Zap proudly huffed his chest when Naka asked if any of Savannah's pokemon could help carry the rented diving gear. The small Shinx ran over to one of the sets and grabbed onto it with his teeth. Due to his small size, the electric type pokemon could only start dragging the equipment on teh floor as he moved towards the exit.

"Oh Zap Zap, hold on." Said Savannah when she noticed what her partner was attempting to do. The girl knelt down next to the Shinx "I don't think you should drag those." She continued before placing one of the two sets she was carrying above her head and taking the one Zap Zap attempted to carry on the now freed shoulder. This however, caused the Shinx to look at his partner with a unsatisfied glare.

Now balancing 3 sets of diving gear, the young woman glanced back towards Naka. "Should we get going? These things are a bit heavy and I don't want to accidentally drop them."

Much to Naka's surprise and amusement, Savannah helped carry three bags after her Shinx tried to help, making Naka chuckle. Aw, that was cute.

She put two bags on her Swampert, securing them with clips around the midsection of her Swampert. Then, she had her Aerodactyl carry a bag with each foot - making that four totaled bags carried among her Pokemon. Next, she gave a bag to her Ludicolo to carry on his back.

"Okay! Now, we go..." She trailed off, trying to figure out where the site would be from here. Finding the place in her mental map of confusing directions, she walked out of the rental diving gear shop, and made her way to the site, she called out and pointed to the direction where they were supposed to go. "Over there! Come on, Savannah." She said energetically, not even skipping a beat to leave the area.

She then rushed off, her Pokemon in tow. Once they arrived at the diving site, her Pokemon then set down all the bags they were carrying down and Naka returned them to her side aside from her Pichu. She then sent out two other Pokemon, a small white and blue fish that splashed about in the waters lackadaisically, and a medium-sized brown fish with sharp teeth and a spinning red-finned tail that zoomed about excitedly, a harness around his body as he looked about for a platform to pull.

"We won't be swimming across the water, Brute Tooth. We'll be diving."

Eyes alight with excitement, the two Water-Types splashed about happily, making all sorts of excited warbling and chirping noises as Naka prepared to wear her wetsuit. Taking off her camo jacket, she then took off her shirt and pants to reveal a two-piece light blue and dark blue camo bikini underneath. All her scars were viewable. A nasty circular scar on her stomach, and the long scar from her cheek down the side of her neck. Smatterings of other scars splayed out across her arms, legs, back, and chest, but she didn't seem to mind them showing. She fished her phone out of her jacket, setting the rest of her clothes inside the carry bag. She then sent Esther a message:

Got the stuff and at the diving site. Eight sets of gear. Don't leave me hangin', gurl~

Putting on a wetsuit over her bathing suit, she got her flippers on and awaited for her group to arrive. If they weren't going to arrive, oh well. That meant more adventuring for her.

She looked back at Savannah, smiling. "So, got any plans to get out of this dive? Heard there'd be treasure, but I'm more interested in what kinds of Pokemon we'll meet if the theories surrounding the place say they are protecting something.

Interactions: Ron Towers and Luz the Espeon (Hecotoro), Gwen Tucker and Ozzy the Deino (IDKWhatUserNameToDo)

The Flareon attempted to keep himself still, even as the Deino used Fire Fang and bit down on Luz's tail. He was glad he managed to keep himself still because she just healed back the damage that was taken. Still, that must've hurt. Glad she wasn't burned.

Naka grinned watching the two fight-er well... Mock fight, she guessed. It was a rather fun fight to watch nonetheless. Naka nodded, failing to realize Gwen likely didn't see that. "Yup, that's Fire Fang alright.

Apparently, the Espeon was a bit more sensitive than most. Interesting. She was freaking out over something that her Pichu had tanked before with less fuss. Well, 'tanked' wasn't the optimal word to use, it was from another baby Pokemon to a biological Baby Pokemon, but that was neither here nor there.

Of course, the sound Luz made caused the two PokeBalls to shake in unison, and two larger Pokemon came out in a blast of light. Beside a now deadpanning Naka was a large grey pterodactyl and a white furred monkey on fire.

Great.

Naka sighed and slapped her forehead, groaning as her Aerodactyl and Infernape made their cooing and screeching noises, respectively. Aero's was far more concerned sounding as he flapped his wings, while Infernape was cheering and punching the air. All the commotion beside her must've been disorienting as they one cheered them on to continue fighting while the other was hoping neither of them were going to seriously hurt one another. Then the two argued loudly with one another. She snapped, yelling at them. "They're both blind! They can't focus with you two being so loud!" Her fiery blue eyes had the Aerodactyl sighing and calming down, resting his entire body on the ground with his wings splayed out, while the Infernape got in her face to challenge her.

"Don't you even..." Naka growled, her Infernape chuckling nervously in his chimpish way and stepping back a bit, holding up his hands to surrender and as if to say 'it was just a joke'. "Joke my ass." She grumbled, her Flareon mean-mugging them but knew she handled it.

Naka waved her hand nonchalantly at the two trainers, though with her tone, it was likely from exhaustion of having to deal with her strong, yet borderline dysfunctional team. "Go on, don't mind us..."

Erebus was still recharging from the Blast Burn before she got launched backwards and sent into a tree, letting out a cry of pain before fainting. Ezio winced at the sound of his partner slamming into the tree, but knew it was inevitable. "Go get some rest, Erebus. You did incredibly well." The man said, smiling at the Typhlosion before grabbing another Pokéball. "It is up to you, Envelop! Giga Drain!"

A Cradily entered the field, swaying her tentacles which glowed green before extending energy beams towards Astraea, trying to drain the Starmie of its energy. "You did good, switching in a Water type against my Fire type, but types are not everything."

"I see, so they use the wind to travel." Nicole said, keeping her eye on the Grass types. "Sounds like a risky strategy, exposing themselves to Flying types to get around. If I was a Grass type, I would try and stay away from them or at least be able to dodge attacks, or even protect themselves. This seems like a risky move to me." The Bird Keeper said, analyzing the Pokémon she just met.

"Are they endangered by any chance?"

Montagne Khastil - Unranked - June 22 - Menhir Trail, Kalos

Just who did Monty think he was?!

To think he would recruit a teammate without her approval first, and to make matters worse he wanted an enemy with them! Not just that, but the only reason she couldn't protest when her trainer recruited the nosy Houndour was because it had contributed to nearly killing her! The thought made Oracle's skin crawl as she walked side-by-side with her trainer, and she made sure to make her displeasure known with a steady stream of her Pressure. That would show him!

Monty was indeed shown, begrudingly tolerating the increased weight in his steps as the trio walked down the dirt path out of Calanthe Town. Their previous day was spent in town getting their new teammate acclimated to them, which meant plenty of attention spent on the Houndour and clearly not enough on her. She'd kept the Pressure up since she'd gotten out of the Pokémon Center two nights ago, and Monty couldn't tell if she was her usual angry or jealous.

What a drama queen!

The Houndour in question, Chauffemagne as Monty had taken to calling him, was a curious little thing. From his first moments out of his Dusk Ball the pup was constantly working his nose, thoroughly investigating every little thing he came across; a far cry from the indifference or irritation that Oracle seemed to flip flop between.

In fact, the one thing Chauffemagne didn't turn his nose on was Oracle. If the Absol barely tolerated Monty's presence, and sometimes he thought that was a strong "barely", she outright refused to associate with her new teammate! Sure, they didn't exactly meet on great terms, but Monty was hoping Oracle would at least try to get along. Instead she hissed at the Houndour as soon as she saw him in the motel room, and when the Houndour got close she'd douse him with Pressure.

Monty had to admit it was actually pretty funny to watch someone else on the recieving end of the ability for once! He and Oracle both got a laugh out of Chauffemagne's animated reactions to the sensation; barking, shaking his head, and trying to wiggle out from under the phantom weight.

By the end of yesterday they'd more or less figured the dynamic out, which was mostly just Chauffemagne leaving his white-furred teammate well alone. The Houndour stuck pretty close to Monty, though. When they ventured out of the motel in Calanthe Town he padded along his trainer's left side, opposite Oracle, and he only occasionally darted off to investigate this thing or that with his powerful nose.

It was a damn good call to catch a Houndour of all things! Monty felt quite satisfied with himself and the extensive (ten minutes of) research he did on pack-oriented Pokémon. Chauffemagne's demeanor was far more...agreeable than Oracle's.

That was yesterday, though. Monty didn't mind giving the Pokémon a break after their near-death experience, but today they were on a job.

The poachers would be elusive, likely holed up in some sort of safehouse on Menhir Trail. He'd asked a few people in town if they'd seen the men from the wanted posters coming and going, but no one had; it seemed they weren't too mobile. It would make sense if they had some fortified location. A truck would attract too much attention just driving around in the wild, so they were most likely transporting their goods on foot.

So what should they do? Monty mulled it over as they wandered through Menhir's forest. There was too much Route to do a stakeout before he'd have to head back toward Lumiose. Maybe luring them out into the open? But how the hell was he supposed to do that?

"RUFF!" Chauffemagne barked, putting his nose to the ground and taking off ahead of Monty and Oracle.
"Wait, stop!" The trainer called, running after the Houndour while Oracle took her time catching up.

Monty chased after his new Pokémon, just barely keeping the speeding Houndour in view, but after a few seconds the surrounding forest started to seem...familiar. Monty soon broke into a small clearing, and his nose was immediately hit with a rancid smell; rotting meat.

They were back at their campsite from the other night. Chauffemagne was milling about, his nose to the ground, but Monty kept his firmly pinched as he examined the site. A pair of Fletchling settled in the branches above, watching the new arrivals warily as they waited to return to their meal on the ground, and Chauffemagne barked up at them from below.

"Easy, boy," Monty said to the Houndour. Chauffemagne acknowledged the statement, but kept himself firmly planted underneath the Fletchling. If they tried anything, he'd be ready!

What the hell happened to the Houndoom? Monty knelt down to examine the carcass, which had been completely stripped of its pelt. The meat was already brown and rotting, not holding up well against the hot June weather, and the criminal had to seriously focus on not retching the closer he got.

"A Pokémon wouldn't do this," he murmured, "And neither would some regular trainer." Was it the poachers? It was the logical explanation. The Houndoom's pelt hadn't been simply chewed away, but completely peeled off. The criminal looked around, but didn't see any other sign of human activity besides what he and Oracle left behind the other night.

Oracle finally made her way to the camp, and Monty hit her with the, "Took you long enough." She gave him an annoyed glare, but refused to come any closer. Clearly he wasn't the only one bothered by the smell, but Chauffemagne seemed unbothered. His trainer found it strange, since the Houndour's nose was probably even more sensitive than his and Oracle's.

Wait. Chauffemagne's nose!

"Chauffe, come here," Monty commanded. The Houndour obediently complied, padding over to his trainer and sitting down tongue-out. "What's up, buddy," his trainer said, scratching under the pup's chin as he knelt down to his level. "I need to put that nose of your's to work," he explained, "Do you think you can track where the rest of this Houndoom got taken?"

Monty gestured to the naked carcass, and Chauffemagne gave an affirmative bark before sniffing deeply around it. Using the Houndour might be a stretch, but it was the only lead Monty had for now. Between the motel and the new clothes from Clarke he was way too light in the pocket than he was comfortable with, and he needed the payment from this poacher-poaching job.

Chauffemagne picked his head up, sniffing the air before turning to face farther down Menhir Trail. "Got something, bud?" Monty asked, recieving an affirmative bark from the pup. Chauffemagne started walking with his nose to the ground, and Monty motioned to Oracle to follow along. It was time to turn these hunters into the hunted.

‘Gurl?’ That peculiar choice in vernacular gave Esther pause. ‘Was Nakano that kinda character?’ She sure didn’t look it... Oh well, just went to show—never judge a book by its cover. Esther shrugged; a grin split her lips as she picked up the lingo and thumbed up a response: ‘Yaaas Qween, we’re like totally there for sure! Like, we’ve been there since 10 minutes ago’ Esther looked it over, satisfied, and sent it off.

She hoped Desmond got his fill of photography because his time was up. The Oblivian hooked her fingers between her lips and pierced the air with a shrill whistle. That would let her pokémon know to return and hopefully, Desmond and Aldon could put two and two together. The last thing she needed to do was call Reina and Eveline; she started with Reina, switching to the call feature of her pokétch and dialing up.

Savannah

"You heard her, come on Zap Zap let's go." Seeing the other woman move out while beckoning her to follow, Savannah wasted no time trailing behind Naka as they made their way to the meetup location. Swallowing his disappointment for the time being, Zap Zap followed along the group.

The road they had taken was uneventful, however many looks were drawn as the two women and their pokemon ran down the street carrying a bunch of bags. After arriving, Savannah set the bags down before stretching out her back. They weren't as light as they looked and the wild woman got quite a workout running with 3 of them. This was the first time she really broke a sweat since she embarked on this journey. While she was doing this, Zap Zap had other matters on his mind. the small electric type moved over to the bags that his partner set down after arriving. He began pushing his paw against them curiously, he was never informed what these were was he?

When Naka posed her question of what Savannah was looking to get out of this dive, the young woman stood still for a few seconds. She stood and stared at Naka, a blank smile on her face. Finally she spoke up. "What's a dive?"

Date: July 19 (26yo)
Location: Ogi City, Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Archipelago, Johto
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Mudster the Swampert, Iwa the Wishiwashi, Ludwig the Ludicolo, Aero the Aerodactyl, Brute Tooth the Barraskewda

Interactions: Savannah and Zap Zap the Shinx (Grand Master Koop), Esther (kyuukestu)

Getting a buzz from her phone, Naka opened it to see an even more hilarious response from Esther. Ahh, she knew how to get her amusement. It was amusing enough to get a chuckle out of her. She sent one back, grinning like a madwoman with her scuba gear on. 'Pffff, we already here and we ain't seen you. We been here 60 minutes ago.' She sent it back to her, then looked up when Savannah seemed confused. Naka noticed Savannah's Shinx get curious about the bags, but the one question she wasn't expecting was for the wild girl to ask what a dive was.

Oh, poor thing. Naka nearly laughed. She had to hold her hand up to her lips to hide the guilty smile. "Ahh, a dive." She pointed at the water. "It's an action one does when they jump in a deep body of water. To get through water, it's called swimming. Like fish, but we obviously have to swim in a different way than my Wishiwashi and Barraskewda." She made mention of the fish she sent out in shore's waters and the two greeted Savannah with chirps and warbles, before splashing about happily.

She then looked to the Shinx and knelt beside a bag, opening it up for the Shinx to look inside. She even grabbed some items for Shinx (and by extension, Savannah) to see and understand what they were for. "This bag is holding stuff we'll be needing to swim better. These goggles are to shield our eyes from water and allow us to see better, as well as prevent water from getting into our noses with this attached nose guard. Then we have flippers to help us swim. Then this wetsuit gives some bits of protection from the water's temperature and some Pokemon attacks. They're a little tight fitting though, so your human doesn't need to wear them. These little gadgets-" She pulled out a small device that looked like a metal mustache. "We put these on our mouths and breathe the water, which turns the water into air for us to breathe. They're called aqua-breathers." She demonstrated this by sealing her lips over the aqua-breather and breathed in. A light shone, but it quickly turned off when there was no water to convert. She had a funny idea and pursed her lips enough to set the aqua-breather on her curled upper lip, really making it look like she had some scif-fi mustache. Giggling, she then wiped it on her wetsuit and set it back in the bag.

Standing up and looking at Savannah, she noticed something wild about her. Hm... "You don't seem to know many things for your age. You a wild girl? Living with Pokemon isn't exactly the most common, but I've seen it enough where it isn't too rare for me to assume. I'm sorry if I'm a bit forward, but if it's knowledge you need, don't be afraid to ask. I love teaching people." She gave Savannah a cheery smile, all too happy to help.

Nakano Saito

Date: June 15 (26yo); 1 Month prior
Location: Solaceon Town, Sinnoh
Pokemon Team: Chu the Pichu, Tochi the Parasect, Fluffy the Flareon, Aero the Aerodactyl, Yuki the Froslass, Hattie the Hatterene

For Ezio Farello (DarkHydraT)

Early morning, like 4 am early, Naka had taken a break from her research in Eterna Forest to follow a strange lead to a Ghost-Type in the ruins of Solaceon Town. Horrifying shrieking can be heard in its depths, and people were thinking it was some rogue Mismagius. Because the ruins were home to just Unown as far as anyone was aware of, having a powerful Ghost-Type near a relaxed, tiny village and within ruins of study had people wary. Instead of the carefree air people were trying to maintain, there was a sense of unknown foreboding. Still, the inhabitants did their best to ignore it, the shrieking really only happening during the night or when people get near the ruins (likely because nobody could hear it outside of the entrance, Naka surmised).

Still, it was interest enough for Nakano to make her way there. Her Pichu sat on her head, while the woman garbed in her camo jacket and outdoors cargo pants carrying a brown floral backpack full with stuff made her way around Solaceon Town to get as much information about the ruins from the miners, explorers, and any other person who happened to be near the ruins when they heard the screaming. By her estimates and from others' testimony, this screaming happened a few days ago. A woman went in, never returned, and now there's horrific screaming or what sounded like music and singing happening within the depths, to which rumor had it that the Mismagius scared the woman off and they never saw her again. Or worse, if they let their imaginations play into it.

Still, all this excitement and rumor-milling had Naka hungry. Her Pichu laid across her hair, about to doze off from lack of food. Since it was now nearing noon, they should probably eat. Going to one of the small cafes near the Pokemon Nursery, Naka spent the morning there relaxing and having her mixed research and battle team eat and chitter amongst themselves before she had to go into the ruins.

Hopefully, no one stopped her.

Snap!

Desmond had managed to venture through the chaotic "path" that Esther's mon seemed to move into, mumbling some incomprehensible curses about the needleless hassle she decided to turn this photo session into. Not helped that whenever he or one of his companions spotted one of Esther's Pokemon, he was startled a bit at their sudden appearance though this had been his own issue but it just compounded things.

"Always a pain..."

However, in spite of it all, Desmond had to admit he got some good natural shots and it was nice, even in the chaotic way she had gone about it, to highlight each of her mon individually for these photos and as he took his last pair of pictures his path seemed to led him to Esther who let out a whistle which seemed to be her recalling her team.

"Poli!" Politoed cried out, as it waved happily to Esther and others who seemed to be gathering to the meet up spot as his Kricketune also seemed to be happy and let out a gentle tune. Desmond walked over to Esther and had a set of photos to presneted to her.

"Made it annoying, but got some pretty good shots. I hope they are to your liking." Desmond said, having already put his copies into his catalogue while he presented Esther with some photos of her own mon for herself.

Esther narrowed her eyes. ‘Annoying?’ The balls on this guy! After she’d gone to length to spice up his photo shoot—fine! And a big harrumph to him too! Esther was many things, but a pest was not one of them. Her livelier efforts were clearly unwelcomed and unappreciated, so she would impose them no more.

When she received the photographs, she flashed a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Thanks.” She was decidedly more curt. “Naka called; it’s time to go fetch the rest.”

Her pokémon had long since returned to her side and the call she’d made to Reina had gone straight to voicemail. It looked like before they went diving, they’d need to fetch Reina and likely Eveline as well. Luckily, Pariparisithea’s telepathic net was good for more than just finding pokémon to join her team.

As Esther led the group back to Ogi City she get a thought out for Reina’s psionic vibe and sure enough, a familiar psyche (that wasn’t quite the word for it, but how else could you really describe the vague and ephemeral sensation of brushing against someone’s mind?) registered somewhere within the city. While Pari couldn’t telepathically sense the geography or tell Esther exactly where Reina was, the. dream eater could point her in the correct direction. Once Esther had her bearings, she wove through the city streets in short order and the entire group soon arrived on a battlefield where, lucky them, both their ‘missing’ members were engrossed in battle.

Esther rolled her eyes. Battles were fun sure, but she sure hoped Reina had booked their rooms. If they had to sleep out in the woods because Reina forgot then...they’d have words... not that the Oblivian particularly minded sleeping out.

“Chop-chop you two, we’ve got an appointment we should’ve been at 10 minutes ago!”

And speaking of 10 minutes ago, she quickly paused to thumb up a response to Naka: ‘Nu-Uh! We were in the BOAT 60 mins ago, check again girlfriend—we’re like, totally there.’

She punched send and looked up to see Reina and Eveline still present and not magically at the beach.

“What are you still doing here!? We were supposed to be at the beach 30 minutes ago!”

With a need for speed and just the tool to satisfy, Esther clipped her roller skates onto her shoes and flashed the others a crafty grin. “I’ll race ya—lastonetherehastobuyseveryone’sdinnerbyyeee!”

Of course, after leaving the garbled ‘penalty’ behind, the goth wasted no time and took off down the street.

Desmond did little more than roll his eyes at the humph, needless to say they had disagreements about what counted as "spicing up" a photo session but that had been irrelevant. Esther liked her set of photos which mattered the most and they could move along to rejoin the wider group so he had little to complain over.

"Alright, sounds good to me." Desmond mused as he returned his Politoed and Kricketune for the walk back as he seemed prepared for the trip back to the others. They marched back to Ogi City as Esther seemed to have a spring in her step, likely she was musing over whether others in their groups had done their jobs. While Desmond himself cared less of the specifics, he simply hoped that Reina or whoever in charge of getting a place to sleep at held their end of the arrangement.

Not that Desmond had not been prepared to camp out if needed, but this was a situation where it should've been unneeded.

"Wasn't aware someone had a Beedrill up her butt." Desmond muttered to Esther but had worked to keep pace all the same, if nothing else his journey thus far had improved his cardio and he dared say made him a bit faster than before he left on his trip. Eventually, they saw what seemed to be Reina and Eveline who seemed to have not moved from location and had not been at the beach as agreed upon which Esther seemed livid towards.

Then she dashed off on roller skates, racing to the beach as Desmond pinched the bridge of his nose. "Always a pain..." However, he moved on to the sand quickly as he could as he had already paid for someone's lunch on this trip and was not about to do it again. Yes he made that out of her rapid mumbles, as he focused on getting to the beach.

July 19, Tuesday - Yellow Rock Isle, Johto. Reina, current rank, 34,107

"Storm, return!" Reina called out, upon hearing Esther yapping out instructions, even though the red headed was right. "Sorry, we can continue tomorrow!" She called out to Evaline.

Diva let out a big sigh of relief, if Reina remained longer as King of the Hill or whatever, she would eventually have to battle. Esther for now was in Diva's good side, for now, she was still a rival to her bond with Reina. "Come on Diva!" Reina called out as she started jogging after Esther.

The Metzli native had to stop to pick up her Clefairy, she wasn't about to pay lunch for everyone, not after booking the- she forgot to book the rooms! "Rotom!" Reina called out in between breaths, "Book, rooms, for everyone, hotel we saw!"

The Rotom phone emerged from Reina's pocket, floating effortlessly despite Reina sprinting down the sidewalk. "Bzz-checking...-bzzt."

Reina kept running, she could still see Esther's hair up front, but as long as nobody else was up there with her, she wasn't going to be last. Then again, who else could pay? The naked girl? Gene? Evaline? They didn't have money!

"Bzzz- There's only two rooms left, checked the area but everything else is booked-"

"Get those rooms!"

"Bzzt- but sir, what about our troops?-bzzt"

"Just, DO IT!" Reina called out as she finally reached her destination, placing her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

"Bzzt- rooms have been booked for tonight, including complementary breakfast and two beds-bzzt" The phone buzzed and returned to Reina's pocket.

"Hey..." Reina called out to Esther, straightening herself up, "I got the rooms." She smiled while giving Esther a thumbs up.

Desmond moved at a moderate pace, quickly but so long as he was ahead of at least one or two people he avoided being last which was more what he had been concerned with. As he drew to the beach and Esther, he noticed Reina who seemed to be dashing like a mad Rapidash behind Esther as she seemed to cut the battle she was having a bit early.

Soon enough, Desmond arrived after as he just caught the tail end of Reina who claimed to have gotten rooms which Desmond raised a slight eyebrow as he caught his breathe. Seemed to him she was a bit busy battling to manage that, but perhaps she had been responsible and had done the arrangement on a Rotom device before the battle. Desmond just hoped this had not been something she scrambled to do at the last minute.

"Well...that's a bit of a cheerful note. How many rooms?" Desmond asked Reina as he arrived decidedly third to this little beach meet up. More importantly, he avoided being last so he had no obligation to pay for lunch. The little victories.

Clip on roller skates were perhaps, no, most definitely the best invention to have emerged from a Kalosian mind. Not to say they didn’t have other good inventions, like the Holocaster; but, the holocaster wouldn’t let her hurtle down streets at the speed of fun, and if she couldn’t do that, then what was even the point? Esther was well ahead of her friends and with the beach-front coming into view, she was bound to win both the race and a free lunch. All she needed to do was stick a stylish landing and...and...uh—oh dear, what was her plan to stop again? Hmmm, 404, should’ve known. Drats. Being an island girl Esther knew that sand was no soft cushion, if she landed in that it’d shred her skin to bits.

Well, new plan! Rather, new old plan!

“Pyrrha, 『Protect』!”

Esther scrambled to catch her partner as she zipped out of her pokéball. Then the Oblivian hopped—a neat skater trick she’d picked up in Kalos—and a spherical green shield snapped into place around her. The goth-dragon pair was one metric wrecking ball, hurling chaotically across the sand as the surrounding beachgoers gaped in shock or wondered if they should start running. For her part, Esther had one last step in her flawless plan— “Naaaaaakaaaaaaa, CAAAATCH MeeeeEEEEEE!”

"Um, two." Reina replied to Desmond with a bright smile, "That's all they had left. But they each have two beds, so we should be fine." She looked around a bit and then tilted her head, "Wasn't Gene with you guys? You didn't leave her with the Slowpoke guy, did you?".

One lost look around the beach and she shrugged, "Well she has two Pokemon now, she should be fine. Hey Desmond, when are we gonna have an adventure together? I feel we would be good friends."

Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

As Desmond arrived and waited/heard over Reina's answers, his eyes scanned over as Esther seemed to get ahead of herself and had trouble slowing down on her skates, to make the situation more amusing it appeared her "plan" was to use a Protect like it had been a railing to lean off of as she sailed in the air and cried out for Naka to catch her. Desmond blinked a bit as if he had not been sure what he saw was real, but once it seemed confirmed he reacted with the level-headed maturity one expected out of him.

He had a good laugh.

Once he recovered, he overheard Reina as she mentioned getting 2 rooms with 2 beds each. He sighed, not preferred but he suppose it had been better than nothing. "Suppose we'll have to map up who shares with who."

On the topic of Gene he raised an eyebrow, that was the...kid right? He shrugged. "Last I saw Gene was with the group, might be back with Aldon...and hey, could be in worse hands." Desmond replied to Reina though he then overheard her talk of some "adventure" with him and how they could become friends as he seemed to have a sweat drop.

"Let's take it one step at a time, "friend" is a strong step..." Desmond said back as he had not been the type to open up like that with others so bluntly...but he had not dismissed the possibility either, which had been a step for him. However Politoed released itself and seemed happy to take the offer. "Poli!" It capped to Reina.

"Gah! D-damn it for the millionth time!" Desmond cursed at his partner.

"Hey Politoad agrees!" Reina clapped her hands along with the water type before turning her attention back to Desmond, "Okay, what's before friends? Buddies, that could work. Oh, want to be diving buddies? I'm a good swimmer, you can ask my Swampert." She stopped to catch her breath and slowed down a bit, "Sorry, I'm a little excited to go diving. Have you ever done it before?".

Diva shook violently in her Pokeball, another friend?! These humans kept getting in her way, it was outrageous! In protest, she was going to remain in her Pokeball, make Reina miss her and she won't come out!

Montagne Khastil - Unranked - June 22 - Menhir Trail, Kalos

Chauffemagne tore through the Menhir Forest, his little legs pounding the grass as he followed the Houndoom pelt's scent. Monty stuck as close behind as he could, huffing and puffing from the extended cardio, but Oracle didn't seem to be having much trouble keeping up.

She ran side-by-side with her trainer, looking up at him quizzically when he would take a gasping breath. Could he really not keep up with so slow a pace?

He'd need to start training cardio at this rate. The criminal was sweating in the June heat, and his heavy clothes and heavier backpack weren't doing him any favors. Couldn't the Houndour slow down a little?! If they were going into the belly of the beast, Monty would rather get there without needing a five minute time-out to catch his breath.

Chauffemagne's chase led them to the foot of the mountains which Cyllage City was built into, but as they approached the sheer cliffs he slowed to a walk. The Houndour turned to his teammates and barked at them, presumably to keep up, then dashed forward again. Monty and Oracle took their time catching up, sharing skeptical looks. It didn't look like they were rolling up on a hideout. Maybe putting his faith in a fresh capture was asking too much.

The trio were met with a grisly sight when the arrived at the sheer cliff face. A battle clearly took place recently, leaving a hole blasted out of the base of the cliff and...something's body slumped on the ground. The carcass was left the same as the Houndoom's at the campsite; completely naked. This was the poachers' work, no doubt about it.

"Stay on guard, you two," Monty ordered, his head on a swivel searching for lookouts. The blood around the carcass looked fairly fresh, and the meat hadn't started rotting yet; their quarry should still be closeby. "And try to keep quie-"

"AROOOOOOO!" Chauffemagne howled as he bounded toward the carcass, the pup's wailing cry surprisingly broken-hearted. If there was one language that translated perfectly between species, it was grief. Chauffe must've known that Pokémon, but it didn't look the same as the Houndoom. It was much smaller, with a squatter body and shorter limbs.

Monty and Oracle watched in silence as their teammate mourned beside the carcass, whining and nosing it as if trying to urge it to get back up. It was a sad sight, and the trainer didn't quite know what to do. Should he intervene? How would he even go about consoling a Pokémon? He looked to Oracle for guidance, but she wasn't looking at him.

The Absol's red eyes were fixed on Chauffemagne, and for the first time she wasn't glaring at the little pup. Oracle walked up to the grieving pup, and stood by his side for a few seconds before purring loudly. Chauffemagne looked up at her with doleful eyes, and she down at him with an understanding gaze. The Absol didn't just offer her condolences, though. She also offered a reminder.

What right did the little Houndour have to mourn this Pokémon, when her killer was on the loose? Oracle's Pressure flared, and her understanding gaze flipped to contempt. What right did he have to grieve when the Pokémon was not avenged?! Who did he think he was?! Some commoner unable to shed blood, whose only option was to shed tears?!

The Houndour growled up at his irate teammate, his orange chest puffed up at the challenge, but Oracle didn't back down. She loomed over the pup, her fur ruffling as even more Pressure poured off of her. Chauffemagne was not some common Houndour. He was a Houndour of her team, the first to join the Queen's Court, and he would conduct himself in a manner befitting the team they would become; the unquestioned most powerful in the region.

She glared down at the pathetic little pup. May he remember this feeling of weakness, may the helplessness of being unable to defend someone he so cared for be etched into his mind, and let it be the last time he ever felt it. She would not tolerate such a brazen admission of failure and weakness on her team again.

While Oracle scolded Chauffemagne, Monty investigated the blown-out hole in the cliff. He crouched down, taking note of several branching tunnels at the back of the hole, and combined with the naked carcass he started getting a clearer picture. This hole must've started as the Pokémon's den, and the poachers blew a bigger hole in the front to draw it out.

But all this for one Pokémon? It didn't make sense to the criminal. They were leaving some pretty clear evidence behind with this hole, even if the other wild Pokémon around the area would probably get to the carcass before it was discovered. Unless it was common enough for Pokémon to break into their prey's dens like this?

Whatever the reason was, and no matter how little he really knew about wild Pokémon's behavior, Monty knew criminal behavior. They probably wouldn't waste time breaking into a single Pokémon's den when there were so many just running around, unless they weren't just after a single Pokémon. He scanned the surrounding area again, but he only spotted the single carcass. So what was so special about it?

The criminal crouched down again, examing the den more closely. Sunlight lit it up well enough to see pretty far into the tunnels, at least two of them running farther back into the shadows. He looked at Oracle, then the carcass, then back at the den, and it finally clicked!

They must have been after the Pokémon's babies! By Xerneas he was fucking smart! Monty slammed a fist down into his palm as though visually "cracking the code", and he turned back to his team with a triumphant expression.

Monty didn't understand what Oracle was communicating to the suddenly grief-stricken Houndour, but when Chauffemange ceased his whining and rose to his paws it was clear whatever she said got through. A fire burned behind Chauffemagne's eyes, and he fiercely snarled a reply to his teammate. The Absol seemed to approve of whatever he said, and she alleviate her Pressure.

At least they were finally getting along? The criminal missed most of the spectacle, but it seemed to have unfolded for the better.

"Alright! I've got a better picture of what we're walking in to," Monty announced, and both of his Pokémon gave him a look like he was interrupting something. Chauffemagne's dropped almost instantly and he bounded over to his trainer's side, while Oracle stayed where she was and rolled her red eyes.

"I'm sorry I don't really get what's going on with you, buddy," Monty apologized to his Houndour, crouching down to scratch him behind the ears. "But we've gotta be close to the poachers who did this. Do you think you can track that Pokémon's pelt?"

The fire behind Chauffemagne's eyes blazed at the request. The pup barked affirmatively, and Monty grinned. "Alright, then. Let's get you some revenge."

Like, a few minutes later I guess?

The trio heard the poachers before they saw them. So much for professional discretion. If Michel heard Monty making the kind of racket these poachers were, he'd probably hit him with a back hand. Monty gave a hushed command to Chauffemagne to, "Hold up!", and the trainer crouched low as his listened to their targets.

The first thing they heard was a harsh grating sound, like metal scraping against stone. Monty took the lead as the trio inched closer, and he motioned for his Pokémon to stay low and quiet. The criminal wanted the element of surprise.

They got a little closer and another sound greeted their ears; crying. The sound of a Pokémon's wailing echoed off the walls of the tight mountain pass which Chauffemagne tracked the scent up, and to Monty it sounded an awful lot like the Houndour's mourning whines. Were those the skinned Pokémon's babies?

The trainer glanced back at his team and noticed Chauffemagne growing restless. The Houndour's mouth had contorted in a silent snarl, and his ears flickered with every each consecutive wail. "We're almost there, Chauffe," Monty whispered, "Just keep it together."

The trio kept creeping forward, and the next sound they heard was a gruff shout. Monty could just barely make it out, but he figured it was probably "SHUT THE HELL UP!"

They were met with a turn in the ravine, and Monty peeked his head around to see what they were getting themselves into. The turn opened right up into a sort of divot in the mountain, with a small but clearly lived-in camp sitting at the center of the bowl. A red and gray Pokémon sprouting numerous blades sat in the camp next to one of the poachers, presumably its trainer.

The poacher's back was turned to the divot's entrance, and he seemed to be working at a fold-out table under a tent. Quick hands made short work of...whatever he was working on, and the poacher picked up his handiwork to admire; some sort of yellow pelt hung from his hands. He showed it to his blade-covered companion, who nodded its head in approval before going back to scraping a stone along its blades. So that was the source of the grating sound.

But the wailing? Monty scanned what he could of the divot, and spotted another poacher toward the back. He paced back and forth in front of a large cage, the source of the wailing presumably, and he seemed pissed off with the noise.

The situation was almost too perfect. They had the element of surprise, and their opponents both had their backs to them. Still, there was plenty of distance they'd have to cover before they could actually fighting. Monty felt his blood start to rise, his body anticipating a battle, but his brain wanted more time to think it through.

His brain didn't have time, though. The red and black Pokémon's eyes suddenly snapped up, and it let out a harsh screech that distorted the air in front of it. Fuck. This was about to get waaay more complicated than it should be.

Before Monty could take a step forward, a flurry of black light flashed by him. If her trainer wouldn't take the initiative, Oracle would herself. All this skulking around was beneath her, anyway! The Absol's eyes fell on her opponent as she shot forward from the crevice, aiming to Sucker Punch the red and gray Pokémon.

It was ready for her, though, and it brought up its hand-blades to block as its eyes lit up blue. Sparks flew as Oracle's horn clashed with the hard steel, and her opponent had the nerve to push her back with an upwards cross-cut. She used her opponent's push to get some backward distance, taking a quick glance back the way she came to see if her comrades were brining up the rear.

She spotted Monty sprinting all out toward her with Chauffemagne already ahead of him, and the trainer slashed an arm at her and shouted, "DETECT!"

Detect what? Her opponent was-

A yellow-green light flashed from the corner of Oracle's vision, and she channeled the pre-cognitive power of Detect just before her opponentfuriously cut into her. She swung her horn in a brutal arc, knocking away the steel-hard Pokémon's attack. It jumped to her before she could even land?!

Both Pokémon landed at the same time, and Oracle activated her Pressure in a show of strength. The Pawniard sagged a little, but its steely gaze was unwavering. It would be a tougher opponent than Oracle thought.

Monty and Chauffemagne had opponents of their own to manage, though. The poacher at the tent watched the clashing Pokémon in a stupor, as though stunned that something had the gall to attack their camp in the first place, but by the time Monty was halfway to him he snapped out of it.

"Come on!" The poacher snarled in Kalosian, brandishing a long knife in one hand. Monty's blood boiled at the sight of the knife, but rage didn't overtake him like it had in the fight with the Unovan. He was calm again, like during the Houndoom fight, and as he reached the tent time seemed to slow. There was another table in front of the poacher, and the man was slightly turned like he expected Monty to go around it.

He wouldn't then! Monty leapt forward, bringing his legs up in front of him as he slid across the plastic surface, and he slammed his feet into the poacher's chest. The man let out a grunt as he hit the back table, but Monty wasn't done with him.

The knife was the biggest threat. Monty hit the ground running and checked a shoulder into the poacher's chest, shooting a hand out to catch his right wrist and control the knife.

"UGH!" The poacher grunted when Monty hit him. His grip on the knife loosened, and Monty swiped his wrist-controlling hand down to knock it from his grasp. It flew down and stuck in the dirt, but the evidently the poacher didn't need it. The man uppercutted Monty, stunning him, and tackled him to the ground.

Both men hit the grass in a flurry of limbs, but Monty had been fighting people bigger than him since he was a kid. The ground was his element! The poacher was on top of him, but when he threw a punch down at Monty the younger man deflected and threw a punch of his own. It connected with the poacher's jaw with a crunch, and the older man instinctually brought a hand up to his face as he yelled in pain.

Monty wasn't alone in this fight, though, and Chauffemagne LEAPT! up with black-glowing jaws and BIT! down on the poacher's shoulder. The pup pulled the man off his trainer, thrashing at his shoulder furiously, and Monty scrambled back to his feet to re-engage the first poacher.

Wait. The first poacher. Where was the oth-

SPLAT!

A tentacle SLAPPED! Monty across the face, sending the young man spinning down into one of the tables. What the fuck was that?! He was doubled over the plastic table, but before he knew it was he FLIPPED! upside down and sent careening into the dirt. A tentacle detached itself from his ankle, and the stunned criminal looked up to see a figure looming over him from atop it.

The Pokémon's bell-shaped body was a light brown, and a pair of noodle-like limbs sprouted from underneath it. It wiggled the noodle-y tentacles at the criminal, and what would have been comical in any other situation couldn't have been more menacing now.

"What the fuck are yo-" Monty's reasonable question was cut off as the Toedscool jumped on top of him, wrapping one of its noodles around his throat and slapping him across the face with the other. The noodles were stronger than they looked, and after a couple SLAPS! Monty was seeing stars.

"Chauffe!" He gasped, clutching at the tentacles around his throat, and the Houndour abandoned his assault on the poacher to come to his rescue. The Houndour sent an Ember flying into the Toedscool's back, loosening its grip enough for Monty to suck in a gasping breath, and followed up with a << Bite >> to its other appendage.

Chauffemagne pivoted when he hit the ground, wrenching the Toedscool off of his trainer and sending it flying a few yards away. The pup placed himself between the Woodear Pokémon and his dazed trainer, << Roaring >> a challenge. The Toedscool took a step back, but shook violently before shooting a Supersonic pulse at Chauffemagne. The Houndour dodged, snarling a dare to come closer, and Monty regained his composure enough to take control of the battle.

"Use Smog!" Monty commanded. Chauffemagne obeyed, launching a cloud a purple smoke, and the Toedscool answered with a << Mud Slap >>. The mud cut straight through the cloud, dispelling it as it sprinted toward Chauffemagne with a strangely funny slapping of its tentacles.

"Ember!" Monty called, and a ball of flame intercepted the incoming Toedscool. It let out a cry, and smoke poured from Chauffemagne's nose at the sound. Fire burned in its eyes, and it shot another Ember, then another at the Toedscool. The brown-bell was quickly overwhelmed, letting out a pained gurgle as it fell to the ground.

That was one Pokémon taken care of. Three opponents still remained though, and Monty turned around just in time to see the second poacher jumping on top of him. The man's knees fell onto Monty's arms, pinning them, and the criminal's vision tinted red when he saw the raised knife in the man's hand.

Shit, he couldn't block! "No last words?" Monty asked before the knife was plunged. The poacher furrowed his brow at the question, confused by the absurdity of the question. It was just enough of a pause for Chauffemagne to take action, though, and a ball of Ember engulfed the poacher's face.

The man screamed as he rolled off of Monty, frantically trying to put out his now-flaming hair and beard, and the younger criminal popped to his feet. He was ready to keep up the fight, but both poachers seemed to have lost their spirit. The first was a moaning mess under the tent, and the second fell silent after only a few seconds.

That left only one. How was Oracle faring? Monty looked over to his partner, who was in the middle of her final clash with the Pawniard. It had proved to be a strong opponent, but the peon couldn't hope to match her might. Night Slash met Metal Claw, and with a loud CLANG! both Pokémon dashed past the other.

A glint in the sky caught Monty's eye, and he tracked it as it fell to earth. The Pawniard's snapped facial blade sunk in the dirt, and the steel type fell forward at the same time. Oracle looked quite pleased with herself as she met Monty's gaze, and he let out a sigh of relief as he sunk to the ground himself.

Time to get paid.

Kaden Miller - June 14th - Grand Lake Hotel, Sinnoh
Kaden grimaced as well as Erebus was slammed into a tree. Just another reason why he wasn't really a fan of battling. The coordinator focused back onto the battle field when Ezio put out a new pokemon onto the field. A Cradily.. Well, not a good matchup seeing that one of Starmie's same-type attacks were rendered useless, but he had some other tricks up his sleeve.

The start already proved itself to not go all too well with the Barnacle pokemon using Giga Drain. A green aura surrounded Astraea with their light in their gem flickering erratically as they stiffened up.

"Retaliate with an Ice beam!" Kaden called out, wanting to disrupt the Cradily from draining Astraea from all of their energy. A light blue energy charged up by the Mysterious pokemon's core with it's back part spinning to help it charge up the attack before launching a frigid beam of frost at the Grass-Rock type.

Lara Brook - 10th of June - Route 3, Galar

"Ah, let me see here.. Hm, they are only in Galar and have a few habitats, but they seem to be very common in those places," Lara explained and as she read more information on the grass type. She then looked up from the screen at the pokemon dancing in the air when another pokemon made an appearance. It looked to be another grass pokemon with white fluff on its head and floated together with the Gossifleur and looked to take the lead where the group of pokemon would go.

"Oh, wow," Lara said simply as she marveled at the wild pokemon. Oh, how fun it would be if she could just spend her days taking pictures of wild pokemon like this.. She then grabbed her camera to snap some pictures of the floating pokemon herself as well.

Gwen Tucker - 16th of June - Battle field behind the Pokecenter, Eterna City, Sinnoh

"Sorry Luz-" Gwen apologized, grimacing a bit as she watched the Espeon run around while Ozzy seemed adamant on keeping his hold on the Sun pokemon. Though, on the bright side, Ozzy had a super effective move for the grass gym. Luckily Luz had some sort of healing move in 'Morning Sun'. The small Deino let out a victorious cry once again, seeming to enjoy this playful tussle with his opponent. He pawed at the ground, seemingly ready to attack again.

Then something unexpected happened as two of Naka's pokemon hopped out of a pokeball, which Gwen could easily recognize. An Infernape! Popular amongst ace trainers in Sinnoh since Chimchar was a popular starter pokemon. Then an Aerodactyl! Maybe those history lessons weren't completely useless after all. Naka was quickly proving herself to be cooler and cooler. First handling the galactic grunt, having a Froslass and a creepy Parasect and now this!

"Whoa! You have so many cool pokemon!" Gwen exclaimed, essentially starry eyed. Ozzy quickly snapped his attention to the two new pokemon with one cooing and one who aggressively screeched. The small Irate pokemon just saw this as more playmates as his small nub of a tail wagged behind him and looked over to the general direction of where the noises came from and a burnt scent along with another earthy one.

Ron Towers, June 16th, Eterna City.

"Well you two are doing pretty great, Ozzy is gonna have fun at the gym battle, I'm sure of-" Ron stopped as the interruption by Naka's Pokemon happened. He let out a chuckle, they seemed eager to join, but no way was he letting his Espeon fight people of that caliber. Then...

A too familiar PokeBall began to shake, the one PokeBall Ron was currently afraid to touch. He tried to reach for it to stop it, but it was too late. A sudden flash of light was quickly replaced by thick dark purple smoke. It covered Ron from head to toe, leaving only his silhouette visible. Behind him appeared three small purple flames and then two ruby like eyes above them. The smoke began to center near the red gleaming eyes as Furia inhaled the smoke she had created. As the smoke began to clear, the shape of a Typhlosion began to emerge, the flames disappearing and leaving an upset looking Furia resting her head on Ron's shoulder. She spit out a burst of purple fire and remained still.

Ron didn't turn around, feeling the very familiar presence behind him, "We're just practicing, chill." He reached out to pat the Typhlosion's soft head.

Furia closed her eyes as she felt Ron's hand, for a second she seemed to relax. Then her eyes burst open, glaring at Naka's Pokemon, like a beast who's slumber had been disturbed. She removed her head from his shoulder and took a step forward, straightening her back upwards and tilting her head to the side, a sinister smirk spreading on her face.

"Furia, no. I know that look, that's my look, we're not fighting."

The Typhlosion looked over her shoulder at Ron and snorted flames at him, before looking back at Naka's Pokemon. She spread her arms open and roared, her back flames erupting into the sky while the ones around her neck ignited so bright it seemed to be one whole connected ring.

"Ah shit." Ron growled under his breath and held out his hand towards Gwen, "Return your Pokemon and get to Luz, Furia never attacks Luz." He then looked at Naka, "She thinks it's a challenge, please return your Pokemon!"

The Espeon didn't have to wait for Ron's instructions, using her tail again, she attempted to lure Ozzy into following her while she made her way towards Gwen, being able to keep tabs of her teammate's location, something that was easy for her since they had been together for a long time.

"Gotcha" Aldon said as Desmond said he'd look for Esther and Gene's pokémon. Aldon looked around for a bit. Apparently he was looking around longer than he thought because he realized the others were gone, but hadn't figured out they went to Ogi City yet.

"Now where did they go...? Aldon wondered. He looked around at Skol and his other pokémon.

"Return, Bran! You too. Zippy, Huck, Wunder and Bolly... annnnd now you Skol, let's get going" Aldon said.

"Slooo...?" Skol yawned.

Aldon turned and looked towards the town and looked towards the beach, "Uuuuuugghh... Where were we supposed to go again...?" Aldon asked confused.

"Slo!" Skol roared.

"Don't give me that tone! Your just as confused as I am! Uuuughh... Let's get going!" Aldon answered, without wasting another second he headed towards town and quickly getting lost. He began describing the group he was with to strangers. He headed further across town, asking more strangers if they had seen his group. He remembered going to the beach to dive. He eventually found his way closer to the beach. It would take him a while to find the rental place. Aldon continued wandering around for a bit, before getting there.

he got his rental supplies and eventually changed into some swimming trunks. Blue swimming trunks with pink wooper on them. No shoes and no shirt and still gets service! Aldon put the bag on Skol's back, and made his way onto the beach. As he looked at the ocean, the first step he took, he tripped. Catching a face full of sand. Skol joyfully laid on the ground believing now to be nap time. The hippo pokemon laid its head on the ground and enjoyed the feeling of the waves brushing up against its snout as it sat there on the waters edge. Nice pleasant breeze rolling off the slowpoke's back. It was a nice day. Aldon got up and spit some sand out before looking around. He eventually spotted Spotted Naka and Savannah.

"Hey! Hey! I remember you guys! You guys are going diving too!" Aldon said getting up and jogging over to them. Skol was having none of this though, and rolled on its back, catching another wave as the sun shined down on his pink belly. Tail slapping the ground, making water splash.

Esther
Saturday Night, June 11 – Dappled Grove-Gilded Field, Galar Region

Esther loved to ride.

She hadn’t at first, but that had been eons ago—read: five minutes—and now? Well, seated atop Rapidash’s back, she was positively giddy! Its mane was silk beneath her fingertips; strands of pastel blue and lilac wind-whipped to a tickle against her nose. Esther took a deep whiff; her lungs filled with a candied aroma: refreshing, cleansing even. Rapidash snorted and Esther’s grinned, “Sorry, sorry, I’ll pay attention!"

There was a pregnant pause.

"...Do you know what shampoo Elsie uses on you?” That got her another snort and so the Oblivian sheepishly focused on the road—or the lack thereof. There wasn’t much in the way of well-paved roads in the wild area, and they had veered off the beaten path a few minutes back. It was faster to cut through the forest, she figured. More fun too.

A stream lay ahead. Her grin returned. They’d have to jump it.

She tightened her grip, fingers clenched around Rapidash’s mane and legs squeezed around its waist. Rapidash picked up speed; the rush of wind grew into a howl! They neared the banks and—WHOOSH—took flight. Esther couldn’t help a squeal—it was such a RUSH!

They landed with light steps and impossible grace—which clearly wasn’t impossible since they’d just done it—she barely felt the lurch of momentum. As she had come to learn, riding Rapidash was logic-defyingly smooth. Its hooves didn’t hammer against the ground as she expected, in fact, the only hammering came from Esther’s heart—half-lodged in her throat.

Truthfully, she wasn’t sure they were even touching the ground. Rapidash simply...glided? Floated..? Drifted...? It was pulling some pokémon bull shit that defied all established rules of physics and the universe—and Esther loved it! That had helped a lot with her initial fears...that and the soft brace of psychic energy around her. After all, what if she fell!? Better safe than sorry!

Esther
Saturday Night, June 11 – Motostoke City, Galar Region

When Rapidash finally cantered through the gates of Motostoke city, Esther was a pleasant mess. As the adrenaline ebbed from her veins, clarity of thought returned. She was here for a reason! Her target was Munna, specifically one with telepathy. Adolphian and Vurrbin had given her an excellent idea about how to resolve her problems. She just needed her own telepath! Of course, first, she needed some more pokéballs.

Mentions: Reina (Hecotoro), Desmond (Godjacob)

OOC: Giving you an in to have Savannah speak to Naka before all the shit happens, Koop.

BIC:
Nakano received a text message a moment after she finished explaining the stuff for swimming to Zap Zap and Savannah, and she snorted upon looking it over. That was funny.

She listened to what Savannah had to say (if she said anything at all), but before she could properly respond, she heard someone call to her. She looked over to see Aldon with his Slowpoke. She waved, noticing his swim suit. "You know I rented gear for everyone right? Did you forget that was my job?" However, her attention was taken upon seeing a large green ball with a human and a Pokemon inside hurtling towards her across the sand. Behind this new form of Esther was Reina and Desmond discussing something. Was it the boarding room thing that Reina was tasked to do?

Either way, Esther called for her to catch her. "Uhhhhhh..." Naka shook her head and widened her stance, as if she was taking on a Pokemon charging at her in a sumo stance. She held out her hands as she got ready to take the sphere standing still. However, one of her Pokemon, her Barraskewda, thought it was a good idea to help. As soon as Naka slammed her fists into the sphere to stop its momentum, the Barraskewda cloaked itself in beige earthen energy, twirled, and ran through the sand to smash into the bubble. Sand was thrown everywhere, the sand hit Naka and the force of the ball hitting her first caused her to be thrown back, the sand scraping a bit of the wetsuit on her back.

But hey, that should have stopped Esther, yeah?

And her Barraskewda splashed back into the waters, so he wasn't completely stranded.

Gwen gawking and getting excited over Naka's Pokemon had her chuckling, her hand coming up to scratch the back of her head in slight embarrassment. Her Pokemon were acting as if they didn't have much training to begin with, and it was really making her look like a fool.

At least the expression from Gwen and Ozzy was sweet. Ron chuckled, which only had Naka feeling a bit more embarrassed. Then a third Pokemon revealed herself, but it wasn't one of Naka's. The air immediately changed into something tense, and Aero and Hanu immediately looked over at the spooky entrance. The Typhlosion that appeared before them, resting her head on Ron's shoulder, seemed... Off. A different color. Dark purple fur on top, paler cream on the bottom, there were curls of dark purple fur alongside her head, and a collar of dark purple fur around her neck. She also seemed way sleeker than a normal Typhlosion.

Purple flames...

Naka gasped, eyes wide. "Is that... No..." She watched as the Typhlosion glared and approached her team, issuing a challenge. Completely ignoring the challenge issued, Naka giggled maniacally, giddy as all hell. "Holy smokes, it's a Hisuian Typhlosion! A Fire/Ghost-Type! How did you get one??? They were back in Hisui times of Sinnoh! Like, hundreds of years ago! This is absolutely amazing! And I get to see one in the flesh???" She held her hands up to her cheeks, eyes practically sparkling.

The actions taken by Espeon to lure the Deino away as she ran back to Gwen had Naka realize this Typhlosion was still rather... Well, wild, in a sense. Ron's words reached her, but she just shook her head. "Not a chance, Bob. I know you don't want her fighting, but a good fight is what she looks like she needs if you want her to listen, yeah? I'm sorry for this, but this training session just changed its course."

Aerodactyl flew up and around, standing in the way of the Deino to make sure it got to safety if he was too slow, while Hanu immediately tried walking up to her, only for Naka to pull on his back hairs to whisper in his ear. He screeched at the tug, but listened to what she whispered in his ear. "Make her listen to her trainer. She's untrained and has too much pride. Knock her down a peg." She then patted him on the back, the taller-than-average Infernape nodding with a new objective in mind. He hopped on over to the Typhlosion, puffing out his chest and the flames on his head, making him as tall as her if you were to take the flames into account. Despite being smaller than the Typhlosion, he was still larger than his species, being 4'07".

The Infernape grinned up at the Typhlosion, a challenging glare in his eyes. He spoke to her in Pokespeak, accepting her challenge and that he won't go easy on her, as his head flame burned white for only a moment before hopping back. Naka slowly walked over to where Gwen was, her body in front of Gwen, Luz, and eventually Ozzy when he would get back there. Aero, if Typhlosion looked in Ozzy's direction, would screech a warning, wings out as he guarded everyone behind him before stepping a couple feet back to stand in front of Naka, then relaxed.

Unless Furia were to make a move.

Yellow Rock Isle, Whirl Islands, Johto (July 19th)

"He doesn't...oh forget it." Desmond said with a scowl as Politoed none the less seemed to warm up to the idea of them being friends, Desmond pinched the bridge of his nose. This frog would hug the world itself if it could, but as it glanced at the Water-Type it seemed to give a look as he sensed there wouldn't be much fighting this as he decided to focus Reina's rambling compromise.

"Can't say I have before. So this will be a new experience." Desmond answered honestly as he seemed to notice the Pokeball on Reina's person rock a bit but tried to pay it no mind.

However, sand suddenly kicked up as Nakano, Savanna and Aldon seemed to draw near and Esther's cries for help appeared to be answered as Naka's Barraskewda decided to act which caused Desmond to hop back in horror before he focused on covering his gaze as did his Politoed as the fish Pokemon worked to "catch" Esther which resulted in quite the mess and a lot of sand knocked around who knows what.

"N-never a dull moment with this group it seems..."

"Poli!"

~Aldon...~

Aldon heard Naka's words as she said she got everyone's rental supplies. Aldon looked at her with a blank expression, then at Skol and back at Naka. He paused then placed his fingers to his chin as if reevaluating every single one of his life choices leading him up to this moment. Another pause before clearing his throat.

"Err... Yes! I knew that. Good work! Now we got an extra one just in case!" Aldon said grinning.

"Aldon, why the hell do we need an extra diving suit, stuuupid? What are you going to rip your suit or get attacked by a sharpedo and need a new one? Are you going to squeeze one on Skol? This is why your dad is never home. You always screw shit up. Next time pay better attention" Aldon thought to himself. Skol turned his head with a disturbingly smug grin.

"Don't you dare!" Aldon pointed at his slowpoke.

"Poke... poke..." Skol replied with an almost sarcastic tone.

Aldon caught himself before he could say anything else dumb. He turned and finally noticed the thing speedily coming towards Naka. He jumped back as Naka attempted to stop the pokémon chargingat her.

"Oof!... Anyways. Oh, your here. Glad to see you guys finally made it" Aldon said pretending he didn't wander around town lost and afraid. Skol dragged the bag as he walked closer to Aldon.

"Poke!" Skol mused.

Esther
Tuesday – Afternoon July 19
Ogi City – Beach, Whirl Archipelago
Johto Region

Although the Oblivian had been hurtling through the air and set for a collision course with Naka, her mind had flown elsewhere once she’d caught a snippet of Reina’s conversation—“Oh shit, Gene!” The realization hit her like a Barraskewda’s drill run and then she was literally hit by a Barraskewda’s drill run and the wild scatter of sand was an accurate reflection of the minor panic Esther felt once she realized she’d lost a whole ass child.

As protect flickered away and she was dropped into the sand, Esther bolted upright and snapped to attention. Gene had definitely been with them when they entered the city and when they met up with Reina, but Esther had completely forgotten about the kid when she’d proposed the race. The kid was worryingly quiet! Anyway, the trip from the battlefield to the beach hadn’t been long, and even at...how old was Gene? Well, the kid would’ve definitely been able to keep up...yea, definitely...

Esther calmed. Even if Gene had been left behind, she couldn’t have gone far.

“Pari, go find Gene, make sure she isn’t getting into any trouble.”

The Munna made a lazy trill, but reluctantly left Esther’s head—off to escort the little one. ”Ping me if anything happens!”

Confident in Pari, Esther breathed a sigh of relief. That settled, she turned and flashed Naka a grin.

“Thanks for the catch! Any trouble with the gear?”
